    "Yeah," Ranboo nods, "there's a magic to star reading you know. Some people, when they point out the constellations, can make them brighter to others."

    Tommy hesitates.

    Tubbo, still laying on Ranboo's shoulder, pauses. Ranboo watches Tommy, again with that same look that Tubbo had before, with the cat at the sliding door. A test.

    Tommy's insides curl unpleasantly.

    "Ah," Tommy goes, careful to sound politely interested, not prying, not surprised, not overly curious. Just as if Ranboo had told him a fact about dinosaurs or the mechanics of a car- like magic is some distant thing that Tommy will only ever know the surface of. "That's cool."

    or, tommy is magic and hiding, afraid to lose his best friends. unfortunately, ranboo and tubbo are intent on trying to figure him out.

    “what. the fuck.” he blinks. “what the hell is wrong with you all? if i can't survive the try not to laugh what makes you think i can counter against smiling?”
     
    “aw, sweetheart, i thought you weren't soft.” dream’s poking his side. they haven't even started the video and tommy can't handle it. “we love you, kiddo, and you love us! it’ll be so fun to mess with you like that!”

    Death took Tommy away. Revival didn’t bring all of him back.

    Tommy just wants to be okay, but that seems impossible when the entire server is out to get him and death calls his name more often than life does. Sometimes, he's so far from okay that he wonders if trying is worth it.
     
    People show him that trying is worth it though, one flower at a time.

    Both of them nod, like they know more about him than he does.

    Tommy finds, in this moment, that he loves them so much he can only hate them for it.
