    He wouldn’t let this angel die. He—his chest constricted painfully as he looked down at the body in his arms—he couldn’t. Every fiber of his being told him so. If this were any other angel, maybe he wouldn’t feel so strongly, maybe he could just leave the other to die on the gently-lapping shore and crawl back to Claude in humiliation.

    But there was something about this angel, something in the graceful bend of his body and the dark sweep of his eyelashes cutting through the stark white of his cheeks, of the scar resting just so over the thin line of his brow- like Sylvain had already memorized the feel of them on his fingertips, had tasted each dip and crevice with his tongue. But no; that couldn’t be possible. He’d remember, surely, if they’d crossed paths before.
