00:00 High.
You either love it or you hate it.
Known worldwide as 'Korea's mysterious high school'.
Many don't trust it. They think its corrupt. They say it's unusual how people can just walk in crazy in the head and come out perfect.
Most people like it. Especially patients families. They claim it's doing wonders for the world by helping young mental patients get better while also getting an education.
Only crazy people go to 00:00 High.
People with mental disorders or trauma. They go in troubled, come out normal.
Every single time.
No one knows the truth- how they turn insane, mental patients into normal people. Not one single person outside of the school knows.
People try to ask the students that have been to 00:00 High how the school runs, but no matter who you are, family, friends, lovers, journalist, they won't say a word.
Their mouth is wired shut. They won't utter a thing.
It's like they've sworn secrecy to 00:00 High. Maybe they have. Who knows.
Many people spread rumors about the school. Claiming they torture the students and brainwash them. Claim that the school 'drives the craziness out of them'.
But every rumor is shut down by police investigations.
Police find nothing unusual about the school during investigations. In fact, the police promote the school often.
00:00 High School will always be a mystery to everyone.
But with police proving them innocent of bad rumors and students remaining uncooperative, the school continues to thrive.
No matter what anyone says.
Or does.
For now.

Chapter 2: Kim Taehyung
Summary:
Kim Taehyung's backstory.
Chapter Text
TW - Abuse, graphic violence, mental disorders.
- - - - -
I'm a murderer.
That single thought constantly swam through Taehyung's head everyday. no matter how hard he tried to get it out. No matter how hard he cried, no matter how hard he punched the walls, no matter how hard he convinced himself that it was self defense.
He was a murderer, and that was that.
He had murdered his own father and it will haunt him to the end.
Taehyung could easily be in prison right now. One little slip up would be all it would take.
Right now he's on house arrest, unable to leave his property or he would be arrested, after all, he is a murderer.
Taehyung was an odd case. While he could be in prison right now, the police spared him, claiming it was self defense. In favor of not going to prison, Taehyung agreed to be sent to a place called 00:00 High.
Taehyung had heard of it before. Pretty much everyone has,. It was that school where insane or troubled people went. They went in crazy but came out perfect. In one of Korea's biggest mysteries and even Taehyung himself will admit to binge watching a few documentaries on the school and it's secrets.
Taehyung never imagined that he himself would be going there.
But now, here he is. On house arrest until his time at 00:00 High starts.
______
Taehyung was born the youngest sibling, his mom tragically died when he was 5 and it was around that time that his dad started drinking. By the age of 6, his dad was addicted and spent every living hour tormenting Taehyung from then on. It was his older sister who took most of the abuse from the drunk man they called their father.
Often, Taehyung would get hit and brutally insulted by his father, whenever his older sister wasn't around to take the hits for him. Taehyung was never sure whether it was his older sister being protective over him, or whether their father has favorites. Taehyung felt guilty about it either way.
He put up with everything for 10 years. Until one day, he just snapped.
One day, in the evening, he was strolling back to the place he called 'home', taking in the beautiful scenery around him while mentally preparing himself to go back to that place. A place filled with eternal screams and disregarding insults. As got closer, he calmly made his way up to the front door when he heard a blood curdling scream from non other than his sister.
At first he was shocked. His father always worried about making too much noise, he never let them shout and threatened them if they where too loud. Now Taehyung was worried.
Violently pulling the door open, he ran into the house only to see his older sister being held against the wall while their father stood menacingly over her, one fist gripping her hair, the other tightly grasped around her neck. She looked horrible. In 10 years, Taehyung had never seen her this bad. Her hair was matted with thick layers of dried blood while fresh blood trickled down her forehead and arms. Bruises littered every crevice of her skin and the look of pure terror painting her face is something Taehyung is sure he will never forget.
That was his sister. His beloved sister. How dare he lay a single hand on her.
How. Dare. He.
He grabbed the closet item to him (one of his fathers empty beer bottles) and proceeded to sneak up on the man himself.
He rose the beer bottle high up in the air before heavily bringing it down on his fathers head where it smashed, and with a sickening thud, his father crumpled to the floor. He was clearly knocked out and no longer a threat, but Taehyung wasn't done yet.
He jumped onto his fathers motionless body and took a deep breath before plunging the broken bottle into his fathers chest repeatedly. He continued this several times before his sister pulled him off of the body, pleading and begging him to stop.
Suddenly, harsh and heavy sobs raked through his body as he lay frozen and traumatized in his sisters arms. They both lay like that for a while, trying to process what just happened.
Eventually his sister stood up, mumbling something about calling the police. Taehyung's eyes went wide.
"N-no! Please! Don't tell them!" The broken boy begged through heavy sobs.
His sister sighed "Taehyung...you know I have to." She whispered like she was trying to convince herself more than him, "you k-killed him, we can't hide that" She admitted shakily, tears rolling down her bruised cheeks.
Taehyung sighed in defeat and buried his head in his knees, crying loudly. He was terrified. What was going to happen to him? He was still trying to wrap his head around what just happened. In a matter of seconds, he had lost it and turned his already shitty life into something that was just seemingly unbearable.
Now he has to live with the consequences.
_____
A few days later, he was curled up under a blanket on his bed, refusing to leave. He couldn't bring himself to face his sister, he had just ruined both of their lives.
His sister had gone outside to get some food for them, not that either of where going eat much of it anyways. There where too busy thinking about the future and how they will cope. Taehyung being sent to 00:00 High and his sister being sent to an orphanage. They where both terrified, they've always been together and now they are being pulled apart so suddenly.
Taehyung was pulled from his thoughts by the sound of someone cramming something through his letter box. He knew exactly what it was.
He wiped a few stray tears from his face and slowly pulled himself out of the bed, he hadn't properly left the room since the incident so he was nervous but he just had to read the letter. Opening the door ever so slowly, he saw the room he'd been trying to avoid, and upon seeing it, he broke down.
His legs went weak, they shook underneath his weight while Taehyung began to gasp and claw at his throat. He couldn't believe his eyes. As he dropped to the ground, legs finally giving out, his eyes where fixed on something. The dead body of his father was sprawled in the middle of the room.
Taehyung began crying, begging for someone to help him as he took ragged, shallow breaths. Tears streamed down his face as he hyperventilated, choking and spluttering. Then, he froze. He sat there leaning against the door frame, motionless as he was unable to move. Tears poured as he tried to fight the invisible hands that where keeping him still but there was no luck. Next thing he knew he was loosing consciousness.
He woke up around 5 minutes later confused and exhausted. Then he remembered what happened and looked to the center of the room. There was nothing there. It was just a horrible PTSD episode, he thought in relief. He never wanted to see that man again.
Taehyung had suffered from PTSD for a while. His father obviously didn't care so it got worse over time. He had gained it from the traumatizing abused hurled at him on a daily basis. As if it wasn't bad enough with his dad tormenting him, his own mind was too.
Snapping back to reality, Taehyung sighed. He remembered what he came to do. Rushing to the front door, he grabbed the envelope and hastily retreated to the comforts of his own room, wanting to get far away from the other room.
Safely tucked under his blanket once again, he ripped open the letter he had been anticipating and began to read:
- - - - - - - - - - - -

Chapter 3: Kim Namjoon
Summary:
Kim Namjoon's backstory.
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
All Namjoon ever wanted was to be loved.
He tried so hard to be what everyone wanted of him and just to live up to everyone's expectations,
but ever since the voices appeared, everyone in his life disappeared.
His friends, colleagues, even his own family. They all got scared of his 'abnormal' behavior and left. Left his life.
Namjoon has schizophrenia. He thought being diagnosed with it was bad enough but he wasn't prepared for his hallucinations to push away everyone he knew.
A particularly bad hallucination was what drove his family to shut him away. The only contact Namjoon still had with them was over the phone. They simply were too scared to let Namjoon near them anymore.
And Namjoon just couldn't bear it.
He still remembers the day like it was yesterday. Just a simple lazy day, one calm weekend. Namjoon's family were aware of his Schizophrenia, and they supported him as much as they could. His dad, mom and his sister.
That day took a sharp turn.
———
Namjoon was standing in an empty parking lot. Wait? Wasn't he just in his house?
He didn't have much time to ponder the answer when a cry for help shattered through his thoughts. Turning his head around, his gaze landed on a small, frail boy being cornered by an older man. They didn't seem to be getting along, not one bit.
The older man was standing threateningly above the other, waving his arms about wildly, shouting all sorts of stuff. The boy looked terrified holding his hands above his head, trying to protect himself.
Namjoon didn't know what was going on but he was never one to just walk away and let someone be hurt. He stormed over and grabbed the man by the shoulder, jerking the man around to face him. Namjoon didn't even bother to ask what was going on before he swung his fist and it made contact with the man's nose. The man stumbled back in shock, clutching his bleeding nose.
Namjoon was about to step forward and do more but he didn't get very far as the small boy was suddenly holding him back by his arms, begging him to stop.
Namjoon was confused. He was helping! The man was hurting him!
Why is he stopping him?!
All these thoughts were swimming through Namjoon's head, confusing him. He closed his eyes tightly, trying to gather his thoughts again and assess the situation.
He was not expecting to open his eyes to his own mother, lying on the kitchen floor, clutching her heavily bleeding nose.
He tried to move towards her but strong arms consisting of his dad and sister, held him back tightly.
———
Before he knew it, he was being sent away from the family to live alone. No matter how many times Namjoon told them it was an accident and that it was a hallucination that he couldn't control, they wouldn't listen. They were scared it would happen again, Namjoon didn't blame them.
He was dangerous. And he hated it.
So now, despite only being 16, Namjoon lived alone. His family still paid for everything, his apartment, his food, his clothes. They had too. They were still his legal guardians.
Namjoon still had hope that they loved him. After all, if they hated him, they surely would have sent him to an orphanage instead? They also still occasionally texted him, seeing how he was. That must mean they still love him right?!
He hadn't spoken to his parents in 9 months now. The monthly 5 minute text conversations he had with them were the only thing Namjoon had to look forward to. Namjoon knew all of this was wrong, yet couldn't bring himself to do anything about it.
Being alone for so long probably should have sent Namjoon crazy but instead he motivated himself to learn everything he could in hopes that one day, he can meet his family again and make them proud. He busied himself everyday with studying anything he could.
He'd also discovered his love for music and making it. Frequent hallucinations he got consisted of voices, whispering things to him that made no sense whatsoever. Namjoon used all of this to write his song lyrics. He used the voices as inspiration to write music.
Despite all of the great things he had discovered while being alone and everything he'd learnt, there was still something missing. Something huge.
Losing contact with his family had left a huge void in his heart. Something that Namjoon just couldn't explain.
He would go to any lengths to be accepted by them. To be loved, held, kissed, hugged by them once again. He missed it so much. He dreamed to one day just magically wake up fine and go back to his normal life, with friends and family. He wished every night for his dreams to come true.
But as long as his schizophrenia was a part of him, all these dreams and wishes were impossible.
Then Namjoon stumbled across 00:00 High.
Relief. Happiness. Hope. Those and many other amazing emotions invaded Namjoon's being as he had finally found what he was looking for.
He had finally found something that could give him all he's wanted for the past 9 months.
He could finally be loved. Accepted.
Namjoon wasted no time in applying to the school. He had never been more happy. He saw the school as an opening to a new life. An offer that he wouldn't ever pass up.
Namjoon realized that he could finally have friends! Friends that would understand him and not be afraid as they are all on the same boat. All of his wishes were coming true.
Namjoon couldn't wait.
- - - -
As soon as Namjoon heard the sound of a letter being squeezed through his letterbox, he bolted up from his seat and ran towards the door.
He eagerly snatched the letter and wasted no time in ripping it open and reading the contents.

Namjoon danced around in pure ecstasy. He had been accepted! He was one step closer to being able to see and bond with his family. He was one step closer to making friends that would show him what it means to be loved.
The approval letter brought Namjoon nothing but happiness and he didn't want it any other way.
He couldn't wait to start next term.
Chapter 4: Jeon Jungkook
Summary:
Jeon Jungkook's backstory.
Chapter Text
Jungkook had always been shy. Ever since he was a child he was a shy boy.
But his parents never thought it would get this bad.
When Jungkook was little, it was very rare for him to be seen anywhere but by his parent's side. Even when he knew everyone in the room, it was as if someone had frozen Jungkook to the hip of his mother, and sealed his mouth shut.
Jungkook's mother tried her best to get Jungkook to go and play with his cousins when they came over, but Jungkook wouldn't budge.
Jungkook's parents hoped that he would grow out of it. It was pretty normal for children to have separation anxiety from their parents when young, some worse than others, so Jungkook's parents didn't think much of it. They merely brushed it off, thinking it was normal. That he was fine.
But as Jungkook got older, he got worse.
He became more and more closed off from those around him, preferring to spend more time alone and finding comfort within himself.
His parents started noticing unusual behavior from him as he got older. He began acting almost as if he was scared around them. His own family.
And Jungkook was. He was scared. His family weren't bad people, not at all, it was just his own mind. He thought way too much about what those in his life thought of him. From the way he dressed and acted, to the small things like how he ate or sat.
Jungkook thought they were watching and examining his every move, like they were going to judge him on being abnormal or strange.
So Jungkook was careful. He watched the way he moved, his actions, the way he sat, what he ate, how much he ate ect.
He even went to the point of avoiding eating around others, which Jungkook's parents noticed, but failed to comment on.
Jungkook was especially careful around his older brother. He was amazing and everything Jungkook wanted to be. Jungkook tried to be like him and follow what he does.
Sometimes Jungkook felt as if he was unable to talk to his own brother because he felt so unworthy and useless next to him.
Long story short, Jungkook cared way too much what other people thought of him, and it was affecting him greatly.
- - - -
Jungkook had his first panic attack when he was 10.
It was just a normal day that consisted of Jungkook overthinking and calculating his every move so he didn't attract attention from anyone.
He had already screwed up earlier in the day by accidentally running into someone and having to put up with their stares as they supposedly judged him.
They must be thinking about how weird I am. Get it together Jungkook.
The rest of the day was spent dealing with the toxic thoughts in his head as he replayed the situation in his head over and over, trying to think of every way it could have been avoided.
Unfortunately for Jungkook, he spent so long overthinking, he didn't hear the bell ring.
If there was anything Jungkook hated, it was being late to class. The idea of slowly opening the door to a deathly silent classroom while every single person in the room watched his every move was a pure nightmare in Jungkook's mind. He hated it.
And now he had to do it.
Jungkook's mind was going haywire as he was still trying to get over the situation from earlier and now this?
As he reached his classroom, he stared hopefully down the empty hallways. He was silently hoping that one of his classmates would also be late, then he wouldn't be the only one being stared at.
No luck. The hallways were eerily silent. Jungkook felt his breathing pick up as he placed his shaky palm on the door handle, trying to steel his nerves before walking in.
Jungkook tried taking a deep breath. Except he couldn't.
It was as if his throat had closed in on itself as Jungkook was unable to take in breaths. He didn't know what was going on, this had never happened to him before. He had never been more terrified in his life. It was as if the oxygen around him had just vanished as Jungkook leaned against the wall gasping.
A sharp pang suddenly attacked the center of his chest as it spread out across the rest. His chest ached ferociously as Jungkook desperately tried to breathe but it was all too painful.
His legs gave out and he was left gasping on the floor. In the moment, Jungkook genuinely thought he was going to die. He needed to breathe but he just couldn't! Jungkook's mind was too ransacked with worry and fear to process the voices around him, telling him to calm down. His breathing picked up as he felt a hand touch his knee and his vision blurred. It all became too much for the 10 year old as he succumbed to the darkness and passed out.
- - - -
Jungkook soon learned what a panic attack was. They became more and more frequent in his daily life. Jungkook dared to say that he had gotten used to them.
When Jungkook was 12, his parents decided enough was enough and finally took him to the doctors despite Jungkook's protests. Jungkook was diagnosed with severe anxiety at the young age of 12.
It only got worse when Jungkook started feeling physically sick at the thought of going outside. His parents thought he was being dramatic at first but cleaning the sick off the floor soon taught them.
Jungkook refused to go to school or leave the house at all as he chose to isolate himself away from everyone.
The mere thought of venturing outside into the unpredictable world made him feel sick to his stomach and caused waves upon waves of toxic thoughts to flood his mind.
His parents were already considering 00:00 High at this point since nothing else was helping Jungkook, not even therapy or medication helped. The only thing that put them off was Jungkook's constant pleas as the last thing Jungkook wanted to do was venture off to some strange boarding school all alone.
Jungkook begrudgingly made a promise to his parents that if he somehow got worse, he would go to 00:00 High.
Jungkook only managed to escape being sent to 00:00 High sooner by begging his parents and claiming that he would go there if he got worse, only saying that because he didn't think he could really get any worse.
But he did.
One day, when Jungkook's parents had finally gotten him to leave the house for a simple walk, he unfortunately ran into a group of boys from his school. They taunted him for leaving and mocked his stuttering when Jungkook tried to say something back to them.
The whole interaction made Jungkook become deeply self-conscious about his speaking abilities, causing him to basically become mute around anyone except those he really trusted (like his family). He was so afraid of being judged for his stuttering or speaking again and just afraid of saying something wrong or awkward in general, that he just decided to stop trying.
Of course this set back caused Jungkook's parents to enroll him in 00:00 High, entirely against his will.
- - - -
Jungkook blearily opened his eyes to his dad shaking him awake. He mumbled out a soft 'what' to his dad, wanting to know why he was waking him this early.
"Kook, your enrollment letter arrived. You got accepted!" His dad said happily, "I thought you might want to read it" He explained, handing over an already opened letter to his son, before leaving the room.
Jungkook was shocked at the sudden news but at the same time his hands were already shakily pulling out the letter. He opened it and worriedly skimmed over the letter, hoping that it wasn't true.

It was true. It was all true and there was nothing he could do about it.
Jungkook was going to be shipped off to some big scary boarding school all alone, and there was nothing he could say or do to stop it.
With tears silently rolling down his face, he did the one thing he was best at-
He panicked.
Chapter 5: Park Jimin
Summary:
Park Jimin's backstory.
Notes:
TW - Emotional abuse, bullying, self-harm, mentions of suicide attempts.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Jimin was never physically abused by his family, not in the slightest, but the way they treated him was arguably just as bad.
They were one of the main reasons why Jimin is the way he is today.
Ever since birth, Jimin had never understood what it truly felt like to be happy. His family had never supported him or talked to him. They had never been there to watch him grow up or say his first words, or even to watch him walk for the first time! They never woke him up for school or drove him to hang out with friends.
They were hardly even a part of his life.
You see, Jimin's parents were well known throughout Korea, being owners of a popular business. Their first child was instantly born right into the media limelight, being groomed and praised into being the next heir to the company. That was Jimin's older brother, the one that gained all the attention.
The couple's second child however, was a mistake. An accidental product of a bit of fun time gone wrong. They didn't want the child. They already had a male child fit to be the heir of the company. They didn't need another child. However, to avoid backlash and negative light from the media, they kept the child, but no one knew how they raised it.
The Park couple were pretty rich, owning a popular scandal-free business provided them with a lot of money. This is how they ended up living in a huge mansion with a servant quarters below it. The Park couple and Jimin's older brother happily resided in the mansion.
Jimin?
Jimin wasn't deemed useful enough to be living among them. He grew up living in the servants quarters with people who were too busy to even take care of him. Despite all of this, Jimin was a sweet boy, being raised in such a place forced him to learn how to look after himself at a pretty young age. He always stayed cheerful and optimistic, despite his situation.
Although that all changed one, unfortunate, day.
- - - -
Like any normal child, Jimin was curious. He was curious and that was normal. So when he was told that he wasn't allowed around the mansion and had to go straight downstairs after school, he got curious, curious as to what was up there.
Jimin knew that his parents and his brother lived up there. He just assumed it was normal to live separate from his family and hardly see them. However Jimin was still curious to what the upstairs looked like. He was bored and he wanted to explore, so he decided to be brave and go upstairs.
He regretted ever making that decision.
Jimin had only ever seen a small part of the house, having only walked down a corridor to the servant quarters. This time, Jimin went further into the house. Tip toeing along the cold floor he reached the first room, peeking his head around the wall he saw his brother in the huge room.
Jimin gasped and looked around the room, gaining the attention of his brother who started screaming for his mother and calling Jimin bad and evil. His mother soon came running into the room and gasped upon seeing Jimin.
"Mummy!" Jimin happily squealed, running up to his mother and hugging her tightly. Apparently Jimin's mother wasn't as happy because seconds later a harsh push sent 8 year old Jimin to the floor. He stared up at his mother in shock, wondering what he did wrong.
"Who told you you were allowed up here huh?" She started screaming right in the young boy's face, "THAT'S RIGHT, NO ONE! SO HOW DARE YOU COME DOWN HERE AND MAKE MY BABY BOY CRY YOU USELESS LITTLE BOY"
At this point, tears were running down Jimin's face as his own mother was screaming insults right to his face. He knew his parents didn't like to see him but he just assumed it was a normal thing as he didn't know any better, he didn't know they hated him.
In her rage filled rant, she ended up spilling the family's darkest secret. That was the day Jimin learned that he was never wanted, that he was an accident, that no one loved him or needed him.
That was the day that happy and optimistic Jimin disappeared.
- - - -
After that day, nothing was ever the same for Jimin. The harsh words from his very own mother broke his spirits and ruined his life. The harsh reality of his life led him to end up crying every night alone, just wishing to be loved and wanted by someone. It didn't help that whenever his family saw him, they pretended he wasn't even there, that made Jimin feel even more unhappy.
Jimin fell into depression without even realizing it. All happiness had faded from his life as if it never existed at all, everything was gloomy and dull and things he used to enjoy no longer excited him.
School was hell. He was dubbed as a snobby rich kid by most due to his parents wealth despite him being nothing of the sorts. Bullies picked on his small, weak body and teased him, attacking him both emotionally and physically. They got into his head telling him that the world was a better place without him and that no one loved him, and they were right.
Nobody did love Jimin. Not one single person.
The feeling of being unloved by the entire world got to Jimin and it wasn't long until he was resorting to self harm as a form of punishment to himself. Punishment for not being good enough. Soon enough Jimin ran out of space on his skin to draw. Draw as if his razor was a pencil and his skin was the canvas. It brought him pain that he deserved.
It was like Jimin was a cloth that had been rinsed of all happiness and love. Things that his mind told him he did not deserve. It was was only after Jimin's seventh failed suicide attempt that the servants got tired of his antics and tried to convince his parents to send him to 00:00 High. His parents happily agreed as this meant Jimin would be out of their sight for at least 2 years.
Jimin wasn't happy with the entire thing. Why would he be?
He was now even a burden to the servants, he didn't even deserve the opportunity to get better. He was mostly scared of going to a new place, after all a new place meant new people to torment and bully him endlessly.
It was only after a letter addressed to Jimin was harshly thrown down the stairs into the servants quarter that he finally accepted it. After all, there was no way he could go back now. He read the letter carefully, taking in every single word.

He just hoped his roommates were nice.
Chapter 6: Min Yoongi
Summary:
Min Yoongi's backstory.
Chapter Text
Min Yoongi had no self control. He knew what he was doing was bad but could never stop himself from doing it. He was obsessive.
That's what led his parents to send him off to 00:00 High. They were afraid of their own safety and Yoongi didn't blame them.
He almost burnt down their house after all.
You see, Yoongi was addicted to fire. Pyromaniac as some would call it. He could never help himself and just found himself drawn to the dangerous aspect of it all.
He first found his love for it during his family camping trips.
- - - -
"Yoongi, the fire is big enough now. You can start roasting your marshmallows"
That's all that 8 year old Yoongi needed to hear to sprint over to the fire with his packet of marshmallows. He fumbled about, trying to place the marshmallow onto the stick, smiling when it finally slipped on.
Yoongi brought his gaze to the blazing campfire in front of him and was instantly entranced by the beauty. He couldn't look away. Something about the way the golden flames danced and flickered in the breeze just made him happy. He couldn't explain it but he was addicted. To Yoongi, the flames looked so beautiful and precious that he just wanted to capture and hold on to them forever.
Before he knew it, he brought his pale palm closer and closer to the fire. The heat drifting from the flames was addicting to Yoongi. He looked down at the wood that was burning away and watched intently as it crackled and burned away. He wondered what else this fire could burn.
Yoongi steadily brought his palm closer and closer before dipping a finger into one of the golden flames at the top of the fire. He was instantly confused. Half of his mind and his natural instinct was telling him to pull away while the other half was enjoying it, basking in the warmth. Yoongi didn't feel the pain, the flames didn't hurt him. He was enjoying the feeling of the flames dancing around his fingers. He didn't even cry out when a burning sensation shot through his arm, if anything, he only felt pleasure.
The pleasure didn't last long though. Yoongi's dad ran over and yanked his son away from the fire. Yoongi blocked out the scolding, all he could focus on was the sensation he had just felt. He wanted to feel it again. He needed to feel it again.
That's how 8 year old Yoongi fell in love with fire.
Love that was only destined to go downhill.

Back to the present, Yoongi lay in his bedroom flicking his lighter on and off repeatedly. He loved the way the flame lit up his room with every strike, seeping into every dark spot around him. He ghosted his hand over the flame, smiling at the feeling of the flame nipping his skin.
On. Off. On. Off.
Yoongi was mesmerized by the power and beauty of the innocent looking flame.
Yoongi collected lighters. Some he favored more than others. He owned a pale blue lighter that had "YG" carved into the edge. He'd had it since he was 10 and it was very special to him.
Yoongi's parents knew about the lighter. They knew about everything. They were strongly against it all but for some reason they just decided to stay quiet.
Until they couldn't anymore.
Yoongi rolled over on the bed, bored out of his mind, still messing with the lighter.
He suddenly felt a strong urge to burn something. Before he could even think over his own actions, he was on his floor, book in hand. He remembered back to his parents strict rule about no fires in the house but his urge was too strong to think over his actions as he brought the lighter closer to the paper.
Before he knew it, the whole book was alight. They small, innocent looking flame soon turned into a ravenous beast, hungry for more. It quickly grew, swallowing the book whole as hundreds upon hundreds of pages were quickly reduced to mere ash.
Yoongi watched, smile etched onto his face. He enjoyed watching the fire take its victims quickly and quietly. He enjoyed watching the way the ash gathered in a pile on the floor and spread across his fingers. He enjoyed watching the fire grow and reached his hand, gently licking his fingers as if it was greeting him.
What he did not enjoy however, was the way the book crumbled and scattered fire into the carpeted floor of his bedroom.
Yoongi was in shock, snapping out of his fire induced trance, he quickly realized what he had done. He'd lost all control and now he had a price to pay for it.
He watched in horror as the flames spread across his carpet rapidly, filling the room with smoke. Normally, Yoongi would be beyond happy to experience something like this but not today. Not in his own home.
Smoke slowly but steadily filled the entire house, seeping into every crevice. Yoongi, along with his family ran to safety outside where Yoongi's parents scolding him relentlessly for being so reckless.
After a few terrifying hours of watching firemen battle the blaze, the fire finally was put out.
"The fire is out. Luckily it was caught fast enough that it didn't spread to any more rooms" The head fireman explained to the min family.
Yoongi's room however, wasn't as lucky. The room was burned and beaten. The only parts of the room that looked unscathed were the parts that were high up.
"I'm sorry. I really am." Yoongi apologized to the fire crew along with his family.
"Not this time Yoongi" His father spoke out, leaving Yoongi confused.
"Me and your mother have been talking and we believe that this is the right thing to do"
"W-what are you talking about"
"We are scared, Yoongi. You have no self control and now, you are a danger to all of us." His father muttered, sighing heavily he continued, "We are sending you to 00:00 High. That way you can revive help for whatever kind of dangerous addiction this is"
Yoongi was shocked. He was being sent away and his parents were scared of him. He opened his mouth to argue but his father beat him to it.
"Don't dare argue with us." Yoongi's mother said sternly, "Our decision is final. You are a danger to everyone around you and whatever is wrong with you, needs to stop"
Yoongi was too shocked to speak, he couldn't even look his parents in the eyes as he struggled to process their words.
Yoongi didn't know what was going to be in store for him in the future but he wasn't looking forward to it.

The last few weeks for Yoongi were hell. He was constantly being monitored by his parents 24/7, they never let him out of their sight unless it was for him to go to school. Even then, most of the staff at his school were informed of the situation and were always monitoring Yoongi.
He never had any privacy but he couldn't bring himself to complain. He had lit the fire, he had scared his parents, he was the one to blame.
He was the one with the problem.
Since his lighters were confiscated, Yoongi longed to feel the nipping of the flames against his skin again. He longed to watch something burn and wither away and to marvel at the fire's beauty once again. But there was also a part of him that couldn't bring himself to light a fire, especially around his parents. He was conflicted, both parts of him in a war with one another.
Yoongi's problem was bound to win. It wouldn't go away that easily.
It was another tense and silent day in the Min household, constantly of beady eyes constantly watching Yoongi's every move. The silence was broken by a sharp scrape of the letterbox, indicating that a letter had been posted through the door.
Yoongi's dad picked it up, stared at it silently for a few seconds before walking over and dropping it on Yoongi's lap. Yoongi was confused at first but soon understood. On the envelope in scrawly handwriting was written '00:00 High' big and bold.
He looked up ever so slightly to see his parents eyes set on him, watching his reaction.
Yoongi opened the envelope.

Yoongi felt overwhelmed. Everything was going too fast. Tears threatened to leak from his eyes and the stares from his parents became suffocating.
Ignoring their shouts, Yoongi ran. He ran, and he kept running until he reached the nearby woods. He just needed a break.
