Chapter Text
Jungkook gathered the dishes from the table wiping the table down as the blue-haired boy passed by the café window for the, if Jungkook had counted right, the sixteenth time before coming in and tucking himself in corner booth dropping his head onto the table.
Jungkook stayed at the counter serving the customers that came in, glancing at the boy out of the corner of his eye every once in a while. His chin rested on his arms as he gazed longingly at the dessert display.
The boy ran his hands through his hair, pulling at it slightly. He glared at phone tossing it across the table before going back to biting his lips and staring at the cakes.
Jungkook sighed and grabbed a brownie, seeing tears in the other’s eyes after almost an hour of sulking setting it down Infront of him, nose itching at the strong smell of distress. Jungkook tried to smile reassuringly as the boy’s head snapped up.
“I just- I’m really sorry. I’m sure the brownie is great and all, I mean look at it it's shining, but I can’t really- I’m not homeless or anything not- not that something is wrong with homeless people. But I’m not- I have home and-and um I don’t have my wallet with me so I shouldn’t- I can’t, even though it looks so good and yeah.”
Jungkook, on the other hand, was not expecting the stranger to have such a deep voice, not that he was complaining.
“That’s alright, we all have a bad day sometimes. It's on the house.”
The boy positively beamed and Jungkook could help mirroring the boxy smile
Are you sure? I mean you don’t have to, I’m really hungry but I'll understand if you have to take it back, It does look really good though” despite his insistence was already holding the fork but glanced back up at Jungkook anyway as if he would suddenly change his mind.
Jungkook chuckled lightly and shook his head. “It's fine really.”
The boy swung his legs savouring each spoonful of the cake. Jungkook head back to the counter feeling his exceptionally bad day get slightly better.
Annnnnd he was back to glaring at his phone. At least the tears were gone.
He shuffled towards Jungkook when he saw him looking questioningly.
So, you know how I said I wasn’t homeless cuz you know I’m not. But I can’t get home- no it’s not that I can’t I-I don’t know how to and my phone died and I forgot my wallet and I don’t exactly know where I am. Usually, Jin Hyung or-or Yoongi Hyung would come and get me but they went to the fae realm this morning to get something and-”
Jungkook physically saw him deflate after his rant.
“I’m lost.”
Jungkook had already come to that conclusion a while ago.
“My shift ends in ten minutes. My phone is an older model but I’m pretty sure my charger would work. If you want, we can go there, and you can charge your phone?” he offered gently hoping he wouldn’t come off as a creep.
The boy clearly shared none of his concerns as he smiles and settles down in a seat near the door. Jungkook changes his clothes as Choi takes over, shoving his hands in his pockets and walking towards the boy.
“Um let’s go, I guess.”
It doesn’t take them long to reach Jungkook’s apartment a block away. Jungkook forces the door open.
“Sorry, it tends to jam a little when it rains.”
Jungkook stepped over a stack of books on the floor clearing some space on the bed for the other to sit on.
“Here you can plug your phone here.”
The boy skipped over dodging the books and papers on the floor. “Oh, thanks-” he stops glancing back at Jungkook “wait we didn’t do introductions.” He stuck his hand out beaming “I’m Taehyung.”
Jungkook smiled slipping his hand into the other’s “I’m Jungkook. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He hesitates, pushing down the feeling of anxiety “If you don’t mind me asking, Taehyung-ssi how old are you?”
Taehyung plugs his phone and sits down cross-legged on the bed, looking up at Jungkook’s voice. “548.” He huffed.
“Oh, I’m 423.”
Taehyung froze staring open mouth at him, before throwing his head back laughing. “Oh, thank fuck, someone is actually younger than me.”
Jungkook was beyond confused at this point but let the other be. At least I don’t have another mistake to mull over at night.
He moved towards the stove set up in one corner of his apartment. “Would you like some ramyeon Taehyung-ssi.” He asked pulling out his last pack of ramyeon wincing slightly when he realized he still had a week before the month ended.
“Yes please, it's been ages since I’ve had some. Jin hyung never lets us eat anything unhealthy.”
Jungkook leaned against the wall as he waited for the noodles to cook.
“So, what do you study Jungkook-ah?” Taehyung asked
“Offensive magic mostly.” Jungkook poured the cooked ramyeon in a bowl, grabbing a pair of chopsticks and handing them to Taehyung before sitting down on his stool.
“That’s really cool. I don’t really have a magic major. I do fashion design mostly and sometimes photography too. I couldn’t decide on one, so I took both majors. Which in hindsight wasn’t the best of ideas but I’ve never been known for my patience” Taehyung shovelled the noodles in his mouth sighing happily at the taste.
Jungkook hummed his eyes falling on the other’s phone “Taehyung-ssi “
“Hyung.”
Jungkook looked at him confused.
“Please call me Hyung, no one has ever called me that, please I promise you are not being rude or anything.”
Jungkook swallowed “Hyung,” he ignored the giggles that came with the word “you should maybe turn on your phone now?”
Taehyung finished the last of his ramyeon soup before reaching out to grab his phone and turning it on, cringing at the onslaught of notifications. He held the phone up to his waiting for someone to pick up.
“Are you okay? Are you hurt? Where are you? You need me to call the hyungs? I’m gonna call the hyungs.” Jungkook could hear someone frantic come through the phone.
“Jiminnnieeeeee, I got lost,” Taehyung whined, the smell of distress finally fading a bit. There was a beat of silence before the other replied.
“Kim Taehyung, I’m going to kill you.”
“uh-huh okay. You can come pick me up now.” Taehyung fell back on the bed. Jungkook heard a sigh from the other side.
“Where are you?”
“Ahh, no idea. Jungkook-ah where are we”
Taehyung relayed the address promising to text him in case he forgets “Just give me a call when you reach the apartment building, I’ll come downstairs.”
“Apartment building? Whose apartment are you at.”
“Jungkook-ah’s my phone died so he lent me a charger.”
“You went with a random stranger to his apartment.” He asked drily.
“I can take care of myself.” Taehyung pouted.
“Uh huh tell Jin-hyung that.”
Taehyung tensed and Jungkook had to fight the instinct to protect the other even though he really wasn’t sure what the threat actually was. He just hoped he didn’t get the other in too much trouble.
“Jiminie is coming to pick me up. He’s one of my bondmates.”
Jungkook nodded not sure what to say. They sit in comfortable silence for a while, Taehyung completely focused on his phone.
Jungkook hears an engine stop right outside his building right as Taehyung’s phone rings. He stands up with the other at a loss with what to do.
“Come on Jungkook-ah, I’ll introduce you two,” Taehyung says while moving out the door and Jungkook is left with no choice but to follow.
A blond boy leaned against a bike texting someone, putting his phone in his pocket when he saw them approaching.
“Jimmminieeeee.” Taehyung whined going limp in the other’s arms tucking his head in the crook of the other’s neck. The tension that Jungkook hadn’t even noticed in the other’s shoulders melted.
“Hi.” He whispered.
“Hey.”
“Home?”
“Home,” Taehyung affirmed not moving an inch.
“Taehyung-ah?”
“In a minute.”
The blond sighed, but the other be his eyes finally landing on Jungkook.
“Um, Tae I think you forgot your friend.”
Taehyung straightened looking a bit sheepish. “Jiminie this is Jungkook. Jungkook-ah Jimin.”
Jungkook smiled shaking the other’s hand. “It's very nice to meet you.”
“Thank you for helping this idiot,” Jimin smirked pointing at Taehyung.
Jungkook shook his head laughing lightly at Taehyung protests “Its fine really.”
Jimin wrapped the slightly too big hoodie tighter around himself. “We should get going.” He said.
Taehyung presses his lips to Jimin’s temple, beaming at him “I’ll be there in a minute.” Pushing Jimin towards his bike. He waited until Jimin was back on his phone before turning to Jungkook.
“Thanks for your help today Jungkook-ah. Really this day would have been much worse without you.” Taehyung’s voice was soft, he raised his hand petting Jungkook’s hair. Despite being the same height Jungkook couldn’t help noticing how much bigger his hands were.
He closed his eyes instinctively leaning into his touch. “My coven owes you a debt.” His voice was laced with something, a coven’s promise. “Let me take you out for dinner tomorrow.”
Jungkook shook himself out of his haze. “I don’t know hyung.”
“Nope, we are going. I don’t take no for an answer.” Taehyung turned around heading towards Jimin.
“Ah, Taehyung-Hyung!”
“I'll pick you up after your shift tomorrow.” And with that Jungkook was left alone.
He walked up to his apartment, grabbing a water bottle on the way to his bed, drinking it in one go. HE stretched, joints popping, the weariness from his day finally setting in. He crashed on his bed burrowing under the covers, falling asleep almost instantly.
