Work Text:

Caitlyn blinks, once, twice—and the empty, dark and frankly dirty warehouse tells her very clearly what is going on. When she lifts her head, there she is: Jinx, on a spinning chair, her knees raised to her chest, her eyes wide, leaned towards Caitlyn, biting down on her bottom lip.

Great.

Nothing ever happens to her, but getting kidnapped isn’t nice—there’s a pit in Caitlyn’s stomach every time, and the dangerous glimmer in Jinx’ eyes doesn’t make it easier.

“Bloody hell,” she mutters, struggling against the metal chains for a moment. They’re cold, digging into her skin, leaving her tingling—and Jinx’ eyes narrow in an invisible smile as she tilts her head. “What is it this time, Jinx?”

Jinx hums, letting one leg fall off the chair so she can lean towards her even closer, before reaching out, brushing through Caitlyn’s hair.

“I’ve always been fascinated by your hair,” she says, in a nonchalant way, as if this was a sleepover or something. Caitlyn scoffs, glares, shivers at the rough pads of Jinx’ fingers when they scrape the side of her face. The other woman smells like gunpowder and gasoline. “It’s so soft and straight, like water, almost. I am so jealous—my hair is all coarse.”

“Because you’ve never cut it in your life,” slips out of Caitlyn before she can stop herself, and Jinx grins. There’s no escape route in view. Begrudgingly, she turns her face back to Jinx.

“What is it you want from me?”

Jinx lifts her brows, hops off her chair and circles Caitlyn, almost like a predator. A wild cat, maybe. A rat. A crow. Something like that.

(Something with an almost ruined beauty. Caitlyn pushes the thought aside together with the shiver at the way Jinx’ eyes glow eerily in the dark.)

“Sheesh, you always want to leave again so quickly, don’t you?” Jinx says, then she cups Caitlyn’s face while standing behind her, causing her to flinch. It’s always like this—Jinx always leaves her heart racing. She presses her eyes shut. “Let’s have a little fun for a change, yes? It’s not like I can keep you for long anyway.”

Something tightens in Caitlyn’s chest at those words. Jinx is volatile, unpredictable. Nothing she says should be taken seriously.

(Still, what does she mean keep her? Why does she sound bitter over that?)

“I don’t think I like your idea of fun,” Caitlyn mutters, and Jinx laughs, a ragged sound that Caitlyn is embarrassed to admit she hears in her dreams. In her nightmares. Not that it matters.

“Oh,” Jinx whispers, almost airily, and this fragile tone in her voice doesn’t suit her at all. It makes Caitlyn shiver. “You won’t. You don’t like me, after all.”

Again. Caitlyn swallows. This is going nowhere, is it? They’re turning in circles, around and around and around, and Jinx will tug her along until they both perish.

(Maybe Caitlyn doesn’t mind as much as she likes to pretend she does.)

Notes:

do not @ me but this ship intrigues me more than caitvi does (though i love caitvi!!! i just like conflict and unhealthy relationships idk) my knowledge of lol lore is limited, but afaik cait and jinx have a sort of cat and mouse dynamic in game, so this was based on that. this mostly is a short thing to test the waters for their dynamic,,,, since i haven't even read fic about this ship yet (i keep getting distracted)

happy new year!!! my last fic for the year and it's this lmfao
