Chapter Text

“RUN!” Four voices screamed, footsteps running across, as a white fluffy cat followed close behind them.

“I hate cats!”

“Aw, but they’re so cute when we’re all big, Blue!” A cheerful voice giggled back and gasped as the cat swatted at them. “Fluffy is just being mean!”

“Fluffy wants to eat you!”

“Red, Blue, enough!” A calmer voice spat, “For now, can we just hurry and find a hiding spot!?”

“Ugh, why us!? Why in Hylia’s name did we have to agree to this mission?!”

“Well Blue, we did because the kid was missing ole’Fluffy here. We just happened to find a Minish portal to shrink into and ran into the cat!” A fourth and final voice replied, it was such a mess…

“Link, it’s terrible!” The little girl wailed as she tugged onto Twilight’s tunic, “Fluffy is missing!”

Twilight sighed as he rubbed her head, she was one of the local village girls who he had met in Castle Town while running an errand before he had met the others. “It’ll be okay.” he shook his head, “Fluffy will show back up.”

“B-but…” she stammered as she began to wail even harder, “mama said she won’t last long out in the wild!”

Twilight sighed softly, the girl was only eight-years-old, so he couldn’t become too upset over her reaction. He bent down to her level and smiled, “Tell you what, I’ll tell the others to split up and look for Fluffy, okay? We’ll find her and bring her home, does that sound alright, Kiki?”

Kiki wiped her big hazel eyes quicky, “Y-you...you will?”

“Yes.” he smiled and looked at Wild, “Care to make Kiki a snack while she waits?”

Wild grinned as he scooped her up into his arms, “Come on, kiddo! I’ll make you some honey apple crepes as we wait!”

As Wild took Kiki away, Twilight turned to the rest of the group, “Alright, we’ll split up so we can cover as much as we can in the quickest time possible.”

Time nodded, “Sounds good, we don’t want to keep the little one waiting too long.” He smiled as he put a hand on Warrior’s shoulder. He looked at the group, “Twilight and I will go north, Sky and Wind can go west, Warriors and Legend can go south, and Four and Hyrule can go east.”

The group nodded back at their leader and Wind huffed, “Why can’t we just lure the cat out with fish?”

“The cat might be stuck somewhere.” Four spoke, “she could be trapped in someone’s house or something.”

“So,” Sky frowned, “cats are like remlits, correct?”

“Somewhat.” Twilight smiled, “they just can’t fly. So, no throwing them off ledges, alright?”

Sky made a face at him, “Now, why would I do that?” he asked innocently and Legend scoffed, “We watched you when you did in Skyloft!”

The chosen hero shrugged at that while Hyrule chuckled softly at the image of Legend screaming at Sky throwing Mia off the roof of the Knight Academy.

Wind frowned, “On my island, most people have pigs as pets. It’s rare when you see a cat!”

Four blinked as Wind nudged him, “What do you think of them?”

“I...like them somewhat but…” Four shifted uncomfortably, “They sometimes freak me out.”

“Ohhh, I mean, they are a bit weird.” Wind nodded and looked up, “Well...guess we better go then…”

Four smiled as he nodded, “See you soon.”

Wind waved as he walked away with Sky and Four smiled softly at Hyrule, “Shall we go on?”

Hyrule nodded quickly, “Yeah!” he looked at Four, “So uh...are cats common in your time?”

Four looked at him as they walked, “uh...somewhat. I’m not a huge fan of cats...they don’t like me very much.” He replied, “I have...a slight fear of them.” Okay mostly that fear was from Green, Red adored cats, they were one of his favorite animals. Just...the rest of him was weary around them due to being attacked many times during his first adventure.

Some cats were nice...hopefully...Fluffy was one of them.

As Four and Hyrule walked, Hyrule glanced at Four, who was looking at his shadow. “Four, you’ve been awfully quiet.”

Four looked quickly up from the stone road, “O-oh!” he blushed, “Sorry, been thinking about Fluffy.” he quickly responded and looked at his companion.

The brunette nodded, “In my era, cats aren’t seen too often. I have seen paintings of them.” He confessed, “mostly the rich own the cats.”

“Does Aurora or Dawn own one?” Four questioned and Hyrule smiled, “Dawn used to when we were kids. Her cat was white like Fluffy too.”

Four smiled at him as he added, “I don’t own one, but I’ve met a few. One of the villagers in town owns an orange cat, they’re nice.”

“Have you met any mean cats?” Hyrule asked and Four shuddered, “Yes...some are horrible!”

Hyrule laughed a little at the smithy’s reaction, “Why do you say that?”

“Cats have sharp claws and pointy teeth!” Four exclaimed, letting Green’s slight fear of cats come out. “I mean, don’t get me wrong, they’re adorable but…deadly.”

“Cute but deadly?” Hyrule mused as he hummed, “Just like Wind.”

Four chuckled at that, “Yes, just like Wind. Just don’t let him know we said that.”

“Of course.”

The duo looked up as they heard a muffled meow, “Over there!” Four cried and pointed at a window, where a pure white cat sat. “Looks like Fluffy found her way into an old house.”

Hyrule nodded, “But how do we get in?”

Four looked around, “there must be a small opening…” he sighed, “How about we split up to find a way?”

The brunette nodded again, “Okay!”

Four watched as the older Link walked to the back of the old building and he quickly looked around for a crack, or at least a Minish portal.

“Ah hah!” He grinned as he eyed an old tree stump, the shortest Link jumped on top and quickly spoke the words Ezlo had spoken all those years ago. He grinned as he shrank into Minish size, “Alright, there are a few cracks in the walls we can get through, let’s hope Fluffy isn’t right there to…” he gulped, “swat us and eat us!”

The small hero quickly ran towards the wall and slowly climbed into a tiny hole. He bit his lip as he glanced around quickly. “No Fluffy...she must be still at that window on the other side.” Four thought and smiled to himself as he fully entered the old house.

The house must have been recently abandoned or people just really respected the interior. The exterior looked old though…. “How odd…” Vio’s voice whispered, “This house looks amazing inside, I just wonder how Fluffy even got inside.”

“The door must have been unlocked so she could have just gotten curious.” Green replied and Four nodded, that must have been it.

“I can’t wait to grow back to normal size so I can cuddle Fluffy!!” Red giggled and Blue groaned at that, he and Green mostly hated cats. Vio didn’t mind them, Red adored them.

“Yeah, yeah, Red…” Four whispered, “We’ll grow back and split so you can pet Fluffy.”

As Red began to cheer, Four looked up as he heard footsteps, he gasped as he saw pure white paws coming towards him. “Hey!” He yelped, “I’m not food!”

“Mrew?” The cat tilted her head and gently pawed at Four’s hood. The Link groaned, “Come on, why aren’t you listening? Fluffy, your owner sent me!”

He yelped as the cat tried to lift him up, “HEY!” Blue began to take over now, “Listen here, Fluffball…I am not a mouse!”

Fluffy just ignored him and Four growled as he was dropped. He quickly began to run and shivered as he heard Fluffy chasing after him.

He panted as he hid behind a leg of an old chair, “Okay…” He whispered, “how about splitting, guys? If we split up, we can lure Fluffy to the entrance and hopefully Hyrule is out there!”

Legend scoffed as he snuck away from Warriors he was getting annoyed of the endless walking around in circles. He smiled as he saw Hyrule, glancing around an old house. “What’s up?”

“Four and I saw Fluffy but now I can’t find him!” Hyrule spoke and Legend frowned, “You lost him?”

“I...guess?”

Legend began to laugh, “I knew he was small, but not that small!” He cackled, “Small enough to lose, huh?”

Hyrule scrunched his nose up at that and looked around, “Seriously, though, what if he got hurt trying to get inside? Or...or what if he fell through the floors!’

Legend blinked as his laughing quickly ceased, he didn’t think of that. He looked at Hyrule, “I mean...this house doesn’t look that old…” He replied and sighed, “How will we even get inside? It’s boarded up and to be honest, I don’t feel like being a wanted criminal again.”

“Again?”

“Long story.”

Hyrule frowned, “uh, okay..if you say so.”

“Let’s just say they don’t like it when you rescue the princess from a dungeon when an evil ruler takes over.”

“Uh...noted?”

Legend patted Hyrule’s shoulder and smiled, “Now, about getting inside…”

“I HATE CATS!” Blue screamed as he and Red ran, “Why us?! Why are we so stupid to go into a boarded up house, to save a stupid cat?!”

Red groaned, “Blue, you’re such a downer!” He cried, “We did it because Kiki asked and we wanna make her happy!”

“More like you wanted to!”

“Hmph! Learn to be nice!”

“Nice?! I AM NICE!”

“Enough!” Green yelled, “We’re trying to not get hurt here!”

“Sorry, Green..”

As the duo apologized, Green froze as he felt a sudden pull on his hood tassel. “Fluffy no!!!” He screamed, “Let go!”

The cat slowly lifted him up with her claw and Green began to kick and hit at her, “Bad kitty! BAD!”

Fluffy hissed as Green hit her nose and Red frowned, “Green, you’re scaring her!”

“I’m scaring her!?” He screamed in fear, “I hate cats!!”

Vio groaned, “Green, you’re supposed to be the leader!”

“NOT HELPING!”

“Fluffy!” Red cried, “please let Green go!” he threw his hands up at the cat, who began to play with Green.

Green yelped as his entire body began to shake from Fluffy toying with him. The cat purred as she began to paw at him. “STOP!” he yelped and Vio looked at the other two. “hmm…”

“Shouldn’t we help him?”

“Maybe. But so far...Fluffy doesn’t seem mean.”

Red nodded, “Maybe...she’s nice to Twilight’s minish?”

“Maybe...ah…” Vio gasped as he saw Green pull out his own Four Sword. “Green, wait!”

Green poked the tip of the sacred blade onto Fluffy’s toe, the cat yelped as she was poked and growled loudly at Green.

He gulped, “Oh...shit…” He froze and screamed loudly as Fluffy pounced on him. He yelped as Fluffy’s claw brushed against his cheek, “OH COME ON!” He cried, “ASSHOLE!”

The cat growled again and swatted at the Hylian. Green cried out as Fluffy clawed across his torso and he hit the ground, clutching his stomach. “I hate cats...I really do!”

“Green!” Red cried and Vio groaned, “Dammit...and to think things were going okay!”

Blue looked at Vio, “How do we save Green? Fluffy keeps circling him!”

“Hmmm..” Vio looked at them, “You two...lure Fluffy away. I’ll grab Green.”

“Uhhh….why do we have to do that?! I don’t want that dumb thing to hurt me too!” Blue spat and Red frowned, “Don’t worry about that! I won’t let Fluffy hurt us, Blue!”

“And how will--”

“Shush! Just follow me, Blue!” Red giggled and pulled his brother behind him. “Oh Fluffy~!” Red called as they ran in front of the cat. Fluffy turned to them and Vio watched as the duo lured the cat away.

“Green!” Vio called as he ran to his fallen brother, “Are you alright?”
“I hate...cats…” Green muttered and Vio snorted, “We know. But, let me see where you’re hurt.”

Green slowly peeled his arm away from his torso and Vio frowned as he saw the cut on the tunic, and the dark spots around it. “Fluffy isn’t so nice, eh? She really clawed you.”

“no shit!” Green snorted and Vio shook his head, “Maybe you shouldn’t have stabbed her toe.”

“is...it bad?”

“Looks not too deep but...we’ll need to heal you as soon as we can. Cat scratches can become infected easily.”

Green groaned at that, “And my poor tunic…!” He lamented, “it’ll have to be fixed!”

Vio shook his head, he was somewhat flabbergasted over Green caring more about his tunic than himself.

Hyrule looked down from the rafters, he had gotten inside by using his Fairy Spell, he didn’t know if Legend had gotten inside yet. He saw the pure white cat chasing something and frowned. That was odd, so he decided to slowly fly down towards the floor.

He blinked in confusion as he saw two small blonde haired creatures….Hylians...wait...Four!?

“Four!?”

“A-ah…!” A purple clad Four looked at Hyrule, he was standing next to a green clad Four, who was clutching his torso. “What….are you doing here?”

“trying to find you!”

“Oh…”

“Are you..Four?”

“uhhh….part of Four. I’m...Vio. That’s Green...he was the original Link...before uhh...we pulled the Four Sword. It’s a long story, Green needs help. Fluffy hurt him.”

“How...interesting?” Hyrule responded and looked around, “How did Fo—uh Green get hurt by her?”

“Ohhh, well he decided that poking Fluffy’s paw with his sword was a great idea.”

“Ah…”

Vio sighed as he looked at Hyrule, “So, you’re a fairy?”

“Uh...no, just magic.”

“Oh!”

“Excuse me! Can I get help?!” Green yelled and Hyrule blinked, “Oh, yes! Sorry about that…” He blushed and looked at Green, “Let me see it, I...have a life spell.”

“You do? Are you sure…you don’t just have a red potion?”

“Nope, I left my supply with Twilight.”

Green frowned and Hyrule crossed his arms, “Now, let me see your wound. Stop hiding it!”

Their leader groaned, “Yes, mom.” to which, Vio smacked the back of Green’s head, “HEY! I am wounded here, Vio!”

“Don’t be disrespectful, you’re lucky that you’re still breathing and talking!”

Green looked at Hyrule as he unfolded his arms and Hyrule frowned, “You’re bleeding.”

“It’s just a flesh wound.”

“You’re lucky.”

“Again, just a flesh wound!”

Legend blinked as he saw the white cat running after something. He had used his bracelet to get inside, he groaned as he walked over to Fluffy. Fluffy sat down and tilted her head. “So, there you are. What were you chasing?”

The cat meowed at the hero and Legend scoffed, “Dumb thing, now I’ll have to take you back and hope Hyrule found Four.”

He slowly picked the white animal up and shook his head as she purred. “Now…let’s see if I can take you with me the same way I got in.”

The Hero of Legend looked at the wall as he put his hand to it, he just hoped he’d see Four and Hyrule outside.

“Aww, Legend saved Fluffy!” Red giggled as he jumped up and down in pure excitement. He tugged on Blue’s arm, “Let’s go check on Green, Blue!”

“Okay, okay!” Blue grumbled as Red swung their arms, “I still hate cats.”

“You’ll love them eventually!” Red sang and Blue rolled his eyes as Red skipped ahead of him.

“Green!” Red called, “Legend somehow came in through the wall and then found Fluffy!”

Hyrule looked up, “Who are—oh, I assume...Red and Blue?”

“How did you know?!” Blue gasped and Hyrule shook his head, “Vio told me, he explained it.”

Blue groaned as he rubbed his forehead, “Okay...so, is Green okay?”

The brunette looked up, “I was about to start healing him actually. You just interrupted me.” He winked and Blue crossed his arms, “Well, hurry up! If he dies…!”

“Did Fluffy hurt him badly?!” Red cried and Hyrule frowned as Red began to wail, “No, no...he’s okay!” Hyrule gasped, “It’s okay!”

Red wiped his big amber eyes and sniffed, “R-really?”

“Yes.” Hyrule smiled, “So, you said Legend saved Fluffy?”

“uh-huh!”

“How interesting…” Hyrule mused as he turned to walk back to Green, “let’s hurry.”

“Please.”

Hyrule led the duo back to the other two and Green waved, “hey…”

Hyrule bent down in front of Green and Green slowly took his arms off his torso. “Sorry…” He muttered and Hyrule felt it gently, “Wow, you’re really lucky that she just grazed you.”

“I told you…I don’t think you need to heal me.”

“No, I’m going to. We don’t want to risk it.”

“Fine…”

Vio looked down at Green, who was sitting on the ground, Hyrule had just finished healing his wounds. Green was messing with the torn sections of his tunic.

“You’re supposed to lead us...but yet, you did the stupidest thing.”

“I’m sorry…” Green frowned and Vio sighed, “You worried us.” He sat next to Green, “I’m just glad you’re okay…”

Green snorted at that “A stupid cat isn’t going to get me that easily!” Then he sighed as Hyrule looked at him, “On my first adventure, I had so many cats attack me! The little stupid things…!"

Hyrule blinked, “So, that’s why when you’re whole you’re afraid of cats?”

“Yes!”

“I like cats.” Red grinned, “they’re so cute!”

Blue rolled his eyes, “We need to merge back and go meet up with Legend. That kid is waiting.”

“Yeah.”

Vio smiled, “See you guys soon!”

Red waved and Blue nodded as they all pulled their swords out and touched them together.

Hyrule closed his eyes as a bright light filled the area and there stood Four. He smiled at Hyrule, his eyes a mix of each color of his tunic. “Thank you.”

“Anytime.”

“There you are!” Legend called and looked at Four, “I take it you got inside the house no problem since you’re so tiny.”

“Hey!”

“Anyway,” Legend smirked, “let’s get ole’ Fluffy back to her owner.”

“Didn’t know you were a cat lover.” Four teased and Legend frowned “I’ll have you know, Fable has a cat exactly like this!”

“Does she?”

“Yes, and I quite like that cat. Want to know why?”

“Yes, why?”

“Unlike you, he’s quiet and lazy.”

“Hey!”

“You’re like a puppy, Four. You’re small and threaten to break kneecaps.”

“Do...puppies break kneecaps?” Hyrule questioned and Legend shook his head, “Nope, some could tear your feet off if they wanted.”

“Sounds deadly...and people keep these creatures as pets?”

“Yep!”
“Interesting.”

“FLUFFY!!” Kiki screamed as she ran past Wild, who looked past her, “oh!”

Kiki giggled as Legend handed her back, her pure white cat. “I missed you so much!” She laughed and hugged Fluffy tightly to her face.

Fluffy meowed and Legend looked over at Four who was talking with Wild.

“What did you guys make?” Hyrule asked and Wild smiled, “Some baked apples and crepes!”

“Sounds great.” Four smiled, “It smells great too.”

"Wonderful! Kiki is a great cook and helper!”

Kiki smiled and looked up as Twilight and the others walked over. “Link, lookie! They found Fluffy!”

Twilight smiled as he rubbed Kiki’s dirty-blonde locks, “That’s great news.”

Kiki giggled as she put Fluffy down, who slowly walked over to Four and sniffed his boots.

Four flinched slightly but swallowed hard. He watched as Fluffy rubbed her face on his legs. The cat purred and Four slowly picked her up. Legend looked and smirked, “Not so scared of cats now, are we?”

“Only sometimes…” Four replied, “now...can we finally get to eating?!”

“yeah!” Wind called as he hung off Time’s arm, “I’m hungry!”

Wild grinned, “Let’s eat and celebrate Fluffy’s return!”

“Yeah!” Kiki giggled and Four looked up as they followed Wild...maybe...cats weren’t too bad…

Okay...maybe they were still on thin ice...yeah, that sounded right for Four.

Bonus!

“Greennnn, I never got to pet Fluffy!!” Red gasped and Four groaned, he had forgotten about that…

“Okay okay…” Green replied and Wind looked over as Four grabbed his sword, “Something wrong?” the youngest hero asked and Four raised his blade.

“AH!” Wind cried out as Four turned into four others. “HOW?! Can I do that?!”

“FLUFFY!!” Red giggled and ran over to the cat. Kiki giggled as Red scooped her up and cuddled the pure white cat.

Vio sighed and Blue groaned, “Great job.”

Green shrugged, “Eh, Four promised him! So, we had to!”

“I guess?”

Time looked over and smiled softly as he waved. “Hello, you four.”

“You knew,” Wind gasped, “And you didn’t tell us?!”

Time laughed and Twilight raised an eyebrow as Wild nodded. “Nice.”

“OH NO! You get that stupid cat away from me, Red!” Blue yelled and Red giggled, “But, Blue!!”

Vio pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed, as Green shook his head as he took a seat next to Warriors. “I swear…”

Warriors smirked, “So, why don’t you see Fluffy?”

“eh...we have...a past…”

“Oh…”

Legend blinked and Hyrule grinned at them. Sky looked up from his woodcarving and raised an eyebrow, “How interesting…” He muttered, “Hylia works in mysterious ways.”

"NO! GET AWAY, RED!"

"LOVE HER, BLUE!!"

Vio groaned, "Children..."

"Eh, they are us, Vio." Green smiled as he sat back, letting the sun hit his face. He sighed as he began to relax, things were all okay.
