Chapter Text

Watching Zhao Yunlan for the last time was like watching him for the first.

His head shaking in negation, his eyes filled with tears of despair, his lips pale with an unspoken pray, his empty hands trembling with shock and sorrow.

He was beautiful. Even when he was screaming for him, even when he was bleeding out. 

Even at the end.

It was like a revelation, an expected pain in the chest, a stab –oh, so close to the heart.

It hurt and it was welcoming.

Shen Wei smiled and wondered with his last breath, “Will I see him again?”

When it all started again the first thing he noticed was the silence.

A silence that came from a calm that wasn’t a one before an unjust tempest.

It was real, warm and streaming all around his own body, refreshing his mind and bones.

And then came the memory and the echoed pain of an unregretted choice he made.

He consciously relaxed and closed his eyes. 

He was well aware of the concept of waiting for something –someone to come.

And waiting surrounded by this silence wasn’t at all a bad way to do it.

After all, he was faithful.

“Shen Wei, are you awake?”

The sun was warm on his skin, Shen Wei really missed it.

He was surrounded by his lover’s arms and he nearly fell asleep.

His heart was so full of joy that his eyes tried to fool him and get wet. Shen Wei closed them and smiled.

“Are you all right?” Asked softly Zhao Yulan, his fingers touching Shen Wei’s tears and fade them away.

 Shen Wei loved him so much, his chest blooming with the same energy of a flower under the first light of a sunset.

“Everything is finally as it should be.”
