Chapter 1: Luna
Chapter Text
It's so bright!!!!
Wait...
She exhales feeling like something hit her stomach.
She tries to open her eyes but there are two things. One, lights are too bright, and two, her eyelids are heavy. She opens them slowly. It took a few seconds for her to realize that the bright light source in the ceiling was a lamp, in those seconds Luna thought she might actually be dead. When she inhaled again, understood she is still alive. Good for me, lucky me...
But wait a second. Was this a hospital? Yes, definitely a hospital. Why was she here? Luna just noticed the beeping machine next to her. She wanted to get out of bed, but it hurt. The pain was everywhere. A nurse droid came in.
"Sorry, you have to rest."
"It hurts so much." she could only say. The nurse droid pressed a few buttons, and within seconds Luna relaxed. What had happened to her?
Luna slept some more, and she woke up. Then she slept again. She had lost the concept of time. When she felt that she was waking up without pain, she asked about her mother. It was like the two of them were together, before something happened. But the nurse droid said "no mother". Luna asked again. "Where is my mother?" The nurse droid shook her head. "No sign of concussion detected. Patient is in shock."
"I'm not in shock. Please, I want to talk to a human, is that possible?"
This was a terrible joke. Yes, Luna thought so.
Luna finally met with a human, and Luna was told she had been in a coma for a long time. She had been undergoing treatment in the hospital for a very long time. She had never had a visitor before. For more detailed information, it was necessary to look at the archives. Worst of all, Luna couldn't remember anything. No surname. She can't remember her mother's name. Nor could she remember the names of any of her family.
When Luna felt like she was going to stand up, she also needed to go to the bathroom. "My name is Luna. I remember being 14 years old. I had an accident. I have no memory." She said this to the image in the mirror. All this was so stupid. She had to find her mother. She trusted her inner voice, it was the best option she had.
Chapter 2: Hera
Summary:
Hera knows that she studied journalism at university, but at the moment all she does is spellchecking so she hates her job. Only one small mistake and she gets fired :)
Chapter Text
Every day means adventure to her.
At 6:00 the alarm goes off and she quickly goes to the bathroom. Then she makes herself coffee.
At 6:30 she wakes Adrian up and starts preparing breakfast. She is having breakfast with Adrian. She saves some for her sister and puts it in the fridge.
Adrian leaves the house at 7:55, he says he's a big 9 years old now and walks to school. Hera watches him until Adrian turns the corner. Then Hera gets dressed, puts on make-up, and leaves the house at 8:30. Before leaving, she writes a note for Sabine and sticks it on the fridge, "Your toast is in the fridge, heat it up, kisses & hugs, bye-bye"
And every day on her way to work she thinks about how much she hates her job, but with a smile on her face. She is someone who has studied journalism, her family knows best that she has really worked for years. Despite this, Hera works like a spell checker in the office. She hasn't been promoted for too many years to count. Her boss is a scumbag.
Passing by the bakery, the owner of waves to Hera. Hera is waving to him too. Old Hondo is a gambler and trickster, but he makes delicious donuts.
Hera is waiting for it to turn green for pedestrians, even though there are no cars or speeders on the road. Just like she taught Adrian. She loved being an aunt. It turned green for pedestrians and Hera started walking. Hera's son was studying at university and the Capital city was 180km away from here. Once one child is grown, raising another child was so much fun. Hera was spoiling Adrian. She had spoiled Jacen as well. Adrian is so-
Hera's thoughts disappeared in an instant. She didn't understand what was going on and she said "aaaaa" in surprise.
A girl, a teenager, seemed to sprint down the street, holding on to Twilek with both hands, her grip on Hera's arm with strength. That's why Hera said "aaaaaa". "My name is Luna. I'm 14. Missing... my mother... please."
Then she fainted. Hera knew that the girl was going to fall, the pressure on her arm was easing. The moment she grabbed her by the tiny waist, the girl fainted. She was wearing a hospital gown. Hera was stunned, shouting in her loudest voice for help.
Two human staff and three nurse droids arrived and carefully took the child from Hera's arms.
"Our patient came out of a coma. He must have been in shock."
Hera nodded and looked at the clock. 9:01. Her dickhead boss wasn't going to like that.
"Can I stay until the girl wakes up? She asked me about her mother."
The nurse droid nodded in agreement. "I don't mind if you stay."
A few minutes later the girl woke up. They exchanged glances.
"I'm so sorry. I saw you first when I got out of the hospital."
Hera smiled. "You told me you were looking for your mother. What is her name, where does she live?"
Her eyes filled. "I do not remember."
Hera decided not to upset the girl more. "So what's your name? Your last name?"
"I'm Luna. Well, just Luna."
Hera smiled again. "Glad to meet you. I'm Hera Syndulla. I work at the local newspaper. Let's see if there's any worried mom wondering about this sweet girl named Luna?"
Hera arrived at her workplace at 9:54, but her boss was waiting at the door. He explained to Hera that he couldn't go straight in because she was fired.
Hera, who got rid of the stress of the job she didn't like, told him with a devilish smile on her face that he was a very rude, cheeky, liar, stupid, troublesome, dickhead.
The man's face went livid.
Hera asked one of her colleagues inside to stop by her house and give her the holo photo of Jacen on her desk, and she left the musty-smelling old building, smiling.
Chapter 3: Sabine
Summary:
little summary of long events, warning: alcoholism
Chapter Text
Hera, freed from the burden of her disliked job, goes home happy and actually breaks the sync. It was only a few weeks later that she would understand what that meant. But now, today...
Returning home, Hera encounters an unexpected sight while planning to wake Sabine. Sabine in her bed, the same old pajamas, a packet of chips, half-full Naboo wine. Holonet tablet in her lap, crying at her old drawings, also empty beer can on the floor.
Sabine, who is already crying, starts to cry louder when Hera enters the room.
Hera really wants to be angry with her but her love for her sister is too much. Okay, adopted sister, but just as important to her as her own bloodline.
She takes the wine bottle, sets it on the floor, sits on his bed, and hugs Sabine. It doesn't matter to Hera, even if the tears wet her blouse. She waits for the woman in front of her to relax.
Sabine then begins to explain. She is referred to as a failed artist, she no longer has the same enthusiasm to paint as she used to, admits that Adrian and Hera are the only reason she's alive. Hera realizes that Sabine is going through a major depression.
Hera is very angry with herself for not seeing the facts that she has been facing depression and alcoholism for a long time, and she apologizes to her sister hugging her.
Sabine shyly admits she has a drinking problem, but she doesn't want Adrian to find out, she says she realizes she needs professional help. Then she starts sobbing again.
Hera discovers where the hidden drinks are, only 3 more unopened bottles, and because they're expensive, she locks them in her private cabinet instead of pouring them down the sink.
She hugs Sabine from the bed and takes her to the bathroom, and after a little cleaning, she lays Sabine on the bed. After Sabine sleeps, Hera throws herself out into the street, she needs some fresh air. Before she leaves, she tells Chopper to call Sabine if she wakes up.
Chapter 4: Ezra
Summary:
Ezra's sync breaks by when he arranges flowers, he caught Hera absent-minded, looking at roses.
Notes:
this chapter is sad but finishes happily.
Chapter Text
Ezra Bridger adores flowers.
Most 39 years old single men prefer holonet sports and cheap beer cans over flowers but Ezra just cannot.
Flowers and nature are the reason he studied botany at university. And he has a flower shop for years, he really cannot count. Okay, the shop's annual profit and loss statement hasn't been good for a long time but at least he doesn't pay monthly rent for the house he lives in, the flat is his, he has a speeder. He went on vacation in beautiful hotels in the past, went to concerts of his favorite bands. He had a smooth life.
He loved someone very much, and he was loved in return. He was spoiled with love. His first love, the only girl in the world, shared foods, beds, sleepovers at university. It was her who asked Ezra to marry and he was already planning to propose - he had said yes with tears.
Ezra was always talking about how lucky he was. The woman he fell in love with also loved him. They got married and later had two children. He was an orphan himself and wanted to have a child since he was a child. The two were born five years apart, he was very excited about both births. If he knew the children would be safe, he would die for them without thinking. He would also die for the woman he loved.
Then "life" broke all his plans, all the dreams for the future, ripped his heart apart...
Losing his family in a speeder and car accident has been big, speeders completely banned from car roads and new speeder routes were built afterward. Some people were injured before, but the death of a mother and two children made many very angry, and new traffic rules were introduced.
The pain never went away, but he continued to live. Sometimes he thought of simple suicide tactics, like leaving the iron on, or leaving the stove on the gas. But he didn't want to do that either, he just thought about it every now and then. We live very easily, but we can die in an instant, said the psychologist he used to go to.
As Ezra continued to live in classical sync with such thoughts, Hera entered. Sync is broken but yes... a few weeks.
“Hello,” said the young woman who entered. Ezra looked at the client, the twi'lek, beautiful green skin, orange blouse, and green eyes.
Pretty women don't usually come into my shop, Ezra thought. Stupid men who wanted to flirt with other women and apologize to their wives would come more often.
The customer was staring at the roses in the window, but Ezra realized it wasn't the roses.
"Is there a certain type you're looking for?"
"I do not know. I'll take it for my sister."
Ezra smiled. "Birthday, marriage, apology?"
The Twilek woman smiled. "Apology. And I want her to feel good."
Ezra showed and told the beautiful flowers one by one. He was really passionate when talking about them. The customer must have understood, too, Ezra realized that he was talking too much and stopped, a little embarrassed.
“We are both at home, unemployed, but we may not be able to take care of a flower well,” she explained.
“An easy-to-care flower would be nice,” she added.
"Does your house get morning sunlight?" he asked.
Finally, the twi'lek woman decides to buy a medium-sized orchid with two purple-toned flowers. "My name is Hera", she introduces herself as she leaves. Ezra smiles. "Nice to meet you Hera, I'm Ezra." he replies.
Chapter 5: Luna
Summary:
A little summary of long events
Enter Thrawn.
Chapter Text
After Hera left, Luna started to worry for the first time. She literally had no one. The nurse droids were not giving her information. They put Luna to sleep with medicine. When Luna woke up, the trolls were giving a concert in her brain. Luna, who asked for painkillers because she had a headache, was given medicine, but it also put her to sleep.
Controlling the time on chrono, said 8:46 pm when she eventually woke up groaning. Then her doors opened, she remembered the doctor.
Finally, someone asked her how she felt, thumbs up! But the same person also delivered two bad news. Firstly, she would have to be kept under surveillance because she wanted to escape from the hospital without being accompanied by an adult and at the moment Luna could only go out with an adult's signature. Although Luna asked the doctor who spoke to her, if he could sign, the doctor said he couldn't.
The second thing was even worse. The doctor silently handed Luna the bill, a little embarrassed.
"We usually give these to families. Kids at age 14 don't work, naturally. But that's how hospital policy works. You've had successful treatment, Luna, you're technically really good. You can be discharged tomorrow. But an adult has to vouch for you and sign and pay the bill." she told. Luna and the aforementioned foreign adult could discuss payment types among themselves later.
"You must be fucking kidding me," she replied, at the moment not caring anymore if the doctor would think less good about her. She looked down at the bills. She didn't know how much a person gained per hour. All she saw was a five-digit number. Realizing that the adolescent's mood had fallen, the doctor left the room.
Around 10 pm, as she was thinking about if she should call the nice twilek woman, Hera Syndulla, the doctor went in with a smile on his face.
"I think I brought good news for you, Luna" he chirped happily. Luna raised an eyebrow.
"You are a very special case at this moment, and this situation you are in has been reported to some high positions by the hospital, and my personal opinion was that this should be the case."
"What does that mean? Can I go? Or did you find the person to pay my bill?"
"The governor of the capital city, governor Thrawn, wanted to handle this himself. He is already known for his interest in children and animals. Of course, art too. He called our manager via holonet and said that tomorrow the fee will be transferred to our account."
Luna was surprised but delighted at the same time. "And what am I going to do? How am I going to pay the governor back?" She started calculating if she graduated from college at 23 -
The doctor smiled. "No, there's no need to pay him back. Most likely the governor will pay it out of the tax fund, not out of his own pocket. That's how most donations are made, Luna."
Luna was momentarily very happy, the doctor added.
"Governor Thrawn will probably want to meet you in person sometime as well, as I said, he cares about the children. He told our admin that he would arrange your transfer to the orphanage, but we'll find out the details tomorrow."
"The orphanage? What about - what about my mother?"
"Your mother?" The sadness of the doctor was evident. "Oh, Luna. Believe me, we've looked through the archives. The droids have scanned it over and over. You had no visitors while you slept here."
Luna's eyes filled with tears. She couldn't stay strong anymore, she teared up.
"Will they find me at the orphanage?" she asked the doctor.
"You've been in the hospital really long Luna, I - I don't know - you're not hard to find. We don't live in the capital city, this is a small town."
Luna's face was white when the doctor left the room. She was leaving tonight! right now!
Chapter 6: Hera
Summary:
this is a short chapter
Hera gives her gift to her sister.
Chapter Text
She knocks on the door of her room, but when she does not get an answer, Hera enters.
Sabine is not in the room.
“Sabine,” she calls.
No answer.
"'Bine," she calls again.
As Hera leaves the room and closes the door again, Sabine calls out from the attic, "I'm here."
Hera looks up from the side of the stairs. Sabine rushed down the stairs, tugging on a huge teddy bear from the attic.
"I have a surprise for you," said Hera, looking at Mr.Baby, who was covered in dust.
"I have you too," replied Sabine, "but first Mr. Baby needs a shower."
Mr.Baby was Hera's favorite toy, he would stand by her bed and Hera would hug him when she felt lonely.
“Mr.Baby can wait a bit,” Hera said, and she and Sabine went downstairs to the kitchen.
"Orchid?" she asked.
"The thing is, I didn't want to make a boring apology to you. I stumbled upon a small flower shop. It has a handsome owner, but he's not my type."
"Hera" Sabine laughed.
"And this beautiful orchid goes well with your hair."
"Why was the need?"
"From today on, I want us to have a more joyful life." Hera hugged her sister. "We've been through a lot together. From time to time, you've been the big sister."
Green eyes looked into amber eyes.
"Let it be no secrets from now on. Things that upset you also upset me."
The two women hugged each other tightly.
"Oh no, I don't want to cry," said Sabine. She started walking towards the stairs, giggling. "It's time for that dusty baby's bath."
Chapter 7: Ezra
Summary:
warning: minor suicidal thoughts
Chapter Text
Around 11:00 at night
He had reasons for not wanting to go home, very good reasons. He kept the shop open until late. Then he would get in the speeder and drive around town, loving the sweet breeze to caress his face.
The Wolf River split the town in two and drained into the Yellow Sea, stretching into the Capital City. The sea was indeed yellow. He had never investigated why. He often swam in the river with his family. He had never taken them there, thinking it was unhealthy. Now he was wondering, 'why is the sea yellow?'
Arriving at the bridge connecting the river, Ezra parked the speeder on the side of the road and momentarily considered throwing himself off the bridge into the lake. No one was going to miss him, his flowers were somehow taken by some, he had no debts to pay, no one to miss him, no one to cry for him. The only problem was that he couldn't drown because he was a good swimmer. He swam really well…
A few seconds later he reminded himself that it was a stupid idea. He needed something more effective to die, and even the thought of that was terrifying.
He moved a little closer to the bridge railing, not knowing how deep it was in his spot. He used to go to shallow places while swimming with the kids. He didn't know how much time had passed as he touched the railing and stared at the sky and the lake. He turned back to the speeder and was about to start the engine when he saw a silhouette in the middle of the road. A short person, long hair, female.
"Hey" he called. The person approaching was a teenage girl. What was she doing at this hour? Is that what she's wearing a hospital gown? but the weather is cold. "Hey kid," he called. The girl started running towards him. No shoes, great. Just great.
"Are you lost?" he asked. The girl was trembling.
"I can't go to the orphanage. I may be missing. But I escaped -From the hospital."
Ezra hadn't expected to hear that.
"Well... you don't have a family. But you shouldn't have run," he replied. Yes, the idea was bad but it was essential that children are safe. The girl was trembling because she was cold.
"Jump the bike, let's go to the hospital," he suggested. How old was she, 12? He extended his hand to the girl.
Their eyes met.
"My mother... my family must be looking for me. That's how I feel in my heart."
"What's your name? Please jump in and let's go to the hospital. You're freezing." Ezra got out of the speeder, took off his jacket, and draped it around her shoulder.
The girl hugged the jacket. "My name is Luna."
It was Ezra who felt dizzy, but Luna lost her balance and passed out. Ezra embraced the girl. Fuck, fuck, fuck, he muttered, what was he going to do?
Panicked, Ezra weighs his options. Taking the girl who asked him for help back to the hospital is the most logical option. But he would have betrayed her trust. He sat Luna in the back seat of the speeder. Realizing that the girl is not physically injured except for the cold, he starts the engine and drives home. He is so sure that he made the wrong choice along the way. It's like committing child abduction. Detaining a wanted person.
Carrying Luna on his shoulder, he climbs to the fourth floor and enters his apartment, leaving Luna on the sofa in the living room. Turns on the heater even though it's not October. When he remembers that there is no food in the refrigerator, he plans to feed Luna with the yogurt. Meanwhile, Luna wakes up.
"Are you okay?" comes to the girl.
"What happened?"
"You passed out. I think you're hungry. I had to bring you home."
"I thank you."
"But when you're feeling good, I'll call the police and you're leaving."
Luna looked at him as if she had been betrayed.
"But you can't do that."
"Yes, I can. Sorry kid," he was pouring yogurt into a small bowl. "Someone might think I kidnapped you."
"But I found you."
Ezra laughed, but it wasn't a genuine laugh. He came to Luna with yogurt and an apple. Luna looks at Ezra with her big amber eyes. "Look, my mom must be out there looking for me. I can't believe it otherwise. If she doesn't find me at the orphanage-"
"Look, let's start over, okay? I'm Ezra. I'm a simple guy with a flower shop. And—what's your name? How old are you?" He was asking her name again just to be sure.
"Luna. I remember being 14 years old. I was in a coma in the hospital. A doctor told me my family never came, I had no visitors. They looked in the archives, I suppose. I know there was a mistake." She bit her apple. Luna. Another pain stabs him as the girl shares his dead daughter's name, Luna.
"Did you say coma?"
"Yes. I had amnesia after the coma, that's true. I really don't remember my past, my last name." She paused for a while, then continued. "But I remembered my mother. Her face. Right in my memory, my brain, I can picture her. She's beautiful."
Ezra thinks about what the girl said, while Luna eats her dinner.
"Okay. Let's settle this. You can spend the night here. But you have to go tomorrow. Legally I can't take care of you. As for your family…" he took a deep breath. Luna looked hopeful.
"I didn't have a family either. I grew up in those orphanages you didn't want to go to. I went to college later. There, I was free and lived my life the way I wanted. In a few years, you'll be of age, too."
Luna had finished the apple.
"I know my family is out there somewhere. I have no memory, but I trust my feelings."
"Even if you don't have a memory, it can't be impossible for them to reach you, really, wherever you go. They just have to want it," he said. Sharing mutual pain, Ezra lets her sleep in the bed while he uses the sofa. But she has to go tomorrow.
Chapter 8: Chaos (I)
Chapter Text
In the morning, Hera and Sabine come to the hospital to learn how to get help with this addictive condition. But the hospital is on alert.
The two sisters learn the situation in surprise, a patient has escaped from the hospital. Hera thinks of someone, but before she can ask her question, a droid finds them and says that the person in charge will see them.
Hearing another nurse droid and two droid doctors talking, Hera and Sabine hear that the escaped patient is Luna. Hera looks very upset, briefly telling Sabine about the young girl who passed out in her arms yesterday. Both women feel bad.
Hearing the news on the holo radio, Ezra is in great distress. He wants to throw Luna out at that moment, but he also knows that he cannot do it. Meanwhile, Luna wakes up, wearing oversized pajamas looking so funny, despite the urgency of their situation.
Last night, he searched all the closets in his flat for any piece of clothing belonging to his late wife or children, but he couldn't find it. He couldn't have thrown them all away. It was as if they had never lived in this house. Ezra finally gave Luna a 'gift': his own shorts and a long-sleeved pajama top. It is very strange that there is also no underwear, spare toothbrush, any items at home.
Ezra hurriedly prepares breakfast, and dresses to leave the apartment, and hands the holonet tablet to Luna.
"I'm leaving to find out the situation at the hospital."
"So you're going to sneak in?" Luna asked with a chuckle.
Ezra chuckled too, but then he stopped himself. He shouldn't have gotten used to having this girl around.
"Here's the rules. I'm locking you in the house. Please don't run away. This is my tablet- Movies, TV shows, concerts, it's all there. There's only yogurt and fruits in the fridge, sorry, but I'll go shopping on my way back if they don't arrest me."
"This wouldn't be good. It's not your fault."
"Yeah, I'll put all the blame on you. Seriously, no leaving the house." He grabs his jacket and closes the door. And he really locks the door.
Luna had no intention of escaping, but the fire escapes on the balcony caught her attention. She thought, 'If I wanted to escape, I wouldn't have stopped because the door was closed, and she just went to open the balcony door. But this door was also locked. She chuckled to herself. Ezra wasn't stupid at all.
He locks Luna in the house and hops on the speeder to the hospital. Ezra walks in and takes a look at the chaos before him, then starts pretending. He tells the information droid at the entrance that he probably has high blood pressure, the staff let Ezra in and they start checking his heart rate, also stripping his shirt. Oh, it was too fast, he thought.
When he looks around, he sees Hera and another woman next to her.
When he and Hera look at each other, they wave, but his eyes shift to the woman next to her. Her short purple hair is in line with her chin, and her amber eyes look stunning, yet sad at the same time. A droid arrives and, as it draws blood from the purple-haired woman, she flinches slightly, as if hurt a little.
Hera, meanwhile, turns to her sister.
"This is the florist I said handsome," she whispers.
"It's such a shame, Hera. You can't set me up with every handsome guy." But Hera sees Sabine eyeing Ezra.
"So you think he's handsome."
Ezra is looking at them too.
“Look, socializing 101,” she whispered again, and Hera walked closer to Ezra, Sabine looking at her sister in disbelief. They were just talking about the weather - oh no - then Hera had said, "This is my sister Sabine." Ezra waved with a smile, and Sabine got up and walked over to Hera, wanting to kill Hera a little bit, but Hera and her matchmaking plans were not new. She tried to keep her eyes on Ezra's face, his dark blue eyes because his shirt buttons unbuttoned and lots of wires tied to his skin.
Meanwhile, Ezra realizes that Sabine is really a beautiful woman but doesn't want to cross the line, and he has a different person in his mind now. Feeling that he can trust Hera more than the droids, he asks Hera what's going on.
"Oh Ezra, it's too bad. I saw a girl yesterday morning, her name is Luna, with severe amnesia and possibly an orphan. She escaped from the hospital last night and it took them 3 hours to realize she had escaped. She may have even gone to Capital City. A small girl, alone and outside and - It's very cold at nights.” she added, with a pained expression on her face.
"Besides, Governor Thrawn paid for Luna's care at the hospital. She was to be transferred to the orphanage today."
"Oh, poor girl," Ezra was able to say.
Chapter 9: Sync (II)
Chapter Text
Sabine takes a moment to think, actually her first impression of Ezra is good but not enough. While the man is indeed handsome, at the moment Sabine thinks she needs to concentrate better on her son and her new alcohol problem. She was going to tell Hera these thoughts for a while so that she wouldn't try to get her a boyfriend for a while.
Ezra's high blood pressure went undetected and was released from the hospital, in fact, he was very healthy. Ezra looking a little reluctant and lacking in energy, Hera thinks it has to do with Luna, probably worried about the girl, buttoning his shirt and taking his stuff, waving to Sabine and Hera, leaves the room.
Sabine turns to Hera and 'informs' her. Hera asks what could go wrong if she asks him for a date. Sabine refuses, Ezra apparently seemed like a nice guy, but Sabine was too problematic.
Arriving home, Ezra tells Luna about the situation and tries to persuade her to go to the hospital.
Luna realizes that this story does not have a happy ending, that children deserve to be happy, but instead they face adult problems.
Ezra also gets upset and tries to comfort Luna.
"As I said before, I was in a similar situation. I studied botany, in case you were wondering. I love my job." He smiled, remembering the good memories. "I can say that I was alone until I met the woman who would become my wife. Of course, there were many friends, but I started a family with her. Someone was there for me when I was sad. I was there for her when she was sad."
Luna was listening with a friendly smile. Ezra seemed to be lowering some barriers. Four years later, when she turned 18, everything would be better for Luna.
Adrian, meanwhile, gets suspended at school. He comes home with Hera and Sabine. He is so angry that he kicks his bag, Sabine gently warns her son.
Adrian's defense is as follows: they read the same story as yesterday and the teacher didn't listen to Adrian. Within seconds, Adrian and the teacher started arguing in the classroom, while the other students stared. The teacher, who could not cope with Adrian, consulted the principal, and Adrian was punished for calling the man 'stupid' next to the principal.
Hera and Sabine say they believe Adrian but thinking logically, it's somehow impossible. Adrian says he's 9 years old, not stupid, and still goes to his room angry.

Chapter 11: Caring (III)
Chapter Text
Ezra went shopping on the way back from the hospital, but he only bought food products. Even though Luna wasn't complaining about the situation, she looked hilarious, her frail body in oversized pajamas.
Feeling sympathy for the young girl, Ezra went shopping again that evening.
It had been a long time since he had a teenager, a child in his house. Ezra could not count the years. What came to his mind as Luna's urgent needs were clothes and personal hygiene products.
Assuming the fact that the girl was thin and tall, he chose some size 2 T-shirts, two pairs of jeans, and a coat for her. Then a toothbrush and comb. He even asked another woman to shop for deodorants and which smell girls prefer. Then he realized he needs to get a shopping cart. He bought underwear, hygiene pads, hairpins, one sports bra, mostly everything, and returned home.
Luna loved clothes, t-shirts were always colorful, and Luna seemed to like colorful things.
The only thing Ezra didn't get was the shoes because getting the right size was important. Maybe they'd go out to buy together sometime, Luna thought, but she couldn't say it out loud.
Everyone was looking for Luna these days.
Then Ezra jokingly told Luna that she stinks, leading her to the shower. Wearing new clothes after the shower, Luna fell asleep feeling the tiredness of the day.
Luna was awakened by Ezra as the sunlight came into the room. His facial expression was serious. "We have a problem. Get dressed."
Taking off her pajamas and wearing normal clothes, Luna came to the living room and saw the governor agents waiting in the living room, semi-formal, semi-normal. Their expression was serious, too, but they were eating the donuts Ezra had cooked for breakfast.
"The good news is, I'm not going to jail." he was able to say.
"Still, that's a bit illegal, Mr. Bridger," said he, the muscular blond man.
"So I'm going to the orphanage? Now?"
"Eat the donuts first," said Ezra, handing her a plate as well.
"We understand your fear and panic, Luna. Governor Thrawn understands, too. No one is mad at you. But there are people who will take care of you professionally, just for situations like this." The muscular man was speaking. Luna bit the donut. "I'm pretty sure my parents are looking for me, but..." she managed to say.
The muscular man smiled.
"I know the headmaster of this orphanage personally, Luna. Believe me, everyone will make an effort to find your family."
By this time Ezra was out of sight, but he came back into the living room, carrying a backpack.
"I - I put what I bought you - All this stuff is yours."
Luna's eyes filled with tears. Oh no - she tried to control herself.
"Thank you very much, Ezra. Really. I don't know - you took good care of me - I really appreciate it."
Ezra didn't know what to say. He wasn't sure how they had found Luna, but the incoming agents were right. And indeed they were kind to Ezra, and to Luna too.
Luna smiled when he handed Luna her backpack, and Ezra smiled at her, then suddenly Luna hugged him. Ezra's heart stopped two beats.
"Take care of yourself, Luna. Believe that everything will be alright."
"Will I see you again?"
Ezra didn't hesitate. "Sure. We'll search your family together if you want."
"That would be great."
Chapter 12: Adrian
Chapter Text
The morning started smoothly. Sabine was waking up Adrian now, she wanted Hera to sleep a little more. Sabine was back in bed when Adrian left the house to go to school. It was going so fine for two days.
But a phone call from the school at around 10:30 actually hurried Sabine out of bed, showered, dressed, and rushed to the school in Hera's crazy heels.
Adrian created another problem, but this time eleven more children joined him: they said the teacher was repeating the same story over and over. In fact, Luke Skywalker, a long-time teacher and not an inexperienced one, had lost all his patience, but instead of shouting at the children, he was sobbing in class.
Sabine doesn't know how to respond to all this, she just hugs Adrian. Sabine goes home with Adrian, who is allowed to go home by the school. These two see a florist, Ezra's shop.
Sabine decides to let go of her shyness and mother and son enter the shop. Ezra is visibly upset, before Sabine can ask why, Adrian tells a few bad jokes, and Ezra is actually visibly cheered.
"What did the bee say to the flower? Hello honey!"
"What do you say to a fancy cactus? You look sharp!"
Looking for a reason to talk to Ezra, Sabine asks about orchids and the answers she gets are good for the flower in the house.
It was also good for Ezra, she thought, that he met Adrian and learned that Sabine has a son. She still didn't know if Ezra had a girlfriend or fiance (Oh 'Bine, believe me, no, he's single, Hera had said, she had already researched Ezra in the holonet)
Ezra had gotten used to Luna, even if he didn't realize it, just in two days. He didn't expect to see Sabine, while he was thinking about Luna.
He had to look again when he saw Sabine, not like the day they had met at the hospital, she was dressed very elegantly, her short purple hair was a bit wavy. Her son, Adrian, was also charming, kind and funny.
But now Ezra was a little bit more curious about Sabine, was she married, did she have someone in her life? What is Adrian's father like, is Sabine with him?
On the other hand, he wasn't really ready to date anyone. His heart always ached for his wife, his first love. In order not to offend Sabine, he would not give her mixed messages the next time he saw Sabine, until he felt ready to flirt or be in a relationship.
Chapter 13: Holonet (IV)
Notes:
Oh, I am so excited, we are really getting 'there'!!!!
Adrian is already a mini rebel, it's in his blood 🤪
Chapter Text
Zeb Orrelios, the director of the orphanage, knows better than anyone how terrible the streets are for children and that every child deserves to live with their family, because the years have not failed him, so he is aware of Luna's special situation. The day Luna arrives, Zeb and Luna talk at Zeb's office, promising that there will be families looking for Luna who want to look after her, even if they are not biological.
Luna immediately thinks of Ezra but she is more curious about her biological relatives. At least, if there's a chance.
That night, Luna socializes with a few more children and suddenly has an idea, borrowing a pencil from someone to draw a picture of her mother. The boy with the pencil admires Luna's abilities, but Luna says she doesn't remember whether she went to art classes or how she learned to draw.
The next morning, Adrian before heading to school, telling them that if Luke reads Snow White again, he'll call him 'Puke' out loud, he doesn't care if the teacher cries again or Adrian gets suspended.
After Adrian leaves the house, Sabine says she can start painting and remembers that it always helped her. Hugging Hera and saying that Hera is proud and will always be by Sabine's side.
A phone call distracts Hera and she picks up the call. Her son Jacen calling Hera.
"I don't feel well. Everything is so complicated and something, in my head screams. Worse, I cannot feel the force."
"Wait Jacen, relax and tell from the beginning."
"Mom, I cannot reach dad."
"What?"
"Mom please, it's so-"
"Okay but"
"I cannot feel the force, do you know what is it?"
"What force are you talking about dear?"
Jacen is quiet on the other side.
"Talk to me, Jace."
"I cannot communicate with my dad and I am worried about him. We are here and, he probably doesn't know."
"Oh no. Jacen-"
"He must be so anxious mom, he loves us so much."
"Hera, what's happening?" Sabine asked, seeing Hera crying.
"Mom, I don't know how to say this, but it's like an awakening."
Meantime Hera managed to control her voice and tears. "Jacen listen to me. I totally understand you."
"You do?"
"Yes, honey. Please please stay in your dormitory, I am coming with the first flight - or ride."
"No mom, you don't under-"
"Jace, honey. No. I totally know."
"Mom-"
"I'm coming okay? See you in a few hours. Stay there."
After Hera finished the phone call, Sabine prepares coffee and checks her previous artworks. But later, she is totally baffled, because when Sabine logs in to the holonet to search for tools, but the holonet is not working. Hera says something too, about able to book a trip, but holonet worked so well only 20 minutes before. Sabine is not panicked at all, she makes a list of the painting supplies she needs.
Meantime, realizing that Holonet is not working from home, Ezra goes to work, tries to connect from there, but the result is the same.
Feeling that his customers are less important than Luna, he jumps onto his speeder to visit her in person in the capital city, 170 km away.
As he drives slowly through town, he sees Hera walking with a bag, stops, and says hello. Hera tells him that she is going to the capital city and could not book a trip because the holonet is malfunctioning. Ezra offers to go with him, and Hera says if Ezra will drive faster, it's a good idea.
Chapter 14: Hera

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
As Ezra gets rider the speeder, he tells the truth about Luna, how she slept in his apartment for two days, knowing the truth but unable to kick a child out when emotionally hurt.
"I couldn't, Hera. I couldn't call the police or the hospital. It made me feel like trusting me was more important."
"You made the best choice, Ezra. I think I would have chosen the same path."
"Lucky I didn't go to jail. Besides…" he thought about how to say it.
"What happened, Ezra?"
"Hera... I didn't tell anyone about this."
He suddenly realizes that he can trust Hera because that's what his heart said. Something he learned from Luna. He admitted how he lost his wife and two children, missing them every day but, laughing, unable to find anything of theirs, so he shopped for Luna, guessing her size purely by chance, and despite her age, she's very mature.
"It's true, girls mature faster than boys." Then Hera talks about her past.
She spent a whole year in college with this guy, remembering their small talk, even his face, light blue shade eyes, light brown, long, ponytail hair - but not his name - remembering how many times she'd been embarrassed and cried about not being able to remember it, but definitely knew it wasn't a one night stand, ever!
Hera knew very well that the feelings were mutual and she was loved too.
Hera loved him so much, like a missing piece from the puzzle. They shared a bed together and fell in love. And she even got pregnant with a child, but he suddenly left. Hera couldn't reach him any further, as if his name had been erased from her mind, she doesn't/ can't tell about the pregnancy and that's how Jacen was born, the most important thing in her life.
Ezra's eyes watered, but he realized he couldn't remember his wife's name either. He stops speeder, having a mini panic attack, can't remember their faces, names, or his wife at all!! What is happening?
Even more strangely, how could he remember his daughter's name? Hera had no answer or idea, after Ezra calmed down, this time Hera took the speeder and they drove towards the Capital City.
Notes:
I cannot wait to post the next chapter, I have prepared ... like 20 chapters. Or more.
Chapter 15: Luna
Notes:
If you are ready, I can say that there is one chapter left to remember Kanan.
Chapter Text
When Luna saw Ezra in the hallway she really had to refrain from hugging Ezra, what she felt next to him was like being in the sunshine: warm and comfortable.
Meanwhile, Ezra asked how her first day was and if she wasn't comfortable he could talk to someone in charge.
"No, is everything okay?"
"Did you sleep well yesterday?"
"Actually, yes. I've met other kids as well."
"I'm really glad you're feeling okay. Please tell me if anything happens."
“Don't worry,” she replied. It was nice to have someone look after her.
They talked a little more about life with Luna, she said she loved to draw and maybe went to painting classes before she lost her memory.
While they were talking, a communication droid approached Luna.
"Excuse me. You must be Luna, who arrived yesterday, black wavy hair-"
"Yes - yes I am." she said in surprise.
"You have a call."
"Is Holonet OK now?" Ezra asked curiously. The droid turned to him. "Unfortunately not. This is a paid private network call."
“Hmm,” Ezra said, sounding like he was thinking. Luna told Ezra she could join too, but Ezra left her alone, stating that he thinks it's a private matter for Luna.
Ezra was looking out the window and some kids younger than Luna were playing volleyball.
"We stretch the outdoor activity time in these seasons. The kids should be having more fun before the weather gets cold."
When Ezra turned around, there was a large, muscular Lasat in front of him. He introduced himself as Zeb Orrelios, he was the manager.
>>>> > >>>> >>>>>> >
>>>> It was from Governor Thrawn himself when Luna answered the call. Luna was a little embarrassed, the man did a lot for her and Luna escaped from the hospital in return. But the Governor spoke amiably and asked if she was satisfied with her current situation,
He also admitted that he knew about Luna's friendship with Ezra Bridger. Luna admitted that he was very kind to her and somehow feels parental next to him.
Thrawn's left eyebrow rose a little, and Luna didn't miss it. Thrawn said he'd let her know if there were any developments, and if Luna remembered anything, Thrawn should have known. Luna nodded and the call was over. <<<<
<<<< <<<< <<< <<<<
Meanwhile, Zeb brought the subject straight: would Ezra want to adopt Luna? Surprised, Ezra admits that he doesn't think he meets the criteria. Zeb Orrelios smiled, saying he's been doing this job since forever and that the only criteria is probably feeling loved.
“This is a decision for Luna to make,” Ezra replied, confident that he would support her as best he could. That's when Luna arrived, smiling and holding folded paper, probably just finished her call. Zeb left them to talk.
Ezra didn't know how to open the adoption talk, and he felt it was too early for it. Luna handed him the paper.
"This is my mother's face that I told you about. Or rather, a sketch," she said.
"I dreamed of her face last night, Ezra," she said with childlike excitement. "Since I don't have crayons—she has the same eyes like me—
and she's a beautiful woman," said Luna, blushing.
Ezra takes the paper with a smile but doesn't look right away. Meanwhile, Luna changes the subject and says who the call came from.
"I also think there's something wrong with governor Thrawn, I don't know if you'll agree with me," she said. Ezra hadn't expected to hear that.
"Where did you get that impression?"
"Instinct." Luna shrugged slightly.
"I haven't met the governor in person, but as an example, there's no reason for him, to prevent us from searching your family," muttered Ezra.
"I hope so."
"I'm sure you got it wrong. Politicians tend to be a bit of a strategist." Ezra tried to joke. That worked, Luna laughed.
Luna said goodbye to Ezra and went back to the building, this time they hugged briefly.
Chapter 16: Jacen
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
Hera found her son on the campus and they walked to the canteen and bought two coffees.
Jacen was a popular kid at school, getting along so well with everyone, physically charming looks with his tan skin, green hair, and deep blue eyes. But today he was distracted and shortly responding to everyone, trying to avoid people. It's like this whole campus is a totally weird place to him.
Hera, not wanting to treat him like a baby in front of his peers, gently rubbed his arm and offered to sit on the grass drinking coffee.
"What's going on Jace?" She took a sip of her coffee.
Jacen tried to explain a little bit, but he got more upset when he saw that Hera didn't understand.
"Look, it's natural that you don't want to admit it," said Hera. She didn't want to think of Sabine, it wasn't a matter of being addicted to anything. "I'd better find a nice hostel or hotel here and spend more time with you. I haven't seen you since the summer, and I miss you."
Together they looked towards the slowly descending sun. "Or let's ask your school for permission, you come to us."
Jacen also did not agree with this idea, it was better to stay in the Capital City and mentioned that he wanted to go off-planet to find his father as soon as possible. "But Jace, you can't just go to the Governor's office and say, 'hello, I'm going off-world to find my father,' people like us - the public - need special visas," said Hera.
"I know that's true, Mom. But if he can't get to us somehow we - I have to get to him." said. Hera, on the other hand, smiled sadly, not knowing at all about Hera's pregnancy when the father disappeared - what? -Running out of her thoughts in an instant, Hera felt that she couldn't take it anymore.
“How can he not reach us, Jacen? The Holonet has only been closed since this morning, accessible for all the past years. I have never hidden my name and personal information there. I even mentioned you there.” She shook her head in disbelief. "You have to admit, whoever wanted to find us would have found us already. Sorry, Jacen."
"But this is different. Believe me, it's beyond the Holonet."
"For example?"
"Look mom." he took a deep breath. “My father is not a quitter. He is very strong, and the Force is by his side. For fuck's sake, his name is Kanan Jarrus!”
Hera was just about to warn Jacen about the choice of words, but then it hit her. Her name! Kanan! Kanan Jarrus!!
Meanwhile, Jacen had no idea how this discovery had affected Hera, Hera seemed completely silent and thinking, but Jacen repeated that he would soon get a visa or a fake visa and leave this planet.
"All I'm going to say is that now everything is different and I don't know what to do and how to do it. Be careful with my aunt. The others -" he seemed to say one more thing, but he couldn't "-warn the others."
After talking to Jacen, Hera decides whether to visit the orphanage to find Ezra, but what should she tell him? "Jacen is completely insane" or "I finally know his name, Kanan Jarrus!" or "don't wait for me, I have to stay a little longer in a hostel". She decided on the third option and found Ezra looking into the sunset.
"Looks like I'm going to stay here a little longer," she said to Ezra. She briefly said that Jacen needed emotional support. Ezra loved that she was so interested in her son, even now that he's an adult.
"Also, I'd like you to talk to Sabine, this is our address." She wrote it on her notepad and sent it to Ezra right away. "I'll miss Sabine's birthday if I stay longer than a week. But she won't mind it."
"Me too. Sabine will understand." he smiled faintly at the same time, she's a Libra. Sure thing, they could be compatible.
Hera then asked about Luna, and Ezra replied that she looked happy and wished to see her more. Unfortunately, the holonet still doesn't work, he didn't know how long it would be. “Ah,” something crossed his mind, “Luna has drawn a picture or sketch of her mother,” he took out a neatly folded piece of paper from his pocket,
“I haven't had a chance to look at it yet. Do you have a good facial memory?” and Hera laughed, Ezra unfolded the paper, and they both looked confused and shocked. The sketch looked exactly like Sabine!!!

Chapter 17: Sketch (V)
Chapter Text
Hera Syndulla never gets shocked. Finding his dad's affair with a young girl only five years older than Hera did not shock her.
A positive sign on a pregnancy test, no shock. Half-human half twilek baby with green hair, no shock.
Her first employer who didn't pay her the bonus she rightfully deserved, foreclosure on his office and man's sobbing, not shocked either.
Sabine crying at her door, huge tummy eight months pregnant, no shock.
Sabine again, confessing she consumes too much alcohol, saying life is hard that she cannot take anymore and only Adrian makes her continue to her life, no shock either.
But this girl, who never met Sabine, or Ezra before, or Hera, drawing her sister's sketch, and she claims she dreamed of her? And she was comatose?
"How this could be happening?" she managed to ask. Hera was never the type to believe paranormal or fortune-telling. Ezra also could not think.
"She even told me she's beautiful and more real in her dreams. Also told me their eye color is same." Ezra remembered Sabine's amber-colored eyes but so many people could have it.
Meantime Ezra grabbed a bottle of water somewhere kiosk and brought it to Hera to drink. She sat down and drank the water.
"This could be any girl, any woman, we just think it's Sabine."
But neither of them believes. The sunsets and the sky bluish orange. They talked a bit more about possibilities but eventually, Hera stated she needed to find a nice place to stay, feeling better and able to get going. Staying with Hera until deciding she's okay, Ezra jumped to his bike, calculating he should be at home in less than two hours if he rides fast. Saying goodbye to Hera, he got on the bike and punched the gas.
>>>> Thrawn hung up a call from his agent, reporting Ezra left the capital city and probably be home in one hour.
Deactivating holonet was the right choice, he trusted that Ezra would go there personally, just to chat with Luna even for one hour.
Meanwhile, Hera's departure was sudden, he took a mental note about checking up Jacen Syndulla tomorrow. The communication droid beeped and started to transmit a photograph. A few seconds later photograph was on his screen, Thrawn wandered in awe. There she was.
The trouble maker. <<<<
Chapter 18: Sabine
Summary:
It's a date then :)
Chapter Text
Its been three days since he came from the capital city and now he was going back excited to see Luna. Ezra could not remember what was like his life before - no actually he could. Tired man, bags under his eyes, depression got him tight hold, suicidal thoughts in his brain, not even wanting to eat a meal until his stomach protested, and getting back home after sunset, crappy holonet shows, occasional alcohol consumption, and drifting off restless sleep.
Now he couldn't believe himself. It was 7 am and he was awake! Breakfast ready and packed for their picnic, also his present for Luna, a sketching tablet, and he borrowed Sabine's droid Chopper, already downloaded a comedy movie in his memory, he was ready to go.
It had been three days since there was a knock on her door, Adrian sleeping on his mom's left shoulder, she thought its Hera so opened the door in her PJs looking like a mess, it Ezra. Oh my!!
"Ezra!" Sabine surprised, "it's late, uh?" she could say.
"Hi, I know. Hera wanted me to tell you she's going to stay a few days longer, with her son. You know, holonet is down." Meanwhile, Adrian walked to the door to see who knocked. "Ah, florist friend" he happily cheered. Sabine thanked him for informing, not sure whats her impression in orange PJs.
Knowing it's a late hour, Ezra didn't want to get in, and apologized maybe four times in a row and later left.
Ezra is a total dummy, joking guy like a first impression but Sabine realized that the more they talk, the more his true nature and habits become seen.
The next day (two days ago from now) around noon, he brought freshly cooked bread.
"I am trying some new recipes, you know, I am getting tired of fast food," he explains. The bread was really good, it had raisins in.
"You know about Luna, right?" he said, after finishing his plate, and as he told Hera, he explained everything to Sabine too, and confessed this bread recipe is also for a picnic meeting he's planning in the Capital city, with Luna.
"I feel like we are connected in a way, it's so weird."
"You two were meant to meet." Sabine smiled. "Do you believe in destiny?"
Ezra wanted to say no. But now... He left Sabine's house and returned to his shop.
Yesterday, in the evening this time, he knocked on the door, asking for Chopper, droid rental. Sabine invited him inside, a prepared hot herbal tea was ready to drink and she asked Ezra if he likes fennel tea. Getting a positive answer, she took two mugs from the cabinets.
They talked about hobbies, and Luna too. Meanwhile, Sabine started to clear Chopper's unnecessary data so the droid wouldn't malfunction tomorrow. On the other hand, Ezra was telling a droid companion is better than tablets.
Sabine, now knowing Ezra better, decided to give the droid completely free, but Ezra insisted to do something in return, so Sabine simply said "Well, maybe, we could talk later, or meet somewhere around the town, hence we are... being friendly."
She couldn't even believe what she said!! It was like an automatic response or instincts take over. Maybe it wasn't flirty behavior but she asked him out! She asked Ezra to go out!! Whatever it is, this was a green light for flirting and she blushed softly when the words fell out of her mouth.
Ezra on the other hand did not get cocky, which is good for him, but his face lit up a little, "so...we are friendly, now" a thought has happily seen on his face.
They drank fennel tea in their mugs and Ezra later left for his home with the droid accompanying him.
Chapter 19: Picnic (VI)
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
Now, today, Sabine knew today Ezra would go visit Luna, he already told Sabine about how he decided to let her stay in for two days, simply couldn't leave her and a connection was formed.
Ezra also admitted maybe he could adopt her but it was up to Luna.
Sabine felt like Ezra could be a good father, one day. But she didn't know how to ask him all these years he stayed single. She also couldn't ask this soon, and it was his story to tell.
Feeling the house is empty without Hera in it, and Adrian at school, Sabine decides to go paint her recent work.
Thrawn watched Ezra, Sabine, and Hera closely thanks to his agents but now he was going to investigate another person. For now, it seemed everything was going normal, but it could be a matter of time before everyone could remember their past.
His latest cue was on Jacen Syndulla, Thrawn deduced that he awake too, completely remembering his past life but not doing anything, or telling the others the truth they certainly weren't ready.
Thrawn already ordered his agents to not make young Syndulla wait at application for visas, whatever the lie he says, Thrawn knew it was to find Kanan Jarrus.
Or any other Jedi.
Thrawn basically knew too well about battle strategy and sure he lost before. He would happily lose this war too, only to win the future battle, if there was going to be one with Wanda Maximoff. He needed to learn her intentions.
Around 11 am Ezra arrives at Luna's building in the Capital City. to his surprise, both sides hug again. Luna has permission to leave the building for few hours, so they ride on Ezra's bike and find a nice park to picnic.
Luna hasn't received any more memories but only voices and doesn't know how to unite them, what is what. She's overjoyed with the tablet, Ezra promising that her drawings are always appreciated - if they even the sketches of a woman you never met - silently says himself.
They eat while they watch the movie in Chopper's data, and laugh a lot - so also Chopper beeps like he is laughing. Ezra realizes Luna is leaning to his right side, like automatically. He feels happy truly, the girl feels no different than his own.
After the movie, she asks the question he feared, "did - my sketch did it mean anything?"
Ezra knows how to lie well, that saved him a lot during his rogue days in youth but never lied to anyone he loved. Same case for Luna.
"The truth is, we got someone. But-" he adds as he sees the huge smile on Luna's face "- it's somehow impossible.", and begins to tell "the sketch resembles Sabine, Heras sister, a friend of mine and - it seems wrong.
"You never actually met her. And, she's a mother too, she has a son," remembered Adrian too. "I don't think she would leave a daughter behind." it's could not be. He sensed it.
"She seems so caring about her son." His hand went to caress his hair like he always does when he's stressed.
"You say, if she was my mother she would not leave me," Luna finished his thought for him.
"And Hera would remember you logically, right?"
Luna silent, but later remembers that Chopper belongs to Hera, she asks if Chopper has a holo photo. Chopper answers that his data cleared by Sabine before she gave the droid. Ezra doesn't have anything to compare.
And here goes the biggest catch, would Sabine ever give up her daughter? Very sure, NO, something boldly appeared in his mind. Ezra indeed saw how she is with Adrian.
Luna admits she would like to meet Sabine, acting friendly, while Ezra cannot decide if that's a good idea or Luna will be heartbroken.
Luna insists that she has to see her in person to decide if she's really the woman in her dreams. They also admonish Chopper not to tell anything to Sabine, because she should not freak out.
Ezra knew, he would.
Notes:
I wonder what's going to happen to Ezra if he's finally awake? He's gonna frreeak out and cry. Oh wow.
Chapter 20: Tavern (VII)
Summary:
put your hands up 😉
Chapter Text
They arrived at the orphanage building at 7 pm when the sky was bluish orange, the sun is setting.
"You love looking at sunset skies?" Ezra asked. "I - somehow I know I always loved," Luna answered smiling. She grabbed her backpack, which is a gift from Ezra too. They said goodbyes and hugged again. He waited outside until she went indoors.
He already asked Luna if she would like to -maybe travel with Ezra- and stay in his place for a weekend, and with Luna saying "sure" he was already planning it.
After saying goodbye, Ezra hops on his bike and decides to visit Hera, if she agrees, she could ride home with him. He arrives at the campus and asks for Jacen Syndulla, although he doesn't know what he looks like. Apparently, Jacen is a popular kid and knows how to have fun, because some people name different bars he could be in.
A group of students, which they got tattoos all over their skin and wear fewer clothes - huh ok - offer Ezra to accompany him as they go to a tavern, outside campus because that's where Jacen is. Kicking himself silently, wishing he asked Hera which hostel she's staying in, he tags along with the young group and he finds himself riding on a speeder, behind a girl, gripping her jacket for his dear life, because she's riding so fast crazy.
The building is old and so is the tavern, as they walk to the basement floor by stairs. Loud music is literally bleeding his ears, tries to focus on finding Jacen.
A bartender eyes him and winks him. Sure, he does look like an outsider among many young faces and cooler clothes. The girl he rode behind, says something but he cannot hear. She shouts in his ear. "JACEN IS OVER THERE - " so he looks there, a group sitting on a table, and there's also a twilek woman - Hera - sitting.
He meets eyes with a guy and the same guy talks to Hera at the same time.
Hera turns around and saw Ezra.
Meanwhile, Ezra, relieved that Hera is already here, walks near their table but Hera gets up and approaches Ezra before he does, Hera also grabbed a glass - oh a blue-colored cocktail, Ezra has no idea what contains.
"EZ!" she shouts, as she approaches him, dancing and her lekku also moves, and she continues to dance, swinging to sides, and in a second, Ezra is holding the cocktail, Hera holds him close - what? WHAT?
Luckily Hera does not do the thing he feared, but she walked in so flirty and happy, and very drunk, he feared she gonna kiss. Not that she's an ugly woman, but chemistry is so off. Also, Ezra has a date promise to her sister. Eww eeww.
Meanwhile, he also notices the guy is eyeing closely Ezra like he has something in his mind. Hera shouts loud, but not a scream totally. "Ezra this is Jacen, my son!!" Hera grabs him by his hand and shows him a place to sit down. "Nice to meet you," Ezra shouts back, now the loud music doesn't bother him.
He realizes Jacen is a handsome young man, blue eyes and green hair. Jacen nods but then smiles at Ezra. Hera introduces Ezra to other people, Jacen's friends. Ezra wonders around what time he should be questioning why he's here. He meant to talk to Hera but looks like she's having fun. Checks his watch, it's 9 pm. He spent so much time around campus, asking every student about Jacen.
A guy, one of Jacen's friends, says something about DJ does not play cool songs and he gets up to talk to the DJ, Ezra considers if he's going to like the blue cocktail. Hera is sitting next to him, her hands up in the air, rhyming the beats, her head also moving, happily drunk, enjoying the atmosphere. Ezra literally admires how she's living the moment and fitting into the group.
Just about to get the drink to his lips, Hera turns and grabs his wrist.
"Let's GO DANCE" and before Ezra could reply, he's up from his seat, following Hera.
It's not a slow song but they start dancing like it is. Hera even hugs Ezra and Ezra cannot describe how many colors his face changed - and then.
"I'm pretending to be drunk. Thrawn's agents are watching us- no, don't ask, trust me -"
His eyes widen. "But why?" he asked. Hera shushed.
"Try to have fun and don't act like you know you are being watched. I'm serious. You look so -"
"What?" Ezra asked because it took Hera a few seconds to think.
"I don't know. Be relax and try to seem normal. I will explain everything to you, but later. This is a public place."
Then the music changed to a more rhythmic song, sill loud and as he danced he found the song easy to adapt into a rhythm until the singer woman started to sing very inappropriate songs about desiring a man in her bed, and need a body...
"What crappy things do the youth listen to today?" he asked Hera, leaning to her to make his voice heard.
Hera rolls her eyes, silently agreeing. Also - oh - she unbuttons two buttons on his shirt.
"This is better." she shows thumbs up.
They danced past midnight until the crowd decided to go to a nightclub. Hera and Ezra sat down, happy, sweaty, tired. So tired. Jacen smiles at him.
"We - couldn't really socialize tonight," Ezra said. There was something in Jacen's eyes, he looked into Ezra very deeper like he reads his soul. He felt naked suddenly, but only for two seconds.
"We will have time," Jacen answered. Ezra was getting secretive but also familiar vibes from Jacen, although - oh no, I hope he's not interested in me in THAT way -
"Ok mom, this is where we separate." Jacen suddenly said, taking his eyes off Ezra, hugged Hera.
Hera caressed his son's hair.
"Be careful with - school stuff," she said. Jacen winked.
Checking the hour, it says 1:48 am. Ezra and Hera leave the tavern for Hera's hostel.
"My bag is already packed. We can leave now. Are you sleepy? Can you ride speeder, if not-?"
"No, I don't feel tired." After many hours of dancing, it was good to sit down for half an hour.
Chapter 21: Ezra
Chapter Text
After the fun and dancing, Ezra and Hera go to her room, a pension close to the campus. When they enter her room she closes the curtains and turns on the bedlight, Ezra drops himself to the couch.
Hera closed the curtains but she peeks a look outside.
"See the car? Black and modern?"
Ezra gets up to see.
"Agents?" he asks.
"Obviously," she answers.
"I cannot believe it. Why?"
"Because Jacen is awake."
"What?"
"After all these things I've heard and witnessed, Ezra, I believe this is - not good."
She looks sadder and goes to sit on the bed. Ezra returns to the couch but feels anxious.
"What did you mean by Jacen is awake?"
Hera considers how to answer before speaking.
"Have you ever thought maybe your destiny was somewhere but something holds you back?"
"Not really."
Hera gets up from bed and pulls her bag under the bed, where she hid.
"Jacen told me about things and I believe him. At first, I didn't. Oh my, at first I thought he's going through a phase where growing without a father figure badly affected him." She opened the bag and pulled a jacket, and put the jacket on her.
"Thrawn is a bad person from our past - Jacen's past, but long-forgotten he says. He has never encountered him. And the life we are living in, or we thought we lived, because - that's so tragic for me - we believe we lived those memories - but we didn't!! It's fake, my life is fake -"
She sounds like she's on edge of crying hysterically and Ezra does not know how he's going to comfort her. She hiccups at the end but takes a breath and holds herself.
"He said his whole life here, the childhood he remembers or the college days are lies and many fake memories - but also similar in a way because our personalities remained same and we ended up together in a family, me, him, Sabine..."
"Let me get this correct because I'm getting lost," Ezra said, as she hiccuped again, this time Ezra put his hand on her shoulder gently. "Jacen things all your life, your jobs, your - what?"
"My daily routine is a lie. My job experiences too. Jacen said that I've never worked for someone ever in my life, and I was a pilot."
"A pilot? Like space vehicle aircraft?"
She nodded. Ezra whistled. "That would be so cool. You know what, I can imagine you. On a seat... buzzing to hyperspace." That made Hera laugh.
"How Jacen is sure Thrawn is following him? And you - and now me?" Then he realized in a heartbeat, Luna too probably.
"Because we are - right at this moment - normal citizens who pay taxes. If we did criminal activities, we would be arrested. If we had high amounts of debts, we would be dealing with that people. This sudden interest of agents made me believe Jacen."
Ezra nodded, this really explained a lot.
"I'm going to confess something... about Jacen. Sure I don't know him - but he kinda-"
"What?"
"I sensed a feeling. He literally stared into my soul."
Hera laughed genuinely, first time tonight since they left the tavern.
"He has that. He was naturally that way."
"Oh before I forget, Jacen doesn't have school work. Tomorrow he's going to apply for a visa for off-planet. And he says... he says he can fly those space vehicles."
"Can he?"
Hera shrugged. "Apparently, I've taught him."
"I don't know Hera. Doesn't all of them seem so strange to you? Fake memories? I - I lived a life with all goods and bad, I love it, except in my lowest moments, I had thought of ending my life - but all passed." Ezra could not really believe it.
Hera looked sadly.
"Me too Ez. I truly understand you."
"At least, in some other past, you and Jacen and Sabine were together."
"Yeah, he told me. My sister is really my sister." She smiled.
"I wonder what I had."
Hera now understood him completely. She pulled him close and hugged him. "I have a good feeling about it. You were loved. Don't worry."
They leave together, get on the bike and ride under the moonlight.
Chapter 22: Sabine
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
Sabine wakes up at the sound. Here's the catch, once she wakes, she cannot sleep. One of the things that happen when you stop alcohol consumption. But Sabine never complained ever. How she could let the control of her life go away? The sound again - and Sabine knows someone is at her door. It's 4:17 am.
Fuck Hera, because only she could come.
Sabine opens the door, she was going to snort at Hera for arriving at this hour - but there's also Ezra too! She's in PJs again! (why he always sees me like this?) Ezra meanwhile drops off Chopper - poor thing, Ezra had to leave charging the droid at the campus, promising to arrive soon but later he had to call the droid when he realized he was going to stay longer in the tavern - and did not forget to pick him up from campus)
"Hi," he said in a shy voice. Chopper beeped Her petted his head, droid walking inside first.
"My feet are protesting, but the droid is worse shape." She explained. Ezra did not walk in.
"Tonight had been eventful for all of us."
They said goodbyes and Sabine closed the door, feeling the heat rising on her face.
"What is that?" Hera asked playfully.
"Nothing."
"Yes, nothing. Come on, I leave the house for three days and you're blushing to see him."
"Hey, don't you have something to do better? Like sleeping?"
"Sure, and I have some very important things to tell you. But in the morning." Hera shrugged. "I want to know from your words how good at flirt he is."
"You and your never-ending -"
Sabine thought it was best to shut up because Hera yawned, actually looking like a mess.
"See you in the morning, go sleep now."
"What about you? you-"
"I will be preparing coffee for me and turn on the radio. Low sound, no worries."
"I don't care. I think I'm going to sleep like the dead. My - what a day!"

Chapter 23: Chopper
Chapter Text
Sabine is awakened by Chopper, constantly telling her it's urgent, "it's Ezra, wake up. We will talk," he beeps.
"Huh?"
Sabine looks around and listens, petting the droid and she says "I didn't hear a doorbell" she thought Ezra was here, again. The chrono says it's 9 am.
She turns and asks Chopper "Are you kidding Chop?"
"This is rather important," then Chopper asks immediately "do you have a baby?"
Sabine laughed, 'what kind of question is that?' let alone having a baby, it's been so long she had sex, actually, she doesn't remember.
Chopper chirps, "Ezra and Luna think that Luna is your daughter because she's having you in her dreams". Sabine laughed,
"If I had Luna as my baby - ugh that's stupid - I can't even - I would know. That's the dumbest crap I've ever heard." She gets up from bed and looks at herself in the mirror, brushing her hair.
Chopper chirps "I know, but Luna girl draw your face on a paper, she gave the paper to Ezra and she said you are her mother. Hera too has seen the drawing and she was very surprised."
Sabine now seems serious, "Did Ezra played with your data?"
"No, he cannot dare that. I will kill him myself. But I have to warn you about the possible damages. The girl is Lunatic".
Sabine gets the joke but cannot even smile. "How the hell she can draw me, I never met her", she concludes - suddenly becoming aware how this is serious.
Chopper replies "that confuse Ezra too. I think you should stop flirting with him. He's going to adopt Luna, 95% I am sure,"
Sabine rubs her eyes, feeling like a droid unable to function, she needs answers.
Today it's a Wear a Costume Day at school so, no lessons for kids. And Adrian is at home, he seems happy again, teacher Luke progressed so well after what happened so now they read different stories. Hera and Adrian are reading another book. Sabine kisses her son on the cheek, causing Adrian to giggle, and Hera's eyes meet hers.
"I was thinking about getting fresh air." Sabine blurts. She's trying her best not to think about what Chopper said.
"No. No. I am against it." Chopper enters the living room beeping.
"Against what?" Adrian asks, distracted by the droid.
"Adults need to talk. I did what I had to do."
"Chopper!" Sabine is about to swear but she stops herself.
Hera sends Chopper away to another room, Adrian goes to his room and Sabine prepared coffee meantime.
"What Chopper exactly told you?"
Sabine tells everything. When she finished, her head is between her hands, the coffee mug still warm but untouched.
"I don't know what to think and I should talk to Ezra. No, I should talk to Luna. And explain to her, I only birthed Adrian in my life -". Hera stopped Sabine.
"Hey look. Take a breath first. You should know that these two are aware of the possible facts."
"You talked to her?"
"I talked to Ezra."
Two sisters brainstorming, not finding enough words, sipping their mugs.
"It's crazy but what if Luna is right? It all connects with Jacen's theory!" Hera blurts suddenly, Sabine looks in disbelief, big brown eyes.
Before Sabine can object, Hera starts to tell from the beginning.
"When Jacen first reached out to me I thought he's crazy. Or he's going through a phase where growing without a father figure badly affected him." Hera continued.
"With the small signs, I realized he could be right, and now I totally believe him. Not because he's my son and I will support his ideas, but because they were rational."
Hera quickly told about 'the agents'.
"A couple of cars changed your mind?" Sabine asked. "Not just that. Think about it. Aren't we normal citizens? Then why someone would follow me?"
"You are on drugs?"
"Sabine..."
"People who go that tavern, they use drugs."
"No."
"Just saying."
"Jacen exactly said; Governor Thrawn is a villain, a bad person from our past lives. He was actually a governor there too. He said we were the rebels and we fought against the Empire."
"I wonder were we crowded... because you said Empire."
"He didn't actually say something about... Sabine, don't change the subject."
"Big Bad Empire."
"Exactly. He also said-" Hera breathed in. "He said 'his' name."
Sabine forgot how to breathe. "HIS?"
Hera nodded.
"Tell me!! We gotta search on holonet and then - I might rip his head off!"
"No one is ripping any heads and I already looked up. Nothing."
"NAME?" Sabine angrily grabbed her tablet.
"Kanan Jarrus."
She typed and showed the screen.

Thrawn watches the redhead woman hug her sons, twins maybe, because the boys have the same height, from distance. He doesn't know how far her magic is beyond but aware of the dome, he thinks maybe she knows I'm here. Oh yes, she definitely knows, she sent her sons to the house.
Thrawn approaches, they probably have more than 300 meters but she looks directly to him. The game is on.

Chapter 25: Pondering (VIII)
Chapter Text
The building is old but definitely has its own style. Sabine remembers Ezra gave his address and that's definitely somewhere Ezra would live.
She rang the bell and Ezra answered, Sabine introduced herself, and as soon as she spoke door was unlocked. She went to the fourth floor and saw Ezra a bit in hurry, happy, even excited she could say.
"I was so preoccupied with things, I did not know holonet back online. I realized this when I saw your message. What can I get you - ugh I got juice, beer, chicken wings, and I can cook pasta maybe."
"Juice is good. I am not so hungry."
"But you will be?"
Sabine smiled. "Probably."
"I will cook then."
Sabine meanwhile was searching for the right words to tell, not wanting to break any hearts, and she simply starts from the truth, the things Chopper had said.
"Don't take it personally, the droid is like a family member, so he likes jokes."
Ezra then confirmed. "I didn't know how to tell you either. So it is a good thing Chopper told you everything. Even if we told him not to tell you."
"Oh, you did?" Sabine laughed, Ezra smiled guiltily.
"Well, that's understandable, he's your droid."
They talked a little more and Sabine concluded by saying the obvious.
"I mean, I would do everything for Luna - to her not have wrong thoughts, and I'll be nice to her, support emotionally -but nothing more. I just want everyone to be happy."
Ezra nods understanding and feels ashamed because this is like overstepping her boundaries. Chopper was her droid, after all, he cannot be mad.
"I don't know if you would be interested maybe tomorrow you would like to join me, I'm going to visit Luna, and if you're interested to talk to her-"
"I would love to. I feel like I should meet her."
"Okay... I pick you up around 10 am?"
Sabine nodded, accepting, then they ate their dinner and talked about holiday plans, art, a new exhibition in the Capital City. It's in the evening as she walked home, she realized tomorrow is her birthday too and she's going to spend it... with Ezra.
Chapter Text
The next morning, Sabine checks the chrono after waking up. 05:16 10/06 'happy birthday to me' she thought in her mind.
Knowing very well, once awaken, cannot go back to sleep, Sabine gets up from bed and prepares coffee, then goes in the refresher. Looking at herself in the mirror, a sudden idea, and she decides to dye her hair.
While waiting for her hair to dry, Sabine drinks coffee from her favorite mug, Hera comes in "good morning" she murmurs, totally fine with Sabine waking up early -
"whoah," she says seeing Sabine.
Sabine's hair is colored in mint green on the top, and darker shades appear under her ears back of her head. And although Hera cannot really differ the shades very well, because the sun is still rising, she will tell the color better in the morning.
"You look, great sis."
"Well, it's a birthday renew."
"Sure it's not about Ezra, right?"
Sabine sent her death glares. "Me liking him does not mean I'm going to dress up for him. Or doing my hair for his liking."
"So, do you like him?" Sabine blushed.
"What about you???"
Hera could not say a word but her eyes mostly telling everything Sabine needed to know. Yesterday, seeing Kanan's profile on holonet was a shock for Hera.
"I wonder how this happened. I searched for him, and I got nothing. I feel like some is controlling holonet and playing with us."
"Must be governor Thrawn."
Hera made a face like she got nausea.
"I really hope he won't."
"What do you think about Kanan?"
Hera blushed more than Sabine, cheeks rising dark green. Sabine grinned.
"I think nothing."
"Nothing for general audiences, you mean."
She rolled her eyes. "He looks like the way I remember him," Hera commented finally, her cheeks returned normal color. "So, what do you think Ezra planned for you?"
"Oh, he doesn't know it's my birthday. I did not tell him."
"You what? Why?"
Sabine made a face. "I didn't want him to try hard."
"Oh 'Bine," Hera said. "But he wants to."
"No. We will have a normal, nice day, like what other people do." Sabine finished for mug meanwhile. "I'm waking Adrian."
"No, I will do. You go get ready."
"I am ready."
"It's a date Sabine, will you please iron something and look good?"
"I always look good."
Right at 9:35 am Sabine wears her boots and leather jacket, ready to walk Ezra's home, Hera makes a high-pitched noise.
"Jacen's application is approved!" she says, totally surprised, looking at a tablet.
"Wow. It's sooner than expected."
"Thrawn, obviously. That crappy blue-"
"I love you too sis."
But deep down Sabine too, knows that it is something other than being lucky. An old enemy as Jacen told his mom, an application approved sooner than most candidates... Whatever the thread Thrawn can do, Hera knows she's going to do anything in her power to protect her son, the powerful 'warrior' Kanan Jarrus included or not.
"Have a nice date Sabine, and happy birthday! I hope you kiss him today!"
Sabine made a face, shrugging. "That was NEVER on my mind!"
"Now it is!!"
Sabine left the apartment and saw Ezra on his speeder, waiting, she gasped. The way he held the helmet, or the coat he wore, Sabine didn't know- that MAN TOTALLY DRESSED UP FOR HER.
"Hey, I did not expect you here. I was going to walk your home. I hope you didn't wait for long."
Ezra smiled, giving her another helmet. "Only three minutes, or five." They hopped on the speeder and ride.
Notes:
Will they really kiss in the next chapter? I don't know either, haha.

Chapter Text
While they been riding on the speeder, they talked about life updates, Sabine told Ezra that she is aware of everything just like Hera but still finding it hard to believe.
Ezra tells her about Thrawn's agents looking probably even for Luna, so he wants to talk to her inside, in a room no one eavesdropping. Sabine agrees that, as it is the only logical option.
"I can't help but ask," Sabine started, talking loud to make sure her voice is heard in the wind, turning to her left, looking at him "how Thrawn could be so dangerous?" Ezra isn't sure how to comment,
"I'm honestly not sure, but as a governor, he's powerful, even now. I only want Luna's wellbeing."
"Do you love her, right?" Ezra answers by nodding. And with a deep breath, feeling it is the right time to tell, and he didn't want any secrets between him and her, he proceeded to tell Sabine about a wife and two kids he lost. He admits not ever having anything owned to them, not remembering their names only but 'Luna', which also weird.
"I remember I had a good life. However, I don't remember the details. I don't remember the name of the woman I married. I don't remember my son's name either. I did not remember my daughter's name until I met Luna. Her name was also Luna."
A few seconds later, when she could comprehend the amount of possibility of this situation, Sabine patted his shoulder and said "That's freaking crazy."
As they spoke, they had already entered the Capital City, and minutes later arriving at the orphanage building.
"You know, maybe after Luna, we could visit Jacen and - we would see him. I haven't seen him since summer."
"Of course," Ezra replied, "I think I would like to talk to him."
"I'm texting him right now, so he would know we're here."
//Sbn505/hey Jace, what's up?
//Jac77/hiya auntie, im good, happy bday
//Sbn505/Thanks dear, I and Ezra arrived in the CC, what about we meet this evening?
//Jac77/is it going to be a double date?
//Sbn505/No. we also aren't dating right now.
//Jac77/I approve him. He dances so well.
Sabine rolled her eyes. Dance?
//Jac77/im available all day, I sure would like to see you, auntie.
//Sbn505/ok I will text you after we are done.
//Jac77/GR8. love u.
Sabine laughed at the text, Ezra looked at her. "Jacen says he's available, we could meet around. He also wrote me GR8."
"Hilarious guy." Ezra big grinned. As they walked inside, Ezra met a familiar figure, Zeb Orrelios, and they greeted him.
"I definitely would like to think this would end as I hope." Zeb joked, winking at Ezra. Sabine smiled, but totally not understanding it.
"Mr. Orrelios was the one that suggested if I would like to adopt Luna."
"And you're going to?"
"It's her decision."
Ezra remembered to specifically ask somewhere private to talk to Luna, and Mr.Orrelios agreed. There was an empty classroom with musical instruments in, and Ezra absent-minded walked over to a piano,
"I used to play the piano well but now-", he grinned, playing a note, Sabine was watching him, seeing the details about him. The coat was fitting his tall and slim figure well, dark blue jeans matching it, he looked nicer than usual.
They stayed like that, looking at each other for few seconds, smiling. Ezra too, enjoyed her company, as he was feeling so.
"Hey, how come I never noticed your hair?"
"I was wearing a helmet?"
He laughed softly, but mostly at himself. "You look great. G-R-8." That made her smile again.
Sabine walked a little closer, looking at the instruments around her, "my superpower is painting." Ezra smiled. "You mentioned."
"I was very good. I aspire to be that woman again. Maybe, Jacen could tell me about her."
"I would like to hear about her, too."
Just as he said these words, the door opened and Luna walked in.
"Hi Ezra," she smiled. Her eyes scanned the room and she saw Sabine. "Oh," she breathed - momentarily forgetting to exhale.
"Oh." she said again, not knowing what to do, turned to Ezra, "What happened?" understanding quickly.
"Hi Luna," Sabine waved, feeling excited suddenly, noticing the teenager is excited as her.
"We thought how good it will be that you meet Sabine too, Luna this is Sabine - sorry I forgot to introduce you - well, because you know, Chopper told her everything -"
Ezra started to talk faster as he always does when panicked. But Luna cut him, smiling and feeling empathy for the man.
"Oh I see." she quickly turned to Sabine. "I'm so sorry to totally freak you out... You didn't have to come here. I-"
"No, it's okay I wanted to meet you too,"
"Really? I mean - sorry - now that you are real..."
Sabine looked at her, Luna blushing a bit she confessed. "... you look more beautiful seeing you right here in front."
Now Sabine blushed. "Uh, thank you."
"Shall we sit, girls?" Ezra was totally lost, he thought this meeting would be easier. They sat, Luna, sitting next to Ezra, Sabine in front.
"We don't want to hurt your feelings, so Ezra agrees" Sabine started, "but blunt honesty is what I am good at." She takes a good breath. "But before that, would you tell me how you started to see me in your dreams?"
"The night I decided to escape from the hospital, before meeting Ezra." she started to tell. Ezra was hearing that first time. "Sometimes you are awake but you see dreams."
"Daydreaming?"
"I saw your eyes in the dark and your voice talked to me. The right tone, I'm hearing right at the moment. You called me 'Luna, where are you?'"
Sabine breathed in. "that's... well, not okay."
"I know."
"What about the dream?"
"It was the first night I slept here. I saw your face. This exact face you are looking at me."
Sabine was looking at her surprised, big amber-brown eyes.
"That's my eye color, too," Luna added.
"Oh, I brought the sketch with me," Ezra added, reaching to his coat pocket, and showed a folded paper to Sabine.
Sabine eyed the sketch longly, as Luna spoke softly. "The odds are - I know them all. It's not that I am hoping you're my real mother," she added "But I always trust my instincts - I think I always did even before losing my memory and my family."
Sabine looked up at her face, and Ezras face too, biting her lip. "that's my face." she agreed. Her looks returned to Luna. "My only pregnancy is Adrians, my son, he's 9. Well - I never aborted or birthed or miscarried before. You cannot be my child. There are millions of people who have the same color as your eyes. If you want, the ultimate solution is DNA testing, but I know that's impossible because I trust my instincts too. Luna - I'm - I'm not her."
By the time she finished, she was trembling. "I'm going out for a bit." and she ran away from the classroom.
"So, blunt honesty was great, until it wasn't?" Luna murmured. Upon hearing it from Sabine, Luna couldn't help but tremble slightly, as she watched the woman run away. Ezra squeezed her right arm trying to give a bit of strength, not knowing what to do, he chooses to stay with Luna, thinking Sabine needs time.
"How do you feel?" he asked.
"Relieved. Sad. Unsure. Misguided by my heart."
Ezra, literally, couldn't find more perfect words to explain it, looking at her in awe.
"It turns out I'm good at poetry as good as drawing." Luna smiled and hugged Ezra, him hugging back. "I have to ask her if she has a distant cousin who just looks like her." Ezra grinned at Luna, releasing the hug.
"Yeah, yes. Let's go out a bit too."
They found Sabine, near the exit door, it was raining now.
"I am sorry, I did not mean to overwhelm you," Luna said. Sabine looked at her, smiling now, "It's okay. It was an emotional moment. I'm good now."
They talked a bit more, Luna asking her the cousin thing, making Sabine laugh. Ezra observed they were chatting more relaxed and getting along better now. Sabine admitted that she would probably never leave her kid behind in a hospital, even comatose, she would wait and be there.
Later Sabine and Luna hugged and Ezra started to feel his eyes watering a little because he felt the emotions rise inside him too, so two girls cheered him up fast.
They talked up a little more and feeling it was a very emotional day Ezra could not ask Luna about the question he wanted to ask for long. After the three chatted about more, it was time to say goodbye.
Despite the fact that agents would follow them, Sabine wished to see her nephew so they departed from Luna's building and when they leaving, Luna and Ezra hugged again.
Ezra and Sabine walked together, not taking the bike, twenty minutes later they met Jacen in the campus garden - oh - he was kissing a girl. Surprised by the sudden appearance of his auntie and the guy his mom 'had to' flirt, Jacen makes a face.
"I thought you were going to text me, my dear auntie. Hi Ezra."
"Hi." Ezra did not know what to say. The other girl waved too.
"I was going to text you upon arriving. I didn't know I would find you, right here."
They hug as a greeting, and four of them walk to a small bar outside the campus.
"So, what brings you two here?" Jacen asked as they sat down. "This place has delicious gingerbread lattes," he added.
"I will take one," Sabine replied. "We have been busy Jace. Ezra?"
"Me too."
"Four? okay. Hey Ez, would you like to join me for help?"
"Ah sure." he got up and followed Jacen inside, to help him carry cups.
"What business?" Jacen asked again. Ezra grimaced, "We just dropped by," but touched his nose too, hoping Jacen understands why he doesn't say it aloud. Jacen smiles "So, you and my auntie are on the first date, and it's on her birthday, you should know you are special Ezra," he added grinning.
"Her what? It's today?" Ezra's mouth opened with mini shock, Jacen chuckled. "I didn't know, seriously," Jacen turned to the cashier, by the way, asking for a mini cake with strawberries too, and choosing candles.
As they returned with coffees and a cake with Sabine mortified - because she saw the cake - Ezra holding it an ear-to-ear smile on his face, people around them cheering because there's a birthday, worse, there were two candles on the cake and one was 3 and the other was:
"Happy 39, auntie Sabine," Jacen grinned. As they sat down Sabine whispered 'I will kill him in his sleep, with tons of tickles' to Ezra, causing Ezra to giggle.
But as they ate the cake, Sabine felt like this was one of her best birthdays.
"When is your birthday?" she asked Ezra, remembering from somewhere they are the same age.
"June 21."
"What do you feel more like? Gemini or Cancer?"
"Cancer, I think." he smiled.
More hours passed and it was night now. There was nice music playing in the bar, Sabine and Ezra sitting next to each other and looking around the people. Jacen was dancing with his girlfriend, Fiona, as they learned her name. Sabine had her face blushed pink because she had just laughed about a memory she told Ezra, about Jacen being a noisy baby.
And years later how Sabine found out Adrian was more rebellious than Jacen, completely forgiving her nephew about all the situations she's been in.
"Funny how I look back all things happened, and somewhere inside, I know none of them are real." She whispered, sobering from laughs. They looked at each other at the moment.
"No matter what, it's real for you."
"You think so?"
"You just got tears from laughs." he grinned, Sabine too.
"That makes it real for you," he added, suddenly feeling like he should wipe a tear from her cheek but not sure how to. His hand was up - near her shoulder, but feeling something like insecurity, he stopped.
"Huh?" Sabine asked, looking at his eyes, batting eyelashes. She wiped the tear from her cheek, smiling and instinctively hold his hand.
It was like one of the moments when two hearts start to beat in sync, and they both leaned in for heated, soft, wet, and tasty lips.

my cutie pies just kissed!- 🤣🤣

Chapter 28: 19.5 ABY Part 1
Summary:
yoooo, I'm back
Chapter Text
19.5 aby
A modified space yacht named Divergent entered the Lothal system. Inside Luna piloting and Sabine next to her, teaching her to fly around, Adrian watching a holo movie in the back, Ezra is already here, meeting Lando and Han Solo.
They communicated to the ground and a landing permitted. With Sabine's guidance, Luna landed the ship with success, she clapped her hands and Sabine kissed her head, "Now let's find dad".
It was a troubled time, galaxy at war again, but neither the adults fully informed the children about it, however, they were aware of it. Three of them reached the controlling building, Ezra already walked outside to greet his family. Adrian gave him a kiss on his cheek hugging his neck, he held his boy in return, "aye put me down" Adrian complained.
"Who landed the ship?" he asked Sabine, she put her right arm around Luna's shoulders, as Luna proudly smiled. Only at age 14, she was capable to do many things. An artist, a musician and now piloting skills. Her parents were so proud of her.
They entered the building. The planet was their home and it was threatened but this time the enemy was... well, confusing. Predators, yes. They only attacked to kill but often they would turn their enemies into one of themselves, which was terrible as dying.
Galaxy was surrounded by vampires. And garlic did not help any. As Ezra and Sabine were talking to Hera, Jacen, Zeb, Alex, Lando and Han, and Luke Skywalker, another Jedi like their dad and uncle Kanan, Luna and Adrian were getting bored.
Adrian asked Ezra if it is okay to wander around. He knew the building was secured and Ezra would feel where they are through the force connection to both kids, he gave permission to them to walk around. Kids went away with Chopper and now it was time to continue talking bitter things.
Luke could not help but shed a tear as he remembered three of his students were bitten and transformed as vampires. These creatures were almost impossible to kill. Only cutting heads off or ripping the hearts was the solution. Jedi were luckily able to feel them in the force. Vampires usually preferred to attack at night. Sunlight did not kill vampires immediately but it made them weak, 3 - 5 hours of getting direct sunlight would kill them.
Vampires came from the outer rim, where the condition was worse. Ex Empire forces were under attack too. Their main topic was just that: their old enemy, the most successful tactician they battled, Thrawn, was in desperate need of help. Ezra received the distress call only 6 hours before. And he wanted to help him. However, Lando and Han were saying no.
Meanwhile, Thrawn's forces exited hyperspace and came to Lothal spaces. Luke Ezra and Hera called Thrawn's ship. The Jedi sensed the vampires in the old imperial cruiser Chimera. Ezra started to fear immediately as seeing they are outnumbered now and he sensed there were another two ships with Chimera.
"Uncle, I sense approximately 45 vampires in total." Jacen turned to Ezra. Jacen had encountered them before, actually, he was the first Jedi to encounter a vampire, on Jakku, four months ago. That's how they learned their strengths and weakness. He was the first one to say 'if a vampire finds a shadow to stay hidden under, could live up to 8 hours without going indoors'. He had escaped from their deadly trap in luck, now he just healed fully.
Ezra winced at the memory of how his not-official padawan was bleeding in front of him and still yelling at Ezra to start the engines of Divergent.
Thrawn at the same time told them that vampires were here followed them in hyperspace and had attacked them. Luke did not want Thrawn to land on the ground, but Hera Sabine and Jacen cleared him to land because Chimera cannot jump in hyperspace due to heavy damage. Hera and Sabine communicated with the ground and air forces so if there were people who lived in Chimera's landing area, they would be evacuated asap. Meantime Thrawn was ordered to land away from the population, near the old factories.
Ezra sent a help signal to Kanan, explaining the situation, then he ran to the hangar to get a speeder, to go near Thrawn. He remembered Sabine was upstairs tho, he ran upstairs first to see her.
"Hey," She ran to him, embracing him lovingly but it was a short hug.
"Go get the kids, and get away, with Divergent, please pl-"
"No - What about you? I'm not leaving you - no" she stopped him talking, and pecked his lips with a quick kiss.
"They are three floors down, looking at old medals and heroes," Ezra said. "I will catch up to you," Sabine eyed him curiously - no not curious, maybe worried -
Ezra then kissed her, a bit longer and passionate. Sabine nodded and he ran fast. Lando and Han were already there, getting their speeders too.
"I just talked to Leia, sent her a distress call. She's sending help fast." Ezra nodded but that would take time too.
Ezra was distressed, feeling that having the battle on Lothal was not a good idea, although he could feel Sabine had found the kids - as he rode to where Thrawn landed - then he immediately knew vampires were also coming to the main building. He called Sabine and told her to they are most likely surrounded. He also called Hera but they already started to protect the building. He wanted to drive back, help his family but then vampires started to attack furiously. Thrawn seemed hurt, breathing heavily.
Ezra managed to kill a few vampires, not having any good feelings about the slaughter he just did, went near Thrawn, luckily he wasn't bleeding anywhere. Han and Lando were shooting the vampires from their heads, they seem to fall down but not dead.
He saved Luke from a nasty vampire woman, as she was showing her teeth to Luke in a creepy way, threatening to bite him, Ezra slashed lightsaber into her heart and she died in the next second. Luke said "thanks Bridger".
He reached to Thrawn, carried him with Han, and put him behind Han's speeder.
His heart felt like squeezed hard when he felt Luna falling few meters down somewhere, unconscious but he could pinpoint her location through the force, she being alive and actually away from vampires as if she lost her balance and hit her head. Sabine was already going near her. Lando felt something about Ezra, seeing his face, and without asking he punched gas even more.

On the other side of the planet, Wanda felt like this was the perfect place to live her dreams, her husband, Vision would be back with her also she could rescue her sons with the powers she doubled. But the planet was under attack. Wanda felt a strong magical connection but not a way she could recognize.
"I feel something" Luke murmured to Han, having the force concentrated face. He was holding Thrawn, as he groaned in pain, helping Thrawn to stay awake. His ribs broken, even breathing felt painful. Luke has concentrated on the force again, trying to sense its origin.
"I think we will get help, it's already here."
"I really want to have faith in you," Han replied.
Ezra also felt the same strange connection but dismissed it from his head. He only left few kilometers from his family and they needed help. He knew Adrian was safe in their ship, with Chopper guarding, and Sabine had found Luna but she was in a heated fight with a vampire. Ezra managed to stay calm and the vampire hit Sabine and she literally crashed to a wall but fastly igniting the blue lightsaber she owned, and with adrenaline-pumping into her, she started to attack.
"We almost there" Lando shouted.
>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>
Wanda was able to sense the attack of the wild creatures, and also another connection to the people who seemed to fight them. Feeling the pain of hurt people and dead ones, she decided to end it.
"No Wanda please don't," her husband begged. She looked and saw Vision.
"I will help them." She said.
"This isn't the right way." Vision said. "I know what you're about to do."
Wanda looked at Vision with soft eyes and looked at her hands, red magic glowing.
"They need me. I will do my best. It won't be like the last time. I promise."
She raised her hands and red glow magic found a way in the skies.
"I will hide us from these creatures. We will have this whole world for us." Her magic started to work.
Sabine just defeated the vampire by beheading him. 'Luna' she thought immediately and run to her.
She was where she hid her when she found her decided she cannot carry a 45kg person while running away from vampires - a small room and hid Luna there - after destroying the entering panel. Now she ignited her lightsaber again and cut through the door in a circle shape. It was hard metal, therefore entering lasted longer than she expected. When she entered, the lighting wasn't enough to illuminate the whole room, so she couldn't see Luna on the floor she left her.
"Luna, where are you," she tried to ask in a calm voice. Panicking wouldn't help them.
Then she saw Luna moving two meters away and she heard her groan.
"Hey, I got you," she dropped to her knees to look at Luna better, holding her. Luna was awake but fell unconscious again.
Chapter 29: Sabine
Chapter Text
As they regained their breath from the kiss, which was more passionate than he meant to, Ezra feared the reaction he would get but Sabine did not push him away. As they parted their eyes met, both blushing pink. Jacen and Fiona came to their table, Jacen whistled something and winked at them, Ezra knew he saw their kiss. That could go worse, right?
Sabine chuckled looking at him. "What happened? Is there something on my face?" Ezra asked smiling.
"No. You look perfect. Maybe my saliva on your lips." Ezra grinned at her answer.
"No, I was joking. I just never noticed your eyes like this. Deep, dark blue eyes. You are beautiful you know?"
"Am I beautiful?" he asked.
"And these adorable long eyelashes and looking at me..."
She wouldn't use the word 'love' yet, they only kissed like three minutes ago. 'Why he looks at me lovingly,' she meant to ask. It was too early. She just wanted to enjoy their good time together.
Deciding to let go of the topic she just let her head on his shoulder, they listened to the music, continued to hang out together - and kissed more too.
Hours later, past midnight, they reached in front of her house. They had held hands all the way and were no longer afraid to be more intimate. When they get out of the vehicle there was another passionate goodbye kiss, 'oh he is really good at that too,' Sabine turned her back when she was at the door and winked at him, waving. Ezra waved too but he didn't get on the speeder, waiting for her to go home, he was gonna stay there till she went inside.
Sabine got the key out and entered - She saw Hera's face devilishly grinning next to her face, Sabine scared.
"YOU KISSED!!!!!! You really k-!!"
Sabine pushed Hera back inside, silently praying he did not see her, turned her head to Ezra, seeing him waving again as he started the engine and he went on.
She closed the door. "What's wrong with you?" She yelled but not loud.
"Oh my, you have to tell me everything? You kissed!! It is official!!!! Tell me now! - how was it? Is he a good kisser? Did your tongues meet, or did you do anything else?"
Hera now grinning so much, her cheeks hurting and red but she couldn't help it.
"We kissed and we didn't do any - oh Hera I mean why are you asking?"
"I need to know - okay tell me more what was his kiss like?"
"It was a kiss."
"Oh, dear. You just pecked?"
Sabine had her cheeks pink. "No. Of course not"
"Okay, what was it? Tell me!!"
"We definitely did the tongue thing," she admitted shyly.
"Ohhh, okay, so that's hot and that's so good. How is he?"
"He looked fine. Dressed nicer tho-"
"Ugghh I don't ask that. Was he a good kisser??"
Sabine turned red now. "Yes," She whispered.
Hera looked so happy, having a blast. "It is a good thing!! Sabine, I'm so happy for you."
"Really?? I mean, I am excited too but-"
"There's no 'but'. Unless you don't feel okay around him."
"No," Sabine admitted, now more sure about her feelings. "There's a thing about the way he makes me feel -?"
"Wet?" Hera suggested, Sabine glared deadly stares Hera laughed loud.
"He makes me feel safe even though I don't need it. I just get the vibe."
"Told you before. Totally family man."
Sabine's mood dropped low visibly, remembering what Ezra said. Hera held her both shoulders.
"Hey. It's all past now." hugged Sabine.
"Well, a good guy like him deserves all the happiness around," She said.
"Sure he does," Hera replied, smiling. "Now both of you have that second chance."
They talked about more mundane things, which Hera had now formalized by calling it the 'Thrawn gossip'. Sabine refused her sister's coffee offer and went into her room and put on her pajamas.
Lying on the bed she started thinking about Ezra but stopped herself, 'no way girl, you pervert' so she tried to control her thoughts but was a little unsuccessful.
She wished she had invited him here or spent the night with him, but this time it would have been a rushed relationship. She didn't really know what to do, she was restless as she fell asleep.
The next day it was time to see her psychologist for Sabine. Actually, she'd been seeing the man since she first visited the hospital but this time her appointment was in the morning. After saying goodbye to Adrian, she started to get ready. As she fixed her hair she noticed there was a message for her.
//BRDE4/ good morning sweetie
She laughed, immediately liking it.
//Sbn505/ Good morning to you too, sweetie
//BRDE4/ are u busy?
//Sbn505/ No,
She didn't know though, if he decided to invite her, she would prefer evening hours.
//BRDE4/ im coming to your place got breakfast for us :)
'What', she thought and panicked for a second, but then texted an affirmative reply.
//Sbn505/ im waiitng
Uh, she had typed fast. Grinned at herself, she changed her blouse, wore something more bright color.
As she heard the sound of the familiar engine, looked from the window. He truly was there, holding something in his hand. She opened the front door and invited him in.
"I was passing by. I thought I would see you first, maybe we'll have breakfast and - sorry, am I too much?"
Sabine smiled. "No, you're not. I'm definitely hungry for breakfast. Thank you."
Ezra looked relaxed a bit and flushed pink. He had bought bagels and sandwiches from Hondo.
"He's creepy though," Sabine said. "Every time I visit him, he tries to sell me something else. Do I even look rich?"
"He's a gambler, no one can trust him ever," he added, "but he's good at what's doing." He showed bagels.
They laughed and ate.
"Oh, I almost forgot," Sabine gets up from the couch they had been sitting on and eating. "I'm going to the hospital. Am I late?" she checked chrono.
"Are you ok??" He looked immediately worried.
"No, I'm okay. I am okay now. I am seeing this psychologist..."
She didn't want to explain anything, yet anyway. Not that she didn't trust Ezra, but it was her problem to deal with.
"Okay, I will drop you."
"No, not necessarily, it's just ten minutes walking."
But Ezra was already standing grabbed his jacket. "My shop is near the hospital, it's really nothing."
They spent only two minutes on the ride.
"Okay, this is the hospital," he added, looking at her sweetly. Sabine couldn't help but say
"It was a short time for us."
"Yeah, I know. When I will see you again?" Ezra felt like his heart is a butterfly, ready to fly.
"When you want it. I mean, when you're interested."
"Tonight, at 7 pm?"
"Good," he breathed. They grinned at each other.
"It feels like being in high school or something like that," Sabine said. Ezra grinned. They embraced closer, hugging more close. Just holding close, stayed few more seconds more.
"I will text you," Sabine said and kissed him. He immediately kissed back.
"Good luck," he waved.

"So, this is what happened, my side of the story."
Wanda was sitting in front of him and there was also a blond man. Thrawn was in their living room sitting on a couch. The couple was sitting on the sofa.
"Did you know before causing this, and allegedly saving us, that our memories would change?"
"No, I didn't." She confessed honestly. "This is the only place I can be myself and be happy."
"Your happiness is destroying... our past."
"How?" She asked
"My acquaintances, no let's say friends, they are suffering greatly although they have no idea. One man believes the worst has happened to him, he lost everything he loved."
Wanda looked at her husband, trying to figure out.
"Honey, it cannot go like this. You should stop now."
"But, I was careful." Wanda turned Thrawn, looking absolutely shocked by the information.
"I don't believe it. I did everything for everyone's best interest." She was getting her eyes filled.
"If I stop this magic, my whole life you see here will be destroyed, again."
"So you are familiar with the feelings how my acquaintance feels right now?"
She nodded, but then her eyes opened wide, and continued to talk.
"But if I also undo the spell and the creatures will attack you again? How you will be protected?"
Thrawn answered confidently.
"True, they are bloodsuckers. But let that be my problem to solve. Thank you for the tea."
He walks away from the door, not giving a chance for Wanda to talk but only nods to her with his head. She got the point he meant to say.
Walking through the street he was other families happily hanging out, some people visible in the window, a man watering flowers. All these were under control. All the planet was under control.
"Impressive," Thrawn murmured to himself. Could she be greater?
A black speeder car was waiting for him, the top of the speeder was covered for any danger but hardly necessary now he thought.
He entered the car.
"Is it all, Governor?" a blond man asked.
"Yes, agent Kallus. Time to go home."
32 HOURS LATER
Zeb Orrelios talked to Luna in a corridor and told her there will be a poetry competition and she should prepare. Excited, she calls Ezra via schools holonet. He accepted the call from his shop, so very excited for the news he just heard and he showed her new plants, introducing Luna his new 'babies'.
Luna asks about his life and his face turns pinky, she asks about Sabine, by his reaction Luna knows he is very happy. They both smile and laugh at each other, it feels like they are together, not 180km away.
In later hours, Zeb and Alexandr meet at their house in the Capital City, finally, lovers seeing each other again after hours and hours of work. Alexandr hugging his partner, his lover, his best friend, feels like his energy drained by the emotional turmoil he has seen.
"What's going on Alex? You've been tired before but not like this.." Zeb asks, massaging his shoulders, Alex moaned.
Zeb does not actually expect a government secret agent to spill some tactical secrets, just because he received a relaxing massage, he's only asking the question to make sure Alex knows someone is always by his side. That someone is Zeb.
But this time a shaken Alex tells about where did they go and accidentally says it is a witch thing.
"I'm sorry I shouldn't have told you," Alex replies. Zeb is the only man he trusts with his life and what he just said would always stay between them. No, he now worried fr his love's mental state. As he was worried about his own.
Zeb is unable to function properly but he knows magic, witches, and sorcerers are not logical nor real. He just hugs his lover tight, wanting to protect him from disturbing thoughts.
Alex relaxes in his arms and they eventually go to their bed and fall asleep.

Summary:

Chapter Text
Ezra arrives at Sabine's home at 6:50 pm for their dinner date, they texted during the day and Sabine invited him home.
Hera and Adrian also there, he waved at Ezra and said he has homework to finish but he would later join the adults.
With Sabine arriving from shopping, they all have family dinner together like a big family. And everyone has cool memories to share.
"Do you think the agents are still after us?"
"No more, how many days has it been?"
"The address of the house we live in is also known."
"If agents knock on our door, I will open it and invite you."
"Why? I never open it."
"They came to me, not disrespectful guests."
"That situation was a little different, Ezra."
"Still, I was scared."
"How's Luna real? You talk to her all the time, but you don't tell them."
"Not much has changed. Ah, she was participating in a poetry contest."
"Wow. She's got a talent for everything."
"She's really special. I don't know-"
"I don't think there is any news about his family."
Ezra shook his head negatively.
"I wish the agents would investigate him instead of looking after us."
"I'm sure they tried. Come on, is it that bad?" Sabine asked.
Hera and Ezra looked at Sabine.
""You're so innocent and so beautiful.""
"No, stop it."
""You are the spring flower blooming in my garden.""
"What is this?"
"The lullaby my father sang to me."
"We thought it was a lullaby."
"We can call it girls a date song."
Ezra started laughing.
"I'd rather turn it back on the agents, than talk about Cham."
"Was he a bad father?" Ezra asked.
"No, quite the contrary. We just-"
"Fathers are very important in girls' lives, Ezra. Their support shapes a girl's destiny."
Hera nodded in agreement.
"I'm sorry it happened like this," Ezra said.
Hera shrugged.
"Maybe I'll see him someday and -" he nodded. "What am I talking about? Our memories have already been lied to."
Sabine and Ezra looked at each other.
"Then let's talk about something real, Hera."
"For example?"
"The night I met Jacen." Ezra started to smirk.
"Whoever I asked on campus they knew Jacen and they gave me at least five different bar names, 'Jacen could be over there tonight'."
Hera started laughing.
"You found us though."
"The nudist tattooists brought me there."
"WHAT?" The two women laughed.
"I've never really seen anything like that. And they were driving very fast."
Sabine couldn't drink her juice from laughing.
"I thought Hera was drunk and hitting on me until she said we were being followed."
"Is that so?" Sabine raised an eyebrow, grinning.
"I couldn't think of anything else at that moment" - Hera started laughing - "Ezra, you're a great guy but we have zero chemistry."
"Sabine, you're next."
"What should I tell you?" Sabine grinned.
"Whatever you want. Tell me about Calrissian."
"No Hera."
"If this Kanan proves useless, I'll marry Calrissian, Ezra," Hera said, surprising Ezra and Sabine both.
"I think Calrissian is gay," said Sabine. Ezra looked at them both in disbelief.
“If I'm getting mixed signals, they're walking both ways,” Sabine said.
"Who is Calrissian?"
"My psychologist."
"Sabine never tells me they talked to her."
"Hera, don't start again, please-"
"Then what are the sisters for?"
Sabine began to laugh.
"Calrissian is a successful psychologist, but a lecherous man. But he is proud of my progress," she says.
Meanwhile, Adrian had joined them, Sabine prepared a plate for him too, his mind looks like somewhere else. And besides eating, not Sabine or Hera convince him to talk.
Ezra decides to turn it into a game and Adrian spills the tea: teacher Luke did not come to school today and he was on sick leave. But as he was leaving to go home, Luke had found him outside of the school, given him a paper note to deliver Ezra.
"Me?" he shocked asks.
Adrian nods and hands him the paper. Ezra reads the message with Sabine and Hera looking at the paper too. It's written "Trust Thrawn. Find Sabine. Kanan is searching for you."
The only logical explanation is telling Adrian that his beloved teacher lost his mind, but they cannot even say it. Sabine decides to put Adrian to sleep now.
"I don't want to go to school tomorrow. Mom can you-"
Sabine knew the best was not to let the boy stay behind his classmates but this was rather important too.
Sabine lets him skip school for one day.
"Would you like to drink coffee?" Hera offers as Sabine leaves the kitchen with Adrian. He nods.
"Adrian is a kind soul," he observes.
"He's very sensitive actually," Hera says. "He's born that way and we don't push him."
"Dyslexia?" he asks curiously.
"We had tested him for that too, but no. He's normal. He's very empathetic and sensitive. A perfect kid in this imperfect world." She offers him a mug to pour coffee. Sabine entered the kitchen saying he's finally sleeping but terrified, she looks at the writing and says the thing.
"Maybe this teacher Luke is awake?"
"Ugh I'm so tired of people getting awakened and here we are gossiping about them." Hera explodes emotionally - Sabine giggles at her.
"It's not like we can do something about it."
"No. We can. Why not call Jacen and tell him about Luke? Maybe he knows him? He could be a friend."
"Or maybe Luke is an enemy too, well done Ezra. Either way, I am texting Jace."
After Hera texted Jacen they tell Ezra that Kanan is a real person, he even has a holonet profile, but he hadn't had a profile until recently, which is a mystery for another day. Hera shows him his picture too. Brown hair, but some whites and grays, tan skin, teal blue eyes, he looks like a charming man, probably 50 years old, his face completely resembles Jacen. Ezra cannot help but feeling something familiar about the man.
They talk more and more about the paper written and eventually get tired. The most awful theory is, finding out Ezra and Sabine are related, Sabine, made a disgusted face that.
"Jacen would've stopped us. He's awaken remember?" Ezra points out and they all get relaxed.
Hera agrees and decides to make a promise for three of them: if one of them awakens, they will spill the secrets, no matter how hard the consequences are. All of them promise that.
Hera says she's going to bed and leaving love birds alone. Not sure what to do, Ezra starts to explore the kitchen for some drinks, meanwhile, Sabine cleaned up dishes and looks for a holonet movie. Ezra finds a bottle of wine and shows it to Sabine, he just meant to suggest - but caused her to freeze.
Not sure where he did wrong, seeing Sabine starts to cry, he drops the bottle onto the counter and reaches to hug her, kissing her hair, embracing, and telling her sweet things. Lucky for him, she doesn't push him away and continues to wet his shirt. They both sit down on the sofa, Sabine hugs him tight and Ezra calming her.
"Do you want to tell me what happened?"
Nose leaking sound.
Ezra runs his hand on his back in a circular motion. It's as if he remembers that it calms the children down.
Sabine shakes her head negatively, but no longer sobs.
He kisses her hair.
“I'm here until everything is okay,” he muttered.
When she calms down he shyly asks where he did wrong Sabine says it's not about you, and she quietly continues to hug him, sitting on his lap. Ezra holds her and they fell asleep on the sofa.
Hera wakes up at 6 am sees the wine bottle, unopened luckily but about to make high pitched shocked noise, then she sees two sleeping figures on the couch, Sabine practically sleeping on top of Ezra, and his arms are holding her close. Hera decides to get a blanket for them and looks at her sister's relaxed face, liking the view. Hiding the bottle, she goes to wake Adrian. But Adrian protests.
"Did you forget about my mom's promise? I'm not going to school!" he turns to the other side of the bed and Hera chuckles, leaving the kid.
An hour later Sabine wakes up with an unfamiliar scent of perfume, but it's so good and realizes it's not her bed. It's Ezra, oh no, she used him as a pillow - and he wakes up too. His face is immediately red, he cannot believe he slept here, with Sabine too and she jokes
"Ugh. Weird situation. It's not like we are in bed" Sabine giggles to herself but hearing what she said she puts a hand on her mouth,
"Oh what did I say, I cannot believe it," she grins with blushed face, Ezra laughs too, not really bothered at all, kisses her on the lips.
"Yuck! Eww." Adrian exclaims, both lovers jump in surprise.
Meanwhile, Adrian protests something about vacuuming people on the lips, Sabine takes him to dress up - or anything, just momentarily away, and Ezra giggles at himself, visits refresher, and seeing Hera and Sabine are nowhere, starts to prepare breakfast.
Sabine joins him to prepare coffee, Ezra asks, curious about what made her cry and if she's wanting to share. He sees the way Sabine takes a deep breath.
"I always had thought this is my problem but I think you are involved too." she starts. "Uhm. I had an addiction problem. Alcohol. Maybe I still have. But not anymore. I stopped drinking. And those the psychologist meetings aren't for fun, I need them. It's mostly an emotional treatment."
Ezra listens to her without interrupting and when she finishes he embraces her amorously, she also complains about how she failed at her job and now she's planning to take all back, wants to be in control of her life.
Also, shares why those fake memories worry her because she's really loving her life here, mostly because she has Ezra now, and her fake memories. She better to had a job as an artist again, because that's the only talent that makes her happy.
Ezra confesses that this fear is also true about him, but he tries not to think much about it, distracting himself with his shop, Luna, and now Sabine. She laughs and they kiss again.
Chapter 32: Sabine
Summary:
This chapter is smut.
I repeat, soft smut ahead.
Chapter Text
Another week passes. Ezra is busy with his shop, Luna and Sabine. Their dates are now every day, even if not really 'date', Sabine finds comfort when she invites him, he immediately comes or they arrive at each other's places. It is a second time - the second morning she wakes up in a different but now-getting-familiar room, she can't help but groan at bright sunlight, Chrono says it 6:02 am.
Not wanting to get up she turns her right to watch the sleeping man next to her. He looks so much at ease like this, 10 years younger too, he sleeps on his face pressed to pillow, his body rising and falling with breaths.
She touches at his hair, getting slightly longer from the first time they met. This suits him too, she finds herself thinking.
She finds herself recalling last night's events. After Sabine had dinner with Adrian, she and Ezra had agreed to watch a movie at Ezra's house. Hera, on the other hand, approached the night out from a completely different angle and handed Sabine a satin underwear set that looked like it had never been worn before.
Sabine could be uncharacteristically overly shy in some situations, like this.
"Please at least keep it in your bag?"
"I won't even need it," said Sabine, grabbing the overly beautiful bra. "Also, this one's size is small for me." she rolled her eyes.
"Well then - what are you going to wear when you decide to have sex?"
"Why shouldn't we be naked?"
She tried not to imagine the scene. Especially when Hera is standing next to her. She couldn't be seen with a crimson face.
"Oh Hera, we'll talk about it when the time comes." she rolled her eyes again.
"At least get this." held out something in her hand and winked. Sabine glanced at her hand and grinned. Condom.
"I can't believe it."
Hera shrugged and winked. "Think of every possibility."
They were eating some chips while watching the movie. Sabine suddenly decided she wanted to eat something else because she liked that possibility better.
Undressing was somewhat instinctive. It depended on feeling completely comfortable and safe around someone. It was a beautiful and long-lost feeling. Like electric currents emanating from each other's lips, tongues, and hands, they reached their hearts.
Sabine didn't want the feeling to end as her heart beat faster. It was as if a dragon hidden inside had awakened. And in a lack and hunger, she passionately kissed the man before her.
They must have been made for each other, Ezra had the same hunger.
They had to somehow get up and go to the bedroom now because of the sofa… oh whatever.
It was somewhat unimportant. There were other things that mattered, such as what they had just experienced.
In each other's arms, on the sofa, they had both experienced a more personal and intimate pleasure at the same time, and Sabine now knew how her own name sounded on his lips, oh right at that moment.
Maybe they'd go to bed later and continue from where they left, Sabine wasn't thinking much. She looked at herself in the sink mirror and stuck out her tongue. She felt at peace, washed her face cleaning makeup, used Ezra's toothbrush.
As she was about to open the door and walk out, she came face to face with Ezra—actually, her nose was actually at his shoulder height—they started kissing again, and Sabine found herself on the bathroom counter.
She pulled Ezra to him and suddenly grabbed his butt, who was also naked. She wanted to continue what they had started on the sofa, Sabine threw herself into his lap and Ezra carried her into the bedroom, they were still kissing. They slammed on the door of the room, and Sabine chuckled, reached for the doorknob, and opened it.
In a few seconds, she found herself on the bed. Ezra got closer to her and they started kissing. Spreading her legs, she brought him closer to her own body, keeping him in place, so very close to her, with her legs. It was a completely different and magical moment when they got along by looking at each other.
Sabine lifted her head a few inches, biting lightly on Ezra's lower lip, and her tongue found her own mouth.
She let him in at the same second. She was already wet and ready, and they found a rhythm, and ohh she was seeing the stars!!
They were so close, both of them. Breathless, very hot. But this was very good. Sabine reached into his hair and Ezra moaned. They didn't seem to last long - they really finished at the same time. They couldn't find words to say, but their eyes were enough.
Ezra pulled out and threw himself on the bed beside her. Sabine turned to her right. Then she moved closer toward him a few inches, Ezra immediately hugging her with his arms. They stayed like that for a few seconds.
"Are you hungry?" said Sabine suddenly. Ezra narrowed his eyes. Sabine lifted her head and looked into his eyes.
"You know I ate something else instead of chips."
His cheeks could still turn red, even after what he had just done, Ezra started to laugh.
Sabine threw one leg over him. One of the hands hugging him also cupped her bottom.
"I could stay like this forever, but my stomach might growl."
"Hera will cut me in pieces if I starve you." Ezra grinned and sat up to savor the moment for another time. He walked into the kitchen without wearing anything. Sabine got up and followed him.
There was chicken in the fridge, they warmed it up and ate it. Then they continued to taste each other's lips. Sabine chuckled loudly as his lips landed on her neck.
“I guess that's my soft spot,” she said, still laughing. They went on a little longer.
"So, we don't care about the movie at all," said Ezra, leaving Sabine to turn the holo screen off. Sabine chuckled again but yawned at the same time.
“I think we can get some energy,” Ezra said as Sabine reached out to kiss him.
"Good idea, but..." she started kissing him passionately. Ezra was also reciprocating, but he suddenly found himself in her arms, and they walked into the bedroom.
There was no need to get dressed as they went under the covers, they both lay down but then hugged each other. Sabine turned the other way and Ezra was behind her, her chin on her shoulder. She reached for his hand and wrapped it around her waist.
She felt a soft kiss in her hair and they muttered "good night". They had slept peacefully.
Then he opened his eyes, looking at her. He smiled.
"I'm so jealous you know," she murmurs.
"Why," he grins.
"You are waking up like a princess, so flawless, not groaning even if it is Monday, just wake up and get out the bed, flawless again" - she laughs at last words, and her sentence is cut because Ezra hugged her tight, tickling her before their mouths meeting. Sabine puts her arms around his body, kissing him back passionately, making out.
It's something they now do without any hesitation, they actually crave kisses and touches, they both noticed that, so any affection is very welcome.
As they separate, they feel the urge to go to the bathroom, getting off the bed. She did not bother wearing clothes yet.
Later, Ezra started to prepare breakfast, he didn't feel Sabine walking so for a heartbeat, when two hands hugged him back around his middle he panicked a little.
"You scared me," He said smiling.
"Were you not comfortable? I won't do it again."
"No, a little adrenaline is okay" he laughed, a little leaning back to her, Sabine hugs him tighter.
"I can get used to waking up like this, forever," he murmured, not meaning anything, just feeling the moment.
She hummed in agreement, then released him.
"What you are preparing?"
"Orange juice and fruit salad." Sabine nodded.
"I like pancakes but today I'm not hungry for them," he explained. Then he turned to face her.
"I meant I'm not hungry for food."
She raised eyebrows smiling devilishly.
"Well you naughty boy it's bad for you because this girl is hungry like a wolf," Sabine woofed tickling Ezra, he laughed high pitch noise, defenseless.

"Well you naughty boy it's bad for you because this girl is hungry like a wolf," Sabine woofed tickling Ezra, he laughed high pitch noise, defenseless.
"Okay, I will prepare something for you, just don't eat me, bad wolf." She smiled goofy and walked to the bedroom to get dressed. As she put on her T-shirt, her eyes saw the amazing view, looking out the window.
"I never noticed that your window looks at the lake." She said with a louder voice, making her voice heard. Ezra, in the kitchen, hummed in agreement.
"I used to visit the lake most summer evenings, just to watch the sunset," he said as she entered. "This house's location is good for view." Maybe he should have dressed too.
She agreed and turned at him, seeing the fruit salad, taking a piece of apple into her mouth, with her two fingers, and unconsciously licked her bottom lip. Ezra wiped off an image from his mind, a very bad one.
"Wait, do you have honey? Let's put on that." She suggested.
Before Ezra could find it, Sabine already found where the honey was and grabbed it, but she stopped.
<<<<< “There wasn't even one day I have ever stopped thinking of you, always wondered what you are up to. What are you doing, what are you painting? With who do you talk? I imagined the planets you could be on. I tried to guess what color could your hair be. I thought about your laughs too. I missed you so much.”
>>>>>>>>>>>
"Hmm," Ezra said. Sabine was eyeing the salad. Ezra watched her frozen figure and said "maybe we shouldn't pour honey, honey?"
<<<<< “Marriage? I am okay with that. No, I really want to get married. But why I'm confessing my love for you, to a priest?” A loud laugh followed. “Cant I just put the ring on your finger?” Sabine laughed too but Ursa had her eyebrows risen “Don't you say you just suggested eloping with my daughter?” Then all three chuckled.
>>>>>>>>>>>
She blinked and gave the honey to Ezra.
<<<<< “I am not sure about teaching Luna. I should stay as her dad, not her master. Kanan did a good job with me, why can't he do it again? Yes, I will surely ask him.” Hera’s voice followed then. “Does it really matter who teaches the force? I thought force-curriculum is all same.” Ezra turns to her, grinning. “Yeah but – you get my point.”
>>>>>>>>>>>
"What's going on 'Bine?" He asked. Okay, he was afraid she gonna cry again. She looked at his face.
<<<<< They are lying on the bed, Ezra snuggled into Sabine, hugged her tight, Sabine hugging him back, his head was on her shoulders, Sabine felt him move his head and he was looking into her eyes. “Oh I love you so much,” he said for the 100th time. She caressed his long hair, touching his cheek. “Me too love... Hey, do you sense anything yet?” she asks smiling. Ezra frees his left hand and touches her stomach, tried to sense something, “no. Not yet.” But he's not disappointed really. He lets his hand stay there, caressing her skin. “I still can't believe it, I'm going to be a dad again,” he whispers. They kiss passionately.
>>>>>>>>>>>
"I'm -." She stopped herself. What she was even going to say? What was their topic? Oh, honey. Salad.
<<<<< He was shaking, but there was a smile on his face. “I am honored, Leia. But I cannot just take your son to – to what? I don't even know what to do? I am not a teacher like your brother.” Ezra tried to resonate but Leia smiled, there was a kid next to her, she has held his shoulders with both hands. “I will always trust my brother. However when it is about the dark side...” she and the boy winked at each other “... you have slightly more practice.”
>>>>>>>>>>>
"Sabine?" Ezra asked whispering, was it something he did? Just five minutes ago they were happy and giggles around and now...
<<<<< “I cannot stop it! Dad!!” He punched the brakes but Adrian was late to do so. The speeder had not enough space from the obstacle – a crate filled with fruit and though he wasn't riding fast, Adrian crashed to it with a bang. Ezra fled from his place with fear. “I am fine. I feel fine!” Adrian yelled as Ezra came near him, helping his kid to his feet. “Uh-huh – you are fine.” He commented, his whole right side of his tiny face covered in blood. He pulled him to his arms and started to carry him. “I am fine. Dad put me down ple – ooo that's blood,” His fear was heard in his voice. “Don't worry, you will be fine, it's alright.” He said in a soothing voice.
>>>>>>>>>>>
"Hey, something's wrong?" He tried asking again. Giving her space was working on her usually but he was curious too.
"I -" she started to talk - "I need to be at home. But I want to-"
Ezra then held her both hands in his, gently squeezed, and tried to get closer. She did, walked another step to him and Ezra embraced her, holding her. He felt her hands rubbing his back. They stayed like that for a minute.
<<<<< “I have a bad feeling about this,” Luna said, hugging her dad as he kissed her hair. “Don't go to Jakku.” “There's nothing to be afraid of Luna. You know me and Jacen are very capable of protecting ourselves.” Ezra shrugged, releasing her. “Unless you felt something in the force...” “Which it could also be misleading.” Sabine finished his sentence, winking at Ezra. “It's just a feeling there...” she said, looking at dad. “I will be careful, I promise,” Ezra said. “We will come home in one piece. Like we always do” he smiled. Regular checking-outs were seriously no danger to two Jedi. Sabine nodded, trusting her husband.
They indeed return to Lothal in one piece, but their bones were broken and so many wounds to heal. Because of the vampires.
>>>>>>>>>>>
Sabine had her eyes filled with tears, she pushed Ezra back.
“Are you okay, you are okay.” She panicked for a moment but – wait – it was long ago.
"I am okay.” He said, looked confused. Sabine touched her hair, nervous, her eyes searching for something.
“How can I help you?” he tried to ask. She inhaled a big breath to calm down. “Ger dressed, we are going to Hera.”
Ezra dressed up fast and grabbed their coats and asked again .
"Are you sure you're not eating?" the salad looked good but Sabine didn't want it. They exited in hurry.
Ezra managed to keep his face neutral but inside he was going to cry. What just happened, he didn't know it. It was a wonderful time they been together, more than 12 hours they spent...
A few minutes later they were in front of Hera and Sabine's house.
"Okay, we are here." He parked the speeder. “Do you think she's awake?” he asked.
Probably not Sabine thought. “She an early bird.” Said. Getting her keys out, they entered, Ezra followed.
Hera was surprised to find his sister and Ezra at this hour and Sabine’s face looked white as marble. Thinking the worst thing - they probably fought, Hera reached for Sabine and hugged her tight.
"What did you say to her, you heartless motherfucker?! -“ Ezra gasped covering his mouth with his hand, he did not expect THAT swearword.
“Hera slow down, we came to talk to you,” Sabine explained. “Uhh.” Hera looked softened but still had deadly glares to Ezra.
“Okay, what's this about, tell me now. And fast.”
"Uhh," Sabine did not know where to start. She turned her face to Ezra. “Can you wait for us in my bedroom, I will talk to Hera privately first and then -"
“But why??”
“I feel like I need her opinion on something.” Ezra seems lost in her words. Hera too, but then she commented “If I assume you managed to get more close last night, he should be here.”
“Exactly,” Ezra agreed. Sabine held his hands.
“But this is more serious.”
“I am serious too. How you can think I will judge you?”
“I didn't think you would judge me. I don't know how to tell you-“
Hera got up from the chair she'd been sitting and walked over to the coffee machine. “Why don't you tell us while I prepare coffee and Ezra helps me prepare breakfast?”
“Sure,” he walked to the kitchen.
"I'm awake Hera," Sabine said. Hera gasped dropped the mug shed holding but it didn't break. Ezra looked at her.
“Is that been it?” he asked, seemed relieved. “I thought something worse.” He smiled.
"Oh my," Hera whispered. "How - what - wait," she holds her hand and pulled to the sofa, leaving the coffee - "tell me. No secrets, nothing, as we promised. I'm not judging. We are not judging-"
"Do you mean it?" Sabine asked, now started to cry silently. Ezra had followed them too, sat on the sofa, Hera wiped tears with her fingers.
"It shouldn't be so bad. Remembering I mean. We are a family and we will go through it together." Hera explained smiling. "Now tell us. All of it."
“It started with memories but now I remember everything.” She said.
“Please not the thing I am fearing,” Ezra whispered.
“No, we are not related.” Sabine smiled between her tears.
“Oh thanks, space!” Ezra exhaled the breath he had been holding.
“But – well, we are married.” Hera too started to feel emotional.
“Really??” Ezra asked. “Like seriously?” She nodded.
“That's so amazing,” Hera exclaimed. “You are so lucky to find each other now!”
“And that makes... Adrian is yours too.”
“What?” Ezra stopped, his eyes opened wider. “You're serious.” She nodded. Ezra felt so many emotions build inside him. He hugged Sabine.
“That's not all.” She said, meanwhile she continued to rub his back, not releasing the hug.
Hera got up from the sofa, returning to the coffee machine. “Whats more? Oh yes. After you finish your amorous hug to your husband, tell me about Kanan.”
Sabine actually wanted Ezra to remember but she wasn't sure when he would, so she better tell him before. "It's Luna. She was right from the start.” Sabine said smiling. “You know, right now I could tell her everything but –“ she stopped because Ezra gently shushed her, touching her lips, then kissed.
“Hey, whenever you want, we can leave to see her.” He said.
“Well, but I have to think about her mental state too,” Sabine explains. “We adults are happy but-“
“I don't think she's going to react negatively,” Ezra said, still smiling. “I think she's going to be happy and react well.”
“I hope so. This includes you too.”
“Me? What about me?” Hera wanted to smack his head. Sabine just rolled her eyes.
“We – we also –“ he felt dizzy, lucky he was sitting. He was going to cry. “We have two kids.” He was able to say, Sabine nodded. They hugged again, he was crying but he didn't care, he felt like she was his love, even though it was so early to use love word, the fact he just learned they were married- – yes he loved Sabine, remembered or not – in his arms.
“I love you.” He whispered to her hair. Sabine's heart filled with warmth and emotion because she knew it was so sincere, he spoke from his heart. He broke the hug. “I love you too.” They kissed again. Ezra was feeling so emotional. He had a family right here, right there. He wished to be awake so he could remember everything.
Hera invited them, as she poured hot liquid into mugs. "What do you want to do? What's next? Talk to Luna?"
"I don't know. She has to know but are we going to say today?”
“Too bad Jacen is off-world,” Hera said.
“Yes, he is a problem solver.” She smiled. Hera grinned too.
Ezra just recovered from the biggest surprise of his whole life. He didn't know what to say - but he knew what to ask.
"How we ended up here? Sure you must remember that too?"
<<<<< Vampires are strong, that's no secret. Some aren't even muscular but they have great strength. With a punch, you could see a hole in a wall.
When the creature hit Sabine, her breath went away with huge pain. Almost he broke her rib. Almost. If anything were broken she would feel the pain and not be able to move. But fearing for her kids' survival chance made her get up, maybe adrenaline pumping into veins, she gets up, vampire eyeing her, mocking her efforts with one look.
Oh, she wasn't going to let the creature lay a hand on her baby, even it costed her life. She ignited the lightsaber she made for herself, 11 centimeters shorter than the old green one, although both being her favorites. This new one was for close-up fights and glad she brought this.
>>>>>>>>>>>
“I just pray we made it somehow alive.”
“Ohh that bad.” He said.
They continued to sip their mugs then Adrian woke, walked to the kitchen in PJs, sat down on the chair, and looked at adults. Ezra could not help but stare at the kid. He really indeed looked like a perfect mix of them, whereas Luna was almost Sabine’s twin.
“Do I have something on my face?” Adrian asked, noticing Ezras looks.
“Uhm... beauty?” he suggested, grinning. His eyebrows rose in surprise.
“Finally, everyone has officially lost their minds, none of you are sane,” he commented shaking his head, in 'whatever' mode.
“Wait for a little. Someone finally remembers something," Hera came sitting next to Sabine, opened a space map from the holo tablet. "We don't know the name of the planet. Tell me where are we, please?"
Sabine nodded. "Look for the Lothal system. We were there last time"
"We?"
Sabine nodded again. "Me, you, Ezra, Jacen, the kids, Zeb, Chopper, Luke."
“Are they talking about my teacher Luke?” Adrian asked, leaning to Ezra's ear. He nodded. Adrian got more closer to his ear. “I once called him Puke, he heard me say. Now he's lost his mind. I will apologize to him when he returns. All these things, I hope, did not happen because of me, right?”
Ezra could not believe what he just heard but tried to focus on Adrian. Luke – Puke? Eew.
“That's definitely not your fault Adrian, but it's a nice move that you want to apologize.” He wanted to hug Adrian. “I’m sure he's going to be happy to see you behaving kindly.”
To his surprise, Adrian was the one hugging him, even for a few seconds. Hera winked at Ezra.
Sabine looked nervous. “I hope he's out in space by now."
Hera looked confused. "What's everyone with space?" as Adrian and Ezra spoke, Hera and Sabine were talking about Luke.
Sabine rolled her eyes. "More than Ezra, I want you to remember the past."
"Yes, I want to remember too, but clearly the less you want it, the more it finds you," Hera explained. "Jacen isn't joking, right? That I thought him everything?"
Sabine smiled. "You were amazing, brave, and a leader. Hera smiled too. Sabine started to write a message on holonet. "What are you doing now? Texting Luke?" She asked.
"No, I remembered Zeb is at the orphanage with Luna. At least she's somehow safe. Even Thrawn is a friend, I want her to be in the best hands."
"Is Zeb is a friend of yours? Ours?" Ezra asked.
"Sure. Just trust me. Everything will be clear."
Chapter 34: Unexpressed (XIII)
Chapter Text
Zeb started the day with a very interesting electronic holo message.
The woman who had recently come with Bridger stated in her message that she was an artist too, and was asking permission to come today to help Luna, with Ezra. There was another text message on the Holo computer, this time his boyfriend Alex. He was asking where he was. Zeb frowned, he couldn't understand why Alex asked this. The same person had kissed him on his way to work this morning and wished him good luck.
Like he does every day.
“I'm at work,” he texted. Then he added. “A slightly different day than usual :)” wrote.
He glanced at the screen for a bit, but Alex hadn't answered yet. He stopped waiting for him and looked at the other message in front of him. A voice in his heart told him that this woman could be trusted. Zeb found it really important to take care of every kid in his building. Searches for Luna's family were fruitless. There was no family who lost a child with similar characteristics to Luna. With no news from Capital City, they expanded the search. It would take a lot of time.
Deciding not to wait any longer, Zeb sent word to Luna with one of the messenger Droids. After history class today, the two of them could come if Luna wanted to.
After he finished texting, something caught Zeb's eye and he flashed Sabine's picture on the holo computer. It was his picture on his Holonet profile. Just to be sure, he also brought Luna's picture on the side screen, and then he couldn't believe it. Eye colors and cheek-chin were almost the same. Luna was growing up now, but would she grow up with similar looks ten years from now? After all, how could this happen? Was Sabine her mother or her cousin?
He felt that there was something very different about whatever it was about. He rewrote to Alex.
"Off-topic, if I sent you a name, could you search her and her known relatives and find someone who gave birth to a girl 14-15 years ago?"
This time he got an instant message from Alex. "Anyone with a criminal record can be inconspicuous."
Zeb grinned. "Not so this time," he replied and forwarded Sabine's profile.
The response was alarming. "Oh great, so the team is getting together." Team? He reread the message.
"I'm investigating Luna's parents." he wrote again. But Alex already knew that, he had mentioned it to him a few weeks ago.
"Okay, you got it. Her name is Luna Bridger."
Around 3 pm Sabine arrived at the school with Ezra, and she was nervous as hell. Luna was waiting for them, she was smiling and Sabine couldn't help but hug her, tighter than she meant to, but couldn't let go easy. Ezra meanwhile, watched the interaction with heart eyes.
Luna hugged Ezra again, rising on her toes and these two embraces lovingly, this time Sabine's heart filled with warmth. She looked into Luna, studying her and Sabine frowned.
Luna tried to figure out what happened. “Uhm did you... lose weight?” Sabine asked, but then she realized what she said and now she cannot change the subject or take it back...
“I think I did in the hospital,” Luna answered. “I'm eating very good here.”
“Hmm,” Sabine replied and then smiled. “Oh forgive me. Mother's perceptive eye never changes.” She smiled, hoping this little lie worked. Luna smiled bigger.
“I might have known about your – this new relationship, well - congratulations,” she said grinning from ear to ear.
“Thank you,” Sabine blushed a bit, couldn't find a word other than that. Luna was about to go through very few children do, her parents - already in love - but not remembering it - and falling in love again.
She turned to Ezra, as Luna guided them the school and the garden, Sabine whispered. “I don't think I can tell her today” she nervously spoke. Ezra tried to comfort her “It's not important when. Just wait for the right time.”
“And then what? How will I know the right time?”
“I believe in you –and the universe.” Ezra smiled at her. “We will tell her eventually.”
Meantime they did actually talk about painting. Sabine now truly remembering the past, knew how Luna was skilled just like her mother, Sabine re-instructed a few tips on painting, Luna's eyes widen and immediately forming a bond with Sabine.
She wished it could last long until she remembered eventually.
Three of them talked about more painting and one art gallery in the Capital City and decided to head there. When Luna jumped on the speeder Ezra asked.
“Hey, maybe – maybe one day in the future I teach you how to ride?” Her eyes widened.
“Really, would you do that?” “Of course!” he replied, but could not continue ‘of course, you're my daughter’ his eyes met with Sabine’s and he knew she understood it. Okay, he still did not remember his past but now no secrets left. He already loved Luna, so what.
On the other hand, Luna spoke about the poetry competition and listened to their ideas on pastoral poetry literature. Ezra then admitted he only used poetry and literature to woo the girls he initially liked, Sabine smiled knowingly this was correct. In a way.
They reached the gallery, walked through well-lit corridors accompanied by the distinctive 'museum scent', beautiful paintings displayed on the walls. They ate ice cream after the museum. Time passed so fast, and after the sun set, it was time to goodbye to Luna.
Sabine hugged her a few seconds more, honestly, she did not want her to go to that building again, however, Luna did not complain about the hug at all. Then Ezra came with an idea.
“You know, the weekend is coming. You won't have lessons. Would you like to spend it with us - with me again? And this time we'll be free, we'll go anywhere.”
“It'll be great. I would love to.”
“Ok, I'm looking forward to it. I'll come to pick you up tomorrow night.” Luna grinned. “I can't wait too.”
After saying goodbye and waving, Ezra turned to Sabine and, “Uhm we okay right? We will see her on the weekend.”
“Yes, we are. I just wanted to speak to her but the right time never came.” She shrugged. “And I am nervous. She should stay with us all the time.” She looked at the building Luna entered. “What if I was separated from both?” she asked in disbelief, turned to Ezra, and hugged him. “Who could be this cruel?” tears were threatening to fall, Ezra hugged her more, rubbing her back, and kissed her head, wanting to take away her sadness.
Upper floors, Luna was watching the couple from the window and she frowned at crying Sabine. She wondered what she talked about to Ezra and what made her so sad. Was it about Luna? She felt like there was a topic, a secret untold whole in this meeting and that made Luna feel unease. She was only a teen, not dumb, so she could sense emotions. She wished, at least, Ezra could trust her.
“It's so weird,” Sabine was calmer now, they were riding back home. “I know me and I only met less than a month ago, in this reality, we didn't know each other. We haven't met. Heck, I thought I was alcoholic,” she laughed herself. Ezra laughed too, but he was more angry than amused. “Someone or something played with us,” he agreed with her.
“Lucky me, I found you,” Sabine said. “Can't wait for you to remember our life.”
“Can you tell me a little? Just some, tiny spoilers.” She laughed. “Okay... Since the moment we met, you always tried to flirt with me, impress me, compliments... no, not poetry.”
“Did I?” he grinned. “But it worked right?” “It worked 10 years later, yes.” She grinned back.
“Wait a minute,” he turned to her momentarily, but his eyes were on the road. “Were we children, when we met?” She nodded.
“We were both Luna's age.”
“Wow...” he laughed. “So, what changed in later years?”
“Uhm... Many things for sure... But at some point, we realized we were meant for each other.” She replied. His eyes widened with love and happiness.
Ezra was feeling so emotional. He had a family right here, right there. He wished to be awake so he could remember everything.
Chapter 35: Kanan

I've been waiting to write this chapter and the time has come. Enjoy!
Chapter Text
Around late night hours they returned but this time Sabine did not let go of his hand. “Are you inviting me?” Ezra asked. She nodded and took her finger to her lips, meaning to be quiet. They both entered the house. “Hey, clear your mind from dirty thoughts,” Sabine warned him whispering. Hera and Adrian were sleeping.
Careful not to make a noise, they took off coats. “Are you hungry?” Sabine asks.
“No,” Ezra says.
“It's been a long day” Sabine smiles and they sit on the couch together, cuddling. She felt a kiss on her neck, she giggled, arms bugging around her.
She remembered how he always did that...
‘No, no, no, you dirty mandalorian, stop it's a voice in her head reprimanded her. Ezra looked into her eyes. “What happened?”
“Oh, nothing. Just trying to think something else.” He smiled devilishly
“Why not think what you're thinking?”
She giggled. “You don't even know what is my thought... wait, do you?”
“I wish I could.” Sabine put a holo movie to watch and Ezra leaned back a little on the sofa so that she lay down on the seat with her head resting on his chest, and they watched the movie.
She must have slept during the movie, because she woke up, in her bed. She was wearing her yesterday-old clothes, and the quilt was draped over her, she felt she had no socks on her feet.
She turned his head to see Ezra staring at him. “Good morning sleepy” She smiled. “We always wake up like this, you know?”
He moved a little closer to her in the bed. “Do we wake up in other ways too?”
“Not since - We sleep at least with underwear because of Adrian's habit of going into the bedroom, no knocking of course.”
Ezra chuckled. “Oh no,” he said. Sabine continued. “Luna wasn't like that, she was truly sleeping like the dead. Sometimes you'd think that somehow the Force was rewarding us for such an angelic girl, and I'd say you're so silly and mess your hair up – and kiss you.”
They kissed again but he stopped. “What's the Force?”
“Oh boy, I ain't telling you, that's really not my place to explain.” She laughed but Ezra was confused.
“Hey, I am curious about it. Please tell me.”
"No, I'd leave you to someone more skilled at this, seriously believe me. Trust me when you say 'I'm the last person to explain this to you."
Ezra pursed his lips in a childish way. “Fine, I believe you.”
“Until you remember.”
<<<< <<<< << >> >>>> >>>>
After receiving the help signal, he started jumped in hyperspace for Lothal but along the way the force connection had been cut.
Kanan started to worry at that point. Lothal had no ylasamari and he knew it wasn't like his family was dead. He tried to prob Ezra through force but didn't work.
What was going on?
R6 model astromech droid beeped letting him know in seven minutes he would get there. They were going fastest they could be in a Y wing.
Truly, 7 minutes later exactly, the longest 7 minutes of his life, he exited hyperspace, preparing himself to see Lothal Planet buy...there was no planet to see.
“R6, where are we? Did you enter the wrong coordinates?”
“No, it's right.”
“Well then, where's everyone?”
R6 beeped in disbelief. “Its Lothal system coordinates!!! I did nothing wrong, Kanan.”
He checked from navi computer. They were there.
A dread was going on his insides, a nausea hit him fast. Oh no, he feared the worst now, could Lothal be destroyed like Alderaan? He shook his head, this was all 20 years ago.
And he would feel it, just like he did before... Cold sweat was running down his back, even though he knew such a possibility was irrelevant, he was very worried. He felt like he was going to faint, and he took deep breaths and tried to calm down.
He was panicked and couldn't help himself wincing, the idea of something terrible happening to Jacen and Hera would crash his heart, his dearest persons in the world, and the other members of the family too, Ezra, Sabine.
No, it could not be true.
He commed Leia thinking fast, knowing she wasn't on the planet.
“Hi, Kanan you arrived? The help I sent you will be there in few minutes no worries.”
“Leia, Lothal is gone.” His throat was dry as he said this.
“I - am sorry? What did you just say”
“I am right here, in the space. Coordinates are correct. I don't see a planet. Nothing.”
“Kanan what are you saying?”
“I cannot contact anyone nor feel them in the force.”
More planets, systems away, on Coruscant, a cold shiver went through Leia. “You are right. I cannot feel Han.... and Luke,”
“Leia, what happened? Please i - he breathed in and out, trying to stay calm - I cannot feel anyone.”
As he spoke, he saw few ships - Leia's ships - exiting hyperspace one by one.
“Your help arrived but the planet is... Hidden.”
“Can you pick any life signals? Through the force or –“
“I'm looking around there's only empty space here.” Other pilots joined their comm talk too.
“What's happened here?” Kanan heard Admiral Ackbar, questioning wildly. Leia didn't know what to do. “Retreat, please. Now. Come back here.”
“Leia we can't” - Kanan objected.
“Right now there's nothing we can do Kanan, I am so sorry as much as you are. I know, believe me I know. But I better need you here now.”
Not knowing anything to answer, lost in words, Kanan told R6 to return the ship to Coruscant for now and prayed the force for their well-being.
<<<< <<<< << >> >>>> >>>>
24 days later: on Kashyyyk planet, an old but a modified hyperdrive ship exited the hyperspace and commed to the ground, wookies guiding him to land on the ground, Jacen had stomach cramps with excitement. He wished his mom would be with him too.
Along with wookies he saw his dad, from the cockpit window, just like he remembered - two days before leaving for the Lothal system, he only thought old Lando would try to make him a partner to his local pub business.
Oh, how things have turned out, he could never imagine that.
Walking out the ramp, he saw his dad runs to him and Jacen ran to him too, they hugged each other tight and close. Kanan had missed Jacen a lot, he was his son, blood and flesh, also his padawan during Jacen's childhood. Wookies behind them felt the warmth seeing the father and son reunite after so long time.
Jacen released the hug and Kanan rubbed his back.
“Now that we are together, everything will be okay,” Jacen said, Kanan was smiling at him with warmth.
“Can you be able to take us back at - where Lothal is now?”
“The planet is actually right there. Since I was able to leave, I can find a way again.” Jacen explained.
“If you can't?” Kanan asked, not wanting to think even about that possibility, ever.
“I know I can. We will do it. Also, I received a message from Luke. He remembered too. He was searching a way back to Leia.”
Kanan smiled. “What about Hera,” he asked. Jacen shook his head. “She is still under the spell, but she believes me, trusts me. She supported me a lot. It means so much to me.”
“To me too,” Kanan replied, part of him in pain. He really hoped that everyone he left would stay as he left but, comming with Jacen yesterday, via hyperspace, confirmed his worst thought, his family forgot their old life.
“Hey, at least aunt Sabine has fallen in love with her husband,” he grinned, resulting Kanan's grin too.
"I cannot even imagine another way, she and Ezra are for each other." Jacen smiled.
“Come on, you must be tired, you spent so many days in that aircraft without showering and getting proper sleep,”
He put one arm around his son's shoulders, pulling him close, walked back to the camp area.

They were too hungry to lay on the bed as they want, but their stomachs were protesting. Sabine checked the chrono, 9 am.
"Would you like some toast?" she asked as she removed her clothes, staying with only underwear, going to refresher. Ezra nodded affirmative, also he could not really take his eyes away.
"Do you work out?" he asked blurting out of nowhere. Sabine smiled like knowing a secret. "Let's say yes." Truth is, she and Ezra were sparring jedi & mandalorian martial arts for an approx quarter-century.
"I'm going to prepare something," Ezra said. "No, leave it. I'm going to make some toasts, later," she said, as she closed the doors.
Ezra chucked but exited the room, walking to the kitchen. There he saw Adrian sitting on the chair, eyeing Ezra.
"So you sleep with mom?"
Ezra felt blushing red from the roots of his hair to his toenails. How to tell a 9 year old you are his dad?
Adrian continued to look at him like he seriously expecting an answer. Stupid Ezra, of course, he's waiting for an answer.
"Yes," he started to say, seeing his eyebrow rising he added, "in a serious way." He could smack himself right now.
Adrian continued to look at him, he looked older than his age.
"Mom is a good person, I think she's an angel landed on this world." he started. "If you break his heart like father, I will kill you."
Ezra stared in shock. "Father?"
"We never talk about him."
"Oh I see," he nodded. Adrian also got false memories. However, that's nothing to worry about now. He grabbed the chair next to Adrian and sat down beside him.
"If I ever do that, I will let you kill me." he chuckled, smiling at the boy. Adrian did not even smile a bit. "You won't have a chance of 'giving me any permission'. Stray dogs will eat your corpse and I will chew gums at your funeral."
Ezra looked horrified at the information. His mouth stayed open just like that.
"Stop scaring Ezra, he's going to have nightmares in the night." He jumped at the voice, Hera had already entered the kitchen, grinning at both. Adrian now smiled, changing the attitude in seconds.
"Did you sleep well?" Hera asked, preparing coffee.
"Yes - yes I did." he could say. "We - were chatting."
Adrian chuckled. "I was testing Ezra. He passed through," he said, smiling at his aunt. "But the threats were serious," he added. "Hence I'm not legally able to sip cocktails or smoke, I will chew gums."
"Adrian, how the hell you've had learned such things?" Hera asked.
"Hondo. He's a cool guy and... tough guy too."
"Honey..." Hera turned away from the machine and walked near Adrian. "Hondo looks like the way you describe him but he's also untrusting type." She touched his shoulder with one hand. "Just continue to buy donuts from his shop and don't really listen to him."
"But why auntie?"
"We adults know few things better, trust me. You will learn too."
Adrian pouted. "Okay, I will do as you say." He looked at Ezra, pursed his lips, and then added. "I have my eyes on you,"
Ezra looked at Hera, not knowing what to say, but she winked. At the same time, Sabine exited from her room, her hair looked damp and she dressed gym clothes.
"Morning, what did I miss?"
<<<<<<<< <<<<<<<< >>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>
They had a delicious breakfast with Adrian's humor, Sabine and Ezra's amorous looks, and Hera's comments about a match on the holonet. By the way, Ezra asked Adrian why he didn't go to school today, and Adrian explained that he didn't go because Luke wasn't at school. No one in his class was going to school.
After breakfast, Ezra said he needed to get ready to pick up Luna in the evening and kissed Sabine, and left his house. When he reached his house, a feeling told him to head to the bedroom, but when he opened the closets, he saw only his own clothes. He didn't know what he was looking for either, just if he found something that Ezra from the past had, it would be enough for him.
Jacen, Hera, and Sabine couldn't be playing tricks on him, he immediately dismissed the thought. But he needed proof, no matter what. The kitchen and living room were also tidy, there was no useless object in sight.
What was he doing? What was he looking for? It was no use looking again at things he already knew where. It was 2 o'clock and he wanted to go to the kitchen and prepare Luna's favorite donuts, he was going to take some with him, maybe they would have a picnic somewhere looking at the sunset.
He took the necessary ingredients from the drawers and refrigerator they were in.
Then everything started pouring down on him like torrential rain.
Although the rays of the hot sun did not seep through the tropical lush forest, the intense humidity made it impossible to breathe, and each step felt like torture for the walking individuals. Despite the thirst, their mouths were not dry enough to stop arguing with each other.
"All because of you. Stop telling me more lies."
"Hah, you just amuse me. Why the hell did you do it?"
"Oh, so should I let you destroy my planet?"
"Look Bridger, what you need to understand is that we have to come to the terms with each other in order to survive right now."
"No, I would never agree with you. Not after all you've done?"
"You could have let me die, but you didn't let me killed to those creatures... Why did you do that?"
"Maybe because I'm not as bad as you? Sometimes I wish I was. After all, you've done to us, my friends-"
"I've never had a personal grudge against you or your small rebel group. I was working for the empire and considering its best interests. And now, there are two of us in this nothingness."
"You mean empire's best interests?" Ezra couldn't believe what he was hearing, he didn't mind that Thrawn was taller and built muscular, he aimed and punched him in the face in anger.
>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>
Thrawn started to speak as they were going to separate their ways, they were on his home planet. "You know, it could have been worse." Ezra said.
"Worse has already happened if you remember two years ago."
Ezra pursed his lips first but later smiled. "You are right. But you weren't a good companion either."
"Never. I cannot pretend to be someone I am not." He was smirking at Ezra.
Ezra laughed.
"We have come to a point where you should not use the phrase 'we made a good team'."
"Oh, it had never crossed my mind."
"If you say so. Don't get in trouble." He smiled at Ezra one last time and walked away, Ezra turned his back to him, walking back to his ship, time to get back - to his home, if he could.
>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>
The planet was all water planet, with lots of small islands on it and it was raining constantly. The ocean water evaporated with the heat and fell again as rain. He had built a small boat for travel and had learned to swim to reach closer places. The inhabitants of the planet, a species with gills resembling winged apes, lived both in water and on land. His ship had been here for a year. He lost a lot, but he also gained new friends, skills.
His biggest pain was Hal and Vittoria. This 'friendly' new species, fortunately, had brought food and bandaged his broken arm and right leg. He didn't think much of treating himself, leaving it to time and the creatures he had just met. While all this mayhem for survival continued, he watched them dig graves for his lost friends and bury them. He had never cried for Kanan, he couldn't even properly get out of the shock. But this time he wept until his eyes went dry for his two dead friends. By the time he collected himself, he had also physically recovered.
One of the survivors of the crash was his newly built lightsaber. He spent these days meditating and devoting himself to the force. The days turned into months, but his hope wasn't waning. The shattered ship, Hal's Marsilio, was in too bad condition to be repaired and spare parts were not available on the island. There was no civilization on the island. There was almost hostility between the red-colored monkeys and the gray-colored monkeys. Luckily this solved the problem as well. He learned their language first, then their stories. He was able to ensure the coexistence of both races, even if only temporarily.
It was an afternoon, the brighter the sun could shine through the clouds. In about three hours it would be night. He lay on his back on the surface of the endless sea. Small waves crashed against his bare body. He was having one of those moments when he looked up at the sky and fell into dreams. Sometimes he wanted to forget what year it was, even his own name. There was only one person she wanted by her side if she wanted him to. Moreover, this dream did not have to come true.
He really wanted her to be happy and healthy. She could have loved another and been with him. It wouldn't break his heart.
He was so focused on his own dreams that when he saw another ship in the sky entering through the atmosphere, he blinked, thinking that his brain and eyes were playing tricks on him, confusing his perception. The ship was moving away, but then it turned and descended rapidly.
So the ship was real, his mind wasn't playing tricks on him, the ship was really in the atmosphere, someone was about to come to this little planet in the middle of nowhere. Moreover, it was about to land on his island. To the island where his clothes were staying on the beach...
As if he had been electrocuted, he suddenly started to move and began to swim rapidly towards the beach. While he was alone here for over a year, he did not want to expose himself to the individual who came here with a ship. He put on his poncho over his wet skin, and the loose-fitting trousers he had been wearing since he arrived on the island. He was already lean and had lost some more weight on the island, the constant swimming was a good exercise, his muscles looking more defined. When the red ship, the small craft, landed on the ground, he felt the shock of his life, because he knew who was coming.
The ramp descended as the ship's doors opened, and he suddenly wondered what he looked like. His hair was in a ponytail, but it had been a long time since he had showered, he was combing his hair with only fingers. He hadn't trimmed his beard for several weeks. Wandering the galaxy for two years with Thrawn, he knew that he had grown 20 cm taller. While hanging out with Vittoria and Hal, he was physically mature enough to be an adult now.
There were two figures coming out of the door side by side. The shorter person, the young woman, caught his eye and she started running towards him.
He took a few quick steps himself. As he got closer, he could discern some changes. The protective armor on her, as before, bore traces of her unique artistic skill. Her hair was short and brown, but as she got closer she saw that the front of her hair was longer and dyed dark blue.
When the young woman was less than two meters away, she slowed down and stopped. She had a big smile on her face.
The individual in the back was less hasty than the other, but she too came with quick steps.
He looked at both of them. They had grown and changed. But their eyes were the same. The first to arrive, Sabine, seemed to stop and stare at him.
"You're wet," she said in surprise. Then she grinned. All three of them started laughing.
"I was swimming." Then he got a little more serious, his feelings no longer fit in his heart - because the person he missed most was in front of him. This moment had to be real, not be living a dream.
Sabine threw herself into his arms. They hugged. It was real. His arms were not holding the air. Sabine was truly by his side, breathing, smiling. His poncho was damp, and Sabine's outfit could get wet.
They stopped hugging. And Sabine punched him in the chest.
"What you did is unforgivable! How could you leave us? We needed you so badly! I needed you! I wanted you by my side so badly—"
She punched again, but this was lighter. Ahsoka touched Sabine's shoulder. "Hey, everything's fine. We found him." She smiled. Then she hugged him too.
"You've caused us so much trouble. We've been looking for you everywhere."
"Really?"
Sabine nodded. "Of course we did. You idiot. How could we forget you?" She smiled and continued, eyeing him. "Wow, you've grown so much, you've changed so much," she said.
"I still feel the same." he was able to say. It could even be said that he was more changed psychologically.
Ahsoka smiled. "I really want to get you out of here right now. I won't be able to rest until I leave you with your family," she said and continued. "We missed you so much."
<<<<<<<< <<<<<<<< >>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>
Ezra lunged for the holonet tablet, confused and shaking with adrenaline, but he had to stay calm. Now he understood what kind of shock those who awakened from this spell were in. As he was about to call Sabine, he saw that the holonet had been disconnected. 'Again?' he said angrily. Who was doing this? It couldn't be Thrawn, why would he have meticulously planned this after 20-odd years - the scenarios about Thrawn were ridiculous.
If there was no holonet, he would go to Sabine's house himself. He reached for his jacket and the speeder's keys and opened the apartment door - face to face with Hondo.
“Oh,” he was able to say, the pirate, the outlaw, and everything else he couldn't count.
"Oh, Mr. Bridger I was coming to you too. I don't know at all, I really don't care, I'm just a simple baker you know..."
"What's going on?" Ezra asked, not wanting to invite him in.
"You don't know much about these things, don't mess with it anyway, I'm not in a problem with you, you're a good client of mine - just - just got a nice down payment. Something to keep you home tonight."
Before Ezra could understand what was happening, his vision suddenly darkened. He could sense Hondo laying him on the ground before the darkness engulfed him.
"A harmless shock. You'll sleep for about 10 hours. My employer... is very generous. I couldn't skip that."
He couldn't keep his eyes open. How could Hondo do this? But - he couldn't remember. He continued to speak to Ezra formally. He was not awake!
"I'm closing the door. Good night, Mr. Bridger."

Notes:
I am back 🥰 😘 🥰 😘
Because of my insistence on completing it with 40 chapters, I felt that there would be major shortcomings in the story. I will post more chapters, maybe shorter, but I will have explained everything I had in my mind.
Chapter Text
4 ABY – bonus
Many years ago, seven months after the Battle of Endor, Ahsoka and Sabine found Ezra, alive and well, also taller, his hair longer, and he had a beard, causing Sabine to add more pervert things in her deepest desires.
Sabine still eyed him cautiously, not giving in her feelings yet. She asked about his adventures first and the conversations never changed the subject. First two years he had to stay with Thrawn. He had to be friends with him and Thrawn actually taught him a lot.
After Thrawn was able to leave to his planet, their old makeshift vehicle crashed in an outer rim planet. Ezra met with many creatures. He had searched ways of helping them, but sometimes they attacked him furiously, Ezra continued to communicate with them and learned their languages, solving problems between populations, making other friends, finding a very old Jedi temple, and building a new lightsaber, blue crystal this time.
Sabine handed him his green saber but Ezra hesitated.
"No Ezra this is yours."
"I don't know if it really mines, anymore."
However, he took it back.
"Thank you. For taking good care of it."
"Saved my life a lot," Sabine smiled.
Ahsoka called over for Sabine and said they are almost landing on Yavin planet.
Ezra's nervous glares were able to feel. Sabine instinctively grabbed his arm. She felt hard muscles and tried not to think where else he built muscles.
"Don't worry we will all be fine."
"I'm not worried," Ezra started to say but sounded like a lie. He trusted Sabine and Sabine was smiling him back.
"Don't worry. We all missed you."
Hera was already waiting for them outside. Sabine explained to Ezra that she didn't say anything to others and completely wanting them to be surprised.
Ezra felt his cheeks blushed, replied "maybe we had to tell," but Ahsoka grinned and says this will be better.
Hera thought they were just passing by to get supplies and fuel as always and actually, she was tired to stand, little Jacen awakened at 4 am not letting her sleep ever since but seeing the familiar ship, she smiled, thanking the force that her friends are back alive.
As they walk onto the ramp, Hera gasped loud when she sees the tall man in the middle.
"So, did you miss me?"
Hera shouts his name and runs up to him and gives him a big hug. He hugs her back, finally feeling at home.
"Where have you been??"
"Somewhere and everywhere" he replied.
"I will have a long long time to tell you all about it. I am never leaving anytime soon," Ezra grinned as he saw Hera and Sabine's deathly glares.
"By soon, I mean next 70 years of course," Hera hugged him again with tears on her face.
"Come here you... stupid... cute..."
Sabine and Ahsoka were grinning. Ezra met Zeb inside too, hugging tight and his feet left the ground.
"You got taller," Zeb laughed, wiping his eyes with happy tears. Agent Kallus was also there - well Alex now, as everyone called him with his name, and Zeb announced they are engaged a year ago.
Sabine then awkwardly smiled as she remembered something, looking at Ahsoka and Hera.
"Ezra, you were a surprise to everyone here but I think we have a surprise for you too." She said. Hera winked.
"Is it a good surprise?" He hesitantly asked. The last surprise he got was a droideka, besides greeting Sabine years later, her being alive, healthy, more beautiful, and single.
They walked to the 'Ghost' ship, it looked the same as he left but something was different, he couldn't choose. Oh, paints!
"I painted and repainted all the walls," Sabine explained, seeing Ezra looking at her art.
"They are so great," he noted, his hand is on a loth cat drawing. "Sorry, I mean they were already great."
Sabine to his surprise did not mock him and smiled more.
"So you weren't looking for me here, just looking at drawings?" Ezra's jaw-dropping he shouted
'Kanan!!'
Kanan just exited from his room, they hugged each other, suddenly Ezra feeling emotional.
"How it's possible," he said in a surprised voice looking between Sabine Hera and Kanan.
"The force has many gifts," Kanan replied, smiling. His eyes were back too, he was seeing, his teal blue eyes shining.
Hera then explained. "We found him in a bad condition after you left. But he fast healed and joined us."
Ezra gives Kanan another big hug, Kanan realizing he's almost tall as him, a grown man and a strong Jedi, he felt proud of him.
"Wait a minute," Kanan looked at others, "I guess I'm not the only surprise for you," Kanan said, winking at Hera. Ezra put a hand on his mouth,
"No way. What more could be?"
He followed Hera, walking a little more. Hera pointed out where to look. Ahsoka was crouched down next to a child, a boy, with green hair. Ezra watched him lifting a tiny rock from the ground and Ahsoka clapped her hands congratulating and the boy giggled. He felt like knowing but looked at Hera for confirmation.
"He's a force sensitive," he marveled.
"That's Jacen, our son," she nodded. Kanan was smiling too,
"Come on. He's so curious of you," Kanan said, putting his hand on his shoulder, Ahsoka waved at them, and Ezra truly didn't know what to do. He walked next to the kid, Jacen, he smiled at Ezra and he instinctively crouched down like Ahsoka, getting to the same level as him.
"Hi Jacen, nice to meet you finally," he said.
Jacen smiled at him but his attention was on his dad.
"Hey, remember the times I told you about Ezra?"
"Yes, my uncle Ezra."
Ezra felt a warmness fill his heart even more.
"That's him."
"Ohh," Jacen excitedly looked at him, but he tilted his head and said, "but you are so different than holo pictures??"
Ezra laughed. "I knew I should've shaved the beard."
"But as your answer, I grew up," Ezra explained laughing and wiping his eyes with one hand.
Jacen grinned. "You are a Jedi too like my dad,"
Ezra nodded.
Then instantly Jacen threw himself at Ezra. Surprised by sudden affection, but he hugs the kid back.
"Oh wow," Kanan said. "He's not so social normally," he smiles.
"He must have liked you," Jacen releases Ezra's neck, grinning at his dad.
<<<<<< <<<<<< >>>>> >>>>>
Sabine was worried that the Holonet was out of use again, but whatever the malfunction, this time it took an hour. Not days.
And the holonet used to work all the time.
"Did you say something," said Hera.
"Holonet...it was not malfunctioning at all."
"Hmm," Hera was trying on a winter jacket in front of the mirror.
"Where did this jacket come from?" she asked. "I never knew it was in my closet."
Sabine eyed Hera and the familiar jacket. "That belongs to Ezra."
She looked thoughtful. "He hasn't called me at all today."
Hera took off her jacket. "Anyway, this jacket is mine now. Ezra and I will talk about it when we all remember." she grinned at Sabine.
"Will you cheer up a little? Please? Will you stay at Ezra's tonight?"
"We didn't talk about it," said Sabine. “But I miss Luna already.”
Sabine picked up the holo tablet. "I miss our comm-talks too. It's hard to text from here."
"They do sound cool."
At sunset hour there was still no response from Ezra, and Sabine was very worried. Hera could no longer keep her sister calm.
"What do you want to do, are you going to go knock on Ezra's door until he opens it?"
"Exactly."
Chapter 38: Sabine
Chapter Text
They told Adrian to stay at home and they got out and started walking. Sabine shivered as she walked across the bridge, a bad feeling inside her.
Before the sun had set, they arrived at the apartment where Ezra lived. When they rang the bell, there was no answer.
"He's not at home. He's gone to get Luna." Hera rolled her eyes. "I told you."
“No…” Sabine said, glancing at the parking lot next to the building. His speeder was standing there.
"What he’s going to do if he hasn't left the house yet? Will he pick up Luna at midnight?" Hera looked surprised.
"Ezra!!" Sabine pressed the bell until her thumb went numb. "Stop Sabine-"
At that moment, an elderly husband and wife came out of the building, opened the door, and said good evening to both women. Sabine and Hera greeted as well, holding the opened door, entered, and went up to Ezra's floor.
Sabine knocked on the door.
"Ezra, I know you're there, open the door," Sabine felt impatient, and when there was no response from Ezra, she kicked the door with all her might.
The door did not open, but trembled.
"Sabine, are you crazy?!" Hera couldn't believe it.
"I guess so. If he's not opening the door, the only logical reason is he's in trouble." Sabine kicked the door again.
"The whole building will hear us!"
It was also strange that Ezra hadn't opened it yet despite the noise.
"He's not dead, is he?" When Hera suddenly thought of the possibility, she was filled with sadness. Sabine didn't even want to think about it. She hit the door with her shoulder a third time with all her weight and the door opened.
Ezra lay in the doorway - on the floor - Sabine and Hera crouched next to him.
"I think he passed out," said Hera, immediately checking the pulse. "Ezra, wake up, come on," she slapped his face and heard a hoarse voice from Ezra.
Sabine was staring at his hand. "He has his keys."
He had his coat in his other hand. “he was leaving the house." said Hera.
"Then he passed out." Ezra groaned again, blinking. "And at the door. Did someone come to him?"
Sabine stood up and took a quick look around. "He didn't bake the donuts. The ingredients are here, but..." she turned to Hera.
"What do you think happened?"
Hera shrugged. "Something prevented him from leaving the house. Or someone. I think he was leaving for his shop or for you, not Luna. Because he wouldn't have gone without the donuts."
Hera thought quickly, "And he was in a panic because this-"
She took the jacket from Ezra's other hand from between his fingers, Ezra making hoarse sounds again "this jacket is not the jacket for this weather."
"Is he awakening?" Sabine squatted down next to Ezra again, smoothing his hair with her hand.
"No, but he's trying. Poor little one." Meanwhile, Sabine took Ezra's keys.
"Then I'm going to get Luna. Better to have her with me."
"Sabine, think logically, they won't let Luna go out with you!"
"They'll have to," Sabine said in a stubborn tone, "someone comes and knocks Ezra out at his house, doing it with some kind of stun gun." she stood up and walked towards the door.
"There's nothing I wouldn't do to keep Luna safe. Really. Please stay with Ezra, I think he'll wake up soon."
Hera had more to say, but Sabine was already gone.
<<<<<< <<<<<< >>>>> >>>>>
She arrived in front of the orphanage where Luna lived in record time, exactly 77 minutes. She was about to rush inside, taking off her helmet and putting it on the speeder, when a beep sounded from her tablet. There was a new message from Hera.
/Heras// Ezra woke up. No problem. When Ezra feels better, we'll go to our house.
Sabine answered the message by saying ok, then went inside.
Chapter 39: Misgiving
Chapter Text
Zeb and Alex were also in the building, Alex had arrived at his partner's workplace as soon as the office hour was over. It would be very wrong to define it as a working hour, it worked even at midnight when necessary.
Zeb had asked over and over, just to be sure. Alex, who was freed from the different magic that covered the planet, explained without getting tired.
"You're saying that Luna's parents are there. But Luna doesn't remember them. Her parents don't remember their daughter either." He stretched back in distress. "That's why I've been returning empty-handed from researches all this time."
"At least they know each other now, though."
“Still…” Zeb sighed. "I can't give it to Ezra until he remembers that he has a child. There are procedures!"
"Fuck the procedures, let's talk to Luna. We know that girl, her brother, Zeb. We saw them growing up."
Zeb still looked thoughtful. "Well, let's say we talked to the girl. We even gave her to her family. How do we go back to the past? What happened to find ourselves in this situation?"
"Well... that's a little hard to tell." Zeb laughed. "Try to tell."
"We were at war with vampires-"
"Excuse me what?"
"Vampires. Vampires in the truest sense. Bloodsuckers. Then... suddenly we're here." Alex rubbed his chin. "There's something I've been thinking about, it just occurred to me. That girl may have really lost her memory if a vampire hurt her-"
"The vampires couldn't even touch her. I didn't let them. I killed them."
The two men jumped up from their seats to see who the voice was coming from.
"Sabine. You remembered too."
"Hi, Alex. Hi Zeb."
Zeb was looking at the two people in surprise. "Okay great. I understand we're all friends. There are even vampires out there. I'm very curious to learn what else I'll learn."
Alex was grinning. "She remembers Luna, isn't that great? We can hand her over to Sabine."
"That's exactly what I came for," said Sabine.
"Wait, it's not that easy." Zeb stood up. "Does Luna know about you?"
"No, and I came to tell her."
"And Luna will want to come with you?"
Sabine thought for a few seconds. "There's no reason why she shouldn't want to come,"
<<<<<< <<<<<< >>>>> >>>>>
Luna had no idea when the adults were talking downstairs while they came to a decision, she and her friends were playing a card game and having fun, and the children were laughing.
The messenger droid came up to them and told Luna to come down.
"Ezra must have come. I thought he was never coming tonight." She thought herself.
A friend spoke as she picked up her bag.
“Do you think Ezra will adopt you?” A guy asked. Luna laughed. "I literally have no idea," she started to say but then stopped like something came up to her.
"What is it?" the same friend asked.
"I am not sure. I think he doesn't fully trust me and seems to be hiding something. I'm sure it's not bad, but he can tell me."
"Adults are always like that." Her friend, who said this, made a funny disgusted face in a sarcastic way.
"I know," she said goodnight to her friends and went downstairs, waiting to see Ezra while Sabine stood there waiting for Luna.
"Great timing," Zeb muttered, someone else beside him, a tall blond man as if Luna had seen him before but couldn't remember.
Seeing Luna's smile disappear as she descended the stairs, Sabine felt a sense of apprehension. 'What if Luna didn't want to come with Sabine even when she found out the truth' Luna had truly been a very easy child and the two had never had a problem with anything, very opposite compared to Sabine's relationship with her own mother.
<<<<<< <<<<<< >>>>> >>>>>
“I want another one,” the little girl said, tugging at her mother's shirt. Sabine took another apricot from her bag and handed it to Luna.
"She ate a lot already. She'll have allergies." Ezra looked anxiously at his child eating the fruit, Luna hungrily chowing down on the apricot. Then she licked her lips and fingers.
"This was the last one, Luna. You can have more apricots tomorrow. Deal?" Sabine spoke in her soft voice. Luna smiled, showing her thumb.
"How many apricots did you eat?" Ezra asked, hugging Luna, and picking her up in his arms "Six," said Luna.
Ezra opened his eyes wide. "This is really too much, isn't it?"
"No it's not," said Luna, winking at her mother, "Mom ate too, for my brother, didn't you?"
“Yes, I did,” Sabine said with a laugh. Ezra chuckled, kissing and smelling her daughter's hair.
“Okay, I want my mom,” Luna said softly, pushing Ezra away and running into Sabine's arms.
Sabine was sitting on the couch, sat her on her knees, and hugged Luna tightly as her growing tummy allowed her to. Luna kissed her mother on the cheek.
"She hasn't been doing this to me for a while," said Ezra, watching mother and daughter kiss and snuggle.
"She loves me more," said Sabine, grinning.
"No, I love you both. But I love my mom more."
Sabine chuckled, and she kissed Luna again, tickling her kid.
"It's okay with me, I can watch you two like this, forever," Ezra said as they met Sabine's eyes, the blue eyes really lacking in jealousy and looking with love.
"Haha, you know, I deserve twice as much attention because there is another living thing inside me," she said with a grin.

"Where's Ezra?" ' Luna asked curiously.
<<<<<< <<<<<< >>>>> >>>>>
"Hera?" Ezra felt as if he had just woken up, his perceptions clear, even though he couldn't open his eyes fully, or his voice sounded like it was another human. He realized that he was lying on the sofa, and he sat up, sitting up, his hands between his head. He couldn't see clearly, but he could see 70%. That was enough.
"I'm here," said Hera, as Ezra looked toward the voice as Hera was coming up to him. “Drink this,”
Ezra drank a different kind of water, mineral water like hangover people drink.
"Hera I - I remember." He felt Hera's hand on his shoulder.
"I've noticed a bit already. Keep calm and drink this."
"I remember everything, everything. It's a huge burden."
When he finished all the water in the glass, he realized that he started to see more clearly. "I don't know why all this happened."
"Nobody knows, Ezra, and it's nobody's fault. Believe me,"
"I wonder if Jacen found Kanan? Sabine - Where is Sabine?"
"She went to Luna in your speeder."
"Thank the force" he took a deep breath.
"Where is Adrian?"
"At home, watching a movie."
"Let's go right now-he is not safe-" he tried to stand up but lost his balance and sat down on the sofa again.
"Okay, don't panic,-"
"Hondo shot me!"
"What?"
"Hondo... he's not a baker. He's an old friend. But he doesn't remember yet, and he's, you know, greedy. Someone gave him money and weapons to keep me out of the house. He shot me like he was very sorry and said I was a good customer or something."
"Wow, sneaky bastard."
"Let's go to Adrian now,"
"I don't think you can walk so I'm calling a taxi."
"Good idea."
<<<<<< <<<<<< >>>>> >>>>>
"Ezra couldn't come, something went wrong, I came to get you." Sabine took a deep breath. "But first, shall we talk a little alone?" she said to Luna, but her eyes were staring at Zeb and the other man.
“We'll be upstairs, Luna,” Zeb said. "If you change your mind, we'll see," he said, and the two of them walked.
Luna couldn't understand, why would she change her mind? What was so important, or was Ezra in trouble?
Side by side with Sabine they walked to the reading area and sat on the sofa, the fireplace was heating the room, the light was dim, two cats were lying on the opposite sofa, four yellow eyes were watching them two.
Sabine took a deep breath and began to speak. "I think you're aware of these different events and people remembering things around."
Luna shook her head. "And vice versa. I forgot my whole life."
She suddenly thought she was seeing her teenage years in her side profile. Only the hair was long and undyed, parted in the middle, and two pieces of fishtail braided.
Sabine was always braiding her hair until Luna had learned it herself.
"Excuse me, I just stared. Your hair is beautiful."
"Thanks, I did. Does it look really good?"
"I liked it very much."
Luna smiled. "Why didn't Ezra come?" she asked.
"Ezra got a little attack - oh he's fine now. Hera, she's like my sister, we're very close, she stayed with Ezra and they're going to our house now. Ezra is safe."
"And why did they attack him? Is he really fine?"
"We don't know why. He's not injured as he was put to sleep with a stun gun. Someone just wanted him not to come here today. But I'm here." she said.
Luna smiled at Sabine. "You know how nice your attitude is?"
"How so?"
"I know, I'm a child. But you're honest with me right now, talking to me like an adult, I'm asking you something and you never hide it."
"Because I cared about that too when I was your age," Sabine shrugged but smiled honestly to her. “Besides, there are other things I need to be honest with, which we sat here to explain,” she said, winking and smiling. "I'm actually nervous and excited," she admitted.
Luna smiled. "There's no need to be nervous. I'm not a judgmental person." Her eyes darted to the cats. "I want to hear the truth, no matter how annoying it may be. The truth can make me cry, it can annoy me, but I can handle it. But being kept in the dark, being lied to... it's a distrust. I couldn't talk to Ezra, but I'll tell him that too."
"Why? Did something happen?"
They looked into each other's eyes. "There was something he didn't tell me yesterday. I felt it. It never got -. You were there too. Then I saw you hug and cry, I was looking out the window."
Luna stopped. "Maybe you were the one who didn't tell me. Ezra knew and shared your secret."
“This is a very accurate observation,” Sabine said. "What can I say," she continued with a laugh, "we're really made of the same material."
"Ha?"
"Something my father used to tell me that fits our current situation. Anyway." She looked at Luna.
"Luna, the truth is - the fact that I'm worried about your reaction - you don't need to find out who your parents are at this point." She took a deep breath,
"You were right from the beginning, but as things are, I couldn't remember you. I couldn't remember my past life." She shrugged, looking like she was apologetic. Luna raised her left eyebrow questioningly.
Then Sabine continued. "Me and Ezra - we're your parents."

>> >> >> >> >> >> 8 Months After Ezra’s Disappear
The planet Lothal was spared, but Ezra was missing. The rebels were developing more successful tactics for stronger attacks against the Empire.
There was another Jedi with them, but not someone they knew, someone named Luke Skywalker from the planet Tatooine with them. To Sabine, Luke was still a child, with an infantile innocence, you could say. Still, the force was with him, and they had succeeded in the missions they went on several times. If the war miraculously didn't end in a few months but spread out over the years, Luke could gain a rank by learning things well.
The feeling of coming back home had become a classic. Hera had settled on the planet Lothal due to her special situation and had not been on missions for a while. Chopper was with her, and Zeb went to see her more often than Sabine.
Sabine was landing on Lothal once in a month when she ran out of food and fuel. It wasn't that she couldn't bear to see Hera, not at all, she loved her like an older sister. But things had changed a lot. She didn't feel 'together' with the team while Ezra and Kanan were gone. Nostalgia for the past prevented her from feeling the present, Sabine knew. And she didn't want to 'heal' yet.
Zeb was there when he landed on the planet this time. “Zeb,” she called and hugged Lasat.
“I haven't seen you for a long time,” Zeb said, his eyes gleaming with enthusiasm.
"You've come at the right time, and we were thinking about how to let you know, but it's better if you come and see for yourself."
"Is the baby born?" Sabine was surprised, she knew it was too early.
"No, it's a few weeks until the kid's time."
"So what happened?"
When Hera first decided to move, they had looked at houses, but none of them made Hera feel "home". Hera still lived on her ship and at the campsite, she built alongside Zeb and Sabine.
"It's easy if you believe in miracles. Believe what's right in front of your eyes. In my case - of course, I don't believe in such things, I attacked him. But it really is him."
"Who are you talking about, Zeb?"
"Me."
When Sabine turned her back she was sure she was really living what Zeb told her, easy if you believe in miracles. Kanan was right in front of her, smiling, alive, and his eyes could see.
"Kanan?" Sabine asked in surprise. "What does this mean?"
She turned to Zeb. "What happened?"
Meanwhile, Hera got off the ship, with Chopper by her side. She had gained more weight and her tummy had grown since the last time she had seen her, but her face was glowing, and she looked much happier and healthier. While walking down the ramp, Kanan ran to her side, immediately wrapped an arm around Hera's shoulder, and walked to support her.
Sabine still couldn't believe it, but if Kanan saw it in front of her and Hera had touched him, he was real.
"I can not believe this!" she said with joy and surprise, first hugging Kanan and then Hera. She hugged Hera again when they parted.
She playfully hit Kanan's shoulder.
“Now I forbid you to die again,” Sabine said, her voice cracking. “You have to be in our lives for at least 30 more years, to see your child grow into an adult. Oh, Kanan, I'm so happy-”
All four of them had tears in their eyes, Sabine and Kanan hugged again.
"Trust me, I'm not going anywhere," he said, hoping her sobs would pass. He glanced at Hera and winked. "I'm living the life I want to grow old."
Even if Sabine completed the necessary materials this time, she did not leave the planet, she wanted to stay with Hera until the baby was born.
Kanan explained how he was found, rescued, and the treatment process that lasted for months. As they spoke Agent Kallus – well Alex – came to visit them. Zeb and Alex had made a good duo recently, Sabine rolled her eyes at the obvious, but Zeb denied any such thing. Hera grinned secretly.
"As long as we say something, they will continue to be blind to it. Let's give them time, they will understand eventually."

Chapter Text
0.5 ABY
What frightened new parents was the birth itself. While most hybrid pregnancies were full of complications, Hera had a very comfortable time. But as the date approached, her anxiety was rising.
They were resting in their cabin, Hera and Kanan lying side by side. Kanan's hair had grown a little longer, but not as much as a ponytail yet. Hera was combing his hair with her fingers, while they were kissing passionately, breathless. Hera was getting tired quicker for obvious reasons, it was good to lie in bed.
Hera's heartbeat increased as his lips kissed her neck and shoulders. Meanwhile, Kanan had taken off her clothes, and he too was half-naked, one hand down where he touched the sensitive part Hera wanted to be touched, and Hera moaned with pleasure.
When Kanan first saw her pregnant, she was wrong to think she wouldn't be very attractive because of her weight. Every time they were alone, Kanan couldn't take his hands and lips from her body.
The baby kicked inside and Kanan's hand automatically came to that spot, caressed it lovingly, and chuckled.
Hera giggled too, but then moaned again with pleasure, three fingers in and his thumb giving special attention to the clitoris. Hera wanted his penis in her now, but Kanan took it slowly. Her moans got louder as she approached orgasm, luckily there were only two of them on the ship.
Hera was right there- she came when the warm and moist lips reached her right nipple. She shouted with delight, and then Kanan came too. They lay motionless in bed for a while, Hera touching his back and broad shoulders. Kanan, on the other hand, turned his face to her neck, as if he was sniffing Hera. When Hera looked down, their eyes met, and Kanan winked.
"I love you," he said to Hera.
He was saying this all the time now, every chance he got. His hands were holding her stomach, stroking her skin, and the baby was moving more inside like he knew his dad.
"I love you too," said Hera, closing her eyes. Passionate moments also brought sleep. As she fell asleep she felt Kanan slide down a bit and kiss her tummy few more times, then Kanan turned her to the other side, hugging Hera from behind, he continued to lie down, still holding the tummy and kissing her shoulder.
<<<<<< <<<<<< >>>>> >>>>>
The birth took exactly 11 hours. It was difficult and painful, despite the help of the med droids. All she thought was that the baby to be okay, she didn't want anything else. Oh, and Kanan had to be there - after the first few hours, Hera got angry and kicked Kanan out of the operating room, but now she wanted him back, her lover giving her strength. Within seconds, Kanan came to her, he was crying too, he took her hand and kissed it, and this time he didn't let go until the baby was born.
Hera had already chosen his name, Jacen. Kanan was the first to hold Jacen. He was crying with joy, not believing that he would ever experience such a feeling in his life. As a child in the temple, he didn't even know what it was to fall in love.
While fleeing the empire, the last thing on his mind was to fall in love with someone and live with them. No, he couldn't force someone else to live on the run, as he did. When he met Hera and their relationship progressed, a part of him knew that this was true love.
He used to dream that the war was over, Hera and Kanan became an old couple and lived happily for years. But he had never thought of having children, and it wasn't just that the person he wanted to be with was a different species. He really did not plan to have children.
He felt like an idiot for a while when he came out of bacta tank. ‘Caleb’ he had said when the droids asked his name. It was his real name, of course.
Two days later, Hera arrived. He trembled when he saw her. Of course, he didn't realize there was a baby when for the first time he had seen her through the hallway window. He hadn't even sensed it when he saw her from the length, didn't realize it until she hugged him.
Then, when Hera confirmed his suspicions and confessed to being pregnant, his whole world in a good sense, of course, turned upside down.
From that moment on, his whole world was Jacen. And now Jacen was in his arms. It was a different kind of love at first sight. He brought the baby to Hera.
"Hello, Jace," Hera muttered, holding him made it all worth it.
Kanan instinctively put one finger on the baby's hand and Jacen gripped it tightly. Kanan started to cry again, Hera smiling, wiping his eyes with her free hand.
"He's perfect," Kanan was able to say, laughing. He didn't remove his finger, Jacen continued to hold it.
"Exactly," said Hera, looking at Jacen. "He already knows you and loves you. Don’t you, Jacen? Because your dad is a wonderful person. Yes, he is, Jace."
<<<<<< <<<<<< >>>>> >>>>>
Jacen woke up with a strange feeling. Someone was coming to the planet... Yes, Luke was coming. He sensed Leia and her children, too. He straightened up and got out of his sleeping bag, the cold air wind hitting his skin, he shivered.
"Hey, take this." When he looked at the voice, he saw that his father was handing him a jacket, he wore it immediately and thanked him. Kanan winked, playing. “You better comb that hair of yours too,” he was holding out a comb. Jacen smiled.
The place where they stayed was naturally the Wookie house. He could sleep comfortably in his sleeping bag without getting cold, but it was not cold. Until today. He found a sink and mirror, smoothed his dark green hair, Kanan ruffled his hair as passed behind, hugged, and tickled Jacen. They both laughed.
"I missed having fun like this," Jacen muttered, grinning, as he combed his hair again.
Kanan grinned too, but then stopped, still smiling. "I missed everything. My son, my family," they were looking at each other in the mirror.
Jacen put his arm around his father's shoulder.
"Then... if you're ready, we're going to save our family!" they grinned at each other and Kanan felt his world recolor.

Chapter 43
They didn't wait too long for the taxi, the vehicle arrived immediately. First Ezra and then Hera got in. Feeling intense emotional stress as everything piled up, Ezra closed his eyes. He tried to keep himself calm by taking deep breaths.
"What's wrong Ezra?" Hera asked, seeing him in this state worried Hera too. Ezra shook his head in negative.
"I'm going to throw up."
Hera pulled a shopping bag out of her bag and held it out. "This might help."
Ezra refused again, he could handle this. The communicator on Hera's wrist started beeping.
"This call better be important. There's no caller ID."
"Answer it please."
Ezra's blood ran cold when he heard Thrawn's voice.
"... I'm not a threat. This is very important. If you want to survive, you need information about Wanda Maximoff."
"Why should we trust you?" Ezra answered. "After all the events we've experienced, you're selling me out for your interests again. Is your own benefit more important to you than all human ties?"
"Of course it is, anything else is madness. But right now, we must fight together against a common threat that is beyond all of us."
“This conversation is going nowhere,” Hera commented just as about to hang up, Ezra continued.
"You made it difficult for us to get information by turning the Holonet on and off at your whim, sending my daughter to an orphanage, that's forgivable, but finally you used Hondo to stun me! After everything we've been through, how could you? You're greedy and have no honor!"
"I see, your memories have finally come back, Bridger. Just so you know, let me clear up any confusion: I have no connection to the Holonet and I have never had any contact with Hondo. But there is a greater danger ahead of us right now: Wanda. You should listen to me."
Hera bit her lip and asked, "Ezra, you should know better. Can we trust him?"
Ezra shrugged; all he knew was that Thrawn was not a liar. Thrawn continued.
"I talked to her myself, yesterday, I told her that she had to stop the spell, but I couldn't convince her. More importantly, attacking her with weapons is to our detriment. But Wanda is losing her power, every minute someone is remembering their memories again. Because of her spell, you all lost your past, so you can't piece your past together - all because of Wanda."
“What reason could she have for doing this?”
“Because she lost everything. And she doesn’t want to lose it again. Her spell is like a cocoon that protects her world. She built her own life, brought her family back, and rebuilt her past. But you paid the price for it. Wanda's greatest fear is being alone: losing her children, and her husband. If she is going to be convinced to break the spell, it has to be with a truth, not just a threat. The husband and children I mentioned do not exist in her real world. Her husband is long dead. The children are not hers by blood; they are magical too.”
“Isn’t there another way?”
“Alternatively, you could break the spell by force. But you have very little chance of succeeding. If Wanda is cornered, the moment she realizes she’s losing, she can become much more dangerous. So be careful, Ezra.”
"Why are you telling us this? Are the two of us supposed to convince this crazy witch? I guess Ezra's profession in these faded memories was a prosecutor," Hera said.
"Yes and no. I’m simply stating that we all have a future, and that future is too valuable to be wasted in Wanda’s hands. We all have to make a choice, General. And I see you've already made yours."
Thrawn hangs up. Hera thinks for a moment, squeezing the device in her hand, then quickly turns to Ezra:
“What did he just say to me? Am I a General?”
Ezra grinned. “I can’t wait for you to remember.”
“I can’t be a general, impossible. Do I live a disciplined life? Because I am aware that the military order isn’t for me. Tell me the truth now—did I pull some strings? Or don’t tell me, I don’t wish to hear it.”
“We’re here.”
When they reached the door, it was open. Music was coming from inside. In a panic, Ezra entered first and Hera followed. Adrian and a brown-haired boy about his age were sitting in the living room, looking at a tablet. When Ezra looked towards the kitchen, he saw a red-haired woman he didn't recognize. The woman locked eyes with him, her body facing the newcomers without breaking her gaze. She slowly closed the refrigerator door with her foot, holding up a carton of milk in her hand and showing it to them.
"Adri, honey, did you invite your friend?" Hera asked, trying to keep her voice calm. The little boy looked at them with a smile.
"Yes, we know each other from school, should I introduce you?"
Ezra noticed the second child hiding behind the red-haired woman -Wanda- the other child's twin. To take control and get the children out of the chaos, he asked:
"Kids, while you three are playing in the room, would you like us adults to make you some dessert? Hera, you have lemons and oranges at your house, right?"
"Cake is a good idea," the red-haired woman said, it must be Wanda.
“I have all the ingredients for the cake at my house,” Hera confirmed. But no one was going to eat cake today, and the three adults in the room knew it well.
“I’m Wanda. The kids know each other from school.”
The three kids laughed heartily as they entered the room, then the door closed.
“So, Wanda,” Ezra started, keeping his voice calm but stern, “I believe we need to talk. There’s something we need to know. And we trust your honesty.”
Wanda paused for a moment, sensing the change in the atmosphere, her warm smile faltering just slightly. "Of course. What is it?"
Hera was the one to speak up, now. “We know you’ve been controlling everyone’s memories. You’re the one behind the spell. Why did you cast it?”
”I only wanted to protect my family and be with them. The events that are happening on your planet - how can I explain this? To put it more simply, the magic I do on this planet never affects anyone else. This is the first time I have been unable to influence events that are destined to happen in the future.
Also, this trouble you are facing is at a very scary level. Vampires are always thirsty for blood and never get enough. They are very aggressive, they do not even obey their own customs, for example, many of them even suck the blood of children, and in the end, they destroy civilizations. But I maintain control. No one has to suffer. Not again. Besides, I don't want to be separated from my family again.”
Ezra exchanged another look with Hera. "But at what cost? I understand the vampire thing, but listen, we've been fighting them before and we're winning. You say don't want to be separated from your family, well, what about my family? That’s not protection, Wanda. That’s manipulation."
”I swear I didn't know about your situation until yesterday when an alien, your governor found me and talked to me. I am truly searching for a way out of this, without losing my family too.” Wanda shook her head.
“I wish you would understand. You’re too focused on the past. What I’ve created, what I’ve built—it’s real. I’ve created something better than what was before.”
“We understand you, Wanda,” Hera said, his voice thick with emotion. “From what I heard, it seems I had a stable family, a real job, and a loving husband. I wouldn't have believed it if someone told me I'd miss something you don’t remember having in the past. You just met my nephew Adrian, who doesn’t remember his father. Imagine how happy he would be to learn that he and his mom were not abandoned at all, contrary—”
Ezra sniffed involuntarily and felt so many emotions. Wanda too, couldn’t look at them, needing to compose herself before continuing. “I am so sorry, but breaking the spell will also put you in danger. Your friends were attacked very severely, including you.”
Wanda’s gaze shifted towards Ezra, her eyes softening but filled with unspoken pain. “Do you truly wish to die by losing blood for a last true moment with your wife, which I cannot even guarantee?”
“Because we were separated while fighting vampires. I know the odds,” Ezra added, steadying his voice.
Wanda’s lips trembled for a moment, then she let out a small, almost imperceptible laugh, a bitter twist to it. “How naive of me to think you would act selfish,” she muttered, almost as if a realization was dawning on her.
Hera bluntly cut in, “Hey, do you really want to die now?” Her eyes softened just a bit, but she couldn’t mask the seriousness in her voice. “I mean, I am not medically equipped here.”
“I must break the spell,” Wanda whispered more to herself, a tear escaping down her cheek. “I need a moment with my boys.”
She didn’t wait further and knocked gently on the door before opening it. Hera followed her in silence.
“Hey, guys, it’s time to leave,” Wanda said softly.
“But we just began to play!” one of the twins protested, his face scrunched in disappointment.
“I know,” Wanda replied, her voice barely audible, “we all just started to have fun, right? But we too have responsibilities.”
The boys got up from the floor, they turned to Adrian, waving at him.
“Maybe tomorrow you can come play with us. Ask your mom.”
Adrian nodded slowly. “I will. Bye.”
As the door closed behind them, a heavy silence filled the room. The time for decisions was drawing near, and the spell would soon be broken.

Then she saw Luna moving two meters away and she heard her groan.
"Hey, I got you," she dropped to her knees to look at Luna better, holding her. Luna was awake but fell unconscious again.
Sabine lifted Luna’s head onto her lap, checking for any other wounds. Luna opened her eyes.
"Mom, what’s going on?"
"Nothing, sweetie, just the usual. Can you get up and walk?"
She helped her stand up while scanning their surroundings. "Looks like the spell is broken. Can you walk?"
Luna nodded and got up, pushing her hair back from her eyes. "I don’t feel any pain."
Sabine glanced around, trying to see if the fight was getting closer to them.
"Why is there no one here?" She stepped away from the rocks.
"Mom, no—wait."
Luna seemed to be sensing something.
"Dad is coming to get us. But he’s hurt."
"Then your dad should focus on saving his own ass—we’re fine."
"He's hurt emotionally. Mom, I feel death."

Out of nowhere, Thrawn fell unconscious on top of Ezra, and he looked shocked but held himself. They weren’t on speeder as he remembered.
"Come on, hey, do not die on me," Ezra muttered, trying to shake him awake.
He looked away and saw Han on the ground as well.
"Hey buddy, what is that, spell sickness?"
From the ground, Han groaned, slowly opening his eyes. He looked at Ezra, grimacing. "Sorry to inform you, kid, but I’m not exactly glad to see you here."
"What do you mean?" Ezra asked, his voice almost pleading. "You’d rather be fighting bloodsuckers? Come on, help me! Thrawn’s… just get over here."
Han got up groaning and they checked Thrawn.
They both knelt beside Thrawn, and Ezra desperately tried to get a reaction from him. "Come on, big blue man, I need you here. I really need you here."
Thrawn remained motionless. Ezra’s breath caught in his throat as he realized the worst.
Han placed a hand gently on Ezra’s shoulder.
"Ezra…"
Han’s voice was somber, filled with regret. "He’s gone."
"No…" Ezra whispered, his hands trembling as he looked down at Thrawn.
"He knew he was dying, didn’t he? He was prepared for this..."
"Yeah, but it doesn’t make it any easier," Han said, his voice softening. "I’m sorry, kid. We can’t help him anymore."

Kanan's anxiety level was rising by the minute. Lothal was now within reach, whatever spells were lifted. This meant that his family and friends had been frozen for almost a month, and the imminent threat of vampires could not be underestimated. The Jedi team quickly jumped into their ship and set a flight path to Lothal.
Everyone was tense throughout the flight, aware that Thrawn was gone. Kanan could sense that Hera was fine, but what about the others? Four hours later, when the ship touched down, Kanan's heart was about to explode. As they approached the familiar ship, the Ghost, Kanan, and Jacen jumped before their ship had even landed, one running to his mother, the other to his lover.
At the same time, the Ghost's doors opened and Hera and Adrian jumped out. Kanan hugged them both and kissed the woman he loved. Adrian was too happy to object to the sight of the kiss, which he found rather strange, but he was also too helpless. When Jacen's embrace ended, he told him and his father the bad news. Forty-eight hours had passed since the spell was broken, and Ezra, Han, Sabine, and the others had yet to reach the ship, despite their proximity, and they were unseen in the Force.

"I think I must’ve heard you wrong—can you repeat that?"
"Mom, I'm pregnant."
Silence.
The young girl stood before her mother, head held high, waiting for her reaction.
"Sabine, how did you—why weren’t you two careful? Didn’t I teach you anything?"
"I don’t think this is a conversation we should have, Mom."
"I think it is. But how could you be so careless?"
“We thought it was a safe day, you know... but it happened,” Sabine admitted quietly. “Mom, there’s a more serious problem.”
"What could be more serious than the fact that you now have to get married?"
"Get married?!"
"You have to, Sabine. That’s not up for discussion. Now, what problem are you talking about?"
"Ezra and Luke want to work together on Coruscant—with the Force, with the Jedi. And... I didn’t tell him about the baby, so he would leave."
"WHAT DID YOU DO?!"
..................................................................................................................................
Of course, seeing the mother of the woman you love angry is nerve-wracking. But this time, Ezra genuinely wasn’t well.
"Ezra, why don’t you stay for at least one more rotation and rest?" Hera had even brought her medical droid to Ezra’s ship, just in case.
"Yeah, sure, I’ll stay... so Ursa can execute me Mandalorian-style. Maybe not a giyotin—too outdated. Probably just a duel with a Darksaber at dawn."
"Aren’t you being a bit dramatic?" Hera raised her eyebrows. Kanan finally burst out laughing.
"You're right—I trust Sabine. She won’t let me get killed. She’ll do it herself." Ezra grinned. "I’m joking, Hera. But seriously, I need to get there. Fast."
He reached Mandalore within hours. Sabine was waiting for him in the hangar. She ran to him, and they embraced.
"I missed you so much. I know it hasn’t even been two weeks, but I missed you."
Ezra couldn’t take his eyes off her. “You’re glowing. Did you put something on your face?”
“Oh—no.” Sabine touched her cheeks, confused.
"I didn’t mean it in a bad way. You look beautiful."
"You look sleep-deprived too."
Ezra chuckled at her honesty. “So... what’s the situation with your mother?”
They had just entered the castle when Ursa found them.
“Ezra, good thing you came quickly. Go put your things away. We’ll meet in the living room in an hour.”
And she was gone.
Ezra turned to Sabine, startled. “She still supports us, right?”
“Yes, yes—don’t worry.”
“Guest room or your room?”
“If you want her to keep supporting us, definitely my room.”
After resting, they were about to head to the great hall when Ezra paused. “Is there anything I should know, love?”
Sabine swallowed hard. “No.”
Ezra didn’t buy it. “Not even a little spoiler?”
‘If it were up to my mother, we’d be married tomorrow because you’re going to be a father.’
"My mother has some... creative thoughts about our relationship dynamics. She’ll share them with you."
"That’s... fine. I’d like to hear them." They sat down on the couch across from Ursa.
"I know what’s going on between you two. Don’t deny it. It would be a miracle if you were still virgins," Ursa said. Ezra paled.
"But you don’t have the luxury of waiting around for a proposal. You two are a good match. I’d much rather see my daughter marry you than the sons of some count or duchess who can’t keep their pants on."
Ezra froze, but Sabine nudged him. He came to his senses quickly.
“I’m grateful, truly. My heart’s pounding. I was planning to propose, I just... didn’t have the right time—or the ring.”
“I’ll handle the ring, Ezra. Sabine is my only daughter—she gets what she wants.” Ursa smiled at her, but Sabine only responded with, “Thank you for the kind thoughts, Mother.”
“But as I said, we don’t have much time.” Ursa’s gaze shifted to Sabine. “So, the wedding will be this weekend. Just a simple one. That’s four days from now.”
“I must’ve heard wrong. This weekend?”
“Yes. Just the ceremony. I’m taking care of the arrangements.”
“Mother—” Sabine tried to object.
“You two probably need to talk, so I’ll leave the room. Sabine, I spoke to the priest. He expects your vows in two days. I can’t write them for you, obviously.”
“A priest?” Ezra asked, hesitantly.
“It’s our tradition, Ezra. You give your vows to a priest and get married. It’s best if you write them.”
“Right, I know that, but—” Ezra tried to explain.
“Mom, maybe you could’ve considered Ezra’s traditions too?”
“Are we even sure we’re getting married right now?”
Both Ursa and Sabine turned their heads sharply toward him. Ezra knew he’d just dug himself into a hole.
“You don’t want to marry me?” Sabine asked, stunned.
“Sabine, I... I didn’t tell you what happened before I arrived. I wasn’t well yesterday. Hera asked me to reconsider the trip, but I came anyway.”
“And I didn’t tell you either,” Sabine added. “I just wanted you to focus on your research—”
“Ezra, please be clear,” Ursa interrupted. “I know you care about my daughter. Did we misunderstand something?”
“What misunderstanding, Mom?” Sabine asked nervously. “It’s clear—he has doubts about marriage. I’m no different. You’re rushing this.”
“True, I acted hastily. But we don’t have the luxury of time.”
Sabine understood exactly what her mother meant.
“You still have a choice,” Ursa continued. “I would never force you.”
“And I told you I never would either,” Ezra added.
“Fine.”
Ezra stepped in. “I’m so, so, so sorry. But I need to say this—marriage? I’m okay with that. No, I want to marry you. But... why do I have to declare my love to a priest?”
He laughed. “Can’t I just slip the ring on your finger?”
Sabine laughed too, but Ursa raised her eyebrows.
“Did you just suggest eloping with my daughter?”
“Maybe I did. It would be simpler.”
Then, all three of them laughed.
...........................................................................................................................................................................
It was hilariously chaotic trying to alert all their friends to attend a wedding happening in just four days. Ezra thought Ursa was joking—but she wasn’t. She seemed determined to handle everything at once, and it was driving Sabine absolutely crazy. An argument was inevitable, and of course, it happened over the wedding dress.
Sabine had just rejected seven—yes, seven—vintage gowns in beige, white, and pale pink, all with lace sleeves, making exaggerated gagging faces at every single dress Ursa recommended. Then Ursa finally raised her voice. “Fine, get married wearing your armor!”
Sabine didn’t mind at all—in fact, she kind of liked it. Ezra, on the other hand, looked like he was reconsidering everything. “Just listen to me,” he said, “I know what you’ll like.”
“Even if you’re right, we don’t have time to fit it to my body.”
“Fitting won’t be necessary. I know your size.”
“About my size... Ezra, I’ve gained weight.”
“That’s cool. How’d you do it?”
“I just eat everything,” Sabine answered nervously. Her secret still remained untold—not because she feared rejection, but because she wasn’t ready to see it written on his face.
Ezra didn’t flinch. He just kept looking at her, like he already knew—and was just waiting for her to say it herself.
“So, where are you taking me?” Ezra just smiled and both hopped on a speeder. They entered the main market area, where an ancient public building stood—grand and awe-inspiring.
“Gorgeous. What’s it used for?” Ezra asked.
“That was a governor’s building. It was only used for its actual purpose for about seven years. Then—war again. Mandalorians, you know. You’re marrying one.” They talked a little more about history and architecture. Sabine, as it turned out, had actually retained a lot of information—Ezra felt like he was with a free tour guide.
And honestly? He didn’t mind at all. He could listen to her talk like that for hours.
They arrived at the cathedral where they were supposed to get married. As they stepped inside, they were greeted by the priest.
“I didn’t know Mandalorians were tied to places of worship,” Ezra remarked. “Most of what I’ve heard is people uniting under the same belief systems—and that’s usually called a clan.”
The priest—Klaus—smiled warmly. “Not exactly. Many clans are allowed to unite under the same belief structure. That doesn't make it a religion in the traditional sense, but more of a shared way of life.”
Ezra: "Wizard."
Sabine: “We believe in unity. And explosives. Sometimes both.”
As they left the cathedral, Ezra’s gaze drifted toward a small boutique tucked between two larger buildings. It had a sleek glass front and a minimalist sign, but what caught his attention was the shimmer of fabric in the window. “Hey... want to take a look inside?” he asked.
They stepped inside. The boutique was quiet, tastefully lit, with curated pieces arranged like art. A green designer gown on a mannequin drew Sabine’s eye almost immediately. “Oh,” she said, stepping closer. “This one’s gorgeous.”
“It’s definitely you,” Ezra said, already imagining how she’d look in it.
“Want me to try it on?”
“Of course,” he replied— then she disappeared behind the curtain with the dress.
When Sabine called, “Hey, you’re not gonna see the dress?” he answered, “Nope. Definitely not.”
“Why not?” she laughed from behind the curtain.
“Bad luck,” Ezra said firmly. “You don’t see the bride in the dress before the wedding. That’s ancient superstition. Jedi tradition. Galactic rule. Probably.”
Sabine peeked her head out, smirking. “You just made all that up, didn’t you?”
“Absolutely.”
After they returned from shopping—with Ezra still clueless about which dress Sabine had chosen (she had tried on four) their friends who had managed to arrive started showing up. First came Hera and Jacen, followed closely by Zeb and Kallus. Then Vizago arrived—somehow looking smug despite being late—and finally, Ahsoka and Rex stepped into the room like they’d just come from a mission.
"I can't believe I'm getting married tomorrow," Sabine said, yawning as she checked her slim frame in the mirror. "I always wanted bigger breasts… and now I'm scared I might actually get them."
"Well... life," Hera commented casually. "Why the insecurity? Most men rarely mind breast size, Ezra among them."
"Thanks, Hera. Real life-saving advice," Sabine muttered, rolling her eyes.
"Why your mom rushed the wedding so much, I don’t know," Hera said. "You should’ve seen Ezra before he left—he was making cold jokes like he’d been sentenced to death. What happened, Sabine?"
Sabine considered telling Hera about the pregnancy. She was a mother, after all—she’d understand. But then...
"Mom just wanted to make things easier for us," Sabine said instead. "She never meant to kill Ezra or challenge him to a Mandalorian duel."
"What was that comment about your breast size?" Hera asked, raising an eyebrow.
"You know… married people procreate, and women’s bodies change. I was just thinking about myself."
Hera laughed. "Some couples procreate before marriage—like me and Kanan," she said, rolling her eyes. Then her tone softened.
"Just talk to Ezra if you have even the tiniest doubt. Even if it feels stupid. He loves talking to you—a lot."
.............................................................................................................................................................
The next morning Ezra did not see Sabine until she was infront of him in the cathedral, as they were about to walk to altar.
Sabine’s dress, when she finally stepped out, was nothing like what anyone had expected—except maybe exactly what she would wear. It was short, hitting just above the knee, with sharp, asymmetrical lines and bold stitchings. The fabric shimmered subtly under the lights, catching hues of green and silver depending on how she moved.
No veil. No heels. Her hair was braided. And around her thigh, instead of lace, was a holster strap—empty, but symbolic. She looked like punk couture born on a battlefield.
And Ezra? He was in awe. "I'm gonna need a second to catch my breath."
Sabine smirked, one eyebrow raised. “Glad you approve, Bridger. I was aiming for ‘rebellious war goddess who could totally win a blaster duel in heels.’” Ezra laughed.
“But I skipped the heels. Didn’t want to trip walking down the aisle.”
Ezra offered his arm with a crooked grin. She laughed and looped her arm through his.
Together, they turned toward Priest Klaus—who stood waiting at the altar, calm as ever.
“Let’s go get married before I melt your brain with this look,” Sabine whispered.
“Too late,” Ezra muttered under his breath. As they reached the altar, Klaus gave them both a nod—serene as ever. “Are your vows prepared?” he asked calmly.
There was a pause.
Ezra looked at Sabine. Sabine looked at Ezra. They both turned back to Klaus and said, in perfect unison:
“Nope.”
From the front row, a sharp gasp escaped Ursa Wren. Sabine turned slightly and smiled at her mother—half apology, half defiance.
Ezra cleared his throat and quickly added, “But we can improvise, right?”
Klaus didn’t even blink. “Of course.” He gave a small nod, perfectly composed. “Speak from the heart. That is, after all, where the bond lies.”
Sabine started first: "When we first met, we were just kids. And yes—you fell in love with me the moment you saw me. And I treated you like garbage. Classic girl move." She paused as a few chuckles—Rex and Vizago—echoed through the room.
"But now we're here—hey, come on!"
Kallus joined them and Rex, Ahsoka, Vizago had started laughing.
"Now we're here, and today, I vow to love you with the loyalty of a Mandalorian, the passion of an artist, and the courage of a rebel." At this point, all guests burst into full on laughter.
"Hey people! We're trying to get married here!"
Now it was time for Ezra's vows. But Ezra couldn’t hold back anymore.
"Hey! Shut up, you dumb—" He stopped himself just in time, then added, "—except Hera. I love you, Hera!" He turned back to Sabine.
"Standing here with you right now… my heart is pounding. And yeah, dreams are coming true. But honestly, words are just words. They’re not what matters most. What really matters is how we act—who we choose to be every day."
He took a breath and continued, ignoring Zeb's chuckle.
"So here’s what I vow to you: I will protect you for the rest of my life. Even though, yeah, I know you don’t need it. You’ll probably kick my ass anyway. Secondly, I will love you, take care of you, and third, I’ll go to all those museums you love so much, and listen to you talk for hours about art history—because I love the way you light up when you do."
Then he turned to the crowd:
"And seriously—if you keep laughing, I will start kicking people."
Priest Klaus stepped forward, his robes simple, his presence calm and steady.
“Today, we do not merely witness the joining of two people. We witness the merging of paths, of traditions, and of choices freely made. Let the clan of one become the clan of two. Let their bond be stronger than beskar, more enduring than any name. From this moment forward, you are bound.”
He looked at each of them in turn. “Sabine Wren. You come here of your own will, to stand beside Ezra Bridger—not only in fire but also in stillness. Ezra Bridger. You come here of your own will, to stand beside Sabine Wren—not only in peace but also in chaos.”
A soft silence settled over the gathering as he raised his voice slightly for the final words:
“By the witness of those gathered, and by the strength of your vow, I now declare you husband and wife.”
There was a heartbeat of silence. Then Ezra looked at Sabine like nothing else in the galaxy existed and she smiled, that rare, full smile she saved just for him and kissed her—firm, certain, and full of every word he hadn’t managed to say.
The room erupted into cheers and applause. Zeb shouted, “About time!” Vizago added, “I give it six months before one of them blows something up—romantically.”
Hera and Ahsoka just laughed.

(TODAY)
As the last bloodsucker creature fell, Sabine collapsed to the ground. She was covered in blood—but it wasn’t hers. And she couldn’t look.
If she did—if her eyes registered it—it would become real. And it wasn’t real.
It couldn’t be.
She was supposed to wake up in their house by the lake—the one Ezra loved so much, he had even tried to design it himself after learning the basics. Her voice cracked in the silence.
"No."
Just that. A word, a plea, a wall she built with her breath.
"Sabine."
She hardly registered the voice. A presence. Boots crunching on scorched dirt.
It was Han. He was bleeding too—shoulder torn, lip split—"Sabine, look at me." He knelt beside her slowly, as if she might shatter with one wrong move. His hand reached out, fingers lightly touching her chin.
Her lips trembled. Just a fraction.
"It’s going to be okay. I know you don’t believe me… but it’s true."
She blinked. Once. No tears yet—just that unbearable sting behind her eyes. Still, she didn’t look at Ezra.
Not yet.
I will protect you for the rest of my life. Even though, yeah, I know you don’t need it. You’ll probably kick my ass anyway.
She was still on the ground, a dull pain throbbing in various parts of her body. Han knelt beside her, checking quickly, making sure she wasn’t bleeding.
"Do we need shelter? Should we? Wait, is this—"
"That was the last one," Sabine replied, her voice flat.
"Oh, thank the Force."
Why thank the Force? Ezra was—Ezra was on the ground.
Unmoving.
Not speaking.
"Sabine," Han said, his voice suddenly low, urgent. "You have to get up. Please. For your daughter."
Sabine finally turned her face to Han, eyes hollow. The pain was still there—sharp, buried under adrenaline and denial. “I can’t look at him.”
Han didn’t push. He just sat beside her, not touching this time. His voice was quiet, not lecturing, not heroic. Just honest. “Sabine… you know he’ll always be with you.”
She blinked. And a single tear fell. "I don’t feel him." The words came soft, confused. Then something clicked—slow, terrifying.
The bond. The ever-present hum between them. Gone. Hollow.
"Han," she said, barely breathing. "I don’t feel him."
Han didn’t speak at first. But he understood. He had seen Leia feel her bond many times. Sometimes, it hadn’t even required Han to speak—and still, she had known. A curse maybe, for Force-sensitive lovers.
"I know…" he said gently.
"No, you don’t." Her voice broke. "I— I can’t feel him." Then she looked. Really looked.
Ezra. Her Ezra. Lying still on the ground. Not just hurt, he wasnt living.
He was lying on his side, one arm outstretched like he’d still been reaching for her. His face was calm. Too calm. No tension in his brow, no fight left in his jaw.
Just stillness. Unnatural stillness. His chest didn’t rise. His fingers didn’t twitch.
And his eyes—they were closed, like he was asleep. But even sleep carried a weight, a breath, a soul curled inside the silence.
This... this was just absence.
Emptiness dressed in his face.
She crawled—slow, broken—toward him. "Ezra."
She reached him with trembling fingers. The moment her hand touched his shoulder, she froze.
Still warm. "Ezra."
She pressed her forehead to his chest like she could will it to rise.“No.. . no, please” Her voice cracked, shallow, like breath slipping through a fracture.
Her arms wrapped around him, fiercely, protectively. As if someone might try to take him. As if the Force itself might try to carry him away.
“I’m not letting go. You hear me?” she whispered. “I don’t care what this means. I’m not—letting—you—go.” No answer. She clung tighter.
Sabine still held him. Arms wrapped tight around Ezra’s body-
She didn’t speak anymore. Didn’t cry.
She just held on.
Chapter 45: Kanan
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
Kanan Jarrus was a man of many talents.
Jedi Knight, husband, and father. He played guitar, knew every trick in the book when it came to card games, and had once been a dangerous flirt—a skillset he jokingly passed on to his son. He was a shy singer, an ex-alcoholic, and a man trying his best to hold his world together.
Most days, he spent his time with his family. He laughed with them, loved them deeply. In the afternoons, he’d take his guitar out to the backyard and strum quietly to himself—or sometimes, just for Hera.
He avoided card games now. Avoided gatherings. He was home, but still searching for something-someone. Because being alone meant the memories would come back, loud and vivid.
At night, it was worse.
When the house was quiet, and Hera had gone to bed, Kanan would sit by the window with his guitar untouched. Memories crowded in—sweet, aching, too many to name. Ezra’s laugh. The ridiculous things he used to say.
He tried to sing too, sometimes. Hera had told him his voice was beautiful. He wanted to believe her.
But mostly, he just sat there, staring out into the stars. Waiting for the ache to soften. It hadn’t yet. It probably never would. Still, tomorrow he would take Hera on that trip she kept mentioning. Just the two of them. Maybe a quiet lake. Maybe a planet with no past.
Maybe a place where memories couldn’t follow.
.............................................................................. ...........................................................
“Jacen has a new girlfriend.”
“Oh?”
“A dentistry student. Cool girl.”
“Have you seen her?”
“Just looked at her pictures. Brown hair with pink-dyed ends. Has a warm smile.”
“Hmm.”
“Sometimes I think he skips from one to another too fast, but Jacen insists he doesn’t feel heartbreak much. Not like he used to.”
Heartbreak. Kanan let the word hang in his mind for a second. It had been so long since he felt it. Since he met Hera, there hadn’t been anyone else.
“He’s young.”
“At his age, you took a Padawan, Kanan,” Hera said, her voice soft.
When Kanan looked at her, he saw a woman who had made peace with her grief. She had learned to smile again. Why couldn’t he?
“- I basically just told Jacen to keep the house clean and wash his plates after eating. Seriously, he’s an adult-child…”
Kanan smiled faintly. Jacen—his son. A chaotic mix of both of them.
“- Then I told Chopper that Jacen really has to get married before he takes over his room!”
Kanan blinked. “Marriage?!”
“Love, you weren’t listening, so I said the most bizarre thing ever,” she giggled.
“Ha. Good.”
Hera stepped closer and placed her hands on his shoulders. “What is it, love?”
He pulled her into his arms, buried his face into the familiar curve of her neck. “Nothing, baby.”
Ezra would’ve teased Jacen about the girlfriend. Would’ve grinned and said, “Not keeping blasters but keeping dishes clean is the art of being a real man.”
Would’ve called Kanan “an old man” again.
Would’ve nudged him with a laugh, “Careful, Master. You’re close to becoming a grandpa.”
Kanan exhaled quietly. He held Hera a little tighter.
“I know what you’re thinking,” Hera said after a moment, breaking the hug slowly.
“What am I thinking?”
For a moment, Hera really looked at him—really saw him. And Kanan felt it. He thought she might say it’s time to let go or you have to move on.
But instead, she smiled gently.
“Let’s get those nerf burgers as take-away on our way.”
Kanan exhaled. “Right away, baby.”

Notes:
And so the story ends.
I want to say a little thank you to everyone who read this process.
((Writing Sabine's and the children's grieving process was very difficult for me. Really... writing a sad scene is not easy.))So I found the center of the story not only in the loss, but in the effort to move on.
see you in the next story.
