Ink sniffled a bit. He truly found the reason stupid, it was so idiotic to him that it only made him cry even worse. Though he covered his mouth with his hand, as he hiccuped and hipervented. He had been trying so hard not to cry, and now was trying so hard to calm himself down.
It hurt. It hurt so much that it only made him cry harder. The pain only grew. But it was so strange. This was supposed to only hurt mentally, not physically. Why? Why does it hurt physically when something makes you so sad?
He hiccuped, though he tried to force himself to become silent. But no matter what he did, his sniffles became louder.
He just wanted some attention… to be spoiled a bit. (Almost) Everyone said they loved him, but it wasn’t true. They actually just… needed him to be protected. Otherwise, they wouldn’t care about him. And it was so clear, so easy to see. Today, after a fight with the bad sanses and some of their allies. Everyone finished so badly hurt, luckily they won and the bad sanses fled. But as everyone helped each other they all ignored Ink, probably even forgot about him…
A loud gasp escaped from him as he clumsily tried to heal himself. He could of course regenerate himself, but it took too long. So normally instead he used his brush. Painting over the bruises, scratches, and injuries. So that they would heal faster and wouldn’t be noticeable. It burned him but it helped him heal faster… and more painfully.
Of course, asking for help would be a good idea, but he did not want to annoy anyone. He feared annoying anyone. What would they say about him? The so-called creator couldn’t even heal himself or take care of himself… everyone would lose trust in him and probably become afraid. Hope would be lost. Swap would probably have a lot more work to do and become more stressed. And the sudden negativity would be so bad for Dream, probably hurting the poor skeleton.
Ink just couldn’t budge into doing such a thing, he couldn’t ask for help. Many would call him dumb, but he had his reasons. And a duty to take care of, he couldn’t be taking breaks whenever he wanted. Of course, everything was more relaxed now. Not many things to worry about, the bad sanses had after all started to do their own things. So not much trouble happened around the universe.
Still, hope was needed for everything to probably be kept like how it was…
“AHHH! AGH-” Ink quickly covered his mouth, his eyes widening in pain and fear.
He was scared someone had heard him. He was after all in the Star sanses secret house or whatever Swap liked to call it. The energetic skeleton was very childish even though he was quite a serious skeleton, at least most of the time.
Ink looked back down at his now bleeding leg. He had opened the injury again by accident. He hisses a bit in pain as he accommodates himself. Grabbing his brush and slowly nearing it to the wound. Slowly he started covering the wound with the paint, hissing in pain and biting his “lip”.
Suddenly the softly lit room became bright as the switch was turned on. Ink’s eyes widened as he stared up at none other than Dream. The skeleton had an expression of shock that Ink rarely saw. He frowned and quickly closed the door before moving to Ink. The artist tried to move away worried and scared. Only to quickly stop as he hissed in pain, a whimper escaping from him as he soon felt a hand on his shoulder.
Ink looked up at Dream, fear in his eyes. Dream’s gaze softened, he slowly cupped Ink’s face and whipped off… some tears. Ink hadn’t noticed he was crying. Probably due to the pain he had been feeling.
“Ink… why didn’t you ask for help? What are you even going!?” Dream exclaimed, signaling to the brush. It’s tip inside the injury as some paint leaked down his leg. His bones soon started trembling. The brush was quickly taken away from him and thrown across the room, splattering some paint. Dream quickly rushed out of the room…
Ink hiccuped a bit, his thoughts slowly starting to drown him again… Dream probably decided he shouldn’t waste his time on him. Slowly and trembling, Ink got up. He grabbed onto the bed's border for support before leaning against the wall. His legs were shaking so badly…
The pain started blossoming through him again, he held back a cry of pain. Slowly moving forward again, barely able to lift up his feet. Suddenly Dream appeared in front of him. A frown on his face. This time it wasn’t a worried one, it was an angry one. Ink froze as the other stared down at him. Soon yelping as Dream swiftly picked him up.
“Seriously Ink… you’re so stubborn” Dream mumbled, he slowly placed Ink down on the bed.
“What do you even want!?” Ink demanded. Dream froze and stared at him, confusion clearly visible.
“Ink… I don’t want anything… you’re hurt, I want to help you because clearly, you aren’t taking proper care of yourself!” Dream exclaimed “Don’t you trust me!? I know many only see us, Star Sanses, as the people who can help them! Only sees us as heroes or something and done! But we are like a family Ink! YOU CAN TRUST-ST… ME!” his voice broke in the end.
Ink sat down there in shock…
“You truly don’t wa-…”
“No, just forget about that and let me heal you” Dream smiled softly. Ink started blushing a bit, he wasn’t expecting all of whatever had just happened a few seconds ago.
Dream lifted a first aid kit and put it next to Ink. The golden skeleton looked up at Ink, seeking an answer. He was about to ask Ink when the other one nodded. He slowly took off his clothes.
Slowly unwrapping his scarf, then taking off the gloves, then the shirt… and so on. He was only left with his pants on, but they were rolled up to his knees. Dream started blushing a bit but quickly got to work. He grabbed a wet cloth and started getting rid of the paint in the injuries.
“Why do you even put paint on them?” Dream questioned.
“Helps me get rid of them faster,” Ink simply answered.
“But it… it hurts you when you do that” Dream mumbled.
“I’m used to it,” Ink yawned. Dream felt silent, but thought very well of what to say next.
“As the leader of the Star Sanses I prohibit you to do so” Dream declared as he got rid of the paint from the cloth. Before getting it wet again and placing it on top of another wound.
“WHAT!?”
“You heard me right Ink, if I ever catch you doing that again I will not hesitate to make you take a few days off to heal properly… For the love of the creators! Even a month if necessary” Dream snapped.
He rarely snapped, the protector of happiness was very good at controlling his emotions. While he of course had a harder time understanding negative emotions, he wasn’t 100% excluded from feeling them. Still the other might have a bit of a hard time in controlling them when he finally snapped.
“Fine…” Ink groaned, Dream glared at him before finally putting the clothes away.
Then he slowly places a hand on a broken rib, wrapping his phalanges around it and starting to use his magic. He concentrated and soon started healing Ink. The artist sighed in relief as the sting present in there was soon gone and replaced by warmth.
It was quick before there was another sting and suddenly warmth. And it kept on going like that. As soon as the warmth was gone he felt cold, and then there was a painful string somewhere in his body to suddenly be taken away by warmth. Ink didn’t know how long it took, or when he even closed his eyes. But he was startled when he felt himself being picked up again.
“I know I got rid of your injuries, but not all healed well… you had already hurt them a lot worse… let’s go get some food!” Dream said, his tone changing from soft to an excited tone.
He slowly placed down the injured artist on a kitchen table, Ink was about to say something when a blanket was thrown into his hands. He looked a bit startled, about to protest against the sudden movement but Dream was already preparing dinner. Ink rolled his eyes and covered himself with the blanket. It was really late in the night and his body was losing temperature as sleep slowly took over him.
He didn’t know for how long he zoned out, all he knew was that he had flinched when a plate was placed in front of him. Dream looked at him confused before sitting next to him.
“Are you… okay?” Dream asked.
“... Of course!” Ink laughed.
“Ink… please tell me” Dream sighed. “What has been bothering you? What has been making you do this!?” Dream exclaimed towards the injuries, especially the mistreated ones.
Ink looked away, he did not want to answer that. Dream would laugh, and probably tell him to leave for being so weak.
“It’s nothing! I promise!” Ink exclaimed, waving his hands in front of himself. Dream grabbed both of them and lowered them.
“Nothing, huh?” he said, obviously not believing Ink. “Ink”
“It’s a stupid reason! Do not worry!” Ink snapped.
“Ink! Please, you can trust me!” Dream begged, Ink glared at him before sighing softly.
“I… I just feel alone…” Ink sighed, he knew he should have kept denying it. Because he knew that now he would not stop. “Like no one cared about, that they only saw me… saw me as their solution to deal with troubles and-” he broke down again.
As he cried, Dream slowly neared him and hugged him. Ink didn’t hesitate to hug back and grabbed onto the golden skeleton tightly. Tears kept flowing down, getting the other shirt went.
Dream slowly shifted them both so that Ink was sitting on his lap. The smaller skeleton hugged him tightly as he sniffed. Hiccuping, he felt so tired but had so much energy at the same time.
“Ink… everyone cares about you, we actually all thought that after fights you wanted your own alone time to heal, you normally just teleported away quickly so… we thought that you’d… you know, just wanted to stay alone” Dream sighed, Ink sniffled and hid his face in Dream’s neck.
Slowly the other rubbed circles in his back, slowly feeling the bumps of the other back. He hesitantly kissed Ink’s forehead. The other shifted around a bit after that but once again stayed still.
“You know, the food is getting cold” Dream chuckled. Ink quickly sat up at this. He was quite hungry after all. He stared over at the delicious omelets. They smelled delicious. Ink was about to get up when he noticed Dream just ate in the position they were as if it was nothing. Ink decided to do the same to not annoy the other.
He had just helped him so he didn’t want to bring more trouble to him. As soon as Dream finished he hugged Ink, flustering the artist once again. He couldn’t help but blush a lot. Like, a lot. His face looked like a rainbow right now.
Dream hummed happily as he relaxed on Ink's shoulder. Ink just kept eating the omelet, it for some reason became harder to eat. He could feel Dream’s breathing against his neck. This only made his blushing worse. Almost choking on the omelet, he could then fill Dream stifle and pull away. Dream was probably very tired, maybe that’s why when he felt comfortable he relaxed.
Ink’s blushing got worse, Dream trusted him enough to relax around him and fall asleep on him.
“So… Dream, um…” Ink didn’t know why he spoke, he didn’t even know what to say.
“Hmm?” Dream hummed.
“The omelet is amazing,” Ink quickly said.
“Thank you!” Dream giggled. Ink blushed at the other’s cute laughter.
Ink sighed happily and got up, taking the plates and washing them. Dream tried to insist that he could wash the plates, but Ink denied it and did it himself.

Sniffling, he was sitting down again in his bed. The covers covered him completely. He was grabbing onto his legs. Arms wrapped around them. He knew he could trust others, especially his teammates, especially Dream. But why couldn’t he bring himself to do so? Dream had been trying too hard to gain his trust, Swap soon discovered and was doing the same. Both were doing their best to strengthen their friendship, always checking in on him.
But Ink didn’t feel like he deserved it, he felt like he was being given too much. And since he was the busiest out of all of them, he couldn’t give them the same treatment all the time. This only made him feel worse.
What Ink didn’t expect was feeling someone sit next to him. He froze and hugged his legs tighter. The blanket was pulled off him. Ink looked away, he didn’t want to meet the others' gaze. He knew very well it was Dream. He had after all been paying extra attention to Ink. It didn’t annoy the artist but it didn’t please him either.
“Ink…” the other softly said. “What has been annoying you?” Dream asked softly.
“Nothing!” Ink gasped as he was pulled into the other’s lap.
“Are you questioning again if you deserve attention or not?” Dream asked, always catching up pretty quickly. Ink frowned.
“So what?” he asked.
“Well, then I must show you how much… I love you” The works stuck to Ink, his face exploded in blush. Dream… loved him? No, he was hearing things wrong. It was possible.
Suddenly his train of thoughts was interrupted when Dream kissed him, his eyes widened. Ink was frozen for a few seconds before he slowly returned the kiss. Gently melting into the others embrace. He hoped this moment would never end… but it did.
When both separated from each other, Dream looked literally golden and Ink like a rainbow. They both flusteredly looked down and away.
“Umm… sorry if it was so sudden or that you did not wish for-”
“Don’t worry Dream, it’s okay…” Ink squeaked, before covering his mouth. Becoming flustered again. Dream only chuckled and smiled at him gently.
“So, do you accept my love?” Dream asked, Ink froze for a few seconds before nodding excitedly. A huge smile on his face, his pupils starting to change colors from the excitement. Though he quickly forced himself to calm down before he vomited from excitement on Dream. A weird thing that happened to him when very excited.
Ink launched again for a kiss, this time it became a bit more heated. Escalating a bit more. Right now, Ink was in the lead. But Dream started catching up pretty quickly. And even though both didn’t want to pull away, as they melted into the kiss. They needed air. Even if they didn’t have lungs, breathing or at least acting like they did, it helped spread the magic around their body.
Both huffed as they stared into each other's eyes, a huge blush on their face. Dream smiled and leaned into Ink’s vertebra, leaving lots of kisses. Ink chuckled at the affection. As soon as Dream stopped, Ink had a mischievous smile on him. He knew very well something about Dream that very few knew…
Ink quickly started kissing Dream’s neck, the blush on Dream’s face expanded. He bit his lip. Soon enough as Ink started kissing the other’s neck faster, Dream started laughing. After all, Dream was ticklish.
“Jejejje… hahahahahahaha! Ink! INK! Hahhahahah!”
“Look who’s ticklish!” Ink giggled, starting to kiss the other's neck a bit more… heatedly. He then curiously bit the others neck, a lewd sound escaped from the other.
Everything went silent, Ink moved away from Dream. Staring at the other wide-eyed. Dream only covered his mouth. Both were blushing like crazy.
“S-sorry!” Ink squeaked.
Dream’s look of shock soon changed, for a more smug look.
The whole night both kept on teasing each other, kissing each other, and giggling around. But they mostly tickled each other and cuddled each other. Ink couldn’t believe how much love Dream was giving him, how much attention he was being given. He loved it. And he loved how he could give it in return.
Soon enough morning came, Ink woke up extremely comfortable. He had two blankets on top of him. And he was hugging on to Dream. He looked up at the other and kissed him. The other replied with a soft chuckle, before seemingly being drowned into tiredness again. This made Ink giggle, he let go of the other and slowly got up.
A yelp escaped from him when he was thrown back against the bed. He looked startled over to Dream.
“Stay with me a bit more…” Dream yawned.
Ink smiled gently, patted Dream’s cheek, and fell back asleep. He didn’t really have anything to do that day either. He could check on the aus later.
