Summary
After the 2012 attack on New York led by Loki, Hayden is left with no family in the foreign and powers that she doesn't quite understand yet. After a heated discussion with Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton from the Avengers, she agrees to join the team to better learn about her powers of shadow manipulation, with some persausion from Nick Fury, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
After Thor and his brother Loki defeat the Dark Elves in Greenwhich, Loki's sentence is changed by the Allfather, instead moving him to a shortened senetence on Midgard to help out the Avengers and try to make amends for the death and destruction he caused. Even though he didn't want to admit it, the little mortal with shadow powers intrigues him.
When enhanced beings start to surface after Loki's arrival, the team is quick to blame him. However, after one of the enhanced claim to be Hayden's half-sibling, the team begin to learn that these enhanced, not only share similar DNA, but are all related. Someone is ensembling an army, with the intent to wipe out the Avengers.
