Chapter Text
Note(s): I am glad I am going for this and aiming to finish. Because I have seen a lot of minor mistakes. Though this chapter has a lot of those for some reason. And while it may seem like it, there is no connection to any other fandom. Despite, taking certain names of other magic characters that use this when it comes to their abilities.
And put a part of Chapter 1 here, with adding another part to it (slightly). And the characters were originally introduced in the next chapter; however, with the tweaks I have been doing. They will show up at the end of this one instead. And the characters don’t belong to me. And this will start veering off. Thought I was going to incorporate some of the 2nd one. But didn't like it as much as the first one. And the third isn't close to coming out, so a lot of this is going to be my own interpretation thus forth.
Finding themselves in a corridor, the all stop moving knowing that being caught is no longer an issue. “If I may?!” He holds his arms out for her. She walks briskly into them. Returning his embrace, she leans her forehead against his. “I missed you. I am glad this is finally over.” Looking down at her, “you no longer need to worry about that. I am not leaving you again.”
She wraps her arms around his neck; as he brings her closer. Tightening his grip, he brings her closer. The Horsemen standing there awkwardly, witnessing such a private moment. Atlas, Jack and Merritt feeling let down. But then it figures, a woman like her would be taken.
Merritt clears his throat. Dylan pulling away from her embrace. But keeping his arm around her shoulder. “We clearly didn’t mean to interrupt what was a lover’s moment.” Henley speaks for the rest of them. Starting to laugh at this, she turns to Dy; to see amusement in his eyes. The others staring confused at this.
“He’s my father.” “So, that means you are unattached?” “Yes.” Daniel immediately walks forward. Taking a hold of her hand, he brings it to his lips. The younger male is able to feign disinterest at this. ‘Of course, someone that beautiful would go for someone like Daniel.’
Noticing the two’s reactions, she pulls her hand out of his; at Henley’s hurt expression. “Merritt, may not really care. But I would never encroach on someone who already belongs to another.” Not removing her gaze from Henley, who returns it with gratitude and appreciation. Not giving any of the men time to respond.
“Davey, why don’t you show them around?!” Dylan says. Do his bidding, she turns her back to them. “I will have a room prepared for her as well.” She answers Dy’s unspoken question. “If all of you would follow me.” Dylan happy that she is appearing to have no problem finally being able to associate with people mostly her age and other people, period.
Merritt and Henley flanking her sides. Daniel and Jack taking the rear. “Your name is Davey?” Merritt asks. “No. It’s one of his nicknames for me. He actually named me Sylvia Davenport-Hawkins. Davenport comes from Ira and William.” “Davenport, yeah?! Davey makes sense then. But Hawkins?” “Because I almost immediately picked up, I notice more than others; and I was to be his bird in certain matters.”
“Sounds like he isn’t yours biologically.” “You’re right there.” “Makes the closeness a bit more understandable; with no blood shared between either of you.” Henley adds. “It might have been though. We did have a moment before our voluntary separation. But he has told me he has found someone. And I couldn’t be happier for him. But to answer your curiosity.
Dylan actually told me once, that we actually wound up saving each other. I was spiraling downward; on the road to slowly starving to death. Not knowing my name, where I came from. Or even if I was still wanted out there somewhere. But I might have been. There were moments, I would have a hazy image of who I think she was, what she looked like. A genuine and comforting smile always on her face.
And while Dylan has let a certain negative emotion drive him. He has come to realize without me; it would have come to consume him. And have left him with nothing but bitterness. I was the only reason he would get up on particular days. And if I remember, I had lived in the city for a year before he had found me. I don’t know how I got there. All I know is that I managed to make it to Tampa.
It had been like something had been guiding me. I was left alone a lot for some reason. And that month for some reason, I kept striking out; when I never had before. Every time I would be about to snatch what food I was able to get my hands on, I would be busted. I was finally giving up hope. And don’t know how much longer I would have lasted, before he literally ran into me.
Without him, who knows where I would be now. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for him, at this point. He is the only person I have ever been loyal to. Which is really ironic, since he only tends to leave some of our meeting out of when he bothers to retell it. The good parts he said. And not what I did before; and never once realizing he knew the whole time.
I tailed him. In my desperation, I decided to pick his pocket. But I should have thought, I wasn’t exactly an expert yet. But finding and needing food blinded me. And somehow, I was still able to keep my innocence and naivete.
He has traveled alone for almost twenty-two years; ever since he became a legal adult (18). Always landing on his feet, something he learned long ago, being an unwanted child; never being fostered nor adopted. Simply watching and observing, traits that he will benefit from; but for now, he is learning the artifices his dad had been able to teach him. With the time for him to start putting his plan in motion taking fruit. Her proximity on the edges of his thinking and awareness. ‘I’ll play along. She is just a kid after all. You remember what it was like being in such a situation yourself, Dylan.'
Finding himself in Tampa, Florida, where he happens upon the girl child. Not knowing how much she will come to change his life. His main focus at the moment is just have barely escaping the person he stole money from. But life’s trajectory changes the course he is on, as he rounds the corner. Halting his movements as he collides with the pint-sized person. And since he hadn’t anticipated someone standing there, he quickly falls over, taking her with him.
Immediately getting up, he stares at the girl. Staring down at her, she hasn’t bothered to move. And is watching him in return. “You just going to stay there and not move, kid?” “Why, it is just a matter of time before I succumb to my situation.” “Clearly, you are a survivor; so why would you say that and just give up?!” She starts to sit up.
“And that is how I wound up being his apprentice and daughter. The very first magic feat I witnessed and he had me accomplish, was when he had pulled an apple out of thin air, the day we met. In my euphoria at seeing food, I held it to my chest. Before he gave me an even more precious gift; “and if I would like to learn?!” I answered by asking “what his name was?! I didn’t fall asleep too long after that. And my name and everything else stuck. And here I am now.”
She stops before opening the door in front of them. “Here is your room, Merritt. The two on the other side are for you and Mr. Wilder, Mr. Atlas. Enjoy your rooms. Ms. Reeves, if you would follow me. Our rooms are on the other side of this hallway. And if for whatever reason, you need Dylan. His will be by the stairs. But for now, I will be in my office with Dylan, possibly his girlfriend and others. Excuse me. Ms. Reeves, I will show the correct one on the way.”
Half of a fortnight goes by. She has spent these days giving them a thorough tour. They are currently in what passes as an auditorium; of this particular Eye facility. Merritt is sitting in a corner of the stage. Atlas and Henley the other. She and Jack sitting in the center. Having gotten bored with all she has shown them. They have decided to shoot the breeze and see what she is capable of.
And she only acquiesced if she could show them one by one. Still hesitant and shy of the attention she can and will garner. Finding all their combined abilities just too flashy for her. And at the moment, Jack showing some of his card tricks to her. “What is your favorite card?” He asks going into his next trick.
“Her f’vrit’ card is Ac’ of Sp’ds.” The lisp answers. The brightest smile and twinkle appearing on her countenance. Jack deflates at her reaction. Standing up, she is half way off the stage before the others can grasp what happened. “DAVEY!” DAVEY”!” They are put down; as Dylan can no longer hold onto their squirming. The Horsemen are standing at this point, staring down at the interruption.
“William!” Picking him up, he wraps his arms around her. As she looks around at the others who are now gathered around, vying and hoping for her attention. “Sylvia! Sylv! Davey, Davey!!” “Woah, take it easy there. One at a time.” “But its not fair; he is always first.” She looks to the lady by Dy. “I take it you are Alma Dray.” She bows her head, as William looks around. Never loosing his grip on her. “Thank you.” Sylvia adds.
“These are the Four Horsemen. Merritt, Henley, Mr. Atlas and Wilder; this is Megan, Gwyen, Stephen, Agatha, Illyana, Wanda and of course, William. And my little wiccan is right. The Ace of Spades is my favorite card. For it is able to never able to go wrong. Each person has their own strength more than others possess; and this card represents that.
And I greatly appreciate all your help. I can see how happy you make him. Lord knows it was about time he met someone who can make him happier.” “He happens to be standing right here. Come the council is expecting us. The rest of you can go to your rooms. Someone will send for you.” “Ahh, but does that mean us too, Uncle Rhodes?!” “It does. If you really want to follow in our footsteps, attending these are a part of this.”
