Chapter Text
It has to be enough.
Hell, he didn't go through all of this, months and years of fight against Drizella, the coven, Gothel (especially Gothel) to see his efforts fade into nothingness as well as his daughter being separated from him and her True Love !
So yes, gods be damned, this evil witch and bitch be damned, there is no way in hell he is going to let this happen, to let the curse be cast, that wouldn't… that wouldn't be fair !
Oh, maybe he does deserve that, maybe people like him, or Rumpelstiltskin, Zelena, Tremaine or Regina and other former villains living in the New Enchanted Forest do deserve to endure such a terrible punishment, being tore apart from the one they love, having their true identities being ripped out from them, and to be put into a world which isn't their and get a miserable life, but…
But Alice, Robyn, Henry, Ella, Lucy, Tiana and everyone else in this fucking world, they didn't deserve such a fate !
He was going to make everything so this would not happen.
And yet, he saw it in his daughter's eyes, she didn't believe that they would win this time, the letter she wrote for Robyn showed it well, for sure.
"I'll deliver it, he says, hoping that's not the last time Robyn can read her lover's words. But I'm gonna do my best to make sure that nothing parts any of us.
- I hope that's enough, she answers, hesitantly, a light of fear and sadness in her eyes."
Like she knew something he didn't, and well she was the one of them who had magic in her veins, so maybe, just maybe he should have seen her concern like a sign that what was going to happen was inevitable, but he didn't because this time he wanted to hope that what they were doing would be enough.
It's not, obviously.
He should have known, right ?
It was not the first time he failed his daughter, it was not the first time something wrong happened to them, he remembered the duel, he remembered Achab, and the curse Gothel cast on him and his heart all these years ago, a new curse is going to hit them soon, and it's like history repeats itself, there is something wrong about it, but he just can't stop it from happening.
He just looks at Gothel's satisfied smile and wishes he could kill her and erase all the bad things she did in just one moment.
Instead, he does nothing and just stands there, waiting for the purple smoke to transport them to another world, and Alice knew, she always knew, because she was the Guardian, or just because she was a witch and felt the magic in the air, but well, the reason why, that didn't matter at all, did it ?
I'm sorry Alice…
I'm so sorry.
(The white elephant is gone, in Ella's hands now, and he knows it does worth it but he can't help but feel his heart break as he thinks about his little girl – not so little now – being alone in a world none of them knows. He hopes she will have Robyn with her, at least.)
And then…
The curse hits, and while Killian Jones falls…
Detective Rogers rises.
