All of a sudden, mid argument, Alastor leaves... And he comes back with a kid?! What the hell!? Why does this kid have deer features, he looks like Alastor?

Summary
Alastor is hurt, badly; and if he gets his way then nobody will know it's ever happened. He's not weak, and he refuses to be seen as so. He's dealt with injuries worse in a matter of weeks; this will be nothing to him.
But an injury from an angelic weapon is no joking matter. Even as an Overlord such an injury would slowly fester and spread unless properly treated. It would take such large amounts of power to even halt such a spread of an infection. So much power that a lesser sinner would simply combust on the spot.
He's content to deal with it on his own and act as if it never happened; however, his shadow as different ideas. Forcing him to direct his demonic power into stopping the spread of his injury and into a forced shift into a smaller and weaker form.
Left smaller, and physically weaker, in this form he's forced to face the dangers of an irately, concerned nemesis, said nemesis's daughter's concern, along with the hotel staff's concern. And the only thing he hates more than being weak, is being seen as weak.

Summary
Vox is well-loved and respected in his community, which is great for getting away with unethical and highly illegal scientific research for personal gratification via human experimentation, but it's getting boring. So when he's offered relocation from the Midwest to New Orleans, he takes the opportunity to integrate himself into a new place, to insulate himself as he establishes hunting grounds outside his new community.
He's not expecting to meet the meanest man he's ever met in his entire life, one who absolutely despises him. Vox immediately falls in love and makes things worse by pulling pigtails to get attention. Nothing works to change the dynamic, until Alastor finds Vox trying to dispose of a dead body deep in the bayou and stays around instead of running away. They bond over their mutual interest.
They bond quite a bit over it.
There's a ton of bonding, really. And some plot and killing, but it's a lot of sex—I mean bonding—and sociopaths falling in love.
