“To understand what we’re about to tell you.” Roxy narrates as a view of the city of Edgewater comes into view
“There’s something you need to do.” Kaylee narrates
“You need to believe in the impossible. Can you do that?” Nick continues
“You see that fire? The smoke just there? And see that bike? That’s me.” Roxy continues as she races through the skies on a tornado under feet
“That silver one, that’s me.” Greg narrates as his silver wings whiz through the air
“And there’s me.” Shelby says as she comes ripping across rooftops bridging the gaps with smooth ice
“And that’s me.” Emma watches as she twists through the air
“But to start our story begins with a bang. To understand everything you must see how it all began.” Kevin narrates as the images begin rewinding a dark and stormy night
The storm forms over Amberwood Station as a bolt of lightning hits the causing a shockwave to roll out of the accelerator affecting the residents of the city of Edgewater, Indiana
At Nick’s house
Nick Boomer looks around the home gym before picking up a pair of dumbbells as the lights begin to flicker then a shock wave rolls across the room throwing Nick back fusing his cells with the metal of the dumbbells as well as the properties the dumbbells would give you, meaning the boy was now imbued with super strength before passing out on the bench press to be found by his father and transferred to Edgewater general
At Shelby’s dad lab
“Dad, I'm gonna go for a walk.” Shelby stands up and stretches her back feeling the pops as turns to walk away
“Don’t wander away too far. I’m almost done sweetheart.” Reggie says
“Okay dad.” Shelby walks away
In the liquid cooling array room
“Huh cool.” Shelby looks at the tanks of liquid nitrogen then the whole room begins to shake as the dark matter wave rolls through the room throwing Shelby forwards onto the tanks the dark matter fuses the liquid nitrogen with Shelby’s cells. “Oh, ow!” Shelby winces passing out on the tanks
“You ready to go, sweetheart?” Reggie asks walking into the room seeing his daughter lying on the tanks he immediately calls Edgewater general
At Kaylee’s house
Kaylee Klein watches the reams of code running down her monitor as she watches with glee as ‘access granted’ appears on the screen. “It’s a beautiful thing.” Kaylee begins to route through the files looking for the file on her father death when the dark matter wave rolls through her bedroom binding her and the code at a cellular level as well as the electrical energy from the computer tower as she’s thrown back onto her bed passing out to be found by her parents and transferred to Edgewater General
In Greg’s science lab
“Dash more osmium, a splash of sodium hydroxide. And then a pinch of manganic acid. And… dammit!” Greg sighs slamming his hands on the workbench when the reaction he was looking for didn’t happen then the lights flicker as the dark matter wave roll through the lab throwing up the chemical causing rapid expansion into a wing shape before it fuses itself with Greg’s shoulder blades before folding themselves into Greg’s body. “Ow.” Greg winces before passing out to be found the next morning by his father and transferred to Edgewater general
In Emma’s garage
“And you're spinning your new forty fives with all the misfits and the losers. Well you know you’re rock and rollers spinning to your… rock and… roll.” Emma belts as the entire room shook and the dark matter rolls through the room as it fuses with Emma’s belting vocal chords throwing her back against the brick wall as her first sign of acoustikinesis rips through the garage door like it’s tinfoil
“Oh, my God!” Betsy screams looking at her granddaughter lying under rubble with the torn tinfoil garage door as she takes out her phone and calls EMTs who take her to Edgewater general
At Kevin’s father’s lab
“Now watch this son.” Kevin’s father, Charlie, drops a piece of lithium into the water bath it bursts into flames before dancing across the surface of the water before it explodes with a small pop
“Awesome! And you’re telling me that all of the group one metals do that with water?” Kevin asks
“Yep and the reactions get more violent as we go down the metals.” Charlie explains
“So what’s next?” Kevin asks
“Potassium. Okay I gotta go make a call so you stay here and we’ll do it when I come back.” Charlie takes out his phone and turns out of the lab as the lights flicker and the energy wave rolls through the lab throwing the potassium out of its container onto Kevin burning as it reacts with the thrown water molecules in the air fusing the superheated hydrogen molecules with Kevin’s cells. “Oh, my God!” Kevin yells looking at his son lying his back
In Alyssa’s lab
Alyssa observes the stem cells through her microscope before injecting a second substance to see the reaction when the entire room begins to shake then every light bulb bursts in the room before the dark matter wave sweeps across the room throwing stem cells onto Alyssa fusing the two sets of cell, the stem and Alyssa’s. “Oh fucking hell.” Alyssa groans passing out on the cold concrete floor of her lab
In Roxy’s science lab
“Come on, nearly there.” Roxy focuses deep into the powerful electromagnet which is connected to a microsized tornado generator. “Now let’s see how you’re affected when I add water.” She smirks pushing her glasses up her nose pouring in water before resealing the generator now instead of a tornado the young ex Navy captain and brilliant physicist has a whirlpool then there’s a spark as the power goes out looking around Roxy sees a powerful shockwave of energy surging out across the city for a moment she watches in horror on hand still gripped around her project then it strikes like a bolt from the blue as the magnetism, charged water and the tornado generate fuse with her body down the cellular level then her body ragdolls through the air hitting the rear wall
“911 what’s your emergency?” The operator asks
“My daughter, she was struck by that energy wave. I need some help.” Archie says
“Okay is her heart still beating?” The operator asks
“Yeah her heart’s still beating.” Archie says
“Okay sir we’re dispatching EMT’s to you.” the operators says
At Edgewater General
“Think about every time your children enter cardiac arrest, the power fails, the computers crash, the whole hospital suffers a power failure, windows break, the doctors experience headaches, nose bleeds, objects get swept in spectral wind and things conspicuously burns or freezes? Your children are undergoing cellular change. My facility can help them. All you have to do is agree and I will do everything to save your children.” Veronica promises smile as each set of parents agrees to allow Veronica and the remaining staff at the Amberwood Station to care for their children
In the lab
Veronica Greene walks into see Trent observing five of the eight subjects in the lab the other three on monitors. “Hello ma’am, Number One’s body is exhibiting signs of organic steel and the reflex test shows a dramatic increase in strength. Number Two’s body is exhibiting extreme drops in body temperature with no negative side effects which would suggest Number Two is a cryokinetic. Number Three’s body appears to affect technology around her which leads to believe that she’s a technopath as well as an electrokinetic. Number Four appears to have grown wings registering a PH number not previously registered on the PH scale and made from a metal we’ve never seen on the periodic table. Number Five is contained due to her exhibiting signs of Acoustikinesis.” Trent confesses
“What? In English Trent for fuck sake.” Veronica chastises
“Number Five is creating soundwaves using her voice so we’ve had to contain her in a bell jar on oxygen so she doesn’t destroy the facility. Now Number Six is exhibiting signs opposite to Number Two.” Trent confesses
“What leads you to believe that?” Veronica asks
“Well we’ve had to contain him in the bunker because he keeps spontaneously bursting into flames.” Trent confesses
“What about Number Seven?” Veronica asks
“Number Seven is exhibiting signs of adaptive cells any time we try to give her an IV drip, injection or anything else to help her. Her body covers itself in this almost indestructible bug-like shell.” Trent confesses
“And Number Eight?” Veronica asks
“Number Eight is exhibiting signs of Aero, Hydro and Magnokinesis.” Trent answers
“English Trent.” Veronica chastises
“Number Eights cells was fused with the tornado genator she was working on which was connected to a field dampening electromagnet there additionally was water present at the time of the incident.” Trent explains
“When do you think they’ll wake up?” Veronica asks
“Their bodies are literally being rewritten right down to the cellular level. I don’t know when they’ll wake up. Or how many more you affected with your little experiment.” Trent confesses tapping the top of his clipboard and adjusting his specs
