Work Text:
Shouto heard screaming and walked towards the direction of the kitchen. He ducked and narrowly avoided getting hit in the head with a pan Katsuki threw in his direction. The students were herding into the kitchen to see what the commotion was about. Iida and Kirishima were standing in the middle of the room trying to talk down Katsuki.
“This behavior is not acceptable-“ Iida was cut off when Katsuki screamed and threw the toaster at him.
“Bro! Calm down. Its not that big of a deal we can get eggs and eat them tomorrow!” Kirishima was holding his hands up trying to deescalate the situation.
Katsuki ignored him throwing everything in reach and screamed “Don’t touch my stuff! It’s fucking Sunday. I have eggs on Sunday!”
Kirishima grabbed the one of the pots out of Katsukis hands before he could throw it at his classmates. Kirishima felt exasperated. He knew Katsuki was upset, but he was being childish at this point.
“Don’t touch me!” Katsuki screamed and yanked himself back falling on his butt. He set off sparks trying to get everyone to back away and kicked out his feet.
Shouto heard the main door open and turned see Izuku who was coming in from his morning work out and approached the crowd in the kitchen.
“What’s going on?” he asked.
Shouto pointed to the blond “he is upset.”
Izuku tried to look over the heads of the students.
“Something about eggs?” Shouto supplied.
Izuku mumbled something about it being Sunday. Shouto wasn’t even surprised that the greenhead knew that.
Katsuki shouted again and Izuku snaped into focus and marched into the kitchen.
“Okay guys that’s it.” Izuku said calmly shoving through and getting between Katsuki who was still on the ground and the rest of the class.
“Iida can you go get eggs from class 2-A dorms.”
“We shouldn’t reward bad behavior. He can get eggs-“
Izuku stopped him with a look “Please.”
Iida took an upset. He took a deep breath and glared at Katsuki before he huffed out and left the dorm slamming the door.
Izuku turned to glance at Katsuki on the floor who now had his hands over his ears.
“Can everyone leave us alone please.” Izuku asked with a calm voice.
The students looked reluctant, but after Izuku gave them a serous look they trickled out into the dining room.
Izuku watched as some students rolled their eyes and others just seemed confused. They just didn’t get it.
“Iida went to get you eggs.” Izuku whispered, then leaned back onto the cupboards and slid to the floor between Katsuki and the entrance to the kitchen.
He watched as Katsuki hold his hands over his ears and rock tears streaming down his eyes.
…
Iida reluctantly got the eggs for Izuku. He knew if he did not Izuku would. But he also went to the teacher’s dorms to inform Aizawa about the damage Katsuki has done to the kitchen.
He ran ahead and saw that everyone was in the living room waiting to get into the kitchen. It was early and everyone wanted to eat breakfast. He walked into the kitchen and was interrupted by Izuku before he could enter.
“Thank you Iida.” He whispered.
Iida tried to look around him at Katsuki but Izuku stepped in front of him.
“C-can we have the Kitchen? Just a little bit more. Promise!”
Iida was disappointed in Katsuki, but trusted Izuku. He gave him a scolding look then walked into the living room with everyone else.
…
Izuku started cooking Katsukis eggs the way he knew he liked them. He was going to clean once Katsuki had his eggs. The burn marks were going to be a pain to scrub and they probably needed a new toaster.
“What the hell happened here!” Aizawa snaped walking in and looking at the mess in the kitchen.
Izuku jumped shocked at the noise then flinched when he realized Aizawa was going to make the situation worse.
“Aizawa can we talk in the living room?” he asked keeping his voice low.
“Don’t take the fall problem child. I can see the burn marks!” he snaped looking over to Katsuki who glared at him.
“I’m not. We should just-“
Aizawa ignored Izuku and turned to his second problem child “Katsuki what the hell was this temper tantrum. You are almost an adult. This is not acceptable. And stop sparking your hands at me!”
Izuku slammed the pan down after putting the eggs on a plate. He felt bad for making a loud noise but was furious. He walked over to and handed Katsuki the plate then stomped over to his teacher. He was so angry he could feel his quirk running through his veins.
He clenched his teeth attempting not to yell.
“We should talk in the dining room, or I will report you and this whole damn school.”
Aizawas eyebrows shot up and followed the boy to the dining room. It was between the kitchen and the living room. The students in the living room all shifted slightly so they could see in. They all froze when they saw Izuku leading Aizawa out of the kitchen with no Katsuki. Too curious every one of them sat quietly eavesdropping.
“Isn’t it a requirement for teachers to read students medical files? When Midnight pulled her stunt on Katsuki I thought she was making an educated risk, but now!” Izuku waved his hands “Either you are all insensitive assholes or didn’t read our fucking files!” Izuku snaped
Aizawa was stiff. There was a lot going on and he may have skimmed the files focusing on specific quirk drawbacks for specific students. He knew from the fury in his students eyes that he somehow messed up.
“What kind of unobservant heroes are you!? Katsuki is Autistic. So no! You don’t get to call a meltdown that was bound to happen when you took away his routine and shoved him into a dorm a temper tantrum!”
Izuku rolled his eyes at Aizawas shocked face and the gasp from the living room.
He held up his hands and started listing specific Autistic traits Katsuki had “He is touch avoidant. Cant wear certain things like ties. Can't seem to quite grasp socially acceptable behavior. You saw him have a meltdown at the damn sports festival where he literally kicked and screamed. He sticks with a vigorous routine. He has to remember to control his voice. Honestly, he is hyper focused on becoming number one hero!”
Izuku took another deep breath glaring at Aizawa “And while we are at it don’t tell him not to spark off. He literally sweats a toxic chemicals how else is he going to get rid of it? If you read his medical file, which you clearly didn’t, you would know that Glycerin lowers blood pressure and Katsuki has dangerously low blood pressure. His body produces high adrenaline which doesn’t help when he is having a meltdown. And any form of sedative, like Midnight, could stop his damn heart!.”
Izuku started pacing the dining room. He was so upset. He could feel the students in the living room watch them.
Izuki took a few calming breaths before turning back to their teacher.
“Look. I have watched out for Katsuki our whole lives, and I won’t let anyone hurt him. You can work with him on dealing with his meltdowns or give him things to work on to lessen them, but you can’t just expect him to mask all the time, then yell at him when he is overwhelmed.”
There was a pause where everyone was processing what Izuku just said. Izuku was trying to figure out if he should apologize to his teacher for being rude when Katsuki walked out of the kitchen and passed them shoulder tapping Izuku.
“I can take care of myself nerd.” He mumbled as he stormed Away.
Izuku smiled.
“He doesn’t like touch, but his shoulder checks are close to a hug for him.” Izuku said.
…
A few hours later after Katsuki went on his run, he helped Izuku clean the kitchen even when everyone insisted it was fine. Iida walked in and bowed down apologizing for his behavior. Katsuki just rolled his eyes and told him to get up.
All the students did their own research on Autism and how to help Katsuki. Iida put up a block list for every ones schedule to help the class be mindful of Katsukis and each others routines. The students started respecting things that they thought were trivial before like his spot in the dining room and not touching or taking things out of his cupboard.
Aizawa had a meeting with all the teachers and forced them to go through each students medical files. Turns out he really should have read them before. So much about all his students made sense now.
