Chapter 1: Went easy on you (Bakugou Katsuki x reader)
Chapter Text
It’s your first day at UA. You were surprised to even get in, especially when school started about a month ago. But having popular, powerful and dare you say, a tad overbearing, parents really paid off sometimes. Plus your air manipulation quirk had a lot of uses that were perfect for hero work. The school welcomed you with open arms. But you were not expecting this on the first day.
“Alright, newbie.” Your teacher, Aizawa, looks you up and down. “You’re up.”
Your eyebrows shoot up. “Up? Up for what?”
“Are we fighting or not, new girl?” You hear a shout and spot a raging blonde preparing for a sparring session.
“Wait, you want me to fight some angry Pomeranian on my first day?” You stare at Aizawa who smiles slightly at the insult.
“You missed the quirk test so I have to gauge your skills somehow. And he came first in the UA sports festival so it’s a good place to start.”
Your shoulders slump when you realise he makes a good point. But it doesn’t stop you from being pissed.
“You got this.” Your new friend Uraraka smiles at you, psyching you up.
“Have you ever fought him before?” You glance at Uraraka who winces slightly before nodding. “How’d you do?”
“Ummm... not important. But you can take him on! I don’t know if you know his quirk yet but Bakugou creates explosions in his hands. I believe in you, Y/n!” She pats your shoulders before leaving and you sigh. You’re gonna die, you can feel it.
“Hi.” You say to the boy Uraraka called Bakugou. “I’m Y/n.” You eye him up, noting that he’s actually really handsome when he’s not glaring or growling at you. When you look back at his eyes, he sends you an amused smirk which makes you blush. He noticed you checking him out... Great.
“I don’t really care about extras’ names. So unless you beat me Y/n, I’m not going to remember it.” He smiles wickedly, and you roll your eyes. You really shouldn’t have found that as attractive as you did.
“Alright. On my signal.” Aizawa announces and you start to panic slightly.
As soon as the match begins, Bakugou sends explosions your way. You immediately dodge, literally bending over backwards to avoid the blast of fire you’re pretty sure he aimed at your face. You push yourself onto your hands, creating a bridge with your body, and then flip back to your feet, doing a back walkover move you learned from the years of gymnastics your parents forced you to do. You look up to see a slightly impressed Bakugou, but it doesn’t last long as he uses his explosions to fly towards you.
You wait until just the right moment where he’s close enough before sending a blast of air under him. You push him upwards with the air. He flies up into the air, clearly unaware of how to stop his inevitable descent. You catch him before he gets too high and send him hurtling back towards to ground, letting him down a little gentler than you would an actual opponent.
Bakugou stares at you and you send him a sweet smile in response. “I don’t even know your quirk, this isn’t a fair fight!” Bakugou pouts and you have to hold back a laugh. That’s adorable, he gets pouty when he’s not winning.
“You won’t know villains’ quirks.” You point out and he growls slightly.
This time, when he sends explosions at you, you control the air around them so the balls of fire screech to a halt a few inches from you. You quickly send them back at him, using a blast of air to propel yourself towards him. He uses blasts to avoid your attack and sends one your way when you’re midair. With a flick of your wrist, the target of his blast changes from you to him and you accelerate it so he can’t block or avoid it. Since he was blindsided by the attack, he has an open stance that you use to your advantage; you swipe at his legs just as you reach the ground. He goes down instantly and you use your body to pin him down, sitting on his stomach with your hands pinning his wrists.
You expect him to be pissed but to your surprise, he smirks slightly.
“Y/n, was it?”
You don’t hold back your laughter this time, grinning down at him. “Bakugou, was it?”
“Katsuki.” He winks playfully and you blush slightly. “You’re lucky this is your first day. I went easy on you.”
“Oh really?” You smirk. “Can’t wait for the rematch.”

Chapter Text
“Todoroki? What happened?” Your eyes widen as you take in his appearance. He’s covered in plasters and bruises, acting nonchalant as usual. But you were his best friend here, he couldn’t ignore you. He attempts to walk past you, much to your annoyance. “Todo.” You use your stern voice and he stops in his tracks.
“It’s nothing, really.” He sends you a smile, something that never fails to make your butterflies act up. But he’s your best friend, you can’t think that way. When he thinks the conversation is over, he turns around.
“It really scares me, you know.” You say, looking down at the ground with your arms crossed. It only takes a second for Todoroki to be in front of you, staring down at you inquisitively. “When the strongest get injured.” You look up at him and he pauses for a second.
“It’s only training, Kitten.” He smiles at the nickname for you and you roll your eyes, secretly loving it. He’s the only one who calls you it and he says it’s because you’re short and feisty.
“How many times do I need to tell you not to call me that?” You put your hands on your hips.
“When you learn not to blush at the nickname, I’ll stop calling you it.” He smirks, making your cheeks flame.
“Shut up, Buttercup.” You plaster on your own smirk when he sighs, rubbing a hand over his face.
“Seriously?”
“Yup.” You smile at him, and it doesn’t take long for his frown to break into a small smile.
“I hate how you can make me smile so easily, Kitten.” He walks backwards, watching you.
“You love me really.” You call as he turns around, walking away normally.
“He totally loves you.” A voice startled you and you turn to see Ochaco and Bakugou. No one knows about their relationship except for you: you caught them kissing in the kitchen a week ago.
“You really think so?” You try to tamper down your excitement but Bakugou’s bark of laughter tells you you didn’t do a good job.
“You love him too then, eh?” Bakugou smirks and I roll my eyes.
“No. We’re just friends. I don’t have any feelings for Todoroki.” You stare Bakugou down and he watches you for a second before smirking.
“You’re a pretty good liar, Y/n, I’ll admit. But you can’t fool me, baka.”
“Suki.” Uraraka pulls on his arm slightly and he frowns before turning back towards you.
“Do you like him or not?”
You sigh before giving your answer, “Maybe a little.”
“Then tell him! Or better yet, make the dense idiot realise he likes you.”
“And how am I meant to do that, Bakugou?” You pout slightly and he rolls his eyes.
“God you’re useless.” He responds and Uraraka glares at him. “Alright, alright, I’ll help you.”
“Damn, Ochaco, you really have him whipped,” you smile, knowing your friend wouldn’t let her boyfriend attack you. “What’s your secret?”
“Can’t tell you that.” She winks before looking up at her boyfriend. “What’s your plan, Suki?”
“Hey, Kitten!” Todoroki smiles at you from across the room. Today’s the day everyone hangs out in the common room to watch movies and today’s the day Todoroki finally realises he loves you. He gestures to the seat next to him that he saved for you but you glance around to notice Bakugou opposite Todo on a sofa for 2.
“Maybe next time.” You smile politely at Shoto before sitting next to Bakugou. There’s barely any room for both of you so your legs are touching his and he has to put his arm round your shoulder.
“You really chose the worst seat.” You lean in to whisper to him, hoping it looks like flirting from Todo’s point of view.
Bakugou sends you a fake grin before smirking and tucking a hair behind your ear.
“It’s the best, baka. He’s looking right at us and we’re close. Perfect for jealousy.”
You grumble, realising he has a point, and put your hand on his leg for extra ‘flirting’ points. “You’re really trying time sell this, huh?” He glances at you and you let out a chuckle, acting like he said something funny.
“I need to know how he feels about me. Is he looking?” You avoid looking at Todo as Bakugou glances past you.
“Oh yeah, he’s looking. And he’s looking pissed.” Bakugou grins. It doesn’t surprise you he likes making Todo mad but you feel a bit bad about it.
Halfway into the film and you’re dozing off.
“I’m going to do one more thing before officially giving up.” You murmur, putting your head on Bakugou’s shoulder. You’ve only ever done that with Todoroki and, like you expected, it doesn’t take long for him to get mad enough to interrupt.
“Can I steal you away, Y/n?” He stares down at you and you gulp. No nickname? Uh oh. You nod, and he leads you out of thee with a hand on your arm.
“What’s wrong, Todo?” You stare at him innocently and he narrows his eyes.
“Cut the act.”
“What are you talking about?”
“What the hell are you doing with Bakugou?” His eyes are alight with something you can’t name: Rage? Anger? ... Jealousy?
“We were just talking, Shoto. There’s nothing wrong with that, is there?” Shoto doesn’t respond and you bite your lip. “Is there any reason I shouldn’t talk to him?” You say, quieter this time and he visibly relaxes slightly.
“A reason? Like what?” He asks, his voice soft, and you shake your head.
“You have to give me one before I go back in and sit with him.” You cross your arms and he sighs.
“Why are you so stubborn?”
“Why are you so emotionless all the goddamn time?”
“Why do I like someone as irritating as you?” He groans and your insult dies in your throat.
“W-What?”
He runs a hand through his hair, exhausted. “I said I like you, idiot. And I don’t want my kitten hanging out with another boy.” He takes a step closer and you instinctively lick your lips.
“You like me.”
“Are you going to say it back?” He smirks, standing over you, so close, his breath fans your face gently. The action sends goosebumps down your body.
“Y-Yeah but...” you stop as his lips get closer to yours and you push yourself up to meet his. His face stops an inch away from yours.
“I’m going to need you to say it.” He smiles and you pinch the bridge of your nose.
“God, you’re so annoying.”
“And...?” He smirks, moving away an inch and you grab his shirt, pulling him back to where he was.
“And I like you too, dumbass. Now kiss me.”
Notes:
A little bit of Ochaco x Bakugou action in there. Let me know if you want a whole chapter based on it!
