'I’m the only one who can handle your kind of power'
The deep and wispy voice declared as flashes of Jasper could be seen making her way towards Lapis.
'It will be better this time, I’ve changed! You’ve changed me!'
“N-no...no...” Lapis muttered as she backs away from the desperate, power-hungry gem.
'Let’s be Malachite again'
The voice echoed loudly as the gem drops to her knees as if she were proposing to Lapis. The blue gem looked back at Jasper, terrified and speechless. Her heart rate starts to rise and her body becomes drenched in sweat.
Jaspers grip tightens on her hand as she starts to drag Lapis back into the ocean. This put her in shock.
“NO!” Lapis crises loudly as she bolts up from her bed.
Her breathing is rapid and her body is shaken as she looks around only to realize that it was all just a dream. Lapis calms herself with a deep breath and a sigh of relief. She looks to her left and saw that Peridot’s bed was empty, this made her feel down a bit.
“I guess she still hasn’t come home from work” Lapis mumbled to herself as she heard the barking of her beloved pet Pumpkin.
The adorable little fruit jumped on her bed and started to brush up against her. Hoping his loving affections would calm her down. Lapis smiles as she gave Pumpkin a gentle pet.
“Aw thank you Pumpkin...but I don’t think I can go back to sleep... I’m going to take a quick fly” Lapis decided as she got out of bed, opened the door to the balcony, sprouted her wings, and looked back to Pumpkin.
“Don’t worry I won’t be long” she assures the pouting fruit.
With that, she sprung into the air and started her flight. By this time it was around midnight and it was a full moon, the town was lit up by its amazing glow. It looked absolutely peaceful.
After about five minutes into her flight, she turned her head to the beach and noticed something odd. A shadow figure was standing near the water's edge. Curious and concerned Lapis decided to go and check it out. As she landed quietly onto the sandy beach Lapis could see that it was a human, however, this human looked unfamiliar.
The human had (y/h/c) hair that flowed through the nighttime breeze, and it was like watching delicate silk strands dance. Upon the body was a (y/c) short, chiffon dress that complemented the skin. The moonlight made the human's skin glow and the eyes sparkle like the stars above.
As Lapis got closer she could identify that the human was indeed a female and it was you. Taking a step into the water you let out a soft sigh, feeling the pleasure of the water on your feet. This made the blue gem very intrigued then the next second she felt scared for you. The water to Lapis wasn’t a safe place.
“Don’t” she muttered, reaching her arm out to you.
Once the gem realized she spoke Lapis covered her mouth to silence herself. However, the voice already caught your attention.
“Who’s there?!” You turned around quickly to see an all-blue person standing about a couple of feet away from you.
“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to startle you,” Lapis said a bit flustered.
“It’s okay but why did you say don’t?” You wondered curiously.
Lapis started to feel her pulse quickening and her nerves in over-drive as she was trying to think of an excuse. So far, nothing could really come to mind.
“I um...just wanted...” suddenly an idea popped in her head. “Wanted to make sure you didn’t step on any glass. There was a party here earlier and people can be crazy sometimes” Lapis nervously chuckles.
Thinking that her excuse worked Lapis felt a bit calmer. However, you chuckle back at her.
“I appreciate your concern but, I saw no glass on the beach. It looks pretty clean to me” you called her out on her bluff.
Your comment made Lapis jump a bit, making her realize that you were right. The beach did look very clean. The flustered blue gem felt a bit discouraged.
“Right...so if you don’t mind me asking...who are you and what are you doing out on the beach so late at night?” Lapis wondered.
“My name is (y/n) I’m from another town about 4 hours west of here. I’m out on the beach because it’s something I like to do when I can’t sleep. The water always puts me at peace” you explain happily to her.
“I see...what brings you here?”
“I’m here to compete in the surfing competition in two days. My friend competed here last year and told me of this amazing being who can move water to make the waves.” As you took a moment to look at the girl standing in front of you, it hit you. “I’m going to take a wild guess and say that being is you”
“Yes, that’s me. The name is Lapis Lazuli it’s a please to meet you (y/n)” she reaches her hand out to you to shake.
The moment your hands touch the feeling of your chest suddenly went tight and both of your faces were slightly burning. As your hands were connected, you both stare into each other’s eyes for a brief moment. It felt like it was a magnetic pull, drawing you both closer into a daze. All that just from a handshake and eye contact. What on earth was happening?
Once you had the chance to break eye contact, you gently pull your hand away. This awakened Lapis from the daze.
“It’s nice to meet you to Lapis...but...I think I should head back now. I feel okay to sleep now” you tell her while fidgeting with your fingers.
“Of course, where are you staying I could escort you back” Lapis offered.
“Just at the hotel down the street, it’s okay you don’t have to” you assure her.
“What if I want to, would you let me then?” Lapis wondered as this response seemed to have surprised you.
“Do you?” You raised an eyebrow as Lapis nodded.
“Yes. It would put my mind at ease knowing I got you back safely” Lapis tells you.
“Okay if you insist” you respond to her offer.
As you walk closer to her, Lapis suddenly picks you up bridal style and her wings appear. You felt a bit unsure at first but once you wrapped your arms around the confident blue gems neck. She sprung into the air and within the next moment, you were flying in her arms.
The view from the sky was breathtaking and the uneasy feeling you had faded away. Lapis held you close and tightly with full confidence. The flight was only two minutes but it certainly was an experience you would never forget.
Lapis landed in front of the hotel and gently places you back onto the ground. You adjust yourself before turning back to Lapis.
“Wow that was incredible!” You brightly smile.
“I’m glad you enjoyed it.” Lapis chuckles sweetly.
“I guess I will see you at the competition then.” You muttered.
“Yea I suppose so...or how about tomorrow?” Lapis questions you.
“Tomorrow? I don’t want to interrupt any plans you may have” you explain to her.
“I’m free as a bird...so you don’t need to worry. Is it settled then? Shall I see you tomorrow?” Lapis wondered in slight desperation.
“Yes Lapis, I shall see you tomorrow. Goodnight” you wave to wish her farewell, at least until the next morning.
Lapis waved back to you with a big smile on her face. Once you were out of view Lapis flew back into the air and headed back home. On her way she couldn’t seem to stop thinking about you. How gentle your voice was, how beautiful your eyes were, and how amazing your smile was. All of those things just made Lapis feel lighter than air and all giddy inside.
Landing on her balcony she walks back into her room to find Pumpkin barking with joy. Lapis kneeled down to pet her welcoming companion. Just at that moment, Peridot walks into the room.
“Oh hey, Lazuli! I’m surprised to find you awake” the short green gem greeted.
“I had a bad dream so I went for a flight” Lapis explains to her roommate.
“I see, would you like to talk about it?” Peridot offered kindly.
Lapis shook her head “Nah I will be okay if I talk about it, the dream may come back”
“Okay, I understand. If you need anything you know I’m here” Peridot assures her.
“Of course. Thank you Peridot” Lapis smiles sweetly at her. “I should head back to bed that flight really tired me out”
“I should head to bed too, I had a super long day at work” the green gem states as she shuffled over to her bed.
Lapis quickly followed to her bed “Goodnight Peridot, rest well”
“Goodnight Lazuli” Peridot smiles as she tucks herself into bed, quickly passing out.
Lapis laid her down upon her pillow as she slowly began to close her eyes. Once all she could see was an empty black canvas it soon started to shift into a beach scenery. The water was crystal clear and the sand was an amazing pale gold colour. Just as quickly as the scenery appeared, you did as well right before Lapis’s eyes.
You give her a tender smile as you walk over to her. Lapis could feel her heart race as you drew closer to her. Without the gem noticing you take Lapis’s hand and hold it tightly as you pulled her even more closely to you.
Lapis...I think you're pretty cute
You spoke to her in a soft, echoey tone that immediately hypnotized Lapis. The nervous but yet composed gem gently took your other hand and stared directly into your beautiful (y/e/c) eyes. Taking a deep breath Lapis leans in to kiss you. You took in her advances and leaned to kiss her back.
The very moment your lips touched it was warm, soft, and otherworldly. Waves crashed and the sound of a gentle breeze blew as the kiss was happening. After a couple of moments, you both break free from the kiss to catch a breather. You look at Lapis very lovingly, she returned your gaze.
I think your pretty cute too
Lapis uttered those words from her lips. You beam with happiness after her words reached your ears. Letting out a small giggle you wrap your arms around Lapis to pull her in as close as you physically can. The gem returned this by wrapping her arms around your waist.
The warmth of your embrace in the dream made Lapis smile in her sleep. Who knew that a flight to rid her mind of a nightmare would return with a beautiful dream. It was all thanks to you.
