Summary
It’s the year 1990. Hawkins Fuller works as a manager at his wife Lucy’s diner in rural Arkansas. Tim Laughlin, a young Irishman, has settled in town after a short-lived career as a classical singer. He looks after his sick mother and suffers under his father’s oppressive regime at home. Hawkins wants to have sex with Tim, so they both leave to spend a long weekend in a remote cabin. Tragedy strikes on the way. Hawkins fires a pistol to save Tim from being raped. He decides not to turn himself in and to flee to Mexico.
Inspector Marcus Gaines is put on the homicide case. This man seems to know Hawkins Fuller, and he even understands to a deeper extent why Hawkins wants to avoid being caught.

Summary
After losing his job at a senator’s office, Tim Laughlin becomes a cook at the house of Hawkins Fuller, his former lover whom he cannot seem to part from. Striving to hide his true preferences, Hawkins gets engaged, marries and starts a family. The only way for Tim to show Hawkins his love is through his cooking, quite like Tita does to Pedro in ‘Like Water for Chocolate’. When Hawkins goes to live abroad with his wife and his infant son, Tim flees and decides to eradicate the past to regain his sanity.
Both FT and 'Like Water for Chocolate' concentrate on love that is not meant to be and on the hardships people have to face to have their hearts' yearnings quenched. This fic is no different, but it has a happier ending than the two canon stories.
'Like Water for Chocolate' is only a small fandom on AO3, and you may not be familiar with this Mexican gem, but even if you have never read Esquivel's novel or watched the 1992 screen version, you'll still be able to read this fic without missing out on plots.

Laboewangi, Oost-Java, in het jaar 1899. Resident Otto van Oudijck, een rechtlijnige Hollandse ambtenaar, is alleen maar bezig met zijn werk. Léonie, zijn tweede vrouw, is veel jonger dan hij en leeft enkel voor haar verboden sensuele genoegens. Zijn zoon Theo en zijn dochter Doddy hebben elk hun eigen verlangens, waar hij niets over te weten mag komen. Maar het bloed kruipt toch wel waar het niet gaan kan, met als gevolg een reeks explosieve voorvallen die hij niet (of misschien wel) had kunnen voorzien.
Heel bewust laat ik in mijn verhaal de personages het Nederlands van Indië spreken. Stijl en zinsbouw zijn ontleend aan de oeuvres van drie helden van de Indische literatuur, Couperus natuurlijk, Maria Dermoût en Madelon Szekely-Lulofs.
De tekst van Couperus' roman is integraal op dbnl.org te vinden. Momenteel staat de gelijknamige tv-serie uit 1974 op YouTube. Die is zeer het bekijken waard!- Language:

Summary
The many lovely ATWD fics on AO3 inspired me to create my own stories. The film and the message it bears is serious and I cannot praise the editor and the actors enough for their outstanding work. It set an important mark in the global conception of LGBT rights in Georgia.
My fics, however, are slightly different. Post-canon Merab and Irakli are in fact steady lovers, David, Sopo and Mary are very supportive of their relationship and all is hunky-dory in Tbilisi.
It isn't. It definitely isn't. Our friends go through the craziest adventures and get into trouble while saving Aleko. Poor Aleko! But he'll be fine too.
