It’s hard to understand how she hadn’t taken notice of it before; it’s not particularly small, it’s too bright to blend seamlessly into their carpet, and it’s certainly not unmistakable. It’s a blood stain, clear as day, and it’s in front of the bed that Kris lies in and sleeps in and spends majority of their day in, at least, they did before they met her and before they met Ralsei and before they all knew the dark world existed.
At least, before she knew the dark world existed.
Looking at the bird cage that feels awfully lonely with no clear sign of a muse, at the unnaturally red stain that has seemingly sat there long enough to have seeped into the fabric of their woolen carpet and etch the liquid firmly into the fibers, she wonders. She wonders how much Kris—who has gotten much quieter since the day they opened the dark world together, who never sounds like themself anymore—just doesn’t bother to tell her.
