      I feel like Paul Hanbridge really straddles the line of emotionally abusive so it makes sense that Andrew struggles with feelings. Like maybe not totally abusive but he’s really toeing that line. And straddles the line between helicopter parent and neglectful parent. Have you ever noticed during Diana’s family story arc Paul leaves the manor in a huff and leaves Andrew there? It’s a really strange moment.

        Another thing is like he’s well aware the Cavendishes are witches like he should know that whatever conversation is going to probably be magical in nature. And he gets pissed off about a conversation magical in nature and leaves Andrew there with Daryl fekkin snakes comin out of her dress Cavendish like yeah all this seems safe lol.

        yeah... I try to write him as sort of a better person but I feel like in any occasion he would still not be the best parent just from a lack of parenting skills like "eh what do I do with this kid I'll just have the servants deal with him"
        I have a head canon that Andrew probably asked to stay, feeling that whatever happened would probably be interesting and also wanting to be around Akko

        Yeah... he does a lot to help her whenever he's in the show. This man not only shows everyone in the entire ball his secret talent that he's been forbidden from pursuing for a decade so that she won't be the center of attention, but he also offers to deal with the aftermath of the duel which not only destroyed Appleton's precious relic but also destroyed large chunks of the school, I think? And almost killed the chairman's son? Andrew probably got in a lot of trouble for both of those things, but he took the fall for Akko, and if that's not a canon sign of him liking her I don't know what is.

        Oh I firmly believe he likes her. His world is narrow and melancholic except for Frank until he meets her. Episode 17 raises a huge amount of questions speaking of. The presence of a chapel and a gold grail on Appleton’s premises means that Catholic Christianity and the story of Jesus exist in this world. If so, was Jesus a wizard? Why does a boys prep school in modern England have a biblical relic if it is the one true grail? And if not, what purpose is it serving aside from being a vessel for Croix’s dark magic fueling and feeding on Louis’s negativity. Do they regularly perform services and Communion? Why is this rumor about holy relics circulating around blytonbury? Also if the laws of physics were in play, Louis would be dead about 10 times over. Croix just be like whatevs lol almost killin a bunch of teenagers. Log that into the experiment database and treat myself to some ramen! Wtf is going on. It’s my favorite episode but sweet Maria what is going on?

        So many questions
        I think it's likely that they force them to go to church and I can picture all sorts of shenanigans there... and I've tried to think about religion and magic especially because of like magic being the devil in the logic of burning witches at the stake but that gets deep into philosophy and I don't have the brainpower right now.
        The holy grail? I don't know, my dude. it makes no sense that they have it. I think it's just sort of there on display and Appleton probably can have it since they're such an institution or whatever... it's not really modern England over there, they are all wearing tails and there's tradition and stuff. The grail should be in a museum somewhere but *whoops* Louis just casually breaks it to annoy the witches. Yes he should be dead but there are no physics in anime. I think Croix probably didn't care all that much and then was more remorseful later about, you know, murder, at least I hope...
        I love that episode too because we get to see Andrew both in his own environment and around Akko and you can tell he has the upper hand because he seems so happy to see her all smirking, etc. He's a lot more casual in that episode and in the other ones he's just sorta there and hating it.

  Her story is awfully sad when you think about it. Sure she had pop fame for a couple years but her school years were full of worries and after her career declined, causing her massive anxiety, she was disgraced by the entire magic community. So much so she went into hiding under an assumed name. And the reminder hovers in the night sky.

Come to think of it, in the not-really-canon manga that gave us Sucy's Horrible Family, didn't she crush pretty hard on Sucy's authentically-tan cousin? This is thus hewing close to weird pseudocanon.

  Oooooo I wish I had a chance to read that manga version. I’ve only ever seen the manga where Sucy grows up in Ramza’s foster care. But I’ve seen snippets and one panel of Sucy’s mother. Are they a terrible lot?
  I figure Lotte has a wide range of attractions. An avid reader and romance fan with an open mind is bound to find a lot of beauty in the world and it’s inhabitants lol.

    I really just read the one chapter--it has a weirdly unfriendly tone, so Sucy's family is intended to be wacky and a little cruel like Sucy but comes off as legitimately unhinged and unpleasant. It's influenced my writing of Sucy as escaping from an abusive family through attending Luna Nova (and deciding to attend because of Akko, rather than just, say, another kind of escape... did I just get heavy in the comments section? I sure did).
    I too have a pan Lotte headcanon. Pan-poly, at that. She's such a happy ball of fluff I can't imagine her just having one partner.

  Much appreciated! I’ll be the first to admit I’m not really into Diakko. I get why it’s popular and I’m not against it I just always saw Diana as more of an Ace. And I definitely didn’t start out on a die hard mission to ship lads and ladies, i just went with who I thought had chemistry. Frandrew has in recent months risen to my second favorite ship. Loumanda is always gonna be top for me just cuz they’re both hothead idiots in different sort of ways and it’s a great source for tension and spice. And I like how they’re drawn which big surprise is a factor for me.
