Chapter 1: Josuke's crush
Chapter Text
Josuke became a constant strain on Jotaro's already very limited patience.
Ever since his grandpa came clean about his affair the Higashikatas started to slowly become part of the family. As to be expected his mother was completely thrilled to find out she had a little baby brother, seeming indifferent or oblivious to the reason why. She constantly offered to take care of him. Tomoko, Josuke's mother, has been more than delighted to take her up on that offer. Multiple times. Which was the reason why instead of meeting up with Kakyoin to study he was left to babysitting his 6 year old uncle. His mother had something urgent to take care of and for some reason both women thought it a good idea to let Jotaro, the notorious delinquent, superwise the little gremlin.
They sat in his living room. Josuke focused on doodling something on a piece of paper. Jotaro was content to just glaring at the little brat until he heard a doorbell. He briefly thought about ordering Josuke to open the door but fought better of it. He stood up. Josuke followed him. For some reason the little boy seemed to like him. Good grief. He was pleasantly surprised when he opened the door to a grinning Kakyoin, his lip tugging slightly upward.
“What are you doing here?”
“I left my notebook here.” Jotaro snorted.
“I could have brought it to you tomorrow.”
“Just because you get to slack off for today doesn’t mean I should do the same. I am the student council president after all.” He tried slipping under Jotaro's arm when he noticed Josuke staring at him wide eyed. Kakyoin smiled his signature smile and bent down to be on eye level with the little brat.
“And just who might you be, big guy?” He asked, tilting his head slightly to the side.
“Josuke” The boy answered looking at his feet.
“Oh so you’re Jotaro’s uncle then? You look very responsible so i hope you’re keeping your nephew out of trouble.” Josuke looked up, puffing up his chest. Seemingly very proud. Jotaro snorted.
“Should i remind you I’m the one babysitting him.”
“Now, now, Jotaro.” Kakyoin waved his finger at Jotaro, smirking. “You should show more respect to your uncle.”
“Yeah” said Josuke pointing a finger at his nephew, smiling broadly.“You should call me uncle Josuke from now on.”
“See what you’ve done.” said Jotaro pointing at his uncle with both hands. Kakyoin got up and clasped both hands behind his back. He looked up innocently at Jotaro trying to hide his smirk by batting his eyelashes distractingly. Jotaro hated how his chest fluttered everytime the redhead did that. Kakyoin had him wrapped around his little finger and the little shit he probably knew it. He reached for his hat to try and hide his face.
“Good grief. Let’s just grab your notebook before you can steam up more mischief.” He turned around making his way back into the house.
“So eager to get rid of me Jojo?” Two pairs of footsteps followed him. He would have prefered Kakyoin to stay here instead of Josuke, but he couldn't exactly say that.
“Wait here. I’ll be right back.”
He retrieved Kakyoin's notebook from his room while the redhead occupied his uncle in the living room.
When he came downstairs he spotted Kakyoin showing Josuke his gameboy. Kakyoin used to ramble his ear off about it before it even came out. The little gadget had its premiere on a school night and Kakyoin was fretting it might be sold out before the day ended, so Jotaro did the only reasonable thing and skipped school in order to get the gadget for his best friend. The excited squeal and hug have been more than worth standing in line for the whole night. Jotaro even got a small peck on the cheek which Kakyoin was veeeery embarrassed for after he registered what he had done. Jotaro has been teasing him about it for days. He put his hand to his cheek. He felt it tingle every time he thought about it.
He sat next to his friend and handed him the notebook. Kakyoin tried to stand up but Josuke hugged him tightly.
“Don’t leave yet. You can stay and play with us, right Jotaro?” Kakyoin looked between the two Joestars unsure what to say.
“Sure, if he wants to. I don’t mind.” He’d like Kakyoin to stay too.
“Alright.” Kakyoin smiled at Josuke “I suppose I can stay for awhile.” He looked up at Jotaro, giving the taller man smile as well.
Kakyoin ended up staying for a few hours. Josuke was practically glued to the redhead. They played Kakyoin's gameboy and started drawing together. The two of them seemed to have a great time and Jotaro felt a little left out. He considered studying, but he didn’t feel in the mood to and simply opted for watching the other two.
When his mother came she was pleasantly surprised and instantly tried to make Kakyoin stay for dinner. Holly’s cooking was one thing Kakyoin never said no to. Once they finished eating, Kakyoin started gathering up his things. The sun was almost set by the time he was heading out. He ruffled Josuke's hair which the kid pouted about and grabbed Kakyoin's sleeve.
“Can I pat your head too?” The small boy asked, “Your hair looks very pretty.” Kakyoin laughed and bent down so the kid could reach his head.
“See Jojo? He thinks my hair looks cool.”
“The kid wants to style his hair like that guy from grease. You should hardly consider his opinion on that matter.” In the meantime Josuke stuck both of his hands in Kakyoin's hair.
“It’s really soft. ” Josuke marvelled.
“Yeah. I’m sure Jotaro is just jealous. He probably has horrible hat hair.” Jotaro just glared at him and Kakyoin grinned back. He stood up, trying to style his slightly disheveled hair into it's original form.
“Look who's talking.” Jotaro mumbled. The redhead shot him an unimpressed look.
Kakyoin said bye to Holly before making his way to the door. Josuke waved goodbye and went to see if Holly would offer him any dessert. Jotaro decided to accompany his friend out. They both said their goodbyes while Kakyoin still tried to get his hair in order. Jotaro wanted nothing more than to reach over and ruffle it again.
***
The next morning started with Josuke energetically jumping on Jotaro’s bed. His mother stood in the door, giggling at the sight until Josuke accidentally jumped on Jotaro’s stomach knocking the wind out of him.
“Oh dear. Are you alright?” His mother was by his side in a matter of seconds.
“Good grief I’m fine. Quit worrying woman.” He wasn’t calling her a bich anymore. Not since she had the illness. It was like a wake up call. He would never forgive himself if the last things he would say to his mom would be him cursing her out. “Why’d you wake me up at such an ungodly hour anyway?”
“We’re getting some ice cream.”Josuke announced. “And then we’re going to a playground.”
“Josuke wanted to ask if you want to come with us.”
“No.” Jotaro deadpanned. It was far too early for this shit.
“Oh don’t be like that Jotaro.” His mother cooed. “We’re going to have so much fun.”
“I said no. I need to study.” And he wanted to invite Kakyoin over since their last study date was cancelled. His grades drastically improved since he befriended the redhead. Jotaro was always smart. He just didn’t bother with school, but Kakyoin kept him motivated.
“Oh it’s alright i suppose.” His mother deflated slightly. She wouldn’t say anything about him studying though. She was incredibly happy that he and Noriaki became friends and that he started to actually attend school. “Do you want to join as for breakfast at least.”
“No.” He turned around in his bed.
He tried to fall asleep but it was futile. After a few minutes he stood up to make a call.
“Hello. This is the Kakyoin residence.” A sleepy voice greeted him. He smiled imagining his friend still disheveled from sleep. His hair a fluffy mess just like yesterday. He shook his head. Focus Jotaro.
“Hey sleepy head.”
“Jojo?”
“Yeah. Want to come over to study? "Kakyoin snorted on the other side.
“Since when are you the one who wants to study?”
“Oh come on. It’s boring to study alone.”
“Alright I give you that. When do you want me to come? Are you still babysitting your uncle today?”
“No. My mum wants to take him to the playground.”
“Alright. Let me get dressed and eat breakfast.” The smell of batter hit Jotaro’s nostrils.
“My mum is making waffles.”
“Shit. I’ll be there in 15 minutes.” Kakyoin said and hung up.
He made it in 23 minutes. Disheveled and grinning from ear to ear. His hair was uncombed and he was wearing simple jeans and a ‘cherry bomb’ Tshirt he stole from Jotaro’s closet that the taller man outgrew anyways. His redheaded friend had an unhealthy obsession with everything cherry related.
“I demand food, Jotaro.” The taller boy snortend and moved aside so Kakyoin could enter his house. The redhead went straight into the kitchen and plopped himself on one of the chairs. “What does the chef recommend today?”
Jotaro wordlessly put all the sweet condiments his mother left for the two boys and plopped two waffles back into the waffle maker to heat them up. He could wolf down all the waffles by himself but Kakyoin was the only human he was willing to share his mothers cooking with.
Once the waffles were heated he served one for each of them and plopped the next batch into the waffle maker.
Jotaro liked his waffles plain while Kakyoin always made an enormous mountain of toppings. He was pretty sure the waffle was cold by the time the redhead finished creating the monstrosity. If Kakyoin's mouth wasn’t inhumanly wide there would be no way he could take a bite of that thing. Even so, the redhead managed to give himself a whipped cream mustache.
“Shit this is good.” The boy muttered.
“Can you even taste the waffle under all of that stuff?” Kakyoin just stuck his tongue out and continued to eat. Jotaro finished his second waffle before Kakyoin was done with his sugary monstrocity so he decided to do the only reasonable thing and steal the still warm waffle despite Kakyoin’s protest.
After the third batch was done he turned the machine off.
“Hey that’s not fair. I only got two.”
“Yeah. But with a mountain of sugar. I’m not about to let either of us suffer from your sugar rush.”
Once they were finished Kakyoin collected their plates and rinsed them off while Jotaro put all the condiments into the fridge.
They studied for about four hours before his mother and Josuke came back. His uncle was carrying some kind of plushie. Jotaro groaned. His mother really couldn’t say no to kids.
“Good morning miss Holly, hello Josuke.” Kakyoin greeted them both politely. Josuke ran straight to them once he saw them. He started excitedly telling the two teenagers about his day while Kakyoin was asking him questions. He wished his mom and uncle would be gone for longer. But instead he had to share Kakyoin’s attention with Josuke and that little brat was hoarding it.
“Are you pouting?” Kakyoin asked. Josuke was draped over his legs and was drawing something.
“No.”Jotaro deadpanned “I don’t pout.”
“You were pouting.” Kakyoin was grinning. “Are you jealous your uncle likes me better than you?”
“No.” He was jealous, but not because of that. Kakyoin leaned in and oh god he was too close.
“Don’t worry. I still think you’re cool.” He smirked at him. All too endearing, which was absolutely unfair. Did his friend not notice what he was doing to Jotaro? He leaned back and all Jotaro wanted to reach out for him and pull him back and hug him but the smaller man turned to his uncle. “Hej Josuke. I have a deal to make.”
Josuke looked up at the redhead, regarding him.
“If you let Jotaro and me study for a while longer I’m going to bring you something really cool tomorrow, ok?” Josuke lit up.
“What is it?”
“Now. Now. I can’t tell you or it would be a lousy surprise. Now.” He leaned closer to Josuke as if he was telling him a secret. “Do we have ourselves a deal?” Josuke took his hand out and they shook it.
“Deal.” He said and ran to the kitchen to bother Jotaro's mom. Kakyoin turned to Jotaro once again.
“You have me all to yourself again.” Kakyoin teased and Jotaro felt his stomach do a flip at the sentence.
“Great.” He said trying to keep his voice leveled and thankfully succeeding. “We can revise that chapter now.” They managed to work another two hours in peace before Josuke came running in again.
“Are you done yet? Auntie says dinner’s ready.” Kakyoin grinned at Jojo.
“It seems like a good point for a break to me.”
“Please, you just want to eat my mom's cooking. Half of the time I’m convinced it’s the only reason you’re friends with me.”
“You saw right through me” Kakyoin grinned at him, standing up.
Jotaro's mom said it looked nice outside so she made the boys dust the veranda table and lay down the plates. Josuke and Kakyoin chatted through the whole meal. Once they were done Kakyoin declared that he should head home.
“As much fun as it was I think I better be going. I still need to stop somewhere to fulfill my end of the deal.” He winked at Josuke.”See you tomorrow.”
***
Kakyoin showed up the next day grinning like a madman.
“Is Josuke still here?”
“Unfortunately.” Kakyoin scoffed at the reply.
“You’re being ucharecteristly mean Jojo, what’s gotten into you?”
“I’m always mean.” Kakyoin regarded him with a look that said he didn’t really believe it. Fuck he has gotten soft around the redhead.
“May I come in?” Jotaro stepped aside to let his friend in. As soon as they made it halfway through the hallway Josuke trapped Kakyoin’s legs in an embrace almost tripping the man.
“Hey there, Josuke. I have a surprise for you.” Josuke’s eyes shined.
“What is it?” Kakyoin took out hairspray from a bag he was carrying and smiled proudly. Josuke tilted his head.
“I don’t get it.”
“Let’s go sit in the living room. Is your mom home Jotaro?”
“No she went to the neighbours for tea.”
“Too bad. I thought she could help us. But we’ll make do.”
Once they seated themselves in the living room Kakyoin emptied the content of his bag. Mostly hair products and a book. Jotaro picked it up.
“I stopped by the library yesterday and found this and I just knew I had to lend it out.” With that Kakyoin snatched the book from him. He scrolled through the pages and showed something to Josuke. The kid gasped at the sight. “We could try making it if you want.” Jotaro peeked through Kakyoin's shoulders. It was a pompadour.
Jotaro was tasked with providing a mirror while the two boys set to work. Kakyoin was reading the instructions and helping Josuke comb his hair in the right direction. The end product looked a bit off but both of them seemed proud and Jotaro wasn’t about to shoot down their joy. Especially Kakyoins.
His mother came back soon after they were finished and praised both boys. She promptly took pictures of Josuke who was smiling ear to ear.
Kakyoin excused himself soon after that and went home as it was getting late. Josuke would be picked up by his mother tomorrow which Jotaro was much too eager for. It was cute how well Josuke and Kakyoin went along but he was getting jealous and he certainly didn’t like the feeling.
They ate supper in silence and Josuke kept glancing at Jotaro.
“Is Nori your boyfriend?” Josuke asked after a while. Jotaro started choking on his water. His mother's expression was a mix of concern and amusement. She tried hiding her grin behind her hand. Jotaro glared at her. She wasn’t helping. He drank some water to calm himself down before speaking.
“No.” He deadpanned.
“But you like him?” Was he that obvious?
“He is my best friend of course I like him” He said, mostly to assure himself then to anyone else. The feelings for his friend were definitely not romantic. The look his mother shot him meant he wasn’t convincing anyone.
“Good.” Stated Josuke “Because I’m going to marry him” Jotaro choked on his water the second time. His mother decided to clap on his back, but it was to late as Jotaro felt his soul leaving his body.
Chapter 2: love confession's
Summary:
Kakyoin remains oblivious.
Chapter Text
Josuke, unfortunately for Jotaro, was once again in town. He hoped that the little crush for Kakyoin his uncle developed would be long forgotten, but he was wrong. Jotsuke kept asking about his redheaded friend the minute he arrived. He considered avoiding Noriaki for the entirety of the weekend to hinder Josuke’s love confession. He didn’t like the idea of someone confessing their love for the redhead. Jotaro knew he was being selfish. Kakyoin had the right to date. He didn’t belong to Jotaro. He just needed to survive the weekend and then he could focus on his feelings again. Well more likely focus on shoving them down.
Jotaro’s mum was making dinner and she sent him to fetch a few ingredients. Josuke insisted on tagging along, and Jotaro wasn’t really in the mood to argue so he begrudgingly agreed.
The shopping trip took longer than expected as Josuke insisted on helping search for stuff and getting lost three times. By the time they stood at the checkout line Jotaro wanted nothing more than to get home.
He was holding Josuke’s hand in one hand and balanced the groceries in another. They were halfway home when some girls from school spotted him on the way and started gushing over Josuke and Jotaro. Thankfully both his hands were busy so they couldn’t latch onto him. It didn’t stop them from pinching Josuke’s cheeks making the kid slightly anxious. Jotaro fastened his pace, not wanting Josuke to get overwhelmed and start crying. Especially since one girl already tried to mess with the child's hair and his silly pompadour started falling apart. It took a while to lose them and the ice cream they bought was probably already melted. He spotted a familiar mop of hair once they turned a corner. Just his luck.
“Nori.” Shouted Josuke and somehow managed to wiggle himself free from Jotaro’s grip. The smaller teen turned around and smiled at the oncoming child. He bent down and hoisted Josuke in his arms, balancing him on his hip. Noriaki looked at him.
“You both look like crap.” He commented. “What happened to you?”
Jotaro grimaced.
“I ran into my admires again.” Kakyoin laughed and Jotaro felt his chest becoming lighter.
“You never seem to catch a break, do you?” Noriaki grinned then turned to Josuke, who was still in his arms. “Your nephew attracts trouble, doesn’t he?”
“That little shit is what’s getting me in trouble.” Kakyoin fake gasped.
“How could you accuse sweet Josuke of such vile intent.” He teased and booped Josuke's nose with his finger. The kid laughed at the gesture. “The poor boy simply got caught in the crossfire.”
They made their way towards the Kujo residence. Kakyoin tried to put down Josuke but the boy's grasp was firm so he ended up caring for him all the way. Little shit.
When they made it to their destination both teens were sweaty from the heat and humidity. Kakyoin’s noodle was slightly damp and it stuck to the side of his face.
When Kakyoin finally put his uncle down the kid all but dragged Kakyoin into the house.
“Good grief at least take your shoes off.” Jotaro shouted after them while dutifully removing his. His mother cleaned this morning and he wasn’t about to ruin her hard work
He put the groceries in the kitchen before he went looking for the other two, but not before grabbing something cold to drink for the three of them.
He found them both in the living room. Josuke was standing up. Hands on his hip and looking very serious. Well as serious as a six year old could look anyway. Jotaro handed Kakyoin one of the sodas and plopped down next to him.
“Kakyoin. I need to tell you something important.” His friend looked up at Josuke.
“I’m all ears.” Kakyoin smiled.
“I decided to marry you.”
Kakyoin's eyes widened comicaly. His face became very red and Jotaro decided that this horrible marriage proposal was worth the trouble just for the chance of seeing Kakyoin this flustered.
“Josuke… I…” It was very unusual to see Kakyoins at loss for words. The redhead was looking franctly between Jotaro and Josuke. The blush became even brighter. “Um Josuke. Aren’t I a little bit too old for you?” He tried to reason his wait out.
“Don’t worry. I’m gonna grow bigger. I’ll be as big as Jotaro and then I will be the one to carry you around everywhere.”
Kakyoin put his face in his hands and groaned loudly. The blush was already visible on his ears.
“I’m sure you’ll make a wonderful house-spouse for Josuke.” Jotaro couldn’t help but tease. Kakyoin groaned again.
“You’re not helping Kujo.” Jotaro grinned, not that Kakyoin could see.
“Josuke. Marriage is a very big deal. You shouldn’t be thinking about that now.”
“But I like you.”
“We’re too young to marry.”
“You can be my boyfriend for now.” Reasoned Josuke.
“Josuke. You’re a great kid. I really like hanging out with you. But I really can’t start dating you.”
“But I’d be a great boyfriend.” Josuke said quietly. All confidence gone. “Because I like you very much.”
“I’m sorry Josuke but I like someone else.” Jotaro felt his heart drop and break into million pieces. “Josuke. I’m really sorry.” Jotaro stared blankly as Josuke's eyes filled with tears and he ran outside.
“Josuke, wait.” Kakyoin ran after him.
***
[Kak]
He sat down next to Josuke who was silently sniffing. He put his arm around the kids shoulder and pressed him to his side. The boy hugged him. He felt really shitty about the kid getting a crush on him. What does one do in a situation like that anyway? They sat like that for a while.
“I’m really sorry Josuke.”
“My mum said you were too old for me too.” Kakyoin snorted.
“I guess attraction to men twice your age runs in the family.” Josuke looked funny at him. “Sorry that was inappropriate.”
“Why?”
“It’s rude to judge who people fall in love with.”
“Oh. Ok.”
“Nori.”
“Hmmm?”
“Do you like someone cool?”
“Yeah. They’re very cool. But also very stupid sometimes. But in a good way I suppose.”
“How can there be a good kind of stupid?”
“They’re smart but they don’t know how to show it, I suppose. They just make bad decisions sometimes. But they have a good heart. And lately they really try to be a good person.”
“Nori.”
“Hmm?”
“If I grow up and I’m cooler. Will you fall in love with me too?”
“You know what. I’m not making any promises. You can try seducing me in a decade.”
Josuke beamed at him.
“I will. I will grow very big. I'm going to be taller than Jotaro and then you won’t think I’m a kid.” Josuke hugged him tighter. “And then you’ll fall in love with me.” God the kid was persistent. “Then we get married and invite everyone.”
“Will we now?” Kakyoin teased, but it flew right over Josuke’s head.
“Yes.” He stared at Kakyoin for a while. “You’ll probably be smaller than me when I grow up so you can wear the dress.”
Kakyoin groaned. How did he get himself into situations like these.
***
They came back after a few minutes. Josuke was holding Kakyoin's hand and grinning.
“Kakyoin said he’s going to fall in love with me when I’m bigger.”
“That’s not what I… ah nevermind.”
Kakyoin has been tasked with fixing Josuke’s hair and Jotaro had to admit it looked far better then it did last time the redhead had done it. They watched a movie after that, the tension between Josuke and Kakyoin seemingly disappeared. When the redhead decided to head home it was already dark outside. Jotaro offered to accompany him to the door, he saw Josuke getting up as well but he glared at his uncle and the little brat relented. Thank God.
Once they were outside he cornered Kakyoin, blocking the redheads path with his arm.
“Why didn’t you tell me you had a crush on someone?” Kakyoin cheeks became pink and he very pointedly looked away.
“Because it would be embarrassing to tell you.”
“Yeah that’s what friends are for. To tell each other embarrassing shit.” He tried to lean down to look the other in the face but Kakyoin refused to meet his eyes.
“Will you tell me who you have a crush on?” He was looming over his friend. It was a shitty thing to do. But he really wanted to know.
“No.” Kakyoin’s back hit the wall as he tried to put space between them.
“Kakyoin.” It came out almost like a warning.
“I’ll tell you. I promise. Just… just not now, ok.” The redhead curled up on himself. He looked so small next to Jotaro. He felt like shit for cornering his friend like that. Fuck, why did he do that. He stepped back.
“I’m sorry.” He said softly.” I shouldn’t force you to tell me. It’s just. We’re … friends.” It hurt to say that. “I mean you obviously don’t have any obligations to tell me.” Jotaro tried to reassure his friend.”It’s just that I’d like to be prepared.”
“Prepared for what exactly?”
For all the things the recipient of Kakyoin’s love will get, that Jotaro didn’t dare dream of.
The love confession they will hear. The hand holding. The little stolen kisses. His lovely smile directed just at them. For Kakyoin being madly in love with some stranger. For all the love that will be meant for them, not Jotaro. The endless hours Jotaro will see them together. For all the hurt he will feel because he would never confess his love. Because he’d do anything to make Kakyoin happy, even if it means losing him to some stranger.
“Tell me before you confess. I’d rather not walk in on you snogging someone.” That was an easy lie. It holds some truth to it. He could keep away from them when they would be together. Kakyoin laughed at that.
“Ok. I will.” Kakyoin smiled at him so warmly and it made Jotaro ache at the mere thought that the smiles could belong to someone else. The redhead put his hand on Jotaro’s shoulder. Jotaro leaned into the familiar weight. “I’ll promise you that you’ll be the first to know.”
They stayed silent for a while and Jotaro wanted to kiss him then and there. But he couldn’t. Kakyoin’s heart belonged to someone else and he didn’t want to end their friendship because of his stupid crush. Kakyoin retreated his hand and his shoulder felt cold without it. He stepped away from Jotaro and waved at him, then wordressly made his way down the street. Jotaro watched as his friend disappeared into the darkness.
***
Kakyoin was hanging out at his place again the next time Josuke visited. He made a point of helping Josuke style his hair every time the little brat was here and Jotaro had to admit the two got pretty good at it. He looked as Kakyoin's slender fingers ran through his uncle's hair and he felt jealous once again. Stupid brat with his stupid hair.
Jotaro was thankful that the whole crush issue hasn’t resurfaced again. Not that Josuke stopped making heart eyes at his best friend. At least Kakyoin seemed oblivious to it. God he felt like a third wheel with these two half of the time.
He hadn’t noticed when Kakyoin finished and sat next to him peeking over his shoulder.
“You’re still on that chapter? Have you been slacking off while we played hairdresser? ” Kakyoin teased.
“Yeah.” He added sheepishly.
Kakyoin sat right next to him, his side pressed against Jotaro’s.
“Do you want to go over it together? I revised it yesterday.”
“Sure.” As long as we stay like that.
“Ok so…” Kakyoin started explaining but Jotaro wasn’t really listening.
***
Jotaro was walking down the street hand in hand with Josuke when a girl approached him. Good grief these girls managed to find him everywhere.
“Um. Hi You’re friends with Kakyoin, right?” Jotaro raised an eyebrow. That was unexpected.
“Yeah.”
“Oh um. I was wondering… “ She was playing with the hem of her t-shirt. Then swallowed and stood a little bit straighter. She was actually quite tall for a girl. Maybe even taller than Kakyoin. “I have a crush on Kakyoin.” She confessed. “We are both in the student council, but I rarely see him anymore. It’s just that our schedules don’t align that well. The last time we talked he told me that he’s going over to you to study. I was wondering if I could join you.”
“No.” Both Jotaro and the girl looked surprised at Josuke who was glaring at the girl. “I’m going to marry Nori when I’m bigger so you can’t have him.”
Jotaro snorted. At least Josuke’s little crush was good for something. He ruffled the small boy's hair but regretted it immediately when his fingers became sticky from all the hair products..
“I think Noriaki’s little boyfriend doesn’t like that idea.” Jotaro commented. He tried to go around her but she stepped to the side, blocking his patch. He glared at her but she stood his ground.
“No offence to the kid but I’d rather ask Kakyoin for his opinion.” She said. “You’re friends with him, shouldn’t you try to help him land a date.” As much as it pained him she was right. Kakyoin did have a crush on someone. Maybe it was this girl. From what he knew his friend spent a lot of time at the studing council so it would be weird that he never managed to be there at the same time as the girl.
He did mention that he felt awkward about his crush. He was probably too embarrassed to talk with her since he developed his crush. He stared at the girl. At least he’ll know if this is Kakyoin’s crush.
“Fine.” He said. “You can come over once but don’t you dare tell anyone. I don’t need anyone else feeling the need to invite themselves over.” The girl beamed at him and took out a neatly folded piece of paper from her jacket pocket.
“You can let me know when you plan to study if you don’t want people to see you talking to me in public.” This girl really planned everything, didn’t she? “And I won’t mind if you share the number with Kakyoin as well.” She winked at him and walked away.
“I don’t like her.” Stated Josuke once she was gone.
“Me neither kid.” He stared down at the note. Something felt really off about her, but he couldn’t put his finger on it.
Chapter 3: Boys in love
Chapter Text
Gushiken Aoi, as the girl was apparently called, was currently sitting in Jotaro’s living room, reading quietly. Josuke was drawing something nearby, occasionally staring daggers at the girl. Kakyoin was running late.
Someone ringed and Jotaro stood up to answer the door. Gushiken started standing up as well.
“Wait here.” Jotaro growled and she thankfully listened. He opened the door to be greeted by a wild mop of red hair with a very displeased looking Kakyoin underneath.
“I ran out of hair spray.”
“I can see that.” Jotaro smirked. His hair looked even fluffier than usual. “Did you break your comb too?” Kakyoin grimaced at that.
“Well at least no one saw me like that.” Kakyoin said, his lip tugging upwards. “I would die of shame if someone from our school would see my hair in this state.”
“I actually invited someone over today.” Jotaro admitted sheepishly. Kakyoin’s eyes almost bulged out of their sockets.
“You what? Why didn’t you warn me?” Kakyoin put his hands over his disheveled hair, looking inside to check if anyone was standing beside me.
“Yare yare.” Jotaro muttered and took off his cap, placing it on top of Kakyoin's head. The redhead gave him a questioning look. “Now you look cool.”
The redhead snorted, but then smiled warmly. He reached over and ruffled Jotaro's hair with both hands, puffing it up.
“Now that your hat hair is fixed as well we can head in.” He grinned and slid under Jotaro’s arm and made his way inside, completely oblivious to Jotaro’s racing heart. He’s been wanting to ruffle the redhead’s hair for weeks and his friend did it so casually to him.
He followed the redhead who currently stood at the entrance of the living room.
“Aoi, hiiii.” Kakyoin greeted her awkwardly. “I didn’t know you and Jotaro were friends.”
“Oh no, he was just kind enough to invite me to study when I told him I don’t have anyone to study with.”
“Really?” Kakyoin shot Jotaro, a face that the taller man wasn’t sure how to interpret. “How peculiar.”
Kayoin sat himself on his least favourable side of the small table, on the direct opposite of Gushiken. Which was weird as the redhead would usually fight over his favourite spot. He sat himself right next to Kakyoin. The girl gave him an unimpressed look. Jotaro just shrugged at her, trying to fight a forming grin.
Josuke abandoned his drawing in order to sit next to Kakyoin as well, effectively ruining any chance for the girl to sit right next to the redhead.
The tension in the room seemed to grow. As the two Joestars had a staredown with Gushiken. Kakyoin seemed blissfully unaware who was searching in his backpack and steadily taking out a ridiculous amount of school supplies.
“Should we..., um... study?” Kakyoin asked after he noticed that neither of his schoolmates were busy with learning.
“Sure.” Jotaro opened his book as well, not breaking eye contact with the girl. He already regretted letting her come. They studied in silence for a while before Holly peeked in.
“Do you want some cookies and lemonade?”
“Good grief woman, you don’t need to babysit us. We can get up when we’re hungry.”
“Don’t mind him Miss Holly.” Kakyoin said. And tried to get up.
“Oh don’t interrupt your studying.” Holly smiled at the redhead “Josuke, would you be a darling and give me a hand?”
Josuke begrudgingly left the redheads side.
“Stop trying to get my mom to adopt you. You already got your share of mothers.”
“One can never have enough mothers Jotaro.” Jotaro snorted.
Gushiken cleared her throat.
“Shouldn’t we get back to studying?”Kakyoin looked at her as if just now remembering she was there.
“Right, sorry. I guess we aren’t the best study group. We get distracted a lot.” Kakyoin laughed.
“Nonsense.” She said. “It’s a pleasure to spend time studying with you.”
Kakyoin laughed awkwardly.
“ Riiight. Thanks.”
The girl resumed her reading for about a minute before she stood up and made her way around the table.
“Nori, you’re smart, would you explain this to me?” She asked while sitting herself down right next to the redhead, where Josuke sat a moment ago and leaned into Kakyoin’s space. The redhead's shoulders seemed to tense up, but his voice remained polite.
“Sure.” He scooted slightly in Jotaro’s direction. The redhead started explaining the problem and Jotaro tried to focus on his own reading. Not before long Jotaro felt Kakyoin's knees press against his own. He notices they moved at least 30cm in his direction.
If they continue then Kakyoin would be forced to sit in Jotaro’s lap. Jotaro heart did a little flip at the thought. He certainly wouldn’t mind.
The redhead was saved by the return of Josuke.
“Hey” Josuke didn’t sound impressed when he spotted that his seat was taken. He marched over the lemonade swaying dangerously. “I sat here.”
“Then sit somewhere else.” The girl responded. “We need to study.”
“Nuh-uh.” Stated Josuke and tried to squeeze himself between the girl and the redhead, forgetting about the tray he was holding. He ended up spilling the lemonades all over Kakyoin in the process.
“Oh no.” Josuke looked very apologetic and immediately grabbed some napkins for the table offering them to Kakyoin.
“Don’t worry, accidents happen.” Assured him Kakyoin, taking them. “Jotaro will lend me one of his old shirts, right Jojo? ”He smiled and grabbed Jotaro’s arm, dragging the surprised man in one swift motion to his feet. “We’ll be right back and help you clean up, alright?”
Kakyoin gave Josuke one last reassuring smile before dragging them both to Jotaros room. The redhead closed the door with more force than strictly necessary. He let out a big sign and let his back slide down against it. He looked up at Jotaro, all of cheerful demeanor gone.
“How long can we hide up here?” Jotaro snorted and sat next to his friend, shoulders touching.
“I take it you don’t like her.” Kakyoin scoffed.
“I was trying to avoid her for the past few weeks. She just rubs me the wrong way I guess. I don’t really know what her deal is, but she can be overbearing at times. And way too clingy.”
Kakyoin was more oblivious than Jotaro thought, which thankfully ment that the redhead still hadn’t figured out that Jotaro had a crush on him.
“I won’t invite her over again.” Kakyoin looked up.
“Oh. I don't mean it like that. I don't have to be your only friend. You’re welcome to invite other people over as well, you know.”
“She invited herself.”
“Really? The big strong Jotaro getting bullied by a teenage girl?”
“You should have seen how persistent she was.” Kakyoin snorted. “I think she was ready to throw hands with me.”
“Oh I believe you.” They stared at each other for a while before bursting into a small fit of laughter. Jotaro’s chest became lighter. He smiled at his amused friend.
“Let’s get you changed before she comes looking for us and drags us back by the ear.” Jotaro said as he stood up. Kakyoin nodded and stood up as well. While Jotaro searched for spare clothing Kakyoin quickly retrieved a spare hair spray and comb that he kept in Jotaro’s bathroom and quickly fixed his hairstyle.
“I still need to uphold my reputation after all.” He claimed. Kakyoin placed the hat back on Jotaro’s head.
The taller man presented the redhead with a shirt and a sweater, along with some trousers. Jotaro thought himself a mature man but he couldn’t resist giving Kakyoin his baggiest clothing, which was slightly too big even on Jotaro, a sweater custom made by granny Suzie. The sweater swallowed his smaller friend. It was far too big for his shoulders and he needed to roll up the sleeves a couple of times. The hem came to about half this thighs.
“You’re just trying to flex how abnormally tall you are, aren’t you?” Kakyoin smirked him up. “Come on there is no way this is well fitted, even for you.”
“It’s from granny Suzie. She said I’ll grow into it.”
“Let’s hope not.” Kakyoin laughed. I already get neck pain from talking to you.
“I gave you the biggest thing so you can hide inside when Gushiken tries to bully you.
Kakyoin laughed.
“I’ll bet she’ll never find me in here.” He said as he pulled the sweater upwards and hid half of his face in it. Jotaro tried not to think how adorable the redhead looked.
“Let’s go.” Jotaro said pulling down his cap.
They made their way downstairs and Gushiken gave Jotaro a dirty look. Suck it bitch, he thought to himself, we’re the ones sharing clothes.
“You look cute.” Josuke said. Great. His uncle was apparently still trying to flirt with Noriaki. Kakyoin fake gasped.
“I am not cute. I am fearsome and I will swallow you with my sweater.” He lifted the hem of the oversized garment and started chasing a giggling Josuke around the living room. It didn’t take long before the redhead caught up to him and covered the child with the sweater. Josuke’s head popped out next to Kakyoin’s. Kakyoin hoisted him up, while they were both in the sweater and grinned at Jotaro.
“Fear the monster you created Jojo.” He grinned. Josuke jumped onto the joke and started growling at Jotaro, pretending to be a monster.
“I’m absolutely terrified.”Jotaro said in the flattest voice possible but he still felt his lips tug upward. Kakyoin looked at Gushiken, his cheeks reddening.
“Oh I’m so sorry I forgot you were here.” He looked at his feet. “Good grief this is embarrassing.”
“I don’t mind.” She smiled at Kakyoin. “You’re good with kids, Noriaki. It’s really cute.” Kakyoin’s face just reddened more. “But I think we should go back to studying.”
“Riiight.”
They resumed their work awkwardly. Josuke refused to leave the inside of Kakyoin's sweater and redhead gave him his gameboy. It looked awkward as hell to be writing down notes like that but Kakyoin hadn’t complained once at the kid and simply accepted his fate.
They studied until the skies turned black.
“Kakyoin would you walk me home?” The girl asked and Kakyoin looked very uncomfortable. “It’s on the way to your house anyway.”
“Noriaki is staying the night.” Jotaro butted in on the conversation. “But we can both walk you home if you want.”
They both looked at him surprised.
“You just don’t want to walk alone right?”
“Yeah.” She responded with a deathglare.
The outside air was much warmer than Jotaro’s living room where the AC has been blasting the whole afternoon. Kakyoin shrugged off the huge sweater and Jotaro wordlessly stretched out his arm. Kakyoin dumped the garment at him with a warm smile.
Gushiken wrapped her arms around Kakyoin’s forearm. Jotaro could see how tensed his friend has become. Kakyoin was usually way more open with physical affection. He must really have something against this girl.
Gushiken clinged to Kakyoin's arm the whole time. As soon as she entered the house Kakyoin’s shoulder relaxed. He turned around and grinned at Jotaro.
Noriaki didn’t stop grinning at him the whole way back and Jotaro felt uneasy under his gaze.
“What?” he finally snapped.
“Nothing.” The redhead’s grin just widened.
“Good grief Kakyoin, what did you do?”
“Back to Kakyoin, are we?”
“What do you mean?” Jotaro’s eyebrows narrowed.
“You called me Noriaki earlier.” Jotaro stopped walking.
“What? No?” He tried denying it, Kakyoin just grinned.
“You know, you don’t have to be jealous of her.”
“I’m not jealous of her, Kakyoin.”
“You totally are.” Kakyoin jabbed him in the side. “Don’t worry, you’re my like, favourite person. You’re allowed to call me Noriaki if you want to.” Jotaro’s heart jumped a little at the offer.
“Really? You like me better then your crush.” He teased to hide his embarrassment. Kakyoin’s face reddened.
“That’s um.. That’s an unfair question.” Jotaro grinned at the answer.
“I’ll make sure to mention it in my best man speech that you’re marrying your second favourite person in the world.” Kakyoin tried to smack his head but Jotaro dodged in time.
“Your rating is drastically dropping Jojo.” Kakyoin warned him. “I’m taking back the Noriaki thing. It’s Kakyoin for you.” Kakyoin puffed up. Jotaro just grinned at the redhead.
***
“You sabotaged my plan.” Jotaro looked up from the comic he was reading while he waited for Kakyoin to come back. Gushiken was looming over his sitting form, arms crossed. Great. She just had to run into him on his day off from school and Josuke.
“I sabotaged nothing.” He resumed his reading. She snatched the comic book from him.
“I demand another study session.”
“No chance.” He tried to snatch the comic back, but she held it out of his reach and Jotaro didn’t feel like standing up.
“You owe me-”
“Listen. And listen well” Jotaro growled at her, finally standing up and making sure he towered over her. “I don’t owe you shit. And I’m not sure if you’re to stubborn or to stupid to relise Noriaki obviously doesnn’t like you.”
“And how would you know?”
“Because I, unlike you, am his friend. And he tells me shit.”
She laughed.
“You really think Noriaki is friends with you, because he likes you? You’re pathetic.”
“Ex-fucking-cuse me?” This caught Jotaro off guard.
“Nori is obviously too kind for his own good. He just feels sorry because you’re an absolute fuck up who can’t keep friends.” She said it in a matter of fact voice which just riled Jotaro up more, who clenched his fists. ”You’re just a charity case to him Jojo. And what are you doing to repay that? You’re trying to separate him from good people, and I make sure he’s going to see just how pathetic you really are.”She jabbed a finger at his chest” I’ll make sure Noriaki leaves you behind, alone.”
“Oh really?” They both turned to see Kakyoin standing behind her, arms crossed, looking absolutely pissed. All color drained from Gushiken’s face.“No please do continue, I’d love to hear one good reason why he shouldn’t be my friend.” The redhead looked pissed.
“Oh Nori hi, I- um… you see… It’s a misunderstanding.”
“Oh I’m sure it was one.” He snapped “I’m apparently too kind for my own good, so I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt” He stepped closer and the girl took a step back “but if I ever hear so much as a peep from Jotaro or anyone else, again may I remind you, about your bullying I’ll make sure to raise the issue at the student council and we’ll be kicking you out this time. I didn’t want to believe that the rumors that our vice president stepped low enough to bully because I respected you. But this. This is crossing a line Gushiken.”
“Noriaki you don’t understand.” The girl tried but Kakyoin just scoffed.
“You’re right. I fail to see any reasoning behind being mean to my friend or anyone else for that matter.”
“He’s a bad influence on you. I just wanted to protect you from him.”
“I think I can protect myself from bad influences and I’m about to start now. Goodbye Aoi.” Kakyoin turned on his heel and started walking around. “Let’s go Jotaro.” Jotaro shot her a smug look before catching up to his friend.
“Shit that was hot.” He thought to himself.
“What?”
“What?”
“What did you say?” He said that out loud? Oh shit.
“Shit what a thot?” Kakyoin snorted.
“What was that all about? You looked ready to sucker punch her.”
“She has…. issues.”
“I noticed.” Kakyoin snorted again. “We really need to do something about her. Some of the council members have already complained. She’s good at her job but I honestly can’t stand bullying.” Kakyoin looked up at him.“Hej Joot? ”He asked softly.”
“Hmmm?”
“You know what she said isn’t true, right? You’re a good person.” Jotaro smiled and pulled down his hat to hide it.
“Whatever.”
***
Kakyoin was running late again and Jotaro decided to go look for his friend. He was probably still in the student council headquarters and Jotaro planned to lure him out with the promise of his mom’s cherry pie.
Jotaro was about to head into the council room when he spotted Gushiken grabbing Kakyoin by his arm.
“Noriaki wait.”
“Don’t call me that.” She signed, but didn’t let go of him.
“I’m sorry. About yesterday.”
“I sure hope you are.”
“Would you just please listen to me.”
“Alright fine.” Kakyoin turned around and faced her. His arms crossed. “Do tell.”
“Nori-”
“Kakyoin.” She signed.
“I just wanted to protect you from Jotaro. He’s a pervert.”
“I don’t need protection from Jotaro and especially not from you. He isn’t a pervert, he’s my friend. A very good one at that and I would appreciate If you stopped making fun of him.”
“No you don’t understand. He has a crush on you.”
What?
“What?” Kakyoin asked, sounding as surprised as Jotaro felt.
“He has a crush on you Nori.” Was he that obvious? Or was this girl just trying to make stuff up.
“And as we all know having a crush on me is a very perverted thing.” Kakyoin stated unamused. “Gee thanks, way to bust someone’s self esteem Aoi.”
“He’s a guy , Kakyoin!”
“He’s my friend and he sure as hell doesn’t have a crush on me. Listen, I get that you have some kind of beef with him. But that’s between the two of you to solve. You shouldn’t get me involved by telling me this bullshit.”
“But he does. Nori please listen to me. It’s wrong, he might hurt you. What if he suddenly tries stuff?”
“Bullshit.” Kakyoin growled but Gushiken continued.
“Listen to me.” She pleaded. “You’re both guys, this is gross.” Jotaro could feel Kakyoin was fuming. Kakyoin's parents asked him not to announce a little detail about his homelife in fear for the teen getting backslash. It was something no one in school beside Jotaro knew. Kakyoin had two moms.
“Gross? Gross? You’re fucking gross. Getting into someone’s love life like that?” Kakyoin was steadily raising his voice. “What do you care who Jotaro is in love with? It’s not as if you’re trying to date him, unless all the bullying is some form of sick flirting.” Kakyoin was shouting at this point.” I don’t need your protection from him because of a crush you claim he has on me. I wouldn’t stop being his friend even if he stormed through that door right now proclaiming his love for me.
It’s not wrong,
it’s not gross
and it sure as hell isn’t perverted
to love someone.
Now get your judgmental ass away from me.”
“Nori-” She grabbed his forearm again.
“Stop. Calling. Me.That.” He seethed and stormed off, freeing himself from the girls grasp. Jotaro didn’t have enough time to hide and Kakyoin ran right into him, bounced off and fell to the floor. He looked up wide eyed. The girl turned the corner as well. The size of her eyes was rivaling Kakyoins.
“Um. Hi.” Jotaro said awkwardly. “I think I intruded on something. Should I...”
“No. We’re quite done with our conversation.” Noriaki spat out while getting back on his feet. “Let’s go Jojo.”
***
Jotaro grinned when Kakyoin told him that Gushiken was kicked out from the student council. Apparently Kakyoin has brought it upon himself to gather multiple students she has bullied and raised the issue with the teachers.
After she has been stripped of her position of vice president she tried to start rumors about Jotaro having a crush on Kakyoin.
It backfired spectacularly. Everyone assumed that the girl had a crush on Jotaro, out of all people, and tried to get back at him for rejecting his feelings.
Jotaro did nothing to stop the rumors.
“You know these rumors are actually hilarious.” Kakyoin said. “To think someone would start harassing people because of a crush.”
“You are aware that she had a crush on you.” Kakyoin's head snapped around.
“Say what?”
“That’s the whole reason she invited herself over.”
“What?”
“You seriously didn’t notice?” Was his friend really that dense? ”Most of her bullying victims were girls. The girls I recall flirting with you.”
“ What? You’re shitting me right?” Kakyoin stared at him in disbelief. Jotaro smirked. “Jotaro, you’re kidding, right?”
“Would I joke about something like that?” Kakyoin kept staring at him in disbelief.
“No way. This is some kind of joke.”
“Is it that hard to believe that some girl had a crush on you?”
“Yes.” Kakyoin said, exasperated. “Besides all of the girls are swarming to you. I don’t think they even notice I’m around.”
“You’re kinda popular too.”
Kakyoin looked like Jotaro had bestowed some grand knowledge upon him.
“You’re saying she went primarily after people that had crushes on me?”
“Most likely.”
“This is so bizarre.” Kakyoin started holding his head as if to prevent it from bursting open. He raised his gaze slowly, as if just now realizing the implications.
”Wait a second. Does that mean she thought you had a crush on me for real?” Jotaro walked away. “Come back here this instant and answer the question you coward.” Kakyoin chased after him. Thankfully Jotaro had longer legs.
***
Jotaro was watching Josuke again and Kakyoin was tagging along. Josuke's mom was supposed to pick him up from the train station but something came up and she was halted. Kakyoin offered to drop Josuke in Morioh.
“We could go to the beach. Maybe we’ll see some cute fish.” He battled his eyelashes at Jotaro.
And Jotaro relented.
They stayed longer than they planned, the sun was almost setting, but both boys were knee deep in the water. Their shoes neatly placed next to each other on the shore.
Kakyoin looked very fidgety.
“I think I need to tell you.”
“Tell me what?” Jotaro asked, not taking his eyes from the fish that was swimming around his legs.
“I promised I’ll tell you first. And I think this is as brave as I’m going to get.”
Jotaro looked up and focused his gaze on Kakyoin. He immediately regretted the decision. The setting sun was caught in his friends disheveled hair, creating a golden halo around him. The white scarf his friend sometimes wore was draped around him and swayed delicately in the summer breeze. He looked like a painting. Jotaro's voice was caught in his throat so he just nodded.
“Well about that crush...” Jotaro felt a pain rising from his chest to his neck as Kakyoin looked at him, then to the side and took a painfully long breath. “I have a crush on you Jotaro.”
Silence.
Kakyoin risked looking at his taller friend again but Jotaro kept staring at him.
“I know it’s weird, I mean we’re friends, right? I totally get it if you want to stay just that, we don’t have to start dating.” Kakyoin assured him, splashing water idli with his leg ”But i’ve been thinking with this whole Aoi business and-”
He was caught off as Jotaro lunged at him knocking the smaller teen over end sending both of them into the shallow water.
“Jojo.” Kakyoin looked at him wide eyed, but his expression softened once he noticed Jotaro was grinning.
“I’m glad.” Jotaro said. Kakyoin punched him, with no real force behind it.
“You ass. That’s all you’re going to say?” The redhead laughed.
“Fine.” Jotaro rolled his eyes and smiled at him. ”I like you too.” He felt his ears getting hotter, but the smile Kakyoin shot him was worth his embarrassment.
“ like. ” Kakyoin teased.
“Don’t push your luck. I can easily drown you.” Kakyoin grinned.
They needed to take the train back home while completely drenched and all the passengers were shooting dirty looks at them. Jotaro lost his hat to the ocean but he didn’t care. He was holding Kakyoin's hand the whole time and grinning more than he did for the entirety of the past year.
This time it was Kakyoin's turn to walk Jotaro home, his slender fingers never leaving Jotaro’s hand. Once they made it Kakyoin looked up at him. Face red.
“Could you lean down for a moment?” Jotaro did and Kakyoin gave him a haste kiss on the cheek. And looked away quickly.
“You are aware that you can kiss me on the mouth too, right?” Kakyoin’s face became even redder. He kissed him quickly again and Jotaro grinned.
“Don’t look so smug about it.”
“I’m not smug about it.” Jotaro’s smile widened. “It’s just that I rarely see you so flustered. You look like a cherry. It’s very cute.”
Kakyoin hid his face in his free hand.
“Please stop.”
“Thinking you’re cute? Never.” Kakyoin punched him lightly.
“You’re a real sap, you know that.” Jotaro just smiled at him.
”Only for you.” He said softly. He wasn’t sure if Kakyoin heard it but the redhead smiled back and slowly let go of his hand. He was walking down the street turning around every few steps to wave at Jotaro. Jotaro waved back each time. The taller man still lingered even after Kakyoin was long gone. He tried to hide his smile as he entered the house. Little did he know it was futile because as soon as he opened the door his mom trapped him in a hug.
“Oh I saw the whole thing. It was so sweet. Just like me and your father when we were young. I’m so happy for you.”
“Mom.”
“Are you two dating now? When are we inviting his moms’ for dinner?”
“ Mom.”
“I’m going to make red rice tonight. This is great.” And with that she let go of him, practically skipping away. Jotaro wanted the earth to swallow him whole. But not even his mom’s antics could ruin this for him. He was still grinning through the whole dinner despite his mom bugging him for details.
Jotaro was still happy even when he caught a cold from their little trip. Noriaki visited him, laughing at his poor immune system. Jotaro wanted to kiss the redhead again but that little shit made him wait till he got better.
“Not fair.” He protested. But the redhead just stuck out his tongue at him.
“I don’t care Jojo. You’re not getting me sick. Someone needs to bring you homework.”
“Fuck homework. I want a kiss from my boyfriend.” Jotaro pouted. Kakyoin just stuck out his tongue, but then grinned back. Fuck. Jotaro never was so happy.
But the absolute best thing was that Jotaro knew that Kakyoin loved him. Not that bitch Gushiken, not that brat Josuke, but him. Jotaro smiled to himself.
(bonus)
10 years later:
It has been a few weeks since the Kira issue has been solved but to Jotaros surprise both him and Noriaki settled into the, once again, peaceful Morioh. The town seemed to grow on anyone who has been in it for too long. He smiled as he glanced from their shared kitchen at Noriaki, and Josuke’s gang. All of them were seated around the living room chatting away. They even managed to drag Rohan who was currently standing in the kitchen with him, stirring sugar into his tea.
“Hey Noriaki?” The redhead turned his head to look at Josuke. “Do you still remember that conversation we had ten years ago.”
Jotaro looked at them curiously. The redhead and Josuke still got along really well and to be honest it still made him jealous sometimes. He knew he had nothing to worry about, Noriaki and him have been together for ten years, but the uneasiness lingered.
“What do you mean?” Noriaki asked.
“Well Holly reminded me actually.” Josuke was grinning from ear to ear. “I didn’t know a word you used so I asked what it meant. And it has been a decade already.”
Realisation seemed to hit Noriaki as his face started to blend with his hair. “Oh God. I can’t believe Holly remembered that.” he laughed. “Wasn’t one of the conditions to be taller then Jotaro though.”
“Hey I’m still growing” laughed the teen. “And I’m already taller than you at only 16.”
Jotaro narrowed his eyes.
“Well prepare to be seduced.” Yukako closed the window blinds with one swift motion. Koichi started playing a love song and Okayasu appeared behind Noriaki and started throwing flower petals everywhere. Jotaro’s eyes bulged out of his sockets. He tried to grab his nephew but he found himself unable to move. He glanced around to see a smirking Rohan. Jotaro glared at him.
“I’m sorry Jotaro but I want to see how it plays out. I gave Josuke five minutes after that you’re welcome to strangle your uncle.” He was unable to do anything but stare with dread. Noriaki sat with his hands covering his mouth and Jotaro couldn’t read his expression due to the dim light.
“What do you say Noriaki, am I the cooler one after all? If you saw me like this ten years ago would i have been able to win your heart?”
Noriaki started laughing hysterically and the gang followed soon after. Even Rohan seemed to chuckle at the sight. Jotaro felt his joints loosen and he was able to move forward again. Koichi was the first to spot him and he must have had a very murderous glare as the small teen shrieked. The whole gang vacated his house in less than ten seconds. He turned to Noriaki who was trying to calm himself down on the sofa with his cheeks still flushed. Flower petals all over him. He looked up after a while to see a very displeased Jotaro. He smiled one of his brilliant smiles at him and Jotaro wanted to punch Josuke a little less.
“I’m going to murder my uncle.”
“Don’t. I hadn’t laughed this much in ages. Besides I was the one to tell him he could try wooing me when he’ll be older. I’m surprised he actually went through with this.” He reached up and pulled Jotaro down gently by his collar so that the man would sit next to him on the couch. Once Jotaro was seated Noriaki touched their foreheads and cupped Jotaro’s cheeks. “But don’t worry the answer to his question would be no.” He stroked Jotaro’s cheek. “My heart has a special place for only one Joestar.”
“Good.” Jotaro said, pulling Noriaki into a hug and nuzzling his face into his neck. “Because I’m not planning on sharing you with that brat ever again.” Noriaki laughed hugging him back.
“I love you too, you old sap.”
“I’m still going to beat him up.”
“Don’t you dare Jotaro!”
