Chapter Text
" Farewell Kathryne! " The man with dark blue hair waves off at the women behind the counter of the adventure guilds. Waving off her regards towards him before anyone comes by, bidding her greetings.
Ah, finally. Raising his arms to the air, muscles stretching from being to stiff. Oh~ yeah, that was nice. The cold fresh air surrounds every bit and cranny of Mondstadt. But not enough to make you shiver. The air was tamed tonight, only at times leaving a small, refreshing breeze as a tease. The mummer's became contagious while the stars danced, twinkles in the night.
After a faint smile that refused to leave his face. Work has been troublesome but something about today was a breathe of fresh air. His foot hits the stone ground while passing a corner, taking an every day golden coin. Flicking it in the air with a clink from the tip of his gloved finger. That's a good one! Spinning in the air and back to his thumb to fly in the air once more.
He's should make Klee's breakfast once he visits her after solitary confinement. I told her not to obliviate the pond close to Springvale. May the fishes rest in peace. Catching the golden coin of Mora into his hands with an ' Oh. ' Bennet going to his quest with Razor tomorrow morning.
The smile tugged his cheek at the memory of how eager the child was when spending time with someone who's willing to come along despite his history of his malfortune.
He'll have to give a full report on the increase of treasure hoarder's recently. That has been taking care off by the knight's, the outrider, the dark night hero and of course. Himself. What are those scoundrel's trying to get? Compare to Liyue-- well. It's Liyue. Not saying Mond isn't any better-- its just that. It's Liyue. You know?....Anyway.
Speaking of the Outrider!? He's supposed to meet her at the entrance soon enough for an investigation on the perimeter of Mond's gates and other surrounding area's. Plus taking care of hilichurls infestation while we're at it.
It has been no relaxing week, so far. But the weekends is the weekend and in the last few hours of this eventful Sunday. He'd love to take a glass of Death Afternoon right now. Going down the stone stairs, waving at a stranger who happily waved back a bit to enthusiasm with their friends.
Unable to contain the little chuckle that burst out, lifting his hand to his lips. Huh? Raising his head when he heard a similar voice caught his ears though muffled from the distance. He recognized it immediately, how could he not?
His smile faltered with a women with a thin black robe that looked a little bit gray from where the strong moonlight reflects from, hoodie already fallen still in her maid outfit. It looks-- dirty? As if the tips of her skirt was dipped in mud. Taking a hesitant step forward. Even with the muffled voice, he can hear a powerful distress from here. Waving her hands frantically to her chest in a quick motion while the guards is trying to calm her down.
Placing a hand on his chest. The smile plastered back on his face with a strong inhale of oxygen in his lungs. It'll be alright. The thought of leaving without being recognized came to mind but he though against it. " Caption Kaeya!! " Cause the person he was supposed to meet up waved frantically at him at the other side with a bright smile. With that, the two snapped they're heads in his directions. Oh, how great.
Gulping down the access saliva, sighing while casting his head down. There's really no point of escaping now. No harm done. But what is she doing over here? I don't see a carriage anywhere. Did she walk then? Maybe that's why her dress is dirty? Though the urgency couldn't be brushed off in her voice. Knowing her well and to break her calm demeanor in front of other's like that isn't something to take likely.
" Adelinde!? How ar- " Being quicker then she was, meeting her more then half way when he broke into a fast jog. " Quickly! Master Diluc is in danger! " Tugging his arm just as fast as she turned around. What-!? Raising an eyebrow while we passed the Mond's gates, the pigeon's flapped their wings. Speeding up the paste at Adelinde's dire tone of voice, " Adelinde-! What's going on-!? " But we quickly broke into a run.
Ignoring Amber's calls beside them as we ran towards the direction of Dawn's winery. " hey- GUYS!! What are you--!!? " Chasing right after us with a ruffle, going beside us without a sweat from all the running she's always been doing as of late.
" What's the situation, Adelinde! " The grass flattened underneath our steps. " These two stranger's came to the manor and they starter to-- shit!! " Tightening her lips, starting to pant a little heavier with an exaggerated gasp, unable to hid the tears welling up in her eyes.
Capturing Adelinde's expression with every little movement suddenly slowed for just a few second with a chilly breathe in though his nose. He's never ever heard Adelinde sound quite like that before. What did Diluc get himself into--!?!
" We got no time! Diluc is---!!? "
A heavy sound came echoed in our ear's as if it were the anguished cry of The Seven. Stealing the air from our lungs at the sight of a vibrant orange explosion with black at the surface, flourishing to the directed place they needed to go.
The blood pounded in his ears, not even feeling his legs bolting though the tall grass or even if the other's followed behind him. His vision tunneled forward with no brakes. No, you're jumping to conclusions, Kaeya. He has a pyro vision. Right?
But that's exactly it. Pryo visions makes flames. Not explosions. ( Unless you're Klee ) The tamed air became sharp in his lungs, whacking a branch out of his way.
Unless' there's some sort of conductivity. His heart pounded in his chest was the only thing he could hear. The shallow thoughts wailed with trepidations.
No..... no--
There was something in him that the explosion that was getting closer and larger by the second was not Dawn's winery. It couldn't be.
His fears being brought to a horrific reality and he had to fight the urge to vomit once he activated his glider. Hopefully the others followed behind though he couldn't seem to care.
Flames rise into the night as if they were challenging Celestia itself to stop their consumption of what was a place they both called home, a place of sanctuary. That is now Diluc's home. The house Diluc is in. Yet fire is impatient and The Seven breathe eons. Taking the wood to fuel their cries. Black, crude fumes dances in the night, turning everything around it boisterously.
No.....
Contemplating in front of the flames, burning with passion.
Dil...uc?
The ashes left a mocking kiss on his cheek. Snickering behind his back as it floats like dust.
You can't- you cannot die before me--
" DILUC!! " Adelinde's frangible scream broke his gaze from the flames. Moving his foot that was stuck to the ground. Dashing into the burning front door. Placing an arm above his forehead, narrowing his eye while shouting is own set's of cries.
" DILUC!! WHERE ARE YOU!! " Everything was too slow and the flames were too fast. The only think that answered were the creaking sounds of breaking wood.
Swallowing down the bile that raised up in his throat, hiding a yelp. Now's not the time!! Now's not-- the TIME!! Manifesting his cyro vision powers around him like an extra skin. " DILUC, PLEASE!! ANSWER ME!! "
Looking around at the flames that were in certain places, starting to get bigger and bigger from being set free. Compare to the explosion they've seen. The mansion should have already been engulfed with flames, so why did the flame were only located in a few places inside--? There were also places that looked damp though quickly evaporating. Which turned into fumes.
The red, orange and yellow colours reflected on his face, his eye didn't know what to look at anymore except to frantically call out the red head's name. Unintentionally placing a hand on his mouth with the uncontrollable coughs that escaped him.
Amber's screams snapped his head to the entrance, running out as fast as he came " KAEYA!! I FOUND MASTER DILUC!! " Ignoring the flames that tickled his cheek and clothes when leaping pass the entrance.
" WHERE!!? " Answering back, seeing the panting outrider at the side of the mansion, looking just as frantic as Adelinde, following the direction she was pointing at when dashing forward, disappearing at the corner of the mansion.
Without taking another breathe, side stepping to where Amber once was, raising my head to see the two running far in the distance-- to what looks like a wagon. But that's not what he was paying attention too. Even though it was quite a distance to see. A pit entered his stomached.
The red hair was vibrant even at night however what he saw brought a harsh flush through-out his body. Unconsciously being blatant, heaved inside the so-called wagon by two stranger's he's never seen before, looking greatly slovenly. Clearly tell [ and not just looking at the burning mansion to his side ] that he put up an intensive fight.
But the unconscious man didn't look less messy as the other's though unable to clearly see from the distance and the stranger blocking his view. Lunging to they're direction without a moment of hesitation. A repetition of words scared his mind: How dare they.
His palms were covered with sweat but that didn't make the blade in his hands slip away, in fact it made it tighter, deadlier. How dare they. He wasn't sure what he was feeling, but he knew whatever it was wasn't in control. The kidnapper's had disappeared behind the curtains of the wagon, already starting to departure.
Amber has taken out her bow, firing at the wheel of the wagon before going any further. Slanting at the side as one of the stranger's with short, blush-pink colour hair came out of the curtain's summoned water out of the blue, turning their hair more lavender whilst flames dwindled. A Hydro user. Now seeing their bright blue vision on their hip. If it was a different situation he would praise the outrider but his mouth was tapped shut.
Eyes of frustration caught them, turning panic-stricken. Able to hear the girl's words from here with panic: " BACK-UP IS HERE!! " Another voice accompanied them with a shout. Amber changed footing, striking her fire arrow's in the air that created multiple. Before charging forward, saying something to Adelinde.
The kidnapper with the hydro vision summoned two blades, stabbing into the ground before Amber can shoot another arrow. " Blinding tragedy! " Quite a deep voice for a girl, the ground rapidly turning into a flood that covered the area around her except the wagon. Amber shriek, " Adelinde! Get out the water-! " Shouting fearsomely before going on one knee in displeasure.
The girl grinned slowly turned morbid when her breathe turned visibly white. Water turned into ice in an instant beneath her, cursing under their breath. Lifting their head with gritted teeth. Serves you right.
Now that's a face he doesn't mind seeing on them. The look of pure hell-stuck. Breathing out from his mouth, his blade to his side whilst his cyro vision glowed brighter then the moonlight that cast on them this faithful day.
If it was anything different he would be the one calling for caution, to call Amber to be patience as we are in the line of fire. We're severely placed in an disadvantage. He should be the one making a plan.
But right now he couldn't think past the buzzing in his ears, as if he was filled with cotton. Capturing the person in front of him was nothing more then a death flag. He saw red as one of them had a mild burned mark on their cheek, getting up close to their ear.
Quite a vintage get-up with a white, shirt poet's outfit, plum up sleeves and horse riding type trousers. The open gash underneath their clothes revealed slight burn marks from what he can see in spite of that, their clothes hasn't had a single trace of burnt or indicating they were just in a burning mansion.
" The audacity of doing this in front of me "
Lunging forwards, a sharp exhale was heard from the kidnapper with frozen feet. A high-pitched noise followed with a clang. Long hair slicked to the side, hair colour looks like a dirty silver coin. Finally meeting with the other mystery kidnapper face to face.
Their narrow deep purple eyes narrowed when getting pushed back. Seeing all kinds of cuts that has yet to be healed from their face. Taking a step forward, peripheral vision catching a purple glow on their wrist. Shi-
Side stepping almost instantly as the wind blew strongly from the front, almost as if daring to go further. Dragging the ember's of the burning mansion like snow over our heads, turning the air thicker then it supposed to be. They're hair whisking at the gust of wind forward, feet remained unmoved. Her clothes are in the same condition as the other. Unable to do the teleporting trick with the wagon in the way, but from the little gap I might be able to do so if the wind is strong enough to open the curtains.
If only he was close enough.
But even getting in will put not only me but Diluc in danger. Already in a bad condition but there is a possibility of wanting him alive but he can't just dismiss the fact that he might not be right.
He can almost taste the thick texture of ashes infecting the air, swallowing nothing but hot air. Dammit-! Diluc. It would be a massive help if you'd wake up and do what you always do. And that's beating the shit out of everyone!
If he goes in front and rides the wagon, they'll surely catch up. Argh, but there could be more other then the stupid red-headed man inside? The two whispered to each other without breaking eye contact.
He couldn't leave Amber and Adelinde to fend for themselves. If he did would they take both of them? " Captain" Amber's whisper quivered, hearing her footsteps creeping up on him. " What's wrong? " Tilting his head slightly back but eye still focused off the kidnappers who looked ready to strike once again." I can't fin- "
" HIYAA!!! " The wagon suddenly bolting forward by the horses. Kidnappers snapping their heads back at the sudden uproar " THAT WOMEN-!!!? "
A keen tug on one side of his lips. Oh, I am never going to hesitate to walk up to you again. The two became frantic turning their heads to meet straight with a blade " COVER ME! "
The one in silver shouted, running towards their wagon as the other kidnapper with blush-pink hair, her blade holding him still. " You'll regret this, " Eye wide, leaning forward straight in their dirty blonde eyes. The kidnapper visibly gulped, furrowing their eyebrows with quivering lips though didn't stop the grin from forming. " You think? " Voice trembled at the start. Becoming more sardonic "Na, I don't think so "
The other didn't waste any time. Torso straightened up as they pasted forward, with the shoulders a lined with their hips. Finger tips on their large silver claymore with lightening starting to engulf the blade with fury.
OH NO, THAT'S NOT GOOD-- " ADELINDE, GET OFF!! " But he was to late. Electro vison infused with their blade had already left her finger tips quicker then the words he shouted. He could only push the other to the side before it went in-between the wheels of the wagon, aggressively swaying in the grass.
BAM~
What the hell is going on!?!
At that every instant there was a teal smoke that shot up in the sky like a signal.
