Chapter 2: Day 1

Chapter Text

"Kacchan, wait up!"

The little kid with his green mop of curls ran down the small hill, his little feet catching up with another kid his age. The kid with his spiky blond hair looked back over his shoulder, waiting for his friend.

"C'mom Deku, we can't be late!"

Deku huffed, wiping his sweat. He looked at the forest they were beyond them.

"What do you want to show me anyway?" Deku asked, taking Kacchan's hand in his.

Kacchan walked further, still hand in hand until they find small lights surrounding them. Deku gasped.

"That! I wanna show you that cool light!"

They both looked at how the tiny creatures with lights flutter here and there, creating an enchanting view. Deku's eyes shined with awe, while Kacchan's was with triumph.

"Kacchan is so cool to find this place!"

Kacchan gave a smug look, "Of course I'm cool, I'm amazing!"

Deku nodded furiously, agreeing with him in a heartbeat.

"Yes, Kacchan is amazing!"

Somewhere behind them, Inko, Mitsuki, and Masaru called for them to come back. They could care less, when they were busy chasing each other around, and chasing those tiny little creatures along.

Chapter 3: Day 2

Chapter Text

"Cheers to Bakubro and Dekubro for the opening of their first hero agency!"

The bar roared and Tenya thanked them with his karate chops to hire the whole bar, Momo adding that this was going to be a rowdy night and it's a good idea. It was a lively evening by the Bakusquad, and Dekusquad joining in as the most enthusiastic entertainer of the night. From Denki being a dumbass to Kyoka enchanting ex-3A with her singing, it truly felt like they were back as 1A, those trouble-magnet students of UA.

Sometime later into the night, Katsuki found Izuku staring over the balcony. Katsuki silently thanking whatever divine up there that he chose an elegant bar on 2nd floor, because his husband looked like goddess of beauty herself blessed a son on earth. The night breeze brushed his green curls very gently and the stars prominently highlighted his freckles. They've been married for 3 years, been through hell and back together, earn their wounds and scars side by side. Wonder Duo.

They were 26, but here he looked 18, like when they were just graduating with fresh new looks.

"Not joining them, nerd?" Katsuki took the spot beside him, kissing his cold cheek. Izuku chuckled.

"Already did, actually! Did you know Uraraka is into tarot nowadays?"

"No, but that fucker gives me chills these days, so I'm not surprised."

Izuku burst out into laughter, slapping lightly at Katsuki's side, "Kacchan, that's not how it works! Anyways, she did me a reading for free earlier, and guess what?"

Katsuki raised his eyebrow, a side of his lips tugging., "Oh, what did it say?"

Izuku's eyebrows forrowed, his finger found the top of his lips.

"Hmm she said something about major cards, major... arcana? I think I got 2 of em. They were... the lovers and chariot, I think?"

"The hell do they mean?"

He looked back at his husband slyly, "She said something about us being successful and prospering with love?"

Katsuki smirked, walking toward him slowly, body leaning very close to his husband. He could smell all the shots they've both taken tonight. But it didn't matter, because Katsuki leaned in more, his eyes dark with desire.

"Hmm... does this prospering with love shit have anything to do with us being more in love, or...." the blond man took his husband's waist closer to him, whispering into his ear, "....or having time to make you sore in between shifts?"

He could hear the greenette took a sharp breath before feeling a warm hand on his chest, groping very lightly at one of his pecs. Katsuki felt a rumble in his chest.

"If I can do that to you too, guess I wouldn't mind."

He couldn't see his face, but he could tell that he was smirking back at him. This fucker, he'll have to teach him back when they got home.

Wait, we both drank, how the fuck do we get home?

Well shit.

Chapter Text

"Deku, your six!"

Katsuki swung his bat to his right, hitting right at the lifeless' jaw until it cracked, black rotten blood dripping down the unfazed deadman. Katsuki could hear the big thud not far from him, where Izuku would be. Katsuki swung the bat one more time. As his bat hit with enough impact to shatter the skull and destroy the central nervous sytem, he hoped the thud was also the zombie's body falling hard enough on the ground, and not his surviving partner.

Well, otherwise it wouldn't be his "surviving" partner no more.

Checking to make sure there was no more zonbies with his vision, he looked to his side, letting go his breath as the green-haired guy was still alive. The greenette laughed while scratching the back of his head, sweating just a bit more.

"Ahaha.... thanks, Kacchan."

Katsuki rolled his eyes and started walking towards the Jeep car-truck with supplies they've been short of the past week.

"C'mon nerd, let's get going. The trip to this safe haven shit or whatever is still half a day trip."

"A-ah sure! I'll look gather the supplies at the back!" Izuku said as he walked over the truck bed. Katsuki looked over the the driver's seat and thanking god that the key was still lodged in. By miracle, the window was open low enough for him to reach it.

"Hey, nerd, guess what?"

Izuku let the finger above his lips fall and he looked up to Katsuki's side. He raised his eyebrows as Katsuki shuffled his arm out of the window. Katsuki raised the car key and Izuku's eyes widen.

Katsuki smirked, "No more walking nerd, we can drive this shit!"

"Kacchan, that's great! Have you checked the gas yet?"

He jabbed the keys into the car door, recognizing it was the older version of the car-truck. Another luck, because beeping car keys can attract zombies.

"Not yet, checking it right now."

Katsuki opened the door, slid in and turn the engine on.

"Fuck yeah nerd, gas is full tank!!" Izuku's smile beamed as he opened the passenger's seat beside Katsuki.

"Ah, that's great! We can save the walking until we're up on the Blue Hills!"

He slid in, closed the door and drove off on a safer route. The route was abandoned, so for half a day, they spent it on the road. There was obviously no radio, they'd have to get closer toward Blue Hills where survivor refuge to get radio signals. They were too far for now.

"Say, Kacchan, I think there are CDs here, can I put them on?" Izuku said as he shoves his hand into the glovebox, rummaging through.

"Oh shit, yeah sure. When was the last time we listen to music other than our own singing, four years ago?"

Izuku laughed, taking one CD with the permanent marker saying 'Movies OST'. He put it into the CD player.

"Prepare for old movies music Kacchan!" Izuku said, smiling wild.

Katsuki smiled just as wide, feeling euphoric after months of dreads, trying to survive in the city.

They looked over to Katsuki's side of window. There was a beach out there, only very few numbers of walking deads. The beach looked beautiful, clean and untouched with fallen humanity. In another lifetime, before this whole virus spread, they would've gone there for a date. They asked each other out the night before the international break out. They hadn't talked about it since, focusing on trying to survive together. They could barely get by, day by day anyway, but Katsuki couldn't shake the feeling of sand he nearly forget. He looked back at the road, finding at the corner of his eyes that Izuku was also looking at the ocean, yearning. Katsuki felt real warmth, Izuku's calloused hand was soft on Katsuki's one holding the gears stick. Everything about this situation felt bittersweet, they lost their parents, friends, everything. But they had each other, it's enough. They could talk about love again once they took refugee. Until then, each other's presence was what they were grateful for and they savored it.

Chapter 5: Day 4

Chapter Text

"A-a-ah, Deku, Ground Zero, I wouldn't fight the restraint if I were you!"

The villain's wide eyes glinted under the dim lighting of the cold moldy room. He laughed maniacallly, his big stomach jiggling. Another villain beside him of smaller stature sat on an old chair, bored. Izuku and Katsuki stubbornly pulled at the chain, feeling mad. Mad that they got captured, mad that their captors were the ones they've been trying to bust down for months. The very operation that sent them nights of no sleep. The criminals were said to be of a branch of yakuza, smuggling high techs used within the national security level prison. Ironically, they were there, captured and chained side by side with quirk-neutralizer cuffs, ones that had been missing for months.

"I don't care, we're heroes, we don't give up until we stop you from doing anymore harm to society!" Izuku said in loud voice.

"Yeah like hell we're bowing down to nasty fuckers like you!" Katsuki added, spitting at the bigger villain's face.

The bigger villain face turned red, face contorted to those of movie villains, "Tch, getting our nerves? Bad choice, yall are gonna beg you're sorry!"

The bigger villain walked closer toward the heroes, his knifes looked sharper as he got closer to the light source.

"Menace-san, don't forget to restart these bodies!" The bigger villain said to his partner at the back.

The smaller, lankier one just waved, asking "Rage-san" to get it done quickly and not to worry about them dying.

"Now then," the Rage licked his lips, "itadakimasu."

He did the hand prayer posture, as if he was thanking Gods for his meal. He opened his eyes slowly, before swinging his knifes very quickly. Izuku and Katsuki could barely follow, before they felt pain stinging over their abdomen. Their suits were cut open, fresh blood trickled. The heroes furrowed their brows, sweat forming on their foreheads as they tried to even their breaths. It didn't really hurt, but it truly downed at them that their movements were limited, therefore no self-defense would safe them this time.

They're alone now.

"Heh.... I'm only just starting! Don't make it too easy for me!!"

Rage put the tip of his knifes at the very top of his cut, before plunging them deep. Both heroes scream, but Rage only continued to cut through deeper on the same cut. Katsuki and Izuku squirmed. The pain was suddenly overwhelming, their eyes rolled back in their heads. Muscles on their abdomen were cut open, they stung and burned, whenever they took deep breaths. Blood now dripped in slow steady stream to the side of their bodies, pooling beneath them.

Rage cut once more, even deeper. The already visible visceral membrane ripped, guts spilling out to their sides now that the very last barrier was cut open. Izuku and Katsuki gasped and sobbed, feeling the pain overtook his nerves and senses. It was too much, to the point their bodies shook uncontrollably. Tears stained all over their scrunched faces and quivering lips. They screamed and screamed, until their bodies slowly lose the fight, everything seemed to fade into black. Everything slowly became numb.

They finally questioned if this was really the end, feeling their bodies started to feel light and free. They thought it was a shame to leave this world so soon, not yet being the top pro heroes they wanted to be. Yet, they were relieved, that this pain will be over. And just then, when they were close to giving up rein of their bodies to death, their bodies shook even more. Sudden surge of current went through them, jolting them to fully awaken. Seconds later, their bodies were back responding the pain they received.

Katsuki and Izuku were set back to gasping, sobbing, screaming, shaking and thrashing all over the place. Just a second ago they were succumbing themselves to death, now they were fully conscious as Rage jabbed his hand inside their stomachs, grabbing a part of their intestines. He squeezed them until it ripped off, the heroes banged their heads to the cold tile floor as they gaped a silent scream. Rage took it into his mouth and started eating them, and the duo thrashed even more over the sudden extremely painful sensation.

On the other hand, Rage looked flushed red, face contorted to that of orgasmic expression every time he took a bite. Menace still sat at the back, activating his quirk that seemed to restart the duo's bodies condition, delaying death and allowing infinite amount of torture.

"AHAHAHA! Thanks, Menace-san! Now I can eat my dishes longer, and always fresh! Isn't that cool, I get to torture you FOREVER??"

The hero duo shuddered, just wanting everything to stop. Stop the pain, stop the hurting. At some point, they shook their heads and begged to stop.

"But I gave you the chance when I first came. You didn't take it, so too late for you! We got what we want, so you're just our toys now!"

More tears flowed to their cheeks, fear eating them out as they continued thrashing and screaming.

Chapter Text

"C'mon, nerd, we're almost there!"

Katsuki walked further in front of Izuku, leading the way through the green leaves and branches. Izuku had to keep swatting the branches off his face.

"Wait, Kacchan, you didn't tell me the forest around here would be this dense!"

Katsuki laughed off, "It's summer, Deku, every forest is dense this time of the year."

Swatting for the nth time, he found Katsuki offering his hand. He stopped walking, looking up at his...childhood friend-turned enemy-turned rival...? He wasn't sure, but Izuku knows one thing. That he admires this man, and every growth they had achieved, every hurdles they had overcome, he knows this man has his back, and he's sure it's likewise for him.

"C'mon Deku, we gotta keep moving if we wanna arrive just around lunch time."

Izuku's eyes gleamed, "Okay!"

And so he took his rival's hand, Katsuki still navigating through the hiking path. But all Izuku could feel is his heartbeat, drumming onto his chest nonstop. The heat creeping onto his cheeks that he prayed won't be too obvious. And the calloused hand holding him arm length. It was simple gesture, but holding hands had been very taboo way back. It's mostly about Izuku offering his, not the other way around, but it felt like he wasn't worthy to be offered a handhold anyway. So to have these rare moments was a blessing to him.

Little did he know, Katsuki flustered after realizing what he did. He mentally facepalmed himself, his own heart somersaulting in his rib cage.

Goddamn, he thought, why did I pull that shit??

Except he didn't had much time to think, because the trees were receding. For a moment, Katsuki forgot the embarrassment, instead feeling the sudden rush of excitement upon seeing the sky got clearer. They were almost there, the camping ground. He looked behind at his rival, beaming with wide eyes and big grin.

"We're almost there, Deku!"

Deku met his eyes and saw how Katsuki looked when he's at his happiest place, the summit. Where he isn't filled with worry or anger. His peaceful space. And Katsuki looked breathtakingly beautiful in the spur of moment. How could Izuku not gleam a smile just as big? For a moment, even Izuku forgot how nervous he was being alone with Katsuki.

"We're almost there, Kacchan!"

And truth to be told, the view when they reached the high camping ground was that in movies. He could see the village they set off from down there, the city further away. The wind breezed perfectly, brushing their awed faces lightly. Leaves fell around them in rounds, before taking off toward the villages underneath. Izuku hiked before, but with Katsuki here, it felt like entirely new experience. His cheeks ached when he smiled wider to Katsuki.

Katsuki couldn't believe that he was there with Izuku in the space he felt comfortable the most, space he felt safest. Saying Izuku looked beautiful when the wind brushed his green locks of hair, or when sunlight hit just right that his eyes shines. Or those freckles pronounced. Or when Izuku smiled at him, elated to be by his side. He would've clicked his tongue over the affection, but being in the safest space for him, he found himself reciprocating the smile. They laughed, screamed off the cliff that they made it.

Until the rush of adrenaline died off, they finally realized they never let go of their hands. So they parted, feeling the embarrassment crept back in slowly. Katsuki cleared his throat, telling Izuku to help him out on setting the soon to be bonfire.

Since it was too early in the afternoon to set bonfire on, they decided to sit around it on wooden logs. They opened their bento, Katsuki criticising Izuku's food he prepared and shared some of his sausages. Izuku gladly took it, knowing Katsuki's cooking is always great. They managed to hold conversation pretty decently, considering Katsuki had been going to his needed anger management counseling. As for Izuku, he had also been going out more, and able to deliver conversation at more ease. Once finished with the bento, both worked on the tents.

They brought a small 2 person tents each, so they could both have their own privacy. That was, until Izuku opened his tent bag and realized it's old and had holes on them.

"Deku, why the fuck didn't you check on them?" Katsuki asked with a higher tone, his brow furrowed.

Izuku looked down to his feet, feeling very much embarassed.

"I, the last time I had it, it was fine. But my bad, I should've checked it again last night."

Katsuki sighed exasperated, but tried to calm down.

"Fine, we're sharing the tent. But our stuffs stay outside".

Izuku looked up and sighed in relief. Still feling guilty, he sloppily helped the blond set up his-their tent for the night. The two later set up the bonfire, which they used to eat marshmallows after finishing their packed dinner. Of course, Katsuki still nagged like a mother. Izuku then pulled out some flowers he found back at the foot of the higher ground. He intended on making it a flower crown, except he realized that he didn't know how to. He only realized he'd been mumbling when Katsuki flopped beside him.

"Ka-kacchan?"

"Shut up, just lemme do that shit. Mina showed it to me once."

Izuku handed the flowers, feeling curious and decided to pull out more flowers to follow Katsuki's diligent handwork, obviously turned into a competition. Stems twisted, some petals fell, but Katsuki finished first.

"Heh, and that's how you do flower crown, Deku!" Katsuki held it with his chin high.

Izuku finished right after, "Wah, Kacchan's amazing! But I won't lose next time!" Izuku said with his usual determined expression.

Katsuki smirked, "Like hell I won't be even better next time!"

The two laughed it off, now that the two are better with resolving tension between them and keeping it more civil. They exchanged flower crowns, Izuku admiring almost instantly over Katsuki's creative twists and sequencing. Katsuki looked over Izuku's creation. It was definitely less clean cut than his, but it was his first and it was an impressive first. Izuku's sequencing was oddly intriguing, his twists were creative. Izuku urged him to wear it. Katsuki was hesitant, but Izuku teased him.

Like hell Katsuki would lose to Izuku over that, right? So Katsuki wore it with pride, saying he looked good with everything he wore. Izuku only agreed with him, telling him that he indeed looked good in that wacky first time flower crown creation.

"It's not bad, nerd."

Izuku whipped his head at Katsuki, his eyebrow creased and his eyes wide.

"Shit, don't make me say it again, Deku, it's not a bad first." Katsuki said as he looked away.

Izuku's eyes glimmered under the moonlight, his freckles complimented his eye smile.

"Thanks, Kacchan!"

The two eventually finished their food and marshmellow. The wind was getting colder, so it was time to retreat to their tent. And that was when it downed at them. There was only one tent. And the tent was too small to put any partition in it. So with it they had to make do, they scooch furthest away possible, feeling the heat on their cheeks rivaling the cold wind breeze at the camping ground. Izuku then felt his impulsive side took over him, feeling his body rolled toward Katsuki's.

"Hey, Kacchan?"

Surprisingly, Katsuki felt his own body moved, betraying his rational head. He came eye to eye again with Izuku.

"Huh?"

Izuku smiled, no turning back now. He inched closer to Katsuki, "Thank you, for taking me here, and for everything we get to do here. I really had fun."

Katsuki felt himself moved closer as well.

"Yeah? Well come with me again next time." he softly replied.

Izuku's eyes widen for the nth time that day, but the littles light available was encaptured in those beautiful green forest.

"Next time?" Izuku asked back, gazing back at the crimson red eyes gleaming with determination, which was almost impossible. They had zipped tight their tent and turned off their flashlight.

"Next time."

The next few minutes happened in a blur, but they knew the feeling of soft lips attaching to theirs. They knew the feeling when their bodies were eventually chest to chest. They knew the feeling of hands roaming endearingly.

That night, they slept in each other's arms for the first time. Everything was chaste, but full of love they had held onto for years. They slept really well that night, dreaming of seeing the other's face when they woke up, hoping it wasn't a dream.

Chapter Text

Izuku looked through his window that night, admiring the amazing stars alignment. Tonight was a beautiful night. Izuku smiled, a year had passed. He'd soon be a 2nd year. Tomorrow, everyone's going home for end term vacation. He'd be back at his place with his mom. But for the time being, he enjoyed the cold wind brushing his hair gently. His last time in this campus as a 1st year, a freshman. He was only moving up to 2nd year, but why did everything felt nostalgic? He wondered, what would Kacchan say?

---

"Kacchan, look! The sky is so pretty tonight!"

"Of course, Deku, we're further away from the city right now!"

The two sets of feet jumped around the wet grass, giggling and chasing each other around. They eventually settled down on the grass, gazing at the stars.

"Kacchan, do you know what adults keep saying these days?"

"What, soulmates? Do you believe in that thing?"

"I don't know, but adults are talking about it, so it must be cool!"

"Heh, even if it's cool, it doesn't exist."

"I think it's nice if Mr. Fate has someone for me!"

---

Katsuki leaned over the balcony gazing up, breathing in the relaxing wind breeze. He silently thanked his quirk can help him maintain body heat. On his bed, laid an opened novel. Written on the page was "Chapter 19: Every Lifetime". On the page right next to it was a quote.

If soulmate exists, I'd like to come to you in every lifetime, when the stars align just right. Like tonight.

Katsuki's chest ached. They could meet up because they're going home tomorrow, and they could visit each other anyway.

But the thought of letting the memory of his 1st year end like this, why did it hurt? Why did it hurt... to know that they've made progress in their healthy rivalry? Why did it hurt to know that they've become friends by now? Why did his heart ache for something else?

Something... more?

Chapter Text

Finishing their meal at their garden, Izuku held his bulging stomach.

"Wah Kacchan, I'm full! Kacchan's cooking will always be my fave, restaurants could never!"

Katsuki smirked, "Happy anniversary, nerd," he took Izuku's hand into his blazer's pocket.

Izuku gave him his signature wide eye smile, "Happy anniversary, Kacchan. Here's to five years, and another five years in the future!"

Katsuki smiled back, kissing the Izuku's temple tenderly. He then took out Izuku's hand. "Wait here, I'll be back in a second."

Izuku nodded, letting Katsuki go back into their house. He heard steps back a moment later. Izuku looked back and gasped to see Katsuki with an acoustic guitar, the strap already slung around him.

"Awww Kacchan you're such a romantic! You're gonna play me a song?"

"Fuck yeah Deku, so stay right there."

Katsuki sat back beside him. He started to strum his guitar, Izuku frowned as the song seemed familiar. His eyes widened when it struck to him, the k-drama they had been watching on day offs. His eyes gleamed over the moonlight. Oh, it would be an understatement to say Izuku was mesmerized. No words could describe that. He was thoroughly enchanted by Katsuki, he actually had to fight hard to focus on the song and lyric instead of Katsuki's bewitching face when he's focused on what he's doing.

Izuku managed to hear his favorite parts.

Did You Miss Me

Even if my heart changes

I Will

I Wish You Next Let’s stay just as we are

Will I be able to go back?

When I Saw You

And throughout the song, Katsuki barely looked over his guitar. His eyes were on Izuku. Always seeing Izuku.

Always behind of you

Izuku felt tears in his eyes.

I’ll bury you in my fading memories

I’ll live just with those memories

Your eyes, your face

If I can forget all of it

Will I be able to go back?

When I Saw You

Katsuki put his guitar aside, pulling a small box from his blazer's pocket. He opened to a beautiful engagement ring, from the very jewelry brand Izuku had always fancied. Izuku clasped a hand to stop his sobbing, his tears fell all over his cheeks. Katsuki sang the last line.

Always behind of you

"Deku, no, Midoriya Izuku, I've watched you grow into the amazing man you are. From the quirkless little kid, always behind me, following my step, to inheriting world's number one hero title, to becoming the next symbol of peace. Having quirk later on than the rest of our classmates in UA, you fought hard to make that quirk yours. And you did, here we are,

"In the process, I've hurt you. I've said things I regretted saying. I'm just glad you saw through me instead of doing the nasty things I've said."

Izuku shook his head lightly, "Kacchan-"

"Hold on I'm not finished,

"Izuku, I did things I've regretted, but you saw through me, received my punches because you believed that only you can receive my feelings. I hate that it had to get that far, but I'm glad that it was you. I'm glad that you never back down from your dream, never back down on owning your powers, but most importantly, backing down on me. When you had every chance and evidence to leave me. You didn't. Instead, you said, even though you're fans of All Might, I'm the hero you admired. I'm the actual hero you admired the most, because I'm real, there, standing beside you,

"I've grown from that nasty fucker I was," Katsuki laughed mockingly at himself, "but I know I'll forever bring that regret to grave. And honestly? I don't mind, I don't mind that at all. I don't mind if that'll stop me from doing the last possible regret in my life."

Katsuki pushed the guitar to his back, tears now flowing on his own cheeks. He felt his boyfriend cupped his cheeks. Izuku asked softly as he wiped Katsuki's tears with his thumb, "And that is?"

Katsuki tried to smile so hard, but he couldn't hide the small sobs racking him. The hand not holding the ring box held onto Izuku's strong muscled forearm. "Not asking your hand in marriage."

Izuku's viridian read over Katsuki's crimson. Neither had stopped crying. Izuku took the cupped face closer, and Katsuki relented any guard and kissed Izuku. The kiss was slow, but interrupted once in a while by each other's sobs. When they parted, they stayed close, feeling their foreheads and nose touch.

"Bakugou Katsuki, I will not say yes,

"until you understand that I've always forgiven you, and that I want to marry you, with you knowing that I don't want any regrets brought to grave. I want to live happily forever with Katsuki with no more regrets."

Bakugou chuckled, "Fine nerd, I promise, no more regrets."
