Chapter Text
Ruby had trouble staying conscious after Tyrian stabbed her with his tail, she couldn’t remember how long he had been carrying her for, it could’ve been days at this point. Every now and then she would hear his maniacal cackling, she started to lose hope for a rescue, she was going to be taken probably to Cinder if that happens then she is going to die.
Ruby couldn’t care at this point her conscience was fading she had lost the will to go on, his venom coursing through her veins.
This was it.
The end of her adventure.
“AARRGGGHHH!!!!”
Ruby hit the ground, Tyrian was probably terrorising some other people again.
Wait. That was Tyrian screaming out in pain!
Ruby quickly shot up to see what was happening she saw a man wearing a white coat with white hair holding what looked to be a katana, Ruby couldn’t make out the details she was incredibly tired due to the venom.
“YOU BASTARD!” Tyrian yelled at the white haired man.
“Run back to whatever hole you crawled out of creep, unless you want to lose more limbs!” The man retorted.
Tyrian was muttering to himself, something about ‘she’ll forgive this’. The man turned to Ruby and crouched beside her.
“You alright?” He asked.
“What… h-happened (cough)” Ruby asked back it was hard to talk.
“I saw that creep back there running with you wrapped in his tail and thought I should step in” he glanced down to her waist and saw a puncture wound.
“Glad I did, let me guess he stabbed you with this and now you’re poisoned?” He asked holding up Tyrians cut off tail.
Ruby nodded weakly.
“Ok don’t speak just try not to move the more you move the faster the venom will spread, I’ll start making an anti venom but until then drink this it should slow down the venom” he poured the liquid down her throat.
When she swallowed it she felt herself fall asleep this made her panic she thought she was dying, she stared to breathe heavily and her heart was racing, the man took notice.
“NO! listen calm down the liquid was supposed to put you to sleep you are not dying but if you panic now you might, so calm down!” He was holding Ruby down to help her stay still.
Ruby started to control her breathing trying to slow her heart down.
“Ok that’s better you can go to sleep I’ll have you cured by the time you wake up” he promised.
With that said Ruby began to drift to sleep having put her life in a strangers hands
Hours later
When Ruby woke up it was night and a makeshift camp had been set up, her waist was bandaged and she was alone. She wondered if the stranger had abandoned her in the woods.
She had hoped not, she didn’t even get to thank him.
Footsteps approached from behind. Ruby turned with an eep, she was startled by the sudden sound.
“Oh good you’re finally awake” he seemed relieved.
“How are you feeling?” He asked.
“U-uh a lot better now, thank you!” She said with a bow.
“No need for that” he brushed off.
Now that her vision was restored she could make out his details he looked older than her and Yang but younger than uncle Qrow, he had blue eyes one of which looked a bit off, he wore red gloves with a black shirt under his coat along with grey trousers and boots, he was holding his katana sheathed and had a broad sword on his back and he wore a satchel on his hip.
“No but really I’m pretty sure he was going to kill me” Ruby said shivering.
“Actually I don’t think that was his intention, judging from how quickly you recovered from the venom I’d say he just wanted you to be immobile and dazed for a while he didn’t give you enough to kill you” he stated.
“You sure do know a lot about this”
“Well when you’re in my line of work for 10 years you have to pick up a few things” he stated.
“What line of work would that be?” She asked cautiously.
“I am a local huntsman for hire” he answered.
“WOW! You’ve been a huntsman for 10 years!?” She went into full fan girl mode for a bit.
“Kinda I was unlicensed for a while until someone at Haven caught wind of me and offered one to me” he admitted.
“woah that’s cool I’m still a huntress in training” she gushed.
“Then I’d say you need a better teacher” he stated as a simple fact.
“What! Why?” She was caught off guard by that.
“Tell me do you fight unarmed?” He asked calmly.
“Uh well, no” she answered shyly.
“Can you show me your weapon?” He asked with a hint of anger.
“I Uh don’t have it with me I dropped it when I was captured” she tried to ague back.
“Your first mistake is a fatal, there is only one reason to not have your weapon on a mission and that’s if you’re dead!” He barked at her.
“B-but I” Ruby tried to retort but found nothing to say back.
“No buts! You should never lose possession of your weapon on a mission, if you do your dead! Now get to sleep its late and you need rest” he tuned and started to get ready for sleep.
Ruby was still in shock from the harsh lesson she just took but she did hope he could teach her more.
She laid down on a sleeping bag he prepared and drifted to sleep.
