Shippers on Deck

Summary:

"You think they take turns being on top?" Cora asked. " 'cause I think they probably do."

Work Text:

"They're totally fucking," Cora said, watching Nagata and Hopper have what Ordy was sure was a Very Serious Conversation about captain stuff. "Like, just look at them."

Ordy did not want to look at a superior officer and imagine them fucking someone. Or being fucked by someone for that matter. Hard to picture Hopper putting up with Nagata getting one over on him though, even if they were kind of friends now.

Friends who were definitely not fucking, no matter what Cora thought.

"You think they take turns being on top?" Cora asked. " 'cause I think they probably do."

"I'm not looking and I'm not going to think about this," Ordy said, like that was going to help.

"Yeah, no, they're definitely switching." Cora nodded. "And I bet they get up to kinky shit sometimes. Like tying each other up and cooking each other breakfast."

"My mom used to cook me breakfast," Ordy said.

Cora stared at him.

Ordy tried not to look like he'd just made attempt number five to change the subject already. "What? She did. She was a great cook."

Hopper laughed at something Nagata had said, and Nagata was wearing that smug little smile that said 'gotcha!' and also maybe 'I love you', not that Ordy was going to speculate on that sort of thing.

"Damn, they're cute. Like kittens," Cora said.

Kittens who tie each other up and cook each other breakfast? Ordy thought but didn't ask. "If I agree, can we stop talking about this?"

"Nah. I'm bored," Cora said, like that explained anything. "Trying to figure out if they're fucking gives me something to do, you know?"

Hopper reached out to touch Nagata's arm. Ordy thought they might hug but then they ended up shaking hands and parting ways, Hopper heading back in their direction with Nagata looking after him. Ordy thought Nagata looked kind of wistful, but what did he know? He got paid to steer the ship and kick ass, not to speculate on what his superior officers got up to in their spare time.

"Good talk, sir?" Cora asked, once Hopper'd rejoined them.

"Yeah, we're having dinner tomorrow in some Japanese restaurant," Hopper said, and then, probably because he spotted something about Cora's expression being off, "As friends. We're friends."

"Good to see you improving international relations, sir."

"Friends," Hopper repeated. From his tone, Ordy couldn't tell if he was disappointed or not. "Uh, right. International relations. Very important, those."

Cora mouthed 'date' at Ordy.

"My dad proposed to my mom at a restaurant," Ordy volunteered. "She says it was real romantic. With candlelight and rose petals and a string quartet and stuff."

Hoper stopped walking. Cora rolled her eyes at him. "I ... " Hopper said. "I'm pretty sure there's not going to be any string quartets at a Japanese restaurant. Or rose petals."

"Could be some of those paper lanterns," Ordy said. "Oh, and fortune cookies! Everybody loves fortune cookies, right? Sounds like you've planned a fun night out, sir."

"Fun." Hopper shook his head, then resumed walking again. "Right. Yeah."

"All right, I take it back, there's no way that guy's on top," Cora said, once Hopper was more or less out of earshot. "Bet you it's Nagata who's doing all the hard work."

"Bet you Hopper doesn't even know Nagata's interested in doing any kind of work," Ordy countered, because he knew what he'd seen, and no way Nagata was already getting some - or Hopper, for that matter. Which just went to show that officers were kind of funny sometimes.

"You're on," Cora said.
