Chapter Text
Proof that guardians can respawn
<The guardians are in Warspite’s room, along with the Grand Old Lady herself. U-73 and Cavalla are helping Warspite replace one of her lightbulbs, while U-101 and Akashi watch on in amusement.>
Warspite: Are you sure this is safe? I can get you a ladder if you want.
U-73: *Trying to replace a lightbulb while sitting on Cavalla’s shoulders* Don’t worry! I’ve done this many times.
Warspite: You’re gonna die like that!
Akashi: If she dies, she’ll come back!
<Just as the green-haired girl said that, Cavalla loses her balance and falls over with U-73 still on her shoulders.>
U-73: Woah!
<The Ironblood guardian lands on the floor headfirst, basically breaking her neck in the process. Warspite looks at the lifeless girl in horror, tears starting to form in her eyes.>
Warspite: Is...is she dead?!
Akashi: Eh, just give her a few seconds.
<True to Akashi’s word, U-73’s ghost emerges out of nowhere and opens up its shell. Warspite watches as it funnels some sort of energy into U-73’s body before disappearing. As soon as the Ghost vanishes, U-73 reawakens and picks herself off of the floor.>
U-73: Yeah, maybe a ladder might be better…
<As Cavalla goes to get a ladder from the storage room, Warspite sits herself down on a nearby chair with a thousand-yard stare on her face.>
Warspite: What the fuck…
Out hunting
<While U-101, Akashi and Cavalla are helping out in the infirmary back at base, U-73 and I-19 have taken advantage of their free time and went out to hunt.>
I-19: So, what are we doing again?
U-73, hiding in a bush: We’re hunting deer, so be quiet.
<I-19 nods and crouches down next to U-73. A few hours go by, but there is still no sign of any deer. Her attention is then drawn to a crunching sound next to her left. She looks over to see…>
U-73: Hey! That was mine!
I-19, eating a Snickers bar: *Muffled* I was hungry…
U-73: *Sigh* Well, at least I have more back in my dorm room…
<Another hour passes, when the two hear the sound of rustling. U-73 sees some movement, and peeks her head out of the bush. Sure enough, it was a pair of female White-tailed Deer, completely oblivious to the two guardians.>
U-73: The left one is mine, you take the one on the right.
I-19: Got it.
<Both girls raised their rifles, aiming for the deers’ hearts. While U-73 was using her signature rifle, Dead Man’s Tale, I-19 didn’t have such a weapon. As a result, the catgirl was using a Winchester Model 70 she borrowed from Montpelier.>
U-73: Three...two...one…
U-73: Fire!
<On cue, both girls pulled the trigger, sending a bullet into each deer. The projectiles sank into the flesh of the animal and ripped through its heart, felling it instantly. Once the second deer fell over dead, U-73 high-fived her partner, before emerging from the bush to retrieve her quarry.>
I-19: What do we do with it now?
U-73: We could give it to the cooking staff, I’m sure some of the girls would love venison.
<Both girls then picked up one deer each and headed back. Another successful hunt!>
