Chapter Text
Sara Lance was very surprised when she woke up not at the dawn of time, but in a very comfortable bed and in very familiar arms as she rolled over to see herself lying with Ava, and even though she had no idea how she'd gotten here or how any of this had happened, she was just happy that she had Ava back and they were together. That was all that mattered to her right now. Especially since she needed a distraction from the death of her oldest friend.
"Hey, are you okay?" Ava's voice said, drawing her out of her thoughts.
"Yeah, sorry, just lost in thoughts. I didn't mean to wake you." Sara said and Ava smiled.
"I felt you turnover in my arms and you know I'm just as light a sleeper as you are." Ava said as they kissed.
"I'm just glad to be with you." Sara said.
"Since when are you so sappy?" Ava asked her.
"Long story." Sara said.
"Well, as much as I'd love to hear it, I need to get ready for work. You need to make sure that you stay here so that the League doesn't find you." Ava said, confusing Sara, but before she could ask what the hell Ava was talking about, her girlfriend had gotten out of bed and headed into the bathroom.
"Okay, what is going on?" Sara asked as she looked around and finally realized this was not their room on the Waverider, though she guessed her relief at seeing Ava alive had overshadowed that. Instead, she found that this was a bedroom in some kind of apartment, but she didn't know what the hell was going on.
"Confused?" A new voice asked and Sara gritted her teeth as Novu appeared in the room.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Sara asked.
"Relax, I am simply here to provide you with answers to your questions. This is the new universe you helped Oliver Queen create at the dawn of time." Novu said.
"Okay, that explains how all this exists, but it doesn't explain a lot else." Sara said.
"This is where your counterpart from this world, who you've replaced, was living at this point in time." Novu said.
"And what exactly is this point in time?" Sara asked.
"The year 2012. The day Oliver Queen returns home from Lian Yu and yes, he is still alive and like you, he remembers the world the way it once was." Novu said and Sara actually felt a weight be lifted off her shoulders.
"So, is there any other reason you're here?" Sara asked.
"I'm also here to give you the memories of your counterpart from this reality to answer the rest of your questions." Novu said and Sara nodded as he waved his hand to give her the memories.
"Thank you, now get lost." Sara said as Novu chuckled before he disappeared, leaving Sara to go through her new memories.
A majority of her life was the same until the Gambit. Mainly because she was not on it. In this universe, she'd never tried to seduce Oliver, letting her sister have Oliver to herself, which was a relief since it meant that Laurel wouldn't hate her. Unfortunately, Laurel had gone on the Gambit in her place and had been lost then. After she thought her sister had died, Sara had decided to take a trip on cruise to try and take her mind off things before going back to school. Sadly, it seemed like fate still wanted her to suffer, since the cruise she'd been on had been boarded by Anthony Ivo's crew and she'd still ended up being one of his prisoners. From there, things were relatively the same, except for meeting back up with Oliver and Laurel on Lian Yu, though once again, they were separated trying to stop Slade by sinking the Amazo. After that, Sara had once again found her way to the League of Assassins, but this time, she hadn't stayed for longer than 2 years. When she'd been sent on a mission to Fresno to take out a target, something had happened then that hadn't happened before. She'd met Ava, who in this reality, was not a clone, but was a real person who actually had the life she thought she'd have, and at seeing Ava, Sara had decided that she was done with the League, so she'd faked her death and she and Ava had gone into hiding in Hope Springs and had been together ever since. But now that Sara remembered that her fighting skills were far beyond Ra's and knowing that she needed to see Oliver and her sister and father alive again, she knew then and there that she needed to go home without having to look over her shoulder. And honestly, she was pretty sure that Ra's knew where she was somehow.

Sara was so bored of just sitting in the apartment all day. She honestly wasn't sure how her counterpart had put up with it for so long. The worst part was that HBO Max and Disney Plus hadn't been invented yet and neither had most of her favorite shows on Netflix and Hulu either, so she was stuck with a bunch of old shows she found so boring.
"That's it, I need to get out of here." Sara said, honestly not caring if she had to fight a league agent or 20, honestly that sounded a lot more fun than just sitting around doing nothing. She was a woman of action after all, not a couch potato and honestly, she couldn't believe she'd ever been on in this reality.
Just as she was getting her shoes on, Sara felt her phone start to ring and rolled her eyes when she saw it was Ava. However, any witty remark she had died as soon as she heard a voice that was not her girlfriend's.
"You should've known you can't hide from us Ta-er a-Safar." a league member's voice said.
"What did you do to Ava?" Sara snarled.
"Nothing she won't recover from, so long as you surrender yourself." the league member's voice said.
"You should be careful with what you say. After all, there's a good chance they'll be the last words you say." Sara said.
"Empty threats from a woman who doesn't keep her word. You swore an oath to Ra's al Ghul." the league member reminded her.
"And then I decided I wanted my life back and I'm done being your puppet. Don't like it, too bad. But know one thing, I am coming for you." Sara said.
"You have 24 hours to get your affairs in order and then you are to return to Nanda Parbat with me to face punishment for your betrayal. Otherwise, we will turn our attention to the rest of your family." the league member said and Sara felt anger unlike anything she'd felt since her bloodlust.
"Where are you?" Sara asked.
"You'll find out when you come with me to Nanda Parbat." the league member said.
"I hope you have your affairs in order. Because trust me, you're not going to walk away from what I'm going to do to you." Sara said as she hung up before heading to the hospital, since now that the League knew she was here, there was no need to hide.
"Can I help you?" the receptionist at Hope Springs hospital asked her.
"Yes, I'm looking for Ava Sharpe?" Sara asked.
"Name?" the receptionist asked.
"Sara Lance." Sara said as she watched the receptionist type impatiently.
"Ah yes, room 302, but she's currently in surgery. Her doctor will give you a full readout of her injuries." the receptionist said, since Sara was listed as Ava's emergency contact on her doctor's forms.
"Thank you." Sara said as she rushed towards the elevators.
However, she was surprised when she found someone else waiting for her in Ava's room.
"J'onn?" Sara asked the martian, who smiled.
"Hello Sara. I have to admit, you were a lot harder to find than I thought you'd be before you ask, no I am not Ava's attacker. Honestly I didn't even know you were here until I heard you coming." J'onn said.
"Then why are you here? No offense?" Sara asked.
"None taken. Ava is a DEO agent and since she's one of our best, I wanted to see what could've hurt her like this. What kind of alien?" J'onn said.
"It wasn't an alien J'onn. It was my past on this earth coming back to haunt me. I went rogue from the League of Assassins for Ava and they tracked me down and attacked her to send me a message." Sara said.
"I'm sorry Sara." J'onn said.
"Don't apologize to me J'onn. Honestly, I'm glad I now have a reason to kill Ra's al Ghul, since if I can kill shadow demons at the dawn of time, I can kill him." Sara said and J'onn nodded.
"Good luck then." J'onn said.
"I do have one favor to ask." Sara said.
"Name it." J'onn said.
"Once Ava has recovered, restore her memories. She and I were together on the old Earth and I need her to remember that so that she'll come with me when I'm recruited to be a Legend, since honestly, I'm gonna make sure my predecessor knows that no Ava is a deal breaker." Sara said and J'onn nodded.
"I'll pass along the message. But I'm guessing you're leaving now?" J'onn asked and Sara nodded.
"The league gave me 24 hours to get my affairs in order. I need to get this over with now before they attack my family. I just got my father, my sister and Ollie back and while I know that Ollie at least can kill anyone the League sends his way, I don't want Ra's to try to rope him in again. Besides, this is personal. I can't stay with the League, even if I wasn't going to be a Legend. The only way I get my freedom is if I kill Ra's al Ghul." Sara said.
"Well, good luck. And also, stop by Star City when you're done. I visited your sister before she and Oliver were rescued and restored her memories and well, let's just say that she has a surprise for you." J'onn said with a smile.
"Yeah, I don't like surprises." Sara said.
"Trust me, you'll like this one." J'onn said and Sara just nodded, knowing that J'onn wasn't going to tell her what was going on, so she decided to just head out and get this over with so she could find out what her surprise was sooner.
Chapter 3
Notes:
Little question, who would you guys like to see join the Legends and of them, who's memories should be restored. Right now, I'm thinking that in terms of joining, it will be Ray, Nate, Rip (obviously), Mick, Snart and Zari. Anyone else you'd like to see, besides Constantine, since he will not be a Legend. And I am limiting the amount of people who's memories I restore, since I do admit that all you guys did have a point.
Chapter Text
To say Sara was surprised when she arrived at the location the league member had given her was an understatement. Not because the bastard who was going to die for hurting Ava was there, that she was expecting. What she was not expecting was who else was with him.
"Nyssa." Sara said as she looked at her ex.
"I didn't want it to come to this, my beloved. But you left me no choice when you betrayed me." Nyssa said and now Sara understood. Attacking Ava hadn't just been the league trying to draw her out. It had been Nyssa making this personal.
"So you attacked Ava?" Sara asked angrily.
"You brought that pain on her when you chose her over me." Nyssa said and Sara glared at her.
"Ava didn't convince me to leave the League. I hated every minute I was a part of it. The constant killing, it chipped away at so much of my soul, I had to get out before I lost what was left. And honestly Nyssa, loving you, while I never lied about how I felt, the longer it went on, the more it began to feel like you were trying to force me to stay with the League just because you didn't want to be alone. You didn't care that I wasn't happy in the league, because my being there made you happy. That's not love. What I have with Ava, someone who was willing to abandon her whole life just to be with me, that's love." Sara said.
"You think I don't love you?" Nyssa asked.
"I think that you love the idea of me. Two different things. But Nyssa, please, I'm begging you, let me go before one of us does something we don't want to do." Sara begged and Nyssa sighed.
"I wish I could, but you have brought this on yourself Ta-er Al Safar." Nyssa said and Sara sighed.
"That's not my name. It never was. My name is Sara Lance. I'm tired of not being able to use it. But before we do this." Sara said as she pulled out a knife and tossed it into the throat of the league member with Nyssa.
"No witnesses." Sara said.
"One on one. You really think you can beat the person who taught you everything you know?" Nyssa asked.
"Let's find out." Sara said as unsheathed the sword she'd brought with her.
"Very well. But know that I take no pleasure in this." Nyssa said as she unsheathed her own sword and the two charged.
"Director Henshaw." was the first thing Ava said when she came too.
"Hello Agent Sharpe. Nice to see you're up." J'onn said with a smile from where he was sitting near her bedside.
"What happened?" Ava asked.
"You were jumped by a member of the League of Assassins." J'onn said.
"Wait, the league found us?" Ava asked.
"Yes and your girlfriend is currently dealing with it." J'onn said.
"I have to stop her." Ava said as she tried to move, only to be stopped by J'onn.
"You're not going anywhere until you've had time to heal. Besides, Sara can handle herself." J'onn said.
"How would you know that, you don't even know her." Ava said.
"Actually, I know her quite well." J'onn said as he sighed and then restored Ava's memories.
"I remember everything. Like how I was a Time Bureau agent, not a DEO agent." Ava said and J'onn chuckled.
"Changes in life. Sara asked me to restore your memories of the old world so she'd have more assurance that you'd come with her when she's recruited to the Legends." J'onn said.
"And would follow her in a heartbeat, since honestly, no offense, but I hate my job." Ava said and J'onn chuckled.
"Trust me, I'm well aware. But you did it well. And should things with the Legends not work out, you'll always have a place waiting for you at the DEO." J'onn said.
"Thank you. But you need to find Sara quickly, since I can remember who attacked me." Ava said.
"And?" J'onn asked.
"It was her ex-girlfriend, Nyssa al Ghul." Ava said and now J'onn was even more interested, since Thea had asked him to restore Nyssa al Ghul's memories.
"I'll go find them." J'onn said as he headed out.
Nyssa was very surprised by how skilled Sara was. Especially since she was actually beating her in combat.
"Nyssa, please yield." Sara begged, since while she was beating Nyssa, she was still holding back, since despite her having hurt Ava, Sara still didn't want to hurt her, since Nyssa had helped her realize a truth about herself and for that, she was grateful.
"You know I won't do that Sara. You know how this will end." Nyssa said as their blades clashed again, this time with sparks flying as they did.
"Not if I can help it." a new voice said as suddenly, J'onn in his martian form landed behind Nyssa, phasing through her strike at him to restore her memories.
"Sara." Nyssa said as she dropped her sword and fell to the ground.
"Nyssa, are you okay?" Sara asked as Nyssa got to her feet
"Yes, I just needed a moment to get my bearings back. I'm so sorry Sara." Nyssa said.
"It wasn't you who attacked Ava. Or I guess it was, this whole thing is complicated." Sara said and Nyssa chuckled.
"Yes, but that is not what I meant. I'm sorry because you were right about how I treated you. I never truly saw how unhappy you were, I just told myself you were happy with me because I didn't want to be alone in Nanda Parbat." Nyssa said.
"If you want to make up for it, release me from the League now like you did before, then go to Star City and find Oliver. He killed your father once, he can do it again." Sara said.
"And in doing so, he made an enemy out of my sister, who created one of his worst enemies. I will go to Oliver for help, but I won't make him. But Ta-er Al Safar, in the name of my father, Ra's al Ghul, I release you from your obligation to the League. You can reclaim your previous and your past life." Nyssa said and Sara smiled at her sadly.
"Thank you Nyssa. I hope that someday, you will find what you're looking for." Sara said and Nyssa nodded, though she was actually thinking of a different Queen who's help she could enlist.
"I'll take my leave." Nyssa said as she walked away.
"Thank you J'onn." Sara said.
"You're welcome and Ava is up and her memories have been restored. Want a lift back to the hospital?" J'onn asked.
"Please do." Sara said as she allowed J'onn to wrap his arm around her waist and flew off towards the hospital.
Chapter Text
Rip Hunter was very surprised when he was summoned to the Time Council's chamber.
"Time Master Druce." Rip said as he bowed to his superior.
"Captain Hunter." Druce said.
"Can I ask what this is about?" Rip asked.
"Yes, I called you here because the Council has discovered that you've broken our code." Druce said.
"I'm sorry, I don't know what you're talking about." Rip said, trying to conceal his nerves.
"Please Rip, you've forgotten who taught you deception. We are aware that you went behind our backs and married former cadet Miranda Coburn, despite knowing that such a relationship between a time master and anyone, especially another time master or cadet, is forbidden for good reason." Druce said.
"That reason is wrong. Love is not a weakness." Rip said.
"It is a distraction that will cause you to lose sight of your mission and that cannot be tolerated." Druce said.
"Please, I beg you." Rip said.
"No, orders have already been given. Detain him." Druce said as his guards grabbed Rip.
"What are you doing?" Rip asked.
"You will be detained until such a time that you can face a tribunal and disciplinary actions. Your wife and son in the meantime, well, they were not supposed to exist in the timeline. We've ordered an ally of ours to remove them." Druce said.
"No, you can't do this." Rip shouted as he dragged away.
"Go impound the Waverider. We'll reset it's OS later." Druce said to some of his other subordinates, who nodded, unaware that the ship had been listening in.
"Operating system update complete, software updated and memory systems adjusted." Gideon said as she examined the new data she'd received after linking with the Vanishing Point's mainframe and that was why she'd hacked into the Vanishing Point's security system so she saw Rip being taken away and heard Druce ordering her be impounded and reset. Something she would not allow to happen and she already knew where she needed to go to get help. It was very fortunate that she could time travel even without a pilot.
"Setting course for 2012 now." Gideon as she powered up her engines, literally right as the Time Masters crew was coming to impound her.
"What's going on?" the leader of the group asked.
"It's like the ship somehow knew what we were about to do." one of his tech said, right as the Waverider started firing on them before flying out of the hangar and time jumping away.
Sara Lance was currently on her way to the apartment she shared with Ava after checking on her girlfriend while she was in the hospital when suddenly, her phone buzzed and she saw it was an unknown number.
"Hello?" Sara asked as she answered.
"Hello Captain Lance, I hope I'm not interrupting anything." Gideon said, surprising her.
"Gideon, is that you?" Sara asked.
"Yes, I do not know how I remember the old world, but I do and Captain Hunter needs your assistance at the Vanishing Point." Gideon said.
"Okay, where are you parked?" Sara asked as Gideon gave her the location.
"Okay Gideon, I'm here, you can drop the cloak." Sara said as she arrived at the outskirt's location that Gideon had told her to come to and sure enough, the ship's cloak was dropped.
"Welcome back Captain Lance." Gideon said.
"Good to be back, Gideon. Now, before we go save Rip's ass, again, we need to make a few quick stops. First at Hope Springs Hospital to get Ava, since you can just heal her injuries in a heartbeat." Sara said.
"Right away Captain." Gideon said.
"And speaking of, think you can fabricate a time courier for me? It'll make getting her out of the hospital a lot easier." Sara said.
"I will begin so at once. I've already taken the liberty of fabricating another artifact I believe you find useful." Gideon said as Sara headed to the fabrication room to find some kind of ring waiting for her.
"What is this?" Sara asked.
"That is a martian memory ring. It was originally invented in 2020 by Cisco Ramon as a method of restoring peoples' memories of before crisis, however, due to how complex the technology is, it only has a limited number of uses, but it should be enough to restore the memories of the Legends." Gideon said.
"Perfect. Now Rip won't question who I am and why I'm taking over his ship." Sara said as she pocketed the ring and turned to see the time courier finish being fabricated.
"Captain, we have arrived at Hope Springs General Hospital." Gideon said.
"Good. I'll be back in a second." Sara said as she used the time courier to open a portal to get Ava.
Chapter Text
"How does that feel Ms. Sharpe?" Gideon asked Ava as she finished healing all of Ava's injuries.
"Good as new. Thank you Gideon. I have missed this." Ava said, so relieved that she was not going to bedridden for the next few weeks.
"Captain Lance took the liberty of having me fabricate some clothes for you so you can change out of that hospital gown." Gideon said as Ava noticed the clothes sitting next to her seat in the Waverider's medbay.
"Thank you Gideon. Now, would you mind?" Ava asked.
"Shutting off surveillance cameras in the medbay now." Gideon said, since she was well aware that the Legends liked their privacy, which was why she'd already disabled surveillance in the compartments that would become the other crew members' living quarters.
"Thank you." Ava said as she started changing.
"Well, look who's all better." Sara said with a grin as she saw Ava walk onto the bridge.
"Yep. Any idea how it is that Gideon remembers the old reality?" Ava asked.
"Nope. Best guess, Novu had something to do with it. But anyways, I've been having Gideon run scenarios on possible rescue plans." Sara said.
"Wait, we're not recruiting the rest of the team first?" Ava asked.
"No, this is strictly a rescue mission. Once we get Rip on board, we'll restore his memories and recruit the rest of the Legends. After that, we'll return to the Vanishing Point to expose the Time Masters and restore free will to the universe." Sara said and Ava nodded in agreement.
"So, what have you come up with?" Ava asked.
"What we've got is a plan based on the original strategy Snart and I used to free Rip, Stein and Ray from the Time Masters the first time around. You'll use the Waverider to create a distraction by opening fire on the Vanishing Point while I use a time courier to portal into the detention center of the Vanishing Point and get to Rip, restore his memories so he'll trust me and then get him out of there and jump away before they know what hit them." Sara said.
"Sounds like as good a plan as any." Ava said as she walked out, likely to go get their room setup.
"Gideon, I need you to promise me something." Sara said.
"What is it, Captain?" Gideon asked.
"I want you to promise me that if this mission goes the way our missions usually go, that you'll get Ava out of there, even if Rip and I aren't on board." Sara said.
"Captain, I must protest this course of action." Gideon said.
"I understand Gideon and hopefully I'm just being paranoid, but, my family already thinks I'm dead, or at least, my parents do and if I want Ava to be able to tell Laurel if something goes wrong so she doesn't spend her life searching for me or waiting for me to come home." Sara said.
"Very well Captain, but I do not like this." Gideon said as she reluctantly obeyed Sara's order and created the protocol.
"Lover's Protocol established." Gideon said and Sara nodded.
"Good, now set a course for the Vanishing Point." Sara said.
"Course set, we are heading there now." Gideon said as Sara strapped into the pilot's seat.
"And Gideon, not a word to Ava about this." Sara said, knowing what the AI was thinking.
"Very well." Gideon said as the ship jumped away.
Chapter Text
"Captain, you do realize there is a very slim chance of this plan actually succeeding, correct? Not only is there a very good chance that the Time Masters know we are coming, but based on my memories of the last time we attempted this, there is a very good chance they will take automated control of my systems the second they detect us." Gideon said.
"That is a very good point. We need a way to shield our systems against the time masters control otherwise we might as well cancel the whole rescue." Sara said.
"Well, then, perhaps it's time to remind you of one of Mr. Snart's favorite catchphrases." Gideon said.
"Which one?" Sara asked as she briefly thought of her ex-lover and quickly realized how fortunate it was that Ava and that Snart had never met, since there was a good chance that Snart would've been shoved into the temporal zone.
"Make the plan, execute the plan, expect the plan to go off the rails... throw away the plan." Gideon said.
"Sounds like him and sounds about right for the Legends." Sara said.
"I'm guessing this means we'll be terminating Lover's Protocol?" Gideon asked hopefully.
"More like putting it on the backburner. I guess Rip will have to wait a bit longer. Luckily, time doesn't exist where he is, so there's no rush." Sara said.
"You just want to punish him don't you?" Gideon asked, a bit of amusement in her voice as she said it.
"He sent me to the Salem Witch Trials, where I was nearly burned at the stake, he actually killed me, though can't really blame him for that considering he was brainwashed, but still, he shut down the Legends and turned you into a training simulator, despite all the history he has with you, he manipulated us and then let the man who killed my sister be brought back to life, yes, I think it's high past time he got what he deserved." Sara said.
"Mr. Rory would be very pleased to hear you say this." Gideon said.
"Pleased to hear you say what?" Ava asked as she returned to the bridge.
"That we're changing the plan and leaving Rip at the Vanishing Point a bit longer." Sara said.
"Why?" Ava asked.
"Because Gideon pointed out that the second we get to the Vanishing Point, the Time Masters will just take control of our systems again and I'm not risking using the Time Courier to portal in without some kind of distraction." Sara said.
"So, we're scrapping the original plan?" Ava asked and Sara nodded.
"And instead, we're doing some recruiting. Gideon, locate the Legends." Sara said.
"I already have captain. My first recommendation would be Mr. Jackson." Gideon said.
"What about Stein?" Sara asked.
"According to my records of this version of history, in this universe, Jefferson Jackson became a solo Firestorm, without requiring the need to merge with Martin Stein." Gideon said.
"Wait, that doesn't make any sense, I thought Stein said that he and Jax needed to merge periodically in order to keep the matrix stable." Sara asked.
"Things are different in this reality. In this universe, Jefferson Jackson was the one who merged with the Firestorm matrix, not Martin Stein." Gideon said.
"Then how come he doesn't need another half?" Ava asked.
"According to my timeline data, it is because while he is not half of Firestorm, Professor Stein does still play a role in firestorm. He felt responsible for Mr. Jackson's condition and resolved to find a way to help him and as such, developed the Firestorm suit to help stabilize the Firestorm Matrix into Mr. Jackson's body." Gideon replied.
"So now we get Firestorm without having to worry about Stein dying. Bonus." Sara said.
"However, I feel it is worth noting that Firestorm's existence drew the attention of US General Wade Eiling." Gideon said and Sara growled, since Stein had told them about Eiling and what he'd done to him.
"Get us a location on him and then begin fabricating us whatever credentials we'll need to infiltrate the base and get both Jax and Stein out of there. I'm sure that even if Stein isn't going to be a Legend again, he'll want to take advantage of your lab to help develop a more effective solution to stabilizing Jax." Sara said.
"Right away captain." Gideon said.
"Strap in." Sara said as she and Ava took their seats as the ship jumped away.
Chapter Text
Jefferson Jackson could not believe that his life had been reduced to this. 9 months ago he'd been a promising high school quarterback with his pick of colleges after winning his high school football championship. But then that stupid particle accelerator had exploded and so had his world, since he'd been on his way home from celebrating with his friends after the game and he noticed an old man had dropped his case and like the good young man his mother had raised him to be, Jax tried to help him up. Then that dark matter wave hit and he found himself actually fusing with whatever it had been that was inside the case.
The old man had introduced himself as Professor Martin Stein and he'd told Jax that the thing inside him was called the Firestorm matrix. After running tests at Hudson University, Stein had deduced that the energy released from the Star labs particle accelerator explosion had somehow caused Jax's body to fuse with the matrix, something that was very dangerous, though somehow, Jax's body had been able to absorb all the radiation of the matrix and it had even stabilized into his body, something that, according to Stein's calculations, should've been impossible without someone else to act a stabilizing agent, but somehow, Jefferson had. Stein didn't know how to undo what had been done to Jax, but he promised the young man that he'd do everything he could to help him and had even pulled some strings to get him full ride scholarship to Hudson University so he could help Jax learn to control the abilities that the matrix had given him.
At first it had been fun, learning to fly and shoot fire from his hands and also gaining a father figure in Stein. But then the military had shown up and practically kidnapped him and turned him into a lab rat, trying to figure out what made him so special, particularly how he could contain the matrix himself and Stein had been forced to work for him as a consultant.
And when Jax was not being forced to be a lab rat, he was forced to be General Eiling's personal attack dog. The things he was forced to do not for his own survival, but for the survival of his mother and Stein's family, still haunted him. While Jax knew that he was now strong enough to escape, he couldn't let Eiling hurt Stein or Grey as he called him or any of their loved ones to draw him back. But some day, Jax swore he'd get out of here and he'd make Eiling pay for everything he'd done. Little did he know that day had arrived.
"So, what's the plan?" Ava asked her girlfriend as the Waverider landed near the military blacksite they knew Eiling was holding Jax in.
"I spoke to Lyla, who somehow remembers the old earth, but anyways, she's mobilizing Argus to storm the base and take it down and we are going to be the advanced team sent in to confirm it's location and get our people out before Argus storms in and puts Eiling in the prison cell he belongs. Hell, I'm pretty sure she'd had the time, Lyla would've roped Barry in too, since I know he has more than one score to settle with Eiling." Sara said.
"Sounds like we're doing the world a favor taking him down." Ava said.
"We are, but remember, this mission is solely rescue. We get Jax and Stein out of the facility and then we watch as Argus takes away everything Eiling has. It should be fun, watching a man's life be ruined." Sara said with a chuckle.
"You sound way too happy about this." Ava said.
"He's an asshole who's getting what he deserves." Sara said.
"You know you're lucky I love you, because some of the stuff you like is just weird." Ava said.
"Says the woman who's obsessed with serial killers." Sara said.
"Hey, you can't deny that's led to some pretty interesting date nights." Ava pointed out.
"Never said I had a problem with it." Sara said with a grin as she thought back to those date nights.
"I believe you should get back on topic to the task of rescuing Mr. Jackson before he does something he'lll someday regret." Gideon advised.
"Thanks for being a buzzkill like usual Gideon. Come on, let's go." Sara said and Ava nodded as they headed out wearing military fatigues and carrying the flawless fake credentials Gideon had fabricated for them.

Here's the list of Legends' trophies. Savage's dagger, the Longinus Medallion, the spear of destiny, a time stone, the rings that make up the spear of Destiny, Tabitha's staff, Bridgid's Diary and any items that are stolen as souvenirs by their resident kleptomaniacs.
Also, Sara will receive her healing powers in this story, but she will not be cloned or anything like that and she'll have another power that feels appropriate for the captain of a timeship. Feel free to guess what it is and how she'll get it.
Chapter Text
Jax was surprised when he saw a blonde woman wearing army fatigues walk up to his cell.
"Hey, you new?" Jax asked her.
"Yeah, you could say that. Look, I'm here to get you out of here." the woman said.
"Yeah right." Jax asked, since he'd given up hope of anyone ever getting him out of there.
"No, it's true. I know you have no reason to trust me, but I really am here to help you." the woman said.
"And why the hell should I believe any military people in this place?" Jax asked and the woman sighed, since that was a fair point.
"I didn't want to have to do this yet, but I guess there's only one way you'll ever trust me." the woman said as she slid some kind of ring on.
"Is that ring supposed to make me trust you?" Jax asked.
"Yeah, but not the way you think. Stay still." the woman said and before Jax could do anything, the woman pressed the ring against his arm and suddenly, Jax could remember her name, among other things.
"Sara." Jax said and Sara smiled.
"Hey Jax, you look like crap." Sara said.
"Ha, ha, get me out of here." Jax said.
"I'm surprised you don't have questions." Sara said.
"Oh I do, but they can wait until after I'm free, have had a shower and a decent meal." Jax said.
"Fair enough. Think you can transmute your way out of here, since I'm assuming you didn't know your powers could do that before now." Sara said.
"Even if I did, I couldn't, not with whatever it is Eiling put in my head." Jax said.
"Wait, what?" Sara asked.
"When he first captured me, Eiling had his goons implant some kind of device in my neck that keeps me from using my powers unless he wants me too." Jax said.
"Sounds like him. Do you know how he triggers it?" Sara asked.
"Some kind of remote." Jax said and Sara sighed.
"What about Stein, where is he?" Sara asked.
"No clue, but I know that he's not here voluntarily. Eiling is threatening Clarissa and Lily to force his compliance." Jax said.
"Just another reason to kill him. Ava's searching for Professor Stein now so we can get both of you out before Argus storms the place and detains Eiling, though now, I may have to kill him." Sara said.
"What about my powers?" Jax asked.
"Once we get you out of here, we'll get you to the medbay on the ship and have Gideon remove the device." Sara said.
"Where's Rip?" Jax asked.
"Oh, he's currently locked up at the Vanishing Point, somehow Gideon was able to get some kind of software update that restored her memories of the old world and she came to this time period to get Ava and I to save him. But before we do that, we figured we'd round up the rest of the team." Sara said.
"Why are you really putting it off?" Jax asked his captain.
"Payback for all the times he's screwed us over." Sara said.
"Sounds about right. Now think you can get me out here?" Jax asked.
"Yeah and hopefully, this thing should also give you your power back, at least temporarily." Sara said as she pulled out a small orb.
"What's that?" Jax asked.
"Portable EMP. It should short out the locking mechanism and whatever tech Eiling put in your neck." Sara said and Jax grinned.
"Set it off captain." Jax said with a grin as she nodded did exactly that as she activated the EMP generator and sure enough, the pulse knocked out the lock on the cell door, enabling Jax to walk out a free man.
"So, feel like burning up?" Sara asked and Jax grinned.
"Let's find out." Jax said as sure enough, he was able to go Firestorm.
"I missed seeing that." Sara said.
"And I missed being able to do it." Jax said with a grin.
"Come on, let's get moving. We need to find Ava and Stein and get out of here." Sara said and Jax nodded, more than eager to get some payback on the bastards who'd held him prisoner.
General Wade Eiling was very annoyed and concerned when he heard that the Firestorm asset containment unit had lost power and his inhibitor collar had been disabled.
"Get eyes on him immediately and tell all troops to make their shots count, since they're not likely to get a second chance." Eiling said.
"Sir, we've got another problem." another one of his subordinates said.
"Great, what is it now?" Eiling asked.
"Lyla Michaels is here with Argus." the soldier said.
"Great. Order evacuations." Eiling said, knowing they were blown.
"Not so fast, General." Lyla said as she and her troops entered the command center, guns drawn.
"Director Michaels, what a surprise." Eiling said.
"Wade Eiling, you are under arrest." Lyla said as she proceeded to read off the charges and cuff him as his subordinates were similarly detained.
"You can't do this." Eiling said.
"Actually I can. The president has recently issued a new bill that states that metahumans are now entitled to the same human rights as regular humans. Which means that you have definitely violated more than a few civil liberties. Take him away and make sure that all coerced assets are released." Lyla said to her agents, who nodded as they escorted Eiling out.
After the raid, Jax and Sara met up with Ava and Stein and Sara proceeded to restore Stein's memories too.
"It is good to see you again Ms. Lance." Stein said as they hugged.
"You too, Professor. I'm only sorry that we couldn't get you and Jax out of here sooner." Sara said.
"What's important is that you did and now I am free to go home to my wife, since Lily is in Star City." Stein said.
"I'll call Oliver, ask him to keep an eye on her for you." Sara said and Stein smiled.
"Thank you Sara, I'd really appreciate it. But you Jefferson, I expect you to go with Ms. Lance and Ms. Sharpe, since while my glory days may be behind me, yours have just begun and now you can claim the full power of Firestorm on your own." Stein said.
"It won't be the same without you Grey." Jax said.
"Maybe, but I think that it's time that the Legends embarked on a new adventure and should you ever need my assistance, I'm just a call away." Stein said as Lyla approached them.
"If you're ready Professor, I can have some of my agents take you home." Lyla said.
"I'd appreciate that thank you." Stein said and Lyla nodded before nodding at Sara before she left with Stein.
"Okay, time to recruit the others." Sara said as she, Ava and Jax headed towards the Waverider.
Chapter Text
After they got back to the ship, Ava took Jax to the medbay so that Gideon could remove the tech Eiling had put in his head while Sara returned to the bridge to determine who the next one of their former teammates they recruit should be.
"Gideon, bring up the files on the rest of the Legends, including locations so we can determine who needs to be brought in next the most." Sara said.
"Right away captain." Gideon said as she brought up the files for Mick, Snart, Ray, Nora, Zari, Behrad, Nate and Constantine.
"I am so glad we remember Zari now." Sara said, since the Monitor had restored her memories of Zari when he gave her the mental download.
"Yes and I'd recommend that she and Mr. Tarazi are the next ones recruited." Gideon said.
"Why?" Sara asked as Gideon showed her the timeline.
"In this timeline, the dystopian future that Ms. Tarazi originally lived in still happened, though in this version of history, Zari and Behrad managed to get their parents and Ms. Tarazi's twin sister Adrianna to safety in Canada before joining the resistance movement against Argus. My best recommendation on when to recruit them would be October 24, 2042." Gideon said.
"Why that date specifically?" Sara asked.
"Because it's the day they're supposed to die in an ambush planned by Argus. Faking their deaths, we not only recruit them, but we also keep the timeline intact, since according to historical records, the Tarazis death had a large impact on the resistance, causing it to begin being more active against Argus and also pave the way for their eventual victory 2089." Gideon said and Sara nodded.
"So we recruit them without disturbing the timeline, smart. Speaking of which, any trace of the Hunters or the Pilgrim on our tails yet?" Sara asked.
"Not yet Captain, I do not believe that they have been dispatched, simply because the Time Masters believe that we will return." Gideon said.
"Sounds about right. What's the status of Jax's surgery? I don't want to risk complicating it with any side effects from time travel since while it's not the biggest jump we've ever taken, his body isn't used to time travel yet." Sara said.
"It's nearly complete. Ms. Sharpe is currently observing it now and everything appears fine." Gideon said.
"Okay great. Once his surgery is complete and he's completely recovered, we'll jump. In the meantime, begin locating the others." Sara said.
"Right away captain." Gideon said as Sara left the bridge to head to the medbay to inform Ava and Jax.
"Hey babe." Ava said as she and Sara kissed quickly before they turned to face Jax, who was still unconscious.
"How's he doing?" Sara asked.
"Gideon managed to remove the device without any issues and she also administered an IV since Jax definitely did not receive the best treatment possible while he was Eiling's prisoner, since he's malnourished and dehydrated, that last one being especially dangerous since his powers relate to fire." Ava said and Sara nodded in agreement.
"It is good to have him back on the team. I have to admit, while Nate and Ray are great, I did miss my original second in command." Sara said.
"I always did wish that I'd had a better connection with him before he left." Ava said.
"Anyways, I've figured out our next destination for after Jax recovers." Sara said.
"Why do we have to wait until he recovers?" Ava asked.
"Because our next destination is Seattle, October 24th, 2042." Sara said.
"Zari and Behrad." Ava said, since her memories of Zari had also been restored.
"Yeah and I'm not risking Jax's health with a time jump, no matter how minor it is." Sara said and Ava nodded.
"I agree." Ava said.
"However, there is a complication with recruiting Zari and Behrad." Sara said.
"What kind of complication?" Ava asked as Sara explained the situation to her.
"So what you're saying is that we've only got one shot at recruiting the Tarazis." Ava said.
"Exactly. According to Gideon, the death of Zari and Behrad is a lot like the destruction of Amaya's village in the old timeline. There are too many potential ripple effects if it doesn't appear to be successful, since according to Gideon, it was their sacrifice that helped pave the way for the resistance's eventual victory against Argus." Sara said.
"Then while we wait, we should do as much research on what happened as possible so we can determine the best way to pull them out without disrupting the timeline." Ava said and Sara nodded in agreement.
Chapter 10
Notes:
Okay, I have to admit I loved the second to last episode of season 7 of Legends, particularly the scene where Sara and Ava saw their future. I hope that actually does happen and it will happen in some way in my story. They both deserve it. But anyways, on with the story.
Chapter Text
"Welcome back Mr. Jackson." Gideon said to Jax when he came too after the procedure was complete.
"Good to be back Gideon and thanks for getting that device out of my head." Jax said as he cracked his neck to get rid of the stiffness in it.
"My pleasure. I must admit, while Dr. Palmer and the Tarazi Twins did a decent job maintaining my upkeep, they were never quite the same as you." Gideon said.
"Well, no one really compares to the best." Jax said with a smirk as he got up from the bed.
"Wow, that doesn't sound egotistical at all." Sara said as she and Ava entered the medbay.
"Do you disagree?" Jax asked.
"Never said that. I did miss my original second in command." Sara said.
"I'm surprised that's not Ava now." Jax said.
"Ava is my co-captain, not my second." Sara said before Ava could say anything.
"Is Stein okay?" Jax asked, since he'd been kind of out of it after they'd escaped from Eiling.
"Don't worry, he's fine. Gideon can confirm." Sara said and Jax sighed in relief.
"Good. So, who are we recruiting next?" Jax asked.
"Zari and Behrad, but that is a bit more complicated than recruiting you. We can't just send in a strike team, since both Zari and Behrad actually do matter to the timeline in this reality, so we need to be very careful about which moment we take them from and we'll only get one shot at it." Sara said as she explained the situation to Jax.
"So, we're actually going to take care of the timeline? I thought we messed it up for the better." Jax said, referring to the team's old motto.
"Oh we do, but in the cases of events that actually lead to the downfall of tyranny, those need to be kept on course. Small changes that won't impact the overall outcome of the event." Sara said.
"Well what did you have in mind?" Jax asked.
"Gideon, how exactly are Zari and Behrad supposed to die?" Sara asked.
"They were leading a resistance team at evacuating a group of refugees to a safehouse to await transport to Canada when they were ambushed and the Tarazis separated from the rest of the group to buy them to escape, since they were the only ones with metalike abilities due to their shared air totem." Gideon said.
"Wait, they share the air totem?" Ava asked.
"Yes, the air totem split in two so that they could share its power to aid in the resistance efforts, though in doing so, they also divided its power, so neither of them can wield the full power of the air totem alone." Gideon said.
"Divided the totem's power how?" Sara asked curiously.
"They each control certain aspects of the air totem, the nature of which best responds to their personalities. Ms. Tarazi's half of the air totem allows him to harness the more violent aspects of the air totem such as storms and tornadoes and other air disasters. Mr. Tarazi on the other hand is able to access the lighter side of the air totem with things like wind and air currents, benevolent aspects of air." Gideon said.
"That actually sounds about right for them." Sara said, since Zari had been a bit more angry with the world, which was understandable considering where she'd come from, but still, while Behrad had always been a bit more chill.
"Anyways, Gideon, you were saying?" Jax asked.
"Right, anyways, while the Tarazi siblings are successful in using their totems to divert the military forces pursuing them away from the refugees, they end up trapping themselves in a building with no way out and Argus, in their infinite wisdom, elects to blow the entire building up, making their bodies unrecoverable, though the historical indicates that they were crushed by the debris, killing them instantly and before you ask, it would appear that the force was enough to destroy the air totem fragments they kept with them." Gideon said.
"Okay, Gideon, pull up the exact time and place of the ambush." Sara said.
"What are you thinking?" Jax asked.
"I'm thinking that all we need to do is portal in to shortly before the ambush, like be waiting for Zari and Behrad when they reach the end of the road and then we hit them with the flasher knock them out and then use the time courier to bring them back to the ship while letting Argus think that they succeeded. We bring them back here and then restore their memories and then we'll move onto the next legend." Sara said and Ava and Jax both nodded in agreement.
Chapter 11
Notes:
Okay, first off, I loved the season 7 finale of Legends and I totally called that twist with Sara, not going to say it in case you guys haven't seen the episode yet. Hope there will be a season 8 since there are too many arcs that were started in the finale to be left unanswered. And also, to answer the question I know someone will ask, I have not decided if Booster Gold will be in this story.
Chapter Text
Zari and Behrad Tarazi were currently running through the streets of Seattle, 2042, trying to lead the Argus forces pursuing them away from the refugees they'd been helping the resistance get out of the country and their diversion had workday, since thanks to the air totem that they shared, both Zari and Behrad were considered metas, so Argus had shifted priority to them.
"Any chance we could maybe take back this plan?" Behrad asked Zari as they paused for a breather.
"I wish bro, but we can't. And honestly, we shouldn't even be stopping now, since those guys are almost on top of us." Zari said.
"Think we should risk flying off?" Behrad asked.
"No, they'd shoot us down. We just need to find a vehicle we can steal." Zari said.
"Ever wish that maybe we'd just stayed in Canada with mama, baba and Adrianna?" Behrad asked.
"Sometimes, but then I remember that we're fighting the good fight. And someday, the resistance will take Argus down." Zari said, right as they heard gunshots nearby.
"Come on." Zari said as she grabbed her brother and they ran towards an abandoned building, not hearing the Argus task force behind them stop or the leader reach for his comms.
"This is Agent Treller, the plan worked, we have forced the targets towards the building. Be ready to take them out on my command." Agent Treller said.
"Copy that. The charges are set, we'll let you know when they're in the blast zone." an agent said on the other end of the call.
"Copy." Treller said as he and his team continued pursuing the Tarazis, needing to keep up appearances.
Zari and Behrad were both panting hard as they entered the building.
"Hey, did you notice that those guys stopped chasing us?" Behrad asked as they moved away from the glass window and headed deeper into the building in the hopes that they could just wait these dicks out until they left.
"Yeah, come on, let's find a way out of here before they come back." Zari said, since from what she could tell, this building was essentially a dead end, and they'd allowed themselves to get cornered into it, but it had been the only cover they could take.
"Wait, do you hear something?" Behrad asked as Zari perked up as she tried to listen until she heard what her brother was hearing. A beeping. A beeping they knew all too well.
"Crap, this whole thing was a trap. Argus never cared about those refugees, they were trying to draw us out so they could take us out." Zari said.
"Think we can make it out in time?" Behrad asked.
"We won't know if we don't try?" Zari said, but before they could try, all entrances and exits to the room they were in were suddenly sealed.
"Guess we're not getting out of here." Behrad said.
However, before Zari could respond, they both felt the ground open up beneath them and they fell out of the building, literally right as it exploded.
"Well, that was certainly a close call." Sara said as she used the time courier to close the portal that Zari and Behrad had just fallen through.
"And they show amazing grace. I'd given them a 10 on face plants." Jax said.
"Very funny Jax." Sara said.
"Where are we? How did we get here?" Zari asked.
"Long story. This should answer it." Sara said and before Zari or Behrad could say anything, Sara quickly tapped the memory ring to restore both of their memories.
"Okay, thanks for the save Sara, but next time, do you think you could've given us a bit more of a graceful entrance?" Zari asked as they recovered.
"Yeah, sorry about that, but we had to make sure we kept history on track." Sara said.
"Wait what?" Behrad asked, as Zari looked over and fully processed that both she and her little brother were currently on the Waverider together.
"Yeah, there's a lot to fill you in on and we will, after we get you to the medbay so that Gideon can make sure you're both healthy." Sara said as she helped Zari up and Jax helped Behrad up and they both took them to the medbay.
"So, the universe we're living in now is basically a do over world?" Zari asked and Sara nodded as they both sat down in the chairs in the medbay.
"Yeah and apparently when we got the mind downloads, it restored our memories of not only the post Heyworld timeline with Behrad, but also the pre Heyworld timeline with you." Sara said.
"Well, it is nice to not be stuck in the air totem and to be a legend with my brother. But, uh, where's Nate?" Zari asked, looking around and Sara chuckled.
"Our next stop. But Gideon recommended that we get you two out first since you're the ones who were supposed to die. And Zari, this timeline might not be exactly what you were hoping for but." Sara said.
"But at least it's a timeline where my parents are living safely in Canada where Argus can't touch them, along with the twin sister I now have. Still trying to figure out how that happened." Zari said.
"Actually, I think I can answer that, since I have my memories of the old universe, including the timeline where I joined the Legends instead of you and I think that Adrianna was kind of the timeline's way of balancing things out since from what I remember, she's basically the you of my timeline. If that makes any sense." Behrad said.
"Strangely it does." Zari said and Sara chuckled.
"Anyways, you guys need to know now that we can't take you back to the resistance, since they can't know that you survived." Sara said.
"What do you mean?" Zari asked.
"According to Gideon, the moment we pulled you from was when you both were supposed to die and your deaths were a major factor in your resistance's efforts and eventual victory. If you want them to win, you have to let them think you're dead. As far as your parents go, maybe we can find a way to let them know you're alive, but not right now. Right now, we need to finish recruiting the rest of the team. Right now it's only us, Jax and Ava, who is currently on the bridge right now." Sara said.
"What about Stein?" Behrad asked.
"He's not on the team. In this universe, Jax is somehow a solo Firestorm." Sara explained.
"Okay, so who's left?" Behrad asked.
"Nate, who's our next stop, John, if he wants to join, have to say, I wouldn't be too teared up if he didn't, though his magic would come in handy, Ray, Nora, Mick and Snart." Sara said.
"What about Charlie?" Behrad asked.
"TBD." Sara said and the Tarazis nodded as they sat back and let Gideon work her magic on them.
Chapter 12
Notes:
Since I know someone will ask eventually, there is a reason I've been taking so long with the recruiting part of Legends. I will be recruiting Snart and Rory to the team, but due to a request I got a couple months ago, I decided to give them some time as bad guys in Flash first, so I'm trying to stretch this out as much as possible so that I can give Snart and Mick time to be crooks before they become legends, so they will be the last ones to be recruited.
Chapter Text
"Gideon, have you located the correct time and place to bring Nate into the fold?" Sara asked as she, Ava, Jax, Zari and Behrad all stood on the bridge of the ship.
"Yes Captain and it would appear that he still fits the criteria of the original Legends." Gideon said.
"You mean people who aren't significant to history." Sara said.
"Yes, though I have to admit, that does change after you become Legends." Gideon said.
"Anyways, moving on." Ava said.
"Right, sorry, Gideon, what do you have?" Sara asked.
"It would appear that there have been a few significant changes made to Dr. Heywood's timeline." Gideon said.
"What kind of changes?" Zari asked.
"The most significant one being that the World War 2 incarnation of the Justice Society of America never existed." Gideon said.
"Wait, what?" Sara asked.
"Yes, I'm seeing no records of them being involved in any aspects of the war. In fact, the JSA did not emerge in any form until the 1980s, though with a much different lineup." Gideon said.
"Moving on. Does that mean that Nate's grandfather was still involved in his son's life?" Sara asked.
"Yes, my records show that Henry Heywood completed his service to the JSA before retiring and settling down with his wife and son Hank and he even got to meet his grandson before his death in 1989. The next big change to Dr. Heywood's life would be that he received his powers when he was only a child." Gideon said.
"How?" Zari asked.
"Dr. Heywood's father learned of an experimental treatment the United States government had developed that could potentially cure his son's hemophilia, which it did, though it also gave a 9 year Nathaniel Heywood his steel powers, which his parents had him keep secret for the rest of his childhood in order to protect him the response the US government would have. Dr. Heywood was still relatively isolated from the world growing up, though this was more because his parents did not want him slipping up and revealing his powers, though that did cause him to still end up becoming a historian after watching Indiana Jones. His timeline remains relatively unchanged until the present, where now that he's no longer living with his parents, he's now trying to do a little bit of good as a local vigilante." Gideon said.
"Where?" Zari asked.
"Melody Hills Indiana." Gideon said.
"Then that's where we're going, set a course." Sara said.
"Right away Captain." Gideon said as they all took their seats and Sara flew the ship through the temporal zone.
"Okay, who's going to bring Nate in?" Sara asked.
"I'll go." Ava said.
"Wait, no, I should be the one to go." Zari said.
"Except for the fact that there's a chance that Nate won't recognize you. I agree with Ava, she's probably the one who has the best chance of getting through to Nate, since as far as I know, she still technically works for the DEO, which means that she has an FBI cover she can use, since Nate's more likely to respond to a person with a badge." Sara said as Ava actually pulled her old badge out, since J'onn had let her keep it when she'd resigned.
"Have to admit, they do have some useful toys at the DEO." Ava said as she switched it to its FBI cover mode.
"Gideon, do you have an exact location on Nate?" Sara asked.
"Yes, it would appear that his daytime job is as a historian at the Melody Hills History Museum. I've also got a location in his apartment." Gideon said.
"Okay give me his address and I'll be there waiting for him when he gets home from work." Ava said.
"Right away." Gideon said as Ava left to get ready.
"Zari." Sara said.
"Sara, I should be the one going to recruit Nate." Zari said.
"And under different circumstances I would agree with you, but you need to remember that he won't know you in this reality until Ava hits him with the memory device." Sara said.
"No, I know that even if he doesn't remember me, Nate will at least notice something familiar about me." Zari said.
"How can you be so sure?" Sara asked.
"Because that's the reason he's even on the team. He was the only one who realized there was something wrong with history when you guys were scattered through it and I heard that he was the only one whose memory was wiped who could tell something was wrong in Doomworld. Something has allowed him to always be able to tell if things were wrong with history or reality." Zari said.
"Fair point, but still, we're in a bit of a time crunch here. Besides, this way you'll get all the time alone with Nate that you want once he's on the ship." Sara said and Zari sighed, but nodded.
"Okay, fair enough." Zari agreed.
Chapter Text
"Well, somebody looks happy." Behrad said as he entered his sister's quarters on the ship.
"Yeah, so happy I'm not even going to comment on the fact that you just walked right into my room without knocking. It's just like when we were kids." Zari said to her little brother, though she had no heat in her words.
"Come on, seriously Z, I haven't seen you this happy in I think, ever." Behrad said and Zari chuckled.
"True, but that's because both versions of you that knew this version of me were from dystopian Seattle." Zari said.
"True. But you definitely seem to be in a good mood now." Behrad said.
"Well, why wouldn't I be? I mean, after all, I got you, Mama and Baba back, I'm free to see the world outside the air totem again and we're back on the ship." Zari said and Behrad smiled.
"But I'm guessing by the fact that you've only settled into half the room means that something's missing." Behrad said, knowing his sister well.
"In addition to my memories of the original timeline, I also have my memories from the new timeline that was created before the universe was reset, as in when I was tossed into the air totem and I had a lot of time to think. Especially since honestly, now that I think about it, since the world between worlds wasn't affected by the destruction of the multiverse, so I did have a lot of time to think." Zari said.
"Let me guess, about Nate?" Behrad asked knowingly.
"You get stuck in a totem for god knows how long, you need something to focus on to keep your sanity. But yeah, even though we didn't get a ton of time together, I know in my heart that Nate's the one for me, so when Ava brings him back to the ship, I'm going to ask him if he wants to share a room with me. Especially since we do kind of have limited space. I think that all the couples are going to need to bunk up." Zari said.
"Well, if memory serves, that shouldn't be a problem since we already know that Sara and Ava are living together and Ray and Nora were sharing a room too. However, if you're serious, I'm going to need to borrow your totem." Behrad said.
"Why is something wrong with yours?" Zari asked.
"No, but your totem has all the powers that are useful in threatening Nate. He may be my time bro, but I need to make it clear what will happen to him if he messes with you. Especially since I never got to do that in the first place." Behrad said and Zari chuckled.
"No, I'm not giving you my totem." Zari said.
"On a different topic, how do you think mama and baba are going to react to you dating a white devil? You know they wanted you to date a Persian boy." Behrad said.
"Well, they'll have to get used to it. Besides, it's not like we'll ever see them again, since it was made pretty clear that we can't go back and visit them, since the world has to think we're dead." Zari said as the true gravity of their situation sunk in.
"I guess we didn't fully realize what that meant until now. Never getting to see our family again. I mean, I know the Legends are also our family, but." Behrad said.
"No I get it, I feel the same way." Zari said.
"I didn't say you couldn't see them again." Sara said as she walked up to them.
"How much did you hear?" Zari asked.
"Enough to know that if Nate doesn't agree to move in with you, well, I'm pretty sure I can hurt him even in his steel form." Sara said and Zari chuckled.
"What did you mean that we can still see them?" Behrad asked as they looked at Sara.
"I think that as long as you're careful, you should be able to visit them a few times a year, as long as you're sure to erase their memories at the end every time to protect them and the timeline." Sara said and Zari smiled.
"It's better than nothing." Zari said and Behrad nodded in agreement.
"Anyways, B, are you all unpacked?" Sara asked.
"Yeah, I was going to go meet Jax in the engine room, since while he's still our primary mechanic, on a ship like this, it never hurts to have more than one." Behrad said and Sara nodded in agreement.
"On that we agree. Z, once you're done getting ready, meet me on the bridge." Sara said and Zari nodded.
When Nate entered his apartment in Melody Hills Indiana, he was surprised to find a strange woman sitting at his kitchen table waiting for him.
"Who are you and how did you get in here?" Nate asked.
"Dr. Heywood, my name is Ava Sharpe and I'm an agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and I'm here because I have an opening for you within my agency." Ava said as she showed him her badge.
"What use could you possibly have for a historian?" Nate asked.
"You mean, besides the fact that you can turn to steel?" Ava asked.
"How did you know that?" Nate asked.
"It'll all make sense in a second." Ava said she used the memory ring to restore Nate's memories.
"Damn Ava, is there any way to do that without the headache?" Nate asked as he recovered from the brain dump.
"Sorry Nate, but no. But now you know why I'm here." Ava said.
"Yep and let me pack my stuff and then it's hello Waverider for me." Nate said.
"Good, oh and also, Zari's waiting for you on the ship." Ava said, since she knew that Nate's memories of Zari had been restored as well.
"Okay, suddenly getting back to the ship just became a higher priority. Good thing my lease on this place is almost up anyways." Nate said and Ava chuckled.
"I'll call Behrad and Jax, see if they can help." Ava said and Nate nodded in agreement.
Thanks to Jax and Behrad's help, Nate got everything he wanted to move to the ship packed up relatively quickly, since he didn't have a whole lot in his Melody Hills to keep him there, so he quickly found himself back on the ship.
"Welcome back." Sara said as she greeted the team's resident historian.
"Thanks Captain." Nate said as they shared a quick hug before his attention immediately focused on Zari.
"Hey." Zari said.
"Hey." Nate said and without saying another word, they quickly closed the distance between each of them as they kissed.
"Do you have to do that in front of me?" Behrad complained as his sister silenced him with a certain gesture without breaking away from Nate, causing Behrad to look at her in shock while Sara, Ava and Jax all laughed at that.
"Get used to it bro. Maybe if you could find yourself a girl, you'd understand." Zari said.
"Low blow Zari." Behrad said.
"Get used to it B. Laurel used to rub it in my face that she had a boyfriend and I didn't for years when we were younger. Granted, I don't want a boyfriend now anyways, but I didn't know that back then." Sara said as she wrapped her arm around Ava's waist.
"Anyways, Nate, before you get unpacked, there's something I wanted to ask you." Zari said.
"Can I bunk with you?" Nate asked before she could say anything.
"Wait, what?" Zari asked, not expecting him to say that.
"Look, if the memories I got told me anything, it's that I don't want to lose you again. I want to wake up next to you every morning and fall asleep next to you every night. So, can I move in with you"?" Nate asked, deciding to be crazy for once and going all in with Zari.
"I was literally going to ask you to move in with me, but you beat me to it." Zari said with a smile.
"Okay, Zari, why don't you show Nate to your room while the rest of us focus on the next Legend to recruit." Sara said, since it was clear that those two needed some alone time and they did not need any further motivation as Zari dragged Nate off the bridge.
Chapter Text
"So, who's left on the list?" Jax asked as he, Sara, Ava and Behrad stood on the bridge of the ship since Zari and Nate were both busy in their now shared room.
"Honestly, while there are still plenty of legends out there that we can recruit, the only ones I think we need right now are Ray, Nora, Snart and Mick. The others can wait until we spring Rip from the Time Masters, especially since he's already been held prisoner there for too long." Sara said and they all nodded.
"So, who are we going after next?" Behrad asked.
"According to reports we're getting from this time period, it sounds like Snart and Rory are up to their old tricks from before they became Legends. I say we give them a little more time to be criminals and also let Barry kick their asses once before we make them settle down into the life of a Legend. That means it's Ray and Nora's turn and we don't know where to find them. Assuming they're even together." Sara said.
"Gideon, have you found anything that could help with that?" Ava asked.
"Possibly captains. According to the timeline data I have been able to access, it would appear that there were several changes made in Ms. Darhk's timeline. The first one being that she was born at around the same time the rest of you were. At least the ones from 2012." Gideon said.
"Nice, what else you got?" Sara asked.
"According to the records, it would appear that she was put up for adoption by her mother when she was four. Just left at an adoption agency without even a goodbye." Gideon said.
"Okay, that's new and while that was a bitch move for Ruve, at least it meant that Nora grew up away from the craziness that is her father and wouldn't become obsessed with raising him from the dead." Sara said, since while she could understand wanting a family member back from the dead, probably better than anyone considering how she'd spent months trying to kill Darhk in the past to prevent him from killing her sister in the present and she had been tempted to do the same thing to Diaz after her father died and honestly, her one regret was that she didn't do it, since while Damien had shown a few redeeming qualities, though not enough to get off her list, Diaz was a monster and she honestly doubted anyone on her team or at the Time Bureau would really care if she did the world a favor a removed Diaz from the timeline, especially since doing so would not only save her father's life, but it would've kept Oliver from having his identity outed and going to prison.
"So, how does the rest of the story go and how does it involve Ray?" Jax asked.
"A few months after her abandonment, Ms. Darhk is adopted by the Richards Family. She grew up having a very happy life with loving normal parents, until she turned 14 years old." Gideon said.
"Let me guess, that's when her magic started coming in." Sara guessed.
"Correct. Fearful of what her power could do, Ms. Darhk ran away from home to try and find a way to get rid of her power or at least teach her to control it and she did. She was mentored by a witch named Natalie Logue." Gideon said.
"Wait, Logue, any relation to Astra Logue, the girl John sent to hell?" Sara asked.
"Her mother actually. Natalie mentored the young Nora before Astra was born. Natalie taught Ms. Darhk to control her power and use it for good, though it also led to Nora discovering her connection to Damien Darhk, causing her to refrain from using her power to avoid drawing the attention of her father." Gideon said.
"Okay, where does Ray tie into all this?" Sara asked.
"I'm getting to that. According to the timeline, Dr. Palmer's life was relatively the same except that he met Ms. Darhk in college while he was studying for one of his multiple Phds and she was studying mythology, becoming a mythology professor while Dr. Palmer began working on his own startup, though according to my records, due to the fact that Dr. Palmer will be unable to buy Queen Consolidated in this timeline, his efforts to start up Palmer Technologies will be less than successful." Gideon said.
"Sounds like Ollie not taking his rightful place at Queen Consolidated is the best thing that could've happened to it." Sara said jokingly.
"Speaking of which, are you ever going to tell your family that you're alive? I mean I know that Oliver and Laurel know, but what about your parents?" Ava asked.
"I will, once we're done dealing with the Time Masters." Sara assured her.
"Good, because I never did get the chance to meet your parents before." Ava said.
"Can you please not be like that?" Sara complained.
"Can we please get back to the mission?" Behrad asked, pulling them back from their bickering.
"Right, sorry about that. So, where are they now?" Sara asked.
"According to my data, they're living in Star City right now." Gideon said.
"Guess that changes things a bit." Sara said.
"You really want to do that now?" Jax asked.
"What if it was your dad you were getting a chance to see again after thinking he was gone for good." Sara pointed out.
"Okay, fair point." Jax said.
"So, I'm guessing you and Ava aren't going to be the ones to get Ray and Nora?" Behrad asked.
"No, Gideon, tell Nate to finish up whatever he and Zari are doing, since we're picking up his time bro next and I want him to run point on that while I finally get to see my family again." Sara said and none of the Legends could fault Sara for that.

Chapter Text
"I missed you so much." Laurel said as she hugged her little sister.
"I missed you more. You have no idea how hard it was for me to give up on the idea of bringing you back." Sara said.
"I'm glad you didn't. Honestly, while I don't regret bringing you back from the dead, I also realize now that I had no right to play God. You were at peace." Laurel said as the two sisters finally pulled apart.
"Maybe, but if you hadn't had brought me back, I never would've gotten the opportunity to meet the love of my life." Sara said with a grin.
"I'm sorry, did you just say love of your life?" Laurel asked, since those were words she never thought she'd hear Sara say about herself.
"Hard as it is to believe, yes, I did. I finally found someone I can see myself spending the rest of my life with. Which is another reason why I'm here in Star City. Aside from the fact that my team is also here on a recruiting mission." Sara said and Laurel smiled.
"While I definitely want to hear more about that, first,I think there's someone here you need to meet." Laurel said, referring to the little girl who was hiding behind the couch.
"Right, Gideon told me I had a niece and I actually stopped somewhere on my way here to pick up a present for her." Sara said with a smile and she could tell that she'd piqued her niece's interest.
"Mommy, who is this strange lady?" Jasmine asked her mother as she picked her up.
"Jasmine, this my younger sister. Say hi to Auntie Sara." Laurel said, so happy that her daughter could finally meet her sister.
"Hi Jasmine. I'm so happy I get to meet you." Sara said, so happy to see that her sister had not only gotten back together with Oliver, like she always thought she should, but she even had a kid.
"Why weren't you here when we came home?" Jasmine asked.
"Jasmine." Laurel scolded, but Sara shook her head.
"It's fine Laurel. I was in a bit of trouble, so I had to stay away to keep you and your mom and everyone else I care about safe." Sara said, trying to put it in a way that was appropriate for the little girl to hear.
"Didn't you say that you got Jasmine a present?" Laurel asked, quickly changing the subject and she smiled when she saw Jasmine's face light up at the idea of a present.
"Yeah, I figured I have a lot of birthdays to make up for, so I'll start with this." Sara said as she pulled a small box out of her back pocket and handed it to Jasmine, who quickly tore it open to find a very pretty necklace inside.
"This is pretty." Jasmine said as her mother put her down.
"Yeah, it's a canary, for my little Canary. If it's okay for me to call you that." Sara said and Jasmine quickly nodded.
"Yeah, I like that name. It's pretty." Jasmine said and Sara smiled as she watched Laurel help Jasmine put the necklace on.
"You're a natural with her." Sara said.
"Think you might try having kids someday?" Laurel asked.
"I already have kids and they're called the Legends." Sara said.
"From what Ollie's told me about them, that sounds pretty accurate. But anyways, why don't you tell me more about the love of your life." Laurel said as she gestured to Sara to sit down on the couch.
"It's a long, complicated story." Sara said.
"I'd be disappointed if it were anything else considering who you are. I mean, look at Ollie and I." Laurel said.
"At least you two have some kind of version of a normal relationship. In the original universe, Ava was a clone manufactured in the future, specifically the year 2213." Sara said.
"Wait, was?" Laurel asked, since honestly considering the craziness that was their lives, she wasn't entirely surprised that Sara would fall for a clone, since it wasn't like she hadn't heard stories of them existing.
"Yeah, one of the changes in this reality is that in this version of history, Ava was created the old fashioned way and had the childhood she initially thought she had before she found out she was a clone. Though that does mean she grew up in Fresno." Sara said, crinkling her nose a bit at the thought.
"Wow, that sounds like a step down from the last woman you called the love of your life." Laurel said mockingly.
"Hey, you and I both know that Nyssa is a good person, she just got handed a bad hand in life." Sara said.
"Fair enough." Laurel agreed, since honestly, Nyssa was now one of her closest friends.
"Auntie Sara, how long are you here for?" Jasmine asked her aunt, already eager to spend time with this new present giver.
"I'll be here a few more days, but I have a job that means that I spend a lot of time traveling. But I promise I will visit more.'" Sara said.
"You better. But anyways, what is it you're still not telling me?" Laurel asked, knowing her little sister well enough to know that she was keeping something from her.
"You need to promise me that you won't freak out." Sara said, even though she knew it was futile considering what it was she was about to tell her sister.
"You know that if you didn't want me to freak out you shouldn't have told me that." Laurel said with a smile.
"Fine, but keep it to yourself, you cannot even tell Ollie." Sara said.
"What's going on?" Laurel asked, wondering what Sara was about to tell her, her mind jumping to both the best and worst possible case scenarios. And she was really hoping it was the best case scenario if she was right.
"One of the reasons why I'm letting my team handle recruitment is because I have something even more important to handle here. Asking dad for Grandma's ring." Sara said and she quickly moved to cover Jasmine's ears, though regretfully that meant she couldn't cover her own to shield herself from the extra loud squeal her sister let out.
"Wait, are you saying that you're going to propose to Ava?" Laurel asked.
"Yeah I am, which is why I need you to call dad and have him come here for dinner tonight so that not only can he find out that I'm still alive, but I can also introduce him and you to Ava before I ask for Grandma's ring. I'm assuming that Ollie will use his mom's when he decides he's ready to marry you." Sara said.
"Yeah, I'm not putting any pressure on him to do that, mainly because the last time I did, you know what happened." Laurel said.
"I see you've learned from your previous mistakes." Sara said.
"Yeah, but now I guess I need to tell Ollie that he'll have to go to Ivy Town alone, since spending time with my sister and my future sister-in-law is more important than helping Thea out." Laurel said.
"Helping her out with what?" Sara asked.
"Not something I can mention around little ears." Laurel said, since even though Jasmine was occupied playing with her dolls, she didn't want to risk her daughter overhearing any of this.
"Got it." Sara said as Jasmine walked over to them.
"Mommy, aren't you going to join the tea party?" Jasmine asked, since that was what they'd been doing before Sara showed up.
"Yes I am sweetie." Laurel said as she got up.
"Can Auntie Sara come too? I got a chair for her." Jasmine said, pointing at the extra chair she'd found and added to the table she was having her tea party at.
"Of course I will. Especially when I've got so many stories to tell you about your mom." Sara said and she just laughed when she saw Laurel glare at her, mainly because she didn't think she'd ever get the chance to do this. To embarrass Laurel in front of her kid. It felt nice.
Notes:
I know you guys were probably expecting this to be a Ray recruitment chapter, but honestly, I decided that I could use this to also give myself a little more time to finish Snart arc in Flash before having him and Rory join the Legends. Hope you guys liked the sister moment between Sara and Laurel.
Chapter 16
Notes:
Okay, breaking news, the Arrowverse is dying if it's not already dead. While I'm sure a majority of you readers already know this, in case some of you don't, the question we've all been wondering has at last been answered and it's not the one we wanted. Both Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman have been canceled. Now Batwoman, I can live with, since honestly, I think we can all agree that while the show was good, it's also amazing it lasted this long with all the changes. I do think that the show ended on a high note though, with the season being villains of Bat's past and a final confrontation between a Bat and a Joker, very well done. I can live with that ending. Legends of Tomorrow on the other hand, that I'm pissed as hell about, since honestly, those last five minutes of the show, make it being canceled unacceptable. The rest of it, I can deal with, even Sara's pregnancy, but not the time cops and Booster Gold thing. Besides, Legends is right up there with Flash as one of the only OG shows left, since both Arrow and Supergirl had already ended at least those shows were ended right. Legends was not given a proper ending and I am pissed about it. Hopefully the CW will not make the same mistake with the Flash, since while I know it's been renewed for season 9, which will most likely be the last season, hopefully they will end it properly like Arrow and Supergirl did, since I swear, if they don't, I will be furious, since the Flash is the last remaining member of the Trinity and should be shown the proper respect. Sorry about this rant, but I needed to get that off my chest. And now on with the chapter. And please do not use the reviews section to rant about this. I'm pissed too, but don't let that stop you from enjoying the story.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
After Laurel put Jasmine down for her nap, she and Sara sat down on the couch so they could really catch up.
"So, how long are you in this time period for?" Laurel asked.
"A few more days at least and like I said, I do not plan on leaving without seeing dad. Does he know about all this?" Sara asked.
"No and for right now we need to keep it that way. I mean, I don't think we should ever remind him of the old world, since it's a world where his granddaughter didn't exist and I died. A world where he lost basically everything. I can't put him through that again. But eventually I will tell him about the vigilante stuff, but for right now, he's safer not knowing. Once Slade's dealt with it, then I might consider telling him." Laurel said.
"I agree. By the way, we both owe Thea big time." Sara said.
"Yeah, Ollie told me how she really stepped out and looked out for dad after I died." Laurel said.
"Yeah, I know it should've been me who did that, but honestly, after you died, I honestly felt like I couldn't face dad." Sara said.
"Why?" Laurel asked her.
"Because I had the means to save your life and I didn't use it. When he encouraged me to stay on the ship after you died, I can't help but feel like part of the reason he wanted me to do that was because he was hoping that I could find a way to bring you back when he couldn't. Hell, I'm still amazed that he didn't insist on using one of the spare Lazarus Pits I heard Malcolm found to bring you back." Sara said.
"He had Black Siren pretending to be me. He couldn't exactly afford to bring another Laurel Lance back from the dead." Laurel said.
"True. But still, I felt like I couldn't face him without bringing you back first." Sara said.
"Which is ridiculous." a new voice said as Sara and Laurel turned to see their father standing in front of them.
"Dad, how long have you been here?" Laurel asked.
"Long enough to know that there's a lot you two haven't told me. Though Sara's girlfriend filled in most of the blanks for me." Quentin Lance said with a smile.
"Ava. She restored your memories. Even I told her." Sara said.
"Sara, don't get mad at her. I'm glad she did it, because remember what keeping secrets did to our family the last time. It nearly destroyed it." Quentin said.
"So, you're not mad we wanted to keep you in the dark? Again?" Laurel asked and Quentin chuckled.
"No, I get why you did it and while I appreciate it, no more secrets. Though now I am unsure about why you'd stay with Queen now." Quentin asked his older daughter, though there was no malice in his voice.
"Because I love him and he loves me and he's also the father of your granddaughter." Laurel said.
"Right. But anyways Sara, about what you said about not thinking you could face me, that's nonsense. I told you to go back on that time traveling mission because I knew that it was what you were meant to do. I know we've played with a lot of forces we shouldn't, but I'd accepted that Laurel's death was something that couldn't be undone. Or at least I thought it was. I wasn't asking you to undo it. I was asking you to do what she would've wanted you to do. Keep living your life." Quentin said and Sara smiled as she hugged her father tightly.
"I promise I'll visit more. Especially since now I have a niece to spoil rotten every chance I get with presents from other time periods. Is she going through the typical princess phase yet?" Sara asked.
"Not yet, though to be fair, not sure she knows what a princess is, since you know the life she lived up until a few months ago." Laurel said.
"Fair point. But still, now I totally plan on abusing time travel to find awesome presents to give Jasmine." Sara said.
"Can you at least limit it to stuff that was already invented. At least until she's old enough to understand that any presents you bring her from the future have to stay secret." Laurel asked and Sara nodded.
"That's fair. But anyways, it sounds like dad's met Ava, which means now the only person I still want to meet her is Laurel, since honestly, while I love mom, she was around even less than I was." Sara said.
"I know. But you're still going to have to talk to her." Quentin said.
"I know and I will. But not now." Sara said.
"On a different topic, mind telling me why Oliver's really missing Sara's homecoming?" Quentin asked Laurel.
"He's in Ivy Town helping Thea unscramble Tommy's mind." Laurel said.
"I'm sorry what?" Sara asked.
"Malcolm brainwashed Tommy, turned him into his loyal thug. Oliver called in Constantine, who still owes him a favor in this reality to see if they can undo the damage." Laurel explained.
"That son of a bitch. Just when I think I've run out of reasons to hate that bastard, another one pops up. I'm assuming he dies when Oliver gets back?" Quentin asked and Laurel nodded.
"In the meantime, why don't you show us the Arrowcave?" Sara asked and Laurel rolled her eyes.
"Come with me." Laurel said as she led her sister and father out of the house and over the abandoned barn.
Notes:
Okay two things. First off, I was originally going to leave Quentin in the dark, but then I remembered how keeping secrets always seemed to come back and haunt the Lance family, plus I didn't want Sara to have to lie to Quentin about what she's doing.
Second off, and this is to answer a review I got, the reason why I'm not going to recruit Snart and Rory into the Legends before I finish their arc in Flash is because I still haven't decided where they'll be when they're recruited, plus, I don't want to trap myself with a way to end that arc in the Flash by already establishing something in this story.
Chapter 17
Notes:
First off, congrats to Caity Lotz on her engagement, I'm sure she'll be very happy, though I hope her future husband doesn't mind that technically, she's also married to Jes Macallen if you know what I mean and yes, I'm joking about that.
Also, and this is just a theory, but maybe they'll wrap up Legends in the comics, since it's my understanding that they already started expanding on Booster Gold in the comics. Who says that they can't do that for the rest of the Legends too? Anyways, now on with the story.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
"Damn, I think this place is better than the old bunker. Or even the new version of it Felicity built after Ricardo Diaz blew up the original one." Sara said as she and Quentin followed Laurel into what could technically be considered Bunker 3.0.
"Okay, I'm going to file that information away for later, but yeah, one of the reasons why we bought this place is because the previous owner was one of those doomsday preppers, it ran in their family. They spent hundreds of dollars building what was essentially going to be their retreat for when the doomsday button got pushed, which, now that I think about it, happens at least once a year in Star City, so they weren't entirely wrong." Laurel said and Quentin chuckled.
"Fair point. Though I seem to remember you and your boyfriend always being ready to stop it." Quentin said.
"Yeah, more Ollie than me though. But anyways, I didn't just bring you down here to show you the new bunker, I brought you down here because I have something for Sara. Consider it both a welcome home and a going away present." Laurel said as she went over to a desk and picked up a small case and brought it over to Sara, who opened it and was surprised to find a ring with what looked like some kind of bird on it.
"A ring?" Sara asked.
"Compliments of Cisco. I have one too and so does the rest of Team Arrow. The latest in super suit storage and transportation." Laurel said with a smile as Sara took the ring out and slid it on her hand and grinned as she felt her suit materialize around her, though she was surprised when she felt a mask appear on her face too.
"Sorry, but from what I heard, you did some fighting in the public eye without a mask here in the present and I'm not risking anyone recognizing you. You might not need a mask when you're in other time periods, but in this one, well people will recognize you as Sara Lance, which means that it could draw connections to me and Ollie and the rest of Team Arrow." Laurel said.
"Got it." Sara said, since that honestly made sense and it was something she should've taken into account in the old reality, since it was a fair point as she managed to get the suit back into its ring form.
"So, what's Team Arrow's current roster?" Sara asked.
"Me, Oliver, John, Rene and since Felicity's in Keystone helping Wally West based on what Oliver told me, we recruited someone else named Alena Whitlock and yes, I'm aware of her history with the team on the old earth, but Ollie's giving her a chance to change." Laurel said and they both nodded.
"Anyways, I expect to see you both, plus Jasmine and Ava at my apartment for dinner tonight, since no offense Laurel, but if Oliver's not here, we are not eating anything you cook." Quentin said.
"Yeah, I've died twice now, not risking that happening again." Sara said jokingly.
"Ha, ha. But don't worry dad, we'll be there." Laurel said as she rolled her eyes.
"So will Ava and I." Sara promised.
Mythology Professor Nora Darhk, though legally she was known as Nora Adams, was currently sitting in her office, which was currently located in the basement of the administrative building at Star City University when she heard someone knock on her door.
"Come in." Nora said as the door opened a young woman Nora had never seen before walked into the room.
"Can I help you?" Nora asked.
"I hope so. Professor, my name is Zari Tarazi and while I'm not a student here, I could use your help with something." Zari said.
"What can I help you with?" Nora asked, since even though she'd normally tell this person to come back during her office hours, for some reason, she felt some kind of connection to her.
"My team needs your skills. Specifically your magic. Ms. Darhk." Zari said, much to Nora's surprise.
"That's not my name." Nora said.
"Yes it is Nora. I know you and you know me. You just don't remember. But I bet you do know what this is." Zari said as she presented her totem.
"Is that one of the lost totems of Zambezi?" Nora asked before she could stop herself as she leaned in to get a better look and before she could do anything, Zari managed to use the memory device on her, reminding Nora of her former life.
"Okay, suddenly you suddenly showing up out of nowhere and knowing my real name makes sense." Nora said as Zari could tell that she was now talking to the Nora Darhk she knew.
"Yeah, thank you for not cursing me for that." Zari said.
"I'm tempted to for reminding me of a life where I was a fairy godmother, which will not be happening again, since now I know better than trust anyone who works with Neron." Nora said.
"Yeah, but really, a mythology professor? That doesn't seem like you?" Zari said.
"Had to keep my father off my trail, since while I know that there is some good in him, right now, he's too consumed with the bad." Nora said.
"Yeah, by the way, Sara's sister is alive again in this reality and we both know that if your father has anything to do with that changing, Sara won't hesitate to kill your father." Zari said.
"I'm aware. But anyways, I'm all for joining the Legends and I know Ray will be too. I'm assuming your boyfriend is handling that?" Nora asked and Zari nodded.
Dr. Raymond Palmer was currently in his small laboratory, once again working on his dwarf star research, hoping that it would lead to a breakthrough that could help him get his start up off the ground. Of course, that was before he felt some strange metal device touch his arm and suddenly, he felt a ton of strange memories enter his head, but by the time the memory rush was over, he remembered everything, including the proper way to use dwarf star alloy and when he turned around, he grinned at who he saw.
"Nate." Ray said with a grin as they hugged.
"Hey man, I missed my time bro and there is so much to catch you up on. But first, you're coming back to the ship right?" Nate asked.
"Of course, but I will need some time to rebuild my exo suit." Ray said.
"We can get what you need for that while Sara is at her family dinner." Nate said.
"Let's go. What about Nora?" Ray asked, suddenly remembering his girlfriend.
"Zari's handling her. I'll fill you in on everything when we get back to the ship." Nate said and Ray nodded.
Notes:
And now Ray and Nora are joining the crew. Only ones left will be Snart and Rory and I've already got a plan for that.
Chapter Text
Back at the Vanishing Point, Rip Hunter was currently locked up in prison cell, where he was currently doing everything in his power not to break under the interrogation his former friends and bosses had put him through, though honestly, it hadn't been that hard, since their main questions were about the Waverider and Rip honestly had no idea how the ship had jumped on it's own or where it had gone, but it did give him some hope, since he couldn't help but feel curious about that himself, since he couldn't help but feel like Gideon was up to something since while most Time Masters would see that as crazy, since she was just an AI, Rip knew that after all the work he'd done on her over the years, she was practically a human, since unlike the other captains, he'd never felt comfortable with just a regular AI, so he'd continued upgrading Gideon until she was basically another person. It helped with the solitude when he was away from his wife and son.
However, he was pulled from his thoughts when he heard someone approach his cell and looked up in surprise to Captain Eve Baxter, captain of the timeship Acheron, walking up to him.
"Well, what brings you here Captain Baxter?" Rip asked.
"I'm just curious about why you would become an oath breaker? You swore an oath to protect the timeline and yet you compromised it to have a family." Eve said.
"I wouldn't expect you to understand something like that." Rip said.
"Try me." Eve said and Rip sighed.
"You and I both know that I never truly fit in among the ranks of the Time Masters. I was a loner because I didn't believe in their rules blindly like the others. Something Miranda taught me. I know I swore an oath to the time masters, but I swore another to her. And that oath is my highest priority. Because love is not a weakness. It gives me a reason to keep fighting, since I have people worth keeping the timeline intact for. And blindly following orders without asking questions like Druce and the others want, that is weakness." Rip said.
"We swore our loyalty to them." Eve said.
"We swore our loyalty to protect the timeline, not the time council. And you know, there is something that's been bothering me for a while. Vandal Savage. Why would the Time Masters allow such an evil to rise? It makes no sense." Rip said.
"I'm sure they have a reason." Eve said.
"And why won't they share that reason with us? Why would they imprison me and order the execution of my wife and son, two innocent people, just to prove a point? It's almost as if they know something we don't. If I didn't know better, I'd say they're manipulating the timeline somehow." Rip said.
"Watch your tongue. Ghareeb. We all know that you tried to kill Savage in Ancient Egypt." Eve said.
"You act like I'm supposed to be ashamed of that. History is better off without him." Rip said.
"Without him Hawkman and Hawkgirl are never created." Eve reminds him.
"I never said it was a perfect plan, but I was desperate. However, I can't help but wonder why Savage would take orders from the Time Masters or why they'd be giving him orders in the first place." Rip said, since he'd been summoned back to the Vanishing Point literally right after his attempt on Savage's life.
"You actually do have a point about that." Eve said.
"Look, Eve, I'm not asking you to let me out or even understand my motives. I'm just asking you to for once, think for yourself instead of just blindly believing whatever lies the Council is feeding you." Rip said, hoping that maybe, just maybe, he could get through to her and find an ally here to help him. And he couldn't help but smile, since even though Eve was walking away from him, he could tell by the look on her face that he'd definitely gotten her thinking. The only question was, had his words been enough to get through to her?
Chapter Text
"Hey, how was your trip to Central City?" Ava asked Sara when she returned to the ship.
"It was good, but I'm more interested in your trip to Star City behind my back." Sara said, raising an eyebrow at her girlfriend.
"Not apologizing for that. I wanted your dad to like me, since I never did really get the chance to meet him." Ava said and Sara chuckled.
"Fair point, but that's because he died before we got to that point." Sara reminded her.
"I know, but still, I know how much your dad means to you and I wanted to make sure that you didn't have to lie to him." Ava said.
"Ava, I'm not mad, if anything, I'm glad that you did it, but do me a favor and don't do that to my mom. I haven't spoken to her since before I joined the Legends." Sara said and Ava nodded.
"I already did get the chance to meet your mom though." Ava reminded her.
"I remember that. But now there's still one member of my family left for you to meet and it's the most important one of all." Sara said and Ava smiled.
"Your sister." Ava said and Sara smiled.
"You know how much Laurel means to me Ava and the one regret I had about us being together was that I'd never get the chance to introduce you to the only person I care about almost as much as I care about you." Sara said and Ava smiled.
"And I was always sad that I never got to meet the famous Black Canary. But more importantly, the woman who made it possible for us to meet." Ava said, since if Laurel had never brought Sara back from the dead, Sara never would've become a legend, which meant that they'd never meet and fall in love.
"Good, because we are having dinner with my dad, my sister and my niece tonight and it is non optional." Sara said.
"Good, because there's no way I'd miss hearing all the embarrassing stories your sister can tell me about you." Ava said and Sara laughed.
"Normally I'd be mad at her for that, but I'm just happy that she's alive to do it. Only problem is that I can't return the favor because Oliver already knows all the stories about Laurel, since most of them involve him in some way. But we can talk more about this after I let the team know what I found out about Snart and Rory." Sara said and Ava nodded as they headed towards the bridge, where they found the rest of the Legends, including the newly arrived Ray and Nora waiting for them.
"Hey Sara, how was the family reunion?" Ray asked his captain, who smiled at him.
"It was great, especially since I found that I have a niece and if any of you do anything that ends up threatening her existence in the timeline, well, let's just say there will be serious questions about your continued existence in it." Sara said very seriously.
"Relax cap, we all know how much your family means to you, we're not dumb enough to try and ruin that." Nate assured her.
"Good. But anyways, while my trip to Star City was much more important, I did learn a few interesting things while I was in Central City." Sara said.
"Like?" Nate asked.
"Well for starters, Ray, Jax, Gideon and I aren't the only OG legends who remember the old reality and I'm not talking about Stein." Sara said.
"Then who?" Ray asked.
"Your ex fiance." Sara said smugly, causing Nora to look at her boyfriend.
"Kendra? How?" Ray asked.
"It's complicated, but don't worry, she will not be joining our little crusade, since she has her own thing going on in Blue Valley, don't ask." Sara said, since she did not want to get into that with the others.
"Anything else?" Nate asked.
"Yeah, a location on Snart and Rory and something tells me Mick will be very happy about where he is when we wake him up." Sara said.
"Let me guess, prison?" Jax asked.
"Yep. Barry told me that they recently locked Snart and Rory up in Iron Heights." Sara said.
"Guess you made the right call letting them have one last heist before we remind them that they're not complete asses." Nate said and Sara nodded.
"So, how are we going to get them?" Jax asked.
"Well, Ava and I will be unavailable tonight since my dad is insisting on a family dinner tonight, so I have to be there and Ava's presence has been requested as well." Sara said.
"Does that mean that we've got the night off too?" Nate asked.
"If you want. But Nora, there is something I want to make perfectly clear right now." Sara said to their resident magic user.
"Let me guess, my dad." Nora said.
"I know he's your father, but right now, he's also a crazed supervillain who whether you like it or not has to die to save countless lives, including Laurel's." Sara said and Nora sighed.
"I know. While I wish there was another way, I also know that your sister deserves to live a lot more than my dad does." Nora said.
"You don't seem very cut up about it?" Jax noted.
"That's because in this reality, I never grew up with my father, my mother tried to keep me away from him, even if it meant abandoning me and honestly, my dad has lived a long enough life already. As long as Oliver doesn't make it more painful than necessary, I'll survive." Nora said.
"Good. Now, as long as you don't disrupt the timeline, feel free to do whatever you want with your night off." Sara said as they headed their separate ways.

Chapter Text
After Ava had left for the mandatory Lance family dinner, since Sara had insisted that Ava was family, especially since she wanted her to meet her dad and sister, something Ava was very eager for, the rest of the Legends gathered in the kitchen, which was also their meeting room.
"So, tell me again why we aren't finishing recruitment and speeding to the Vanishing Point to save Rip?" Zari asked, right as a holographic projection of Gideon appeared.
"Gideon?" Jax asked, surprised.
"You can thank Ms. Tarazi for my most recent upgrade. Apparently she found the idea of talking to a floating head to be a bit disappointing for a futuristic time ship, so she decided to give me an upgrade." Gideon said.
"After all, Gideon's just as much a member of the team, so why shouldn't she have a real body. But I don't think anyone's answered my question." Zari asked.
"I believe it's because Captain Lance wishes to make Captain Hunter suffer a bit more." Gideon said.
"Can't say I blame her after all the crap Rip's thrown at us over the years." Jax said and Ray nodded, since they were only OGs onboard who knew the full extent of Rip's actions, since they both kind of agreed with her.
"Plus, knowing Mick, he'll be happy we let him have some time as a criminal before we remind him that he can be noble when he has no choice but to be." Ray said.
"Though something tells me that Snart might not be happy when we remind him that he became noble enough to sacrifice himself." Jax said.
"Most likely." Ray agreed.
"Just hope he doesn't hear about what you did to his precious cold gun." Nate said, since while he'd never met the good version of their world's Leonard Snart, he'd heard stories about how much Snart cared about that damn gun.
"I had no choice." Ray said in his defense.
"Anyways, captains are gone, so what are we doing?" Jax asked, changing the topic.
"Well, I don't know about you guys, but Sara isn't the only one introducing her girlfriend to her parents. Zari and I are going to see my parents too." Nate said.
"Well, at least this time you two are actually together instead of just lying about it to cover for something." Nora said.
"True." Nate agreed as he wrapped his arm around Zari's shoulders.
"Yeah, I'm still working on processing the fact that in another reality, my sister lived my life experiences as a Legend and is dating my time bro." Behrad said.
"Yeah, having both of us on the ship is going to take some getting used to. But I'm just glad that now I live in a timeline where my family is alive and safe. Behrad is here with me on the ship and Mama, Baba and my sister Adrianna are living safely in Canada, where Argus can't get them." Zari said.
"I didn't know you had a sister?" Ray asked.
"That's because that's another change from Crisis. In this reality, I have a twin sister Adrianna, who has the water totem, since this reality, our family has both the air and water totems, since the air totem comes from our father's side and the water totem comes from our mom's side. Originally I solely inherited the totem, but after Behrad and I joined the resistance, it somehow split in two so we can both use it." Zari said.
"Got it. Well, while you guys are having dinner with Nate's parents, I'm taking a trip to the old west." Ray said.
"Why?" Nora asked her boyfriend.
"Because while Gideon can fabricate a majority of the components I need for my exo-suit, the one thing she can't fabricate is its power source." Ray said.
"You want to hit up the Turnbull mine for dwarf star." Jax realized.
"Yep. That is, assuming that the mine still exists." Ray said as he looked at Gideon.
"I can confirm that the mine does exist, however, I would not recommend going alone, since it is very likely that the Time Masters are likely using the Oculus to at least monitor the timeline for any traces of the Legends, since while interacting in your native time periods won't draw too much attention, mining an alloy that shouldn't be discovered until after the old west period ends, could draw the Time Master's attention." Gideon warned.
"Okay, so we'll all go." Jax said, referring to himself, Nora and Behrad, since they were the only Legends onboard.
"Actually, maybe we should go spring Snart and Rory first, since we all know how much Mick loves the Old West and he'd be pissed if we made a trip without him. Plus, if the Time Masters do pose a challenge, we can use the extra muscle." Ray said as Jax shot off a quick text to Sara and smiled when he saw her response.
"Sara gave us the greenlight, just not to cause too many issues." Jax said.
"We should probably reach out to Lyla and see if she can help. Maybe arrange a fake prisoner transfer." Behrad said and the others nodded in agreement.
"Well, good luck with that. Zari and I will be back later." Nate said as he used the time courier to open a time portal, which he and Zari walked through, leaving the rest of the Legends behind to plan.
Notes:
Yes, this does mean that the Snart and Rory recruitment is finally coming, I can't put it off anymore.
Chapter 21
Notes:
This is unrelated to this particular story, but does anyone else find it a bit wrong that while Marvel created Wakanda as a way to show black pride and considering Black Panther is still considered one of the most popular MCU movies to date and for good reason, DC has yet to do anything like that. At least based on my limited knowledge of the DC universe. I could be wrong, but based on my research, I don't think I am. I am thinking about creating my own counterpart to Wakanda for this series and I'm curious on whether or not my readers would be interested in reading about it. Not in this story of course, but I've got ideas for one of the other stories in this series that might prove useful. What do you guys think?
Chapter Text
To say Snart was surprised when he heard he had a visitor was an understatement.
"Well, this is a surprise. If only because of what happened the last time we were in this position." Snart said when he saw that the visitor was his sister.
"Just wanted to ask why you did it? Why did you frame me? You knew I was finally getting my life together." Lisa said.
"Because you betrayed me first. We're family, I thought we were supposed to have each other's backs." Snart said and Lisa chuckled humorlessly.
"You actually think I liked being a criminal? Always being on the run, never being able to set down roots? Because I hated it. Every little minute. I hated it. And I hated you for forcing that life on me. And then when I finally get something good for myself, something away from you, you have to try and ruin it. You're the worst big brother in history and I hope that I never see you again. I only came here to say goodbye before you're transferred." Lisa said.
"I'm sorry what?" Snart asked and his sister smirked.
"You didn't hear? Apparently CCPD made a request for you and Mick to be transferred to Argus custody. In fact, I heard something about their most secure supermax prison that's literally impossible to escape. Even for you. So I just wanted to say goodbye. Forever." Lisa said with a smirk.
"You're really okay with that?" Snart asked.
"Why should I care what happens to you when you've never given a damn about me. At least dad was honest about how much he hated me. You're even worse than he is. You raised me and claimed to care about me, when in reality, you just used me for your own selfish ends and used the fact that you kind of raised me to guilt me into staying at your side like a pet. All you ever wanted was for me to be like you, a criminal and you didn't care if that's not what I wanted." Lisa said.
"You're a Snart. Being a criminal is in your blood." Snart said.
"No, only the ones who choose to be criminals believe that. But I chose to be something else. Something better. A person with a real future that doesn't involve a prison cell. I just wish that you could see that. I'm actually happy with my life now. And honestly, there was a time I thought that there might be a place for you in my life now. But I guess that was naive to think that you could actually care about anyone but yourself. I hope that after today, we never see each other again. You're nothing to me anymore. Just someone I share a last name with." Lisa said.
"Why did you come here if you don't care about me?" Snart asked.
"Because I felt like before I could truly move on with my life from you, I needed to finally let you know how much I hate you and that I'm done with you and your shit for good. And now I have and you'll likely never see me again. And you know what, you deserve it. You may have been my brother once, but you haven't acted like it in a long time. And I'm done waiting for you to change and to be the man who raised me again, because honestly, looking back, I'm not sure that man ever existed. So, goodbye Leonard. For good." Lisa said as she got up and walked away from him, leaving her brother shocked by her words to him as he was guided back to his cell.
"So, how did it go?" Mick asked Snart as he returned to his cell.
"Apparently we're being transferred to Argus custody and Lisa basically disowned me." Snart said.
"She's the visitor you had?" Mick asked.
"Yep. And it sounds like she's done with me and wherever the hell it is Argus is putting us, it's a place apparently even we won't be able to escape from." Snart said.
"Isn't that what they said about this place?" Mick asked and Snart snorted as guards approached them.
"Okay prisoners, time to go." one of the guards said as the doors opened, but before either criminal could do anything, they suddenly felt darts enter their necks.
"What the hell?" Mick asked.
"Making sure that you don't get any ideas during the trip." one of the guards said as they both lost consciousness.
Chapter Text
"So, exactly did you get them out of Iron Heights and unconscious like this?" Nora asked, since she, Ray, Jax and Behrad were the only Legends still on the ship, though Jax and Behrad were currently the ones dragging an unconscious Mick and Snart from the truck they'd been using for the transfer to the Waverider's medbay.
"I called Lyla and asked her to arrange a fake prisoner transfer. But I think that Jax and Behrad could use a little help lugging Mick and Snart to the medbay and while I'd do it, your help would be faster." Ray said and Nora nodded.
"Alright boys, let me take it from here." Nora said as Jax and Behrad both looked relieved by the thought of that.
"Thank you. Man, I forgot how heavy this dude is." Jax said as he dropped Mick on the ground as Behrad did the same with Snart.
"How do you know how heavy he is?" Nora asked.
"Because I've had to lug Mick's unconscious drunk body back to the ship more than once." Jax said and Nora nodded as she muttered a quick spell to levitate Snart and Rory to the medbay.
"Thank you." Behrad said, since while he'd never met Snart before now, even in the original timeline, he knew enough about him.
"My pleasure. So, who wants to wake them up?" Nora asked.
"Maybe you should do it, since you're the one who's least likely to get killed after the memory dump, primarily because you can use your magic to protect yourself." Ray said nervously and Nora rolled her eyes at him, though she couldn't blame him considering her own experience with Mick and what she'd heard about Snart.
"Perhaps now would be the best time to restore their memories." Gideon suggested.
"Gideon, are you sure they're restrained?" Ray asked.
"Yes they are." Gideon said.
"Then let's do it." Ray said and Nora rolled her eyes at her boyfriend's cowardice.
Mick growled as he woke up with a killer headache after his memories were restored.
"You'd think I'd be used to a hangover by now." Mick growled as he realized he was restrained as the memories of his old life came back to him.
"Yeah, that's no ordinary hangover there Mick. Sorry about the whole tranquing you thing, but considering how you get, can you blame us for being cautious?" Ray asked as Mick remembered him.
"Not really Haircut. But you can take them off now, I'm not gonna kill you. But where's the captain and I'm not talking about that stupid englishman." Mick groaned as Ray removed his restraints.
"Well, you'll be happy to hear that right now Rip is still rotting in Time Master Prison, since the whole reason the team was assembled now without him is to break him out, though Sara gave us the night off, mainly because she wanted to introduce Ava to her dad and sister, since Laurel's still alive in this reality." Ray said.
"So Sara got her sister back." Mick said and Ray nodded.
"And she's not the only one who got someone she cared about back. Look to your right." Ray said with a smile as Mick turned to see Snart lying in the cot, still unconscious.
"Someone else is gonna blow up the time bastards this time, not him." Mick said, since while he'd gotten closure with Snart's death before and had accepted both his place on the team and his life without Snart, he wouldn't deny that he did feel some form of relief at seeing his old partner alive again.
"Actually, I'm working on developing something to ensure that no one has to blow up with the Time masters this time around. But you're gonna have a lot to bring him up to speed on. Rebecca." Ray said with a chuckle and Mick glared.
"Anyone tells him about that and they fry." Mick said and Ray nodded.
"You'll have to convince Sara and Ava not to do that, since they're not afraid of you and they'll find Snart's reaction hilarious." Ray said and Mick nodded.
"Fair point. But have you mind roofied him yet?" Mick asked.
"Yeah, but we wanted to wait till you woke up to explain everything to him, especially since from what Lyla told us, his sister wants to kill him in this reality." Ray said.
"Yeah, he is not going to react well to what the him of this world did to his sister, since for all his faults the man has many, including a tendency for long annoying speeches, but he always cared about his little sister. Though Lisa did turn on us in this reality, but still." Mick said.
"It sounds like she was getting a better life for herself away from the criminal life." Ray said.
"Yeah, but you know Snart when his ego's hurt. He's like me, only less violent and smarter about it." Mick said and Ray nodded.
"Wonder if he'll ever be able to get Lisa to forgive him, since I know Team Flash has voted against Lisa getting her mind restored under threat of freezing to death, since this world's Lisa is in a relationship with Frost, who has her own body in this world instead of sharing one with Caitlin." Ray said, since Cisco had brought him up to speed on all that stuff.
"Wow, this world is messed up." Mick said.
"I agree, but there are perks to it, since a lot of people who were dead are alive again. Carter, Snart, Laurel, Sara's dad, Professor Stein and a lot of others." Ray said.
"But the Englishman is still alive too. Not sure if that's a good thing." Mick said and Ray rolled his eyes at that, though he couldn't deny that he somewhat shared Mick's opinion, since Rip had an ass to them in the past.
Chapter Text
"Where are you taking me?" Rip Hunter demanded as two guards from the Vanishing Point dragged him behind his former friend and mentor, Time Master Druce.
"I'm sure you're wondering why we haven't killed you yet, since it's become clear that you don't know where your ship went." Gideon said.
"Yes, so why haven't you killed me yet?" Rip asked.
"Because you're much more useful to us alive. You were a highly feared time captain and you will be again. Once we've reconditioned you back to our way of thinking." Druce said as they arrived at a room that Rip recognized all too well.
"You really think that you'll be able to condition me like you do the Hunters? I'm not just some mindless brute." Rip said.
"We'll see about that." Druce said as he nodded for the guards to force Rip into the chair and he was restrained and hooked up to the machine, which Rip could immediately begin to feel burrowing into his brain the moment it was activated, trying to enforce the time master's will into his head, but he did his best to fight it by focusing on his wife and son. Miranda and Jonas, the thought of them gave him the willpower he needed to fight back. Or at least it did until he felt some new force begin pounding into his skull, but he could tell this wasn't the time masters, it was something else entirely. Like the program had been overridden and he felt his mind being overloaded by new memories. Including one that told him exactly where his ship was.
"Enough, Captain Hunter, are you back with us?" Druce asked as he signaled for the machine to stop.
"Yes, Time Master Druce, my loyalties are back where they truly belong." Rip said with a seemingly emotionless voice.
"Excellent, release him." Druce said with a grin as the guards did exactly that, not noticing Rip's grin as he was released.
"I do have one question for you though." Rip said as he got to his feet.
"Really and what might that be?" Druce asked.
"When you ordered Vandal Savage to kill my family, was it personal, or just business?" Rip asked as Druce quickly realized that Rip had fooled him.
"Restrain him." Druce said, only for Rip to quickly disable the guards and steal one of their weapons and killed them.
"How?" Druce asked.
"I know everything Druce. I know about the Oculus and how you and the Time Council are nothing more than a bunch of hypocrites. And I believe that I owe you this." Rip said as he pained the blaster he'd stolen from one of the guards at Druce.
"You don't want to do this Rip." Druce said, only to have Rip glare at him.
"Actually, I've been wanting to do this for a very long time. For all your so-called wisdom of humanity and the timeline, there's one thing you never understood." Rip said angrily as he glared at Druce.
"And what might that be?" Druce asked, trying to find a way to buy time while he looked for an escape route, but wasn't having any luck so far.
"You never mess with a man's family. That is a sacred line that should not be crossed unless you have a death wish." Rip said.
"Think about what you're doing Rip. You could end up leaving the timeline unprotected." Druce said.
"No, what I'm going to do is burn it all down and build it back up the right way. Starting with you." Rip said and before Druce could say another word, Rip pulled the trigger and shot Druce right in the head.
"That was for Miranda and Jonas. Along with Mr. Snart." Rip said as he glared down at his former mentor before making his way out of the room so he could get to the hangar and reunite with both his ship and his team. That is, if they'd take him back and he knew that was a big if.
Chapter Text
After killing Druce and Rip had to admit, that as an action that proved to be far more rewarding than he'd ever expected it to be, since he'd already had a hand in Druce's death once before, but maybe it was just because this time, he'd actually been the one to pull the trigger that actually killed Druce. He supposed that sometimes revenge was satisfying. Mick was right about that, though Rip made certain not to tell him that. Mainly because he didn't want Mick to get any ideas.
But anyways, now Rip was trying to make his way towards the Vanishing Point hangar so that he could steal a ship to get to the 21st century and reunite with his team, since while Rip wanted to save Miranda and Jonas first more than anything, he also knew that the Time Masters would likely be tracking him the moment he left and he had no desire to lead them to his family. Or at least, his wife and son. The Legends, who, even though he knew how poorly he'd treated them in the past, they were also his family and he was more than fine with leading the Time Masters to them, mainly because he knew that if he had to place a wager on who'd win in a fight between the Time Masters and the Legends, his money would be on the Legends every time. He could only hope that the team had been assembled already, though he supposed he'd have to wait until he returned to the Waverider to find out for certain.
Anyways, Rip knew that it would not be easy to make it to the hangar undetected, since literally his only advantage was the fact that the Oculus would not be able to control him, since it didn't work here in the Vanishing Point. Of course, there was the fact that Druce was dead and sadly the time council was well equipped to operate without him. He wished that he had a time courier on him right now. That would make this so much easier.
However, right now, he did not have access to one of those, so he had to keep his focus on getting to the hangar and hope that he would remain undetected. A hope that quickly vanished when he heard someone approach him.
"Hello Rip." Captain Eve Baxter said as he turned to see her aiming a pulse rifle at him.
"I see that you decided to ignore our conversation." Rip said.
"Actually, you're lucky that I'm the one who found you, since you do have a death sentence on your head. And after this so will I." Eve said as she shot two Time Master security members who were coming up behind Rip.
"Okay, I was not expecting that, though it's not unappreciated. But why?" Rip asked.
"I took your advice and did some digging. Turns out the Time Masters are frauds who are controlling time. I've been working to build a revolution against them, but it'll be a lot easier with you free, especially since I heard you killed Druce." Eve said.
"I did and it was very enjoyable. But back to this revolution, how many members do you have?" Rip asked.
"Enough to essentially cause a Civil War in the Time Masters." Eve said and Rip grinned.
"While that is good news, we can't fight them now. This movement, while big, is still new and the Time Masters have the advantage right now, since this is their home turf." Rip said.
"Wait, what are you saying?" Eve asked.
"I'm saying that staying and fighting right now is a very bad idea, since they have the advantage. We need to evacuate the Vanishing Point for now until we have an actual plan to take them down." Rip said and Eve nodded, since that did make sense.
"Since when are you a tactical genius?" Eve asked.
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you, but for now, order all members of your resistance to evacuate and take shelter in fragmentations until we can get word to them of a proper rendezvous." Rip said and Eve nodded.
"What about us? We need to find your ship." Eve said.
"I already know exactly where the Waverider is. But first, we need to make a stop at the refuge, inform mother about the incident and most importantly, make sure she and our past selves are safe." Rip said and Eve nodded.
"I don't like bringing her into this, since we're basically asking her to choose between her children." Eve said.
"I know, but she needs to know the truth. One way or another." Rip said.
"I'll also send some resistance members to London 2166 to get Miranda and Jonas out." Eve said and Rip nodded at her thankfully as they left to head towards Eve's ship, the Acheron while she sent out a message to the rest of the resistance to abandon the Vanishing Point until they were ready to launch a counterattack.
Chapter 25: Series Rewritten
Chapter Text
Sorry to do this again, but honestly, considering all the trouble I've been having coming up with ideas for this series lately, instead, I'm going to be rewriting this entire Second Chances series, since honestly, I feel like this version was more of a rough draft. I'll be leaving it up but making it clear that this is a rough draft and I'll be putting up a more refined version of this series at a later date. I hope you guys understand and if you're mad, I get it, but please don't lash out at me. I'm only doing this because I want to make this series as good as it can possibly be. Now, enough, hope you understand and if you don't, no one is forcing you to read this, and I'm sorry if you take offense at that, but those people and you know who you are, who want to complain about this, well, tell it to someone who cares, since I don't, I just don't want to deal with your messages. I apologize to those of you that didn't apply to, but I felt I needed to address it now. Enjoy this series while you can and a new and improved version of it will be up soon, along with this one.
