Work Text:

"So wait, that person back there mentioned how you told them you didn't have a soul… are you a vampire or something?" Mirri asked as they were leaving the all important building full of stuffy bureaucrats and war generals behind.  Wylarin glanced up at her before taking a moment to think of her answer. Never a good sign with her ,Bastian thought.

"No, I'm actually a werewolf. But anyways, I at one point didn't have a soul because it was taken by Molag Bal. I woke up in cold harbor and was saved by Lyris- that's where I know her from actually." The Bosmer explained, looking up at both of them before sheepishly continuing her story at their mildly horrified looks, "we managed to escape and I found myself in Khenarthi's Roost where I was told I washed up there and should join the dominion in Vulkhel guard… So I did.  Uh.. you guys know that closed off cave on the coast of it? That's where I met the prophet, who called me the vestige. He and Lyris and a few others helped me get my soul back. Took forever though."

Wylarin may as well have been telling them she hung the stars based on their looks. "How'd you get your soul back?" Bastian asked.

"I defeated Molag Bal and so Meridia gave me my soul. But before that I went around using the fact that I had no soul to help others. I even got turned into a wisp once."

Mirri blinked multiple times before gently shaking the smaller Mer by the shoulders,  "so wait when that crazy guy with the pot on his head called you the savior of Nirn he wasn't lying?!"

The redhead had the decency to flush and shake her head, "no not really…"

"Hold on, changing subject real quick; are you really the thane to solitude?!"

"And i'm a shield thane to Morthal, but yeah. I helped princess Svanna, Lyris and Fennorian take down high king Svogrim because he was under the influence of a vampiric lord."

Both Mirri and Bastian stared at her before screaming out in utter shock, especially knowing that these events happened not long before they met their companion.

"HOW MANY OTHER THINGS HAVE YOU DONE?!"

"...I may need to sit down and think on that one, there's a lot."

"OH MY GODS"

They spent the next several hours sat in a small tavern discussing just how many incredible feats Wylarin has accomplished, each time the Bosmer in question getting more and more shy when it came to how amazing she was. However, the clattering of a dropped tray of glasses and plates interrupted their most recent point of discussion.

"Jode and Jone! You're the moon hallowed! Is it true you really went to Jode's plane and faced down Javard Tharn with Mane Shazah?!" The rightfully excited Khajiti waitress was looking at the flustered Bosmer with sparkles practically shining in her eyes.

"O-oh well, uh yes it's True, but it's not a big deal…" Wylarin tried to dismiss the subject, however Bastian looked at her as if she was crazy,  "by the Divines, Wyli,I was THERE for that fight and it wasn't something you could easily dismiss! We were all over Malabal Tor and Reapers March to help the dominion-" anything else he was hoping to say died on his tongue when the overexcited waitress fainted beside the table. Mirri snapped out of the trance she seemed to go into when hearing thrilling stories and was quick to administer some smelling salts before fixing her friends with a look that meant she wanted to know more as soon as they made it to wherever Wylarin decided they'd spend the night. Said elf simply sighed before paying their tab and led the other two to the nearest wayshrine.

No one spoke during the mystical ride through the way shrines so when they touched down in Bal Foyen it was rather surprising for Mirri and Bastian. Wylarin quickly led them straight to a rather humble looking mud home- Humblemud- and unlocked the door for them. Once inside the other two made note of the few decorations of varying style as well as the wood elf style hammock mounted on the wall with the help of branches. The home was small, and a bit quaint but it was warm and had an air of comfort that battlefields tended to lack.

After everyone had shed their weapons and outer- layers of armor, they all went outside to the courtyard to finish their conversation...or at least that was the plan, but it seemed Wylarin was trying to build up a mental wall as to keep the other two out.

"Well this just won't do, Wyli." Mirri tsked, bumping shoulders with the other woman. Said woman simply raised an eyebrow at her sudden conversation change. Seeing as she didn't hear any objections, the Dark elf continued on with her point, "You never told me you had a home so close to Stonefalls, we're practically neighbors!" She explained, an amused look on her face.  The sentiment managed to get a snicker out of the homeowner so both guests were feeling much better. Bastian saddled up on the other side of their host and bumped her shoulder as well, "you never told us you were a home owner, never mind that it's in Bal Foyen."

Wylarin laughed a bit before shrugging, her tunics sleeve rustling against both Mirri's and Bastian's, "In my defense, we've not really had to come over in this direction yet." She explained. They all sat in comfortable silence for a while after that, just looking at the stars and moons in the sky until they were all rather tired.  When sleep weighed on their eyes and made their thoughts fuzzy, they wandered inside and all laid down- Wylarin being lucky in the fact that she got to sleep on her own bed for once- and were almost asleep before someone had to ask the question burning in their heads,

"Wy, did you ever do anything like this stuff when you were a child?" There was a long pause before the sleep addled and choked up response came, "...I don't remember my life before I woke up in ColdHarbor."
