"Do you ever think how ironic it is that people think of you as the hero of Beacon? The warrior who rose above the Fall of Beacon?"
Ruby closes her eyes as she hears Cinder's words. She already knows where it is going.
"People believe it was you who tried to stop me, you who fought me, but it wasn't you."
Ruby tries to block out her words. She knows what people think of the Fall of Beacon, the made-up stories that have been passed around. Not a lot of people know the truth, know what really happened.
"It was Pyrrha who tried to stop me, who fought me. She was the brave warrior at Beacon, but she has been forgotten about."
Ruby feels her eyes start to tear up at the thought of Pyrrha, how she watched her die, how people had forgotten about her.
"Your only relevance at the battle was using your silver eyes after watching your girlfriend die."
Ruby heard Cinder chuckle and she felt something besides tears in her eyes.
"And now, instead of avenging your dead girlfriend, you are in a relationship with the girl who murdered her."
Ruby opened her eyes and for a moment, she thought her silver eyes would activate.
But instead, her eyes did nothing as Cinder bent over and kissed her on the lips.
"You are brave, just not in the way Pyrrha was. You will never be like her."
