Chapter 1: Chapter One
Chapter Text
Eret knew he was bleeding.
Well, of course he knew, it was spilling out of his hands and onto the soft white snow.
He didn’t know where he was going, he just knew that he had to escape those two. If he didn’t, he knew it would be the end of the road. He had to find someone though. Someone, anyone that didn’t hold a grudge against him. He could go to Tubbo? No, too many people and too far. Puffy? She was back at L’Manburg, and frankly, they didn’t want to go back to their death.
The reason they were running out in the open, multiple cuts and bruises varying from large to small covering their body as well as a large stab wound in their shoulder, and a medium one on their stomach, was because she had angered THEM. The duo that everyone feared. Well, for the most part. If one got hurt, if anyone said something wrong to him, the other would start a war. Or in this case, try to kill someone. The two being George, and his (basically) dog-on-a-leash “boyfriend” Dream.
You see, Eret was angry. Even though he still lived in the castle, built it with his own sweat, blood, and tears, Dream had decided that it was the one place to keep George “safe”. That George had to become king to be safe. Which, in Eret’s opinion, was a hunk load of bologna. Eret was always in danger because of her kingship, no matter who she helped, no matter what he did.
Eret had gotten into an argument with Dream, which probably wasn’t the best idea as the green god had them like a puppet on their strings, about George moving in and taking their crown. They even went so far as to (almost) hit George with a crossbow. But of course, Dream was quick. When was he ever slow? He had immediately been in George’s defense, slicing and punching away at Eret until they finally ran away. Not without a chase, of course. But she had managed to get away.
Now, back to the present. Eret was still running. They knew they needed to make a decision quickly, but everyone was too far away to get to them in time even if they ran, or in L’Manburg. That’s when they realized, that they were indeed kind of an idiot. They had a communicator for Ender’s sake. Coughing up droplets of blood once again onto the ground below, they reached a shaky hand down and pulled out their communicator. They were slowly losing vision, slowly losing consciousness. They randomly pressed one of the contacts, not knowing who it actually was. All they could make out a couple letters, but they knew it wasn’t one of the two chasing them.
She quickly typed out three simple letters, ‘SOS’ and her coordinates, before sending them to whoever she had pressed. Their consciousness was fading quickly, too weak to stand as they fell into the snow.
They felt cold.
Their ferrets, who had run after them but too slow to follow, had finally caught up. She could hear their small voices, most of them being worried, while the others seemed to be chanting a name happily. Maybe it was the person they had messaged?
That was their last thought, the last thing they saw being a flash of fur scattering around, and glittering gold.

Chapter Text
To say he was absolutely and utterly pissed was a complete understatement. Far from an understatement.
To find an SOS on his communicator with coordinates from his old (even thought the other didn’t remember) friend startled, and scared him extremely. It was not what he expected to find, when he had fondly picked up the communicator after seeing it was a message from Eret. He was right in the middle of adding modifications to his temple, to his home when he had received the message. His eyes widened in shock, the golden shark boy immediately had dropped whatever he was doing in that moment to go and find the other, to make sure that she was safe and out of harms way.
Now, here he was, cradling the other in his arms, as carefully as he could as he quickly ran back home. Some of the ferrets that had been beside Eret in the snow, pelts and fur now covered and the powdered white, when he arrived had now climbed onto Eret and himself, although careful not to hurt Eret even further. The ones that couldn’t climb on in time he was sure were following close behind, wanting to make sure that they were okay.
The damage to Eret’s body was a bit extreme. Even Foolish was a bit surprised, although grateful, that Eret had managed to survive the freezing cold with so much red spilling onto the blanket of softness. He could already have an idea of who had done this to her. No one exactly wanted to cause actual harm to the king. Well, except one person that wanted to cause harm to almost everyone. That almost everyone on this server had a mutual hate for.
He had repeatedly checked their pulse rate as he ran, although a bit hard to do as they were both shaking from the running, so he could not get a stable pulse. He could feel small breathes, though, which was as good as a sign he could get at the moment. Another sign that he assumed was good was the mumbling of the Ferrets around them, some of them saying ‘HELP THEM’, some of them saying ‘kill blob kill blob’, and others just saying random stuff like ‘YASSS FOOLISH’, or ‘lololol hurt not pog’.
He had no time to listen to them or think about their strange words when his home came into view. He sighed a small sigh of relief. Although, that relief was short lived as he knew the worst of it was not over. He still had to make sure they did not bleed out, and would be stitched up and bandaged properly. After all of his many years, nether, even centuries of experience had definitely helped him with healing up wounds. He hoped it would come in handy now.
He immediately placed Eret on a nearby bed once he got inside, the ferrets that had been on the two hoping off and starting to scatter around the bedroom. He then started to search through every one of his chests and barrels to find bandages and healing potions. He knew the healing potions would not heal the other straight away, but it would definitely help with the healing process. He placed the potions as well as the bandages on a nearby table, immediately getting to work.
“Sorry Eret..” Foolish had mumbled when he cut open their shirt, grimacing at how many bruises and cuts had lined their torso. He propped Eret up on pillows so the other would be sitting up. He then corked open the healing potion, holding Eret’s head up as he forced the pink liquid down the others throat. He knew it would probably hurt their throat a bit when they woke up, but it would be a small price to pay. Once he was done with it, he threw the bottle to the corner of the room and got to the stitching. It took some concentration, and yet another sign Eret was still alive being as they were warm, and flinched a couple of times during the stitching process. His eyes widened as he realized and cursed. ‘Shit, I hadn’t checked for broken bones..’ he had hoped that the healing potion would do its work, as he really could not do anything for broken bones besides potions.
Foolish had made sure, double checked multiple times, that the stitches were even and wouldn’t get infected before bandaging up his broken, bloodied, and bruised torso. While he was cleaning up, and washing off himself and Eret, ferrets upon ferrets had started to gather into the temple, primarily the room Eret was in. Like the ones that had hopped off them when they arrived, some of them were still scattering around, but most of them were sitting still. Patient, for their king to awake, just like the God of Life. Some of the Ferrets were mumbling ‘FOOLISH POG’ or ‘Eret safe’, while others continued to mumble random nonsense.
Then, the totem god spoke quietly. “Please my old friend, wake up soon..” he whispered, hands clenched angrily by his sides as he stood next to their sleeping body.
The Totem God, the God of Life himself was angry. How dare, HOW DARE someone hurt his friend?? Someone who he had cared for deeply, someone who he would risk his life for over and over again. Even though they didn’t have their memories, Foolish had his own. His own memories of the two that went back centuries. How they saved lives, and how they ended them. The Wither Cult. How they laughed and had fun together. And he kept these memories close to his mind and his heart.
So yeah, to say that Foolish was pissed was a complete understatement. He would strike down anything for his old friend, even the god of this world.

Chapter Text
Eret gasped as they sat up, their hand immediately going to their side in clutch of their sword, only to realize in a panic that it wasn’t there.
They didn’t really remember what happened, except from the fact that they were running from Dream and the “new king” in the freezing cold snow. Their panic decreased a bit as they saw their ferrets, or their business as ferrets are called in a group, scattering around them. Some of them were asleep, but most of them were scattering around in happiness as they whisper-yelled ‘ERET AWAKE POG’ or ‘Eret is ok! :DD’, or at least something along the the lines of that. They had to have been somewhere safe, if where they were at had let their little vermin’s in as well.
The second thing they had noticed was the extreme pain they had been when they sat up. They should not have sat up that quickly. They looked down to see they were bandaged at the torso. Their breath hitched as they realized someone might have seen the scars, the scars that littered their body from war, as well as.. No, they couldn’t have seen. Most of the badly damaging ones had been on their back, or on their legs. Once that panic had settled down, they looked at how well the person had bandaged them. They must have had experience, whoever they were. She could tell just by the feel that she had been stitched up, and bandaged neatly. Some potion also must have been put on them, as they could still feel a slight burn, or was that a tingle? They didn’t know for sure. Maybe both.
They then noticed the thing they were currently resting in was not a wood home, nor were they in some sort of brick building like their castle was. No, this place was made of sand. Sand, sandstone, sand stairs, you name it, it was probably built into this structure. It was honestly an impressive build, since the inside of it looked like an actual home and not the inside of a sand temple you’d find in a desert biome. No one was around that they could see, but they could hear some noises coming from the outside.
Speaking of seeing, that was yet another thing that they had noticed as they had fully woken up. Their glasses. Her glasses, the things that hid her eyes, that people had feared about him, were missing. For what seemed the hundredth time that minute, panicked seeped through them. The stranger might have seen their eyes. But they don’t know who the stranger was yet. Maybe it was someone who didn’t fear them, didn’t resent how hideous their eyes were. They hoped to ender it was that someone.
By now, it seems that all of their ferrets had stirred awake, now making a loud clatter out of all the things in the room. Their blank eyes widened in fear, hoping the stranger had not heard. They tried to say something to their ferrets, their chat, to tell them to keep quiet. But, as they tried to let out a warning, they couldn’t. Their throat felt dry, numb even. Every time he tried to speak it just felt like a axe being shoved into their throat. They winced in pain, both from their old wounds, and from how badly it hurt to speak a word.
She barely heard it, but she still heard it. The noise, the person that was outside had stopped. ‘Shit shit shit-‘ they had thought. The ferrets had definitely alerted the one outside that Eret was now awake. But, their ferrets. Their ferrets seemed happy as she heard footsteps approach the door. She tried to listen, tried to get a name, but they were all whispering at once, so softly she could not hear. But, one had spoken louder than the rest. ‘Foolish back pog!’ It had yelled.
That’s when the door opened, and Eret came face to face with green and glittering emerald eyes, with a shark hood placed neatly atop his head. She tried to whisper out a weak ‘Foolish’, but all that came out was a squeaking sound immediately followed by coughing. “Eret, you’re awake!” He had said. Foolish wanted to rush to hug the other right then and there, but he knew first he had to take care of them. “Here, don’t strain yourself, you must be in pain.” He mumbled, moving over to the cabinets and opening them quickly, snatching out both two water bottles and a healing potion from inside their wooden chamber. Once Foolish had gone close enough, Eret immediately grabbed one of the water bottles, miraculously corking it open, and chugged all of the water from inside the glass container. From beside them, Foolish let out a fond laugh. “I knew you’ve must have been thirsty..” as well as mumbling something out they couldn’t quite catch. Once they had saw it was Foolish that had entered the door, they had no care at all about their sunglasses or not.
Once they had finished both water bottles, as well as the healing potion, they felt a tad bit better from when they first woke up. They looked to Foolish, who was now playing with ferrets that had climbed onto the golden man. “Thank.. Thank y.. Thank” “No no, it’s okay Eret. You have no need to thank me, old friend. Think of it as repayment, from that time you had saved me from a horde of Wither Cult members!” Eret’s breathe hitched at the mention. They still had no idea who, or what the Wither cult even was. They wanted to remember, wanted to go their apparent “old friend” and reminisce about all the fun times they had together. But they just couldn’t. Couldn’t remember. They didn’t know they had been staring for minutes, but thankfully Foolish responded to their confused face, his own still full of fondness, but also sadness and pain. “Don’t worry about it.. I’m sure one day we can get your memory back.” He smiled at them, which only warranted a smile back from the dethroned king.
“How.. How l-“ “How long have you been here?” He responded, the one on the bed thankful for the other finishing her sentence. They nodded, looking towards the other. Foolish sighed, looking away a bit nervously. “Well.. Eret, you’ve been out for over two weeks..” their eyes widened in absolute astonishment.
They had been asleep, knocked out in bed for two whole weeks..?

Chapter Text
God, Sapnap was so fucking tired. He couldn’t believe Dream was making him do this bullshit.
He was out in the freezing cold, snow crunching below his boots. The first part of why he didn’t like this. He was nether-born, a blaze hybrid, who was more accustomed to the fire and heat of the lava of the nether. Not of this land that made him go all numb. He liked warmth, big fluffy blankets and staying on the couch by the fireplace. At least he could conjure up his own fire, or he would surely freeze to death out here.
At times, the ravenette was glad to be born with the fire powers of a blaze. And at other times.. He wish he wasn’t born with these abilities. Like when he would get mad, and his body would go ablaze with fire. How when he got really excited about things, how his fingertips would drip sparks. When he cried, how he could hug no one while he did, because his eyes would drip molten lava. ’Look at you, you pathetic-‘ Sapnap shook the words from the past out of his head.
The second part of all this that he did not like was hunting down the former king. Eret. Two weeks after Eret had run away from being beaten to death by the green god, Dream had sent Sapnap to go look for her. For what reason, Sapnap does not know. In Sapnap’s own opinion, he liked Eret! The guy didn’t bother him and nether, the guy actually gave a shit about him. When Dream had hurt him, slapped him or spit some of his manipulative bullshit, he somehow always came back to Eret. The king was one of the only other people who had been through Dream’s manipulation.
Now, Sapnap wasn’t a fucking idiot. He knew Dream was being manipulative. But he didn’t want to believe it. He didn’t want to believe that his old, childhood friend had become this monster. He didn’t want to even think that his best friend, who he had hung around and been comforted by for years, had been hurting fucking children. He couldn’t find it in his heart to believe it. But he knew it was happening. He wanted it to stop.
The third thing he didn’t like about tracking down one of his old friends was that there was a lot of blood. Like, tons of it covering the bleak white. Sapnap didn’t even know if Eret was alive by how much scarlet was covering the ground. Sapnap was scared. Scared of finding the old kings body, devoid of color with his crown beside him and his ferrets crying and whimpering out in anguish as they mourned their fallen king.
Sapnap had quickly shook the thought from his head.
He was still following the blood. There had been a large amount in a particular spot he had passed, where Eret must’ve passed out at some point, where there had been a river of blood covering the ground. Past that point, even though it was small droplets of blood. They were far apart from each other, which means that either Eret had managed to miraculously stitch or cauterize the wound up, or that someone had been carrying them somewhere. Sapnap had prayed for both options, as both could have really good or really bad outcomes.
At that moment, Sapnap’s “chat” had decided to appear. He never knew when they would appear, but they always somehow where there in situations. Small ash particles had started to rain down around him, as well as small flickers of flames. He found it somewhat comforting, as he could now smell the faint smell of burning wood. His chat were whispering to him quietly. Some of them were just being extremely weird, but he could hear the faint amount being helpful. ’Foolish, Foolish helped him’, ’Sand dunes sand castle pog pogchamp, his chat were whispering to him.
Ah, so that’s where Eret was.
Now of course, as Sapnap had thought earlier, he wasn’t a fucking idiot. He wasn’t gonna bring Eret back. Even if it meant one of his lives, he would protect Eret. At least one of them could get away. One of them could get away from the manipulation and torture. But at the same time, he wanted to make sure Eret was okay. But, knowing who Foolish was and how much he cared for her, Sapnap knew that Eret must be okay.
So, Sapnap went on his way. At least at Foolish’s place he could get out of this damn cold.
As the blaze hybrid walked, he talked among his chat. They had mostly talked about random things. Things like how people on the SMP were doing, how he was doing (at that question, he had lied, saying he was alright). He had heard that some of his chat had been with Eret that night. The small ashes been unnoticeable amongst the chaos that was going on that night.
It was only about a possible hour and a half walk that the snow had started to clear up, and he had now felt instead the crunch of snow beneath his feet, felt the pour of sand on his shoes. He had finally made it to Foolish’s temple. At the sight of the large structure, Sapnap had burst into a sprint, his chat practically being left in the dust. Or in this case, sand.
His own mind was screaming at him, screaming at him to make sure Eret was okay, that Eret hadn’t died and Sapnap could go back to Dream and lie to him about how he had found Eret dead at Foolish’s temple. About how Eret had left life and was being buried by the God of Life. How Eret could finally escape this absolute hell of a Earth.
He ran up the long ass stairs, ignoring how his limbs were now sparking. Fire crackling at his own skin at how excited he was getting. Small flames rising from the mans hair and arms.
He finally got to the top, nearly slamming into the large doors of the temple, stopping himself before he could.
He took a couple deep breathes to stable himself,
and he knocked.
Notes:
If you didn’t get why Sapnap was in the chapter, look at the tags a g a i n. I just want Sapnap and Eret to be happy okay. Bc in technicality, they were two of the first people to be manipulated by Dream. :(
