Summary
He takes a step forward, then another, and suddenly his arms are outstretching before Buck’s even reached him, fingers uncurling from fists. It’s a desperate movement, an attempt to defy the space between them, and it tugs so hard at Buck’s heart he feels it lodge right in his throat.
Striding the last two steps, he welcomes the weight of Eddie collapsing against his chest, the limp arms that circle around his waist. Wrapping one arm around Eddie’s shoulders, Buck pulls him closer, smoothing his other hand down his back.
“Hey,” he says, and rests his chin gently on Eddie’s head. “I got you.”
Barely perceptible, Eddie nods, forehead pressed into the crook of Buck’s neck. It’s the closest they’ve been in weeks. Months.
“I got you,” Buck repeats, and it’s only then that Eddie starts to cry.

Summary
The silence on the other end sharpens.
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” Buck snaps.
Eddie flinches. “Nothing. I—”
“No, come on, say it. What does that mean, Eddie?” Buck pushes, voice rising.
He feels trapped, like the walls are closing in, like he’s been backed into a corner with no way out. His palms feel sweaty, chest rising and falling too fast, too shallow, like there’s not enough air in the room.
He’s angry.
He’s hurt.
He’s confused.
He’s jealous. It’s too much all at once, emotion piling on top of emotion with nowhere to go.
And it keeps coming.
And. And. And.
His body is trembling under the weight of everything he can’t say, everything he didn’t know until now.
“I’m just saying,” Eddie starts, “it’s only been a couple of weeks and now you’re fucking Tommy Kinard in my bedroom—”
“It’s not your bedroom anymore,” Buck cuts in, his voice sharp. “You made sure of that, when you left.”

Summary
"Um," he falters, clearing his throat, "hello?" Then cringes at himself, mouthing the word again. Hello?
He jumps a little when a voice sounds.
"Hey."
It's unmistakably male, though Buck could have anticipated that, and his voice is low and rumbling, a little gruff.
"Hi. Hello," Buck says again, wincing. "Um—how does this—uh, do I—"
"Just get hard and stick your dick through the hole, man," the guy says. Right. So, apparently, it is that easy.
"Um, right, okay," Buck says. Get hard, stick my dick through the hole, he nods to himself, I can do that.

Summary
“You didn’t know he was doing this?” Taylor asks as she takes her phone back.
“I didn’t know we were dating,” Buck whispers, eyes tracking Eddie as he heads back to the table. Taylor laughs and quickly stops.
“Oh my god, you’re not joking. Well, good luck with uh - that,” Taylor snorts. She’s gone before Eddie sits back down, sliding two gin and sodas across the table towards Buck.or
The one where Buck didn’t know they were dating and Eddie is embracing whimsy (and isn’t as much of a technophobe as we think he is).
