“It is like I said, Son of Adam,” Aslan says. “You will have many chances to prove yourself. Your time will come.”

Terry seemed to be doing well when they talked during the Border incident. Not as well as he used to be, but well enough. As well as he had been since the divorce, and Wendy’s Employee’s death, and everything else that had happened in the past year. Still, though, Jeb couldn’t help but be worried. Hence the fact that he was here, at Terry’s house.

Summary
A blank is a firearm cartridge that does not contain a bullet. It does, however, still contain gunpowder. That gunpowder is still ignited when the trigger is pulled, just as it would with a regular bullet. There is still an explosion near the muzzle of the gun when fired, and burning gasses and anything else lodged in the barrel are still released at high velocity.
They can still hurt.
At close range, they can even still be lethal.
Chris looks all this up well after the fact, and he can't help but wonder how much research Josh put into that part of the night. He had planned everything else out so thoroughly, after all.
Chris decides not to think about it.

“Truth be told, I think I may be better suited as a scholar than a soldier,” Caspian sighs, picking at the freshly-administered bandages across his palm.
“Maybe that’s why I’m here, then,” Peter finds himself saying. Caspian’s fingers still, and he looks up at Peter questioningly. “I’ve never been the best student in the bunch, you might say.” He gets by well enough, but he’s always thought quicker with a blade in his hand. Sometimes it’s more like breathing than thinking, that’s how easy it is. Drawing Rhindon beneath what’s left of Cair Paravel was like waking up without realizing he’s been half asleep all along.
“I am glad,” Caspian says suddenly, not quite meeting his eye, “that the horn brought you here.” He pauses before adding, “All of you.”

The wings are a gift from Aslan, and one they do not expect. On a fair summer day in Cair Paravel, he bestows unto them titles, and Narnia, and wings, just as he did for King Frank and Queen Helen in the first hours of Narnia, when the world was new and the land yet unspoiled. The children do not know that history yet, of course; that will come later, with height and wisdom and calluses hard-earned. With the time that Narnia shall give them.
For now, all they know are the crowns on their heads, the Lion before them, and the wings, newly-formed, at their backs.
