No, shhh Now, It’s Sleep Time

Summary:

Todoroki and Midoriya doing Aizawa’s parenting assignment.

Work Text:

The second that Aizawa pulled the first doll from the box, Todoroki was terrified. Their classmates were always pointing out how much he didn’t understand about normal childhoods, and he knew he had no idea how to care for a baby, fake or otherwise. His boyfriend though...Midoriya lit up when he realized what the assignment was. And why wouldn’t he? Izuku loved spending his days off visiting Eri, even two years after he saved her. And Shoto loved going with him, he learned how to make her laugh and smile, but she wasn’t exactly a baby. So he asked Momo for advice. Given, being an only child and not being needed to babysit by her parents’s friends, the most she could tell him was to always check the diaper and try to play with it or feed it if it cried.

“I think we should her after your mom!” Todoroki was shocked out his own thoughts by Midoriya’s chipper voice. “I know how much you care about her and everything, but if you don’t want to we can think of something else!” And just like Izuku was losing himself to mumbling.

“Hey.” Shoto waited until he had his attention, “That’s a very nice thought. Or we could name...her after your mom.”

“We could put them together?” Izuku offered, “Rinko? Inkei? Reiko?”

“Reiko sounds very lovely, Izu.” Shoto gave him a smile, even after three years of friendship and being together for two of them, it wasn’t much more than the quirk of his lips, but it spoke volumes to the boy who grinned so wide it was a surprise his face didn’t split.

“Reiko it is! Come on, the bell’s about to ring and we should see who room has the crib.”

It was Todoroki’s room. With a note from Aizawa that he didn’t want so many All Mights watching the two of them share a room. Izuku flushed, but Shoto couldn’t stop laughing for a solid ten minutes.

When it was time to go bed that bed, Todoroki came back from the shower to hear Midoriya singing a soft lullaby to their doll, and he felt his heart squeeze with affection. He quietly walked over, wrapping his arms around his boyfriend, who squeaked before continuing his song. Shoto just listened, swaying Izuku and the doll back and forth. When he finished, the dual boy took the baby, laying it down and gently wrestling the diaper off. The greenette giggled, helping him through the steps, until they could swaddle the baby in a blanket. “Izu?” Shoto called quietly as they laid down.

“Hmm?”

The dual boy was as blunt as usual, “You are gonna make a really good dad one day.”

“I mean, I hope you’ll be there with me.” The smaller boy froze when he realized what he said, face fuming as he turned red, “I mean- not to assume- I don’t mean-“

“I hope I’m there, as well.” Shoto pressed a kiss to his forehead, cuddling up to sleep even as Izuku kept muttering.

“Sho, you can’t just say things like that...”

“No, shhh now, It’s sleep time.”

The next day, Todoroki woke up before Midoriya, reenacting the steps his boyfriend had showed him to change the doll before bundling a blanket around it and heading to the kitchen with it to get a bottle. “Hello Ochaco. Hello Tsu.”

“Todoroki!” The anti gravity Quirk holder called, “On daddy duty?”

He nodded, “Figured I would let Izu kept a bit more sleep before he has to wake up for class.” Tsu held her hands out for the doll, nodding to the bottle he needed to make, and he passed her over gratefully. “Izu named the baby. I do not know if anyone else is doing that.”

Tsu smirked, “Ocha did that. She named it after you, Tenya, and Izuku.” Shoto glanced over with a raised eyebrow as Ochaco waved her hands saying she didn’t. Tsu just smirked more, “She named it Shenyizu.”

Shoto blinked, “Is that even a name?”

Tsu shrugged, handing the doll back over to bed fed, “It is now.” They shared a smile before Todoroki headed back toward the elevator.

When their hero practicals class rolled around, Todoroki offered to hold onto the baby, until he overheard Bakugou explaining why he’d attached the baby to his back instead of having his boyfriend hold it. No matter which side of him the baby went on, his Quirk would harm it. So instead he helped Izuku strap the baby to his back, while the greenette laughed that it would be like having Eri on his back while he fought Overhaul.

“You don’t have Eri’s Rewind this time.” Shoto reminded him, “Please be careful not to injure yourself.”

“I’ve gotten so much better at that over the years!” The other boy protested as they moved to watch with the others. They shared a small chuckle when Bakugou called Kirishima the father of his child.

They won their match almost immediately, but still had to wait until the timer ran out. Midoriya had been too fast for the the opponents to catch before Todoroki froze them in place. Aizawa just kind of sighed, declaring that team the one that would go against Ashido and Hatsume.

On the last day, when they handed the dolls back in, Todoroki let out a deep breath, sagging a bit in relief. “You didn’t like it, Sho?”

Shoto turned to meet his boyfriend’s eye, “I was fucking terrified.”

“Language!” Iida called out to him, and Shoto rolled his dual colored eyes.

Todoroki turned back to Midoriya, “I was afraid I would screw this up and you would not....like me anymore.”

Izuku laughed, brightly and joyful, not to shame his boyfriend, but because he truly believed that if his boyfriend didn’t see how amazing he was, it was funny how blind he was. So he told him as much.

Aizawa groaned before the taller boy could do anything more than blush, “Move to your seats boys. Mineta, I- just how? How did this happen?” Aizawa sighed, rubbing a hand over his face as he just dumped the short boy’s doll in the trash.

“It was hard to do this alone! That’s why people don’t do it!”

Midoriya raised his hand, brows furrowed as he though about his own childhood, “I was raised by a single mom.”

Mineta groaned, “But it’s a chick’s job to raise kids!”

Ojiro raised an eyebrow, his tail twitching as he took offense, “I was raised by a single father.”

Todoroki agreed, “So was I. Given my father did a shit job, but Ojiro turned out perfectly fine.”

The tailed boy contemplated that before responding, “Thank you...I think.”

Aizawa just sighed again, “Todoroki, some day we’re going to have to sit down and talk about your insane family history, but as for now, the assignment is finished. I’ll listen to the recordings tonight.” Shoto was briefly distracted as Izuku turned around and shot him a big smile, and he lost his mind in a spiral of how much he loved the green haired nerd.
