Summary
Lan Zhan thought she had a type, and that type was serious, well-put-together businesswomen. This woman was clearly not Lan Zhan’s type. She was dressed casually in a flowy skirt with an elastic waist and a white tank top. Her hair was half pulled up with a red ribbon, and Lan Zhan had the sudden urge to brush out all the tangles.
“I’m Wei Ying,” Wei Ying continued, oblivious to Lan Zhan’s crisis. “My little monster over there is A-Yuan. We live a couple blocks that way.” She pointed in the direction of Lan Zhan’s new home.
After adopting her cousin's child, Lan Zhan gets a new job, moves to a new home, and makes a new friend, single mom Wei Ying.

Lan Zhan wasn’t sure why he’d asked Nie Huaisang, of all people, to help him out with his dilemma, but he didn’t have any other ideas. It wasn’t like he could ask his brother. Lan Huan would first, die laughing, and second, tell him to use his words and be sincere. His inability to do the first made the second impossible. So Nie Huaisang it was.
Lan Zhan really wants to ask out his hot co-worker, but his own words fail him. Therefore, he will borrow someone else's.

It's a pretty light Mature that could probably have been okay as a heavy Teen. Fully written and beta-read; 73k of raising children, standing up for what one values, and falling in love.

Because the first guy she’d dated after that had been Pete and now they were getting married.
Lan Zhan sighs again. Most anyone else would be ecstatic. Overjoyed. Call up their friend immediately to congratulate them.
All Lan Zhan wants to do is throw up.

Summary
The figures have their backs to the door, but Wangji can make them out regardless. Even seated, Wei Wuxian’s hands move continuously.
“The older of the Twin Jades was inoffensive to the point of forgettable; the younger was so Jadelike I thought he might actually be made of stone. Has he ever smiled, do you reckon? Even once?”
Ah. Wangji feels a tide of heat to his face and a sort of wavelike rush in his ears, as if he were standing very near a waterfall. This is the precise reason Rule 569: Eavesdropping Is Prohibited exists. Wangji will have to punish himself for the infraction.
It is good, Wangji muses, that he doesn’t care about this Wei Wuxian’s approval.
(Or; Lan Wangji is a single man in possession of a good fortune. He is not in want of a spouse.)
