when the moon

stood high

your kisses always were

so bright

like the turquoise stars in

the night. 

we were not

meant to share

love.

"I told the stars about you",

Chenle whispered into

Jisung's ear,

"when no one was looking."

Chenle giggled, a sad

hiccup at last, turquoise tears

leaving his eyes in

a hurry for no one to

be seen.

the tips of Jisung’s

fingers brushed gently over

Chenle's rosen cheekbones, setting

them aflame just

anew.

gentleness that could only

ever be seen in the

shadows.

"I sang a song about you",

Chenle whispered into

Jisung’s ear,

"when no one was listening."

Chenle smiled brightly, a

turquoise tear leaving the

corner of his eye so

small it was meant to

be overlooked.

Jisung’s swollen lips brushed over

Chenle's forehead in a

soft motion, loosening the

fastened frown.

gentleness that could only

ever be seen in a

dark alley.

"I made a drawing of you",

Chenle whispered into

Jisung’s ear,

"when no one was paying attention."

the corner of Chenle's eyes

crinkled, a sob stumbling over

his lips so quietly it

could not be heard.

Jisung cupped Chenle's face in

a loving manner, thumbs brushing over

his turquoise lips.

gentleness that could only

ever be seen in a

locked room.

"I thought of you",

Jisung whispered into Chenle's ear,

"when no one was bothering me."

Jisung's fingers tangled into

Chenle's turquoise hair, brushing over

it softly, a sad smile

adorning his face.

Chenle's lips brushed over

Jisung’s gently, sweeping away the

sad smile for no one to

be seen.

gentleness that could only

ever be seen in the

deepest parts of the woods.

"I wrote a story about you",

Jisung whispered into

Chenle's ear,

"when no one was talking to me."

Jisung’s embrace around Chenle

fastened, a soft kiss on the

back of his neck drowning

out the agony hiding inside

Jisung’s words.

a silent laugh left Chenle's 

turquoise lips in

happiness, only for Jisung to

hear.

gentleness that could only

ever be seen in the

middle of the quietest night.

"I spoke a poem about you",

Jisung whispered into

Chenle's ear,

"when no one was understanding."

Jisung’s lips followed the

turquoise contours of

Chenle's face, letting giggles die on

his lips in a

lovely manner.

Chenle mumbled sweet nothings into

Jisung’s ear, so quiet he could

barely hear.

gentleness that could only

ever be seen on

top of the highest building.

"I told my loved ones about you",

Chenle whispered into

Jisung’s ear,

"when I thought everyone was sleeping."

turquoise tears streamed down

Chenle's face as Jisung cradled his

swollen cheeks, kissing

every scratch he could

find littered over Chenle's

trembling body.

turquoise tears left

Chenle's eyes, no longer silent but

also for no one to hear

but only Jisung.

shaking fingers tangled into

Jisung’s hair as Chenle brushed over

it gently.

sobs died on

Jisung’s lips, halfway out into

the world.

it was gentleness that was only

ever able to be seen in the

darkest shadows, in an alley forlorn,

in a locked room or

inside the woods,

only at night and

on top of the highest building.

gentleness that was

never meant to

be seen.

"you are like my prince and

I am like your knight",

Jisung said, lips spreading wide in

a grin so heartwarming, tears

tumbling down his cheeks

quietly.

"then you are my favourite knight",

Chenle whispered,

heart trembling.

"it is no more than a journey for

me to get stronger",

Jisung followed.

"so you can protect me from

all the menacing shadows hovering

over me",

Chenle spoke the last words.

when the sun set, the

moon taking its place on the

sky amidst all the

turquoise stars,

two lovers were

far apart but beside each other

just in equal parts.
