Work Text:
Jungwon would never have done this under normal circumstances, but the situation had been anything but normal.
At least, for him.
They were at a party, celebrating Jungwon’s twenty-first birthday. All the members had encouraged him to drink together with them, and of course, he couldn’t deny. He had had enough of watching the others all enjoy and discuss different alcohol types while he, Sunoo, and Riki could barely even touch it.
He felt a twinge of remorse for the youngest member, glancing at him occasionally with his fruit juice in hand. He seemed to be having fun, though, so he didn’t bring it up.
“Your birthday is almost coming to end, Jungwonnie,” Heeseung mentioned, tousling the younger’s hair as he pointed at the clock, a bottle of beer in his other hand.
The male was right, as it was five minutes before the clock struck twelve.
“Well, five more minutes then, Love. Go enjoy them.”
The male lifted his gaze at the nickname, knowing who had said it already. Sunghoon had developed a habit of using pet names over the years, ever so often, but it was just for Jungwon. He never called Sunoo or Riki “Love” or “Darling.” Just him. It made him feel special, in a way, and he felt important to someone every time the older boy would say something like that.
“I will, Hyung,” the younger grinned, clinking their glasses together and taking another sip of his drink.
He had to admit, it tasted…bitter. The other members had warned him it would be, but after a few shots, he would get used to the taste and savor it. And he did.
At first, the boy had spit out the liquid immediately, coughing while the others laughed at him. Sunghoon had held his glass while he hacked, and encouraged him to keep drinking it to get used to the taste. So he obeyed because there was something about Sunghoon, something that always kept him on the edge of his seat. He was always unnecessarily excited whenever the elder would converse with him, the butterflies hammering against his chest.
It was stupid, he knew. But he couldn’t help it. There was just something about him. Maybe it was his eyes or the way he moved ever so gracefully. Maybe it was the way he carried himself, always full of confidence and pride. Maybe it was the dumb nicknames he always addressed him by. Him , and no one else. As if he was the most important to him.
Shut up, Jungwon. Your job is to take care of everyone, not dawdle in your stupid problems .
He shook himself out of his daze, glancing at the clock once more. Two more minutes. The boy turned to see a certain male staring his way, his expression eager. The butterflies immediately shot up in his body as their eyes met briefly, so he broke eye contact just as quickly as it had started. He couldn’t keep doing this .
But why was he staring at him so eagerly? Was it eagerness, or was Jungwon just imagining things?
“Hey, Darling? I want to show you something once the clock strikes twelve . You need to come with me, okay?”
Sunghoon had walked over, raising his hand and touching the younger’s face, running his thumb across his cheekbone. His tone wasn’t commanding, rather soft and hopeful.
“H-Huh? Oh, yeah. I’ll come with you.”
He had to stop stuttering like an idiot in front of him. Oh, but the things Sunghoon did to him. The flirtatious touches were enough to send him over the moon.
“Good boy.”
The words hung in the air, the elder’s hands moving to grasp his waist, tugging him closer to his body. Jungwon panicked. He could not handle that at the moment. Did Sunghoon not realize the effect he had on him?
No, he knew exactly what he was doing. The knowing smirk on his face said it all as he leaned his chin on Jungwon’s head, resting.
The others never questioned them, they had gotten used to it over the years. But Jungwon hadn’t. Each time Sunghoon did something to him it took him by surprise. So much so that the members still teased him, the shock probably visible on his face.
Jungwon was almost sure that they had placed bets on when the two would get together. He forgot who bet on his birthday. They were wrong-
Or not.
Sunghoon removed himself from the younger, before cupping his face with his hands and quickly leaning downwards and capturing his lips by surprise, just as the clock struck midnight.
Jungwon gasped, not expecting the sudden change. He stood frozen, needing time to process the fact that Sunghoon was kissing him.
The elder pulled away, sensing the other not responding. “Do you not like it, Love? I’m sorry, I know it was sudden-“
“OH MY GOD I KNEW IT WOULD HAPPEN TODAY-” a voice yelled, quickly cut off by the sound of a slap across the mouth.
“Riki, shut up! Let them have their moment!”
“Kiss me again.”
There was silence, and the younger realized what he had just blurted without thought. That wasn’t like him.
“Your wish is my command, Baby.”
Sunghoon tangled their hands, forcing him to follow him to his room. The boy followed him silently, not believing what had just happened. Sunghoon had kissed him. On his birthday, at least he thought it was. Whoever had placed that bet had won.
The elder pushed him inside, following suit and clicking the lock, so they were alone. Just the two of them. In his bedroom. At midnight. How could this possibly go?
And from every night since then, once the clock struck twelve, they would do it all again, until dawn. Their love for one another spilled out and their desire was fulfilled.
Maybe Jungwon could get used to this.
