Moon's Glow and Sunbeams

Summary:

Kyojuro has not seen his lover in a long while..however he is in for a surprise on the day of a total Solar Eclipse.

Notes:

Day 2: Sun-Moon/Parents

I wanted to do something where these two are a sun god and moon god who came together and made a little star god. I actually think that if Kyojuro were to touch Akaza when the sun rises it will definitely burn him since Akaza isn't used to the touch of sunlight like many others are. Also their gods, so I think they would have the ability to have children with those of the same gender as them.

Akio is a baby oc I made with a friend of mine. He is so very precious to me ^^ hope you guys enjoy! Not beta read.

Work Text:

Many of the deities of this world were not fond of the Moon God.

Granted while he never failed in his duties as a God, there was something about him that seemed to dip too far into the darkness. Perhaps it was also that his soft glow was so fickle and tended to dim throughout the months depending on how low or high in the sky he was when night fell over the lands. Then there were his worshippers who were always in his company.

From the lowest demons to the highest ranking general they flocked under him, basking in moon's glow when at it's fullest since the night was the only time for them to be awake and safe from the unforgiving light of day. However despite how he was alienated from so many of his fellow immortals, strangely enough he was never shunned by the God of the Sun who was the most respected and loved god amongst them. Even his fellows were dazzled and enraptured by his sunny smile and honest warmth especially with how he mingled amongst the mortals, treating them as equals.

Yet he always had such a soft spot for the God of the Moon, something that only those closest to him were able to accept and understand-like the God of Festivities and his brother the God of Dawn and Dusk. The only two who knew of the grand love affair between the Sun and Moon that had started when Kyojuro had snuck away from his palace in the clouds to explore the night where he stumbled upon a beautiful being bathing under the light of the full moon. What started as a misunderstanding began to grow into a friendship and then bloomed into a love between two opposite sides of the sky.

However in the last nine years-nine months to the gods since time for them passed differently in their realm-the Moon God was nowhere to be found on the earth. His worshippers were tight lipped when asked about him and when anyone tried to enter the temple or summon him, they were met with the misfortune of running into his brother the God of War, Hakuji. However even his brother was growing concerned since he had not seen his twin in so long.

The Solar Eclipse was approaching fast as the mortals were preparing for a celebration; it was the one time of year the Moon and Sun came together in the sky to join as one even for only a couple moments together.

However there is tension in the air for fear the God of the Moon wasn't going to show up due to his unusual silence.

This did not help the Sun God Kyojuro as he sits in a palanquin where his younger brother is fixing his hair while the fire sprites adjust his yukata, his hair pins and everything else he wore for such an occasion. He looked up a bit and blinked slowly before he sighed.

"...Brother..." Senjuro slowly floated up to face him, light as a cloud as the colors of dawn shimmer in his eyes, "You seem anxious...usually you are bursting at the seams to see Akaza."

"I..." Kyojuro sighed before he waves away his sprites, sending them away, "...I worry he is not coming...no one has seen Akaza in so long...I fear he maybe...angry with me..."

"Now why would that be?" Senjuro moved around now, pulling the while hair back into a half up style, "Brother you and Akaza have been together for almost a century now. No matter how many disagreements you may have, you two always come back together. Literally and metaphorically."

Kyojuro smiled a bit at that however it did nothing to quell the anxiety he felt. Not after that night so long ago...

He remembered so vividly how they consummated under the new moon; how beautiful Akaza looked as the twilight of dawn shone dimly enough to illuminate his face. At first all was fine as the sky had become brighter and brighter...and then the sun had risen.

Never in his life had he heard such a pained scream as Kyojuro had released himself inside his beloved...only to see that where he touched him under the sun's light became horrible burned. When he remembered the horrible moment, he remembered panicking as he tried to comfort his beloved; touching his face and trying to rub his arm, only for those to become burned as well.

All the pain in that face that had been lost in euphoria only moments before now was burnt and in tears. Kyojuro could still remember how he had scrambled off him and how scared he looked...

"Brother?"

He's snapped out of his own thoughts as he looked down at his brother, "...Ah...forgive me. I was lost in thought."

"Hmm..." Senjuro looked about to say something, when he's interrupted by the sound of horns.

Kyojuro stands up suddenly when he hears this his eyes widening a bit when he pushes the curtains of his palanquin to the side...and feels his heart beat when he sees the familiar moon carriage that ascends from the sky and lands upon the earth...just as the moon in the sky begins to slowly begin eclipsing the sun. Shakily he reached up and gripped at his chest as the gorgeous white horses with moonbeams in their mains and tails stop. A tanuki in a blue yukata that has the moon sigil on the collar hopped down and moved to the side of the carriage...however there is something...different.

The carriage was glittering softly with small orbs around it. Slowly the door was open into the carriage as the mortals kneel between the Palanquin and the Carriage to make a path between the two gods.

Kyojuro took in a deep slow breath before he slowly stepped down. At the same time he can see a familiar bare foot stepping out of the carriage.

He feels his hear pounding in his chest at the figure that steps off the steps, clad in a silver yukata with phases of the moon sewn along the sleeves and the soft pink hair that glows a faint purple under the gentle light.

Akaza looked up finally. On the side of his left cheek was a faded old scar on his cheek. He wore a haori around his shoulders to hide the other burns that were still healing, walking slowly across the soft earth as the moon continues to move to cover more and more of the sun and casts the moon god in it's shadow. However when a few of the mortals sneak a glance they notice...a bundle in the Moon God's arms.

It was a bundle wrapped in the softest blankets of wool from the lambs that surround his temple.

Kyojuro stares at it with the widest eyes slowly covering his mouth as Akaza came closer and closer with it. The Moon God smiled tiredly as he soon was right in front of him.

Slowly he reached out his hand to take Kyojuro's as the soon became fully covered. He froze when the sun god flinched...but with a deep breath he takes his hand and squeezed it sweetly.

"...Hello, sunflower..." He smiled weakly, "...I'm sorry I haven't come to see you for so long..."

His lip wobbled a moment...then he collapsed to his knees and gripped the other's robes with a sob, "Forgive me...! Forgive me, I never meant to hurt you, Akaza! I-I didn't know...I didn't know when the sun would rise...that it would cause me to burn you...I'm...so sorry..." He hiccupped as his tears stain the fabric, his hands trembling.

A hand gently stroked through those golden locks, gently encouraging him to look up at him...and the now moving and whining bundle. Kyojuro gasped softly, eyes widening when Akaza slowly lowered the bundle into Kyojuro's arms.

"I had...so much happening to me in the time after our coupling...It took me a long time to recover from the burns of the sun. Koyuki said it would take me the amount of time it would take our baby to grow in me for the wounds to heal..." he carefully adjusted Kyojuro's arms before kneeling down in front of him with a smile, "...i had to wait...until the eclipse for you to meet Akio..."

Kyojuro's eyes widened as he took it all in before he slowly looked down.

What looks back has his heart melting in an instant; a little baby was looking at him with the biggest amber eyes he had ever seen, with thick white lashes that had stardust glittering off them as they fall on to the blanket when he blinks. Akaza gently caressed the back of his scarred hand along the child's soft little cheek, smiling lovingly at him.

"...I wanted to...tell you but...I felt ashamed of my scars...I know strange coming from the one with demons as his patrons and who loves to spar more than his own brother..." he chuckled weakly, before he slowly pressed his face into the other's shoulders, "..I can't really forgive you when there's nothing to forgive...if anything...I should be begging you forgiveness for making you wait, sunflower..."

He couldn't speak in that moment as he looks down at this baby-their baby-a little godling that was created from that night. It brings fresh tears to his face before he pulled Akaza forwards and kisses him softly.

"You did..." he kisses him again, "absolutely nothing..." another sweet kiss, "wrong, moon lily...my beautiful, wonderful moon lily.."

It's then Akio whines softly getting both their attentions as he reaches his hands up to lightly grip his the Sun God-his sire's-hair. He holds it in those little hands that lightly tug before Akaza shakes his head and lightly slipped his finger in his other hand.

"Akio..." Kyojuro whispered as he smiled lovingly at this child, "A little god of the stars no less..."

"He fills the night sky up..." Akaza nuzzles his lover as he feels both joy and relief, "I want to show you tonight if you will be awake for it...to see the stare our babe puts up in the darkness...it's almost never ending how he creates them..."

"Yes...absolutely yes..!" Kyojuro smiled as he held up Akio to nuzzle his cheek.

The star child gurgled before he smiled and giggled as he nuzzles Kyojuro back.

That day was one of the longest Solar Eclipse' to ever grace these lands as the two gods lovingly doted over their child.

It's said that once the eclipse ended and the two had to part way that a small grove of moon lilies and sunflowers grew side by side...with a small sapling of a cherry blossom tree beginning to grow.
