Lucy pushed open the door to the mystery room carrying two mugs of tea.
“Here you are prof, just the way you like it”
“Thank you dear” Al smiled at Lucy as his mug was placed down, somehow Alfendi managed to thank Lucy warmly every time she made him tea, which made her want to make him more tea.
“You’re welcome handsome”
“what a pleasant nickname for your boss”
“well I ent blind am I. How’s ya tea?”
“Perfect, as always sweetheart”
Lucy skipped over to the window watching the rain splatter against the pane. She was extra excited as Al had agreed to watch a zombie movie with her and this gave her the excuse to be close to him outside of work. Everyone they worked with thought they were a couple, even the criminals they interrogated thought they were. Somehow Al seemed comfortable hugging, even kissing her through out the day without ever questioning their friendship and why would she complain? She has a sizeable crush on her boss and his touch sent shivers down her spine a few hundred times a day.
“It’s right dark out Prof! Ready to go home?”
“Mine or yours?”
“Mine? I have popcorn!”
“deal, I’ll just tidy up here a bit first”
“let me help handsome”
Lucy and Alfendi stacked case files into neat piles on their desks, and Lucy skipped over to the window to close the blinds as Al waited at the light switch. Outside Lucy opened up an umbrella and Al held her tight to his waist keeping them both dry from the rain.
“Are you warm Lucy dear?”
Lucy felt the heat from her dear prof all over her body, his arm draped over her shoulder, his waist pressed to her side. How could she be cold?
“Not at all Al, you keep me dead warm always”
Lucy unlocked the apartment door and Alfendi started boiling the kettle making tea.
“Aint that my job?”
“no, I’m starting to feel embarrassed how often you make me tea”
“some assistant I am if my boss is making tea”
“oh sweetheart, you’re much more to me than an assistant. You know that right?”
Alfendi leaned across the kitchen island kissing Lucy on the cheek causing her to giggle. ‘this is normal right?’ Lucy blushed. she was sure her face was always red around Alfendi, that and her palms a little sweaty from nerves.
“Hey Al, why don’t you have a girlfriend? You’re a right catch”
“I guess we can summise the same reason you don’t have a boyfriend?”
“Well, I have you to spend time with so I ain’t sore about it. You’re almost like a boyfriend anyway”
“What an interesting observation.”
“it’s a little true ain’t it? We’re always hugging or kissing, and I don’t do nowt like that with Blaine or Dustin”
“Does it redeem my character that I kiss your cheek or forehead rather than your lips?”
“please Alfie, I’m not complaining. I love what I have with you”
Al set the two mugs of tea down on the small coffee table before sitting down on the sofa, gesturing for Lucy to come and sit next to him with a soft smile.
“Actually Al, would you mind if we watched the movie from my bed? My legs are freezing cold still. If its comfy for you?”
“Oh okay, I can manage that”
“Can you wait here just a moment while I get into my pyjamas Prof?”
“Sure thing sweetheart. I’ll get our tea”
