Chapter Text

Sakura Uzumaki was born March 28th with pink hair and green eyes. She was surrounded by relatives different shades of red and pink hair at the time of her birth at the Uzushiogakure immigrant camp that was located in the middle the Land of Fire. Loud, boisterous, and large chakra reserves swarming around. Mebuki and Kizashi had later immigrated from Uzushiogakure to Konoha after its destruction and changed their surname to Haruno to keep their identities safe. They didn't want to leave their kin at the Immigrant camp but they needed a stable place to live and call home.

No one stays at the camp for long, it was temporary. What's left of the clan is now spread out through Rain, Grass, Fire, and Land of Snow. No one dared to go to Kiri. Uzumaki's felt bitter hatred towards the ones that caused their destruction.

Mebuki was from the Mizuno clan on Uzushiogakure. A sister clan to the Uzumaki and famed for their seafaring skills.

Kizashi was an Uzumaki through and through. Kushina was his sister. When Kizashi was younger he had bright cherry red hair. But with age, it transformed into a suddle pink.

The two siblings were never really close because when Kushina was younger she was given as a war token to their sister village, Konohagakure.

Kizashi and Mebuki decided it was best not to introduce their culture to their daughter till she was able to defend herself and they decision to finally sign Sakura up for the academy.

"Sa-chan, come in here please.."

"Yes, papa?"

"You're mama and I have come to decision to finally sign you up for the academy like you've been begging us for months. How about we take you out for some dango?"

"Un!"

"What do you say Mebuki?"

Mebuki gave a giant grin and nodded her head.

"Let's get going my kawaii family!"

As they passed through the market place to get to dango stall the trio overheard yelling coming from a nearby store.

"Demon Fox! We don't serve your kind. Stay out!" The owner raised a fist ready to punch a small blonde hair and blue eyed boy with whiskers.

The pinkette whispered to her parents:

"Mama, papa, what's going on?"

Kizashi replied sourly, "I'm sorry, Sakura you have to hear that discrimination..that poor boy. I wish the hokage would take better care of him. Let's keep moving, I don't want you to see anymore of this." He gently placed a hand on her shoulder to keep moving.

The family somberly ate in silence and none of them could honestly get the picture of the blonde haired boy being mistreated.

To lighten the mood Kizashi came up with an idea.

"Sakura-chan, if you're going to be in the academy, you should have a headstart and learn tree walking! It's the basis of all chakra control. It's a fairly simple exercise. We know you have the reserves like your papa. Let's practice in the garden tomorrow."

The rose-haired girl cheered

"That's a Haruno promise!"

The next day Sakura got up bright and early at the crack of dawn to start her chakra control training. She barged into her parents room jumping on their bed.

"Papa! Wake up, you promised to train me! Haruno's don't break promises. Hurry up!

With a groan Kizashi slowly awoke from his slumber and got up.

"Sa-chan, we can't train on empty stomach, how about I make us some breakfast first?"

After a filling breakfast of pancakes, it was finally time to begin the first steps of being a ninja.

"In order for you to walk up trees you need the right amount of chakra. Too little and you'll fall off, too much and you'll break the bark. Why don't you give it a try?"

Sakura made a hand sign and slowly gathered chakra into the soles of her feet. She began inching up the tree, until she reached a branch and was excited at her progress.

"Papa, look at me go!"

Kizashi's eyes widened and pumped his fist.

"Look at my little ninja, it looks like she has good chakra control!"

Mebuki was standing quietly in the garden far away with a soft smile on her face. She didn't want to startle her daughter and make her fall out of the tree. Sakura needed to keep concentration.

"Mama, look at me! I'm a ninja, a ninja!"

Sakura got so excited that began to wobble and in a blink of an eye, she lost her balance. The pinkette screamed and fell towards the ground.

"Gotcha, petal!"

"Papa, I- I don't know what happened.."

"Sa-chan, you need to focus and maintain your flow of chakra while tree-walking. You'll get more practice! You did wonderfully."

Mebuki was now standing next to Kizashi and their daughter.

The rose-haired secret Uzumaki jumped a little in Kizashi's arms.

"Mama, how did you get here so fast?"

"A ninja never reveals their secrets!" Mebuki winked.

"Mama, you don't tell me anything about your life, I didn't know you were a ninja."

Mebuki gazed distantly into the garden

"Baby, a long time ago, I was a ninja. Your tou-chan was a ninja too. But now, you papa is the head of the merchant guild and I am a seamstress! How about we go to the park? Your tou-chan is going to be going away on a business trip for a few weeks. Why don't you kiss him goodbye."

"Papa, you promise to be safe and bring me back a souvenir? Pretty please!"
Kizashi gave his daughter a bear hug and kissed Sakura on the cheek.

"I will my dear!"

They all hugged one last time and the head of the household was off on his trade route.

"Hurry, mama! I want to go to Hashira park. The one with the jungle gym and big slides."

Sakura was pulling on her kaa-chan's arm revving to go.

"Honey, I'll wait on the bench and watch you play."

"Hai!"

The pinkette overheard the sound of a boy sobbing and darted over to the noise. It was the boy from the store! He was being bullied and it looks like he needed help. She marched over to where the boy was getting sand kicked in his face and began shouting.

Sakura puffed up and was furious.
"Hey, you bullies! Leave him alone, he didn't do anything."

"Look, it's the forehead freak!"

"I don't care if you bully me, but leave him alone!

Chains shot out of Sakura and wrapped the bullies up.

Mebuki who was watching from afar, felt the angry chakra leaking from her baby and saw the famed Adamantine chains. She body flickered and was holding her daughter's arm in a second. Sakura blinked out of her reverie and the chains disintegrated.

The bullies ran off screaming in fear

"Sa-chan, you mustn't get so angry! Honey, our family is filled with secrets and you are one of them. No one must find out about your powers!"

"Let's go home. I think that was enough excitement for one day.."

The two walked home in silence without saying goodbye to the young blonde. Questions about Haruno family filled the young girl's head. But she knew her mother wouldn't budge. She was stubborn and so that leaves snooping as the only option. She would wait till her mother was asleep to find answers. So she shall wait..

Notes:

I'm changing Mebuki's last name to Mizuno.

水野 (Mizuno) - This surname combines the characters for "water" and "field" and can be interpreted as "field of water."

Chapter 2: Chapter 2

Summary:

Sakura sneaks into her papa's office to find answers and it only gets worse.

Chapter Text

Sakura crept out of bed and tip-toed to the forbidden office; the only room she wasn't allowed in ever. The room that would give her the answers she needed. She never broke the rules, always a good girl. However, she knew there was a key under the potted plant and went for it.

A pause and widened eyes. Sakura saw dusty boxes and files that were scattered throughout the messy room.

When..

CRASH!

Masked men flooded her home. Sakura heard mama scream awake and a loud struggle was afoot. Masked men were everywhere raiding mama and papa's house. Sakura dashed upstairs to help her mother, when she saw one of them..

hit mama too hard on the head.. Mama hasn't gotten off the floor..there is a blood stain. The forbidden room had been abandoned and completely forgotten.

Scattered papers, stolen scrolls, and a night of broken glass.

Sakura knew she had to take care of her mama, be the woman of the house, be strong, just until papa came home from his trip..Right?

Pretend everything is normal

Put a smile on her face

Everything will be okay..

Mama is just sleeping

Mama is just sleeping

Mama is just sleeping

Sakura had received a messenger hawk from her papa. It was addressed to her mama and herself. Apparently, the trip would be taking longer than usual and he wouldn't get back to see Sakura off on her first day of the academy. A bitter smile etched onto her face.

Sakura did all the chores, laundry, cooking, and practiced what her papa taught her. She had to be strong, because who else would?

The first day of the academy came and mama was still nowhere to waking up. Sakura had dark defined bags under her eyes and she wasn't getting a wink of sleep. She was trying to keep up with everything and holding a facade of naivete and carefree.

Sakura had packed her own bento and set out an outfit the day before. She kissed her mother goodbye on the cheek and promised she would check on her as often as she could.

"My name is Iruka and I will be your instructor until you graduate. You will be the culmination and prosperity of the future. Why don't you start introducing yourselves?"

Everyone introduced themselves one at a time. One person stood out in particular. His aura shined bright like the sun, had the bluest eyes deeper than an ocean, and a smile that can warm anyone's heart..his name..Naruto Uzumaki. She had recognized him from the playground incident and was the one getting screamed at by the store clerk. She was immediately drawn him and wanted to be near him.

Sakura wasn't prepared for her introduction. Not one bit..She was so exhausted and wiped out that half way through her introduction, she ended up blacking out and carted off to the nurses office.

Iruka would have to chat with Miss Haruno after she awoke from her slumber. Something wasn't right, and it was up to the teacher to play detective to figure out what was causing his student a lack of sleep..Figures, on day one of school. He'd have his work cut out for him. Just his luck..

Sakura blearily opened her eyes and was startled to see Iruka-sensei.

Iruka-sensei sighed softly.

"Haruno-chan, are you finally awake? I'd like to talk to you about today's incident. How is everything going on at home? How is your father and mother?"

"Iruka-sensei.." Saku-chan trailed off, not knowing where to start.

"Papa is merchant and is on a business trip."

"And your mother?" Iruka asked kindly

"Mama is sleeping..Iruka-sensei."

Chapter 3: Chapter 3

Summary:

Sakura gets mama medical attention from a silver haired masked man.

Chapter Text

"Your mother is sleeping?...Iruka blinked once but twice. What does that mean?

Sakura gazed out the window. It was dark. How long had she been asleep? She turned attention back to her teacher.

"Yes..Iruka-sensei, can I go now? If you don't need anything else from me, I'm going to leave. I need to go and check on mama."

With that, the six year old hastily stood up and darted out of the school and to the only place she's called home for as long as she could remember.

Saku-chan's home is in the heart of the Senju district. A pale blue house, white fence surrounding the entirety, big front and back yard with green grass. The flowers and trees were in bloom in the garden.  Nature was singing and alive.

"Mama, I'm home!" The pinkette announced, secretly hoping her mother would have woken up by now.

Sakura ran up the stairs and took deep breath. In and out, in and out. Slowly, turning the knob and shut the door behind her.

"Mama?" "Daijoubu?"

Silence.

Tears were forming in her eyes.

" Please, wake up! Papa, needs you..I need you.."

A weak, but audible voice. Of her...mother

"B-baby, I-m awake..But I need m-medical attention..C-an you be my brave little ninja and find someone?"

Mebuki was pale, dehydrated, and weak from blood loss. She needed medical attention or else..she could..die.

Sakura took to  the streets screaming and begging for help. But no one would would listen. Onlookers thought she was crazy or asking for money.

She called for help but no one came.

Until..she bumped into a masked man with shaggy silver hair. Maybe he would be different?

"Please, mister. My mother is dying! She doesn't have much time left. I'm all alone."

Kakashi bent down to Sakura's level.

"What's your name pup?"

"Sakura Haruno.."

"Let's go help your mom."

Mebuki was placed in the ICU

And Sakura was placed in the custody of Anbu..Masked Men..The ones that broke into her home in the first place and caused her misery.

The silver haired man with the mask, had reassured the pinkette she was safe and they had only a few questions about Mebuki's state.

A man with a blonde pony tail with blue eyes walked in. He had a kind smile. A voice inside Saku-chan..whispered. You can trust him.

"Hi, Sakura-chan, you can call me Inoichi-san. I just have a few questions about why your mama is injured."

"Your sensei, Iruka informed us, you passed out at your introductory speech, and said your mother was sleeping?"

"Mama, got hit on the head, by one of those masked men. They raided my home."  Sakura exclaimed and pointed at Anbu in the room. "I'm supposed be the head of the house, and be brave, ya know? Papa, said he would be back. But he's not..I'm trying my best."

"Sakura-chan, I'll investigate what happened. Anbu shouldn't be hurting the public. However, I have a daughter your age, and I think you two would get along. We'll contact your father, and he'll be home. In the mean time, You'll be staying with my family, until your father is home from his trip. Let's get you some dinner, ne?"

Chapter 4: The dream

Summary:

Sakura's first night with the Yamanaka's and meeting her first friend.

Chapter Text

Inoichi-san walked Sakura hand in hand back to the Yamanaka compound.

It was the pinkette's first time ever sleeping over somewhere that wasn't home. She had no friends and had never had a sleepover before. Animals and nature were here friends.

The compound was so huge, and there were flowers everywhere! Inoichi informed Sakura the reason why there were so many flowers was because, they were for the flower shop. Not only did the Yamanaka's sell flower's, but the family had a nursery and specialized in poisonous plants alike.  This beat the Haruno garden by a mile. She was in awe.

A smaller mini-me of Inoichi came running up to greet the two in excitement.

"Hi, Daddy! Who's this?"

Suddenly, Sakura felt shyness kick in and began inching behind Inoichi.

Ino could read others very well and knew what to do.

"Hey..What's your name?"

"Sakura..Haruno.."

"My name's Ino Yamanaka, nice to meet you Sakura!"

That little voice inside Saku-chan whispered again..Trust her.

Sakura stepped out slowly from behind Inoichi and reached out to take Ino's hand that she had been holding up.

"Why do hide behind your hair? I bet you have pretty eyes, just as you have a pretty name too!"

"I have a big forehead..I get made fun of for it.."

Ino tugged at a ribbon from around her own pony tail and it came undone, hair flowing down.

"Here, this is for you! So you can embrace your flaws and learn to be confident."

"B-but.."

"Just take it! We're friend's now, aren't we?"

"Yeah, I guess we are.."

Dinner with the Yamanaka main branch family went along smoothly. Sakura met Ino's mother, Noriko Yamanaka. She was a beautiful woman of grace.

Inoichi brought Sakura to the guest room to tuck her in for the night. Her room was across from Inoichi and Noriko's room and next to Ino's room.

"Sleep well, Sakura-chan. Remember, your mama, is safely recovering in the ICU at Konoha General, and your papa is making his way back as quickly as he can. There is an ongoing investigation about the Anbu. Sweet dreams.. "

With that he turned off the lights and shut the door.

It wasn't easy getting to sleep. But somehow, Sakura managed. Something was pulling her..

Chapter 5: The Visit

Summary:

Sakura goes to visit Naruto after he misses the second day of school.

Chapter Text

"I think I had a dream last night..but I can't remember what it was about.." Sakura trailed off. Her eyes glazed over.

"Sakura-chan! Hurry! Or will miss school. Hayaku!" Ino was pulling the tired petal along. Practically dragging her.

Sakura had woken up late and Ino wasn't any better. If they didn't hurry up, they were going to be late. Anyone who was late would get in trouble and would usually have to stay after class and do chores or rank E missions for academy students. E rank missions were even worse than D-rank missions that genin had to after they graduated from the academy. And, who was running the chores and detention? Class 1-B teacher. Mizuki-sensei..

"HI IRUKA-SENSEI, HOPE WE DIDN'T MISS ANYTHING?" The boisterous blonde bombshell shouted as they barely made it on time.

"Girls, take your seats.."

Ino led the two to the back row where a sleepy looking boy with a pineapple shaped hair was dozing off and a chubby boy hiding potato chips under the desk sitting

"Figures, Shikamaru asleep at the start of class.." Ino muttered and rolled her eyes.

"Why are you so late, Ino-chan?" Choji questioned while trying to shovel down even more potato chips in his mouth. Sakura was hiding behind Ino.

"I made a new friend, and she's currently staying with my family at the compound. That's why!" Ino pushed Sakura in front of her.

"Sakura-chan, these two dummies are Shikamaru Nara and Choji Akimichi! I've known them since forever!"

Shikamaru suddenly woke up. Something caught his attention. He wasn't really asleep anway..

"Where are her parents?" His eyes narrowed.

Sakura gathered the courage and spoke up.

"M-my mother is in critical condition at the ICU, and my father is making his way home from a trip. He's a merchant."

Shikamaru wanted to ask the pinkette more questions, but didn't want to freak her out.  So, he stopped there. She looked tired..

After class, the new friends had plans to help out the Yamanaka Flower Shop. Naturally, Sakura was excited because flowers and nature were her first friends before she met Ino. They would talk to her and she would talk back. But that's not something she would share with anyone..

Sakura was distracted during all of class. Her mind always drifted back to that one boy..Naruto Uzumaki. He showed up on the first day of class but today? No appearance..Where is he? Is he okay?

"Welcome back, girls! How was school?" Noriko greeted the two at the Yamanaka Family's Flower Shop with a big hug.

Ino chattered away. Sakura had a distant look in her eyes.

It didn't go un-noticed.

"Sakura-chan..How was your day, dear? You look troubled."

"I had a dream last night..but I can't seem to remember it. However, the real reason, I'm so distracted is because..because..Naruto Uzumaki wasn't there today."

Ino raised an eyebrow.

"That blonde idiot?! On the first day of class he pranked Iruka-sensei and had to stay after class for detention. He probably got mad and didn't come back today.."

"Do you know where he lives? Maybe we should go check on him?" Sakura had fire in her eyes. Determination.

Ino fidgeted. She was uncomfortable.."Yeah..I saw him walk home, yesterday after you passed out. He lives in the Akasen district. Right above a brothel..

"Sakura..I don't think it's a good idea." Both Noriko and Ino said at the same time.

"I'm going anyway..Bye Noriko-san, Ino-chan.." She pulled quickly away and ran off to the Akasen district before anyone could stop her. Sakura had been very sheltered her whole life and this was her very first time in the red-light district.  Looks like there would be a change of plans today. She would help out at the Flower shop some other day, she would make it up to Ino-chan.

Sakura didn't know Naruto's exact address, except for one detail..His apartment was above a brothel. So, Saku-chan wandered around the district until..she came to a halt. She knew this was his apartment. She knew it deep in her bones.. She walked up the back stairway, and knocked.

No answer.

Knocked again..

Nothing.

She felt his chakra on the other side of the door. It was unstable.

"Naruto-san, are you okay? You didn't come to school today? May I come in?"

She took the silence for a yes.

She opened the door and walked in, shutting the old creaky door behind her.

The cramped apartment was a pigsty. No heat, it smelled like mold, there were old cup-ramen containers piling up on the table, and by the looks of it, Naruto hadn't done his laundry in days.

He lived by himself? Alone..

He was lying curling up in his bed. Sleeping..but he was breathing heavily. His face was flushed and he was sweating profusely.

Sakura knew immediately that he had a high fever. That's why he didn't come to school today.

She ran to the sink and washed out a cup and poured cold water on him. She needed to break his fever. She went to the medicine cabinet in his bathroom  and found a small first aid kit. There were a few pain relievers left.

She gently pryed open his mouth and had him gulp down some more water along with two pills.

It was getting late and Sakura didn't want to leave him, so she fell asleep in a chair next to him slumped over.

Sakura startled awake. She felt eyes on her. He was awake..His fever broke.  She felt..relieved..

"Y-you're the one that saved me at the park..You're the one that fainted in class. You helped me..No ever does..What's your name?"

"Sakura.."

Chapter 6: The Secret

Summary:

After school Naruto treats Sakura to ramen. Then, Sakura's secret is uncovered to someone..

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

My name's Naruto Uzumaki, and I'm going to be Hokage one day, Dattebayo! Thank you for helping me out, Sakura-chan! I owe, ya! How about I treat you to ramen after school tomorrow? You can meet Teuchi! He's owns Ichiraku's Ramen Shop! Best place in Konoha! The only shop that doesn't hate me.."

He made a fast recovery. Which stunned her. She didn't question it, but she was just happy he was alright.

Sakura gave a big grin. "I'd love to Naruto-san! Is it alright if I bring my other friend, Ino-chan? She's also in the same class as us. I think you two might get along "

Naruto nodded eagerly

"I'll see you tomorrow, Ja ne!"

Saku-chan was making her way back home when someone grabbed her shoulder and spun her around

"Hey, kid. The Yamanaka main branch, went to the Uchiha police force, because they are missing a pink haired child, I think this photo looks like you?

All Sakura could see was swirling red eyes, tomoes, and inky curly black hair

"Who-?"

Name's Shisui Uchiha, and you got a lot worried people searching for you, pinkie, let me escort you back to the Yamanaka compound."

Inoichi, Noriko, and Ino were all waiting at the entrance and in unison, they thanked Shisui bowing. The Uchiha didn't stay. He body-flickered into the night.

First, Ino burst into tears sobbing. She clung onto Sakura in desperation.

"Sakura-chan, please don't ever leave me alone again!"

Then, Noriko's turn. She just gave Sakura a kiss on the forehead and said she was glad she was safe and sound.

Finally, Inoichi..

He said, he was proud she helped a friend in need, but to be more careful next time and try to be considerate of Ino and Noriko's feelings.

That wasn't the reactions she was expecting. She thought they would be furious with her, but they cried for her, and were just concerned. She stared at the three Yamanaka's with wide eyes. The voice inside her was right..They could be trusted

The next day:

As promised, Naruto held up on the end of his bargain. He was waiting at Ichiraku ramen after classes ended.

"Oi, Hey, Sakura-chan and Ino-chan!" The whiskered blonde waved to get their attention

Sakura didn't tell Ino where she was taking her after school. She said it was a surprise.

"Oh, no..Sakura..You didn't..Please tell me we're not eating lunch with HIM! He's an idiot, a loser, all he does is get into trouble and does pranks."

"I'm sorry, Ino-chan, but he promised me to treat us to lunch after school for helping. Come on, we're already here." This time Sakura was pulling Ino along.

"Hi, Naruto-san!" Sakura greeted. Ino grumbled and they both sat down next to him.

"Come on, Sakura-chan, we're friends now! You can call me Naruto or even Naruto-kun." A light blush dusted across his face.

"Alright, Naruto. What do recommend on the menu?"

Miso chashu pork ramen! "Teuchi, two bowls for my new friends, it's on me!"

Ino snapped "I'm not your friend, I'm here for Sakura-chan."

Teuchi, heartily laughed. He loved getting new customers and hearing banter. "They're on the house, Naruto!"

"Itadakimasu!" The three said. Naruto on his fifth bowl, Sakura and Ino on their first bowl.

After Ino and Sakura they parted ways with Naruto they went to the flower shop to help out.

Sakura tracked her way to the back room to grab some more pansies and azaleas, while Ino manned the front counter.

The flowers and plants were talking to her again, just like they do in mama's garden ever since she was little. They were talking about things that didn't make any sense..A massacre, a fox, a snake in the grass, and an invasion.

" I don't understand..What are you talking about-?"

Sakura jumped out of fear. It was just Ino.

"Sakura..? Who are you talking to?" Ino had come in the back room after Sakura had taken too long.

"No one..Ino-chan.." She averted her eyes to the ground.

"Sakura, you know you can tell me anything. I'm your best friend..Look at me, please.

Trust her.

Sakura took a deep breathe and looked up.

"Ino, ever since I was younger, flowers and plants have been speaking to me. If I concentrate enough, I can do this."

She closed her eyes and a raised her hands. Sprouts from ungrown seeds slowly began to grow.

"Sakura-chan, that's amazing, but I don't think anyone else in Konoha can do what you just did, not since the Shodaime era."

"I know..and I think we should keep it a secret. Just between you and me. Pinkie promise?"

They linked fingers and the promise was sealed for a life time.

Notes:

The reason why I chose the name 'Noriko,' for Ino's mom's name, is because in episode #281 of Naruto Shippuden, Ino's Mom made a debut. She didn't have a name in the episode, so I used the voice actress name on the official Naruto Wikipedia site. Noriko Suzuki. She voiced her. I'm trying to be clever. 😂😅 The masked men that attacked Mebuki..They aren't exactly working for the hokage. But that's all I'm going to say. See you in the next chapter..

Chapter 7: The Confession

Summary:

Inoichj learns some disturbing information and Kizashi comes home..

Chapter Text

Behind the scenes, Inoichi had gotten in touch with the Inuzuka clan to sweep over the Haruno household with their ninken for the investigation. The house was currently taped off from prying eyes and Uchiha police force were standing guard outside. Inuzuka ninken are bred specifically for their heightened smell to sniff out drug busts,  locating explosives, search and rescue, and of course aiding their companions in battles.

"Ano..Tsume-san, I have a favor that I have to call in."

"Whadda you need Inoichi?"

"There was an attack on the civilian household of the Haruno's. I need your clan to search through the house for any clues."

"Alright, you got it!"

Inoichi was anxiously waiting in his office headquarters at the TI building in central Konoha that was underground.

Then, a knock at his door. It was Tsume...She had returned later that day.

She had a strange look on her face.

"Inoichi..we swept through the whole house, and we didn't find traces of any Anbu..instead we found traces of ROOT ninja instead..All this time, they have been active this whole time..Who's running ROOT again?"

Inoichi froze and his face pale.

"Danzo.."

Danzo wanted Sakura for some reason. That wasn't good at all..He had to protect her with everything he had.

Inoichi got word that Kizashi was back in the village again. He needed to speak to him urgently. He knew something about Sakura that Inoichi didn't know.

He tracked Kizashi down to Mebuki's private hospital room.

"Welcome back, Kizashi-san.."

Kizashi's face was downcast. Gazing at his sickly wife.

Inoichi continued on.

"A lot went on since you were on your trade route. Your home was raided, your wife was attacked by masked men, and Sakura-chan was placed in my family's care. I think they wanted something.."

"My daughter.."

"Why her?"

Kizashi took a long pause.

"We're not originally from here..you see, Inoichi-san. We immigrated from Uzushio. We waited for help from Konoha..but in the end she was ultimately destroyed. We held the line for so long, but it was false hope. Ya know..there's a little camp out in the middle of the land of Fire. It's the Uzushio immigrant camp. Sakura wasn't born in Konoha.."

"M-my clan name is actually U-Uzumaki..You might have known my sister, Kushina-chan. She came here as a war token."

Kizashi was sliently crying. He was trying to wipe away his tears on his kimono but they kept flowing. So much heartache..

"She left our island, when we were younger, mama and papa told to go find her..After the destruction of Uzushio, I came here in hopes of finding my  sister, but it was too late, she was dead, all that was left was her son, my nephew..I tried going to the hokage and adopting him, but I was denied over and over again, even though I was last remaining relative..All I can do is watch from afar. Being an Uzumaki is dangerous. Sakura has powers she has yet to harness and that is why she needs protection and guidance. Inoichi..Danzo is a dangerous man, and I'm worried for my daughter's sake. Will you help me? I know you're a good man."

Inoichi smiled and shook Kizashi's hand. He would give anything to help out a friend in need.

Chapter 8: Gone without a Trace

Summary:

Mebuki was still nowhere to waking up..Sakura and Kizashi were being protected and in a safe house.

Everything will be okay? Right?

The first step at keeping Sakura safe was amping up the protecting. So, that means hiring bodyguards or babysitters. Inoichi didn't have the time or means. He was already so busy working his new full-time with the TI department. So, that lead him to..

"Shisui, Itachi-san, I need you two to protect Sakura-chan with your lives, and the ones around her. Danzo, is coming after her, so we must be ready. With your combined effort, you'll be unstoppable. Goodluck boys!"

Shisui grumbled. He wanted more details. Why was Danzo coming after a civilian family? He wanted more details, when Itachi smacked him across the head. They would find out eventually.

The two Uchiha led Sakura and Kizashi to a safe house out in Hashirama's forest. It was getting colder out. Fall had left and snow began to fall. The Winter Festival and New Year's Eve Festival were just around the corner and Mebuki was still nowhere to waking up. In fact, Mebuki's hospital room now had guards planted outside the room. It would be a new year but it wouldn't be the same without celebrating with Mebuki to Kizashi and Sakura horribly missed her mama. She would cuddle with her if she had bad dreams and softly sing her back to sleep.

"Hush, hush... Baby rabbit on the hillside...

Why are your eyes so red? When I was small...

Mother ate the fruit of the red tree...

and that's why my eyes are red."

Sakura blinked out of her reverie. That's right..They were going to be staying somewhere far from home because bad people wanted to hurt her family.. It was her fault..

" Sacchan, why'd you stop? We need to hurry, baby girl. C'mon, let's go. " Kizashi cupped his daughters face gently.

The four tracked their way through the dusting of snow. When they stopped in front of a brown log cabin. It was old, but still standing. It hadn't looked like it was used in a long time. The rosette wondered if this would be her her new constant. She missed sharing a room with Ino-chan. Shisui made went through complex hand signs. The door rumbled and opened slowly.

It dawned upon Sakura.

"You were the one who brought me back to the Yamanaka's that night! You had red scary glowing eyes! Sakura pointed at Shisui.

"That's the Uchiha bloodlimit called the sharingan, Sa-chan. The Uchiha are a noble ninja clan within Konohagakure. Just like the Yamanaka, Akimichi, Inuzuka, Senju, and Lee clans. Kizashi ruffled his daughters hair.

"Mou..Papa. I'm not a baby anymore.. I'm going to be a shinobi! I'm passing my academics..but I'm having trouble when it comes to the physical aspect." Sakura pouted and puffed out her cheeks.

Itachi coughed interrupting the pink haired Haruno's moment.

"I think we need to talk about a schedule..Shisui will bring you to the academy and guard you during the day, and I will tend to Kizashi-san. This is a three bedroom cabin as you can see. The kitchen is fully stocked and it's heated by the fireplace. If you need anything during the night, don't hesitate to ask."

Kizashi tucked Sakura in bed. He took to the fold out couch. Rest didn't come easy. Sakura tossed and turned. No matter what, she couldn't get to sleep. She crept out of bed with a bunny stuffed animal in hand, and into the living room where Itachi was still up.

"Hi, Itachi-san..I couldn't sleep. I'm not used to this.." Sakura rubbed her eyes.

"Truthfully, I cannot sleep either, Sakura-san. I worry about my little brother, Chichue, and Kaa-san."

"Ano..You look even more tired than me, Itachi-san. Here..You can borrow Usagi-chan! She reminds me of my family. She might help do the same!"

Before Itachi could refuse, Sakura shoved the stuffed bunny in his hands and went back to bed.

In the morning, Shisui had prodded Sakura along to get ready for another day at the academy. Kizashi had already left beforehand to visit Mebuki in the hospital and then open his shop for the day. Kizashi made a bento box for his precious daughter.

"You don't want to be late do you, Sakura-san?"

"No, Shisui-san.." Her head was downcast.

They arrived early and Sakura made her way through the entrance of her school and down to Class 1-A room.

'Remember, I'll be on the roof of the school, if you feel like something is wrong, just flare your chakra signature like I taught you, and I'll be there. Itachi's crow summon will be keeping an eye out for surveillance, in case Danzo's goons are around.'

Shisui's words rang through her head.

Hopefully, nothing would go wrong. It was just going to be an ordinary day.

It was lunch and the rosette sat next to Ino. Ino's mother packed Ino a bento box as well.

Naruto sat unusually quiet every single time. He sat in the back row because no one wanted to sit next to him, and gazed out the window. His grades were always terrible when quizzes and tests were posted afterwards. It was clear he was dead last and clan children were kept quiet about his status..Not that they would say anything. They avoided him like the plague. His appearance was always dirty and hyperactive.

Ino perceptive as usual.

"Here..You dummy, I notice that you don't come to school with any lunch. My kaa-san packed plenty to feed an army."

"I-ino-chan..I.." His eyes watered

"Just eat, you want to win a spar against Sasuke-kun, right? Then, you need food for fuel. Otherwise, he'll keep kicking your butt."

Ino snickered.

"Ja ne!"

The platinum blonde returned to her seat next to her best friend.

"Ne, Sakura-chan, are you going to going to the Winter Festival and celebrate New Year's? My mother just brought me a beautiful kimono with the Yamanaka crest on the back. I also, asked her to get one for you.."

A blush dusted across Sakura's face.

"Oi, are you sick or something? Your face is almost the same color as your hair!"

Ino pressed her hand against the pinkette's forehead.

Iruka flickered the lights twice, signaling that lunch was over. Their conversation was abruptly over.

Ino turned her attention back on the lessons.

Ino had a crush on Sasuke. It was clear to Sakura the way she looked at him longingly. She often talked about him in an obsessive way. Sakura however..had a crush on someone else..Not that she would ever admit outloud to anyone.

The Winter Festival is coming up on Saturday and Ino asked her mother for a kimono for Sakura. She would come over early on the day of the festival to change into it and spend the whole day with her..and Shisui of course..Sakura wasn't thrilled with the idea of having a babysitter. She wasn't two anymore, and was going to be a future shinobi of Konoha. She deserved more responsibilities, right?

Festivals were fun. They usually entailed street food, games, artist having boothes of drawing caricatures, and fireworks.

New Year's Festival entailed going to the shine and receiving their fortune from Shrine Maidens. Families would go out to their favorite restaurants in the village and would have a big get together.

The day of the Winter Festival was here

Everything was going fine. Sakura went to Ino's with Shisui as her Shadow. She tried on the new kimono and it fit perfectly. It was time to head to the main drag, where all the festivities were occurring. Ino was a budding sensor and she wanted to lose Shisui just as much as Sakura. His presence was annoying. They didn't need babysitters..How lame.

By pure luck, they finally managed to lose him in the sea of people.

The two little troublemakers played a fish catching game and a ring toss game. They were eating street food and time flies by when people are having fun.

A shadow fell upon the two..It wasn't Shisui. Someone more sinister. The feeling of their chakra was bone-chilling and terrifying.

Sakura and Ino were hit on the back of the neck and- Ino woke up to Shisui shaking her.

"W-where is Sakura-san?!"

"I-I don't know!" Ino was wailing

"I felt a scary chakra signature and the next thing I knew..We were both unconcious. Please, we need to find her!"

"Let's go find Itachi and Kizashi!"

Shisui scooped up the little Yamanka heiress and off they sped away into the night.

The lullaby is familiar. Lol, I loved the lullaby Mama Kamado sang to Nezuko. I borrowed it.

Chapter 9: The Seal

Summary:

Sakura wakes up in an unfamiliar place.

The taste of salt on her tongue..

Where is she?!

Chapter Text

Drip..

Drip..

Drip..

The sound wouldn't stop. It was getting on her nerves.

"Where am I?" Sakura groggily sat up.

She was all soggy and had been wadeing in water.

The taste of salt on her tongue

'You're in the seal, little girl'

"W-who?"

Her eyes focused.

Water dripping from the top of where ever she was.

There in a cage in front of her- a three tailed massive turtle.

"What's your name?"

"To humans, I'm known as the three tails..To my hosts..I'm Isobu.'

"Host? What are you even taking about?!" The pinkette was distressed

'You are my third host. My last host..She killed herself to protect this village. Her name was Rin..

Sakura was hyperventilating.

I-I..don't know what happened..I was with Ino-chan and the next thing I knew..I wake up here. I just want to go home. Please, how do I get out of here? I want my papa. I want to see mama wake up." She was growing even more agitated and crying. Tears streaming down her face.

'Girl calm down..What is your name?'

"S-sakura"

Isobu..right. He was a gloomy turtle.

'You are asleep. Danzo, that scum sealed me inside you. He made a deal with Kiri.'

'My older brother..Kurama is somewhere in this village.'

'Someone will come for us..eventually.

Sakura wiped her tears awhile and started to calm down and relax. She felt the genuine reassurance of Isobu-san.

"I guess we will be stuck with each other for awhile, then. Nice to meet you Isobu-san. I'm sorry for overreacting. I'm just not used to this..Or really anything..I've been going through a lot recently. I miss my Kaa-chan, Tou-chan, and Ino-chan.

"And- I noticed you said I'm the third host? Who was the first?"

'His name was Yagura..the previous Mizukage of the Bloody Mist.'

"Wait! I thought he was still alive..But does that mean?" A frowned marred across Sakura's face.

Something wasn't right

This whole situation wasn't right

Sakura might as well meditate.

It felt like an eternity..

Her eyes snapped open once more

The world was shaking. Water was pouring from the roof of the seal rapidly

"Isobu-san, what's going on?!"

'Someone is waking you up..Looks like our time is up.'

"Will I get to see you again?!"

No reply.

She expected to wake up to a world of blinding colorful. But it was dark. Too dark.

"Sakura-san are you alright? Your chakra is spiking and acting weird."

"Sa-chan..oh baby, everything is alright. Your papa is here."

It was Itachi-san and tou-chan. She was safe at last.

"We found strands of your hair. You left a trail. We tracked you to this hidden cave."

"We are going to take you to the hospital to stabilize your chakra. You're burning up, kiddo!"

When they arrived at Konoha General nurses carted her to a private room immediately. The severity of the situation didn't look good at all. She had been in there for what it seems like hours.

Finally..the head doctor came out. He looked miffed.

"I need to talk to you two privately..No one else must hear what I'm about to tell you."

"There seems to be another jinchuuriki in Konoha now..It is sealed inside Sakura-san."

"The Hokage has been notified. ANBU guards will be stationed by her door as well.."

Kizashi was furious. Because of his lineage..Sakura's lineage. Another jinchuurki had been made. Another pawn.

Just like his nephew..He would have to keep his daughter's identity a secret. If this got out..He prayed the village would not scorn them. What a mess..

Uzumaki's were known to have longevity, large chakra reserves, known for the exceptional sealing, and it so happen Sakura had the same type of chakra as his sister Kushina..Sakura had manifested the famed adamantine chains while he was out of the village.

Children had a harder time controlling their emotions and new budding powers. Kizashi could teach her how to control the chains. It took vigorous training but Sakura could do anything she put her mind to.

At an early age him and his sister had both unlocked the chains.

Kizashi knew exactly what to do.

Chapter 10: The seal pt2

Summary:

Kizashi trains Sakura to control the adamantine chains and to keep the three-tails at bay. He leans something chilling about the seal.

Notes:

Sorry, it's such a short chapter. I'll try and make them longer. See you next year!

Chapter Text

If you use your power, only hatred will come from it. Stay tranquil deep inside me." -Mito Uzumaki to Kurama

Kizashi and Mebuki had promised each other to deliver Sakura to her birthplace and the ruins of Uzushiogakure. He wanted to research and map the scattering of Uzu clans alike.

Mebuki had always dreamt of taking Sakura sailing through the Adamantine isles. Teach her about the ways the ancient seafaring Nobi clan.

Perhaps at the ruins in Uzushio there were secrets still left to be uncovered.

However, more than anything, Kizashi's dream was to integrate the Uzushiogakure camp that was in Fire territory into Konoha. Becoming an ambassador, creating an Uzu sector; a haven. Negating xenophobic behavior. Those were his goals.

The main priority now is training his daughter to control the adamantine chains and the three-tails.

His sister Kushina and cousin Mito had left numerous journals about the trials, and tribulations, of controlling the nine-tails, and in fact, it was possible to co-exist in peace and to forge bonds with the tailed beasts.

Just like Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki in the old tales, his parents used to tell him at bedtime. He would listen intently as his mother would describe the Rabbit Goddess.

"Sa-chan, the first and foremost thing you need to do are control your emotions. That is the key to controlling the adamantine chains and keeping the three-tails at bay. When there are emotions such as extreme anger, it makes it easier for the three-tails to flood its chakra through your system."

"Right now, you're a ticking time bomb. We are going to be meditating and practicing wise-mind. Feel that ball of chakra at your center. Ebb, flow, and practice deep breathing."

There sat his daughter in deep meditation Sakura had always been good at following directions.

Unbeknownst to the pinkette, Kizashi was taking a look at the sealing matrix used on the three-tails. It had been similar to the one Minato used on his nephew.

Something else was inscribed into the seal.

Not only was there a loyalty seal to Kiri and Danzo.

Something more malicious..

It allowed Danzo to force Sakura into a tailed beast transformation on his command. Creating a mass destruction weapon of his own. He could obliterate any enemies he desired.

Kizashi knew Uzumaki fūinjutsu like the back of his hand. This particular seal was a bit more complicated. He needed to get in touch with the toad sage sannin Jiraya. The second pair of eyes would do the trick.

The last time he knew, Jiraya was at mount myoboku It was time to save his precious daughter. There was no way that scum Danzo would win.

Chapter 11: A little help

Summary:

Kizashi is in desperate need. His daughter was branded and recently sealed.

Chapter Text

Kizashi sent an urgent coded message to Mount Myoboku.

The message encrypted:

ROOTS still run deep

Mist and the war hawk struck a deal

The three tails are sealed once more

Chaos is imminent

K.H

Jiraya might not make it in time so his beacon of hope would be his extended family at the immigrant camp.

Kizashi and Shisui departed Konohagakure

Itachi would protect Sakura within the realm of the Uchiha lands.

Fugaku owed Kizashi. Sakura would be safe...

The duo trekked through Senju forests

The sun was rising like a fiery ball of flame, true to the Land of Fires namesake.

Chakra hummed through everything. The forest was alive

Cicadas were buzzing, a nearby stream trickled a gentle melody, and the tree branches swayed like graceful ballerinas.

At times like these, Kizashi missed the Land of Whirlpools. The Land of Fire was beautiful but it could never be comparable to Uzushio

The sea is home and the place where his kin truly belonged

When he closed his eyes he was right back on the islands

The ocean stretch for miles like a never-ending blue carpet

Everyone knew each other on the islands

They were all a close-knit community and related to each other somehow

He missed eating together at every meal, the togetherness, and Uzushio's food staple taro.

Kizashi had met Mebuki at Uzushiogakure's famed academy when they were kids.

Uzushio's youth were first trained by their clans and later sent to the mainland for specialized training. Uzushio's academy provided room and board. Some of these kids came from faraway islands.

Kizashi and his sister Kushina began their training at the tender age of 4.

The Uzumaki clan was one of four great clans that founded Uzushio.

The Uzushiogakure council was highly influential and notorious for their sealing.

The other three clans were-

"Kizashi-san, are you alright?" The raven-haired boy questioned

"Shisui-kun, it's alright my boy. A moment ago I was reminiscing. It should not take much longer. We will make it there by midday."

Shisui had a burning question that needed to be answered.

"Kizashi-san, I had been meaning to ask, Why does Fugaku-oji-san owe you? He seemed surprised when you reached out. I had never seen his face turn so red, aha."

"Ohoho, I had been assigned to the same team as your uncle Fugaku and Hikari Hyuuga when I first arrived in Konoha. Our team eventually disbanded. Hikari later ended up settling down to marry the clan head Hiashi Hyuuga. Ya know, now that I think of it, they have a little girl Sakura's age! Perhaps we could set up a play date one of these days!"

Shisui continued on

"The Hokage must have thought that an Uzumaki, Uchiha, and Hyuuga would make one hell of a team. I see what he had in mind, Kizashi-san. I never pictured a Hyuuga and Uchiha being on the same team." Shisui burst out laughing.

Kizashi chuckled

"Believe it or not, I saved Fugaku's ass countless times! That's why he owes me. I won't let him forget it!"

The duo had made it. Shisui had instantly noticed the Uzu swirl was plastered everywhere. Loud music and banter could be heard for miles.

"I take it we're here?"

Kizashi snorted

A sea of red, pink, purple, and other unique-haired sensor clansmen were fast approaching.

"Kizashi-dono!"

"Oi!"

"Good to see you again!"

"Who's the handsome fella?"

"He's cute!"

"Lunch is almost ready! It's your favorite, Kizashi-chan!"

Kizashi raised his hand.

"Maa maa, it's good to see you all! Unfortunately, we are not here to visit. We need your help removing a dangerous seal on my Kawaii daughter. She is the newest jinchuurki of the three-tails. You guys will get to meet her."

Uzumaki twins Kenji and Akane stepped forward along with Haruka Umino, Chiharu Watanabe, Itsuki Miu stepped, and
Satoshi Uzuki.

They all specialized in fūinjutsu, were extremely powerful in their own right, and had accumulated large bounties.

"Gather what you need my people and we will be on our way."

The large group had made it to the gates of Konoha as the sun was setting.

They continued back at an extremely fast pace, not wanting to waste any time.

Uzumaki twins Akane and Kenji both said at the same time

"Kizashi-dono, we sense seven root lackeys quickly approaching. What do you want us to do?"

"Let's take them out!"

The root lackeys race forward. Their chakra is deadly and ready to strike.

Adamantine chains shot out of Kizashi. He subdued an enemy ninja with an owl mask

The twins crafted a containment barrier seal trapping in three root lackeys. While the root lackeys were stuck, the older twin Akane rigged the barrier to electrocute them inside

"Suirō no Jutsu!"

Haruka flickered behind an enemy ninja successfully trapping them in a water prison jutsu. They sloshed to the ground dead from drowning

Chiharu battled with her katana against a root ninja with a cat mask. Chiharu always carried a katana with the signature Uzu swirl on the hilt

Untrained eyes could not keep up with the movements. Chiharu happened to be short and tiny but used that to her advantage. She could go toe to toe with Minato when he was still alive

Itsuki used his enhanced strength punching a hole straight through the midsection of one of the ninjas creating massive blood spattered.

"Oi, Itsuki you made a mess! You owe me money for ruining my good shirt." Satoshi complained and stuck out his tongue.

"We're ninja dope. Bloodstained clothes come with the trade." Itsuki shot back

Once all the enemy ninjas were eliminated, they rushed to the Uchiha compound.

Izumi Uchiha was watching over Sakura along with the main house Uchiha. Fugaku, Mikoto, Itachi, and even little Sasuke were worrying about Sakura.

"We're here Sa-chan, we won't let that scumbag Danzo control you! Let's get working on altering the seal." Kizashi said

The Uzu-nin got right to work with the alteration on the forbidden seal

Yūgao Uzuki and Iruka Umino are islander descendants in my story. I have a backstory for Tenten and it's related to the Nohara clan.

Chapter 12: The Plan

Summary:

Plans are set in motion and Sakura wakes up

Chapter Text

The evening sun cast a warm glow over Konoha, but for Kizashi, its beauty was overshadowed by the tension hanging in the air like a shroud. The urgency of their situation left no room for distractions. He stood in the Uchiha compound’s main hall, surrounded by a small council of trusted allies—Izumi Uchiha, Fugaku and Mikoto Uchiha, the ever-cautious Itachi, Shisui who bore a grim expression, and the Uzu ninja that was recruited to aid in altering the seal. Little Sasuke kept trying to listen under the door for what was going on.

At the center of the room, a makeshift table overflowed with scrolls containing fūinjutsu formulas, sketches of sealing matrixes, and hastily drawn diagrams—each a piece of a puzzle that had grown infinitely more complex.

"Sakura is strong, but she’s still a child," Fugaku remarked as he studied the scrolls laid out before him. "To train her in these conditions—at such a young age—runs the risk of breaking her spirit. We need to tread carefully."

"She may be strong, but she's also fragile right now," Izumi added, her voice steady yet laced with concern. "The trauma she’s experienced could affect her stability." She turned to Kizashi, empathy etched in her features. "Have you spoken with her since she was brought here?"

Kizashi nodded, albeit reluctantly. "I've assured her that she is safe, but it’s hard to mask my own fear around her. The last thing I want is for her to feel that weight."

"It’s imperative that we keep her grounded," Itachi contributed, his tone calm yet commanding. "If we can manage to alter the part of the seal that links her to Danzo, we may be able to allow her to master her powers. Otherwise, the risk of the beast emerging could be too great."

Mikoto stepped forward, placing a hand on Kizashi’s shoulder. "What do you need from us? I know we all might be reluctant, but we can share the burden of training and protecting her."

Kizashi appreciated the support. "The altered seal needs to be memorized perfectly. It was constructed by Danzo, which means no detail can be overlooked. Kenji and Akane, you two have the best sealing knowledge to assist me for this. Haruka, you are the only one who can confidently assess the original seal and its hidden patterns."

Shisui paused, his brow furrowing in thought. "But what of Danzo? Is there any information that we can gather on his movements? He won't sit idle after this failure. He will be looking for opportunities to reclaim the power he lost with Sakura's capture. We have to anticipate his moves in advance."

Kizashi exchanged a knowing glance with Fugaku. "They may come for her again, but if we can thwart this next attempt, we could expose some of their operations. Doubling down on our defenses would scare off any immediate retaliation for the time being."

"Chiharu and Itsuki will join you Shisui. Given your sensory abilities. I need you to detect any signs of Danzo's men."

Kizashi weighed his options. "We can also arrange for Ino and Sasuke to train alongside Sakura. If they grow together, they can help each other expand their abilities, while remaining protected. Ino's presence might also ease some of Sakura’s trauma. And Shisui, form a task force to track Danzo's whereabouts."

As plans were formulated, the head doctor from Konoha General approached, his expression grave.

"We need to test the efficacy of the altered seal soon," he stated. "I'm afraid if we delay, the three-tails may break free during Sakura's training. The more she uses chakra, the more unstable her situation becomes."

Kizashi felt a swell of determination surge through him. "We won’t allow it to come to that. I will not let this village turn my daughter into a weapon."

They would proceed with training and altering the seal simultaneously—balancing both as smoothly as they could manage. Kizashi felt the weight of responsibility, yet a flicker of hope ignited within him. He had allies—friends—who understood the gravity of his task. Their hearts were light with the weight of common purpose.

"We can’t forget the importance of Sakura's emotional state, too," Izumi interjected. "In addition to physical training, she needs emotional support."

Mikoto nodded in agreement. "Her bonds with others are just as crucial as her strength. Izumi, would you be willing to mentor her? You have a way with children and can offer her guidance without putting her under excessive pressure."

"Of course, I'd be honored," said Izumi, a gentle smile tugging at her lips.

Just then, a burst of energy broke through the tension. Little Sasuke, who had stretched himself too far in an attempt to eavesdrop, stumbled into the room. His cheeks flushed from the effort and his onyx eyes wide with curiosity. "What are you talking about? Is it about Sakura? I want to help too!"

Kizashi knelt to meet the young Uchiha’s gaze. "Sasuke, this is a very complicated matter. We’re discussing how to keep Sakura safe and help her grow strong. But it’s also much more than that. Can you handle such responsibilities?"
Sasuke nodded earnestly, determination brightening his features. "I’m strong! I can protect her!" There was such fierce sincerity in his voice that laughter bubbled up around the group, if only momentarily.

Fugaku chuckled and tousled his son’s hair. "You have a good heart, Sasuke. "

Sakura had been in a deep sleep with a fever. The young pinkette begun to stir, groaning and trying to hold on to the last vestige of sleep.

“Sa-chan,” Kizashi said gently, “there’s something important we need to talk about.”

“We need to change the seal Danzo placed on you. It connects you to something dangerous—the beast inside you."

"Papa, I heard him.. h-he's not a monster and he wants to be called Isobu-san."

To hear Sakura expressing a connection to the three-tails within her unsettled everyone, and they exchanged apprehensive glances, muffling their reactions.

Kizashi maintained his calm demeanor, though inside, his heart raced. "Sakura, the creature you feel—Isobu, as you call him—he's not inherently evil, but we need to be cautious. The connection Danzo established amplifies the danger. We must alter the seal to keep both you and the village safe."

Sakura sat up slowly, her pink hair tousled and her eyes still bleary from sleep. “But Papa… he doesn’t want to hurt anyone. I can feel it. Sometimes he just feels… lonely.” She inhaled sharply, a touch of anxiety flickering over her features. “What if he’s scared?”

Fugaku stepped forward, his authoritative presence easing the tension. “It’s understandable to feel compassion for Isobu, Sakura. He’s been trapped, and conflict often generates fear. It’s important to know you’re not alone—your friends and family are here to support you through this.”

The young pinkette looked around the room, her gaze landing on each concerned face. “Are you all… are you really going to help me?”

Mikoto crouched down to be eye level with Sakura, her tone gentle and nurturing. “Sakura-chan, we are a community, and we protect each other. You’re not just a duty for us, you’re family. We can help you understand your powers, and we can help Isobu too. But first, we need to ensure you’re safe from the connections Danzo made.”

“But what if I turn into a monster?” Sakura asked, her voice trembling with anxiety. “What if I hurt someone?”

Izumi knelt beside her and took her hands gently. “Listen to me, Sakura. The fact that you care, that you worry—it shows how strong your heart is. You’re not a monster. You’re a brave girl who can learn to harness these powers. We will help you control them, and we’ll be by your side every step of the way.”

Sasuke piped up eagerly, his small hands balled into fists. “Yeah! We’ll train together, and I’ll make sure to protect you from anyone who tries to hurt you! You’re my friend, and I won’t let anything happen.” His sincerity sparked a small smile on Sakura’s face.

“Is it… Is it okay if I keep talking to him?” she asked softly, her voice barely above a whisper, glancing back at her father. “I want to help him, and I want him to help me too.”

Kizashi considered her words, understanding the depth of her desire to form a bond with Isobu. “If we can ensure your safety first, then yes. Building a connection with him may help both you and him."

As they engaged in further discussions about training schedules and safety measures, Sakura's small voice broke through the murmur: “Can we train in the forest? It would be nice to hear the sounds of nature while I meditate. Isobu-san has never been to the ocean. He wants to be near something thay reminds him of home "

Mikoto laughed softly, ruffling the girl’s hair. “Of course! Fresh air and the whispers of the leaves can be quite calming. It’s an excellent idea.”

Sakura’s cheeks flushed in delight, her earlier anxieties slowly melting away. “Thank you, everyone. I…I feel like I can do this with all of you by my side.”

"We're in this together, Sakura,” Kizashi said. "No one fights alone, especially not in this family. That's a Haruno, no, Uzumaki promise!"

I have my other stories on fanfiction.net as Celestial-Loner. This is my first time on Ao3. Sakura is my favorite character.
