Chapter 1: I dunno
Chapter Text
Stupid Parker luck. My day had been great. I showed up to class on time, passed the English pop quiz with flying colors, even Flash backed off a bit. I was having a marvelous day. Until Mr. Harrington’s class. It started out fine, most of the class half asleep, I was among them. One of the few problems with living with geniuses is the fact that school is more of a review at this point, I could probably do this in my sleep. At the words ‘Field trip’ however, my attention was drawn back to the front where Mr. Harrington was writing on the board. Field trip. I groaned. I like field trips, don’t get me wrong. They don’t necessarily like me though.
“Where do you think we’re going? I’m so excited.” Ned whispered loudly from beside me, practically shaking in his seat.
“Calm down Ned, it’s probably nowhere interesting.” I mumbled.
Ned turned to me with a grin. “Oh, come on, don’t be so pessimistic.”
I shrugged and looked up at Mr. Harrington. The man seemed thrilled, like he won the lottery. He was holding a stack of papers and began to walk around the room, passing out papers as he talked.
“You’ll need to sign these papers and get them back to me tomorrow, a day later and you’ll be unable to join us. I apologize for the short notice; however, they need to know in advance how many students will be attending. If you are unable to have your parent or guardians' signature by tomorrow, please contact me and I will assist you in any way possible. There are also some NDA’s that need to be signed by you and your guardian. If you don’t sign it you cannot go on this trip, and trust me you don’t want to miss it.”
I rolled my eyes. I live in Stark Tower; nothing can top that. As Mr. Harrington passed my desk, he handed me a paper and paused for a moment.
“Please see me after class, Mr. Parker.”
I nodded in response and looked down at the paper. FIELD TRIP TO SI was printed boldly on top of the paper. I groaned and nearly slammed my head on my desk. My Parental unit had some explaining to do. The enthusiastic chatter in the classroom made so much sense now.
Once Mr. Harrington passed, Ned immediately turned toward me, excitement plastered across his face.
“We get to go to the Stark Tower! This is so awesome man! Do you think we’ll see Mr. Stark, or Captain America, or-”
“Ned, calm down,” I whispered to my overexcited friend. “You’ve been there before and met literally all the Avengers.”
“I know but this is different. Imagine the look on Flash’s face when he sees you know the Avengers. He’s going to be so distraught. Do you think-”
“Aww, look. Fatso and Penis are talking about their internship that you keep lying about. I bet they’ll kick you out once they hear you’ve been telling lies. Do you think they’ll-”
“Hey Flash, no one cares.” MJ glared at him.
“Yeah, shut up. Don’t ruin this for us.” Cindy Moon called from her seat near the front of the class. Her little group of friends snickered as Flash’s face turned an ugly shade of purple.
“Let’s not fight, class.” Mr. Harrington finally stepped in, effectively stopping the conflict.
I looked at Cindy in surprise. No one ever stood up to Flash before. Well, except MJ of course. I smiled gratefully at her and she gave me a thumbs up.
I gave a small jolt of surprise when the bell rang and the small classroom immediately was filled with noise as people began to talk about the upcoming trip. Speaking of, I will be having a conversation with dad about this. Taking extra-long to pack up, I motioned for Ned to go ahead without me. He shot me a concerned look but continued on to the door without much of a fuss.
Flash on the other hand smirked and muttered under his breath as he passed me. “I bet the teacher’s going to expel you for lying about your internship. Tony Stark would never choose you.”
I knew I shouldn’t let what he said get to my head, but this wasn’t the first time the thought has passed my mind. Things such as, its only because I’m Spiderman. He only adopted me because he feels bad. I’m just a burden to him.
Shaking the thoughts out of my mind, I threw my backpack over my shoulder and trudged over to where Mr. Harrington was shuffling through papers at his desk.
I stood at the edge of his desk until he looked up and acknowledged me.
” Ah. Mr. Parker.”
“Have I done something wrong, sir.”
He winced and seemed to gather his thought before responding. “Erm, no, you’ve done nothing wrong. You see, I don’t really want to do this, but with the field trip coming up I have too. I understand that you’re going through a lot right now, with your Aunt and all, and I’m sorry, but I don’t believe you have an internship at Stark Industries.”
My heart sank, although I should’ve expected this. “Mr. Harrington I-”
He held up his hand, cutting me off. “Don’t get me wrong, you’re a smart kid, dare I say smarter than even myself. I don’t doubt you could intern there and hold your own, however, I, on multiple occasions called the building and asked if a Peter Parker interned there and they informed me there was not. So, I’m sorry but I’d suggest coming clean and admitting that don’t actually intern at SI.”
Now I had no idea what to say. Had he called the building asking for a Peter Stark he would've found one, but how can I tell him I’m actually Peter Stark now, without telling him that Tony Stark adopted me. If it we’re up to dad, the whole world would know I was a Stark, but I wasn’t ready. The press would have questions and people would want to be friends with me because of my father.
"I’m sorry Mr. Harrington sir, but I truly do have an internship. However, I promise that on the field trip I will not lie about anything.”
Mr. Harrington nodded. “Alright than, you may go.”
Nodding numbly, I turned and walked out of the classroom, heading towards the front of the building where Happy was waiting.
I know people talk behind my back trying to figure out why the poor, puny Parker was being picked up in a fancier car than the rich, popular, cool Flash. I ignored them though, and got into the car, greeting Happy as I did so.
“Hey kid, “he grunted as he began to drive away. “How was school?”
I brightened up and began to tell Happy all about my day. Except for Flash. I don’t tell anyone about him. I started talking about what I was working in with dad in the labs and before I knew it, we we’re there.
“Bye Happy.” I yelled at the divider and jumped out of the car. When did he put it up? Probably when I started talking about work. He always says it bores him, but that doesn’t stop me from telling him all about it. I heard the “Bye kid, “as I closed the door and I smiled to myself as I walked to the lobby.
“Hi Junior.” Alice, the receptionist greeted me as I walked in.
“Hi Alice, how’s Jenny? Did she get the classes she wanted?”
Alice perked up at the mention of her girlfriend. “She did get the classes, thanks for asking.”
I gave her a smile and walked in the crowd, through the security scanner, and into the Avengers elevator. I let out a sigh of relief as the doors closed, cutting out most of the chatter and people.
“Hello Peter, where too?” FRIDAY'S cool voice questioned.
I let out a small grin. “Take me to dad please.”
The second the words were out of my mouth, the elevator quickly and smoothly rode up to the common room floor, which surprised me and dad was usually in the lab when I got home. The door silently opened and I was greeted by Wanda.
“Hi Peter, how was school?”
“It was pretty good we-”
“HAHAHAHA TAKE THAT! YOU LOST! HAHAHA”
I was cut off by Uncle Clint who had beat Sam in Mario Cart and was gloating about it, dancing on the couch. What he didn’t notice was the game in the background, still going, and Sam crossing the finish line.
“Goal!” Sam yelled.
I sniggered as Clint slowly turned around in confusion. When he saw the game, his face dropped and he fell to his knees crying out. “NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!”
Now Sam was dancing on the couch in victory, dancing over Clint who was laying dejectedly on the floor in defeat. In one smooth moment, Clint jumped up and lunged at Sam. Sam yelped in surprise and ran away as the archer chased him out of the room. With a loud yell and a bang as they slammed a door it went silent, the only sound being the Mario Cart music playing softly in the background.
Me and Wanda looked at each other awkwardly for a moment before bursting out in laughter.
“Well than, that was quite a show.” Wanda said between giggles. ‘’My bets on Sam.”
“What! No, Clint for sure. He’s got the vents.” I playfully argued.
“Sam's faster.”
“Speed is nothing on being able to travel through the vents.”
“Fine, I’ll bet twenty dollars on Sam. Do we have a deal?”
“Deal.”
“Okay. Anyways, what’s new with you?”
I winced slightly. “I’ve got a field trip this Friday, need mom to sign something.”
Tony popped his head out of a door down the hall. “Do you really need mom to sign it? Why can’t I?” He pouted slightly and walked toward us. “Hey kiddo,” He gave me a hug and ruffled my hair. “So, what do you need me to sign?”
I melted into the hug that made me feel so protected, with my father's arms wrapped tightly around me, before I reluctantly pulled away. “I don’t need you to sign anything, imagine what my teacher would say.”
“He knows you’re my quote unquote, intern, so it shouldn’t be an issue. Come on Pete, I never get to sign any of this stuff that dad’s get to sign.”
I nearly gave in, but remembered what my teacher had said. “The school doesn’t think I have an internship.”
He looked at me in confusion. “They don’t? We turned in all the required paperwork. Hell, we even gave them a phone number to call.”
I shrugged in resignation; my eyes downcast. “It’s whatever, I’m fine with it.”
Tony stood up; eyes ablaze. “Aw hell no. This will not slide Peter. We turned in all the legal paperwork and even gave them a number to call, which they did not.”
“Are you sure dad? Mr. Harrington said that he called the building and-”
“Well, no wonder Pete. The building is under strict NDA’s and all the people here know you as Peter Stark. They did not call the number I gave them I can assure you of that.”
“Yeah but-”
“Ah, ah, ah, no but’s. Now come on, I need a pen. Don’t you worry, I’ll leave room for your mom to sign it as well.”
I sighed and was about to argue but once dad has put his mind to something there’s no changing it.
>Time Skip<
“Peter, if you don’t wake up soon, you’ll be late for school.” FRIDAY’S voice woke me along with the opening of the blinds to let the sun in. “Mr. Rogers would like me to inform you that he has kept the others away from your portion of breakfast, but if you take any longer, he’ll give it Clint.”
That got me up and out of bed faster than anything else could. Well except for Morgan of course. That child has so much energy, it’s literally impossible to stay asleep when she wants you awake. Anyways, I hurriedly got dressed, grabbed my backpack, and raced out the door into the kitchen. What greeted me was a truly domestic sight. Steve was in the kitchen making pancakes for the team while Bucky sat on the counter watching Steve with pure adoration in his eyes. Auntie Nat and Uncle Clint were sitting on the couch quietly drinking coffee while dad and Uncle Bruce were sitting at the table, leaning over some project, discussing something between themselves.
“’Morning Uncle Steve.” I grabbed a paper towel and loaded it up with the pancakes set aside for me.
“Good morning Peter, I made a lunch for you. Does this satisfy our deal?”
I gave him a smile. “Yes, it does, thank you.” I turned away and said bye to Bucky before turning to the table. “Bye dad.” I began to walk to the elevator when dad called out.
“Wait one second.”
I did, rather reluctantly though. I was going to be late enough as is. I knew it was worth being late though as dad gave me a hug.
“Bye kiddo. Have fun at school. If you have any problems with your teacher, just give me a call and I’ll be over in seconds.”
I smiled into his chest before saying. “You can't just go to my school, dad. The press would have a field day. Now I’ve got to go or I’ll be late.”
He let go of me and shot me his protective dad look. “I don’t care what the press says. If you need saving, I’ll be there no matter what. Now go on. Don’t keep Happy waiting.”
“Of course. Bye guys.” I yelled out to the room and a chorus of, “bye Peter”, “Have fun”, and “Kill someone for me while you’re out for me” responded. You can guess who said that one.
“Bye dad.” I said again as I walked into the elevator. “Love you.” The words slipped out before I could stop them. Nervously I looked up at my dad’s face as the doors started to close and saw a big smile on his face. The last thing I heard as the elevator closed was a heartfelt, “Love you too, Peter.”
>Time Skip<
“I don’t see why it's such a big deal.” MJ said during lunch. I had told Ned and MJ what had occurred earlier, and while MJ was chill and rolled with it as they usually do, Ned was understandably staring at me in amazement.
“Dude, you told the Tony Stark ‘I love you’ and he said it back. What is your life man.”
“I didn’t even mean to say it. I mean, I love him like the father I never had, but what if he doesn’t feel the same? What if I crossed a line? What if-”
“Peter, first of all calm down. He said it back, didn’t he? Honestly, it’s good for the both of you. You’ve never had a father figure and taking on a parental role is good for him. I don’t see why you’re making a big deal out of it.”
“I guess you're right, but-” I was interrupted by a certain someone talking loudly from behind me.
“Hey Penis, talking about your ‘internship’ again.” Flash sneered at me. “guess we’ll see on Friday, huh.”
“Buzz off Flash before I make you.” MJ glared at the demon spawn who had decided it was up to him to make my life a living hell.
Flash wisely walked away, but not before he called out, “You’re lucky your girlfriend here to protect you.”
MJ and I started to laugh, leaving a confused Flash scurrying off. It was never a good thing when MJ laughed. Although this time they were genuinely amused.
“The moment when your gay.” MJ whispered to Ned and I. Ned shrugged in a ‘I can’t relate way’, while I nodded in agreement.
Before I knew it the bell rang and we rushed to our next classes.
>Time Skip<
“Please place the slip on the edge of your desk and I will come around to collect them.” Mr. Harrington announced as the last of the students sat down.
As I pulled it out of the folder in my backpack, my mind raced with everything that could go wrong. I placed the slip face down at the edge of my desk, hoping Mr. Harrington wouldn’t look too closely.
I could practically imagine luck laughing at me as Mr. Harrington grabbed my slip and turned it over. A flurry of emotions passed his face as he looked at the signature. Confusion, shock, and finally . . . . . . disappointment.
“Please see me after class Mr. Parker.” He murmured, just loud enough for me to hear him.
I mentally thanked him for not drawing attention to me, while at the same time I was panicking. Luckily for me, mom, who was my registered guardian under Virginia Potts, signed the sheet as well. Mr. Stark had been upset that he wasn’t my guardian and he pouted until mom relented and let him be my emergency contact. The memory almost made me laugh and lightened the anxiety in my chest. That is, until class ended.
I sat in my seat, waiting for the second day in a row, for everyone to leave.
“You wanted to see me Mr. Harrington.” I said as I walked up to his desk.
He sighed and rifled through the stack of permission slips until he found mine and brought it to the top. “I don’t know why you thought it would be a good idea to forge the signature of Tony Stark but I don’t want to hear it. I will let it slide this time only because your guardian has signed the page as well and I don’t want you to miss the field trip. I merely want you to know that I don’t want this to happen again and if it does, a form of punishment will have to be put into place. Do you understand.”
“Yes sir.”
“Very well, you may go.”
At his words, I immediately trudged out the door and to my luck Flash was leaning against the wall.
“Well Penis, got in trouble for forging a signature I see. What, your parents couldn’t do it.” He paused for a moment as if he was thinking, something that was hard for him no doubt. “Oh yeah, you don’t have any. Bet that’s your fault too.” He shoved me into a locker harshly before stalking off.
My already bad day got worse. Maybe . . . maybe it was my fault. I could've stopped the car before it hit Aunt May. I was nearby and out patrolling. If only I had been closer, I could’ve done something. If only- No! I can't wallow in self-pity.
Opening my eyes, I stood up. When did I fall? I winced as I walked toward the door. Normally the stuff Flash does never hurt that much unless it's a lot. He’s weak and my healing always takes care of it before it hurts for too long. However, this time he slammed my already bruised rib into the locker. It had been broken two days ago, and had almost healed fully. I don’t think it's cracked or anything but it hurts a lot that’s for sure.
Limping slightly, I flopped into Happy’s car, greeting him quietly before leaning against the window. I could practically feel Happy’s worried gaze on me and I noticed that he never closed the divider. For some reason that made me happy and with that thought in my mind, I drifted off.
“We’re here kid, time to go.” I dragged myself out of the car and into the building. Wordlessly walking through the lobby, I passed through the security scanner and to my disappointment I heard FRIDAY announce. “Your rib seems to have been agitated. Activating Helicopter Parent Protocol. I recommend going to your room to rest.”
I groaned in embarrassment, hoping no one was paying attention to me. Mr. Stark had created the protocol after I had been shot multiple times and never told him. FRIDAY only announces large injuries and depending on how severe the injury, would tell me what to do and informed dad. If the injury was severe, she simply had the nearest person who knew my identity get me and take me to the medical wing.
“Thanks FRIDAY, I’ll go do that.” I said to the AI as I walked into the elevator and it shot upward sending me to the common room where no doubt dad was waiting.
As expected, dad was waiting at the elevator.
“Hey kiddo, FRIDAY told me your rib was worse than it was yesterday. What happened?”
“Someone accidentally pushed me into a locker, you know how busy school hallways are.”
He looked at me doubtfully before nodding. “Alright. Well as long as it was an accident. If I find out someone did it on purpose . . .” He trailed off.
“Alright dad, I get it. I’m fine. Plus, murdering children is illegal remember.”
He nodded. “Unfortunately.”
“Dad, promise you won't murder a child, even if I'm being bullied.”
He shrugged. “No promises kiddo, now go lay down.” He pulled me into a hug, careful of my rib. “I'll send someone when dinners done, Nat’s making dinner tonight. You don’t want to miss out.”
I immediately perked up. Auntie Nat’s food is to die for. Literally. If it came down to it, I’d fight Clint for the rest of the food. Auntie Nat knows this of course, and always makes enough food for a few armies yet we never have leftovers.
“Alright dad. Make sure you actually send someone this time.”
He groaned. “One time Pete, one time, and you never let me live it down.”
I smiled and scampered off to my room favoring my rib.
I love my family.
Chapter 2: What am I doing
Chapter Text
Before I knew it, Friday was upon us and that meant the field trip. I groaned and curled in on myself in my bed. My spider sense was going off, but I knew I wasn’t in danger. It was probably on anticipation for the field trip. Before I could fall asleep again, the door opened and a familiar voice chirped out,
“Hey FRIDAY lights please.”
“Of course, Morgan.” FRIDAY’S voice floated out from somewhere and immediately the lights turned on and I burrowed deeper into the covers.
I let out an oof as Morgan jumped onto my bed and on my chest.
“Come on Peter, wake up! Dad’s making French Toast.”
At first, I thought I heard something wrong. Dad only cooked when it was a holiday or something special was going on. Then it hit me. I completely forgot; I feel so bad. Snatching my phone off the side table, I sent a speedy text to Shuri.
Happy Birthday!!!!!!! 😀😄😉😎😋😏🤗
Getting out of bed, I let Morgan jump on my back and we walked to the kitchen. Seeing dad in the kitchen making French Toast like Morgan said, I gave him a hug from the side.
“’Morning dad.”
He chuckled and ruffled my hair, something he does a lot.
“Good morning kiddo. We have a few people coming over, so I’ve decided to get a head start on breakfast. You know how much they eat.”
I nodded in silent agreement before asking. “Who’s coming over?”
“Well, we’ve got Child Genius, Big Kitty, his scary guard lady, I think the space gays are, but that’s unrelated to the birthday today. Oh, don’t forget Point Break and Reindeer gaymes.”
I perked up. Yass. Loki, Shuri, MJ and I made a group we call the queer musketeers. Basically, all us queer teens get together and vibe. MJ joined us when she had come to the tower and met Shuri. She came out to me that day. Long story short the queer musketeers was created and we live to torment the others constantly. And if you’re confused as to why Loki’s part of the group, well in Asgard years he’s a teenager. I know, crazy right. And to think he never heard of vines until he met us.
“Nice pants.” A certain black haired god snickered from behind me. The pants in question were my pink Hello Kitty pajama pants.
“You can’t say anything with your panmphlg.”
I was cut off by Loki’s hand over my mouth.
“Not a word.” He glanced cautiously at Tony.
His hand was still over my mouth, so I did a smart thing. I licked it.
“Ewww.” Loki yelled as I doubled over in laughter.
“You-the look on your face-” I could barely get a word out due to how much I was laughing.
He glared at me and I, wisely, dropped Morgan and ran.
“Hi мама паук.” (mama spider) I called out to Auntie Nat as I ran past her in the hallway.
“Peter, I recommend you get prepared for your field trip.” FRIDAY announced and I slowed to a stop.
“Alright pause.” I said to Loki before he could do anything to get back at me. “I have a field trip I need to get ready for.”
Loki pouted slightly before wiping his hand on me.
“Hey!” I exclaimed.
“You deserved it.” He taunted.
I shrugged. “Yeah, I guess I did.”
After giving Loki a short hug, I ran to my room to prepare for the dreaded trip.
>Time Skip<
“Bye gays!” I yelled as I ran into the elevator and the door started to close.
“Bye Peter!” Morgan shouted from her position in the counter.
I got few halfhearted shouts of protest from the few straights, along with laughter from the fellow gays. The elevator door shut and it began to slide to the first floor. The lower the elevator got, the higher my anxiety rose.
“Hey Happy.” I sighed as I got into the mini-limo waiting in the front. “What’s with the car?”
“Hope’s got a meeting thing and requested I take the mini-limo. Just be glad she didn’t ask for the full limo.”
“Where is she?”
“She’s on her way right now, no worries.”
I wasn’t too concerned because I was already close to thirty minutes early, but the longer I took to get there the more people were going to see the car.
Right as the thought crossed my mind, Hope strolled out of the building and gracefully slid into the vehicle.
“Hey Peter, you ready for today?”
I ignore the worry clawing my gut and smiled. “Yeah.”
She patted my shoulder. “I wouldn’t worry too much Peter, Pepper talked to them.”
By them she meant the Avengers. That reassured me a bit, but it did nothing to fully ease my worries.
>Time Skip<
“Bye Peter, have fun! “Hope called out, oblivious to my pain as I stepped out of the mini-limo.
“Bye Mrs. Hope.” I called back to her and walked toward the few people who were already there. Luckily for me Flash didn’t seem to be there yet.
All of the sudden a faint gunshot rang out, followed by a scream. A quick glance at the others showed they heard nothing and I'm sure they wouldn’t notice if I were gone for ten minutes.
With that thought in my mind, I turned and ran toward where I heard the sound, not noticing the pair of eyes that followed me as I ran off. I stopped in an alley by the scene and pressed my bracelet that activates the nanobots of my suit. Once I arrived at the scene, I did a quick once over of what was going on.
The jewelry shop has eight people in it. Two of the employees were held at gunpoint and a woman was laying on the ground, a small puddle of blood collecting around her. Her back was moving up and down, rather irregularly, but she seemed alive. Two of the robbers held their guns toward the stores employees while the other three were grabbing jewelry and cramming it into their bags.
Swinging in, I webbed up the guns of the two men holding the employee's hostage, and kicked the two men over before they even knew what was going on. The other three robbers were quick to pull their guns out on me.
Slowly, I stood up, holding my hands up in mock surrender. “Now come on guys, let's not be hasty.” Muttering to the employees I told them, “Try to slide around the room to the door, I’ll keep their eyes on me. If shooting starts duck behind the counter.”
They gave very slight nods and I turned my attention back to the robbers. One of them kept his gun on me while the other two went back to grabbing the precious jewels. Bad move. They must be new at this. I webbed the gun out of the man’s hand and pulled him and the gun to me. Knocking him out with a swift uppercut. I ducked as bullets flew towards me from the other men. I casually ran up the wall, dodging bullets and making sure they were focused on me and not the employees who were almost out the door. Once they were a good distance out the door and out of sight, I turned stealth mode on.
My suit rippled and began to reflect the colors around me. The man gave small, almost unnoticeable gasps of surprise, before shooting blindly where they last saw me. I smirked from my position behind them and gave them a good chop on the back of their necks, effectively knocking them out.
The second I had turned stealth on I had swiftly made my way behind them to clean this up fast, I did after all have a field trip to get to. I ignored my spider sense, which was still tingling and webbed up the two robbers. I almost didn’t notice a shadow hiding in the shadow ahead of me. Before I could do anything about it, he threw a knife straight for my chest. He had good aim too, I must've turned stealth off without realizing it. I attempted to get out of the way, but wasn’t fast enough and the knife buried itself into the skin just below my clavicle.
Letting out a grunt of pain, I shot a stun web at the man and he fell to the ground.
After being sure the others were all webbed up, I swung up to the top of a nearby roof and looked at the wound. It was bleeding a lot and will probably get infected if I don’t get it treated soon. I glanced at my watch. 8:50. Shit. I used a web to momentarily stop the bleeding but I know from experience it won't last long. It’d have to work for now.
I swung a block away from the school, ignoring the pain from my chest, and took my suit of. Throwing my hoodie on, I ran to the bus where nearly everyone was waiting.
“Well Peter, nice of you to join us. Cutting it a bit close this time, eh.” Mr. Harrington said as I got close.
“Sorry sir.” I panted, ignoring the fact that my arm was beginning to lose feeling and I could feel blood soak my hoodie.
“Alright everybody, on the bus, let's go.”
Ned stumbled out of the group of students and grabbed my arm. “I thought you were going to ditch me man, come on man let's get on the bus.”
He gave my arm a tug and I barely held in a yelp. Ned’s face immediately turned from excitement to concern.
“Are you okay? You look pale. Come on, let's sit down.” He grabbed my uninjured arm and we walked into the bus, sitting about five rows behind the teachers.
“So, Peter, what-”
“Where did you go?” Ned was interrupted by Cindy Moon who was sitting in the row behind us.
I looked at her in confusion. She didn’t see me, did she? “What do you mean?”
She glanced around, before leaning forwards. “I saw you get dropped off in a mini-limo. No-” She held up her hand to cut off my stuttering. “I’m not going to ask and I don’t care why. You were here and then you ran off. Where’d you go?”
I glanced at Ned quickly and back to Cindy. “Erm, well. I-uh, hadn't had breakfast yet so I went to get some.”
“Uh huh. I don’t believe you but whatever. I don’t care.”
I let out a sigh of relief.
“Sup losers.”
“Oh, hey MJ. You’re even later than Peter, what’s with that?” Ned questioned the human who joined us.
“I was held up. Something about a jewelry store being robbed. Does that ring a bell, Peter?”
I groaned. “Sorry MJ. In my defense the police were the ones who closed the street not me.”
They just rolled their eyes.
“Well Penis, what took you so long. Did you have to walk all the way from under your bridge.” Flash taunted me as he stood at the edge of the row.
“If you don’t fuck off Flash, I will rip your tongue off and make you eat it. I’m not in the mood.”
Flash paled considerably before stalking off.
“Thanks MJ.”
“Someone needs to do it for you, loser.” They said as the bus jolted and sputtered to life.
I let out a hiss of pain at the sudden movement. Both Ned and MJ turned to look at me.
“What happened man. From what MJ said I’m guessing there was a robbery. Are you hurt? How bad? Where-?”
“It’s fine Ned. I just got stabbed. When we get home, I’ll sneak away and clean it up.”
“I know it's just a stab to you and you’re used to this, but you’re losing a lot of blood.” MJ pointed to the wet spot on my hoodie that smelled suspiciously coppery. Luckily the hoodie is black so no one will notice.
“Yeah, we need to get there soon. I’m kinda dizzy not gonna lie.”
Ned pulled a Gatorade out of his backpack and gave it to me before looking at me with disappointment. “Only you would get stabbed and still go on a field trip. It probably won’t do anything but here”
“Thanks dude, it means a lot.”
“Well loser, drink up.”
>Time Skip<
“Alright, we’re here.” Mr. Harrington announced as the bus slowed to a stop. “Please get off in an orderly manner and wait by the entrance of the building.”
At his words, people surged to the door, Flash pushing people out of the way so he’d be the first off. Mr. Harrington gave a sigh of disappointment and didn’t even bother trying to regain order, knowing it would be useless. Most of the students stared at the building in amazement and I don’t blame them. The first time I was here I couldn’t look away. Ned, MJ and I waited until everyone else was off, before we walked off the bus and toward the crowd of excited children. Well technically they’re teenagers but they act like children.
“Alright quiet now!” Mr. Harrington tried and failed to silence the students.
“SHUT UP!” MJ yelled, and boy, that worked.
Mr. Harrington gave MJ a grateful smile before lecturing the students. “We will walk in quietly-” He emphasized that word, “And wait by the door. I will go sign us in and we will patiently wait for our tour guide. Am I understood?”
The now quiet class nodded and Mr. Harrington began to lead them into the building. They walked in without an issue, but as I walked in FRIDAY’S voice rang out from the nearest speaker.
“Helicopter Parent Protocol activated. Please wait here, the nearest Stark Jr. Guard member has been alerted and will be here shortly.”
Shit. I forgot about the protocol. The class immediately began to mumble among themselves in confusion while Flash pointed at me.
“It was Parker. He was the las one to walk in. Look at that, you’re finally going to get in trouble for lying.”
Well, he wasn’t wrong, someone give him an award.
Mr. Harrington worriedly glanced at me and then to the employees walking around, probably worried that I messed something up. “Peter, what-”
“Peter!” The employees and my classmates parted like the red sea at the arrival of the ‘Nearest Stark Jr. Member.’
“What are you doing here, Mr. Loki Sir?” I managed to get out, trying not to fall over, or let my class know I know Loki as a sudden wave of dizziness washed over me.
He looked me up and down, obviously scanning for injuries, his eyes noticeably stopping on the wet spot on my hoodie.
“Helicopter Parent protocol was activated and I was nearby. Let's go.”
He walked toward me and put an arm around my shoulder. I sunk into his touch and barely noticed as he began to lead me to the infirmary.
“Hey! Where are you taking him, he’s supposed to stay with the class. Unless you are his guardian, I cannot allow you to take him.” Mr. Harrington called out.
Loki stopped and was probably about to yell at my teacher when Alice spoke up. “I apologize for stepping in, however, due to the papers I signed, I must. Helicopter Parent Protocol means your student is injured, possibly badly. If you don’t allow Mr. Loki here to take Pet-your student to the infirmary I’ll be forced to report you for child endangerment and end your field trip before it has even begun. Your student will be escorted back to your class once he has gotten the proper treatment, Again, I apologize, but Mr. Stark doesn’t allow his workers or visitors to wander around when they are severely injured.”
Mr. Harrington stood in shock for a few moments before responding. “Very well. So long as he returns to my class you may take him.”
Loki gave Alice a nod of thanks, before continuing on his way. “So, Pete, what happened at the jewelry store?”
I glanced up at him. “How did you know about that?”
“Your father has FRIDAY alert him anytime Spiderman is on the news. I was merely in the room when FRIDAY told him of your little adventure. Now how bad is it?”
This is one thing I love about Loki. As much as I love my dad, he gets so worried when I walk in with as much as a bruise. Loki understands that I don’t need to be babied 24/7.
“Fucking got stabbed.”
Loki’s eyes widened. Not at the news, but at the choice of words.
“You are a cinnamon roll. Cinnamon rolls do not swear.”
“Sometimes they do.” I muttered, trying to keep my eyes open.
“No, you’re too innocent.” He glanced at me. “Stay awake bud, we’re almost there.”
“M’tryin.” At those words I passed out like a princess into the arms of her prince. Except I wasn’t a prince, I was a twink. And Loki wasn’t a prince, he’s a raging bisexual.
Ned POV
After Peter was led out by Loki himself, the class immediately began to talk among themselves. Flash’s voice was the loudest,
“I don’t get it. Why would the god of mischief take Penis? Why not like a doctor or employee or something like that? It just doesn’t make sense.”
“Well class, quiet down.” Mr. Harrington, for once, managed to quiet the class. “We will continue the trip as expected. See, the tour guide is here. Please direct your attention to her. Peter will rejoin us shortly.”
Peter didn’t rejoin the class until after they toured the museum, during lunch.
Peter POV
I did not want to go back to my class. How was I supposed to explain what happened earlier. I woke up about an hour and a half ago, having only been out for thirty minutes.
“Do I have to go back, dad.” I groaned, looking towards Mr. Stark who was standing next to me. He ruffled my hair and gave me a sympathetic smile.
“Sorry kiddo, you’ve got to go back. Who knows what your teacher would do if you never rejoined. Plus, you’d get even more attention if you never came back. Imagine what questions they’d have at school.”
I sighed. “I guess you’re right.”
He clapped my good shoulder. “Good. Let's go.”
I looked up at him in confusion. “Why are you coming with me? What if people see you, and-”
“I’m going with you, no questions asked. Now come on they’re in the cafeteria.”
I shrugged and stood up. “Alright than, there's no arguing with you.”
Tony smirked. “That’s right. I taught you well kiddo.”
I laughed and we began the walk to the cafeteria and my classmates.

Chapter Text
“Dude what happened.” Ned asked as I joined him and MJ at their table. Luckily, they sat near the edge so I don't know if the other students noticed my arrival.
“Well apparently FRIDAY considers being stabbed a serious wound, and alerted the nearest person to take me to the infirmary. She was overreacting a bit if you ask me.” I said with all seriousness. “The person who was closest just happened to be Loki. Did anyone ask questions?”
Ned let out a nervous laugh. “First of all, being stabbed is a serious injury. Secondly, of course they asked questions. You do know what school we go to. FRIDAY was cool though, she deflected all of them.”
I mentally thanked FRIDAY. She was pretty cool sometimes.
“Hey nerd,” MJ turned to face me “The lady at the front desk wanted me to tell you that you owe her or something like that.”
I frowned. The lady at the desk . . . “Oh, Alice? Gosh dang it, now I’ve got to buy her coffee or something. She drinks coffee too much.”
“You are not allowed to talk about drinking a lot of coffee, you drink so much I'm surprised you're not dead right now.”
“She was so cool though.” Ned gushed. “She was all like, ‘I will call child services, don’t mess with me’”
I laughed. “If you think Alice is cool, you should meet her girlfriend. She goes to college and works here. Plus, she brings me chocolate.”
Ned sighed. “She sounds cool. You have cool friends, man.”
I slung my arm around his shoulder and nodded. “Heck yeah I do.”
“Hey Penis,” Flash yelled from across the cafeteria “Heard you got in trouble!”
“Flash, please do not yell at your classmate,” Mr. Harrington said. “If you continue to do so, I will call your parents and you will leave early.”
Flash sat down, face purple from either rage or embarrassment, it’s hard to tell.
“Did something happen with Mr. Harrington? He never steps in until the last moment.” I leaned in and asked my companions.
Ned shook his head.
“It’s probably cause we’re on a field trip,” MJ stated nonchalantly as they turned the page in the book they were reading.
I nodded. That made sense.
“Hey Ned, do you. . .” I trailed off once I noticed Ned was not paying attention. He was staring at something behind me, his jaw slack.
I turned around, dreading the worst, and internally cried. Bucky and Natasha were walking toward me, Ziplock bag in hand.
I slumped in my seat. “Someone please kill me,” I said as Nat and Bucky sat at our table, drawing some looks from my class.
Bucky slid the bag of cookies across the table towards me, and suddenly all was well in the world.
“Awe yisss. Peanut butter chocolate chip. Thanks Uncle Bucky.”
“What, no thank you for me,” Nat teased “I helped too.”
I immediately gave her a side hug, not caring who saw. “Thank you Auntie Nat, I have been blessed.”
Opening the bag, I nearly melted with delight at the smell that wafted from the cookies. Grabbing a cookie, I crammed it into my mouth, and offered the bag to my friends, who wisely took two each. I’m pretty sure MJ smiled. She never does that, well she does sometimes, I guess. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a certain person walking toward us and I slumped down in my seat again.
Flash walked up, seemingly to be in awe of being in the presence of an Avenger. “Why are you sitting with these losers?” Flash unwisely said to Auntie Nat, “Why don’t you come sit at my table with the future interns of SI.”
Bucky glared at my tormentors while Nat responded. “I’ll pass. I prefer not to sit with bullies, I enjoy hanging out with Peter here. I am certain that you will never intern here with how you act. Kindly escort yourself away from this table before I force you.”
Flash sputtered in indignation before stalking away in an attempt to keep his dignity.
I winced as Bucky turned toward me, looking murderous. “You never said you’re being bullied.”
“I’m not,” I mumbled out, just loud enough for him and Nat to hear.
“I call BS. Why didn’t you tell me ребенок паук?” (Baby Spider)
I looked down “It’s not that bad.”
“Yes, it is, don’t listen to him,” MJ spoke up and I groaned.
“I’m going to kill him,” Bucky growled.
“No don’t! Sure, he’s a jerk, but imagine the paperwork.”
“I don’t give a damn about paperwork.” He muttered “Someone hurting my ангел. (angel) That’s unforgivable.”
I desperately tried to think of something that would persuade him not to become a child murderer. “Imagine what Uncle Steve would say.”
“Don’t use my boyfriend against me. He would join me anyways.”
“Auntie Nat!” I turned to the other Russian spy at my table. “Please no murder.”
She looked at me with a gleam in her eyes. “No promises.”
I groaned in defeat.
“Alright class, we’re about to begin the tour again, please clean up your stuff,” Mr. Harrington announced before turning back to the tour guide and continuing their conversation.
Nat and Bucky stood up to leave.
“Alright kid, we’ll see you around,” Bucky ruffled my hair, ignoring my protests.
“Bye Peters friends,” Nat said as they walked off.
“Remember, murder is frowned upon,” I called after them.
Bucky waved me off as they turned down the hall and disappeared.
“Well than, “I said, ignoring my classmates chattering in the background. “Flash is going to die.”
As those words left my mouth Mr. Harrington walked up. “Ah, Mr. Parker. Well, you missed the museum but that’s about it. If I may ask, what ailed you?”
“Erm, I had a migraine,” I said unconvincingly.
“A migraine.”
“Yeah, it was pretty bad.”
Mr. Harrington sighed and I could practically feel the disappointment radiating off him. “Okay. Whatever. Let’s just continue. Miss Green, if you would like to proceed.”
My head snapped up so fast I got whiplash. Miss Green. As in Susan Green whose desk is next to mine. Welp. Nothing I can do now.
As the tour started, Ned, MJ and I slowly walked at the back of the group.
“Man, you didn’t tell me Natasha and Bucky were coming at lunch,” Ned excitedly whispered as we walked towards the business and marketing center.
“I didn’t know they were coming. At least we got cookies,” I motioned to my backpack where the cookies were.
Ned nodded “Yeah, Bucky’s cookies are the best.”
MJ nodded as well. “They’re even better when Natasha helps.”
“You only say that cause you like everything girls do,” Ned argued, “Bucky’s cookies are good whether or not Natasha helps.”
“Nice phrasing of the first sentence Ned, you couldn’t be any more correct.” MJ smirked.
I snorted. “You’re such a lesbian.”
They just winked at me and continued on their way.
A thought crossed my mind and I pulled out my phone with a grin. After shooting a text to someone, I shoved my phone in my back pocket as we stopped in front of a conference room.
“Alright, there’s a meeting in progress here so please be quiet. We will be separated by a window, but that doesn’t block all noises. We have been given the honor to look in this important meeting. Mrs. Potts and her personal assistant are leading this meeting, keep your amazement to yourself,” Susan seemed to be holding in a smirk as she looked at me.
I thought for a moment. Peppers personal intern. That means. . . Harley.
My face must’ve lit up, because MJ elbowed me violently to get my attention and started silently laughing. “You’re such a simp.”
I rolled my eyes, blushing furiously. Part of me was excited, while another part was furious. “Yeah, well that jerk never told me he was back already.”
Ned glanced at me confused, “What do you mean?”
“I mean he left on a business trip and I wasn’t the first person he told was back. In fact, he never told me at all.”
“He probably wanted to surprise you.”
I pouted. “Yeah, well I’m not even going to be able to say hi, we’re with the class.”
MJ shrugged. “Sucks to be you than.”
Susan typed on her phone for a moment, before typing a code in on the door. “Alright guys, there’s some chairs that we will be sitting in and the meeting is taking place in the other side of the window. Please be quiet and I know this may not seem interesting but trust me, you don’t want to miss this.”
With that out of the way, the class flooded through the doors, most sitting near the back. Ned, MJ, and I found ourselves on the front row and I had perfect view of Harley. His curly hair and muscular yet slender frame were hard to miss. He glanced through the window where the class was getting settled and caught my eye. Shifting in his seat, he glanced back at where Pepper was talking, although I caught his eyes flickering towards me multiple times. It was clear he was impatient for the meeting to be over, and so was I. That is, until I heard the whispers of one of the girls behind me.
“Oh my gosh,” She whispered “Look at him. Lacey look. He looks like he’s our age.”
“Yeah, he does. He’s kinda cute, not my type though,” Her friend who must’ve been Lacey said and it was clear that she was not interested.
“I know he’s not your type, but he is my type. And he keeps looking at me. When this thing is over, I want to talk to him.”
Something feral rose up in me at her comment. I know he’s hot, I mean come on just look at him. But no one else is allowed to have him. He’s-
“Mine,” I muttered quietly, gazing at Harley, who caught my eye.
He pulled at his collar, and the only place I wanted to be in at that moment was in his arms, kissing him.
“Hey man, you good?” Ned asked. “We know Harleys yours so I don’t know why you felt the need to say that.”
So he didn’t hear the girls behind us. Oh well, I’ll tell him later.
“He’s just horny cause he hasn’t seen his boyfriend in a week,” MJ smirked and I almost smacked them.
“Am not,” I quietly protested. “People are talking about him, that’s all.”
They rolled their eyes, “Sure.”
We stayed quiet for the duration of the meeting, my eyes never leaving Harley for one second.
Before I knew it, the meeting was over and I saw Harley discreetly sign at me
‘bathroom’
However, before I could rush to the bathroom to meet up with my boyfriend, Susan stopped us.
“Alright, so now some of the people will let us in the room to discuss a few things that they do in their jobs, please be respectful.”
I watched Harley dart out of the room and I groaned. I raised my hand.
“Yes,” Susan looked at me knowingly.
“May I use the restroom?”
She nodded and I practically flew out of the room and into the bathroom where Harley was waiting. I had barely stepped foot in the bathroom, when I was grabbed, pulled in, and slammed against the wall. Harleys lips were on mine within seconds. I moaned against his lips and all worries I had about the girls behind me were gone. I held on to Harley's tie as he bit my lip, asking for entrance. My lips parted slightly, and that was all he needed to slip his tongue into my mouth. After a small battle for dominance, he won, and I simply relaxed against my boyfriend.
As all good things must come to an end, we broke apart, breathing heavily.
“Hey Darling,” He muttered against my lips. “Miss me?”
I groaned. “Like you would not believe. The bed’s been so cold love.”
“Yeah well,” He grinned. “That won’t be the case tonight.”
My knees felt weak at his words, and I almost kissed him again. But before I did, I remembered.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were back, you jerk. I was going to plan something.”
“Don’t worry, I’ve got plans. You may want to freshen up though. Don’t want you going back to your tour group like that now do we.”
Reluctantly, I let go of my boyfriend and we walked towards the sinks. Turning one on, I scrubbed my face in a futile attempt to lessen the swelling in my lips.
I heard Harley laugh and saw him gesture to me out of the corner of my eye. “Come here Darling, let me help.”
I pouted, but complied, turning towards Harley. He immediately ran his fingers through my hair to tame it, while I fixed his tie.
“So, you going to tell me about earlier?” He questioned.
“Hmm. What do you mean?”
“Earlier, during the meeting. You were looking at me with something in your eyes, and I’m not ashamed to say I nearly lost all self-control and jumped you right there.”
“Oh, that,” I grumbled. “The girls behind me were talking about you. They said that they were going to talk to you after the meeting.”
Harley grinned. “So, you were jealous.”
I blushed. “Was not. I just, well. . .” I trailed off, muttering something under my breath.
“You what, love?”
“I, well, wanted them to know you were mine.”
Now it was his turn to blush. “Don’t you know it Darling, that’s what I love to hear. Now come on. Let's get you back to your trip before I lose control.”
He gave me a peck on the nose, before pulling away and leading me out of the bathroom.
Unfortunately, we separated to our own groups, and I met up with Ned and MJ.
“So, how’s Harley?” MJ smirked.
“Good.”
“That’s it, just good?”
I felt my face heat up and turned to them. “What, do you want me to say he’s hot. Do you want me to say I’m counting down the seconds for the tour to be over so I can spend time with my boyfriend.”
They laughed. “Whatever nerd.”
I turned to Ned for support, but he just shrugged and turned away in a, ‘I can’t help you’ way.
Once the talk ended, we headed toward the labs. Luckily for me, we didn’t stay to chat, although I did hear the girl complain to her friend that she couldn’t talk to the ‘hot intern.’
“Alright, we’re heading towards the fun part of the tour. Remember, no phones are allowed, and any new inventions you see need to stay in the labs. This means no telling friends or family.” She glanced around to be sure we all understood. “Alright, let's go.”
“Hey Penis, I bet this is the closest you’ve ever been to a real lab.” Flash said from behind me. When did he get there?
“Just leave me alone Flash. Don’t you have anything better to do with your life.” Why does he do this all the time? It’s annoying.
“You’re just do-”
“There he is! There’s my favorite white boy!”
MJ perked up at the arrival of the tower's lesbian.
“Hi, welcome to chili’s.” I greeted the fellow chaotic queer.
If my classmates weren’t surprised earlier, they were now.
“Is that princess Shuri?”
“Does she know Parker?”
“Why did he respond like that, does he know we’re at SI.”
“He's quoting vines bro. Do you not know what vines are?”
“Princess Shuri? What are you doing here?” Susan asked, although she didn't sound confused.
“I'm here to see Peter of course. And his lovely friends.”
“Wait you know Penis. Come on how much did he pay you. No need to keep up the act”
Shuri’s normally cheerful face turned stony. “What did you say.”
Flash seemed nervous. “Um, well, I said there's no way you know Penis or his loser friends.”
Shuri smirked and I almost laughed at the sound MJ made from beside me.
“Well, that's where you're wrong. Peter here actually happens to be one of my best friends, and if I hear you call him or his friends names, I'll make shoes out of your feet. Now scram.”
Flash shoved himself out of the way, looking extremely uncomfortable.
Shuri grinned as she approached and we did our complex handshake thing.
“Nice threat, where'd you get that one?”
“Would you believe me if I said I came up with it myself.”
“MJ, come get your girlfriend, she's creepy.”
MJ laughed. “Thats why I love her.”
“That's not the only reason you love me though, right?” Shuri fake pouted.
“Of course not doll, I can name multiple right now if you wish.”
Shuri slung her arm around MJ's shoulders. “Tell me later, when we’re not busy. Oh, and-” Shuri whispered into MJ's ear and their face erupted into flames.
“Um guys,” Ned nervously glanced at the class who was looking at the pair curiously. “We’re still on the tour.”
“Right.” Shuri leaned against MJ’s shoulder. “Well, I’d better be on my way than. I’ll see you later.”
She pranced off and just as she turned down the Hall, T’challa approached from the direction Shuri had arrived from.
“Peter.” T’challa walked up to me, ignoring the others. “Peter, I'm sorry to bother you but have you seen my sister. We've got a meeting and she's been running away from me. She claims she doesn't have to go cause it's her birthday.”
“Oh, I haven’t seen her. Sorry.” I wasn’t sorry.
“well then, I’d better be on my way. Hi Ned, MJ. See you for dinner?”
“Sure.”
At my words, he walked off in the direction Shuri had gone (although he didn't know that). Once he was out of sight Mr. Harrington seemed to get over the fact that an Avenger had been here.
“Mr. Parker, how dare you lie to an Avenger like that. You clearly knew where his sister was.”
I shrugged. “I owed her.”
“Lying is unacceptable no matter what. When we leave you will write a letter for Mr. Black Panther apologizing for your actions.”
“Ok.”
“I apologize for the distractions Miss Green, please continue.”
“Is no one going to say anything about the fact that Penis bribed an Avenger and the princess of Wakanda to pretend to know him?” Flash shoved his way back over to me once he was sure T’challa was far enough away.
“Shut up Flash.” Several people said in unison, making me smile at the look on Flash’s face.
“Alright than, please follow me to the labs. If you’re lucky we may be able to see Bruce Banner. The lab we are going to right now is mainly focused on Gamma Radiation and Biological Sciences. Remember, do not touch anything and be kind to the scientists. Most of them are running on five minutes of sleeping and caffeine, but they did get a warning so who knows, a miracle may have occurred and they might have gotten sleep.”
Each step we took toward the lab comma left a feeling of dread my chest. If Uncle Bruce recognized me, it probably fine, he's pretty chill, but I spend a lot of time in the lab with him, so the employees know me well. I've already accepted the fact that my classmates will find out about the internship, but I'm not ready for them to know about my dad.
“Here we are. To get in you'll need to swipe your ID that you were given at the beginning of the tour. Remember what I said about NDA’s, touching things, and being respectful to the workers.”
Flash’s hand shot into the air, to everyone’s surprise, and without waiting to be called on, he spoke, “Parker wasn’t here when we got our ID’s so he doesn’t have one. What is he going to do, sit out?” He grinned evilly, seeming to think he caught me.
“Mr. Parker has his own badge, is that correct?”
I nodded and she clapped her hands.
“Great! He will use that than.”
Cue the freaking out.
“Ned, MJ, I didn’t grab my badge. I never use it, cause I’m in the biometrics, but only people who live here have that. What do I do?”
“Just text Happy to bring it to you, no big deal.” MJ calmly stated.
“Happy’s not here, he took Hope to a meeting and he’ll probably be gone until tonight. I mean I could ask Wanda; she may be free.’
With that thought in my mind, I grabbed my phone out of my back pocket.
Biderman _Hey, can you grab my badge off my desk and bring it to me. Plz at least try to somewhat disguise yourself.
Witchgirl _Sure, I’m omw
Biderman _Thx
Now we wait.

Chapter 4: Done
Summary:
I'm so sorry this took so long to post. Who knew how much work it takes to get a job. It's done now and I'm kinda sad but at the same time I'm glad it's done. Enjoy ig.
Chapter Text
I glanced around the hall, anxiously waiting for Wanda. The group of my schoolmates grew smaller as more and more of them scanned their ID and walked into the room.
“Finally.” I breathed out as I saw Wanda's hair turn down the hall. She had semi disguised herself, by wearing glasses and tying her hair up. She was wearing a fake ID, who knows where it came from, and looked like she worked here. You wouldn't be able to tell unless you were actively looking
“Here Peter,” Wanda said as she handed me my badge “Try not to let it happen again.” she winked.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, I didn't think about it. I mean I never used it anyways. If I'm not traveling via vent system, I'm in the biometrics so. . ..”
“I get it. Now what I don't get is how you travel through the vents. Isn't it dirty up there?”
“Nah, I'm pretty sure dad made them self-cleaning or something once he learned uncle Clint likes to go in them. Speaking of which you owe me $20.”
“Yeah, I still can't believe Clint won.”
“What did I say. Vent superiority.”
“Whatever I'll-”
“Peter, please stop harassing the employees.” Mr. Harrington said sternly and I saw flash laughing from the other side of the door. Mr. Harrington then turned to Wanda “I apologize Miss, Mr. Parker here likes to wander off.”
I looked down in embarrassment.
Wanda put her hand on my shoulder. “Oh, he's not bothering me at all. In fact, I was asking about a project we were working on. Peter here is the brains of nearly everything we do here.”
Now I was blushing for another reason.
“Don't embarrass me like that Wanda.” I complained.
In return she pinched my cheek, something she knows I hate “You make it so easy though. I'll let you go now; I see you have something to get too. I'll see you tomorrow for the presentation bye.”
Her smile held a lot of emotions the most visible being smugness. There was no presentation tomorrow and she knew that.
“Yep, I'll see you then.”
At that she walked off leaving behind a befuddled Mr. Harrington.
“Wait so you actually do work here?”
I nodded
“Why didn't-”
‘NDA's” I interrupted “Most of the work I do is confidential so they try to keep my appearances secret to the outside world. I use facade of an internship to cover any questions people have.”
His face resembled that of a fish, open in shock, before he laughed “I should have known.”
We turned back to go to the lab and the first thing I saw was Flash’s face. He looked as if he were about to explode and it was then that I realized I wasn't as quiet as I had thought I was. Scanning my card, I walked in and ignored my classmates. I did tell them they were the ones who didn't believe me.
Susan smiled and we continued to head down the hall my classmates staring in awe through the glass windows showcasing the labs in all of their glory. Today must have been a good day, only one of the labs were on fire. As we passed that lab a few students turned to Susan, who spoke before they could even ask their questions.
“That lab is fine. They're always catching things on fire, whether an accident on purpose no one knows that's why they're called the fire squad.”
“Is that even safe?” A kid, I think his name was Tom, asked.
“That's a good question what's your name?”
“Timothy, but everyone calls me Tim.”
I was close.
“Well Tim, Mr. Stark has all labs made to withstand the Hulk as a precaution, so that includes fire damage.”
We stopped in front of a lab door. the green light was on that means-
“You guys are lucky; it seems Doctor Banner is here today. Before we go in, I must remind you not to bother the employees. You may ask questions but no pestering and if they say it's confidential drop it. You will be escorted out if you ask too many times. Keep your phones away, no photography or videos. Let's go in.”
The class chattered in excitement and I don’t blame them. It’s not every day you get to see Doctor Banner. Well, for me it is, but that’s not the point. The door opened and I immediately felt in my zone. The class immediately went to Uncle Bruce, while I went to see what the other scientists in the room were doing.
“Hey Lana.” I greeted as I approached her desk. “Did you ever figure out how nuclear fusion works?”
“Not quite, I’m still working on it. Is this your class?”
She laughed when I nodded. “Only you would get a tour of where you work.”
“Peter,” Mr. Harrington walked towards me. “Someone else you’ve worked with I assume.”
“Yep, this is Lana. She's kinda like the second in command. Right now, they’re trying to figure out nuclear fusion to use it as a clean energy source. Imagine how clean the environment would become if such a discovery were made. It's incredible to imagine the advances in science. But it's a lot harder to actually figure it out than you might think. We've hit roadblocks on nearly all sides.”
Lana nodded in agreement “Yes. However, we have made incredible progress. At the rate we're going, we could discover the solution within two years.”
“Wow. Would you mind showing me your work? I'd love to see what you guys have discovered.” Mr. Harrington asked hesitantly.
“Of course, you may,” Lana said excitedly.
I laughed. Scientists. We all get that way when we talk about our projects.
I walked away leaving them to their own devices. I've nearly memorized everything in the notes, and Bruce was no longer being mobbed by children.
I sat on a surprisingly clean counter and greeted the tired doctor.
“Hey Bruce, anything new?”
“Not quite. I don't think we'll have to wait long for one, we’re this close.” He pinched his fingers said they were almost touching “We’re just stuck on one thing.”
“Can I see what you're working on?”
“Of course, it's always good to have another pair of eyes take a look.”
He typed a few things on his computer before swiping up his hologram screen showing a list of notes and a problem that was close to 1000 digits long. I found as my eyes scanned the problem “Where did you get the X?”
Bruce squinted and leaned towards the problem to look closer at the term “That was-Hmmm" He pulled up a different folder of notes “David can I see you for a moment.” Bruce called and immediately a young man rushed over to Bruce.
“You called.”
“You did this study right?” Bruce gestured to the open folder.
“Yes, is there an issue with it? I wouldn't be surprised, that was done 2 weeks ago.”
Bruce nodded in understanding. Clearly something happened 2 weeks ago that I wasn't aware of.
“Can you go over it with Terry? Peter thinks something might be incorrect with it.”
David nodded and rushed to his desk pulling up the file and calling for Terry as he ran.
“Well,” Bruce turned to me “You may have saved us a lot of time going over that problem.”
“Glad I could help.”
The lab quickly became a frenzy as the scientists ran around excited about the new development. The students picked up on their energy and Susan must have decided to leave early. she announced loud enough for the whole class to hear.
“Due to this new realization, we will have to cut this lab trip short. I already have the green light to go to a different lab that I have more understanding of. Please thank the good doctor so we may leave.”
A few unenthusiastic goodbyes rang out as we left. I practically had to peel myself away from the lab.
“Tell me everything later during dinner please, I want to know if we can finally move on to the next stage.”
“Of course, Peter. Now go, I think they're going to your lab.”
My lab? My lab! The one I'm kind of in charge of. This can't be happening.
“It's your lab isn't it.” MJ said from beside me. When did they get there?
“I believe so” I groaned. Why does it have to be my lab? My only hope is that Susan warned them I was coming.
She didn't. It took a second for them to notice me and confusion was plastered across their faces. April walked up to me.
“Peter what are you doing here?” She quietly asked. Luckily it wasn't Lily asking, she's incapable of being quiet.
“Field trip as you can tell. If you could pretend not to know me, that would be great.”
April shrugged “I might, I might not. You'll just have to see.” She smirked before sauntering off to Lily.
I smiled internally. They may be annoying, but I'm glad that everyone feels comfortable with me. I didn’t want to have a boss employee relationship with the other scientists. That's boring.
I watched as my classmates walked around my lab, keeping a close eye on Flash. I didn't want anyone messing with something they shouldn't be messing with.
“Whose desk is that?” Abe asked, pointing to my very cluttered desk.
“Oh, that one.” Lily bounced over to where Abe was standing “That one belongs to our boss Peter.”
I winced please no one made the connection.
“That's cool!” I saw Abe glance at me from the corner of his eyes before directing his attention back to Lily “What do you guys do in here? I saw some desks have stuff for like medical things but this desk has blueprints on it.”
“We do practically everything.” Lily said her ever present grin on her face. “Right now, we're helping Peter create a new arm for Bucky. There's nothing wrong with his old one but peter's always trying to make things better.”
“Wow, you guys work on stuff for The Avengers!”
"Yep. Well Peter does most of the work but we help. We just can't mess anything up though or it might end in disaster.”
Abe just looked around in excitement “That's so cool.”
Luckily, I don't think anyone figured out that the boss who worked with The Avengers was the same person who sat next to them in math class. That’d be awkward.
Everything was going well, until Flash tried to open a cabinet. Not just any cabinet though, this one held top secret confidential files that only dad and I had access too. Either Flash couldn't read or he had a death wish.
The iron doors slammed shut along with a metal door that slid over the cabinet. FRIDAY turned intruder mode on and let out a high-pitched ringing, causing everyone in the room to clap their hands over their ears and fall into a fetal position.
“FRIDAY” I somehow managed to say from my position on the floor “FRIDAY, override code 319459.”
Friday went silent and my class nervously stood up, some looking at me, some at Flash.
“Wha-what was that?” Cindy stuttered.
“Alarm.” April said with a frown “Someone tried to get into the confidential drawer.”
Everyone turned to said drawer and saw the perpetrator sitting on the ground rubbing at his ears.
“FRIDAY, please bring security.” Susan announced.
“What” Mr. Harrington asked, “Why?”
“Well, that drawers confidential. Only Peter and Mr. Stark can open it. He was told not to touch anything and he disobeyed. I'm sorry but he will sit in the lobby while you finish the tour.”
“But-but my father can pay you. He'll-”
“What pay off Tony?” Steve walked in “Good luck with that.”
“You Midgardians are foolish. The man of iron could buy the city if he so desired. Why do you think he'll accept your money?” Thor followed Steve in the room “Is there something I don't understand?”
Steve shook his head at the confused golden retriever. “No, you're right. The child is simply not thinking.”
“I apologize if I’m stepping over a line, but why are you here?” Mr. Harrington looked at the two heroes that walked in.
“FRIDAY told us someone attempted to force themselves into the confidential drawer. We assumed that the worst and rushed here. I wasn't aware tour was going on.”
I felt like smacking the smirk off of Steve's face. That liar. He knew. Thor didn’t but-oh shit. Thor is not subtle at all. If he sees me, I'm even more screwed. I attempted to hide behind Ned but it was too late.
“Peter, what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be getting ready?” Thor announced to my whole class and I've haven’t wanted to cry so bad since my aunt died.
I walked forward and pulled him to the side right, as security walked in. with most of the class’ attention on Flash I whispered to Thor.
“I'm on a tour. I'll get ready later. You have to pretend not to know me.”
“But why? These are your fellow classmates. Surely they know already.”
I groaned “Whatever. Just try to ignore me.”
“Whatever you say son-of-Stark. I'll see you at the party.”
I slammed my head on the wall. Hopefully no one heard.
Did he say son-of-Stark?” Abe practically yelled, drawing attention back to me.
“No” I said like a liar.
“I'm pretty sure he did.” Cindy chimed in agreement.
“I don't know what you’re talking about.” I said looking towards Steve for help.
“Alright kiddos. What do you say we have a little Q&A with The Avengers. Do they have time for that FRIDAY?”
“They do. Should I assemble the team in conference room C?”
“Yes please Friday” He turned to the class minus flash “Follow me.”
He turned and walked out, the class following him like ducklings. I had assumed Mr. Harrington would object but he seemed to be in too much shock to do anything.
“That was a close one.” Ned stated from beside me.
I nodded “I have a feeling it won't be a secret for much longer.”
>Time Skip<
The Q&A had been going well, until the end, when Tim asked,
“Who is stark junior? I keep seeing and hearing people talk about them.”
“Well,” My father leaned forwards “It's a technically a secret, but he's my adopted son.”
“Not much of a secret anymore, huh.” Nat muttered.
“You have a son?” Cindy asked and dad laughed.
“I did just say that yes.”
My classmates chattered at the new information.
“Can we meet them.”
Tony winked at me “You already have.”
I swear it was like a bomb went off.
“I can't believe we met Tony Stark's adopted son without even realizing it.”
“Who do you think it was?”
“Do you think it was Mrs. Potts assistant?”
“Alright that's enough.” Nat stood up “And it's not Harley.”
I sighed as I heard all my classmates tried to guess who the mystery person is.
“Say thank you to the Avengers and we’ll leave.” Mr. Harrington stood up.
A loud “thank you” echoed around the room and the class was led out.
I walked by Mr. Harrington as we walked into the lobby.
“Can I stay here? I have to come back here later anyways; it makes more sense.”
Mr. Harrington thought for a moment “I'm sorry but no. I’d need your guardians approval and you don't have any. So, I’m afraid you must come back to school with us.”
“Wait a second” Tony walked in dramatically
“How can I help you Mr. Stark” Mr. Harrington asked nervously.
Dad walked towards us and put his hand on my shoulder.
“I was just going to ask if Peter here could stay. I kind of need his help for project and he's needed in his lab.” Tony smirked.
“Oh-uh” Mr. Harrington looked confused “I’d need his guardians' approval first.”
“That's Ok, I'll wait while you call them.” Tony waved his arm gesturing for him to continue.
Mr. Harrington pulled out his phone then pressed a few buttons. The phone went straight to voicemail so he dialed a different number.
Tony pretended to look surprised when his phone started to ring. He picked it up and answered.
“Hello”
“Alright you may stay Peter.” Mr. Harrington said in a rush. “I'm just going to go now.”
Mr. Harrington rushed out the door, shoving the class out before him.
I managed to hear someone say before the door was closed “Wait, they said the lab we were just in belonged to someone named Peter. Did they mean our Peter?”
That was I heard before the door closed, my class on one side, me on the other.”
“I'm never doing that again.” I groaned.
Tony laughed “Come on kiddo, Let's go.”
