Work Text:
Being born with hair red as fire condemned her to be abandoned by her parents as a deviation from the norms of her tribe.
They expected her to die.
But she was saved by a pack of wolves and grew up being one of them. She might not be a wolf in body, but she was in heart and soul.
She then she met a man who opened the doors to a world full of people with powers that called themselves 'Mutants'.
The first time her powers were unleashed, it was to warn them of an attack, but although she was able to warn her allies, it all ended badly and ended up with everyone dying.
Everyone except her.
And the pain that flooded her was one that she never forgot. She felt so guilty about the death of her mentor and her friends. She felt so guilty that she thought about killing herself using her own damn powers.
But while she waited for the release of death, the Phoenix Force manifested and saved her from it.
The Phoenix Force felt the mermaid-like call of the redhead's powers and decided to bond with the she-wolf in order to complete her purpose, to raze planets to ashes.
And when she was about to fall to a thirst for blood, that wolf who saved her as a child, saved her once more and the young woman decided to use her powers to help.
The Phoenix Force would not control her.
She then recruits the deity named Odin Borson, a handsome man with golden hair and eyes like the sky.
Together, they recruited other beings with powers and fought together for a long time, defeating every enemy who dared to threaten Earth and its inhabitants.
Some time later, the feelings between the god and the phoenix did not take long to finally resurface and they entered into a romantic relationship.
They stayed together, even after all of her friends have already died, she was still alive with him. Until she died.
The redhead had decided to stop being the avatar of the Phoenix Force and with this, she left her immortality behind and she died, many years after her friends died, but in the end, her time came.
However, faced with such a strong Avatar, the Phoenix Force would not sit idly by, not when it had found the perfect avatar for its immortal and divine body.
So the young redhead reincarnated over and over again, always meeting with the Phoenix Force and bonding with it.
These two beings would be connected forever.
The cosmic identity, the Phoenix Force.
And her, Firehair.
And that's why An was not surprised to learn that although no one in her family was a redhead with green eyes, she was.
That although neither of her parents were mutants, she was a very powerful psychic.
But despite everything, the Phoenix Force would always be there.
Years passed and the beautiful redhead grew up to become the CEO of Stark Industries.
Straight and arrogant with dazzling beauty, the name An Stark was known to all.
But the young woman did not accept to be part of the Avengers, she had already passed that stage, she was now only an ally who would use her powers if she was called due to something very serious.
Thus, for the first time in thousands of years, she was finally able to see the adult face of her son.
Thor.
An doesn't say anything.
She doesn't want to ruin her son's life.
He believed that he already had a mother, and she felt that she had no right to want to steal that from him. Not when he didn't even know she existed. She had no right to anything.
Therefore, she decided to act as if she was just another friend in the Avengers.
They fought Loki and won and Thor had to go, but An was ready to say goodbye to her son one more time.
But she didn't expect that Odin himself would come down to look for his son.
Maybe two minutes had passed, but Odin couldn't help but see the woman in front of him.
His eyes couldn't believe what they were seeing.
That woman.
The mother of her son.
The one who should have been his queen.
The woman he never stopped loving, no matter how many millennia have passed.
Thor looked confused, as did the other Avengers. But Thor felt it more, Odin was his father. He knew very well how he was. But there was no way that he could had met the Iron Woman before.
However, she also seemed to know him.
What the hell was going on here?
"You look beautiful...and young." The Father of Asgard spoke at last.
"You seem to have aged, my king." She smiled softly at him.
Odin laughs bitterly, surprising his children. They had never heard such a tone come from their father.
While Odin only felt pain. He was a god, and he will live for thousands of thousands of years, but they are not totally immortal. They will grow old and at some point, their time will come.
"Was our love always destined for ruin?" He asked with tears in his eyes. Everyone opened their eyes at Odin's words. They were so confused.
An smiles sadly. The phoenix will always keep her young and beautiful.
Eternal.
