Truth Conquers Lies (A Hyrule Centric Fic)

Summary:

Hyrule always wondered what it would be like to tell the truth to the chain. To stop lying about her secret. (Girl! HYRULE AU)

Notes:

Hyrule always wondered what it would be like to tell the truth to the chain. To stop lying about her secret. Did I say her? =0
Yes in fact, I did. This is an AU where Hyrule is a girl, has been since birth. I'm say this now, so no one will be confused.

Hyrule's pov

I watched Legend quietly brush his shoulder length hair, the afternoon sun making his hair glow. Legend may have complained about his hair, but you tell he likes it now. To be honest, I wouldn't mind dying my hair. I want to try something new, and maybe whenever we go to my Hyrule, no one will recognize me! I sighed, running my fingers through my wavy/curly hair. It has just enough waves to make it long, but it's also curly. Which causes it to be fluffy no matter how hard  I will try. I wonder if Warriors hair gel he uses occasionally would work.

"Ow!" I yelped when I accidentally found a knot in my hair and accidentally ripped some of my hair off my head. I rubbed the sore spot wincing. I looked and Legend was raising an eyebrow at me. He patted the empty space next to him. Blushing, I walked over and sat down next to Legend.

"You need to brush your hair more often. If you can explore for hours on end, you have time to brush it." He gently scolded me while he parted my hair. The brush, to my shock, went through my thick hair easily. Where did Legend find a good brush like this? I'm kinda jealous. Most of my brushes get stuck in my hair, or just break.

"Wait a minute, do you even have a hair brush?" He questioned while fixing my rat's nest on the back of my head.

"Ow! No- Ouch! I don't. Ow!" I winced as he tried to figure out how to fix a massive knot. Warriors shook his head and chuckled.

"Do you want to borrow my steel tipped comb? It might help." He offered and Legend hummed in agreement. I watched as Warriors leafed through his bag before  pulling out a small box. He pulled out a comb and handed it over to Legend.

"Thanks, pretty boy," Legend began to comb out the knot.

"Anytime, rat face." Wars smirked. Oh no, here we go again.

"You just had to go there, didn't you?" Four groaned before closing the book and walking out of the inn.

"Okay, fox face!" Legend snarked back. Oh dear goddesses above, just kill me now. I'm sooo not in the mood for this. T^T

"Bubblegum colored hairball,"

"Its pink rose, lemon head!"

Help. Me. Please.

After ten minutes brushing and combing my hair was released from Legend's hold.  I immediately proceeded to bolt out the door so I wouldn't hear them squawk anymore. I rubbed my ears as I began to wander around the small town. Four was reading his book underneath a tree.

"Did they stop? Or are they still going?" His blue flecked eyes stared back up at me.

"Naw, it'll be awhile." He hummed and went back to reading. Time, Twilight, and Wind had gone fishing but I wasn't interested in fishing at the moment. I wonder where Sky and Wild are…  I glanced around until I arrived at the dye shop Wild told everyone about yesterday. Sky and Wild were holding up a piece of white cloth.

"Hi guys, whatcha up too?" I walked into the shop.

"Sky wants to dye this cloth and give it to Sun for their anniversary," Wild grinned at the now blushing Sky.

"It's our second year of dating, so I wanted to do something special." Sky rubbed the back of his neck.

"I want to dye this cobalt blue," Sky told the pink haired man. He rubbed his hands together excitedly.

"Hey Hyrule, wanna dye this for Sky? You can wear some old clothes of mine." Wild grinned at me. That sounds cool! Maybe I can get my hair dyed when I'm done.

"Just click this button and you'll be wearing my old clothes. The clothes you're wearing will be put into my slate." I pressed the button and I was wearing clothes a bit too big. I held the carefully folded up cloth and Wild gave me some brightly colored flowers. I gave him a confused look.

"It dyes the cloth, you stand up there." He pointed to a trapdoor above a vat. I gulped and went where Wild pointed. I gingerly tiptoed on my bare feet onto the trapdoor.

"Hold your breath," my eyes bugged out of my head but before I could react, there was nothing under my feet. I yelped in shock before I landed in the vat. I grabbed the edge and pulled myself up. Wild immediately pulled me out and gave Sky the cloth.

"Uhhhh, Hyrule…." Wild's jaw dropped

"What?" I questioned.

"Uh, one sec!" Wild snapped a photo of me.

"Somehow your hair got dyed too… I don't know what happened, that's never happened to me before." I stared at the photo in shock. I was soaking wet, my clothes and hair are now cobalt blue.

"Hmmm, someone must've put hair dye in the vat, I'm sorry about that sonny." I shrugged.

"It's fine, I wanted to dye it anyway."  I did not want my hair to be this exact color, but oh well. I can change later.

"Sorry about that 'Rule. I can help you fix it after dinner."

"A-after dinner?" I squeaked.

"I was supposed to be cooking thirty minutes ago." He sighed before giving me back the slate. I pressed the button and I was in my normal brown tunic and pants.

"I'll see you guys at the inn," I raced out of the shop, embarrassed. Thankfully nobody paid attention to me. Four's jaw dropped in shock when he saw my hair.

"Did Wild prank you after all?" His eyes were red, blue, green, and purple. He was shaking a bit.

"Apparently, he tricked me into getting this hair color!" I blushed as Four burst into laughter, he even put his book down. I rubbed the back of my neck before going inside. I headed off into our hotel room and I poked my head in the doorway. Warriors was reading a book, while Legend was sewing what looked like a quilt. I gulped nervously. Legend paused mid stitch and looked up at me. He froze. His green eyes twinkled before he snickered. But he didn't laugh.

"Oh no! What on earth happened to you?" Wars looked up from his book in horror.

"Umm, Wild decided to prank me and this is the result?" I blushed again.

"That is a horrendous color! It doesn't match your skin tone at all!" Warriors shook his head in disgust.

"I can't fix it until after dinner, Wild said he couldn't help me until then." I groaned, burying my head into my hands.

"You can borrow a beanie from me, so that the others don't find out." Offered Warriors, holding up a brown hat of sorts.

"Okay," I replied and he tossed the hat to me. I dropped it by accident and bent over to pick it up.

"I can't wait to show everyone the fish we caught!" Wind chirped as the door opened. I let out a yelp of horror. Legend reacted quickly and covered me with the unfinished quilt. I yanked the "beanie" on my head.

"Where's Hyrule? Four said he was inside with you guys?" Wind questioned. I carefully crawled under the bed. I noticed that Legend's pin cushion was underneath the bed.

"He's under the bed, I dropped my pin cushion and he offered to get it." Legend calmly replied.

"I found it!" I called out and crawled out from underneath the bed. I pushed the beanie out of my eyes and gave Legend the pincushion. It's a bit big, I hope it stays in place until I get it fixed.

“Hey, Hyrule, look at the fish we caught!” Wind gestured to the 3 foot long fish. My jaw dropped in shock, I grinned at Wind.

“We have some more, just a little smaller.” Twilight and Time held up the fishes they had.

“Holy birds! We’ll be feasting tonight!” Sky exclaimed as he walked into the room and the room suddenly started to feel cramped.

“I think it might be a good idea to go to my house now.” Wild rubbed the back of his neck at the glares from over half the chain.

“It was in the middle of the night when we arrived! I didn’t think  you guys would be awake enough to walk up the hill.” Wild defended himself. The rest of the chain grumbled loudly before agreeing.

“Alright then, everyone pack up!” The corners of Time’s lips twitched before he smiled.

“Hey Twilight can ya grab the red seasoning from the shelf?” Wild called over his shoulder. I glanced up at the shelf that was above my head. Twilight grunted loudly before grabbing the small container and tossed it to Wild. He caught it without even looking at it.

“Hey Hyrule?” Legend’s voice startled me.

“Can we talk?” He gestured outside.

“Um, sure.” I got up and followed Legend outside. He walked over to a grassy spot and sat down.

“Hyrule, I have an important question.” He gave me his most serious look I’ve ever seen on his face. I sat down, fidgeting nervously.

“Are you… Uhh, how do I put this? Are you a girl?” His red eyes were filled with kindness.

“I’m a girl.” I admitted.

“Hmmm… I’m assuming you didn’t tell us because you were afraid.” He wasn’t guessing because he’s correct.

“I was afraid you wouldn’t believe I was a hero because I’m a girl.” I felt tears spring to my eyes and I swiped at them with my sleeves.

“Hyrule.... We would’ve believed you, I believe you right?” Legend gently brushed away my tears.

“Yeah, it's just… People didn’t believe I was the chosen hero because I’m a girl….” I choked and Legend hugged me tight.

“Girls are heroes. I know plenty of women who are heroes. You are one of them.” I buried my head into his shoulder and hugged him back tightly.

“I want to tell the others,” I replied, my voice muffled by his tunic.

“I think Time and Twilight already know if that helps.”

“... It does.”

~~~~
Legend gently squeezed my shoulder to encourage me when we walked back into the house. I cleared my throat loudly.
“Um, guys? I have something to tell you.” I shifted awkwardly but Legend gently smiled at me.
“I’m a girl, so I would prefer if you use she/her pronouns from now on.” I expected everyone to be upset but they weren’t.
“Thank you for telling us,” Warriors smiled and everyone else smiled back at my blushing face.  Wind sprang to his feet and gave me a hug.
“I guess you’re my big sister now!” He held onto me tightly and I hugged him back.
