Work Text:

Alex was freakin’ out. He was tryin’ not to freak out, but no matter what he tried, he was still freakin’ out. He was freakin’ the fuck out and he was tryin’ not to freak the fuck out but it wasn’t workin’ and no one was helpin’ him!

He was freakin’ the fuck out, no one was helpin’ him, and he was clearly havin’ a crisis!

“None ‘a this is helpin’!” Alex growled, ‘cause he was a man and he was frustrated. He definitely was not whinin’.

“It would be helpful if you actually listened to our advice,” Raven told him from the inside of his closet, her bare arms crossed in front ‘a her basically bare chest as she stared back at him lookin’ real unimpressed.

She was blue a lot these days, and over the last few weeks, she’d started wearin’ less and less clothin’. Alex was doin’ his best not to judge, since it wasn’t like he knew what it was like havin’ a second skin that you didn’t always feel comfortable in. He knew she was just tryin’ to figure out how she felt comfortable, so Alex didn’t say nothin’ and tried to be real respectful and let her do her thing.

“You look good, sugar,” Angel added into the silence. Alex wasn’t sure he believed her, since she was lyin’ on his bed and starin’ at the ceilin’.

Alex frowned. There was a big ass mirror ‘gainst his wall that Hank’d hauled in ‘fore he went back down to his lab, which had been pretty nice of him. Alex could see his entire figure in it, but he wasn’t too sure that was a good thing. It might’ve been a good thing if he didn’t feel like a fuckin’ idiot in the ridiculous ass outfit he was wearin’.

“I look fuckin’ stupid,” Alex grumbled, knowin’ he was soundin’ annoyin’. But it wasn’t his fault! He did look fuckin’ stupid.

The pants he was wearin’ were tight as fuck. Alex wasn’t even sure they were good for his balls, since they felt real fuckin’ squished. Sure, Alex has seen some guys wearin’ tighter pants the last few times he’d gone out to town, but these felt real tight. They were black, which was good ‘cause Alex wasn’t a real colourful guy, but despite what he wanted, his shirt was not black.

No. No, the shirt that Raven had forced him into was red. It was a dark red, which was kinda better, but it was still real fuckin’ red, and it was real fuckin’ stiff.

“No, you don’t!” Raven protested. She sounded like she meant it, but Alex wasn’t real sure he believed her.

He took another look at his reflection.

He didn’t. “Are you serious? I look like a clown!”

“Dude… I’m straight as a board, but even I’d take a second look at you in those pants,” Sean said from the armchair in the corner of Alex’s room.

Alex had no idea what the fuck he was supposed to say to that, so he said nothin’ and frowned at his reflection.

Sure, he didn’t look bad, but he wasn’t sure he looked good, either. He was used to wearin’ clothin’ for comfort, and as long as it felt more comfortable than prison scrubs, he didn’t care ‘bout how it looked. Or he hadn’t cared, till Armando came back from the dead and kissed him in front ‘a everyone.

Now that they were officially together or some shit, Alex figured he should look nice. Since Armando was takin’ him out dancin’ tonight and Alex hadn’t been out dancin’ ever, he’d asked Angel for help with gettin’ ready.

Angel had invited Raven, who’d invited Sean, and somehow that had led to the three ‘a ‘em at the mall, tryin’ to find Alex an outfit they all agreed on.

Now the three ‘of ‘em were in his room, watchin’ his reflection, and makin’ him look like a fuckin’ clown.

Angel rose from his bed like a fuckin’ deity or some shit, lookin’ all poised and refined and like she had even stronger core strength than him, and stopped directly in front of him. She was gorgeous, which she knew, and Alex kinda wished he could be as confident as she was.

“You don’t look like an idiot,” she told him. Then, she started doin’ something with his hair as Alex frowned down at her. “I know the high collar isn’t what you like, but it is handsome.”

“Are you sure?” he asked her quietly.

Angel was his favourite. She got what it was like to have so much anger under your skin that it burned outta ya. Now, she did somethin’ with the piece ‘a hair that always fell in front of his eyes ‘fore she took a step back.

“There ya go, sugar,” she murmured, her voice soft. “You look handsome. Stop thinkin’ otherwise.”

Alex was openin’ his mouth to answer when she started to giggle.

“Am I interrupting something?” Armando called out. When Alex spun around, he was leanin’ against the doorway, handsome as hell, and smilin’ at him in a way that tripped his heart right up.

“‘Mando,” he breathed, more than a little tongue-tied and a lot overwhelmed at the sigh before him.

Armando looked gorgeous tonight. He always looked gorgeous, seein’ as how he was the hottest man that he’d ever seen, and he’d looked even more beautiful ever since he came back to life. His skin was dark, lookin’ even darker in the shiny shirt he was wearin’ which seemed to fuckin’ glow like the night sky. It was open halfway, showin’ off his smooth, muscled chest in a way that was indecent and made Alex’s brain feel real, real empty.

His dark pants made his legs look like they were goin’ on forever, and Alex spent a good few minutes in silence, starin’ at ‘em and imagin’ them wrapped around him.

Then Armando cleared his throat, and crossed the room in a few long strides.

At some point the others must have left, ‘cause by the time Armando was in front ‘a him and his cool hands were restin’ on Alex’s hips and tuggin’ him in close, they were alone. Alex had no memory of that happenin’ since all ‘a his attention was focused on Armando, and he saw nothin’ else, not with the way Armando was his entire focus.

“Hi,” Alex whispered shyly, smiling up at Armando with what he knew was a silly, smitten fuckin’ smile.

“Holy hell, baby,” Armando breathed, his all-white eyes wide and shinin’ in the low light of the room. “Holy hell, you look gorgeous tonight.”

Alex did not blush, ‘cause he was too cool for that. Still, his face felt real, real warm. “Thanks, ‘Mando,” he whispered, feelin’ overwhelmed at how close they were and how Armando was smilin’ down at him. “You look handsome too.”

“Yeah? Erik thought the open shirt was a good look,” Armando told him with a teasin’ smile that somehow made him look even more handsome.

Fuck, he was so lucky.

But…

Alex scrunched up his nose. “Erik helped you get ready?”

“Sure did.” Armando smiled at him, and Alex knew he’d die happy if that smile was the last thing he ever saw. “Charles is the one who told me about this place.”

“Erik’s like… my dad,” Alex said, grimacin’ a little at the thought of Erik helpin’ his boyfriend get ready. “Isn’t that weird?”

“It’d be weirder if he wasn't also one ‘a my best friends, baby,” Armando told him, which was fair.

They’d all become a type ‘a family since Cuba, since Armando showed up alive and brought ‘em all together. Emma, Azazel and Janos visited here and there, and even if they weren't livin’ at the mansion no more, they were still welcome whenever they popped in. The rest of ‘em were close in a way that Alex hadn’t ever been close with no one, and sometimes it took his breath away, seein’ the family he was buildin’ around him.

Then, before Alex could keep thinkin’, Armando leaned in and kissed him.

Kissin’ Armando always felt like the first time but so much better, ‘cause there wasn’t no fear makin’ Alex’s heart race. They weren’t tucked away somewhere hidden, they weren’t joinin’ a battle they knew nothin’ about ‘cause they had nothin’ else; now, they kissed in their home, a home that was filled with their family, and they kissed for however long they wanted.

Now, Armando kissed him and kissed him. Alex let himself get lost in it, kissin’ back and draggin’ on the press ‘a their lips for longer and longer ‘cause it felt so good.

When his lungs started to ache, he pulled back enough to take a breath but kept pressed close.

“Are we goin’ dancin’?” Alex whispered, lettin’ their lips brush together.

“Soon,” Armando whispered, his hand slidin’ ‘round to the small ‘a Alex’s back to hold him tight. “Lemme just kiss ya some more first.”

“You can kiss me forever, ‘Mando,” Alex whispered, pressin’ closer.

Armando smiled, somethin’ that Alex felt down into his toes, and then he did.
