Work Text:
“Idiot!”
“Waste of space!”
“Fatty!”
“Monster!”
“Get out of the way, nerd!”
“What are you gonna do, cry about it? Huh? Crybaby!”
“God, you’re so stupid!”
“No one likes you!”
“Freak!”
“Oh look, it’s good for nothing Alexander!”

Alex speed-walked home, roughly wiping tears from his face. He never knew how rude people could be until he started school. He ran into his house, his mind running a mile a minute.
He opened the door and heard George yelling at someone in his office. Lafayette was in the living room, but he didn’t notice Alex since he was on the phone, laughing loudly. Alexander took off his shoes and sprinted to his room.
He closed the door, locked it and threw his bag down, more tears welling in his eyes. He collapsed onto his bed and sobbed into his pillow. He ended up crying himself to sleep.

Just another day at the worst school with the worst people, Revolutionary High. He sighed, suddenly very tired, before heading in.
He met up with his best friends, said hello to his girlfriend, and talked and made jokes with all 6 of them, and blocked out his thoughts. Talking to his friends was probably the only thing he liked about the school. They made him happy, even if only for a little.

He had just finished Debate, and he was pretty sure that he destroyed Jefferson, but then again, even a 6 year old could crush him in a debate. He put his bag in his locker and got ready for lunch. He headed straight to the Cafeteria.
He was almost there, until he was stopped by none other than Thomas Jefferson.
“Hey, Good For Nothing Alexander!” Jefferson yelled. Alex tried walking around him and ignoring him, but Jefferson wouldn’t allow it.
“What, trying to run away? Are you gonna go and cry, huh? Huh?” he said, getting all in Alexander’s face. He shoved Alex.
“You’re so annoying. I dont even understand how you beat me in every debate a-a-alth-h-hough y-you t-talk like t-t-this,” Jefferson mocked. Alex scoffed and shoved him out of the way, walking past him.
“Yeah, go and cry like you always do!” Jefferson called after him. Alex rolled his eyes and ignored him.

On his way to lunch, he bumped into Aaron Burr.
They used to be friends, but something happened, and Aaron switched to Jefferson’s squad. Same thing with Madison, but only because Madison was mainly friends with Jefferson.
They were friends for a bit, but when Jefferson came back from his vacation in france, Madison pretended like he hadn’t even known who Alex was. Of course it hurt, but Alex had better friends who weren’t just pretending (Or were they? They could just be pretending to like him, but until they told him that, he’s stuck assuming that they enjoyed his company).
Aaron had bumped into his shoulder, and Alex was about to say sorry, but Aaron shoved him to the floor. Burr got close to his face and pointed his finger accusingly in his face.
“Listen, Hamilton. Stay out of my way. You’re taking law, and succeeding, when that’s supposed to be me. Debate, it’s a piece of cake, when that’s supposed to be me. Writing, you’re excelling in, when that should be me! You’re just trying to one up me, arent you? Huh? You are a burden. No wonder your cousin committed suicide if he was living with you. And you’re so annoying. If I were your father, I’d walk out on you too. And your brother probably got so tired of you, and that’s why he left. Hamilton, It’s your fault almost everyone in your town died. It’s because you just watched it happen, instead of getting help. Everyone that left you, it’s all your fault. ” He said, his voice barely a yell. At the end of Burr’s spiel, he was staring at Burr, disbelief in his expression as tears made their way down his cheeks. Burr was never supposed to bring that up.
When they were still friends, Alex had told him his whole life story, and Burr told him his. Burr had sworn never to use it against him. He thought he could trust Burr even if they weren’t friends anymore.
Burr got out of Alex’s face, stood up and dusted himself off. Alex’s breathing hitched, and he felt like he was going to burst into loud sobs right there, but he didn’t want to, not right in front of Burr.
He scrambled to his feet and ran to the washroom, shoving past a group of kids as he ran.

Alex was trying to control his breathing, while tears made their way down his cheeks. He thought back to what Burr said.
All your fault.
Alex put his head in his arms and sobbed.
It was all my fault.
