Into the Mystic

Summary:

Follow your heart.

If only it was that easy...

Notes:

I've decided that as much as I LOVE the MOC arc, Season 11 is my favorite. I could rewatch all of the episodes over and over and never tire of them.

Work Text:

“You wanna know the secret to living a long and happy life?”

“Actually, yes. I do.”

“Follow your heart. You do that, all the rest just figures itself out.”

Mildred Baker was a wise woman, Dean couldn’t deny that. She handled the news of the banshee with as much ease as could be expected, and she did what was necessary to gank it.

Her words were so simple, though. Follow your heart. A phrase that could apparently bring him peace and serenity after a lifetime of following everyone else’s desires and wishes.

Could it really be an easy fix? Could he really have it all?

Dean sighed before pulling Sam’s door shut. He walked across the hall to his room and sat on the bed.

Sure, Amara had an unbelievable pull over him. He...needed her. It wasn’t just physical, either. She was an attractive woman… being...God-figure?..., but she offered him something he’d craved his whole life.

Calm.

Being.

Not having to clean up after someone else.

No more monsters and End-of-the-World scenarios.

Just...bliss.

It was enticing. To say fuck it all, and let Amara take him. But he couldn’t do it.

He couldn’t give up the one thing in his life that gave him hope. More invigorating than the blood in his veins. More powerful than the air in his lungs.

Follow your heart.

Dean wanted to, but how could he when what his heart wanted was so incredibly fucked up? So...unreachable.

Amara could give him bliss, but no matter how hard he tried to deny it, there was only one thing his heart really wanted. One piece of him that was missing. One path that led to Dean Winchester's happy ending...
