Chapter Text

Even though it’s been over 750 years. They can still remember the daycare. They remember how the children would play and can even remember each child individually. They remembered sneaking out of the daycare after closing to watching the glam rocks playing late night shows from afar. They remember when they and Monty would play golf, or when Chica would bake pizza with them. They remember how Freddy would help him calm down when the children were too overwhelming, or when Roxy would teach them how to be confident. But the one thing they wish they could forget is when It was all ripped away from them in an instant.

It was a normal day like any other. The pizza plex was packed as usual and you could hear laughter and excitement echoing through the building. Sun was in the daycare checking kids in and getting ready to start the daily activities. Sun warmly greeted everyone and guided them into the daycare. The children were as energetic and excited as ever to spend the day with Sun, but the adults have been seeming off lately.

They seemed to be trying not to discuss it around the children so Sun tried not to pay it any mind, but eventually his curiosity got the best of him. The day seemed to go by a lot slower today but when it came time for closing, Sun managed to slip out of the daycare and try to get anything useful from people leaving the building for the day. He saw two megaplex employees heading out together.

He stayed behind and out of sight but just close enough to make out what they were saying. “We need to get the preparations for the glam rocks done tonight, if we don’t we’ll have no choice but to leave them here.” One of them grumbled. The other one nodded,”The sooner we get it done the better. Have you already prepared to leave for good?” the first one nodded. They were still talking but Sun wasn’t listening anymore.

Why do they need to take the glam rocks away? Where are they going?

Sun wondered. He decided the best thing to do is talk with Freddy and the others to find more answers. Sun headed over to parts and service.

If they are preparing the glam rocks for something they must be in parts and service.

But when Sun arrived, there was no sign of anyone. He checked the band members' rooms but they were empty as well. Sun started panicking. Where was everyone? Why didn’t they tell him about anything?! He started to pick up the pace until he was running. There weren't even any staff bots out, but that had never happened before. Sun suddenly snapped to a halt,

”WAIT! The radio system! I can just listen in and find out what’s going on and where everyone went!”

Sun exclaimed. He rushed to the closest security office and snatched a walkie talkie. He fumbled with it in his hands, turning it on with a click. Sun listened desperately for a voice, a sound, anything, but he was only left with static. Filled with grief, he gently set the walkie talkie on the desk and started to walk out of the room when suddenly,

“Hello? Hello? Uh , I Just wanted to check in and see if we’re ready to start,” A man's voice spoke.

Sun whipped around and scrambled back to the desk, snatching the radio back into his hands. There was a moment of silence…

”Yes, we are about to ignite the building, is everyone out of range?”

If Sun had a heart, he would have felt it drop.”Yes we are all here, you’re all good to start” someone responded in an almost cheary tone. “no no No NO NO NO! I’M STILL HERE! PLEASE STOP STOP STOP STOPSTOPSTOPSTOPSTOP!!!” Sun shrieked at the walkie talkie, but they didn’t hear him.

(Sun doesn’t know he needs to hold the button to make a transmission ;-;)

“Ok, we are starting to ignite at 5…”

Sun grabbed the walkie talkie and bolted out the door.

“...4…”

He sprinted towards the main exit.

“...3…”

He starts to reach the door but it’s bolted shut. He looks around frantically and spots a metal pole. He dropped the radio and grabbed it.

“...2…”

He started striking the door, then stabbed the door frame, trying to pry it open.

“...1…”

Sun got the door to bend just enough for him to try and slip through. He tries to squeeze through but the loop on his back he uses to hook up to the cable caught the door. He started to struggle, trying to push himself through.

The last thing he saw was a bright light.

He was blasted outward from the explosion into the outside world where he had never set foot. His body hit the ground with a crash, and with that, he felt his systems go down.

Sun booted up after a while and he slowly got up. He looked back to what was before the pizza plex, but was only met with a building engulfed by flames. He looked around and spotted the radio. He picked it up to see it miraculously wasn’t too damaged. He just stared at it for what felt like hours. He lifted his hand slowly, then after a moment of hesitation, he turned it on. It seemed to still work because it immediately came to life. Two people were talking over the channel.

“...Freddy seems to still be upset about not being able to grab his bowling ball. I'm not sure why he insists on keeping it anyway, we can always just give him another one.”

Sun recognized this voice. It was Venessa.

“ He’ll get over it. And are any of the others giving you any trouble?”

“No. Roxy is just as much of a deva as ever and Monty has been a little temperamental but other than that we can manage. Although Chica hasn’t said a word since we left.”

“I’m sure she just needs a bit more time to adjust”

The talking went silent. Sun moved to set the radio down.

“... Hey, I’ve been meaning to ask”

Venessa started. Sun froze, then slowly lifted the walkie talkie back up.

“Mhm? What’s up?”

“You the daycare attendants right? The Sun with its Moon counterpart?”

Sun felt the gears inside him ticking. He started to tremble, struggling to hold the radio steady.

“Are you sure it was a good idea to leave him?”

“NO!” Sun barked, starting to overheat. His internal fans were now working hard to keep him from overheating.

“Oh, him, don’t worry about that. We have been getting complaints for the last few months about Sun being too rough with kids and Moon being too scary for them. We can just replace him. I was actually going to tell you about the new daycare theme and animatronic mascot ideas we have come up wi-”

Sun slammed the radio into the ground, parts scatter everywhere. Something snapped in Sun. He couldn’t bear to listen to the conversation anymore. He slowly stood up and looked to the sky. The sun was starting to set. He spotted a bright light in the distance. It was a ship. He watched as it took off up into the atmosphere.

They left me… They are replacing me…

Sun was trying to process what was happening. The world felt like it was spinning and he was about to short circuit. But there wasn’t anything he could do. He didn’t know what to do. All he know was that

he had been abandoned.

Chapter Text

    In the time they have been alone, Sun and Moon have had to adapt to the world around them. They were designed to adjust and act accordingly in case of emergency. Even though there weren't any humans on earth anymore, that doesn’t mean all of the animals have disappeared too. Sun and Moon had never seen animals in real life before. They had only read about them in books so when they saw some stray pets left behind in the chaos, they decided to take on the responsibility of taking care of them in any way they needed. 

Since they no longer had charging stations due to the fire, They have had to find other ways of recharging. Sun and Moon found it most effective to use solar panels they modified into Sun's rays and arms during the day and run off of stored power they collected at night. They also built an emergency shelter with stored power just in case.

Today was a hot day, not that it really bothers the Sun of course. He decided to walk by the supermarket again to get more art supplies and any useful tools they happen to find. 

“ Hey moon, do you need any more blankets? ”

Yes, I keep finding holes in my blankets because the fucking wild dogs I was taking care of last nap time decided to be a nuisance. 

“Language!”

Oh come on, who cares if I say a few bad words? I don’t know if you’ve noticed but we are the only ones here.

“ Still, it’s a nasty habit to have. ” 

    Sun insisted. He walked in, grabbed a cart, and started walking through the different aisles. He hummed a tune as he filled his cart with an assortment of arts supplies, blankets, pillows, toys, and books. In the daycare, Sun didn’t have a lot of material to explore outside the boundaries of children's books, but now he was able to read whatever he wanted. He was very fond of books about fantasy and adventure. He has also read other books out of curiosity such as doctors manuals and human/ animal anatomy. He thinks it makes it a lot more realistic to play things like doctor and patient when you know what a doctor actually does. Sun walked back into the parking lot with his cart and started heading back to base. Sun walked for a few miles until he saw the landmark he made. It was a sign that read ‘Home of Sun and Moon :)’. After passing the sign it wasn't long until he reached his destination. An elementary school. 

    Throughout the years, Sun and Moon had modified the school to match their liking. Moon turned the library into a napping corner, and Sun has taken parts from different jungle gyms from places like McDonalds and Carl's junior to make a giant jungle gym all throughout the school. When sun entered the school, he opened his chest cavity and pulled out a few new books from today's scavenging. 

“ It’s about nap time, are you ready to come out and get started? ” Sun asked, setting the books on the shelf. 

Yea

Sun streaked a bit first, then went to turn off the lights.

 When Moon came out he was about to start tucking the scattered stuffed animals in the room when he heard a soft sound. It was something he hadn’t heard in a long, long time. The sound of soft breathing was emitting from the pile of cots and blankets. 

“ Do you hear that?”

Moon whispered not looking away from that corner of the room. 

Yeah, maybe it’s just another wild dog right?

“ Definitely, has to be. But I swear to god if it’s another god damn porcupine, you're taking care of it, got that?”

    Sun let out a groan but reluctantly agreed. Moon started to cautiously approach the sound. As he got closer, he could see the rising and falling of a blanket in the far corner. When he was about an arms length away, he gently reached out and pulled the blanket back slowly. Moon stared in disbelief. It was a human!? But how was that possible? They left hundreds of years ago! Moon started to panic a little, and Sun’s frantic yelling wasn’t helping. 

WHAT, HOW COULD THIS BE!? NO NO NONONONONO, WE NEED TO GET THEM OUT OF HERE. 

“ What, why? They’ll die if we kick them out of here, especially with the wild animals that hang around here at night. ”

Sun was silent for a moment.

I know, but I don’t trust them. I'm not sure if you remember but the last time we trusted a-

“ I know. I just- I can’t just leave them, and I know you feel the same way. Also think about it. The people who left us died hundreds of years ago. ”

Sun let out a sigh. 

I hate it when you're right. But please, try to be careful.

    Moon nodded. He looked back at the sleeping person. They looked like they were about in their early twenties. He wasn’t sure how to act around older humans, only young children. He noticed that they looked a bit beaten up and that they had bags under their eyes from lack of sleep. Moon feet a pang of pity. He subconsciously reached over to pat their head the way he would with small children in the past but then stopped himself. The human shifted in their sleep a bit, causing moon to jump at the sudden movement. Were they waking up? Moon wondered. He started to walk away, not wanting to be in view when they woke up, but it was too late. The human sat up slowly with a yawn. They looked around for a moment, then their eyes rested on moon. They didn’t look scared like Moon thought they’d be. Instead they looked confused and a bit unsure. But it didn’t last for long because moments later they looked petrified. 

“WHAT THE FUCK!?”

The human fell back and scrambled behind one of the cots.

“I’M SORRY, I DIDN’T KNOW YOU LIVED HERE. I CAN LEAVE BUT PLEASE DON’T HURT ME!” They rambled frantically. Moon was speechless for a moment.

“ Pffft- hAHAHAHAHA ”

He couldn’t help but laugh. Seeing them trip over themselves like that was hilarious. Moon could hear Sun in his head trying to hold back his giggles as well.

At least we know they aren’t dangerous

    Moon nodded, still fighting back laughter. He could see the human peeking around the cot with a confused but skeptical look. Moon wiped a non-existent tear from his eye and he crouched down to their level so as not to scare them. 

“ Uh, hey there. ”

He started in a soft voice, but wasn’t sure what else to say. The human was quiet for a moment, then they started to slowly stand back up. 

“H-hey, sorry to bother you. I was just passing by when I saw this school. I thought it looked like a safe place to stay for the night but I guess it’s already occupied.”

    They said with a small smile. Even though they seemed to be trying to appear confident, they were still shaking a bit. Moon felt his permanent smile widened slightly. It felt good to talk with someone and hear a response that wasn’t just in your head. 

“ Oh, no it’s alright. If you don’t mind me asking, how did you get here? I haven’t seen a human in over 700 years. ”

Their eyes widened. 

“700 years!? Man, you must have been lonely huh?” They asked, seeming a bit more comfortable. 

“ Yea, we have been pretty lonely. ”

“We?” They asked, looking around the room? “ Is someone here with you?”

Suns breath hitch. Moon could hear all his worried thoughts grumbling together. 

I-I'm not sure if I'm ready to talk to them yet. I’m still not sure if we should trust them.

“ It’s alright, I can stay out for now. You just calm down for a bit, I’m sure they won’t mind. ” 

Moon reassured Sun. The human looked at them with a confused look. Moon sighed, they probably think he’s crazy, he thought.

“Who are you talking to?”

“ Oh, I’m talking with my counterpart Sun. We share the same endoskeleton so I can hear him in my head. He’s a bit shy so he might not come out for a while. ”

Moon explained. The human nodded ,” Oh. Wait a minute! On the way here I saw a sign that said something about a Sun and Moon guy. So you must be Moon, right?”

Moon nodded

I told you the sign was a good idea.    

Moon rolled his eyes “ Yea, what can I call you? ” he asked, realizing he still didn’t know their name.

“Oh, My Name is Y/N. It’s nice to meet you Moon.” Y/N said extending out a hand.

Moon hesitated for a moment, then took their hand in his. 

“Wow, Your hand’s huge.” Y/N said, looking at their hands. Moon shrugged. 

“ Anyway, do you need a place to stay? ” Moon asked, taking back his hand.

“Oh, yeah,” They said, seeming a bit embarrassed, “I’m sure I’ll figure something out. I mean, there’s lots of world out there, right” 

You should ask them to stay with us!

Sun blurted. Moon tilted his head. He was about to answer but then caught himself. 

“ One moment please. I’ll be right back. ” Moon said, then moved to the room next door.

“ Are you sure you’ll be ok with that? You seemed to be a bit iffy about them before. Why the change of heart? ” Moon asked, closing the door softly. 

I know, I know. I’m not sure why but I just think it’s a good idea to keep them around. Also like you said, they need us. I mean look at them, The moment they saw us, all they did to defend themselves was hide behind a sleeping cot!

“ You’re right. I hate to think about what might happen to them if they were up against a real threat. ” Moon said, nodding in agreement. Sun thought for a moment before asking.

Are you ok with keeping them around though? I'm sure you’re having conflicting feelings too. 

Moon was silent for a moment “ I do have my doubts, but I’m sure they mean well. I’m willing to try. ” Moon said in a quiet voice. 

About 5 minutes passed and Y/N was starting to wonder if they were ok. They were about to go check on them when they heard the door open. 

“ Sorry for the wait. I just had to have a private conference with Sun. ”

“Oh it’s all right. Hey, I know it’s a lot to ask but do you think it would be alright if I stay here for the night? You won't even know I'm here.” Y/N asked,” I know you barely know me but I promise I won’t be a bother.”

“ Don’t worry, we already decided you can stay with us. If you want of course. We were actually going to tell you that we will allow you to stay as long as you want. We wouldn’t mind the company.” 

    Moon said with a smile. Y/N’s face lit up “Really? Thank you so much.” They pretty much cheered. They ran over and gave moon a bear hug, but then retreated immediately. They had turned red and had started to ramble frantic apologies, but Moon wasn’t listening. He was in a daze. He hadn’t been hugged in so long. He didn’t say anything, all he did was pull them back into a hug. Y/N was tense for a moment, but after a second of hesitation, they hugged him back.

Moon and Y/N talk for hours. It was all just normal conversation, like interests, hobbies, etc.. But then the question came up

“Hey, If you don’t mind me asking, Where did you come from. Where were you built? Whoever designed you did a good job, I'm impressed.”

    Moon flinched at their word. They don't like talking about their past. It made them feel like they were reliving it all over again. Sun and moon are designed to record what they are seeing and hearing at all times. He was built this way in case there was ever something important he may have seen that was needed. Because of this, Sun and Moon had recordings of all of his memories. It’s sad at times. Whenever they are bored they like to find memories from when he was playing in the daycare, or when they were getting into mischief with the glam rocks. Sometimes he really misses the dayca- Moon was suddenly snapped out of his thoughts

“Hey, you ok there bud?” Y/N asked, waving a hand. “Earth to Moon”

“ O-oh, sorry. I was just thinking. We used to be the day care attendant in a place called Freddy Fazbear’s Mega Pizza plex. I’m sorry but we don’t like talking about our past so that’s all I can tell you for now. It’s… ”

Y/N rested their hand Moon’s.

“Hey, it’s ok. You don’t have to talk about it if you don’t feel comfortable talking about it”

Moon let out a shaky sigh and cleared his throat. 

“ Anyway, I’m still curious about how you got here. I’ve searched all over the world and haven’t found any living humans. ”

“Oh, well about that. I just arrived on earth 3 days ago. I took one of the emergency escape pods.” Y/N explained not looking at Moon.

“ Why did you leave? ” Moon asked, listening attentively.

“I learned something about the Axiom. Once I learned the truth, I couldn’t stay. I had to leave” Y/N said with a little distress hinting into their voice 

Wait, what made them have to leave? 

Sun suddenly chimed in. 

I’m not sure but I’ll ask. Moon thought to Sun. It had been a long time since he had to respond to Sun without saying it outload. 

“ What made you leave exactly? ” Moon asked, resting his chin on is hand.

Y/N just shook their head. “I’d rather not talk about it this time bud. Maybe some other time.”

Moon nodded and decided not to push them any further. At least for now. He looked at the window and saw it was already dark out.

"SHI-" Moon caught himself that time. He could feel Sun's judgment radiating in his head "I mean shoot, it's past bed time. We need to get you settled for the night." 

Moon said standing up to his full height. Y/N looked up at him in awe. "Wow you're really bi-" They were cut off by Moon picking them up. This made them squeak and cling to him.

"wHAT ARE YOU DOING" Y/N yelped.

"Oh, I'm putting you to bed." Moon said a-matter-of-factly. "What would you like to sleep to, a story or a song?" 

Moon said setting Y/N down on a neatly made bed. He tucked them in and sat down on a chair next to the bed.

"I- pffft- oh that's right. I forgot you told me about taking care of bedtimes but I didn't thing you took it this seriously." Y/N side with a smile. "Hmmm, how about a story?"

Moon nodded and walked to the door, "I'll be back in just a moment." He said, and with that, he left the room. 

He headed to the room he stored books in and other naptime necessities. When Moon walked back into the room with Y/N, he handed them a mug. 

"What's this" They asked taking the mug.

"Its just sleepy time tea with honey. They are 2 things that never get bad so I decided to keep some here" Moon explained as he pulled up a chair and sat next to the bed.

He opened his chest cavity and pulled out a children's book labeled 'how do dinosaurs say goodnight' . When Y/N saw the book they felt their heart swell. Awww, he's so adorable. Moon looked to Y/N, seeing if they were ready for him to start reading. 

"Go ahead, I'm ready" Y/N said, settling in.

Moon read the book and about half way through, Y/N was out like a light. he smiled and closed the book. 

They must have been exhausted.

Sun commented. Moon agreed with a sigh. They weren't sure what had happened on the Axiom that made Y/N so upset but, But they decided that was something to worry about later on. For now the only thing that was important was keeping Y/N safe. Earth was no longer a safe place for humans to live. Moon walked to the other side of the room and plopped down on a pile of blankets and pillows. He took out a chapter book, flipped through the pages, and picked up where he last stopped.

Today was quite different from usually, and from now on, Sun and Moon had a feeling things were never going to be the same. 

Chapter Text

    Y/N woke up the next morning to a brightly lit room. All the curtains in the room were opened and sunlight drifted into the room. They slowly got up and tried to recall the previous day's events. Y/N looked around the room and realized that Sun and Moon, the animatronics they had met the previous night, were gone. 

“Moon? Ya there?” Y/N called out, hoping for a response. They waited for a moment, then after hearing nothing, Y/N decided to get up and look for Moon.

    They swung their feet over the bed, but when they went to stand up, they felt something soft under their feet. Y/N jumped back onto the bed with a yelp and cautiously looked over the edge of the bed to see what they had stepped on. There were 2 fuzzy Freddy Faz bear slippers sitting on the floor. Moon had probably left them there for Y/N to use when they got out of bed. 

    Y/N face flushed a light pink as they sat back up and put them on. At least no one was there to see them get frightened by a pair of fuzzy slippers. They left the room and started to walk throughout the school. It wasn’t like the other buildings Y/N had seen so far. It was strangely tightly and was filled with drawings and books and an absurd amount of toys. Y/N could recognize most of the drawings of Freddy and the gang, but there were a few unfamiliar faces. Y/N stopped in front of a drawing of a purple bunny. There was also another drawing of a cream colored bunny, but it was very hard to make out because it was all scribbled out with purple crayon. 

    As Y/N walked down the hall, they heard the soft sound humming, though It was very faint. It sounded like Moon’s voice but it was slightly different. It sounded more energetic and childish and wasn’t as raspy. When Y/N reached where the humming was coming from, the door to the room was slightly cracked open. There was a smell of brown sugar and maple syrup lingering in the air. They approached the door slowly, rested their hand on the door frame, and looked into the room. Y/N saw a tall and brightly colored animatronic that looked very similar to Moon, but was instead sun themed. His blue nightcap was replaced with rays that made him resemble a sunflower. His paint color changed as well from cold blue and pail colors to warm yellows and reds. He was prancing around as he cleaned the room, singing to a song you didn’t recognize.

“Look for the bare necessities 

The simple bare necessities 

Forget about your worries and your strife

I mean the bare necessities 

Old Mother Nature's recipes 

That brings the bare necessities of life 

Wherever I wander, wherever I roam

I couldn't be fonder of my big home 

The bees are buzzin' in the tree

To make some honey just for me 

When you look under the rocks and plants 

And take a glance at the fancy ants”

    He sang as he took a bowl out of a high cupboard. Y/N smiled at his silliness, then started to take a step closer. The floorboard underneath them creaked, making Sun yelp in surprise. He whipped around to see Y/N standing there, who was waving sheepishly. 

“Hey, sorry I startled you. You must be Sun right.” Y/N said with a warm smile. 

Sun was frozen in place. He wasn’t expecting to meet Y/N just yet. 

MOON, WHAT DO I DO!!?? I haven’t talked with anyone besides you in- in FOREVER!! 

It’s ok Sun, calm down. Just try to act confident. Y/N is also very sweet so there’s no need to worry. 

Sun paused for a moment, took a ‘deep breath’, then walked across the room to Y/N. He reached his hand out, hesitated, then gave Y/N a quick pat on the head. 

“ H-Hello, new friend? It’s nice to meet you, ” He stuttered, giving a wave. His movements were stiff with fear. He didn’t want to mess up his first impression of them. 

“It’s nice to meet you too, Hey what’s that you're making over there?” Y/N asked, peaking over to the table of food Sun had put together. 

“ O-oh, I made you breakfast! We thought you might be hungry, so I went out this morning and Found some canned foods a-and oatmeal. I hope it's alright. ” He added with a small smile. 

“Really? Awww thank you so much. You’re such a nice guy.” Y/N said, walking over to the table. Sun started to leave the room when he felt something gently tug his hand. “Hey, leaving so soon?” Y/N asked, looking up at him. 

“ Sorry, I didn’t want to bother you. I thought you would want me to leave because I can get a bit annoyed. ” He said with a forced laugh. 

“What? Who told you that? It wasn't Moon, was it ?” Y/N asked crossing their arms 

“ n-NO! It wasn’t Moon! It’s just- it’s fine. It’s probably me just overreacting. ”

    He said, shaking his head. “ Anyway, I should- ” Sun was cut off when Y/N pulled him to the table and sat him in a chair. They then sat down next to him and gave him a smile. “It’s ok, you don’t have to tell me. But you don’t have to leave just because of me. I actually would quite enjoy your company, thank you very much.” Y/N said in a silly voice making Sun giggle a little. 

“ Are you sure it’s ok? ” He asked nervously. He had started to fidget with his hands. 

“Yes I’m sure.” Y/N said taking a bite of oatmeal. Sun looked down and noticed Y/N was wearing the slippers he left out. 

“ Oh, I'm glad you like the Freddy slippers I got you. ” Sun said, almost to himself. 

“Wait, was it you who left them there for me? I thought It was Moon.” Y/N said, looking down at them as well. Y/N then remembered how they found them and felt their face start to heat up with embarrassment. Sun noticed their reaction and immediately started to panic.

“ ARE YOU ALRIGHT!? You just turned really red! Are you sick? Maybe the food was still too hot! ” He started rambling. He reached out and rested his hand on Y/N’s forehead. Y/N laughed and pulled Sun’s hand from their head. “I’m fine, I was just remembering something silly that’s all” They reassured him. 

    Sun let out a sigh of relief. He sat with Y/N as they continued to eat. When Sun felt a bit more comfortable, he started talking. Sun told Y/N about his time in the daycare and about how he would play with the children. He spoke of it so vividly, you’d thing it had just happened.  When Y/N had finished eating, Sun started to wash the dishes. He muttered small ‘clean ups’ in a happy toon.

“Do you need any help there bud?” 

“ Oh no, I’ll be alright sunshine ” Sun said with a smile. Y/N stopped for a moment, a bit taken aback by the new nickname. “Sunshine?”

“ SORRY! It’s something I used to call the kids in the daycare! I didn’t mean to! I’m Sorry Sorry Sorry Sorry Sorry” Sun started to blabber but stopped when he heard sudden laughter. 

“It’s ok Sun. It’s just a nickname. I don’t mind if you call me that.” 

Sun was about to ask if they were sure if it was ok, but they must have sensed that because they raised an eyebrow at him. He felt his smile widen. 

“ Allright sunshine, I’ll finish up cleaning for now. If you want you can go explore while you wait and I’ll catch up with you later. ” Sun said, waving Y/N off. 

“Ok, ok, I’ll see ya.” Y/N said walking out the door.

“ Have fun, but please be careful. ” He called out, but they were already gone. 

    Y/N walked all around the building. They went through the jungle gym and down a slide that led to outside. They were now behind the school. It was still pretty bright out but the sun had already started to set. Huh, I must have slept all day, Y/N thought. As they walked around, Y/N heard whimpering from in the trees. Y/N was about to go investigate but stopped themselves. Maybe they should wait for Sun. It should be fine. I’ll be quick. It’ll be like I never left. They thought. And without a second thought, they wandered into the woods. 

    As Y/N walked through the trees, they found the source of the sound that drew them in. It was a wild dog pup, and it had gotten itself stuck in a log trying to squeeze through a space far too small for itself. Y/N felt their heart melt seeing the puppy. They crouched down and gently reached out to it.

“Hey there little guy, need any help?”

    The puppy, being frightened by the sudden movement, tried to nip them. The puppy missed, but their action was enough to make Y/N stumble back. Y/N had never seen a puppy do this before. All the puppies they had seen on the Axiom never attempted to bite them. The puppy started to yap loudly. Y/N was confused. They hadn’t even touched the poor thing. 

“It’s ok, Just give me a second.” Y/N said standing up to look around.

    Y/N found a nearby stick, brought it back to the log, and started to gently push the puppies head to the side so they could work at the log. It took a while but after some work, Y/N had loosened the park around the puppy enough for him to slip through. It would have been a lot easier if it wasn’t screaming its head off the entire time though. Y/N stepped back for a moment and smiled at the small creature.

“See, isn’t that much better?” Y/N asked, only getting a high pitched growl in response. Y/N hadn’t realized how dark it had gotten already. 

“Shit, It’s night already? Man, Sun must be worried sick.” They cursed getting up to head back. They stopped and looked down at the puppy. It was shivering from being out in the open. 

“Oh, I can’t just leave you here. Come on, I’m sure Sun and Moon won’t mind such a cute face.” Y/N said crouching down to pick up the puppy. But before Y/N could pick up the puppy. they heard a low growling from behind them, along with rustling of bushes. They whipped their head around to see a pack of wild dogs slowly surrounding them. Y/N shot up to their feet, grasping the stick they had in their hands firmly. The puppy had retreated back to the wild dogs and was carried away safely. Little traitor. Y/N thought, but quickly regained focus when a wild dog lunged at them. The dog gave a good sized gash to Y/N’s left leg. They shrieked out in pain but recovered quickly enough to whack the wild dog, making it tumble to the ground. Some of the wild dogs retreated a little, but swinging the stick made Y/N lose their balance. They fell to the ground with an ‘oof’. The wild dogs started to close in when suddenly, blood curdling, sinister laughter filled the air.

Earlier that day~

    Not long after Y/N left, Sun had finished cleaning up and went off to look for them. He skipped around happily. It felt like he was playing hide and seek with the children again. He giggled mischievously as he lurked about, looking and listening for any sign of them.

“ Oh sunshine~~~! Come out, come out wherever you are! Are we playing Hide and Seek? ” He asked as he walked around with his arms behind his back. He heard rustling in the jungle gym. Barely able to contain his excitement he crawled into the jungle gym and started to glide effortlessly through the tubes and ladders. When he was just around the corner of the sound, he jumped around the corner “ BOO!! ” He shouted playfully, smiling wide. But wasn’t Y/N, it was a wild dog that had wandered into the jungle gym and was trying to paw its way out. Sun huffed angrily and picked it up by its scruff.

“ You are BAND from the school, OUT OUT OUT!! ” Sun said as he gently set the dog outside and shooed it away.

 After about an hour of searching without any success, he started to panic. 

“ Y/N, This isn’t funny anymore! Please come out! You win! Do you want a prize?! I promise if you come out I’ll give you a nice prize! Don't you want a puppet show? I-I have glitter glue! Ya like glitter glue? Googly eyes? ”

Sun tried bargaining.

WHAT IF THEY GOT HURT!!?? OR LOST!!?? I knew we should have kept them close. I knew it IknewitIknewit!!

CALM DOWN SUN. Don’t lose out head, We need to focus on finding Y/N. Don’t lose it.

     He felt his permanent smile starting to waver a bit. Where did they go? Did they leave them? No! They wouldn’t leave them, would they? Not again, it couldn’t happen again. He can’t go through that again. Not again! No No NONONONONO NONONONO!! Sun started to sprint throughout the school, desperate to find Y/N. He bursted out of the school doors and into the night, Turning into moon as he ran into the night.

    Even though Moon was trying to act calm and collected as he spoke with Sun, in reality, he was just as scared and frantic as Sun. In fact, he may have been worse. As Moon ran, he heard a scream in the distance. The moment he heard it, he knew, it was Y/N. Moon felt his systems trying to warn him of an error in his programming. He knew what it was, but at the moment he couldn’t care less. Right now the only thing he cared about was finding Y/N. It didn’t take him long to arrive at the scene. He crept up undetected and saw a pack of wild dogs trying to over power Y/N. The moment he saw this, he could feel his judgment cloud over completely as the virus took over. He started laughing.

    Moon stood up to his full height, then he lunged forward, striking several dogs effortlessly as he pushed forward. Before Y/N could even Blink, Moon was standing in front of them. The dogs were lying lifelessly on the ground, scattered. Y/N stood up slowly.

“A-are they dead?” Y/N asked, their voice shaking. Moon was silent for a moment. He just stood there, smiling down at them, his eyes were glowing red. Wait, weren’t they blue before? Y/N wondered but quickly shook off that thought. 

“ No, they are just sleeping. I used my moondrops to put them to sleep ” Moon said in a raspy voice, sounding delighted at his words. He was acting differently than before. He seemed more sinister. 

“Oh thank goodness. Let’s head ba-” Y/N was cut off then they were gently pushed to the ground. They looked at Moon and realized that he was looking at the gash on their leg. The sinisterness seemed to have disappeared and he was acting normal again. His smile shifted a bit. Even though he was only capable of smiling, he still managed to look distressed. He opened his chest cavity and pulled out bandages and disinfectant. Moon looked up at Y/N.

“ This is going to hurt a bit, but please try to bear with it.” Moon said, then without any more warning, started to pour disinfectant over the wound. Y/N winced but stayed still. When Moon finished patching them up, he sat back to inspect his work. 

“Thanks Moon. I’m sorry for worrying you. I won’t do it aga-” Y/N started, their voice cracking, but Moon cut them off by pulling them into a hug. 

“ Shhh, it’s alright. I’m very proud of you. You did such a good job. ” Moon praised, gently rubbing Y/N's back. Y/N was suddenly hit by the fear and sadness from the dog attack and felt tears starting to well up in their eyes. Moon stayed silent as they cried into his shoulder. He just continued to rub their back and rock them gently, humming to a soft toon. 

After Moon got Y/N back and put them to bed he let out a weary sigh.

Did you feel that earlier? It came back. I thought we had gotten rid of it. 

Moon thought to Sun

I know. Are you feeling ok? You seem really… stressed about it. 

It’s fine. It should go away like it did before. 

Moon pulled a chair next to the bed and sat down. He decided that from then on, he wouldn’t let Y/N out of his sight.

Chapter Text

A few days had passed since Y/N had wandered off into the woods, and since then, Sun and Moon refused to leave Y/N’s side. Wherever Y/N was, Sun and Moon were never far behind. If Sun needed to get something from town, then he would put Y/N in a cart filled with blankets and pillows and take them along for the ride. If Y/N wanted to explore, Moon would allow it, but would be lurking just out of sight in case he needed to intervene. 

    Of course there had been times when Y/N would manage to slip out of Sun and Moon’s  watchful eye, but It was always short-lived. Although, when this did manage to happen, Moon started to glitch out the way he did that night in the woods. He would act almost insane, but it always went away soon after talking with Y/N. Whenever Y/N tried to ask about his strange behavior, but Moon would always brush it off. But what bothered Y/N most is that it had never happened to Sun.

    Y/N was sitting in Sun’s lap, reading a book, while he was coloring. Sun had warmed up to Y/N in the few days they had spent together and had been a lot more confident. Sun loved to play games with Y/N, but it took him some time to be comfortable with playing hide and seek again. The day before he had taken out an old movie player and DVD’s to watch movies. Y/N had watched movies on the Axiom, but they had never seen any of the ‘Disney’ movies Sun would play. They had decided to watch a movie that night before bed and Sun insisted on watching Brother bear. 

“ I just know you’re going to love love LOVE this movie. ” Sun exclaimed happily. 

“Hey, how about we build a pillow fort like the other night?” Y/N asked, picking up a few pillows. Sun nodded frantically “ That’s a wonderful idea! We can build the biggest pillow fort in the world. ” He exclaimed with an excited giggle.

    Sun started to gather blankets and pillows from around the room. When he decided it wasn’t enough to build said ‘biggest pillow fort in the world’, he decided he needed to get more blankets from the other room.

“ Hey, let’s go get some more bedding from the other room! ” Sun called over to Y/N.

“I’m already starting the fort with what we have over here. You can go ahead, I’ll join you in a minute.” Y/N called back.

Sun started to fidget and was about to protest, but Y/N must have sensed his ambivalent feelings. 

“Sun, I’ll be fine for a second. Don’t worry.” Y/N said, trying to reassure him. He looked like he was about to agree but then shook his head. 

“ The fort will be fine sunshine. Come on, let’s go! ” 

    Sun said, attempting to sound cheery. He walked over to Y/N and picked them up bridal style. Y/N was kind of used to being picked up now, but no matter how many times it happens, it always managed to make them turn a light pink. Sun took them to a room where Moon stored things for nap time and set them down. Y/N had a feeling that Sun and Moon would have some separation anxiety, and they didn’t mind being with them all the time, but they hated to see them so stressed about such little things. With Sun, he was a bit more obvious about his thoughts, but with Moon, Y/N was never quite sure what he was thinking. 

When they got back to the TV room, They finished building the fort and started the movie. 

SUN! Let me out! You’ve gotten to be out with Y/N all day today! Moon started to protest, getting impatient. 

Oh, come on, we just started a movie! Sun whined. He knew Moon was right, but he wasn’t ready to go let him out just yet. 

That’s not fair! 

Well too bad, I'll let you out after the movie. Sun said, mentally sticking his tongue out at him.

Y/N was about to settle down in Sun’s lap for the movie, but then got back up and started to walk towards the light switch. 

“ What are you doing sunshine? ” Sun asked, tilting his head. 

“Oh, it’s better to watch movies in the dark, and I haven’t seen Moon in a while.” They said looking back at him. If Moon was out, he would have had the biggest smirk on his face. 

No, don’t say it. I swear to god if you-

Ok, my turn. Moon said in a silly voice, definitely not making a despicable me 1 reference.  

Sun had to fight back a giggle. He then nodded to Y/N, and they turned off the lights.

Seconds later, Moon was sitting where Sun was moments before. He gave Y/N a sweet smile.

“ Hello starlight, It’s been a hot second since I’ve last seen you. I thought you had forgotten about me ” He said dramatically, tossing his head back for effect.

Y/N laughed and went back to the fort and plopped down next to him. “How could I forget? I wish you would have more faith in me Moonlight.” Y/N said, playing along with him.

Moon paused and looked at Y/N for a moment. 

“What? You ok there bud?” Y/N asked 

“ Say that again ”

“Hmm?”

“ Call me that again ” Moon said, his voice unreadable. 

“Oh, do you mean the nickname?” Y/N asked. Moon simply nodded, still waiting eagerly.

“Moonlight?” Y/N said, amused at his reaction. They could hear his internal fans starting to work to cool him down and his smile seemed to widen. He picked Y/N up and set them in his lap. He hugged them and rested his chin on their head. 

Awwww, Moon gets a nickname and I don’t? Unfair!

    Moon ignored Sun’s complaints and nuzzled his face into the back of Y/N’s neck. Y/N had turned a bright red and their heart had started to race. Moon, of course, had noticed this and grind. 

“Let’s start the movie” Y/N said, clearing their throat. 

    They started Brother bear and Y/N completely forgot why they were embarrassed about. They were completely entranced by the movie. Moon had long forgotten about the movie. His attention was occupied elsewhere. He watched, and they didn’t seem to notice.. About half way into the movie, Moon could feel Y/N’s breathing and heartbeat getting slower, and when the movie was about to end, Y/N fell asleep. Moon grabbed the remote and turned off the TV. He watched as Y/N slept, wondering what they were dreaming about. Moon gently pulled a blanket over them and hummed softly to a song.

    Moon felt Y/N’s heart suddenly escalate and they started to overheat. Their breathing became rapid and they had a look of fear on their face. They were having a nightmare. Moon started to gently shake them and whispered,

“ Hey, it’s only a dream. I’m here. Wake up.”

Y/N still wouldn’t wake up. Tears started streaming down their face now and they were shaking. Moon sat Y/N up and shaked them a little harder now. 

“ Hey, You need to wake up. ” He said, trying to stay calm. Sun was freaking out in his head and it was making it very hard to concentrate. Y/N’s eyes snapped open and they screamed. They tried to shake themselves from Moon's grasp, but he held them in place. 

“ Calm down starlight, It’s just me. It’s alright. ”

    When Y/N realized they were back to reality, they hugged Moon tightly. They were fighting back a tear’s at this point. Moon hugged them back and started to gently rub their back in a circular motion. 

“ Shhh, it’s alright, you can cry if you need to. ”

    The moment he said that, all hopes of not crying were thrown out the window. Y/N cried. They cried for a while, but Moon didn’t move, he just held them, telling them it was alright. When Y/N finally calmed down, they sat up and rubbed their eyes, sniffling. 

“ Do you feel better now? ” Moon asked, patting their head. 

“I-I’m-” Y/N started, their voice shaky. But in the end they could only manage a nod. 

“ Did you have a nightmare? ” 

Again, they nodded. 

“ Do you want to tell me about it? ”

Y/N hesitated,

“ It might make you feel better if you talk about it. ” Moon added, tilting his head a bit. 

    Y/N was quiet for a moment, then took a shaky breath. “I had a dream that I was back at the Axiom.” They started. “I was home again with my family. It was just like the day I left. I was walking back to the living quarters after being out all day with friends when I saw SECUR-T robots escorting this line of elders from their rooms. They are all elders that have gotten big from being on these hover chairs. One of them was my grandma, who was such a sweet person-” Y/N’s voice cracked when they said this. They cleared their throat and continued. “I was curious to see, no, I needed to see where they were taking her, so I decided to follow them. They didn’t seem to notice I was trailing behind them, so I kept going. They went all around the living quarters and gathered more people, some of them were asleep and didn’t even realize what was happening to them. They took them to a place I had never been before. It was behind the food courts. They went into this small room at the end of a long hall with some kind of machine. The people were handed this little pill being passed around by the SECUR-T bots. They took it and not long after they fell over and-” Y/N trailed off, their face consumed with grief. 

    Moon was speechless. He never thought that humans would program bots to kill them when they reached old age. Moon pulled Y/N back into a hug and pressed his face plate onto their top of their head, giving them a ‘kiss’. 

“ I’m sorry you had to see that starlight. I’m so sorry. ”

Y/N hugged him back.

“ Was that the end of the dream? ” Moon asked in a soft voice

Y/N seemed to wish they could say yes, but shook their head.

“After that, the bots took the bodies and put them into the machine. I could hear the machine grinding the bodies and bones snapping. But that’s when I realized something. The machine the bodies went into lead to the food court. I ran back to my room and packed everything I could. I ran to the escape pods and took off. And that was the end of my dream.” Y/N said, hugging Moon a little tighter.

Moon could sense Sun in his head. He was listening but he didn’t say a thing. It was unnerving when Sun went quiet. Usually nothing could shut him up.

Moon gently pulled away from the hug and picked Y/N up, keeping them wrapped in a blanket. Y/N looked at him confused.

“ Thank you for telling me about it. You did a very good job. It’s hard to talk about these things. ” He complemented, walking back to the bedroom. Moon gently laid them on the bed and pulled the covers over them.

“ It’s been a long night and I think the best thing to do now is to sleep. We can talk more in the morning if you need to. ” He said, moving a few stray hairs from their face. 

Moon stood up and was about to go back to his chair when he felt a warm hand grab his. He looked down to see Y/N, not meeting his eyes, with their face turning a light pink. 

“Can… Can you sleep with me tonight?” They asked, avoiding eye contact. Moon realized that Y/N was probably still scared and felt his permanent smile widen a little. 

“I know it may sound a bit childish but-” Y/N started but was cut off when Moon crawled into the bed with them. 

“ It’s alright starlight, I understand. Now try to get some sleep. ” Moon said, pulling them to his chest plate and wrapping his arms around them. Y/N was bright red now, but they then relaxed and melted into the hug. It didn’t take long for them to fall back asleep. 

    Moon was still shocked at what was happening aboard the Axiom. He knew that they had to put an end to it, but how? They didn’t have a way to get to the Axiom. Hell, they didn’t even know where the Axiom was. Moon let out a sign, He would have to figure that out later, but for now, he just needed to think. 

All he knew was that the people aboard the Axiom were eating other human beings, and they didn’t even know it. 

Chapter Text

    The next day, Y/N was unusually quiet. Usually they would greet Sun in the morning, but today they didn’t want to get out of bed. Sun decided to surprise them with breakfast in bed, but they said they weren’t hungry. Sun was about to protest, but stopped himself. He didn’t want to force them to do anything they didn’t want to do so he let go of the subject for the time being. Sun tried everything he could think of to make them at least smile, but nothing seemed to work. He decided maybe he should let them have a little space, so he only watched them from afar. That afternoon when Moon came out however, Moon was a little bit more persistent to get them to at least talk about it, but they would say ‘I’ll be fine’ and brushed him off. He was starting to worry but Sun reminded him that they needed to be patient and give them some time. Moon tried to argue but knew that Sun was right. They agreed to give them the day to themselves and then talk to them tomorrow, but when tomorrow came, Y/N still insisted on not being hungry. They still insisted on being ‘OK’. Sun could tell Moon was starting to slowly go off the edge from constantly worrying, but promised that they would talk to them about it for sure the next day. That night, Moon had had it. He closed the curtains in all the rooms. The next day when the sun came out, Sun didn’t. 

…

When Y/N opened their eyes the next morning, the first thing they noticed was how dark the room was, and a very familiar pair of blue eyes staring back at them. They squeaked, completely awake. 

“ Did you sleep well starlight? ” Moon asked, sitting up a bit. 

“Yeah, thanks for asking,” Y/N said, letting out a weary sigh. “But why are you still out-”

Moon held out a bowl of oatmeal and tea. “ Here, eat first. ”

“Oh, thanks but I’m not-” Y/N started but Moon cut in.

“ I’m not taking no for an answer. You need to eat. I expect you to finish all of it? ” Moon said with slight sternness in his voice.

Y/N sighed and nodded, too tired to argue. As they ate, Moon watched intensely. Y/N decided to ignore it. When they finished, they looked to Moon and thanked him for the food. 

“ You’re welcome, ” Moon said, giving them a smile. Y/N was about to lay back down when Moon suddenly picked them back up. 

“EEEKK!! What are you doing?!” Y/N exclaimed, startled. 

“ We need to talk. ” Moon said, gently setting Y/N down on a bean bag. Y/N avoided his eyes and started to fidget. 

“It’s fine. You don’t need to worry about it. I’m just a little stressed is all.”

Moon cupped their cheek and slowly pulled them to face him. 

“ It’s not fine and I do need to worry about it. ” Moon said softly. 

“ I know what you’re going through is fucked up and I’m sorry, but I’m not going to let you neglect yourself. ” Moon said, “ I want you to know that I’m here for you whether you like it or not ”

Y/N looked at him surprised. They hadn’t ever heard Moon use such colorful language, and even when he slips up and almost says a curse, he always catches himself. 

“ I wanted to talk to you about the people on the Axiom and how we can help them. ”

Y/N tilted their head. “How could we? The Axiom is in space. We don’t have any way of getting there.” 

“ Well, not exactly. You said that you had crashed here on Earth in an escape shuttle. I’m thinking we can maybe repair it. “ Moon explained. 

    Y/N’s eyes widened at the idea. Go back? They could see their family again. They could see their friends again. Y/N wasn’t sure how they felt. It was something in between hopefulness and wanting to crawl into a hole and not come out. 

“I guess that could possibly work. The escape pod is built with a navigation system and it could fit the both of us no problem. But getting to the escape pod and bringing it here to repair is almost impossible.” Y/N said, pushing their hair out of their face. And even if they did manage to do all that, how would Sun and Moon react when they meet- No, don't think about that. That's over now. 

“ I know it will take a lot of work but I'm sure we can figure something out. Where did you crash anyway? ” Y/N shrugged, "I'm not entirely sure. It crashed in the middle of this huge building that seemed to be reduced to rubble from a fire or something. It was pretty far away, but with how fast you can take us from-” Moon wasn’t really listening to what Y/N was talking about. A huge burnt down building. There was only one place like that close enough for Y/N to know about it, and that was the Mega Pizza Plex.

No, nonononono, we are NOT going there. Not a chance. I’m sure we can find some other way to get aboard the Axiom, right? We have to! There’s no wa-

“ Alright, we can go check it out tomorrow. But for today we need to figure out what we need for the trip.” Moon started, ignoring Sun. Sun started to shout protests in Moon’s head. 

SUN. I know it’s not exactly the best place to visit but do we really have a choice? We need that escape pod and you know it.  

Sun was still very unsure but told Moon they would discuss it later.

“Alright.” Y/N said, hesitated, then added “I’m sorry I- I just-” Y/N started to get choked up.

Moon gently picked them up, setting them back down onto his lap. 

“ It’s alright starlight, It’s ok to be upset. Honestly I'd be more concerned if you weren’t. How about for now we try to relax and do something to get your mind off the subject for now? “  

    Y/N nodded with a shaky sign. They decided to play a game of hide and seek and Moon insisted on seeking first and when Y/N agreed, he let out a mischievous laugh. Y/N laughed at his excitement. Moon covered his eyes and started to count to 30. Y/N darted throughout the school as quietly as they could manage, giggling quietly to themselves. They decided to hide in a pile of blankets.

“ 27, 28, 29, 30! Ready or not, here I come~! ” Moon’s voice echoed through the halls. 

    Y/N silenced their giggles and waited quietly. After about 5 minutes, Y/N decided to change spots because they didn’t hear any sign of Moon. They slowly crept out of the blankets and started to slowly sneak out of the room. They could hear a faint sound of a music box drifting through the air as they walked. It was a soft toon that they recognized from a movie they had watched with Moon.

    It would have been a nice song if it wasn’t almost pitch black and they knew where it was coming from. If Y/N was completely honest, this was kind of scary, but it was exciting at the same time. They crawled into the jungle gym and started to move throughout the play tubes. They couldn’t see anything so they could only touch and listen to navigate themselves. With every movement they made, the jungle gym would make a small creaking sound. Moon probably can’t even hear me. He has to be at the other side of the school. Y/N thought sitting down in one of the small rooms that were scattered throughout the jungle gym.

Y/N let out a sign as they sat down and started to lean back a bit. When they did, they bumped into something. They whipped their head around to see Moon sitting there. They let out a yelp. 

“HOW DID YOU GET THERE??!!” Y/N yelped.

“ Oh I just saw you go into the jungle gym and followed you ” Moon laughed, patting them on the head. 

“How?! I didn’t hear you, how can you move so quietly?” Y/N asked bewildered, “Even the jungle gym didn’t make a sound.”

“ That’s a secret. ” Moon said with a smile.

    Y/N rolled their eyes and gave him a playful push. Moon laughed and booped Y/N’s nose. Y/N laughed and pulled Moon into a hug, making him freeze. His internal fans started to whirl and he slowly hugged them back. This felt different than usual. He had hugged Y/N before, cuddled them even, but every time he did, he felt the same way he did when he hugged a child. This was different. He didn’t know the right word for it. Appreciation? He did appreciate the affection, but it was more than that. Happiness? He was very happy but it was more than that too. Moon was pulled out of his thoughts when Y/N cleared their throat. 

“ Oh, sorry. I was just a little lost in thought. ” Moon said with a nervous laugh. 

Y/N was curious to ask what he was thinking about but decided to let it go. 

“Hey, do you want to go back out and start the next round?” Y/N asked, gesturing to the exit of the little room. Moon nodded and followed them out. He decided he would figure this new feeling out later. They played a few more rounds of hide and see. 

Moooon!!! It’s my turn to be out. You’re being stingy and you know it!

Alright alright, I’ll let you out now. 

    Moon knew that he was taking Sun’s time to see Y/N, but he was having a hard time leaving. He didn’t want to leave Y/N. He wanted to be with them all the time he realized. Moon put that thought aside to deal with later and walked to the light switch. 

“ Hey, I’m turning on the lights. ”

Y/N looked to Moon “Oh, yeah Sun should come out. I’m sure he’s sad he hasn’t been able to come out this morning.” Y/N said walking over to Moon. 

    Moon was about to pat their head and say goodbye when Y/N pulled him into an unexpected hug. He felt his fans kick in and started to work to keep him cool. He hugged them back, trying to act normal, but he was tense. That unknown feeling was back again and he was confused. He wanted to keep hugging them but he knew it was time to go. 

“ I’ll see you tonight starlight. ” Moon said, giving Y/N a smile and flicking the switch.

The moment Sun was back out he picked Y/N up without warning and hugged them happily, twirling with them in his arms.

“ It’s been too long since I’ve last seen you sunshine!! I missed you missed you MISSED YOU!! ” He exclaimed cheerfully. 

Y/N laughed and hugged him too. “I missed you too Sunny!” 

Sun halted his twirling and held Y/N out so he could look at them. 

“ What was that you just said just now? ” Sun asked seriously. 

Y/N was surprised at his sudden shift from his usual childish character. Oh, that’s right. They aren’t used to nicknames. Y/N thought smiling. 

“Oh nothing Sunny, just that I missed you.” Y/N said casually. They wanted to see if his reaction was as positive as Moons. They expected him to jump around happily, excited about the new nickname, but that didn’t happen. He was quiet for a moment, not a sound from him but his fans starting to spin frantically. His rays on his head started to spin as a shy smile spread across his face. Wow, just before he was squeezing the life out of you and twirling you around, but one nickname and now he’s shy. 

Y/N smiled mischievously. “Oh what’s wrong Sunbite? You seem a bit quieter than usual. Is everything alright?” They teased. Sun set Y/N down and covered his face, trying to ‘hide’. 

Y/N felt their heart melt at his reaction, “Awww, I’m sorry Sun. I can stop now-”

“ NO!! ” 

Y/N jumped. With the blink of an eye, he was standing right in front of them, his face inches away from theirs. He was beaming and his rays were spinning happily. 

“ Don’t stop!! Please!? ”

  I guess he likes the names. Y/N thought. 

“Ok ok, I won’t stop Sunny” Y/N reassured him. They gently took his arm and pulled him down to their height. They then reached up and patted his head. Sun froze. Sure, him and Moon pat Y/N’s head all the time, but they hadn’t ever had it happen to themselves. Sun felt his smile widen and he leaned into Y/N’s hand. Sun could hear Moon’s thoughts short circuiting but he ignored it.  

Sun was just happy to have Y/N happy again. 

    Half of the day had already gone by when Sun finally came out. He wasn’t very happy about that, but he still acted like his bubbly self and played games with Y/N until the sky started to darken. Sun declared that he was staying up half the night with Y/N because it was only fair since Moon took most of his time. When Y/N agreed, Sun heard Moon start protests in his head. 

WHAT!!?? Why!? I know I was out this morning but I was only helping Y/N!

Yeah, but that wasn’t what we agreed on doing when we talked about it so too bad.

Sun thought back at him, crossing his arms. Moon continued to grumble but finally agreed. 

    Sun and Y/N turned on all the lights in the building, and afterwards Sun made dinner for Y/N. He made breakfast for dinner and Sun turned on a movie watch together as Y/N ate. They watch a Disney movie called Enchanted. Y/N was yet again entranced by the movie and watched attentively. Sun giggled to himself at how intensively they watched the movie, but they didn’t seem to notice. It was now close to midnight and Moon’s patients were long gone. Moon didn’t say anything, but Sun could still feel his frustration clouding his head. Sun signed. Y/N looked to Sun.

“What’s wrong Sunny?” They asked, tilting their head. 

“ Moon’s being impatient. He’s giving me the silent treatment. ” Sun said with a laugh. Y/N smiled.

“Awww, It's pretty late. Maybe it’s time to let him out again.” Y/N said settling into a bean bag. 

“ I suppose you’re right. Goodnight Sunshine! I’ll see you in the morning! ” Sun said, pulling Y/N into a hug for the hundredth time today. Y/N laughed and hugged him back and waved him goodbye as he went and turned off the lights.

When Moon came out he didn’t greet Y/N as he usually did. Instead, he walked right past them. He went over to a pile of pillows, plopped down, and crossed his arms. Y/N looked at him confused. Wait. Was he pouting? Y/N bit their lip, fighting back a laugh. They walked over to Moon with their hands behind their back. 

“Hey there Moonie. You’re awfully quiet even though you wanted to come out so much.” Y/N teased him. 

Moon avoided eye contact but Y/N could hear his fans starting up. Y/N smiled and continued. 

“Oh I see how it is. Are you mad at me? Oh you wound me deeply Moon man!” Y/N said dramatically, shooting their hand over their heart as if they were stabbed. Y/N could hear a quiet giggle from Moon, but he silenced himself quickly. Y/N raised a brow. They thought for a moment when a brilliant idea hit them. They smiled and plopped down on Moon’s lap. This got his attention. His eyes snapped down at them and he gave them a confused look. Then it hit him. 

“ No, no no no. Don’t you dare! ” Moon started, but it was too late.

Y/N started to tickle him and he immediately keeled over. He started to laugh uncontrollably trying to gently push Y/N off, but failing. 

“ WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT!! HAHAHA STOP-!!” Moon squawked. He wriggled around and he ended up falling back into the pillows. Y/N stopped tickling him with a laugh and helped him sit up.

“ Sorry Moon, got a little carried awa-” Y/N started, but then they noticed something. They tried to hide their giggles. Moon tilted his head. 

“ What? What’s so funny? ” 

Y/N reached behind him and grabbed something. It was his night cap. It had fallen off when he fell. Y/N then bolted out of the room, laughing. 

“ HEY, BRING THAT BACK!! ” Moon barked as he ran after them. He was a lot faster than Y/N so he caught them very quickly. They had put on His nightcap and were holding it on their head as if their life depended on it. Moon furrowed his brow and reached out his hand. 

“ Hand it over. ” He demanded, smiling a little. 

“Over my dead body!” Y/N squeaked. 

“ Oh, so I’m going to have to do this the hard way huh? ” Moon asked with a devilish smile. He picked Y/N up and took them back to the pillows and set them down. Then, without any warning, he started to tickle them. Y/N squealed, but still held onto the hat. They laughed so hard, they felt tears starting to well up in their eyes. It didn’t take long for them to surrender the hat.

“ALRIGHT ALRIGHT, HERE TAKE IT HAHAHA, PLEASE JUST LET ME GOOOOO” Y/N roared, trying to give Moon his hat. Moon laughed and took it, putting it back on. 

“ Why thank you very much, ” Moon said with a grin. Y/N couldn’t answer, they were still panting. Once they caught their breath they looked to Moon.

“Never again” They choked out and Moon nodded.

After that, Moon stopped pouting. They talked for a while about their plans for the next day. It didn’t take long until Y/N started to nod off. 

“ Alright, I think it’s time for bed. ” Moon said, picking them up and carrying them to bed. 

Y/N started to protest, saying they weren’t tired. But the moment their head touched their pillow, they were out like a light. Moon laughed to himself. 

They really are a character.

Yeah

Moon sat at the foot of the bed. 

Are you ready for tomorrow?

Sun thought for a moment.

I’m not sure, but I’ll survive. Sun thought quietly

    Moon nodded and looked at Y/N. He started feeling that unknown feeling again. What was it? He started to play back memories of that day when he felt the feeling and started to think. They all included Y/N, so it has to do with them. It wasn’t a negative feeling so it had to be good? Moon stood up and walked to a shelf of books. He pulled out a dictionary and started to flip through the pages. There had to be a word for this feeling, and he was determined to find it. He passed a few words that were very close to what he felt, such as devotion, fondness, affection, but they didn’t fit quite right. Then he stumbled upon a word with a definition that caught his attention. 

He read it over and over again. He had heard people talk about this word and had seen it in many movies. It seemed to be the word he was looking for. 

Love-

An example of this range of meanings is that the love of a mother differs from the love of a spouse, which differs from the love for food. Sorry I've been very busy lately and haven't been able to work on any new chapters. I currently don't have access to my device that I have been writing this story on, but I maaaaay have started a tik tok •3•. I'm debating whether or not I should post this story on there too. And yes I do in fact draw lol. If you check it out I have a few things I posted just for fun but if you guys want I can take it seriously and start posting the Wall-e AU on there.
