Summary
Everything about the detective was artistic. Her house was filled with art that meant something to her. Even the painting of Versailles in her room had meaning to her, although she denied it. Connor had taken note of the way she stared at it one night and afterward, he scoured the internet to try and find out everything about it. The Palace of Versailles was a royal chateau in France, with years of political and national history tied to it. The palace itself was art. Connor thought that Sailer and the palace were alike. Both were art. However . . . if Sailer was Versailles, Connor was Marie Antoinette. Antoinette had attempted to flee Versailles to save herself and her family. Connor fled Sailer to save her. He had to finish his mission. She would—she should—understand why he left her. It was for the best. After all . . . he was just an android, built for a purpose. Sailer, his favorite detective, was art, and she had so much more to experience, so much more to be, than the tragic lover of an android.
