He took her hand, helping her get her footing on the boat while she bade a tearful goodbye to the monsters who helped them escape. The monsters who were not so monstrous. The monsters who were their friends.
And they decided to stay at Skelkatraz. It was their home.
He didn't know much about that. He didn't know what he'd do with himself after she didn't need him anymore, when she would finally finish the island and defeat the evil that pursued her. She would have a home, but would he? Could he stay?
After all these troubling dreams and sleepless nights, he felt uneasy. He knew his journey wouldn’t end when hers did, there was something more to him that wasn’t going away. It frustrated him, all he wanted to do was stay by her side. He didn't have to be a builder--he was content being a protector--but why were these images and feelings pulling him away?
She turned to him, her big goofy smile bright as ever on her face. "Are you ready?"
"Yeah, let's get off this rock." He grinned back at her, willing the bad thoughts away, but faltering until she squeezed his hand and confidence pulsed through him.
