Colour of your eyes: paints my world

Summary:

In a world where you can't see in the colour of your soulmate's eye, how frustrated would you be to live on a planet which has no other colour?

Basically, my brain went: heh, suckers, give them a happy ending.

Notes:

This is the shortest thing I have written in years now! I couldn't believe it myself. Enjoy :D

Work Text:

Boba found it annoying when he lived on a planet that was surrounded by water and all shades of greys. But when he asked his father why wore such a dull colour, not even decorating his armour, he was told that they were actually living on a planet which was Blue!, and his father also wore that colour, plus his armour was decorated with blue. Jango then admitted that it was his fault that he didn’t think of telling him about soulmates.

After that Boba didn’t really think about a colour he couldn’t see. He mostly stuck to wearing whatever they had, be it grey, blue, or any other colour. After the death of his father, when he became a famous bounty hunter of his own regard, he chose colours that expressed him and could actually differentiate from each other. His blue-eyed soulmate stayed out of his sight and with that, also out of his mind most of the time. Exceptions were the times when someone wanted his opinion about something they showed him, and he could only see greys instead of the apparently blue patterns. He chose to stay silent those times, however irritating the other person found it.

Then he found his soulmate and his thoughts were only about how beautiful his eyes were, and what he needed to do to deserve such a radiant person in his life.

Luke was confused at first by the idea of why they lived surrounded by greyness. It was after Aunt Beru explained the notion of soulmates that he found out that Tatooine was actually not dull grey, but a dull brown, more specifically sand coloured. Because they were surrounded by sand. But that was just specifics, any and all shades and hues of brown would be seen as grey.

It was actually frustrating Luke, who knew nothing but sand in his life, where people always wore shades of browns and whites and greys. It was visually not very, well, interesting to say the least. Luke could have sworn he would go insane in such a monochrome world if it weren’t for the celebrations where he could see some colours.

It was at one such celebration, after his 18th birthday, when he accidentally ran into a wall and ended up on his ass in the sand. Well, after opening his eyes he had to see that it was not actually a wall, but a man standing in green beskar armour. The famous bounty hunter of Tatooine, Boba Fett.

However, it was a mystery to Luke why the man would be out around the ordinary people rather than with the high-end rich ones he usually spent his time with. Well, was rumoured to spend his time with, anyway, Luke wasn’t well informed about those things, or anything really, just gossip that his friends told him, that they too usually heard from someone else.

But what stole his breath away was the sight that greeted him when he looked up. The man wasn’t wearing his helmet, it was still within easily reachable distance, not hiding his face.

“Oh,” was the intelligent thing that Luke uttered when he looked into brown eyes. The first of any brown that he would see. But Luke didn’t care about any other brown at the moment, the only shade existed in Boba Fett’s eyes.

Luke was ready to swoon – and he thanked his luck that he was already on his ass, so his knees couldn’t give out under him – which was embarrassing. He was already an adult, ready to leave the planet anytime he could finally get away from the farm. And his soulmate happened to be the most famous bounty hunter of the galaxy. He only just looked into his eyes and yet he was ready to fly away to spend some time with him and get to know him. Not just the reputation but the man behind all that beskar armour.

“Oh, indeed,” came the voice of Fett, which clearly held a pleased undertone. Luke could feel himself smile at that. His existence and their meeting pleased his soulmate. Which he theoretically knew would happen but didn’t know. He took the offered hand and didn’t let go, even after he was standing steadily on the sand. Which startled a chuckle from the older man. And wasn’t that a pleasant sound! He wanted to hear more of his happy sounds. And he had the opportunity to do so. He looked forward to the life before them.
