Chapter Text

“You can stream, and I’ll join I’m just a bit out of it today” Tubbo says weakly.

“You sound tired Tubbo you should take a nap or something, I can stream later, really it’s ok” Ranboo insists.

“Can you turn your face on I miss looking at it” Tubbo says tiredly.

Ranboo turns his cam on and smiles at him, “Ok you turn on yours now”.

Tubbo yawns then turns his cam on and proves Ranboo’s point even further.

Ranboo sighs, “Tubbo you look like you’re going to pass out any second now, please go lie down on your bed”.

Tubbo grimaces as he sees his reflection on his phone screen.

His eyes were red-rimmed and bloodshot with dark circles and bags underneath, his lips were cracked as well probably due to the fact that he hadn’t had water since yesterday.

Tubbo yawns again “I’m just a bit tired and if I fall asleep now, I’ll wake up and you’ll be gone, then it’ll be like 11 am and I’ll mess up my sleep and upload schedule and-”

Ranboo cuts him off mid-sentence, “Tubbo look at me I was going to stay on this discord call anyway but I’m definitely staying if it means you’ll sleep”.

Tubbo props his head up with his hand “no, it’s ok I’ll just continue talking to Ranboo my beloved”.

Ranboo sighs deeply. “Toby Smith, please go over to your bed and lie down.”

Tubbo whispers blearily “fine…”

“Ok Tubbo can you pick up your phone and take it over to your bed.”

“Ok”, Tubbo picks up his phone and places it on his bedside table, propping it up then proceeds to flop onto his bed face-first.

“Can you get under the covers now?” Ranboo whispers.

Tubbo moves so his quilt is on top of him, then faces the camera with his face smushed into his pillow.

“What do you normally do now?” Ranboo asks.

“I close my eyes and wait for sleep to come and hopefully I don’t get any nightmares.”

“Well when I was younger, and I couldn’t sleep my mum used to sing to me so would you like that Tubbo?”

“Yes please, any song” Tubbo murmurs into his pillow.

“Ok get all tucked in”, Ranboo clears his throat then starts.

“If I could begin to be half of what you think of me, I could do about anything I could even learn how to love”?

Ranboo sees Tubbo’s eyelids drooping as he yawns again and smiles softly.

Tubbo blinks to stay awake is he starts the chorus.

“I always thought that might be bad now I’m sure that it's true, 'cause I think you're so good and I’m nothing like you, look at you go, I just adore you, I wish that I knew, what makes you think I'm so special”.

By the end of the song Tubbo had fallen asleep and was now breathing slowly, hugging the bee plushie Ranboo had got for him.

 After he had made sure that Tubbo was asleep Ranboo DM’d Lani on Discord

 “Hey, thinking of doing a meet up with Tubbo, when is the next time you’re free?”

“I'll have to check with my parents but he's free in like a week or is that too early for you?”

“That's perfect actually what did your parents say.”

“They said yeah, wait does he know about this or are you going to surprise him?”

 “it’s going to surprise him.”

“OK well how about Monday?”

“Sounds good, see you then?”

“Yeah, bye”

“bye”

Ranboo closes Discord in looks over at Tubbo,” God I can't wait to come over there end kiss that small face of yours.”

 Ranboo sighs and checks his watch ‘2 PM’

“2 PM ?! Dang, I better go eat, Damn Tubbo you’ve been asleep for 3 hours already” Ranboo whispers.

He looks up and Tubbo shifts in his sleep moving onto his back, Ranboo mutes himself as he goes to the kitchen and grab some food.

After finding some chips and a water bottle he heads back to his room.

He powers up his laptop as he opens up his chips just as he goes to eat one, Tubbo’s face lights up.

Ranboo looks up confused and sees that his cat has come in and sat on his desk lamp switch , turning it on.

Tubbo groans and covers his eyes, “The hell Rocky- what do you want? Go bother Lani, I’m tired”.

Ranboo un-mutes himself “Hi Toby”.

Tubbo sleepily squints at his screen, “Oh hi Mark”. (I had to I'm sorry)

Ranboo smiles, “How was your nap?”

“Myeh, my mouth’s dry and my back hurts, existence is pain” Tubbo says, half asleep.

“Do you wanna go back to sleep or was the 3 hrs enough?”

After Tubbo tries and fails to turn off the lamp he yanks it out wall by the cord as fast as possible.

“Tubbo?”

Tubbo adjusts his pillow and lays his head down again.

“Night Toby” Ranboo says as Tubbo closes his eyes again.

He hears a quiet “Night sexy, love you” and he laughs to himself.

“Love you too Toby” he says blowing a kiss through the camera screen.

He decides to edit of his YouTube videos will he waits.

Chapter Text

Ranboo edits for 2 more hours then just as he’s about to start his 3rd.

“Mark come down here for a sec, hon” His mum shouts from downstairs.

He glances at Tubbo’s sleeping body through his screen and un-mutes.

“I’ll be right okay; my parents want me for something” He whispers then mutes himself again.

Walking down the stairs he hears hushed whispers from behind the kitchen door.

Ranboo nudges the door open and clears his throat loudly.

“Mark sweetie-” Cali says, fake smiling “-Son” Noah says bored.

Ranboo chooses to address them as he addressed him.

“Mum- “he glances at her, smiling sarcastically “-Father” he says blankly. “-You called?”

“Mac and Cheese in the microwave” Cali says, motioning towards it.

Ranboo nods, open and shutting the microwave.

Carrying it one handed he sees his dad side-eyeing him in the corner of his eye.

Ranboo looks up “Anything other than dinner you want to talk about? -“ His Parents nod yes, “-Otherwise I kind of left in the middle of something”.

Cali sighs and pats the seat next to her, Ranboo sits but opts for the seat across from them.

He looks between his parents, casting them a worried look, “Everything alright ?”.

Noah starts “We’re just worried about you that’s all-” Ranboo audibly groans, and Cali interrupts him “-Your dad’s right you’re constantly on your phone, or your PC staying up ‘till the ass-crack of the morning editing or whatever- “Ranboo rolls his eyes at her.

Noah re-interrupts, “- Look when was the last time you had more than 4 hours sleep, or ate some real food?”

Ranboo opens his mouth to say something but gets cut off with an unfortunately timed yawn.

“What did you eat today not counting the Mac and Cheese that you haven’t touched yet?”

Ranboo sinks lower into his chair, and grumbles.

“Mark?”

Ranboo gets a sudden burst of confidence, “Look did you invite me down her just to patronize me or can I go now, I have stuff to do ?”

Cali eyes widen at the sudden change of emotion as she stutters to explain.

“Well- we, uh… wondered how Toby was going, you’ve been talking to him the whole day just about?”.

Ranboo’s cheeks colour as he remembers their conversation before.

He zones out thinking about him.

“Night sexy, love you.”

“Love you too.”

Then remembers the early-morning Discord DMs with Lani.

“Oh, uhm he’s going well, how- what would you think of me going to the UK?” Specifically London.

Noah scrunches his eyebrows in confusion. “What does this have to do with Toby?”

Ranboo sighs “Just- what do you think of it, would you like mind if I went there in like 1 week”.

“We don’t have anything against the UK but are we talking about you flying there, and in 1 week ?!” Cali says confused.

“Well Toby’s sister and I have organized for me to go to the UK in like 1 weeks’ time to surprise Toby-” His parents lock eyes with each other “I would be flying there and back alone, and we have everything sorted except how long I’m staying, so far it’s 3 weeks but It might be more when I get there.”

“How long have you been planning this and when were we going to hear about this? So far it’s a definite no” Noah says slightly frustrated.

“Well we only thought about this like 3 days ago, why wouldn’t you be ok with it?” Ranboo says anxiously.

“Why the sudden urge to meet Toby huh , why now, has something happened?” Cali pipes up, avoiding the question.

“It’s school holidays next week, don’t you want to hang out with your friends here?”

Ranboo looks at her like she’s grown a third eye, “Mum I don’t have any friends here, Toby is my friend” not to sure about that one “- as well as Tommy, Wilbur, George, Phil, Jack they ALL live in the UK, mum please, I really want to go, I’ve been friends with Toby for almost a year now and we haven’t met IRL yet, please I'll pay for the plane tickets, I’ll study harder, I’ll do almost anything, just PLEASE let me go” Ranboo says pleadingly.

Chapter 3: I love it when you call my name

Cali sighs and looks at Noah for reassurance, “Mark, I think it would be wise to stay home for the holidays, But, if your grades are fine and you’re paying for the tickets AND you understand the responsibility of flying alone to a country you’ve never been to before, then go for it” Noah says shrugging.

“Hang on, we need to see what your mum thinks about this still” Noah says seeing Ranboo about burst from joy.

“Well… you are 17, and you do have above average grades… and you are very responsible on public transport” Ranboo waits for her to get to the point, “AND you are going to see Toby, then it’s a yes from me, but we need more details”.

Ranboo’s eyes widen in shock, “YES, yes, yes, I understand the risk AND I can pay for the plane tickets I have enough money, thank you, THANK YOU, THANK YOU”.

“Ok then is there anything we should know, when are you leaving, when you do you plan on packing?” Cali asks.

“Well Lani and I agreed on next Monday, so I’ll pack in like 3 days, sound good?” Ranboo says excited.

His parents nod, “Ok well I’m just gonna-” he motions upstairs.

Picking up his mac and cheese, he skips up the stairs two at a time, ready to break the news to Lani.

He places his mac and cheese on his desk.

Glancing at his PC he sees that Tubbo is still asleep, he smiles and opens Discord again to DM Lani.

‘Hey, just got the OK from my parents for the meetup’

‘Epic ! Our parents said it’s ok as well, I just don’t know how I’m gonna keep this a secret for 5 days’

‘I dunno either, how will you get the guest room ready without Tubbo getting sus ?’

‘We’ll think of something for sure tho.’

‘Cool :)))’

Ranboo checks the time and realizes that been talking to Lani for almost an hour.

‘Wow we’ve been talking for almost an hour’

‘What really ?? It feels like it’s only been 15 mins’

‘I guess time flies when you’re talking with a friend’

‘Yeah, I’ve only known you for like a week but you’re already considered a friend to me’

‘Aww thanks you too’

‘Hey it was nice talking to you but I’m gonna continue my editing now’

About 15 minutes later he realizes that it’s 7 pm.

He considers waking him up, but when he sees Tubbo’s peaceful face, lightly snoring, he decides against it.

l’ll let him sleep but I just have a few questions

He decides that he’s bothered Lani enough so he DM’s Teagan instead.

Ranboo: ‘Hey, I don’t know if you’re still up, but kinda weird question, do you know how long Tubbo sleeps normally ?’

Teagan: ‘Hey, yeah I’m up, normally IDK, probably somewhere between 2-3 hrs and that’s if he sleeps at all’

Teagan: ‘Why do you ask ?’

Ranboo: ‘Well I convinced him to ‘take a nap’ and he’s been passed out for just over 8 hours now’

Teagan: ‘Oh wow, you can try to wake him up now but he’ll probably just fall back asleep, otherwise he’ll sleep until someone wakes him up’

Ranboo: ‘And he doesn’t wake up ?!’

Teagan: ‘Nah, I think the longest he’s slept for was just over 32 hrs’

Ranboo: ‘So do I wake him up or let him sleep ?’

Teagan: ‘Uhh, I dunno honestly, I’ll go check on him in like an hr tho.’

Ranboo: ‘oh ok we’ll just what happens then’

Teagan: ‘yeah, good night :))’

Ranboo: ‘night :)’
